The very first game of the 2018 WIAA State Baseball Championships featured Waunakee and Eau Claire North in a Division 1 quarterfinal. Waunakee got out to a 5-0 lead, which Eau Claire North rallied back from to tie at 5-5 in the 4th inning. After five innings, it was 7-7. Waunakee's five-run bottom-of-the-sixth put the Warriors up 12-7, enough to hold on and defeat the Huskies 12-8, with the tying run at the plate in the top of the seventh inning.
