Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, you're listening to the High School Coaching Show. We're
coming to you live from Moe's Original Barbecue. Of course,
it's brought to you by the Ortopeda Clinic and Gorye's
Furniture Express out on Highway Won sixty nine Pam at
Jamior Gorree and our next up is Valley High Schools
coach Adam Hunter. Good afternoon, coach. How are you hey, Jeff?
Hey doing man? It's good to see you. Good to
see you all right? Last week coach, non region game,
(00:23):
you were at Russell County here, Uh, following the hurricane.
That's the good. Yeah, they got Astro turfil. Yeah, they
got a turfield and it was a conditions were okay,
that's right, there was it was nice. It was nice
about that one. Briefly. We're gonna move on to the
next one after after.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
This, okay, you know, first off on you know, Dylan Griggs,
Rose Kennys head coach, did a great job.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I think they were ready to play.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Uh. He has got his team much more improved than
they were last year. You know, I think they've got
a chance to actually the competing and they got a
chance to win that region.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
You know, they're they're doing a really good job.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
You know, were going of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
We give up two touchdowns back to back pretty uh
you know, busted coverage on one play and then they
we didn't line up correctly and they just dumped it
over to the number two receiver on the second touchdown.
So we then we settled down a little bit and
we scored and just let them keep scoring. And we scored,
they score, we score. So it goes back into the
you know, second half, and we we pull in with
(01:22):
about till about eleven points, and you know, we just
couldn't get back over the hump. You know, they they
made some big plays. That quarterback really throws the ball. Well,
they've got some guy skilled guys.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
They throw it to. Uh, they do a really good job.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
So, you know, a little deflated of our kids, but
you know, we can't give up the big plays, and
we gave them up. So you know, this week going
back into it, we can were ready for our region play.
You know, these next three four weeks are really big
for us.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
All right, coach, you moved right on back into a
region play. You had Silicago two weeks in a row
on the road. Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
You know, we go to Silicago play a team that
you know, I think they've had some injuries. This kind
of hurt them early in the season. Uh don't know
if their quarterbacks gonna be back here or not. I
think he may have messed up his shoulder or broke
his collar bone early in the season, so he may
not be back. But you know, they're they're gonna be
They're big upfront, they're gonna try to run the counter,
and they're gonna try to establish the book sweep and
(02:18):
and we've got to play really good defensively and read
our keys. But you know, we got to keep everything
in front of us. So that's that's gonna be the
main thing for us defensively, and fly to the football.
We've got to get leven hats and football every play. Offensively,
we've got to continue doing what we've been doing.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
You know, we rushed for three hundred yards last week,
so you know, we've got to keep that up. We've
got to hit some some play action passes to soften
up the defense some. But you know, we've got to
get better as a unit on both sides of the
football and keep doing that. And I think we have
h we just play some really good teams and we
need that going into the first half of the season.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Coach, you're looking at you're looking at Glenn Wood, who
you know just moved in here, but they they loaded
up in the off season. That's right, uh Smith Station,
it's a uh uh you beat them their class, that's what.
In Central Clay County. They beat a lot of us.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah, you know, and they and they'll beat a lot more.
That's right for the seasons out, that's right, you know,
Coach Danny One, these team they're always good. Uh Marbory
good win against them, a region region game, go to
non region Russell County is good.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
They've only lost one.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
They've only lost one, and to be honest, they should
have beat you following. You know, they should be undefeated
right now. I agree, you know, yeah, we did. We
play some good teams up early in the season and
we got you know, Boar Guard Elmore County.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Those are gonna be big ones for us.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
You know, Silicoguan and you know, we haven't played Hole before,
but we've watched a little bit of film on them.
The next three out of four we've got to win
for sure, you know, we we've got to go three
and four out of the next.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Four, coach. I mean I'm looking here, and all four
of them winnable if you if you play good, if
we play good, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 7 (03:54):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Elmore County they got a good team, we know, Boregard.
I think they've only lost one, that's right too.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
They oft too, that's right, and lost up to Andalusia,
and that's right. And they're improved from last year too.
So you know, we've got to work cut out with them.
And you know, I think, you know, I think we've
got we go to Silicaga, we go to hopefully, but
then we got in Moore County and board Guard at home,
so that's gonna help, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
I think we that sets it up good for us.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, being at home those last two games really helped, right, yes, sir?
All right, well, hey coach, good luck Friday night. Appreciate
everybody healthy.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah, we got we got we banged up at one
position right now, our inside linebacker group. We had a
our started inside linebacker rolled his ankle yesterday at practice
and I had to go to the clinic and he's
in a boot for a week. Hopefully we get him
back next week. But he's out this week. But everybody
else is pretty well. You know, we've just got some
boots and uh beat up, you know, some bruises.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Everybody does.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Yeah, I think every every team you talked to you,
that's right. It's just that time of the year.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
You're gonna have some people. Good luck Friday night. I
win this game, yes, sir, and we'll we'll see you
next week. That's coach of Adam Hunter with Valley High
School up next at least Scott.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
We're here at mos. Our shows every week has brought
to you by the Orthopedic Clinic and Moe's Barbecue, and
of course our good friends at Gory's Furniture Express located
in Opelake down the Highway one sixty nine. If you
need furniture, what soup much? If you need furniture, we
encourage you to to Alan to go by Gorye's frontis
(05:25):
Spress High. Were fifty one in opal like it. Now
it's time to talk a little football with Auburn High
coach Keith Ethridge. Good evening, sir, how y'all doing that?
How you doing?
Speaker 8 (05:33):
We're doing great?
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Doing great? Good introduced this show man.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
You got right.
Speaker 9 (05:37):
Well, we've got Aiden Platt. Aiden plays offensive line for us.
You know, has had a huge year this year, had
a great year last year. He's got multiple D one
offers and just an awesome young man. You know, just
uh he's uh, he actually didn't play last game. I
had a little incident where we had some had to
get his uh he cramped up pretty bad after practice,
(06:01):
so I had to I had to get his hydration
stuff fixed.
Speaker 8 (06:05):
And he's ready to roll.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Did you get first off? Good eating? Pull that mic
up a little bit for us right there? There you go,
all right, good that you're going to get air. You
go right and I say, is it plat or plant
plat p l A T T okay? And your first
name is ad. There you go Aiden, good to hear,
good to see you man. Are you a senior?
Speaker 10 (06:25):
All right?
Speaker 3 (06:25):
And you play offensive line? Pull that down a little bit.
We're gonna get you folks. There you go right guard?
All right, So tell me about your football team. What
you're thinking.
Speaker 11 (06:34):
I think that we're pretty good.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
That's a good.
Speaker 11 (06:39):
And that we're just gaining momentum gaming winning to get better.
They're chancing the playoffs. Okay, now, when we win the playoffs.
There you go, are you going to Central Friday night?
Speaker 7 (06:50):
Playing? Do what I'll be playing?
Speaker 3 (06:53):
I'm glad, I'm.
Speaker 8 (06:54):
Glad, I'm glad. I'm glad he's playing.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
That will give you a stat right here. And now
this doesn't mean anything, ain't But do you know how
many times in the last ten years Central's won the
area champions region championship.
Speaker 11 (07:05):
I'mna go five, nine, nine, nine.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
That's a lot of nine out of ten.
Speaker 8 (07:14):
Twenty twenty was the last one that Auburns won.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
How about that? That's interesting in it? You didn't know that, didn't.
Speaker 8 (07:20):
That's when all they played for the state championship?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
There you go, that was the year.
Speaker 8 (07:24):
So even the year we went to the state championship
twenty two, I think it was, they beat you, they
beat us, They beat us in the regular season to
win the region, then we beat them in the semi finals.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Say something, it's in it. Until I looked at it,
I went, yeah, you don't think about that. So I
say that to say they're a very good program, and
you guys have a very good problem. But it's a
lot to be said about Central. Isn't it to win
the region? You thought five? I would have probably said five. No,
I would have probably said five. So tell me what
you think about Central, not the region championship, but this
(07:53):
team right here.
Speaker 11 (07:54):
They're a good team that'll ranked nationally on the board.
And I think for us to win this game would
be a big statement for the tire nation to put
off and on the match on that we're serious and
we are trying to complete for a championship.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Right, you got to go over there, and I know
you got to score more points.
Speaker 12 (08:09):
What's what do you say? This is what we got
to do to win. I know, score more points.
Speaker 13 (08:13):
But.
Speaker 11 (08:15):
Just a match up front on the old Line Park
and D Line Park. We went in the trenches, be.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
Able to move the line of scrimmage. Okay, looking forward
to it.
Speaker 7 (08:25):
I'm ready.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Are you ready? I've been ready, young man.
Speaker 9 (08:29):
Well they've asked that test. Yeah, they've worked really hard
this off season. Our guys have really worked hard this
off season. I think that you know, they've had this
game circled on their calendar since last year, and you know,
I think they're they're chomping.
Speaker 8 (08:42):
At the bit to get get to Friday.
Speaker 9 (08:44):
And you know, we know how good Central it is,
and we you know and that's why you play play
the game, you know, uh, play the game to play
in big games like this. How many times do you
get a number one versus number two match up? You
know during the regular season, coach, think about it, you know,
so you get get that opportunity and it's it's gonna
be a great football game Friday night. And you know, uh,
(09:06):
I think these guys are just really looking forward to
it and got a we got a great team, and
Central's got a great team. So you know, we just
got to be fundamental, not turn the ball over, you know,
like Aiden said, you know when went up front, you know,
and and then let the chips fall where they made
from there.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Keith ether or job On High football coach Aiden Platt
with us offensive number? Are you seventy three? I know,
Big Hugh Bodford, Little Hugh Little, I know he's ever
been little. I wonder when he was a baby. He's
probably eight foot tall when he's back. And I like
him and I show I met him with this past
spring at young man at a graduation party for his
(09:46):
friend who works for me. Anyway, he's a fine person,
find him man so in his parents. But he can
hit somebody too. You know what I mean, Yeah, there
you go.
Speaker 9 (09:53):
Yeah, we're pretty good up from these those two guys,
and you got Clent Walmack and and uh you know
you got Trent and Pritchet and then we got Tuck
her All, Tucker Alburn.
Speaker 14 (10:04):
You know, just got a really good front.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Uh what's that.
Speaker 9 (10:10):
Danny's Danny's son. And then Trent Givens comes in. I
mean Givens comes in and plays for us a little bit.
And you know, I mean we got we're pretty good
upfront on offense. And you know these guys they got
they worked really well together. And uh that's a testament
to their two offensive line coaches. You know, coach Stanford
coach Farne do a really good job with those guys
(10:31):
and they're very coachable. So it makes it easy both
you guys were off last week. Yeah, thoughts on that, well,
I think it gives you a little time to to
get fresh. I mean, we wanted to play that.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Game bad, you know, I mean I talked to you
all week.
Speaker 15 (10:48):
You're in.
Speaker 9 (10:49):
Well, we tried to We tried to finagle it where
we can play on Friday. It didn't happen, you know,
tried to make it to where we could possibly make
it up week ten because both of us we were
off and that and happen.
Speaker 15 (11:00):
You hate it, you know, I don't.
Speaker 8 (11:01):
I don't want our kids to miss a game.
Speaker 9 (11:03):
I want us to be able to I want them
to be able to play every game that's on the schedule.
Speaker 8 (11:08):
And uh, you know, like I said, it still ain't done.
Speaker 9 (11:11):
I mean we could we could still find maybe find
somebody to play that week ten, you know, if somebody's
got an open date that maybe didn't play or something.
You know, I think the album on High School Thought
Association will allow.
Speaker 8 (11:22):
Us to fill that date if we if we did
it soon enough.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yeah, let me ask you this to and I just
I ain't ask you this. Did you ever ask him?
Speaker 14 (11:28):
What do you come here?
Speaker 8 (11:31):
We did say something about that. That's that is logistically.
Speaker 9 (11:36):
Well, yeah, well this is the thing if they came,
if they came here, it would change everything, Like they
would have to get they would have to get buses
and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
So it made it tough. It made if we wouldn't lie.
We did at that part. But that's all right, all right,
So you feel ready going over there.
Speaker 9 (11:53):
Because yeah, yeah, I think we're ready, you know, We've
been preparing this for long preparing for this for a
long time. And I'm not saying it's just the next game.
We're not we're not trying to put too much emphasis
on it. But it's a big one. You know, they're
number team in state. They're at the top of the
mountain there where we want to be, and you know
we got to get you know, to get there, you
got to go through them. They're the state champions, they're
(12:15):
the region champions, they're undefeated, they're you know, they hold
all the brass. So right now we we we get
an opportunity to play the best on Friday night.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
You know, I think of this team, I think the
past big receivers in town athletes, you know, are they
that way coaching?
Speaker 8 (12:32):
Yeah, fives, five is as good as any receiver. Yeah,
I mean he's really good. Eight's a good receiver too,
is a good receiver.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Eleven.
Speaker 9 (12:39):
I mean they got a lot of Yeah, they got
a lot of good players. They're they're loaded all over
the place. Defensive front's real good, that's what you know.
That's why I got these guys right here to help
patrol that up from it, you know, we're looking for
Omar to carry carry the mail Friday night. You know,
we're looking for Jackson to have a great game. All receivers, Peyton, Plott,
(13:01):
you know, ask you all those Antonio, you know, defensive
defensive wise, we're looking for our whole defense to to
step up and get some stops for us.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
You know, I think that I think that we're ready.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Though, all right, I ask you a couple of things
before we go, special teams and high about so far
preparation specially.
Speaker 9 (13:18):
I think special teams. You know, Joe's been kicking really good.
I think we get it inside the we get it
inside the thirty five forty where I think we can
put three points on the board. I feel like he's
he's doing that well. Uh snappings, snappings, really good, Bred
readers doing really good. You know, we're we're covering a
lot better. You know, we made some changes in our
(13:40):
coverage game. We've given up a couple of touchdowns on
kickoff returns, which we can't allow.
Speaker 8 (13:45):
But you know, I think that when we put it
in then zone on kickoffs can't return to them, Coach,
they can't return them.
Speaker 9 (13:51):
And you know, I think I want to say we're
we're I don't know if we've given up a touchdown
on a touch back, you know, so that's that's it
was a good sick yeah, after touch back. So I
think that that's a really good sign. All right, tell
me about your middle school.
Speaker 14 (14:10):
Give me a run down.
Speaker 8 (14:10):
They've been really good night. They had a good win
the other night.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
It's prattl.
Speaker 8 (14:17):
R j V is still undefeated. Yeah, yell yeah, but
we you know, really decided about the young group.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
You know.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
So that's your future. That's your future. Absolutely, I mean planting,
nice to meet you. Seventy three year program one, that's right,
said hello and Braiden Barber too, a raid my buddy,
good coach, good luck, Yes, travels, Yes, I Keith that
(14:46):
there you go and number seventy three, number one in
your program, Aiden Platt, there you go. We'll be back
with the Beula Bobcats from the high school coaches show
up mos barbecue.
Speaker 12 (14:55):
Yeah, all right, here we go.
Speaker 16 (15:06):
The most exciting six or maybe a fan gives us
seven minies of the high school coaches show.
Speaker 17 (15:12):
Yes, it's boreguard football.
Speaker 16 (15:14):
We've got coach Wallace, We've got mister Sasster and returning
back to us this week mister d Mark Mitchell is back.
We'd like to thank our sponsors, Orthopedic Clinic, Fox Sports
a game. We're here at most Original Barbecue, Gory's Furniture
out on one sixty nine. And yes, you can catch
us on the kicker w kk R ninety seven to seven.
(15:34):
That would be Lee County's best country. Mister Saster, that
is m de Mark is glad to have you with
us tonight.
Speaker 14 (15:40):
Baby.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Yes, sir, Yes, sir, coach, good.
Speaker 18 (15:42):
To see you.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
He's just good to see him. If he if he's
not talking, it's just good to see him.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Yeah, I'm glad. I'm getting the blood of the jokes tonight.
All day started this morning, all right, So we're here
with the Bollguard Hornets. And I'd like to say that
I visited Hornets Stadium Richard Brownfield Friday night. Coach, I
enjoyed it, but I left while y'all were leading. I'm
sorry I left, but y'all leading, and I woke up
and I went no. I felt so bad, But first off,
(16:08):
I enjoyed being there. I thought, well, I thought your
whole team played well the first half because Coach, I
saw all I saw your son played at extreame Wheel Cub,
Emmanuel Stunt's stone Son and Trey. Yes, I played extremely well.
I know those young men by name, so I know them.
There were a lot of other I hate to do
that because I'm gonna leave a lot of names out.
Y'all get fine catched by ride receiver in the end
(16:31):
zone for a touchdown right in front of me. But
your guys played real well. Coach, I hate you lost
the game. Like I said, I didn't see the first half,
but I wasn't pressed for the first half. I'll let
you tell us about Andalusia's second half. A very good
football team and against a very good football team.
Speaker 16 (16:45):
Well, I think that end of the day, when you,
like you said, when you have two good football teams playing,
the sad thing is somebody's got to win. Somebody loses,
and they made a few more plays here or there,
and we just like we just didn't never make that
one play. They got us, They got us back over it.
(17:06):
And anyway, kids playing extremely our kids playing hard. They're
you know, they're doing a lot of things right. It's
just we just came into, you know, kind of the
short end of the straw or stick of everyone whatever.
Analogy you want to use, but can't be proud of
just how they battled, you know, just even like in
the fourth quarter when we had to have stops to
(17:26):
give our offense a chance to to you know, uh,
with the one point deficit, we got stops, you know,
and that's big because you're gonna need that down the
road at some point.
Speaker 17 (17:35):
Where you got to have stops, and we got stops.
Speaker 16 (17:38):
And I thought that, you know, like like the first half,
you said, for about twenty minutes of the first twenty
four minutes, man, it was it was boom, boom, boom,
let's go, go go, And you know, hats off to
Andalusia coach Taylor. They did a good job of of
you know, the second half, they did a better job
of minimizing our possessions, and just they must have and
(18:01):
just like I mean, you look up the next thing,
you know, there's there's five minutes left in the ball game.
You're like where to go, you know, And so I
just you know, they do a really good job of that.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I don't know what happened, and I don't like to
bring it up because it was a something happened negative
and nobody need wanted to do it. But I was
at the other end of the field when there was
maybe a scooping score right before half. That was a
big something happened. I'm not but that was a big
part of the game. It shows you keep playing, you know,
they kept playing. They were down twenty one and y'all
(18:32):
were pretty much fixing the flex.
Speaker 19 (18:34):
So yes, that you that point of the game there. Yeah,
from that point of the game, we had scored it
on three straight possession had it was twenty one to seven,
and then we got another stop and had the ball
and uh, and they they run a little corner blitz
and and actually I think they they messed up the
call because they ended up with two guys in see gap.
That's right, or we had one of them picked up
(18:55):
and the other one came around. If we just had
another hair of a second to throw the ball. We
had a running back in the in the Uh he.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Was coming on so towards me.
Speaker 19 (19:05):
You know, good call by them. The kid made a
good play. Uh hit us, hit hit us in the
back or quarterback never saw him coming.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Okay, that's what yah, And so I couldn't as soon
as he.
Speaker 19 (19:14):
Ran back to throw the ball, he got hit so anyway,
they scooped and scored, and then we get the ball
back and drive it back down there again and uh
turn it over again in the red zone.
Speaker 17 (19:24):
So to to turnovers in the last probably four minutes.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
Yep.
Speaker 17 (19:28):
Uh, And it just flipped the momentum of the game
big time.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Hey, well, you know what, we'll put that one behind USOOL.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
Region week.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
That's right over high school.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
We don't know much about him there one and one
in the Region two and three overall you will talk
about hopeful.
Speaker 16 (19:42):
Well, I think that, uh. I. I was talking to
coach Grider while we were we were sitting in there.
They're very They're very well coached, and they're a good
coach team. Coach Corey Lee, coach Wallace's coach with it
with him before I've known him. He came into probable
once once we left. Uh So, I mean, does a
really good job with with those group of kids. I know, offensively,
(20:05):
I don't know who they're you know, the coach, coach
Lee is a defensive guy, so I know that.
Speaker 14 (20:10):
I don't know who their offensive coordinator is, but they do.
They jump in a lot of formations.
Speaker 16 (20:14):
They give you a lot of a lot of eye
candy and with the with the group of kids they have,
they do a really good job with them. Now big upfront,
and they've got you know, got one receiver that's a
real tall kid they like to get the ball to.
Speaker 12 (20:27):
Uh.
Speaker 16 (20:28):
But they just do a really good job of the
type of kids that and and the type of players
that they have, they do a good job of being
successful with them. So for us, man, it's gonna be
a it's gonna be a task that makes because you gotta.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
Go on the road.
Speaker 16 (20:39):
Anytime you go on the road in the region, you know,
there's always those type of things.
Speaker 15 (20:44):
I've never played.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
Hopefully at Hopeville, so I.
Speaker 17 (20:49):
Really you know, well, I take that back.
Speaker 16 (20:50):
We played in the middle school JV game my first
year here, but other than that, I haven't I haven't
coached there on a Friday night.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
Yeah I coach.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
I've never even seen their high school. I mean to me,
hope it was just a wide spot in the road, uh,
headed towards you know, down the crap.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
I've had a baseball terma there, but it's slap out,
slap out, that's it.
Speaker 12 (21:13):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
So I got, well, how we how are we going
to attack them? Just keep same same as always.
Speaker 19 (21:20):
Well, like like coach said, Coach Lee, defensive guy does
a fantastic job with their defense, so they're gonna be
in the right spot. Uh just comes down to like
every other football game, you know, comes down to the
guys up front.
Speaker 17 (21:33):
We could block them and run the football, we're gonna
be fine.
Speaker 19 (21:36):
So it's just gonna come down to us to execute
what we do and again not turning the football over.
Speaker 17 (21:42):
You know that that would help a lot.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I was practice being this week today.
Speaker 16 (21:46):
I thought today, really today, both had one of their
best practices we've had. Like me and coach Wallas grew
up in the same type of coaching pool of like
how we go about practice. That's why it was really
awesome that he came out here with us because we didn't.
I didn't have to explain how we want to practice
(22:07):
to him.
Speaker 18 (22:09):
Yeah, yea, the same. Yeah.
Speaker 17 (22:15):
It's so it's gonna try to snap the ball and
snap play fast and practice fast like a game rep.
Speaker 16 (22:20):
Right, and so we've like this week, I told our
kids after practice today, the past two days of uh,
you know a drill we call like a versus B
type stuff has probably been the most competitive we've had
all year, like just kids just understanding what we're trying
to get out of stuff and getting after it and
trying to make each other better and competitive spirit. Like
the past two days have been been really really good.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
So and that helps.
Speaker 16 (22:43):
Like you you don't want to you know, you don't
want the defense to just always be successful every snap
because that's not reality. You don't want the offense to
not get a good look every day at practice because
that's not reality.
Speaker 14 (22:53):
That's not Friday nights.
Speaker 17 (22:54):
So you need a you need really a lot of
give and take, and we've had we've had that last
two days.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
So all right, do you think that the kids understand, Hey,
we get out there and work, we go fast, we
do what they want us to do.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
We get in and get out, wall out of here.
That's what I was gonna ask. How long is your practice?
That kind of goes to what Jeff said, how long
did you practice?
Speaker 15 (23:13):
Hour and forty five minutes?
Speaker 3 (23:15):
How long was your practice to three ash? Well, I
mean not during the week, but well that's a good point,
uh in the summer day. Yeah, well, no, you're right,
game weeks.
Speaker 19 (23:23):
I was thinking I've been I've been at places though
Monday Tuesday practice two and a half, three hours.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Yeah, that's kind of what I was saying. I remember
coach from CRACKL would be out there three and a half.
Speaker 17 (23:30):
Yeah, well, especially if you're having to play kids both ways.
So now they got to practice both ways.
Speaker 19 (23:35):
You got to work that in and uh we try
to get out there and get and I would dare
to say we get as many snaps as anybody does
in less amount of.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Time by rushing.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
But don't do you feel like that the energy and
the focus at practice kind of dictates how long or
short it's going to be.
Speaker 12 (23:53):
Uh well, not for me, now, okay, our kids, Our
kids are well he's.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Saying, if they're rolling, you're able to get quicker than
when they're not.
Speaker 16 (24:02):
Maybe, but I think our kids are so structured to
how we do things. They like, they know, they know
what tomorrow is gonna look like, and man, we gotta
make a happen.
Speaker 20 (24:11):
Now.
Speaker 16 (24:11):
Is there's some days you need them to be a
little more locked in because maybe this is going on.
But for our bunch, man, it's really it's more about
the competitive spirit of practice, is what I look for,
because I mean, they like, we're gonna get done that day,
what we're gonna get done like that. They know the
schedule and what it looks like. So it's more about
just being the competitive spirit of practice.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
You ever have any big come on, coach, there's thirty
more minutes, you'd be surprised.
Speaker 7 (24:36):
They usually, hey, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
They really do.
Speaker 16 (24:41):
Yeah, and some of them We've had this before to
coaches already and I'm yeah, that's it because it moves
so fast, you know, they feel like they're out there
an hour.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Yeah, all right, give me a rundown on our young folks.
Speaker 14 (24:54):
JB one money V Yeah, B T W money nine
little program.
Speaker 16 (25:00):

League Championship next week for the fourth.

one of the last rows. Yes, you would play with me,
so thank you.
Speaker 1 (25:12):

Speaker 16 (25:13):

Speaker 3 (25:20):

Speaker 15 (25:24):

Hey, Yeah, I tell mom and brother.
Speaker 18 (27:38):
Hey, mommy, Hey, you're never never shy.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
You know us.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
You've seen us before. Okay, so talk, It's okay. Is
your team gonna win Friday? It's a great answer. Do
you like watching your dad coach do you. Does he
ever get mad sometimes?
Speaker 7 (28:02):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (28:04):
Does he?
Speaker 15 (28:05):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Well, I ain't gonna ask you that because you might
not know if he likes offense or defense. Your dad's
a good defensive coach.
Speaker 12 (28:11):
Did you know that?
Speaker 14 (28:13):
No?
Speaker 15 (28:13):
I can?
Speaker 3 (28:13):
Now you do? Now you do? All right? And what
do you do during the ball games? Do you watch
them or do you cheer? Do they both? Okay? Very proper,
young lady. You're looking, young lady with that red hair.
All right, anytime you want to chime in, girl, chime in? Okay,
all right, good deal, coach, Let me get to my page.
(28:34):
I had it right, I got it right here you go,
take off.
Speaker 6 (28:36):
All right.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Last week, coach Charles Henderson a good win, twenty nine
to zero. You shut them out. You want to talk
about that one briefly.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
That was his third win, by the way.
Speaker 18 (28:43):
Yeah, it was probably as completed game as we've played
on both sides. We had some big special teams plays too.
We blocked three kicks in the game, three punts, but
the defense played really well kept them out of the
end zone all night.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
You know.
Speaker 18 (29:00):
It was a good another good night for uh for
sedarian in our quarterback Elijah. They they hooked up a
couple of times for touchdowns. It was just a solid
win for US, nothing spectacular.
Speaker 7 (29:11):
Uh.
Speaker 18 (29:11):
We played a new running back, Christian Smith, who normally
plays outside linebacker for US, because our starting to tailback,
uh T. J. Wilson was was out. We brought Christian
in and uh he did a great job. Had about
eighty five eighty six yards.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Hold on, now you you moved.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
We talked about it last week, yeah with us, but uh,
well I'm sorry, but was it of the linebackers.
Speaker 18 (29:34):
That was Yeah, yeah, he's he played running back in
middle school. And yeah, our our top two running backs, well,
our top running back he was out, and our our
next guy was at a bum ankle. We weren't sure
whether he was going to be able to play or not.
So uh and our third guy, I heard his leg
in the JV game on Monday night, So we end
up we moved. Yeah, it was kind of like wiped
(29:55):
out the position, but we moved the linebacker over. And hey,
he he's a he's an old fashioned downhill tail back.
Or he would be a great fullback in the wing
tea because he is straight ahead and don't getting it,
He's not running out of bounds. He's looking for somebody
to run over big as he coach, he's about one
hundred and eighty five pounds. He's athletic too, He's really athletic.
(30:18):
And I really think maybe this is what he needs
to play. You know, he's way behind on knowing the offense.
He went the wrong way a couple of times and
you know, made some booboos, but uh, he didn't turn
it over. And you know he finished every play falling forward,
which was huge, and uh, you know had a good night.
It was a good start for him at the position.
How many times did you run him? Do you remember?
Speaker 6 (30:39):
Coach?
Speaker 21 (30:39):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (30:41):
It was it was in the teams.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Okay, so in the team I want to ask this,
did you did he play linebacker two?
Speaker 6 (30:47):
Coach?
Speaker 14 (30:47):
Did you know?
Speaker 18 (30:49):
But he was on a lot of special teams. He
actually blocked two kicks in the game.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
What's his what's his name?
Speaker 18 (30:55):
Christian Smith. He's a junior and a good kid. Works
extremely hard to wait for me. He hurt his knee
as a middle school in eighth grade, and then his
freshman year was my first year and uh he uh,
he re injured that same knee like early in the
season and had to have surgery again, so he missed
that whole year. And last year, you know, he's a
special teams guy, played a little defense, and we hadn't
(31:18):
put him back on offense. I was really trying to
protect him, you know, with coming off to knee surgeries
and all that. But he's he's good to go, and uh,
he's he's gonna be pretty good.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
I think obviously he is. Coach, Now, are you getting
your other guys back on these.
Speaker 18 (31:32):
Hopefully hopefully we'll Uh. The other running back played in
the game. He had Uh, he had about eighty yards
as well. So it was a good night running the
football for us. But and and he's he's one hundred
percent now. And then, uh, we don't know about TJ yet.
We'll know Friday. There's a possibility we could get him back,
but we don't know if we'll get him back or not.
He uh, he's been moving around a little bit, and uh,
(31:54):
you know, he he's not it's not a serious injury,
so he will be back at some point.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Need this win for the reason gon keep Christian on
the offensive side.
Speaker 18 (32:03):
Oh yeah about that.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Oh yeah, we're talking about that for Jeff. I'm interrupted,
Jeff that's big. It is big.
Speaker 15 (32:13):
They're two and one.
Speaker 18 (32:14):
They're two and one. This is if we want a
chance to host a home playoff game, we got to
win this one.
Speaker 7 (32:19):
Uh.
Speaker 18 (32:19):
And it's it's Uh. They got a really good team.
They they've played some good teams as well. Uh. Their
losses are against really good opponents. They lost to Moody
and Oxford and Spain Park like we did. So they've
played some tough teams.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
The teams would beat them, coach.
Speaker 18 (32:35):
So it should be a good match up both teams.
If I think we're pretty evenly matched.
Speaker 7 (32:39):
Uh, you know, and and they're at home. We got
to go there.
Speaker 18 (32:42):
Uh and and so they'll be excited and there'll be
a big crowd. We'll have to have to deal with that.
But uh, you know, I hopefully we'll play well. If
we play well, we should be fine.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
All right, coach, I was just sitting here looking at
your Chelsea's to and you got them in two weeks.
You can handle that, you know, I mean.
Speaker 18 (33:00):
All right, we went out, we'll be that's where we'll
be saying your number.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
You knew where I was going with that, And really, coach,
if you don't, you you you kind of we gotta
win one more in the playoffs. That's what I was
going to say, you win, we.
Speaker 18 (33:13):
Gotta win one. And that's what we've been telling them
all week.
Speaker 7 (33:16):
This is the one. Hey, we get this one.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
We're in there, you go.
Speaker 18 (33:18):
Uh, and so it's important, you know, it's it's uh,
you got what two.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
On the road too, That's right, So of these region games,
that's right, that's right, all right, coach on the road
this week at Helena Open next week Pelham Chelsea and Percy.
Jillian till about your JV in middle school before we.
Speaker 18 (33:35):
Go, Well, we've got one more JV game our middle
our JV team is uh there one two and one. Uh,
and uh we beat we tunk to last week and
they actually beat us earlier in the year twenty eight
to nothing at our place, and then we went down
there and beat them twenty one to seven, uh last week,
and we're off this week. We don't We got one
(33:57):
more JV game. We'll play Catholic out of Montgomery in
a you know, not next week but the week after.
And uh, middle school is you know, they've had a
tough schedule. I put a pretty tough schedule on him.
They're playing they played Auburn. Uh or, they're playing Auburn
and they play Central, so you know that's a big
challenge for him. Uh they lost a close one to
(34:18):
Clay Central and uh Avil canceled on him and Stan
Hope canceled on him. Goodness, So they've had a kind
of a tough year and they've got a good group now.
Coach Willie Williams is my real school coach, and yeah,
that's him and he's doing a great job. And I
was lucky to get him and uh man, they love
him over there, and he's got you know, eighty eighty
(34:41):
five kids out.
Speaker 7 (34:42):
No, I've had him all this third year. I had him.
Speaker 18 (34:44):
First year I went there, I had not know that
coach basketball to coach and didn't he was he the
he took him to the final four.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
I was gonna say, yeah, and he helped He helped
Roger Rogers the whole time.
Speaker 18 (34:59):
And then he was the head coat coach.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Say a year or two, I almost said when I
went there, and the great guy, a super guy.
Speaker 18 (35:07):
Yeah, he's done a great job with that program and
we're fortunate.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
To which I had no idea. You've had, you've you've
lost a couple of good ones last year.
Speaker 7 (35:14):
You know, yeah we did.
Speaker 18 (35:15):
You you got a good group right there, But we
do and and you know it's it's a good group
of men as well. They're they're great guys, and uh,
you know you've done a good job with that stuff.
Speaker 7 (35:25):
You know, I'm proud to have them.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
And you, I believe you told me we're going you
got you got some spots open.
Speaker 18 (35:32):
I think you made Yeah, well we'll probably have a
couple of spots open this Yeah, we weren't able to
fill last week. Hopefully we can get filled this go around.
And new superintendent's committed to getting us fully staffed and
uh so you know that's that's important. He's done a
great job. He's he's a he's got a great vision
for our program. Uh and and you know he's already
(35:52):
redone the sound system in the stadium. He's putting in
a jumbo trying in this off season. Uh, he's got
a sports plas Yes, it's gonna be the new School's
coming out of the new school open next year and hopefully,
I mean we got a lot of good things going on.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
I hear you, coach.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (36:07):

coming off two straight losses in the region. It was
good to get that win win over Loachi Popa. Talk
about it a little bit and then we'll go to
b B Comer.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
It was a big win. You know, we need to
get back in the wind. Call him.
Speaker 23 (38:54):
And after two rough weeks playing two really good football
teams and had another good team last week in Locha Poka.
Speaker 14 (39:03):
Uh.
Speaker 23 (39:04):
You know, we came out strong early and they just
kept hanging around, hanging around, and but you know, our
guys fought through, and especially after the crazy week it was,
you know, with the storm coming through and everything and
so kind of you know, you have to be mentally
tough in those situations. And and the big win Forrest.
(39:28):
And now we've got another big game this week tomorrow night,
as a matter of fact, big area game again for us.
Speaker 3 (39:35):
Yeah, let's go back Friday, you have anybody want to
single out either coach course, Oh my bad, jam Oh
was that true?
Speaker 18 (39:41):
No?
Speaker 3 (39:41):
No, no, okay, I'm sorry, coach.
Speaker 22 (39:43):
Oh No, I mean overall, I think I think we played, ah,
you know, overall good game. I mean defense had on
the fifteen. You know, I think we could clean up
some stuff in the red zone. But if I was
gonna single anybody out, you know, I think Matthew Kite's
been playing really really well for us on the defensive line.
He plays offensive line too.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
And then you don't wants to play with that game.
If you can't, coach, you can grandfather here, don't go
don't go to the road. There you go. He won't
go far now, he ain't gonna go far.
Speaker 22 (40:13):
But no, I think we played, you know, played good,
held them to fifteen. They're a good team, super athletic.
You know, we know they are, Coach, I've seen them play.
They are athletic, aren't they?
Speaker 6 (40:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Let me they speed?
Speaker 22 (40:23):
Yeah, we we're Our game plan was don't let them
get outside of us and try to contain them as
much as we can.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah, I know you look here, this man right here's
a good one. Coach Washington good to see you here tonight.
So we got to stop and speak to the Hall
of Fame there. Coach in Washington, Yeah, coach, that was
a good wine. If you mentioned b B Commer, talk
about it.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Let me verify this. So while we're talking real quick,
tomorrow night, you're playing on Thursday night? Yes, okay, all right,
just making sure it's.
Speaker 23 (40:48):
Their homecoming and you know they share a field Silicaga.
So we've got to play tomorrow night, which you know,
we're we've played Thursday night games four, so we've got.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
To team for when when that happens. And so we're
we feel like we're ready. We feel like we're ready
for to morrow night.
Speaker 14 (41:05):
BB Comber.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
They see they're the b B Comber's one and one.
They had a tough year.
Speaker 22 (41:11):
That's what we were talking about in there. They that's
they're one and what one and five wanted one and four?
But they look better than one and four.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Team.
Speaker 22 (41:20):
The quarterback is a really good athlete. They got a
receiver out there wide that looks like a good athlete.
I mean that, you know, and coach Farst is a
good coach. I mean, I think they have a tough schedule,
they're better than the one and four.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Oh yeah, you know, you just were just I was
just thinking about the last year team that they had.
Speaker 6 (41:37):
Yeah, yeah, we were to be honestly, we were glad.
That's not what we're playing this year.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Has it been two times they went Super seven? That's
what we were, Jason.
Speaker 22 (41:46):
They went to the state championship game, were here two
years in the state semifinals?
Speaker 3 (41:50):
All right, okay, they were here the last time we
held it. Because I remember that, and I was thinking
that they went back to Yes, that's what I think.
Did they move up this year?
Speaker 12 (42:04):
I've got it.
Speaker 6 (42:05):
I thought.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
You used to handle that. We got too much.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
I was thinking there was too Yeah. For some reason,
I was thinking they had to play real town.
Speaker 7 (42:12):
Last year they did the.
Speaker 3 (42:15):
Right Yeah, okay, fair enough right here? You know why
because Life beat them, five beat them, and the over
here B B Comer had the lead. I'm sorry, we're
getting off, I remember, and then they beat there you
go anyway, bottom, very good program and Fossett does a
good job. I'll let y'all finish. Coach Faucett, I didn't
(42:36):
we know it?
Speaker 23 (42:36):
Well, Yeah, well, they they're they play real well on
defense to there. You know, they got good players, good coaches.
It's you know, a good program that used to winning.
And but you know, we're excited about the situation and
we're excited by being able to play, but we're going
to have to play.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
We can't. You know, we've challenged off it's a line
this week. I don't think we played real well last
two or three. We waits with the offensive.
Speaker 23 (43:03):
Line, and so we challenged them this week and hopefully
they'll they'll step up because they're gonna have to for
us to do what we want to. You know, we
got to win this week and win next week to
make the playoffs, and that's your goal every year, and
so these next two weeks are critical for us.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
To be able to do that. And you know, our
guys know that and they expect to be in the playoffs.
But you've got to go out there and earn it.
And so that's what we're looking forward to doing tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
How do you team physical coach?
Speaker 6 (43:32):
Everybody?
Speaker 23 (43:33):
Well, you know, you know, every coach you talk to
right now is probably gonna say we're banged up because
it's that time of year and we're banned up. But
our philosophy right now is to get them to Friday
night to not do a whole lot of beat and
bang it during the week. You don't have to anymore.
If you don't don't know how to hit by now,
you're not gonna You're not gonna learn.
Speaker 12 (43:54):
So I love here.
Speaker 23 (43:55):
Now is about staying healthy, you know, keeping you your
rhythm on offense, defensely, making sure you're fitting the gaps properly,
lining up correctly. It's all about you know, your eyes
and assignment football right now. And so that's what we're
trying to do. Just get him to Friday nights and
be healthy enough to play and win on Friday nights and.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
The normal bank you know, the bruises and the brains
and all that. You with everybody or we missing somebody.
We're missing up.
Speaker 23 (44:24):
We're missing our probably our best defensive lineman for the
next couple of months ago. But other than that, you know,
we feel like we're healthy enough. Got to get a
quarterback back. He's had some ankele issues. Well he's he's playing,
but he's just not. But he hasn't.
Speaker 7 (44:42):
He's he's still been playing.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
He just did he get her over here?
Speaker 7 (44:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (44:46):
Yes, yeah, and I remember that ain't all right?
Speaker 7 (44:49):
And he's kind of been.
Speaker 3 (44:50):
He didn't a little good that well, I should he
played differently after that, So.
Speaker 22 (44:53):
You know, a dual threat guy and he ain't been
able to run.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Yeah, I didn't realize that, you know.
Speaker 22 (44:58):
I mean he's still he's super small and knows what
we want to do with the offense. But you know
that kind of you ain't got to account for him
in that backfield. That changes. You can game plan well.
Speaker 23 (45:08):
And they can watch him and tail that he's also
critical second, and then he's also critical to our return gate.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
So a good place. He's a good player. When he
got I wasn't sure. I said, I think he's right, but.
Speaker 6 (45:26):
I'll tell you if we needed them, he'd be there.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
It's great to see you guys. Thank y'all for always
coming B B. Comber this week at home uh not
mean tomorrow, tomorrow there there at home front. All right.
Good to see y'all.
Speaker 7 (45:41):
I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Lucky coach from.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
Barbecue, all right, welcome back to the High School Coaches
Show right here at Moe's Original Barbecue. We're coming to
you live and you can pick up on Fox Force
the Game and Kicker ninety seven point seven. Uh, every
(46:04):
every Wednesday night. It's brought to you by the Orthopedy
Clinic and Gory's Furniture Express. And we got two Lafette coaches.
Head Coach Ron Williams Coach Carl Well.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
Good afternoon, guys, afternoon in afternoon last week.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Boy, y'all, that is that the longest road trip you
got for the season?
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Coach red level, It will it will, it will be
this year.
Speaker 24 (46:24):
But because we didn't get to go to Selma to
go to Elwood.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
So yes, sir, okay, all right, uh that's a big win.
Speaker 1 (46:31):
Coach fifty six eight.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
You said it was our homecoming.
Speaker 24 (46:35):
Yes, sir, I wan't uh.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
I want a good homecoming forward the coach. No, I
guess it's how you look at it, right. I tell
us about the game real quick. You scored fifty six points,
fifty six to eight, Coach.
Speaker 6 (46:50):
Light I I got my OC here with me.
Speaker 24 (46:52):
I didn't talk about it the like some of the points.
Speaker 7 (46:54):
First, well, we had a good game.
Speaker 25 (46:57):
All offense, defense, special teams was all we were clicking
on all cylinders, you know. Coming in we only had
some film against Brantley, and I told the kids, Brankley
is always one of those powers in one ad that
can really play some good football, and watching them against Brantley,
they did something they was twelve fourteen and half. So yeah,
(47:19):
we definitely was looking at film thinking we was gonna
have our work cut out for us. Plus they you know,
they picked us for their homecoming, so I felt like
they knew something that we didn't know. And we came
down there. Kids were very focused. The trip down was
a different road trip. It's quiet, you know, and all
the talking. And then we got there and I can
(47:41):
tell a lot when our guys are focused through pre game,
and they were. They were focused, guys flying around, moving,
you know, coaches getting them going, and we just put
together a well all around game finally came together and
we still made some mistakes, but we made the mistakes
moving running fast. That's the one thing I took from
(48:02):
the game. Even though we made some mistakes that we
corrected later on this week with practice, we made it
going full speed, overcome them. Offense, scored h the defense
had some turnovers, and then we had kids step up
on special teams and just all out effort.
Speaker 12 (48:20):
You know.
Speaker 25 (48:20):
We just we had that tenacity going in that it's
time to because we had to lick our wounds to prior,
you know, losing to Lynette that I did. So we
came out and like I said, it was a whole
team effort. I mean, even though the scoreboard showed fifty
something points. Offensively, we came out and we scored in
the drives that we need to store. We sustained some drives.
(48:43):
We stayed ahead of the change, which is what you
want to do offensively. Offensive line finally got to where
they were jailing and then sync, so we didn't We
didn't give up a quarterback sack the whole night, so
that that.
Speaker 6 (48:55):
Was big for us.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
Hey, you know what you're facing open y'all need to
open weight.
Speaker 24 (49:00):
Coach, we needed one. Let's piggyback on one. Coach said,
you know, we got some guys out so hopefully they
can kill a little better.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
And we're still going at it.
Speaker 24 (49:13):
We just left practice a little while ago, you know.
We get the boys off yesterday and got back at
the day short doing some short days hard, what we
call short and hard. Going back to a lot of
the basics this week of getting ready for real town
for next week.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
Have y'all put have y'all put anything in for real town?
As far as practice this week, a.
Speaker 24 (49:34):
Couple of things and do a little more tomorrow and
a little more Friday. And so watch them go, watch
them play a little bit.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
Yeah, well you know what, you ain't gotta go. They're
at home if they stuff.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
This Friday, Yeah, this Friday they got Lynette.
Speaker 1 (49:49):
Yeah, they go to go to real Town, right, yep,
that's right, all right, Well so you you know, just
it's still you're still working on it.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
You put it a little bit.
Speaker 24 (50:01):
Yeah, we'll installed a little bit that. Don't want to
over do it, but we just got to jump start
on our coaches got uh getting a jump start on
everything so that we can look at everything throughout the weekend.
If we have to change some things next week, we
know we want to change.
Speaker 1 (50:15):
And what the uh your injuries? Have you got anybody
that that you didn't have that will be ready for
that Real Town game?
Speaker 24 (50:24):
Yes, sir?
Speaker 10 (50:25):
Okay, we should have two people back.
Speaker 7 (50:27):
Okay, and that's big, that's real big, real.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
Two people in two a could be yeah, game changing.
Speaker 6 (50:33):
Yeah, it could be a big.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
Game for us.
Speaker 12 (50:36):
It's a game change, yeah exactly.
Speaker 24 (50:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
Who who who are the ones that are out?
Speaker 24 (50:41):
We had we've been having jamar Is broughting out. He's
a really big part of what we do. Defensive player
the year last year and having them back, I think
even giving coach and fits today a little while over there.
Speaker 25 (50:55):
I had to fire him up a little bit.
Speaker 24 (50:56):
Yeah, been out, Coach said, Hey, you've been out two weeks,
should be ship you ready to go? So you know,
he he helps us out and it's gonna be h.
We're gonna need all the help we can get to
play a perfect game when we get to play in that.
So we're really enthused about that. And like I say,
you's got a couple and got some bruises and stuff,
but you know that's football.
Speaker 1 (51:16):
Yeah, you're right, coach. Well you know what coach, enjoy
and get the work you done that you need to.
You guess it's open week and we'll be talking about
the Real Town Rebels and the Fat Bulldoffs next week. Yes,
sir coach, it's good to see you and thanks a lot.
Speaker 3 (51:29):
Good to see your game.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
All right, Hey up next Smith Station High School. Right
after this, all right, welcome back to Modes Original Barbecue
for the High School Coaches Show. We're here live Mo's
(51:50):
Original Barbecue. It's brought to you by the Orthopedy Clinic
and Gory's Furniture Express. And next up it's Lenet at
High School coed coach R. J. McDonald coach Kitchens. Yes, sir,
good afternoon heat good?
Speaker 7 (52:04):
Yeah, yeah, what you have? I had Captish bikes.
Speaker 26 (52:07):
It was good on the sliced turkeys today said it
was the best thing here. So I'm I'm trying to
who told you that?
Speaker 6 (52:14):
Everybody?
Speaker 3 (52:14):
All the whole kitchen.
Speaker 12 (52:15):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
I know somebody gets you that because when I saw
I said, what is that right there?
Speaker 26 (52:18):
I thought it sliced barbecue? But she said, now it
was turkey. I said, all right, I'll tried.
Speaker 12 (52:22):
All right.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Last week you had a non region game, but it's
a it's a I guess your second biggest rival.
Speaker 7 (52:31):
Yes, yes, sir, yep.
Speaker 1 (52:33):
That was last week.
Speaker 6 (52:33):
Was like the Yeah, what was it?
Speaker 1 (52:36):
Y'all played them a bunch?
Speaker 7 (52:37):
Yeah, yeah, played them?
Speaker 3 (52:38):
Was it like seventy whatever forty.
Speaker 1 (52:40):
Two plus twenty six plus four is seventy third meeting
or something like something. There's a lot of me anyway,
handle High School. You had him coach train uh had
lost thirty one twelve. You want to talk about that
well briefly and we'll move on to the region game.
Speaker 6 (52:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (52:54):
Yeah, uh, you know, it's just it was just, uh
one of those games.
Speaker 3 (52:58):
Man.
Speaker 7 (52:58):
You know, you can't go out there against the good
football team and shoot yourself in the foot all night.
You know. We dropped two touchdown passes I'm talking about
wide open, hit them in the worst place to hands
and uh and then we dropped pick six. Uh, I'm
talking about could have walked into the n zone from
the fifty and uh So you know they kind of say,
(53:18):
that's that's that's kind of a bit of a nough
show right there. I mean I thought, effort wise, defensively,
we kind of held them, you know, a good bit.
Had a couple of calls that were, you know, questionable.
One was a touchdown.
Speaker 26 (53:31):
Questionable questions that at home, you had a question It
was Yeah, one of the worst one I've ever seen ever.
Speaker 7 (53:37):
Yeah, Okay, teach tape stuff you take to a clinic
and uh they called a touchdown on a pass break up. Okay,
it's okay, anyway moving around here.
Speaker 26 (53:47):
Uh, but you get a blood pressure. You had the
fourteen points stuff, and then take away that seven. Then
then it's right there. Game score game, yep, yep, yep,
you back and read you play back in it.
Speaker 18 (53:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Real Town. They were a team in the championship game
last yow. I believe they're what they did lose one
game t Or Miller class above. And that's a good team,
a real Town. They had a lot returning didn't.
Speaker 7 (54:10):
Oh yeah yeah a uh a really good program, man,
I tell you. You know, coach, you know, they always
say you don't want to be the man that follows
the man, but you know, coach Johnson has done a
great job following the man out there, Coach O'Neill, So
he's uh, he's done a really good job. You got
a really good football team. Uh, they're gonna be very
well coached. They're very disciplined, they do everything the right
(54:31):
way and so for us, it's gonna be one of
those games. Also on the road. Man, you gotta just know,
like adversity is gonna be there, We're gonna be down.
Speaker 13 (54:39):
You know.
Speaker 7 (54:40):
The best way we can tell our kids to look
at is, you know you're already now seven up and
fourteen nothing. You got to just kind of fight through it.
And uh, you know, but ay man, that's that's a
good football team across the way. Now, there's a reason
they played for There's a reason they got asked to
go to that classic game. There's a reason. You know,
you know they're there, they are who they are, and
(55:00):
so I think for us, it's we just got to
go out there and be disciplined and we got to
play a great uh air free game. I let coach.
Speaker 26 (55:07):
Also, like I said, the real Town's real time, traditional,
hard nose, tough, we gotta match, got to match them.
I always tell the kids, all, wait, something's got to
go all the way. We wanted to get a turnover,
they're going to drop a ball. Something's gotta swing all
way in some of these games. You know, we already
told them it's gonna be.
Speaker 7 (55:23):
A full quarter game.
Speaker 12 (55:24):
Just prepare yourself for just just prepare for it.
Speaker 7 (55:27):
You know, adversity.
Speaker 26 (55:28):
I think we were getting better at it, but we're
still not where we need to be as a whole unit.
Speaker 12 (55:32):
When adversity hits us.
Speaker 26 (55:33):
How to respond to it's kind of like, oh it happened,
but they dwell on it. Next thing, you know, you
know they don't understand. I think they understand we gotta
keep playing. That's how we keep preaching, just keep playing,
play the next But I know you're doing with high
school kids. So and like I said, we're like coach said,
we're gonna be in the hornet's nest down there. They
have a great environment down there. That's all they that's
all they have down there in the woods. Uh, we
don't have no service. It's just we've been done there
(55:55):
many times, and it's kind of service.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
It's real spotty.
Speaker 26 (55:59):
It's where you're standing on is many times in the
games there and it's but it's a great atmosphere and
I like, I like games like that, especially first place
for the region is on the line. So we got
I think we're a lot of the kids understand what
we've got, what's at stake. But I just told him
just just want to see him play hard. Yeah, just
for each other. Yeah, and see where it stands. Then
(56:20):
look board to Tennessee where I think.
Speaker 3 (56:22):
You can do it.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
Though, Coach, I got a cousin on real Towns team,
like fourth cousin. Yeah, his name is Baylor Clayton. Okay,
good player if you know, yeah, probably end numberfore ye.
Speaker 7 (56:34):
Good player.
Speaker 26 (56:35):
The quarterback is really really outstanding. So it's a different
real town. But they still do their their thing bone. Yeah,
I formation type stuff, but now spread it out.
Speaker 6 (56:43):
A little bit.
Speaker 7 (56:44):
Martin sticking run and tell him and his brother his
brother is a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (56:48):
He's just what a nice or tenthhomore tenth Yeah, terms
about ninety miles baseball footballbout ninety two.
Speaker 7 (56:59):
Player, man, Yeah, they got athletes now, there's no question, sir.
And that's just got to be this one the sound man.
I think it's gonna be a great football game.
Speaker 1 (57:06):
I think when they're born they put that uh that
it looks like Rice is are to me, the real town, Yeah,
old English are.
Speaker 6 (57:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 26 (57:14):
They did away with the old old Michigan they used
to have with the front and with the line going back.
Used to be blue like Michigan's yellow. Used to have that,
you know, years ago. I guess it did a way
that when Johnson came in.
Speaker 7 (57:23):
He changed it.
Speaker 1 (57:24):
Yeah, it's it's more like a they get the R tattooed.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
On them like that.
Speaker 7 (57:31):
Yeah, those folks love that's like they love it.
Speaker 20 (57:34):
Man.
Speaker 7 (57:34):
It's set environment out there and yeah, you know, like
like I tell the kids all the time, I said,
it's gonna be one of the games. Now, where you
you pull up to on the bus and they they're
gonna be out there shaking the bus.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
Now, I'm tell you this need to get some things
because the homestand is gonna be passed. Oh yeah, and
then you know they're gonna be standing around in the
down in the end zone.
Speaker 14 (57:51):
Come in.
Speaker 7 (57:51):
I think it's gonna be a very good crowd. I
think I hope we can carry a good crowd out there,
and I think we will think we have good crowd,
and you know, we just got to go out there
sport these kids.
Speaker 10 (58:01):
Man.
Speaker 7 (58:01):
I think I think we just got to keep doing
what we're doing. You're sitting in a good spot in
the region, especially looking and I mean we keep telling you, hey,
this is this is for the Red chap. That's how
you gotta think about it. You know, you know what,
that's the one you got to win the winter. I
promise you gotta win it. And so we gotta play
well man.
Speaker 1 (58:18):
Hey, well, good luck Friday night.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
Appreciate sir man.
Speaker 1 (58:20):
Y'all come back with the w next week, y'all real happy. Hey,
that's Real Town High School up next to Benjamin Russell
High School and Smitty Writer.
Speaker 3 (58:39):
Welcome back to Moe's Barbecue High School Coaches show on
iHeartRadio ninety seven point seven, Kicker FM and Fox Sports

We also appreciate the Orthopedic Clinic for what they do,
and we appreciate Gory's Furniture Express High We won sixty nine.
If you're in need of furniture, Gory's furniture Spiss. Speaking
of the Orthopedic Clinic, coach Buster danniel least got a
(59:00):
warrior head coach. It's well this coach Daniel good evening,
good evening, Dean Mark, how you doing a not good coach?
Speaker 27 (59:05):
We know a little bit about it with Peter Klean. Oh, absolutely,
good folks had good great folks, great folks. I've been there,
my wife's been there, my kids have been there. I mean,
they'll take care of you.
Speaker 6 (59:13):
A good job.
Speaker 3 (59:14):
And doctor Palmer's right there with you.
Speaker 20 (59:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (59:16):
Absolutely, as I say, every Friday does.
Speaker 6 (59:18):
A great job for us.
Speaker 15 (59:19):
Yeah, he's a good man.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
He is a doctor, great man, good doctor. And I
hope he doesn't have to do anything on Friday, but
unfortunately sometimes.
Speaker 6 (59:25):
Sometimes he does.
Speaker 3 (59:26):
That's right. Yeah, Well, coach, you had a tough week
last week. You enjoyed that open week?
Speaker 6 (59:32):
I did. I did? You know?
Speaker 27 (59:34):
We we we worked on open Uh, and it was
a good time to be off with all the crazy
weather and all the stuff going on. So you know,
we we had a we had a bye and uh
it was a good time. You know, kids got a
little time off and and you know, able to able
to heal up some some bumps and bruises and uh,
you know, rest up a little bit and get ready
for the next five games we got. So it's you know,
(59:55):
a long season, so they need a little break in between.
So it worked out good.
Speaker 3 (59:58):
I did not think about the the open week with
all the rain. You didn't have to fool with it.
Speaker 27 (01:00:03):
We didn't, well, we were trying to fool with it.
Speaker 14 (01:00:05):
Well, we got to practice one day.
Speaker 27 (01:00:07):
We got to go out Tuesday, and then thunder lightning
got us on Wednesday, and then they shut us.
Speaker 15 (01:00:10):
Down Thursday Friday.
Speaker 27 (01:00:11):
Would let us do anything, So yeah, we got one
day in. Kids got the rest and so we worked
out good for us.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
Davill this week coach, before we talked to you to
seniors year, I'll let you give us a rap on
Davil another region game. You're sitting here at one region loss.
You're four and one. Lynnwood's undefeated, Randolph County's undefeated, you've
played one BB Comer has a loss. You've got them
ahead of you. You're sitting here in second place at
four in one, Bliss four and two, you've got the
tiebreaker over them. Dave was five and two. I know
(01:00:39):
David's football program. I don't know if you know these
two young men do, but they have a history of
playing pretty dog on good fiscal football. So you tell
me about this Davill team.
Speaker 27 (01:00:47):
Although they're winless, Oh yeah, absolutely, Now listen to uh
that that that record don't show what kind team they
really are. They have some athletes on the field. Uh,
you know coach mckelvy is his first year there. You
know coach McDonald you know, retired after last year. Left
after that year. Michael we took over. It's tough in
your first year. I don't care where you go, who
you are, where school you're at. It's tough to get
them go and get them all lined up. But uh,
(01:01:08):
he'll he'll get it going over there. They got a
lot of good athletes, Uh, spread out all over the field.
Uh you know that you you just caught out the
record at over five. I'm tell you, the probably best
over five team I've seen on film. A lot of
guys that do things the right way. I said, athletes
all over field. We've got to corralum. But they're the
kind of team that if you don't play well, don't
(01:01:29):
do things the right way, they could beat you. And
we've talked to our kids about it this week, you know,
and and make sure they understand that. Uh So we've
got to play well and we've got to do things
the right way. We got to take care of at
least god.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Yeah, speaking of that to me, some things you got
to take care of.
Speaker 27 (01:01:43):
Well, you know, it's still we we're still having turnovers.
You know, we didn't talk about the Randolf County game, but.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
No, last that's right, that's okay.
Speaker 27 (01:01:52):
Uh you know, there's a bunch of stingy folks in
Randolph County. And what I mean by that is they
kept the ball away from us, not being ugly about
the friend this lot, they rand the clock. I mean,
they got in that wishbone, they got an eye. We
we couldn't even make a punt. De Mark Uh. They
they did the thing they do really well. We we
you know, we didn't play the bad We had one turnover.
(01:02:12):
We just kind of flipped the whole game. Other than that,
we played good football. You know, we just couldn't get
him off the field on offense. And you know they
were getting three, four or five yards of pop and uh,
we just couldn't get him off field.
Speaker 18 (01:02:22):
Uh.
Speaker 27 (01:02:22):
We scored with them early and then we had the turnover.
We just kind of took a little air out of
ourselves and uh it just changed the whole game.
Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
Well, it was a tough loss.
Speaker 15 (01:02:29):
Good football team.
Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
Yeah, they are a very good football team. I told
hutch right here about that earlier that day. Hutchin's good afternoon.
Speaker 6 (01:02:36):
How are you.
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
I'm good.
Speaker 14 (01:02:37):
How are you all right?
Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Coach? I'm good, Bud. I'll let you introduce these too.
I know him, but I'll let you all right.
Speaker 7 (01:02:41):
Yeah, Well, for for you just to mention Hutching.
Speaker 6 (01:02:43):
Hutchins blowmyre.
Speaker 7 (01:02:44):
Uh. Both these guys have been with me since I've
been there.
Speaker 27 (01:02:46):
You know that they played eighth the ninth grade, and
I watched them grow up and to fine young men,
good football players, and uh these two are uh they
got a they got a.
Speaker 6 (01:02:55):
Lot of wins under the belt.
Speaker 13 (01:02:56):
They do know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
We was thinking about that at a.
Speaker 6 (01:02:58):
PEP rally one day.
Speaker 27 (01:02:59):
I think y'all were seventy and one or twenty sixty
one something like that in there three years. And uh
so good football players, even better better young men. But
Hutches Blowmyer plays a slot receiver for us, and uh
in the second dary he plays corn, he plays safety,
kick return to park returner.
Speaker 6 (01:03:16):
You know, he's he's involved in all of it.
Speaker 27 (01:03:18):
Uh, I believe he's number two. If he's number two, boy,
number two, that's right. And then Alan Oyen is the
outside linebacker for us. Again, Allen is as outstanding young man.
Uh does a great job for us on defense. He's
one of the leaders out there. You know, get some
lined up. And Alan, as you can tell, got in
the weight room and yeah, fell in love with that
and and it's turned into a really good football player.
So both of them are doing a great job for us,
(01:03:39):
and I'm extremely.
Speaker 6 (01:03:39):
Proud of them.
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
You you neil It coach. Both of them have worked
for me at the park, and I agree with you.
They're both fine young men and it's good to see
both y'all. Alan, good to see you, but I's see
you Tuesday morning. All right, all right, Hutch, I started
with you, so Hutch excuse me, I call you Hutch's
get it proper. Tell me what you think about the
season so far.
Speaker 21 (01:03:56):
I think it's been going good. We just got to
focus on what we're doing. Bounce back from last week.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Yeah, talk about Yeah, I understand that. Talk about that loss.
We talked about that week about how physical they were
going to be a talk about that game a little
bit what you saw.
Speaker 21 (01:04:09):
Oh, yeah, they just drove the ball. We just gotta
buckle down on defense and do what we gotta do
on offense. School more points than the other tend Yeah,
they just kind of slowly, yes, sir, they just kept
the ball away from us.
Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Yeah, Allen, you know you play any offense, sir, Now,
Hutchins you have, yes, sir, Yeah, you have. You dibbled
and dabbled, right, Allen. You just strictly defense, right, sir.
You've been there the whole time on defense. Or you
like to hit Pull that mic phone a little closer.
Pull that there. You'd rather hit somebody, I mean, rather
tackle somebody than be hit, right, sir? All right, do
the same thing. Tell me what you think about your
(01:04:42):
team moving forward.
Speaker 28 (01:04:44):
We just got to bounce back from uh, the Randolf
County game. I mean, we went out there, we weren't
ready to play. They just straight up they were confident
what they did, and that's what they did. They ran
the ball upon us, just ran down the throat. So
we gotta move past that game. We gotta go into
Davil and just be ready to play. We've had a
good week in preparation and I think we're ready to play.
We just got to watch more film and.
Speaker 3 (01:05:05):
I was gonna ask both of this, y'all. You grew up,
we coach down. You grew up in the ASA. It's
the first time HSA a Randolph County. You didn't know
anything about Randolph County. I mean it would be hard.
And here we are with David. How hard has that
been for y'all? Let you go back and we'll come
back to Allen. How hard has that been researching these
opponents for y'all? I think I think it's been all right.
Speaker 21 (01:05:26):
I mean we've been watching the film and our coach
has been hard on us about watching the film, so
I think it hasn't been that much of a problem
to me.
Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
The difference you think between ASA and HSA the biggest.
Speaker 21 (01:05:37):
Definitely, definitely bigger and more physical.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
I would say, go ahead, keep going with anything else.
Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
I said.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Everybody's been pretty consistent so far with that. Allen two
questions there.
Speaker 14 (01:05:47):
I'll let you know.
Speaker 28 (01:05:48):
I mean, same thing Hutch say. I mean the coach
has been hard on us. They've been telling us what
to do, and they'll even watch the film. We know
what these teams look like. So and really the only
difference between HSA and ai SA. These kids are bigger, faster,
they're more athletic, and I mean we play it to
the level. So oh yeah, I think we're doing fun.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
Oh no, I agree. I think y'all have held you
on you But the differences y'all having to play four
quarters now, I will say too. And you're right about
the speed and the side of the game. You guys
are getting that from now. You're gonna get some players
back soon. I know we got something that may not play,
but you got something coming back, right, Yeah.
Speaker 27 (01:06:22):
We uh one of the one we missed all year,
Sam Jackson, he's supposed to be back next week. You
know he's dressed out with us now and uh, just
no contact. You know, he's recovering shoulders.
Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
That's right, okay, he had.
Speaker 15 (01:06:32):
He hadn't done anything.
Speaker 27 (01:06:33):
I mean he's worked out a little bit, but just
you know, he started putting on pads and help me
this week and uh uh, we're gonna miss Tyler this week.
Tyler Kennedy's gonna be out. I guess you've got that
bombed ankle and uh, you know, but listen, listen, this
is one game. Uh, we got a long season left.
We're guaranteed five games and hopeful more. Uh so you
know we need him back in one hundred percent. So
he's gonna be down this week, but everybody else should
(01:06:54):
be ready to go.
Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
You know what, you got three region games left. This
is a big one to get in the playoff guy, right,
y'all know that, right, sir? All right, Great to see
you guys, sir. Good luck Friday night. Coach thanks for
being with us, Yes, Sir, Alan Ohen Hutchins, Bloomar and
coach Buster Daniel. We'll take a break, I think Dylan
Griggs Russell Kenny when we come back to mos for
the High School Coaching Show.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
Welcome back to the High School Coaching Show. It's Jeff
Mitchell will come into your live from Moe's Original Barbecue.
It's brought to you, of course by the Orthopedy Clinic
and Gory's Furniture Express. Jimmy and Pam Goory out on
Highway one sixty nine and next up its low Chpoka
High School coach Brandon Hall coach Stone Sir, we're gonna
(01:07:41):
we're gonna briefly talk about last week's game.
Speaker 10 (01:07:44):
It was a non region game, but it's a lost.
I don't like to wrong about that. It's fine, yeah,
I mean we just came out like, you know, we're
shooting ourselves in the foot. Still, hopefully we can pick
the old ones up. You know, we had a couple turnovers.
It was twenty one and zero before you knew it,
bump just like that, and then we shot down for
basically the whole second half and final score end up
(01:08:04):
being twenty eight to fifteen. So, I mean, we fought good.
We just made some mistakes. They made some mistakes, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
Well, William, like I said, when did the did the turnovers?
And they just put you in the hold.
Speaker 10 (01:08:17):
They put us in a whole one of them a
bass nap for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
No like in scoop and score.
Speaker 10 (01:08:22):
Yeah, a bass nap touchdown. We've been a bad nap.
We score a touchdown and then we have another bass nap.
They get the ball inside the twenty yard line and
they score. Oh he had them on fourth and fourth nine,
but we jump off side on the and then they
kicked it. They go forward in fourteen zero found you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
But I only got twenty yards offense.
Speaker 7 (01:08:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:08:41):
Points, But they got a good football team and well, coachother,
great job.
Speaker 12 (01:08:45):
They got some athletes touched part of the game.
Speaker 7 (01:08:47):
Yeah, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
So sometimes we got clean it up. Man, she got
cleaned it up. And now we're doing We.
Speaker 3 (01:08:54):
Got Central CRUSA this week, so y'all do y'all go.
We ain't got a star. That is a reaching game. Yes,
the reason is, sir, all right, you're at Central Cusive.
Tell me about them coach.
Speaker 10 (01:09:04):
Sinta Coucia guy athletes flying around everywhere. To be honest with,
there's a bunch of them out. They're flying around it
and they're they're fast and athletic. They like to run
it and throw it. And they got some some linebackers
that can play well. Secondary guys is pretty good. Uh,
they've been beat a couple of times. It just because
of them my own mistakes though, you know, so that
start the football team as well.
Speaker 14 (01:09:24):
Right, what did it?
Speaker 12 (01:09:27):
What do they do offensively though?
Speaker 10 (01:09:28):
Coach?
Speaker 6 (01:09:29):
Coach? Do well? From film?
Speaker 29 (01:09:31):
They do a lot of everything, you know, a lot
of formations, Uh, a lot of motions that they try
to give you.
Speaker 12 (01:09:38):
Uh you know they but they're based out.
Speaker 29 (01:09:40):
The spread real so they'll give you some you know,
nown screen, bubble screens, zone reads, options, Q power, jet sweep,
so you know, a little bit of everything.
Speaker 17 (01:09:52):
So we're gonna have to be well rounded and grounded
on in all areas.
Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
On the pretty good defensive backs yourself low coach. So,
I mean they do well, don't they guess?
Speaker 12 (01:10:01):
Well, we can be better than what we are at all?
Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
What do you think they'll do? Are they gonna are
they gonna try to Are they gonna try to mix
it up really well? Are they gonna have a balance
coming into the game they gonna run and throw or
do you think they'll try to throw against you guys?
Speaker 29 (01:10:16):
I just I think they're gonna come out and try
to mix it up very well, kind of give us
to throw everything got us and kind of see what
they're having success with and then then kind of stick
with that, you know, watching for them, you know, they
kind of throw everything at you first second quarter, then
find something that kind of hold in on that hope
we don't pay for them.
Speaker 10 (01:10:35):
Quarter about good. Not number four and you got number
number three athletic. They can run now, they can throw
it too. I think number one back at two sometimes,
So yeah, quarterback, all.
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
Right, Well, offensively, coach, what do you gotta do?
Speaker 10 (01:10:50):
We just gotta make sure we don't shoot ourselves in
the foot, you know, can't turn the ball over, hold
onto the football. They got to make sure we're blocking
good up front. That's what we blocked pretty well up front.
Sure we're playing fundamentally signed football, playing our game, playing
up to our speed, playing up the par and we'll
be just fine. So as soon as we start doing that, man,
because we we have we have good athletes on our team. Yeah,
(01:11:11):
we've got a bunch of good players. We just gotta
make sure we eliminate the mistakes that we're making and
stuff that we work on in practice. We gotta be
able to execute in the game. That's what we're struggling
at right now. But but right now we don't hit
the We had a hard reset on our season, so
I tell the boy was on the zero. A lot
of football left, So it's time to go to work.
You know, that was a pre season for Look's practice
(01:11:34):
beend this way. Practice been good, been great. Guys have
been flying around. They still you know, they motivated, they
want to win. You know, they're working hard and doing
whatever they can to be sceptful. You know, gotta make
sure we take that effort that we get at practice.
It's a game, that's it. They we play hard. We
just make mistakes that we shouldn't make sometimes.
Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
You know, how how are y'all help for us?
Speaker 12 (01:11:54):
Coach? They we're good.
Speaker 10 (01:11:56):
Yeah, we we're pretty healthy right now.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Warter back now, you know, I know, I mean you're
you know, you're five or six games in the season.
Speaker 12 (01:12:05):
But no, we're good.
Speaker 10 (01:12:07):
Knock on wood a little sore, but but but we're healthy.
We lost kJ Cardial like the net game. Quarterback, well,
he's getting he's getting back healthy. Have him back here soon.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Really, how long we're going to come on hand?
Speaker 10 (01:12:20):
You think it'll be, it'll be ready last probably last game,
seem right for the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
Okay, you ready rock and a little bit see anything
else you guys want to talk about what.
Speaker 10 (01:12:28):
You want to Good graduations to you.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
I saw your last night. I saw your wife. I
saw your mother in law. I saw your sister in law.
I did not say right, baby was hiding.
Speaker 10 (01:12:42):
I saw you.
Speaker 12 (01:12:43):
You saw me.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
I'm sitting up. I'm sitting up high.
Speaker 6 (01:12:46):
Yeah you're big time, you know.
Speaker 7 (01:12:48):
I was just up and watching.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
I was just I had a little granddaughter that was
in the fair company. Had one in the daughter had
one in the like the two to four year olds. Right, yeah, yeah,
beautiful girl. Grad Listen to you though, Oh thank you.
Good start for you. This is the second one even.
Speaker 10 (01:13:05):
Better and nothing the sweeter that'll repeat it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
Hey, well, good luck Friday co y'all stay healthy and
I hope you win this game as these reading games
mean it all right, So you get ready for Hey,
good luck, appreciate, good to see you. Just Loachpoka High

Speaker 3 (01:13:35):
Good evening, Welcome back to Moe's Barbecue here at ben
Creek and Auburn. There are two locations. To most barbecue
to serve you. There's one in downtown Auburn, and there's
one right here at Bent Creek, and we encourage you
to go by either location. On by Ricky Carmack and
operated by him. Great group of people, and we appreciate
what they do for us here at MOS every Wednesday night.
We also appreciate the Orthopedic Clinic and Gory's Furniture Express
(01:13:58):
for being presenting sponsors to this. Of all, those three
groups helped feed er coaches and make this show possible,
and we certainly enjoyed it. Noticed Sule of the Blue Devils. Generally,
what's going on? Nothing much nothing, not much. Good tonight
you too? You too, y'all have a good, good, good meal.
Speaker 12 (01:14:15):
I haven't and yet, but I got it in their
way on me.
Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
Yeah, okay, all right, thirty five six last week, Pike
tough loss. Tell me about that, and then we're gonna
move to positive things. Billings League, I mean Elwood Christian.
I'm going all the way up.
Speaker 5 (01:14:33):
H Like I said, it was thirty five six, but
it was one of those games that it was a
lot closer than that final score uh came out to be.
Speaker 12 (01:14:43):
I think most of the first half, Uh, the score
was what for No.
Speaker 5 (01:14:51):
Thirteen six, and then we like a minute left in
that second quarter, we gave up a touchdown and they
went up twenty to except the half.
Speaker 12 (01:15:01):
But I want to say we came out and scored.
Speaker 5 (01:15:03):
First actually, and we were doing pretty good moving the ball,
but after a while just seemed like every time we
kind of got something positive, we got a flagstron so
kind of killed our momentum a little bit. And in
that second half, like I said, we we fought, but
we just couldn't get our momentum, had a lot of
penalties that we couldn't really overcome, So it kind of
(01:15:24):
killed a lot of drives for us. But like I
said that they weren't really scoring fast and we were
right there. But as as as the game went on,
we kind of gave up some touchdowns and you know,
it kind of got away from us in the n
you want to add to the coach.
Speaker 30 (01:15:42):
Defensively wise, we had time He led us with nine tackles.
Isaiah Heard the Fountain led us with eight tackles. Isaiah
Heard had a block field goal in the first on
the first drive, they all went for a field goal
and we blocked, that went back down, the scored.
Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
Just fatigue and numbers has really hurting us.
Speaker 3 (01:16:08):
Yeah, I'm sure that does. We're talking to those Blue
Deuvel Football Verbina this week, coach on the road. Three
straight road games.
Speaker 14 (01:16:16):
That's tough.
Speaker 20 (01:16:16):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
I know you had Barbara County, Otaga and Matago Be
Maples diod at home. But as good as those three
home games are, you're fixing the play. This will be
your fourth when it's over road game. This is number
three here with Verbina.
Speaker 5 (01:16:28):
Yeah, yeah, Jack, we knew it was gonna be a
tough scratch the these uh these four and we and
we really feel like we let that first one get
away from us with Keith. But playing that Pike Lib game,
you know, they weren't in the area. So it was
one of those games where we were just kind of
(01:16:48):
looking for our little momentum, and I think we got that.
Like I said, we played them tough. I think I
don't think Pike Lib was really expecting us to play
that tough. So I was I was surprised, well not
really surprised, but because I know what kind of team
we have. It was just about them showing up and
playing and so I appreciate them coming and starting to
play the way that they know they can play. So
(01:17:11):
we're excited about the uh these next two road trips,
especially like I said, after after that game with White
lib And and I feel like we're kind of starting
to find ourselves a little bit and they're kind of
trusting in each other a little a little a little
bit more, and I'm excited to see how we go
out and playing at Rabina.
Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
It's a good team catch in the region.
Speaker 12 (01:17:33):
Well, they like to run, try to run the ball
that you.
Speaker 13 (01:17:38):
On.
Speaker 5 (01:17:38):
They're they'll try to spread it out, but once that
their bread and butter is uh. They have like a
power set, have three uh up men and then they
had a quarterback and they tried to try to run.
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
At youse backfist.
Speaker 12 (01:17:50):
Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:52):
Now they the last two weeks, I want to say
they try to try to spread it out a little
bit more, but just on film, I think most teams
we will try to overpower us. But like I said,
I think our guys are starting to get ready to
stand up to that challenge.
Speaker 30 (01:18:06):
Rose to the occasion against that last week. So I
think you know, it's becoming familiar with they're becoming familiar
with how to stop it now.
Speaker 24 (01:18:17):
I think that.
Speaker 12 (01:18:18):
I think it's just confidence wise as well.
Speaker 5 (01:18:21):
I think before when the teams kind of get in
in sets and try to overpower us, I think it
was our confidence was down. But I think these last
couple of weeks, I think our guys are starting to
find this as a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
Yeah, that's a good thing. It's time is now.
Speaker 14 (01:18:34):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
You got one, two, three, four reaching games? Coach. Heck
you win the four you get in the playoffs, sir?
About that?
Speaker 7 (01:18:41):
So?
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
I mean you got four wins, You're in, you're fighting there,
you go, all right, It's always good to see you guys.
Thanks for being here.
Speaker 7 (01:18:47):
Good luck.
Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
They go, Blue Devils there they are the Blue Devils
in the house. Quick break, Southern prepping the guard when
we come back to mods. Thanks God.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
Hey, welcome back to the High School Coach Show. We're
coming to you live from Mole's Original Barbecue, brought to
you by the Orthopedic Clinton and Gory's Furniture Express and
joining me as coach Brian Moore from Open Like a
High School and the voice of the Dogs, Van Riggs.
Hey Jeff, how you doing, Hey, Coach how are you.
Speaker 14 (01:19:22):
I'm good, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
How are you used to talking to him?
Speaker 18 (01:19:24):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:19:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (01:19:24):
All the time?
Speaker 14 (01:19:25):
Yeah, him and you too, well, yeah, every Monday, you're right.
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Hey, last week coach Pipe Roads, Yep, it's a good win.
Speaker 12 (01:19:34):
Yeah, I thought so.
Speaker 14 (01:19:35):
I mean, you know, I thought obviously things to fixing
the game. But they're a good, really good team and
going on the road, different environment, kind of different set
up as far as their stadium and everything, and uh,
but just proud of the kids. Probably, you know, I
was hopeful we wouldn't look ahead to region play, you know,
not that they weren't good, but just looking ahead to
region play because we knew what we have in the
back four. But I thought the kids played well, started
(01:19:57):
really fast twenty one. Nothing let them back in the game,
and you know, I had to had to respond, but
we did, you know, went back down and kicked a
field go after they cut into a score and then
scored the first drive of second half. So I thought
that was really big for us, you.
Speaker 1 (01:20:09):
Know what that Pike Road.
Speaker 14 (01:20:10):
I didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:20:11):
I hadn't really kept up with them that much because
they're not in our region. You don't, you don't hear
about the much I know that they you know, played
for in one estate Chambers that's right. Uh, but hadn't
really kept up with them till you put them on
the schedule or whoever put them on the schedule before
you got here. And uh, yeah, they do have a
good program. How was the conditions of the field.
Speaker 14 (01:20:30):
It was good. I mean, uh, it's small. You know,
they're set up is different.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
I know it's one hundred yards long and all for y'all,
it didn't matter.
Speaker 14 (01:20:38):
That's right for the fans. Yeah, they were right behind us,
but you know, but they've done some end zone bleachers
and stuff to kind of get our band it's where
our band was and that sort of thing. But uh,
it's it's gonna be really nice. I know long term
that place is is growing and uh it's going to
be super nice, a great place to live, a great area.
And uh they've got Granger Shuck does a great job.
Speaker 12 (01:20:58):
They're head coach. And then Jonathan cham being there.
Speaker 14 (01:21:00):
Obviously he's a dude, and he had some things for
us that we had not seen and did a really
good job of keeping them in the ballgame. And I
thought they played well defensively. They got some guys over
there the best linebacker we've seen this year was there,
and uh made a ton of tackles, so they were
super physical and uh but again just glad to glad
to win and uh get the reag and play.
Speaker 1 (01:21:19):
You just missed coaching Jonathan, did you? I mean he like, yeah, yeah,
maybe left a year or two before, that's right.
Speaker 14 (01:21:25):
And then what was cool though, is that when he
got done at Troy, I think maybe he was a
GA for a little bit. And uh, I was in
the interview with Coach Blackman and he when when he
came to work with us, and then we spent a
lot of time in the box together and uh, he's
incredibly sharp and like his great eyes and uh playing
quarterback and everything he did. He's doing a good job.
And they've got a they've got a great team. They'll
(01:21:47):
make a deep six eight run for sure.
Speaker 12 (01:21:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:21:49):
Yeah, and coach this was kind of like I would
say they're super Bowl in a certain sense because this
is the first seven eight team that ever played there.
I mean, it was packed on both sides and we
kind of talked about the atmosphere that the music and
the non stop intensity it was. You know, you felt like, well,
they were just busting at the seams to have a
chance to win that ball.
Speaker 14 (01:22:07):
Game well, and they had one three in a row
coming into that game after losing two to seven A's
on the road to begin and I think, you know,
they had put their best foot forward. I talked to
Granger on Sunday and we're both kind of going over
the weaknesses and things that. You know, that's kind of
cool when you know the opposing head coach. You know, hey,
what do we need to do better? What are our tendencies?
You know, what are some things that you all saw?
And we talked about that stuff and I said, man,
(01:22:28):
I think y'all played extremely well and he said we did.
You know we played our best tonight or Friday night?
And I said, cause y'all were a different team in person.
And he said, we're getting better, you know. And again
that three game winning Street kind of helped propel them,
and they played with a lot of confidence. And again,
the biggest thing is this twenty one nothing. They don't
go away. That tells you a lot about their kids
and so and the job he's doing.
Speaker 12 (01:22:49):
So again, glad to get that one behind us.
Speaker 31 (01:22:51):
And Malik said, too, I know the earlier this week,
and it was even on your show, the Brian Moore Show,
that how physical their offensive line was. He said, it
was just really surprising. I mean they said they were
one of the more physical offensive lines they played all year.
Speaker 14 (01:23:02):
Yeah, I think both sides of the ball, oh line
of d line were the most physical we've seen this year,
which is saying something with some of the people we've played.
But uh, but yeah, they got after it. And uh again,
I think it was a perfect setup for us to
get ready for this Regent play because again, it was
so physical, especially in the box, and it showed some
of our weaknesses and we're able to clean those things
up this week.
Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
We'll coach. You know, you're back in region play this week,
and of course you got a great schedule in October.
But we'll start with game one. I'd call this Amy
and Corner right here, no doubt, right here. You start,
you go to Dothan. Yeah, have you have you have
you coached the team against this bunch?
Speaker 26 (01:23:40):
No?
Speaker 12 (01:23:41):
No, I mean at Dothan?
Speaker 14 (01:23:42):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:23:43):
No, no, I mean with the offense they running down
Uh no, no, just the first time you've seen this?
Speaker 14 (01:23:49):
Yeah, I'm trying to think of another time that we've
been against single wing. You know, I saw it some
when it was at Enterprise, when coached Arlington was there,
and uh but no, I mean first.
Speaker 12 (01:23:59):
Time seeing it, you know, and kind of it just
happened so fast.
Speaker 14 (01:24:04):
I mean, even like us in practice, there's so many
moving parts, you know, and we've what you have to
do is break things down. You know, it's hard to
see all eleven because they're packed inside of ten yards.
I mean, even the receivers in there, and so there's
so many moving parts and you have to have your
eyes in the right spot because if you don't, I mean,
not only will they run the ball over you, or
(01:24:24):
like misdirection you and pull guards the opposite way and
all that kind of deal read a person or and
then they'll spin the quarterback and you know, you can't
tell who's got the ball. But the biggest thing is
if your eyes are in the wrong spot, they'll leak
a guy down the sideline, or they'll run a run
an elgible receiver you couldn't see down the middle of
the field, or double pass it or stretch past it,
or I mean, it's just so many things. Like coach
(01:24:46):
Massy put together a I think it was a two
years worth including this year of just specials, and there's
thirty something specials okay, which would be like again like
double pass, reverse pass, you know, and so on top
of power and stop and counter sweep stretch, then you
you got to stop the special So that makes it
really tough. And then and then you also the biggest
thing I think with your kids is how much do
I delve into that, Like do we completely consume them
(01:25:09):
with all these things that could happen or do we
focus on the basic things that they do. So it's
a kind of a balance between that. But it is
unique for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Oh yeah, do you have someone the quarterback and he
runs pretty good?
Speaker 14 (01:25:20):
Oh it has to not only does he run well,
he's the lead blocker a lot of times. So like
when you think of like the perfect single wing guy,
you're thinking of like the guy Brandon Cox that played it,
not Brandon Cox, Chandler Cox that played at Auburn University,
played fullback at Auburn. Well, he was a Popka's single
wing quarterback. Okay, that's what they want in a quarterback.
So you know, Dotha doesn't have Chandler Cox, but they've
(01:25:42):
got a good player that's going to be able to
run and block. And so basically you're looking at three
running backs all night long, and any of them can
touch it on any play, whether it's the old Sally
play or counter GT or power or whatever. It's just
there's a lot of moving parts to it.
Speaker 31 (01:25:57):
Their lowest scoring I think was against Enterprise and they
only put up twenty one. There anything in that game
that you saw that Enterprise did that you can kind
of take away how they were ready to limit them score,
you know.
Speaker 14 (01:26:06):
I think they change the front a lot, you know,
and now they've got answers to everything. It's not like
you're gonna show them anything that they don't see because
you think about like as far as their their offensive
prep like when they go into a week, they're never
gonna get a defensive structure that they've seen in previous
weeks on scout right, Like, so they're not gonna go
and say, all right, well, ope, I could play this
way against Pike Road. So this is what we're gonna
(01:26:27):
prepare for, because everybody's gonna prepare differently for this deal
because it's so unique. So like for them, you're not
throwing anything at them that they don't see they they
literally practice against like a million different fronts all week long,
different structures and how they get the third level down
there and all that and so again for us, it's
all about being able to be multiple and don't show
them one front move late before the ball is snapped
(01:26:48):
so their people can't make calls and that sort of thing.
But ultimately, you better play your you know your job,
do your job, play your key, and then squeeze and
spill everything to sideline because if that thing hits north
and south, it's a touchdown, he walks out and score.
Speaker 1 (01:27:01):
So I mean, everybody's got assignment on these plays. So
the quarterbacks, somebody should be tackling him every.
Speaker 14 (01:27:06):
Play, oh for sure. Yeah, I mean or spilling him
when he's blocking, so like because sometimes they run power.
Speaker 12 (01:27:11):
He's the lead blocker on power.
Speaker 14 (01:27:13):
So like, it's just it's just different. The good news
is is that Adam has called defense against them for
two years in this in this offense, you know they'll
have wrinkles now, I mean they've and not to mention,
they're coming off a bye week, so add that to it. Okay,
that we're gonna have more looks than we're used to.
But you know, it's good that our defensive staff has
seen it. All those guys return, you know that that
(01:27:34):
we're coaching last year on that staff, and so you
know they've seen that, so that helps. I'm the one
who's kind of catching up, to be honest with you,
as far as the scout team guy about giving them looks.
But it'll be a lot of fun though. It's the
fun part of the chess match of it to see
if we can line up and play at the right
back defensively COD I.
Speaker 12 (01:27:50):
Mean different structurally there too.
Speaker 14 (01:27:52):
I mean it's gonna be loose zero, you know, so
basically a ton of man coverage, so like the Central
and we don't have Central's players on the edge. But
they threw it fifteen time, like three hundred and fifty yards, okay,
because they just bombed them threw it over their head
a bunch, but they know that. Like they're gonna get
heavy box numbers to where they're trying to stop the run,
much like Pike Road Band. You and I talked about
that during the week, and that's gonna be people's recipe
(01:28:14):
against us regardless. But you know, we're got to hit
some throws, you know, and and Jamari's got to make
some plays on the perimeter, and Brody Jones and some
of those guys. So but but it's three down bear front.
Try to spill everything the sideline and let their second
third level guys come up and make plays.
Speaker 12 (01:28:28):
Well.
Speaker 31 (01:28:28):
Coach, good luck. I know it's gonna be a big
one down. It's just important just to get this ending
started with a win.
Speaker 14 (01:28:35):
No doubt, no doubt. We're excited. But but it'll be
a big night for sure. We'll have to play really well.
Speaker 31 (01:28:39):
All right, Opealaika and Othan Friday night, you listen to
ninety seven point seven kick graph m right here and
coming up next, we've got the Valley Rams on the
way here on the high School Coaches Show.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
Here we go, Welcome back to Moe's Barbecue. Sight of
the high school coaches have to do that you know,
I never talk about here Wednesday night. That is an
integral part of our Coaches Show. Mister Richard Legraham, the commissioner,
longest running Lee County morning show host, is our host
here and helps us run the show. And I want
(01:29:13):
to thank you, Richard. Couldn't do it without your brother,
Am I wrong? We had a discombobulation. In the first week,
we were discombobulated. And now since Richard's here, we got
it all under control. He checks in our coaches, gives
them their footificates, gets them into order, and what oh yeah,
(01:29:33):
we got to pay for And I have to say
it was that gentleman's idea, right there, Van Moose Riggs.
So there you go, Thank you Richard, and thank you
Jason Lee for what you do. All right, he's our engineer.
Jeff Sasser. Good to see Dylan Griggs Russell County. My
head sets so hot because his football team is hot.
What's up, coach? How about that?
Speaker 15 (01:29:53):
I'm just happy to be here, guys. How are y'all doing?
Speaker 3 (01:29:55):
Man, I'm good And let me tell you something. I
was writing my column for the Over and I do
a recap and I saw Russell. I just said, good
for you, Dylan Griggs, right to myself Sunday when I
was riding that five and one, So congratulations, coach.
Speaker 15 (01:30:08):
Heck of a heck of a star for you boys
are playing horror, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:30:12):
And your team I should have said that, Yeah, they are.
Talk about the forty five twenty seven win over Valley
Less Friday night, you.
Speaker 15 (01:30:20):
Know, had a really big first half.
Speaker 13 (01:30:22):
You know, we pretty much I think offensively, we scored
every drive. They came out their first drive and scored
on us, and then we kind of got a little ahead,
and I feel like we kind of relaxed a little
bit at halftime and they kind of got it a little.
Speaker 15 (01:30:34):
Interesting there going to the fourth quarter.
Speaker 13 (01:30:37):
I'll tell you their quarterback from a running perspective as
some of the best I've probably seen in quite a while.
Kid is really special. I think, you know, the running
backs a good running back. He's had quite a season,
and he did last.
Speaker 12 (01:30:48):
Year as well.
Speaker 1 (01:30:49):
You know, just typical Valley team.
Speaker 15 (01:30:51):
They played hard.
Speaker 13 (01:30:51):
I mean, seven minutes left, it was an eleven point game. See,
they kind of came back on us. But you know,
I think also, you know, I think we needed that,
you know, because we're still trying to learn how to
handle winning a little bit and how to how you know,
to keep good practice habits and you know, not to
take things for granted. So oh, you know, I kind
of think getting hitting the mouth a little bit by
our defense, I think, you know, has kind of sparred
(01:31:13):
a great week of practice. But I mean I was
really impressed. You know, Coach does a great job with him.
And you know, I mean, I think that's a playoff
football team. And you know, I mean, I'm telling you know,
that quarterback over there from a running perspective, he is,
he is something to watch. So it's just really impressed.
But you know, overall, good four quarter team. You know,
good fourth quarter game by our guys, and you know,
we're just happy to get out there live.
Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
Before you say something, full wins in a row twenty one, seventeen,
forty nine, fourteen, I mean, nineteen sixty one, six forty five. Coach,
you're rolling some points, buddy, you know you're putting them
up now. And your loss it was twenty one and
thirty two in the other win. So tell me about
what's the I mean, you know what I mean, what's well.
Speaker 10 (01:31:51):
You know, I kind of think with the U.
Speaker 15 (01:31:52):
Fallow game, you know, I'll be honest with you. I
think our kids saw.
Speaker 3 (01:31:54):
This that was a thirty four to twenty one loss.
Speaker 13 (01:31:56):
For those that are listening, right, I think I think
that they kind of saw that they lost a book
tea and thought, oh, that was a for a And
I don't think you know, and we try to tell
them all week, you know, and I think, you know,
that's still kind of learning.
Speaker 15 (01:32:07):
You know, winning is not a switch that you can
turn on and off, you know, it is.
Speaker 13 (01:32:10):
It's a daily pursuit, you know, of of excellence, you know,
and and which and and you know, I think I
think that kind of you know, like I told you
that week, we got halftime fourteen to fourteen to a
semi final five a team and it you know, there's
not a word in the locker room. You know, you're
like something's wrong. And so you know, I really think
that you follow game, you know, kind of has propelled this.
(01:32:32):
You know, I still think what tunk is probably the
best defense in our region that I've seen all year,
you know, came out and really I think the defense
is the best, Yes, I do at this point, and
based off of what I've.
Speaker 3 (01:32:43):
Got them already. Yes, it's interesting other than what meant
not ten rupt you you got we.
Speaker 15 (01:32:48):
Still got pirate Rod, oh yeah, you hadn't payed. But
I think what Tunkin's defense is the best defense in
the region.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
How about that.
Speaker 13 (01:32:53):
I do think that, you know, I think that uh,
you know, that was a rainy game, but you know,
the thing about the Wa Tunka game. I think that
was finally where we finally learned how to get over
the hump, you know and actually beat somebody four quarter game.
And then you know, just at this point, I think
more is just a compass thing. But you know, the
offense we kind of felt like was going to be explosive,
and I think I said that preseason. You know, we
(01:33:13):
had a lot of guys back, and so you know,
the biggest thing for us right now is we just
don't want to be the best that we're supposed to be.
You know, we're not trying to be at the peak
or anything like that. You know, we're just trying to
keep them grounded and work the stew out of them.
And you know, I mean our goal, Like today we
got out to practice, and you know, it's not a
like practice for us on Wednesday. I mean, you know,
we're gonna try in thirty minutes, We're gonna try to
(01:33:34):
get forty five reps in thirty minutes, you know, and
then we'll go to inside and then we'll go back
and try to get another fifteen reps and another twenty.
You know, we're trying to play the game on Tuesday
and Wednesday. Then again, please if you will so in
our now, this is an afternoon this is an afternoon practice.
So on our Tuesdays or on Wednesdays, we'll try to
get forty five reps in thirty minutes. Thirty forty five
(01:33:58):
reps in thirty minutes.
Speaker 15 (01:34:00):
Okay, that's not that's really not that hard.
Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
I know, I'm just I'm following what you said, all right,
And so then we'll.
Speaker 13 (01:34:05):
Come back for twenty minutes and we'll try to get
fifteen reps. So we're trying to get a total of
sixty reps on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, because an average football
team in the game gets between fifty five sixty five
reps if it's a decent day. So we're trying to
play the game on Tuesdays and when.
Speaker 3 (01:34:18):
That's what I was curious for you.
Speaker 1 (01:34:19):
Okay, So, and that's a that's a that's a play
about every forty second you staying inside that you know
you have eleven twelve player.
Speaker 13 (01:34:28):
Now it helps that that we're just going left, middle, right,
and we're not going up and down the field.
Speaker 3 (01:34:32):
But I think that's interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:34:35):
I heard that, you know, Yeah, I go back to
that you follow game, coach, and you know everything you've
seen is so true. And of course I'm guessing that
all your kids know how to read, so they saw that. Well, yeah,
they don't realize Washington, That's what he was saying. Yeah,
everybody back and beat Jackson. Who's I was at Jackson
(01:34:55):
before I went to Pens, Right, I've been. I've been
to Jackson, Alabama?
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
Who was your head coach?
Speaker 6 (01:34:59):
Now, oh I was first.
Speaker 14 (01:35:05):
About No, I wasn't.
Speaker 13 (01:35:09):
Uh oh yeah, okay, but yes, I forgot you went
when I've been an Agilam.
Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
Yeah, that's a great place anyway. All right, let's talk
about us Mustangs.
Speaker 13 (01:35:22):
You know, I mean, you know, our big thing is
we we are to sixteen all time versus Stan Hope.
Speaker 3 (01:35:27):
Oh wow there.
Speaker 15 (01:35:28):
You know, so we are.
Speaker 13 (01:35:29):
We're going to go in this and try to stop
history from repeating itself. You know, they're a good football team.
I think you know the head coach, you know, he's
he's also the defensive coordinator. He's somebody that I've always
really respected as a play caller. I think he does
some really good things. I mean, you know they're three
and three right now. You know they're running back. Uh,
is one of the best running backs in the region.
I think he's actually averaging a little over two hundred
(01:35:51):
yards a game rushing over at stan Hope a game. Literally,
I think you could go to max preps and I
think it's like two o two. I think it's like
two o two per game.
Speaker 15 (01:36:00):
So you know, we've got to get in there and
we've got to stop him, and then, you know.
Speaker 13 (01:36:04):
Hope that we could continue to do what we're doing offensively.
You know, the one thing I'd like to see us
do a little bit more is control the clock. But
you know, sometimes just being explosive is being explosive.
Speaker 15 (01:36:12):
And it is what it is, you know.
Speaker 13 (01:36:14):
But you know, I think sometimes it might help our defense,
Like I do believe that some of that twenty seven
other day was because we were just scoring too.
Speaker 3 (01:36:21):
Fast, you know, and so that happens sometimes, you know,
they get gassed and your defense is going right back.
Speaker 1 (01:36:28):
Well that's what killed us, I think versus you follow.
Speaker 13 (01:36:29):
I think we had eighty reps on defense, Like I
know the I know the I know, I know the
Carrol game, we only had thirty two offense.
Speaker 15 (01:36:38):
I toold it was like thirty five. Great of the
offensive plays versus Carrol.
Speaker 3 (01:36:41):
You know, so what thirty two points. It's going too quick, coach,
better slow it down, all right? So right now with
your team, you're sitting here with one loss. That game
it mattered, but it didn't matter in the region. You
got a lot in front of you. Tell me what
you think right now and then moving forward your open
next week you got big huge region games with Rohobe
(01:37:02):
with and Pike Well, Pipe Road and Rehobe with.
Speaker 15 (01:37:04):
I think that we are just trying to stay week
to week.
Speaker 13 (01:37:06):
We're gonna hope to get out of a stand, hope
alive on Friday with a W and we're gonna come
back on Monday watching film.
Speaker 15 (01:37:12):
Give the boys a day off, work on Pike Road,
a little.
Speaker 13 (01:37:14):
Bit in ourselves for those for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, give
them Friday off and then you know, hopefully hit that
Pike Road a week and you know, see we can
do something special. I'm gonna say this, for a couple
of years you've talked about having these underclassmen on your team,
and now they're moving on up. So it's good to
see the good to see them guys hang with you
and you get the WS Coach, thanks you.
Speaker 6 (01:37:34):
Good luck.
Speaker 3 (01:37:34):
Good to see you and your wife. Keep it up
all right, thank you. Russell County going on the road
this week. Stand hopel Moore Friday night and then they're
open next week. They have lost one game, five in one,
so good luck to the Russell County Warriors. We're live
at Mo's Barbecue. High School Coaches Show continues Coach Middi Grider,
I think will be next when we come back. Welcome
(01:37:57):
back to High School Coaches Show on the Kicker, Fox
Sports nine, ten, thirteen ten. In the game we were
at Muse Barbecue. Jackson is command and control for us,
our producer.
Speaker 32 (01:38:07):
Yeah, Davante goes way back, very good player and student
athlete at the school and now coming back home to
be on the coaching staff. Coach Garrison's done a good
job of bringing back some former students into the program
and to help, you know, bring some life into that program.
And you know, Teachse's current guys the success that they've
had in the past. DeVante was on that team that
(01:38:27):
beat Opalaika several years ago, made a big run in
the playoffs, so definitely has that experience for these new
guys here.
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
How about that, what kind of teacher, was he? I'm
sorry kind of teacher, was he?
Speaker 6 (01:38:38):
It was a great team.
Speaker 3 (01:38:41):
I'm sure he is. All right, that's pretty good stuff,
right there, Jason. I like that, all right, Coach Smith,
I mean Smith played stand up last week twenty to zero.
Let's talk a little bit about the STANDOAP game last week.
Stay with us, Jason, you're okay.
Speaker 7 (01:38:55):
Yeah, it was a great game.
Speaker 33 (01:38:56):
I feel like we we had a lot of miscues
on offense, but you know, defense, we tried to hang
in there and just keep us in the game, and
you know, unfortunately we couldn't get the ball going how
we wanted it to. But we're gonna keep, you know,
keep trying and keep trying until we, you know, get us,
get us a better opportunity to win games.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
So I saw the O blacka game the first half.
I was on your sideline, your side, I was organized everything.
I have a lot of young faces over there, sir,
And yeah, I don't everybody's young in high school, but
you have you have some underclass you know, you have
a lot of ninth and tenth persons.
Speaker 1 (01:39:33):
Yes, I just noticed it, and I.
Speaker 3 (01:39:34):
Just said, you know, it's it's gonna You're gonna you're
gonna go through some learning growing pains, I would think.
And so that's what I've said, I did, you know,
that's just kind of what I thought. But I never
saw your team quit. I never heard anything ugly. I
never saw anything ugly. So I commend that to coach
Garrison and all you guys. Okay, so it's easy to
do things when you're losing. You know what I'm saying.
(01:39:56):
But I didn't see any of that. So I do
want to brag on you you and your got your
coach Garrison about that all right? This week coach JAG
former Jeff Davis out of Montgomery. Now you know that
from when you played a Central that's Jeff Davis. When
I think of them, I'm think of when I was younger, coach.
They were really good them days. They were winning state championships.
But talk about playing Jag this week. This is a
(01:40:17):
winnable game for you guys. It's a winnable Reagion game.
Speaker 7 (01:40:19):
We're expecting to win.
Speaker 33 (01:40:20):
We spending going there confident and and really show all
the work that we put in over the summer.
Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
Talk about what you see when you see Jag on film.
Speaker 33 (01:40:30):
You know, uh, they're just as as young as we are.
It looks like just looking at the film and uh,
like I said, I really feel like we have some
great matchups against them that we should win.
Speaker 7 (01:40:42):
But they they do.
Speaker 33 (01:40:43):
Uh, they do have some very fast kids and and
elusive kids that we got to make sure we keep
them contained. If we keep them contained, I feel like
we'll have a great game.
Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
Yeah that is speed, Yeah tough. What's their numbers?
Speaker 6 (01:40:56):
Like, I'm not a big.
Speaker 18 (01:40:59):
Team on film day?
Speaker 14 (01:41:01):
They they numbers?
Speaker 33 (01:41:02):
Yeah, on film they they're like a pretty big team.
But as far as the kids that they use, I
think I only use a few of the kids that
that we see that they really depend on.
Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
Probably got more depth.
Speaker 12 (01:41:12):
Then.
Speaker 3 (01:41:12):
Yes, they do see your team improving.
Speaker 33 (01:41:14):
Coach, I know you got l's, but you know you
tell me honestly, Really, the resiliency is going up. We're
we're finally seeing that we can compete and after and
that's why I tell my kids every week, like, hey,
we start fast instead of you know, we get scared
by looking at the big names and we see those
upper classmen. Like I said, we're very young, so they
(01:41:37):
are kind of intimidated. But uh, once they see that
they actually can compete. They as you can see, like,
as as the game goes on, we get better. So
I feel like if we can just start fast and
put it all together, they'll be they'll be great in
the next couple of years.
Speaker 14 (01:41:51):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
You got to keep them, keep them out there too, sir.
What about your JB middle school, I don't know, junior high,
middle school, whatever?
Speaker 33 (01:41:59):
You Yeah, our middle school, our middle school is doing
really good. We have a really good running back in
the eighth grade that we've been looking at.
Speaker 7 (01:42:07):
And our JV.
Speaker 33 (01:42:08):
A lot of our JV guys are our starters on
our varsity. So that's why we were kind of what
it was, yes sir, your Monday, Yes, sir.
Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
So yeah, it's tough.
Speaker 33 (01:42:20):
Yeah, yeah, So that's how young we are. We we're
using the same guys that we are using on varsity.
So just trying to make sure that they get the
most experience they can so when they get upper in
their upper classmen ear it'll be easier for them.
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
There you go, all right, Jack this week, then you
go to Auburn, sir, Back to enterprise. That's a tough,
tough road. Thank you for being Here's good to see
on that Mark Rose team folks that went to the
semis or quarters. Sir, good to see you, sir, Thank you,
you got it. That's miss stationed. We're at the Coaching Show.
(01:42:54):
The notice Suckle Blue Devils are on deck when we
come back.
Speaker 1 (01:43:03):
And welcome back to the high School Coaching Show. We
got Southern Prep up and we're at Moe's Original Barbecue
and it's talked to you by the Orthopede Clinic and
Glorie's Furniture Express and we got Coach Newman and Coach
Reese from Southern Prep. Good afternoon, coaches.
Speaker 10 (01:43:19):
How are y'all good?
Speaker 6 (01:43:20):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (01:43:20):
I'm doing very well?
Speaker 6 (01:43:21):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:43:22):
Last week we'll talk about this one briefly. You played
Making Ease, a team that was playing eleven man football
last year at the highest level.
Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
Eleven eleven man in the AISA. Now they're eight man team.
Speaker 1 (01:43:32):
You lost fifty six twenty four. You don't talk about
that one briefly.
Speaker 7 (01:43:37):
All story on.
Speaker 20 (01:43:39):
I mean on the defensive side of the ball, I
put together a defense and we were there and we
were in position, but.
Speaker 7 (01:43:48):
We just couldn't make a tackle.
Speaker 20 (01:43:49):
I mean, they they have a big running back and
I just yeah, they're running back had a heck of
a game. But I mean, we should have made tackles
where we need to and we would have been fine.
Speaker 7 (01:44:01):
But in any time that I.
Speaker 20 (01:44:03):
Tried to sell out the linebacker that wasn't hitting well
to put somebody in that would hit well, they'd roll
a tight end out and the other guy would get burned.
But so any adjustment I tried to make would didn't work.
And then I totally switched defenses from the four to
two look to a three three. I blitzed, I stayed home,
(01:44:25):
blitzed one, stayed one at home, and nothing seemed to work.
So hats off to make an east.
Speaker 1 (01:44:32):
They had an answer for whatever you threw about them,
my coach, this week Lakeside, Lakeside in you Fall. You're
hosting them, right we are, yes, sir, right now. This
this is a short turnaround. They just played two days
ago and now they're gonna.
Speaker 34 (01:44:46):
Play against They had a hard, physical game Monday night
against Springwoods, so hopefully that works for our advantage. They're
hopefully beating down a little big on the springbo with
their physical team, so hopefully they.
Speaker 6 (01:44:55):
Ran all over them.
Speaker 1 (01:44:55):
And I know the Feeders are hurt because they got CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:44:58):
CJ did his thing against them.
Speaker 1 (01:45:00):
Yeah, so oh y'all know, yeah, Hey, Greg had a
good diet, a big passages.
Speaker 34 (01:45:08):
So we hopefully they're you know, they're looking their wounds
a little bit and they're coming to us. But that
doesn't mean nothing. We haven't Uh this year has been
rough for us that we're gonna trying to find somebody
wants to play. It seems like every week I can't
find eight that want to be out.
Speaker 12 (01:45:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, Well.
Speaker 1 (01:45:22):
How are y'all physically? I mean, I mean your your
players physically.
Speaker 3 (01:45:26):
Coached in terms of health wise, yeah, we're all healthy.
Speaker 34 (01:45:29):
I just don't think their heads are in it right now.
They see that we're one and five and they're like, up,
we're already losing.
Speaker 15 (01:45:34):
It was like, well, we had if we went out.
Speaker 34 (01:45:36):
I mean, we have a winning record, we got a
favorable end of the schedule.
Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
Put all the hard teams up front.
Speaker 34 (01:45:41):
They don't see that coach, and they don't and we're
trying to push them every day and they just haven't,
you know what, haven't bought in coach.
Speaker 1 (01:45:48):
I'm looking at all of the I with the exception
of Stuart County, Georgia, which is historically pretty good.
Speaker 34 (01:45:53):
I think, yeah, all right, they were playing the past
two years. It's been a competitive game the past two years.
Speaker 1 (01:45:57):
So uh but yeah, North River christ met of you Christian, uh,
Southern Christian, and Lakeside who just dropped one Monday night,
and so they'll be done.
Speaker 17 (01:46:06):
It's a favorable last five games of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:46:08):
And the kids that I just I don't know. You
know what, though, you're one of the few that can
sit here and be honest about it. Yeah, well I
love that. No, but no, I mean you just yeah,
I can see what you're saying. You're going well, but
also see what he was talking.
Speaker 12 (01:46:24):
About in the game. I don't know, if you want
to say something.
Speaker 20 (01:46:26):
Yeah, it's it's it's been hard just trying to trying
to get their minds right. I mean, I think after
the spring Wood game, we had them close. I mean
we were tied and the you did fourth quarter and
then they scored and we returned to kickoff for a touchdown,
got called back and ended up losing that game. And
something some flip switched after that game, and we came
(01:46:49):
out against evangel just played horrible and I've never seen
anything like that. And then it's followed ever since. So
hopefully this week we had we probably had the best
practice we've had all week yesterday, so people were wanting
to hit, they were wanting to be physical, and I
just hope that we can translate that into the game
(01:47:10):
on Friday.
Speaker 7 (01:47:11):
There you go.
Speaker 34 (01:47:12):
I mean, I many kids y'all got playing coach, maybe
maybe twenty twenty, but I mean did actually play.
Speaker 1 (01:47:20):
Actually play probably twelve twelve.
Speaker 3 (01:47:22):
So out of the eight y'all play eight, you got
twelve of them to eight.
Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
Okay, I mean does he played both sides?
Speaker 3 (01:47:29):
Nose Garden is a man.
Speaker 34 (01:47:31):
He has got Yeah, he's he's uh whenever, yeah, by far,
whenever he gets his when he wants to do it,
he'll play hard first play, the next play, and he's like,
I don't care his plays and be hard as he can.
And I don't know, but uh, I mean we play
making east. They were up ifty to eight at half
against us, and then we end up making it respectable
on the scoreboard a little bit in the second half.
(01:47:53):
They just don't play hard first some reason. We have
yet to come out and score drive first drive of
the offense all year, and I'm just like, why, why
do the chewed you out for you to start playing hard.
Speaker 3 (01:48:03):
Why is that he tried that?
Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
Oh yeah, okay, he said, oh yeah, I tried. Really
they I think we're gonna try it before the game.
That's usually effective method in football.
Speaker 13 (01:48:15):
All.
Speaker 1 (01:48:15):
I mean, it's always worked for me.
Speaker 34 (01:48:16):
Yea, yeah, but much senior leadership or yeah, we have
you shouldn't think you need that.
Speaker 15 (01:48:23):
Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 12 (01:48:24):
I appreciate y'all.
Speaker 18 (01:48:25):
Yeah, I appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Appreciate every Wednesday, y'all do. It means a lot. You know,
y'all have had a great program. You having a tough
view this year. He keeps up with it a lot.
I appreciate what y'all do.
Speaker 6 (01:48:35):
We appreciate you having.
Speaker 3 (01:48:36):
Yeah, Jeff keeps up with eight man. He's the best.
I just let him do it.
Speaker 1 (01:48:39):
Well, we're doing it a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
I know from Ballard back when Ballard if y'all.
Speaker 1 (01:48:44):
Yeah, what haven't they want to try state by state?
Speaker 6 (01:48:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
I have had all the stats, so I just gone,
he knows about who plays eight eleven. But thank y'all,
good luck. Okay, So the prep they got Lakeside at
camp Hill, all right, Friday night, Well with the guard
at the High School Coaches Show. As we continue for Moles,
We're back at the High School.
Speaker 1 (01:49:06):
Coaching Show right here at Moe's Original Barbecues, brought to
you by the Fourth the Pede Clinic and Gorye's Furniture Express.
And next up, of course, is coach Joey Burt from Springwood. Coach,
Good afternoon, how are you.
Speaker 4 (01:49:18):
I'm doing well?
Speaker 1 (01:49:19):
How about you, Joe? I'm doing really good. Hey, big
win Monday days ago.
Speaker 4 (01:49:23):
Two days ago. Yeah, very odd situation, but it was
a was a big win for it. Lake Side had
a pretty good football team that just dropped from eleven
man to eight man, so they had of course a
larger larger roster than what did and they had a
lot of good athletes and it was just a physical
football game. So we was proud to get out of
there with a big win.
Speaker 7 (01:49:41):
I did that?
Speaker 4 (01:49:42):
Is it the Johnson's Yeah, the Johnson do well. Cee
j just took over the game at up running back.
It was tied sixteen sixteen at halftime, went back and forth.
Greg his older brother, had a couple of big catches
across the middle to kind of opened it up so
we can let him run every by packed some boxing
there in second half, we played a real physical defense
and then you know, we just gave CJ the ball.
(01:50:04):
I think he ran twenty seven times and had had
about two hundred and sixty seventy yards.
Speaker 12 (01:50:09):
Something like that.
Speaker 4 (01:50:09):
So I mean he broke two or three open on
long runs. Made some great highlight film cuts on some
of those runs.
Speaker 3 (01:50:16):
Yeah, So everybody sees CJ run, they know they got
to stop himing.
Speaker 4 (01:50:19):
If I was playing us, that's what I do. And
then you go to his brother, then we go Yeah.
And we also have a Clarence Moore. He's another kid
we got this year from Opulaca. He's a small kid
in size. He's probably he says he's five to eight.
He's probably five five. What's his name, Clarence More. Yeah,
we call him Cibo, and he's got good feet and
good speed on outside and he's developed into a pretty
(01:50:42):
good receiver in my quarterback west cardin he struggled, you know,
first couple of games. You know, we were two and
two and he was averaging about two interceptions per game,
and he is really kind of doing what we thought
he would do. He settled down, he's learned the game.
He's getting the pocket presence and he's not making any
rush throws anymore, bad throws anymore. He is really, you know,
(01:51:04):
the last two games developed into a good football quarterback.
He's a sophomore.
Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Sophomore.
Speaker 4 (01:51:09):
I worked from here young team. I only have like
two or three seniors.
Speaker 1 (01:51:13):
Greg one of them.
Speaker 4 (01:51:14):
Greg's one of them. Uh huh.
Speaker 1 (01:51:15):
And you got c. J. Hughes is a junior.
Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
He's a junior.
Speaker 4 (01:51:18):
Jemanni Rowe is another kid. He's about six y six,
first year playing football for us. It's tough on them.
It's just a unique thing. I'm glad that they get
that experience and get to play. Yeah, we actually go
too from Germany. We've got a junior this year and
he's a pretty good football player. You know, he's been
playing some JV games to get his feet wet. But
he's very, very coachable. And and his name is Juliet
(01:51:41):
And uh if I could tell his last name and
pronounce it, I would, but I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
How's the communication with him?
Speaker 4 (01:51:49):
They speak English real well, Okay, we only get very
few that don't. We have some guys from the Congo
that spoke French as the primary language and they had
a tough time picking up thanks, but most of us
them are very proficient in it.
Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
When they got here. Football to them was that round
ball that you kick around on the ground. Most of
them think that, yeah, yeah, yeah, and your is rugby.
I mean, is that just like Australia and England kind
of thing?
Speaker 15 (01:52:13):
I guess it is.
Speaker 4 (01:52:13):
And I don't know how big it is over there either,
you know, as far as being followed.
Speaker 3 (01:52:17):
Yeah, yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (01:52:19):
One night we talked about a manage. They're gonna be
spread out.
Speaker 4 (01:52:22):
Oh yeah, Evangel's gonna, like I said, one extreme to
another Lakeside was a two tight end I formation, big
old backs gonna pound it, and Evangel is gonna be
the exact opposite. They're gonna spread everybody out with very
athletic receivers and quarterbacks and try to get you in
space and just make you mistacles.
Speaker 3 (01:52:39):
They're having a pretty good season, coach.
Speaker 4 (01:52:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
They're four and one in the region, four and two overall.
You know, I don't know who who they've lost to,
but they're having a good time.
Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
They're good football team and we're played two football good
football teams in one week. It's it's what a word
about it?
Speaker 1 (01:52:53):
That is tough for everybody healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:52:55):
We are considering we're coming off. You know, we took
Monday as a game day, and then we took Tuesday,
which is usually a long practice, and we just watched film.
We went out and we just ran very little to
kind of get some blood flowing in their muscles and
just trying to lift the legs get back underneath them.
Fo we have to bloat up and play again.
Speaker 3 (01:53:13):
What are you doing on a Thursday now?
Speaker 1 (01:53:15):
I mean, I mean with a short week like this.
