Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's time for another edition of iHeart Communities. Hey what's up?

Speaker 2 (00:07):
That's the boy doctor being Chad Day and today on
the show, we're going.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
To talk about Hey, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
We understand that a lot of people are going through
a lock this year, and there's a lot of kids
that may not have the proper warmware to make it
through this winter season. And as we know, it seems
as though winter has came early here in Saint Louis
with all the snow that has happened over the past week.

(00:40):
And man, I was just like, wow, it's cold already.
But anyway, to keep everybody one, we're partnering up with
the Soul Foundation and that's sol and it's not what
you think, but it is spreading our love foundation and
we will be given out approximately somewhere in the vicinity

(01:05):
of a thousand coast this year and thanks to our
beautiful sponsors, but we're gonna be there for their seven
Daniel Winter Rize Kids event. In of course, one of
our major sponsors, Inspired and you know I remember them,
they used to be La Cleave Gas. But anyway, in

(01:26):
the studio right now, I have two presidents.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Wow, this is unbelievable. I just thought about this. I
got two presidents in the building.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
One from the Soul Foundation, that is Miss Melanie Northfleet.
How you doing today?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Very well?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
And also Steve from a spire Steve Mills, how you
doing man?

Speaker 1 (01:53):
I'm doing good? DJ okay good.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
So we are back again this year to pass off
coats and pass our coach to the kids between the
ages of six and sixteen? Or is it five in sixteen?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I believe it's five, five and sixteen.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
All right, So Melanie, let's talk about the reason why
we're doing what we're doing. Such an amazing story. Let's
talk about what happened on a cold day. You were
driving down the street and you saw this kid and
he's just walking to school.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
That's right, I'm bj So, as you mentioned, I saw
a kid walking to school. It was very frigid weather
and I just couldn't believe that this kid was walking
without a coat. So I just kind of follow the kid,
watch them go inside the school, and then I called
in and spoke with the administrator, and that's when I

(02:55):
found out that there was a dire need for coats, hats, gloves, socks.
A lot of the children would come to school with
Mitch Max socks or not no socks at all, and
so it just sparked the interest. I immediately went to
the store, I purchased a Colt and I took it
back to the school and it just kind of developed

(03:18):
from there. Later I had a warm wear event with
a purpose and everyone brought colds. So it just kind
of started in twenty twelve.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Twenty twelve, and somewhere along the way, we were at
a function and you were on the stage and you
were talking about it, and I went perfect, Because I'm
be honest, y'all.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
I do not like to give out toys.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I just feel like kids are going to play with
a toy for two days and then that toy is
going to go to what go away? And I was
searching for something that I can get involved in, and
also iHeartMedia, Saint Louis can get involved in. That was
want to be long lasting, you know what I mean,

(04:03):
not a two day thing, something that a child can
get and say, hey, you know this, this this is
really helping me out. And so when Melanie was telling
her story, I asked her, I said, hey, you know,
is it okay if you know we partner up with
you and and uh, the name came up.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
It was Winter as Kids, and we've been doing that.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
And then along the way we were asking people to
bring coats and we were doing that for a few years.
And right after COVID, I think right around COVID, right
before COVID, we were we ran into a young lady
from Spire, and Spire got involved because they were doing

(04:47):
something in Kansas City and they said they wanted to
duplicate it here, and so here we are today. Spires
here is one of our major sponsors of the brand
new coachs and they the studio we have the president himself,
Aspire Missouri.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Right, yes, sir, I don't want.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
People to think you Spire everybody.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
And that is mister Steve Mill. How you doing, Steve?
I am doing good? Good to be here.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Okay, Now, Steve, I know you came in while we
were doing it. Why why did you feel the need
to say, you know what Spire needs to keep doing
this event.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Well, I'd say first and foremost that we are truly
inspired by Melanie's story. You know when when when you
hear it, it just tugs at your heart, So that that's
first and foremost you know, it really lines up with
what we do ASPIRE and you know, we especially during

(05:48):
this time of year, we keep folks warm, keep the
keep the homes warm. And this goes hand in hand
with keeping folks warm. It's keeping kids warm with with
a new coat. And the more that we can do that,
the more that we're we're gonna do that. And we're
just honored and and uh look at as an honor
to actually do this and take part in this.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Okay, So with Spire being involved, I know you guys
have other Like you said, you know that you guys,
this is what you specialize.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
In is heat. Yes, you know the heat. You know,
Spiral bring the heat. You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
And I know you talk about that a lot, but
I do know there are different programs, you know, like
assistance that you can give, you know, like for parents
and stuff like that during this time of the year.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Yeah, we realize that there's there's a lot of folks
out there that are struggling at this time of year,
especially trying to pay trying to pay bills and utility
bills is one of them. And so we do offer
a number of assistance programs to hopefully provide some some
financial relief. One one program that we we are proud of.

(07:00):
It started in nineteen eighty two. We call it Dollar Help,
and that's where I call it really the community helping
helping the community, because a customer can help another customer
that may be struggling by adding a dollar on their bill.
There's a place on their bill that they can add
a dollar, and that's why we call it dollar Help.
That dollar goes into a fund where that fund, those

(07:22):
funds are used for customers that are struggling with.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Their with their bills.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
So it's so it's a way that the community can
pitch in and help. And you don't even have to
be a customer. You can go online as well and
make a one time donation if you're not going to
inspire a customer. So there's there's there's other programs that
we have as well. You know, we have programs where
if you're struggling, somebody may have a medical emergency and

(07:46):
maybe in the hospital and and they're behind on their bills.
We have programs along those lines. But but the but
the main thing is is if there is a financial need,
call in and talk to one of our customer experience
representatives because each each each need. Each person that calls
in usually it's pretty unique, so we can line you

(08:07):
up and sometimes folks just need budget billing or payment arrangement.
The bottom line is we care, we want everyone to
remain a customer, and we want everyone to stay warm
this winter.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Okay, Now, when you talk about the different programs, is
there a number website that people can go to to
get this, you know, get the assistance that they need
for the winter time.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
You can always go online at spy energy dot com
and find find the resource there, or you can call
in at one eight hundred and eight eight seven four
to one seven three.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
All right, So Mail, I know that the Soul Foundation,
I know you specialize in one where and I'm hearing
that you walk into different schools or you know, kids
seeing they go that's the Gold Lady.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
That's right, that's right. I am known as the Cold Lady.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah, I mean you know I heard that. I just
started laughing.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
I'm like the cold Lady. I think when I see
you every time, be like, hey, cold lady, how you doing?

Speaker 1 (09:11):
You know?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
But the Soul Foundation have different ways that you guys
help out the community. One that was you know is
you know one ware, but what are some of the
other ways that you guys uh uh make a huge
impact on the community.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Well, we have a scholarship program. It's called Soulship and
so what sooship is. It's a non traditional book scholarship.
It's just a way to help offset some of the
calls for students who's attending college for the first time.

(09:54):
And the reason why is a non traditional book scholarship
is because we target students who may not have a
four point zero but ac great point average still have
a strong desire to attend college, so we want to
support them as well. So that's what the Solship Scholarship
is for.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Now, how do people go about, you know, receiving a soulship?
So the I was about to say ship.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
That's pretty funny. So on our website, which is www.
Spreading Ourlove dot org, there is a section on there
for specifically for Winter Rize Kids and solo ships. Actually,
so the solos Ships usually opens up around January February.
We take new applicants for the fall of twenty twenty six,

(10:45):
So that's how you can get in contact. Also, you
can call the Soul number which is three one four, three,
two seven, two two one five.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Now with the Winter Rize Kids coming up December thirteenth.
As a matter of fact, we're going to be at
the all new clinic dealership, the CDJR up there. It's
at twenty one seventy five North Limberg. We're gonna start
at nine am in the morning and we're gonna pass
out new coachs until they're gone, till they're all gone.

(11:17):
So parents, if you're listening to this and you're saying, hey,
I want to be involved, all kids has to be
with an adult, and that means an adult is twenty
one years of age and older. Now, you can bring
as many kids as you like. We're not gonna ask
you any questions. We're not gonna they're not gonna have

(11:37):
you know, doing all this. We're just gonna see you
have a have a kid with you. There's gonna be
a volunteer that's gonna grab you and the kids that
are with you, and we're gonna take you over to
different tables and we're gonna put coachs on those kids.
Wild supplies last this year, we'll have over a thousand

(11:58):
coaches that we're gonna give out, so We're pretty blessed
with that special thanks to of course Spire, Walmart, Sam's,
Cannon and Penaluga, Heel Cigar, Saint Louis Community Credit Union
and of course iHeartMedia, Saint Louis and the Soul Foundation. Uh,

(12:21):
this is what we're going to be doing, So make
sure Saturday, December thirteenth, you mark out a little time,
come on up and usually every year we get people
in and out. You know, it's not a long thing.
And one of the other features is going to happen
our sponsor, Cannon and Penaluga, they are going to be

(12:43):
doing a registration and someone will win a four hundred
eleven dollars gift card to have the money in their
pockets for the holiday season. So I want to make
sure I tell you that. So when you come your register,
we're not you don't have to be present to win. Basically,
we're gonna pull the name and then we're gonna call

(13:07):
you and then you have to come back to the dealership,
you know, and get the gift card.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
So that's another feature.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Another thing that we're gonna have there is where that's
the courtesy of Canada and Penaluga and their phone number.
If you get into a car accident or anything like that,
you just call four one one pain. And that's the
reason why they've given out a four hundred and eleven
dollars gift certificate because.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
The phone number is four one one pain.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Uh. So, Uh, Steve, I just want to say, uh,
thank you so much for you know, uh coming into
Missouri because you've been here.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
What two years, three years?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
The two years three I've been in my current role
for two years.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Two years now, and uh you've been gracious enough to continue,
uh to supply the brand new coach for uh, this
this huge event, So we definitely want to say thank you.
And then your staff come out and volunteer on that
day as well, and and we just want to say
thank you to the entire Spire team.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Well thank you. It's it's a it's we consider it
a privilege and honor to take part in this. And
the thing is is that the team is just excited
as as the kids actually to participate in this. So
again we're just we're just excited for another great event.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
All right.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
So Melanie, we want to thank you for birthing all
of this, you know what I mean, just happen to
see a kid going to school and being open to allowing.
You know, iHeartMedia Saint Louis along with Spire to to
a partner with you on this. And of course I
got to send a shout out to Magic one of

(14:48):
four point nine, HD two one hundred point three to
beat Hallelujah sixteen hundred and b I N one oh
three point seven the radio stations that are involved with
this event. So we just appreciate you for seeing a
kid and saying you don't gonna do something about it.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Well, it brings me joy, you know, to be in
this spot right now, to be able to provide for
the children. It just warns my heart, especially to see
or smile, and it's just something I just can't turn away,
you know. It's I'm just embedded. This is my baby,
and I just love doing what I do.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
All right, Well, it's the seventh ning you went around
as a kids event with the Soul Foundation. We're gonna
