see you too. Good to be here, man, It is
good to be here, you know. I look for this
is the time of the year. I look forward to
the Wednesday nights that we all get to hang out
and oh yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Talk a little ball.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
That's right, get a little cooler, now, get a little breeze,
and then getting.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
A nice coach.

Speaker 5 (01:01):
Oh yeah, sure, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Hey, last week he played, yes, sir, and you won. Yes,
he scored some points forty one thirteen. Coach, you don't
tell us about that one.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah, man, we come off over the kickoff though, we
come out of hit hit the guy in the head.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Here we go, here we go.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
But coach throning, the defense is able to get.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
A stop just like that, and uh, we was able.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
To score next it's the same series and scored three
in a row, went up twenty one zero in the
first quarter. Kind of spun up there in the second quarter,
but defense kept kept doing everything and holding them, and
then we end up doing a better job in the
second half of scoring more points. But coach throwing defense
did a phenomenal job on on Friday night.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Y'all want to talk about some individuals we played well,
coach Ea, yeah, we'll start with offense.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Well word offensively man, you know, like kJ Carter quarterback
he's having our standing season.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
He has We talk about him every week every week.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Yeah, twenty seven total touchdowns, he has nine hundred and
fifty something yards rushing, seven hundred and some odd rush passing.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
So he's probably.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
Gonna be a thousand thousand guys here soon. And he's
a dual threat athlete. He's a leader. He been he's
been playing well for us. I mean, I'm proud of
the way he's been playing. So he had a good game.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I heard your way back, But I want to say,
Patrick Moore? Was that the right Is that the right name?
Several years ago when uh he was a dual threat
guy did about the same.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah, all on Patrick Moore from FOP might be right
way man, it.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Was you might be right been playing.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
I know my boy will listen to my man this
moss about that.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
I want to say that that was the name he
was just like if he was number one.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
I see his picture up on up there a lot,
and he was a big guy, the taller guy and
a good athlete.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
I was just I was just reminiscent way back, yeah
for sure.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Okay, but but yeah he did he had a good
job of Hay limbskon Man one of my receivers. Uh,
he played well man he called he called a couple
of big passes on the second and the second half.
Well going to the second half and got us going again.
And Travis Andrews plays both ways. Return guy he returned
the punt, had two interceptions. I guess how let Coach
Stone talk about him because he played offense and defense.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Defense came out and played pretty good.

Speaker 7 (03:19):
Now, you pride ourselves on trying to hold our opponents
like fifty percent on their possessions. And if I can
recall right, they had eleven total possessions.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
We had eight three and outs.

Speaker 7 (03:29):
Also had two interceptions and a force force a farmer
and recovered that former as well. And uh they played
great as a unit. But individually we had Zi Minifield
that lines up at outside lineback because I had eleven
total tackles, eight solo tackles, three three tackles for lost
three assists, also had a sack and one hurry uh

(03:50):
and Mitchester Near that played lines up at defensive end.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
He also had an outstanding night.

Speaker 7 (03:54):
He had eight solo tackles and had one sack and
two Quarterback Hervey so Uh and also the guy he
just missing mentioning Travis Andrews. He had two intercepts from himself.
So they came out and played with the with with
the aroon file.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
This Travison one that had the punt return.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Ye, they have the punt return to he got always
played a week.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah, all right, hey, you're going You're going outside the
region this.

Speaker 8 (04:17):
Week, he got.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
You're at Pike Liberal Arts. You want to know against
some all time coach, you've clinched, by the way, you've
clinched a third third spot. So you're gonna have to
I don't guess you know where you'll be going at
this point, but got an idea they gonna.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Be going down south somewhere with the Louverne and Ghost
somewhere and somewhere around there, kind of back to the
Detroit area, Yes, sir, all.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Right, well good, hey, let's talk about Pike Liberal Arts.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Uh, Pike leve Man coach well by mcgille. They him
and the Stone real good buddies. Uh they will coach Man.
Those guys play fund him in the sound. They had
a couple of bad breaks here and there. The record
don't show as good as they are, Honestly, Uh, but
they've been they've been playing playing pretty good ball.

Speaker 9 (04:55):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
They played physical. You know, they got a couple athletes
on the edges that can they can play.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
So it'll be exciting for us to go down there,
man and and see how we how we handle the travel,
how we handled the charter bus, how we get off
the bus, you know, and how we play against a
solid football team.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
To try to gets prepared to go and play in
the playoffs the following two weeks afterwards, because we off
next week.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
You got the off week, coach.

Speaker 10 (05:19):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Is that by design or just the way it worked out?

Speaker 4 (05:22):
The other way it worked out when I got here,
the schedules mate by all the other places I've been,
all the central Uh, we always had that by week
at the end of the season. Try to you know, reset,
go in the row, take a week off, and get
ready for the next season, which is the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I've noticed online with the coaches that are on our show,
there's a lot of I don't know how many's six, seven,
eight open weeks next week. Yeah, and you know a
lot of them do that. But if everybody does that,
you don't get to.

Speaker 11 (05:48):
Go look at the other.

Speaker 6 (05:52):
Look at the other team we coach that good luck.
That's a music plan, But I mean time time to
your food. Fly wait, coming down to mold.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
It's good to see you, Coach Stone, Coach Brandon Hall. Hey,
we'll be back at the High School Coach Show. Next
up will be you a high school maybe coach courses here.
We'll be right back here listening to the High School
Coaches Show.

Speaker 12 (06:20):
Welcome back here on the High School Coaches Show.

Speaker 13 (06:22):
Van Rady is jumping in here for d Mark and
Jeff and catching up here with coach Brian Moore and
OPLAKA Bulldogs. Coming up this week, we'll have the regular
season finale here a week before the Halloween week and
week nine of the high school football season and it's
the Carver Wolverines inside Bulldog Stadium. Coach tough loss last
week against Central and just kind of tell us, you know,

(06:44):
I think at times did some really good things, but
I know, of course, you know, Central was a tall task, really.

Speaker 14 (06:50):
Really good team. I did think we played better than
a week ago, which again kind of makes me sick
of my stomach to think about, you know, playing better,
but getting you know, getting beat at that's not what
we do here. You know, ultimately, man, we've got to
play more consistently. I think the moments were better, but
the overall performance was not there. And you know, our
coaching staff and players, you know, we're working to bounce

(07:12):
back from that, you know. I think for us, you know,
we've just got to play more consistently.

Speaker 15 (07:17):
Throughout, you know, all four quarters.

Speaker 14 (07:18):
And but I will say this, I thought I thought
we went toe to toe.

Speaker 15 (07:22):
Early in the game.

Speaker 14 (07:22):
I thought we had a chance to cut it to
a one score lead in the third quarter and just
couldn't do it again, drove into the red zone and
had a negative play.

Speaker 15 (07:29):
And that's kind of been the story of the year.

Speaker 14 (07:31):
So got to be more efficient, got to continue to
get better on defense. We will have some guys back
this week that we haven't had that. You know, It's
just been one of those years as far as injuries.
But it's nice to get healthy early. Qudrit Burt's will play.
He's kind of he's our leader defensively, and he hadn't
played since the Auburn game, you know, so it'll be
nice to have him back and hopefully we can put
a you know, four quarter performance together this week.

Speaker 13 (07:51):
And offensively, had a software quarterback going for you just
his third start as a Bulldog, a tough place to play.

Speaker 12 (07:56):
He did some good things.

Speaker 13 (07:57):
I know there's some things he needs to work on,
but I intensively, I know you still struggle to try
to find a way.

Speaker 12 (08:02):
To put some more points on the board. With this team.

Speaker 15 (08:04):
You got to have more balance. I mean, Wit, it's
gonna have to hit some throws.

Speaker 14 (08:06):
I mean, and you know, I think we've got a
really good receiving corps. I mean, I think we're better
at receiver than we were a year ago. And it's
been frustrating at times because we've started three different quarterbacks
to kind.

Speaker 15 (08:15):
Of get in rhythm, you know.

Speaker 14 (08:17):
But I think Wit in his third start now and
now he's played basically in five straight games, starting to
gain some confidence, and there were some things that he
did well, You're right, Van in the central game, I
really thought that there were some big throws that he made,
some throws to keep us on the grass to get
first downs that I thought were huge. So we're only
going to see grow from this tenth grader. I mean,
the kid can't drive a car yet. So we've got

(08:39):
some things that we're still working through. And but Wit
Cooper's a winner from a great family, and you know
he's going to improve as we continue.

Speaker 13 (08:46):
Talking with coach Brian Moore here on the High School
Coaches Show here at mos Barbecue, Bent Creek in Auburn
and c J. Johnson, coach was on play some defense
for you on Friday night at Central Boys or anything
he can't do.

Speaker 15 (08:57):
He's a special player.

Speaker 14 (08:58):
I mean he's also going to be on four difference
rucial teams groups.

Speaker 15 (09:02):
He's a guy that impacted the game on both sides.

Speaker 14 (09:04):
I mean, obviously had the thirty plus yard touchdown run
that was called back which hurt.

Speaker 15 (09:08):
He had a strip sack fumble.

Speaker 14 (09:09):
I mean, he's the first kid that I've had since
I've been here that has played both ways.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Really.

Speaker 14 (09:13):
I mean, Leland Bale has a little bit, but you know,
as far as you know in these crucial moments, you
know cjsn on big third downs and fourth downs.

Speaker 15 (09:20):
And you're gonna see his role grow.

Speaker 14 (09:21):
I mean, he's a kid that's got to play and
he can impact the game in a lot of different ways.

Speaker 13 (09:26):
And it says a lot for a kid that you
know is willing to do that. I know, sometimes you
run into the situations where I'm just an offensive player,
I'm just a defensive player, and I won't do that for.

Speaker 15 (09:34):
The team absolutely.

Speaker 14 (09:35):
I mean I think for him, he just wants to
win and uh, you know again that's not going to
change his touches.

Speaker 15 (09:40):
You know, on offense. We made sure that we.

Speaker 14 (09:42):
Uh you know, established that with him because of the
division will running back maybe a power four back, and
uh we challenged him man after the after the Enterprise game,
I didn't think he played great, and then he turns
around and plays his best. I mean, and that's that's
type of kid C. J. Johnson is. I mean, he's
he's a great leader for our team. You know, obviously
he's a special talent, but he's making a difference in
these ballgames.

Speaker 13 (10:02):
Coach Brian Moore, we're talking about Carver coming up on
Friday night, and coach boy, they went on the road
and really took one on the chin last week against Auburn.
I know you've watched film on that game and tried
to take away what you can from that one. But
you know, this is a this is a Carver team
that you know put up almost forty points on Central
and so they're a cable of putting up some points.

Speaker 12 (10:22):
I know you've got your hands full of Friday night.

Speaker 14 (10:23):
Well, first, Auburn played really well in the game against Carver.
I mean I was like, I heard the halftime score,
you know, thirty one to seven, and you know you
would have thought, well, maybe it was a turnover here
and there, maybe it was a you know, a fumble,
you know, return for a touchdown or whatever.

Speaker 15 (10:36):
No, Auburn just drove the wall on I mean.

Speaker 14 (10:38):
And really ended up kicking two field goals at the
end of the game too. I mean, an Auburn played
extremely well, had a great plan. Obviously the quarterback's a
difference maker, but Carver's really really good.

Speaker 15 (10:47):
I mean, you know this.

Speaker 14 (10:48):
Same team that went to Enterprise and put forty on
them at halftime. You know, just they're so explosive, a
dynamic with their quarterback.

Speaker 15 (10:54):
Three.

Speaker 14 (10:55):
He's a difference maker texas A and M commit as
a receiver, but can literally throw the ball set in
the yards. He's done it on film. I've never seen
anything like it. And then he's four to three speed
down the sideline. So this is a true dual threat.

Speaker 15 (11:06):
Kid.

Speaker 14 (11:07):
Their best players are off scrambles with him, finding guys
behind the defense.

Speaker 15 (11:10):
That happened one time.

Speaker 14 (11:11):
The only touchdown against Auburn was they got a guy
in the.

Speaker 15 (11:14):
Middle of the field off of scrambles. So we'll have
to know where those guys.

Speaker 14 (11:17):
Are, stay connected in the back end, and then our
rush lanes have to be incredible this week to keep
him in the pocket.

Speaker 12 (11:23):
Coach, very important game for you too.

Speaker 13 (11:25):
I mean you lock up a really a three seed
with this win over Central, and then you know Auburn
takes care of business down in the wiregrass Overdothing and yeah,
I tell you, Coach, it's just it's a huge game.
You got a community pep Rallley tomorrow. I know the
fan base. You really want them to come out and
get behind the dogs Friday night at Senior Night. Send
these seniors off right with a win and punch another
ticket to the playoffs.

Speaker 15 (11:45):
Well, I mean, you're absolutely right.

Speaker 14 (11:47):
It's a massive game, not only for this group of seniors,
but our program in general. Right, because every year that
you go to the playoffs and start to make these runs,
that becomes what you do right, and your kids sort
of feed on that success.

Speaker 15 (11:59):
I mean, that's how you build it.

Speaker 14 (12:00):
That's how you build programs, a couple of teams step up,
you know, make the run and next thing.

Speaker 15 (12:04):
You know, that's everybody expects it.

Speaker 14 (12:06):
All the freshmen and seventh and eighth graders coming up,
they just know that that's what we do. We play
in November, you know, and play our best ball then.
But we're gonna need our fans. I mean, if you
look at our games Dothan and Pike Road, our fans
absolutely impacted both of those games. All right, our band
impacted those games, and we're gonna have to have them
this week to get another win. And we need our
people loud, you know, third and fourth down, critical down scenarios,

(12:26):
red zone scenarios.

Speaker 15 (12:28):
We've got to have people on their feet making noise.

Speaker 14 (12:30):
Fifteen false Stars versus Pike Road, and our fans did that,
and that's that's the kind of thing that can help
us put people behind the chains.

Speaker 15 (12:37):
And we just need people to come out and then
honor these seniors. I mean, this is what it's about.

Speaker 16 (12:40):
Man.

Speaker 14 (12:41):
They get one shot at this year, their senior year,
and we want to make the most of it and
send them out the right way.

Speaker 13 (12:46):
As coach Brian Moore will continue on more of a
mose Barbecue. Don't forget Opalaika and Carbor inside Bulldog Stadium
Friday nights, seven o'clock. We'll have it for you right
here on ninety seven pointy seven Get for FM or
The High School Coaching Show from Mose Barbecue continues after
this here on the Kicker Welcome Back High School Coaches Show.

(13:08):
We're live at Most Barbecue, Bent Creek in Auburn. Bean
Riggs jumping in here for de Mark and Jeff and
we're talking Valley High School Football or Rams clinch the
number two seed last week with a big win over
Hope Boy coach Adam Hunter joins up with us. They
got bored Guard this week. Coach first Off, congratulations at win.
I know was was a big win forty six to fourteen,

(13:29):
but getting the home playoff game means a lot.

Speaker 17 (13:31):
Yeah, you know, we talked about it with our kids.
It was senior night, you know, so you know our
kids played with a lot of motion.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
That was good.

Speaker 17 (13:38):
You know, you have a tendency when you win a
big game against we would come out of Elmore County
and you went at the end, you have a tendency
to kind of have a letdown game after that and
I really thought our kids bounced back well after that
close win and you know, really prepared to play hopeful
and played well after you know, the first two drives office.
So we got a field gold on the first drive

(13:58):
and you know, kind of stalled a little bit the
second drive.

Speaker 18 (14:00):
Offensive we got.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
In a rhythm. Caden Foreman did really well.

Speaker 17 (14:04):
He actually passed the uh these the all time leader
in Valley football passing so far. So you know, he
broke sixteen hundred yards so far for the season and
hopefully we'll continue that and it'll that number grow. So,
you know, our hats off to him, hats off to
our offensive line for doing a good job protecting for him.
So and our receivering corps, you know, they've done an

(14:25):
exceptional job. We got four guys that we really feel
can can can you know, stretch the field and get
open and we can get the ball to him. So,
you know, just a good job offensively on the night,
and a good job defensively.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
We didn't give up.

Speaker 9 (14:38):
We gave up a trick play for a.

Speaker 17 (14:39):
Touchdown and then last with about thirty seconds left, we
gave up a long touchdown pass. You know, we're trying
to get some young guys in to play a little bit.
So you know, overall, I thought we've played really well.

Speaker 12 (14:51):
Hopeful was a team.

Speaker 13 (14:52):
I know after that big emotional win against Elmore County,
the guys could get caught up looking at the record
and how the team struggled a little bit. You didn't
have that let down, came out and played good because
you know, now I look at the next two weeks
on the schedule, You've already locked up the number two seeds.
Sometimes there can be a letdown after that. You've got
two more games to go. You're off week was early
in the season.

Speaker 17 (15:09):
Yeah, you know it's gonna be. It'll be a tell
tale sign in the last two weeks. You know, we've
got to really play good this game. You know against Boreguard.
This is they're good football team, their physical football team,
big football team. So you know, you tend to have
those let downs, and it's tough for high school kids
to kind of really dig in right there at the
last of the season. When you've got that accomplishment, you've
got a home playoff game. You know you can't better

(15:31):
yourself in the region as far as you know your seed,
so you know you have a tendency to have a letdown.
But hopefully our guys respond, Hopefully our guys play hard.
Hopefully their goal now is to be eight and two,
you know, try to win these last two games, and
you know we haven't done that since twenty eleven, so
you know, win in eight games in the regular season

(15:51):
would be big for us. Hosting that playoff game, can
that momentum over into it would be.

Speaker 12 (15:56):
Yeah, several those years you were stuck in six.

Speaker 19 (15:58):
AG, Yeah, we were.

Speaker 17 (15:59):
Yeah, you know, we we had some tough years, some
good stretches through there. You know, twice we went six
A and you know we really you know, struggled in
six A, you know, with our numbers and all.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
But you know that that's something you know, you have
to overcome.

Speaker 17 (16:12):
And I think it's built us and you know our
program has grown from that. You know, I think we've
got a lot tougher, Our kids have gotten tougher.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
So you know, we've got to bounce back.

Speaker 17 (16:20):
Really, you know, do good this game carried over into
the next one, and really carry that over into the playoffs.

Speaker 13 (16:26):
How did that help you your guys as a coaching
staff too, I know that's a challenge, you know, coaching
at competition. I know, you know there's a fine line
between some of the six A and five A schools,
but sometimes there's a big jump, you know, there there was.

Speaker 17 (16:38):
You know, when we was in six A, we talked
to it as a coaching staff, so I got some
of the same coaches that were still with me. Then
you know the level of athletes we played week in
and week out. We played a Division one player every week,
you know, in six A, but you don't see that
in five A. You know, you see college prospects in
five A, but you don't see a couple of Division
one players every week in five A. And that's something

(16:59):
you do in six A. So you know, it was big,
and then you know we're trying to We had to
play a couple guys both ways throughout the years.

Speaker 20 (17:06):
And you can't do that at six A be successful.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
It's hard to do.

Speaker 17 (17:09):
You have to have special kids nowadays to do that.
So you know, it did help us grow. I thought
we competed well in six A and it carried over
into into five A. We had a couple of years
where we got banged up in five A and it
kind of hurt us a little bit, But you know,
we had a seven and three year a couple of
years ago when Cam Dooley and then we're seniors that
made it to the first run of playoffs. Should have
won that game in the in the playoffs. So you know,

(17:30):
they've kind of built the framework and we've kind of
you know, continued on with that.

Speaker 13 (17:35):
So all right, Valley Coach Adam Hunter joining up with
us o' go to Boorguard on Friday night. Then next
week another game at Davil So two road games to
finish out the season. But you do have the home
game coming up on November the seventh. Apply opponent to
be determined. I'm guessing still on that one.

Speaker 19 (17:49):
It's actually Chevy County.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
It's locked in, locked in, So there you go.

Speaker 12 (17:52):
All right, Well that that helps you a lot.

Speaker 9 (17:54):
That's right.

Speaker 13 (17:54):
You know, kind of know who you're playing, but need
a big crowd. I know, travel with you to boorgof
Friday night.

Speaker 17 (17:58):
That's right, we do, all right, coach, good luck, appreciate it, right,
thank you, go around they Coach.

Speaker 13 (18:02):
Adam Hunter will continue with more of the High School
Coaches Show that's on the way. Next we're live at
mose Barbicue Bent Creek and Auburn. De Mark and Jeff
back with more after this.

Speaker 19 (18:13):
Man, welcome back most barbeque. On a beautiful Wednesday in
East Alabama, high school coaches show de Mark, Jeff, Jason,
Lee Van Riggs were live. We got Auburn High coaches
in the house. Gentlemen, good evening. Hello, Hello, we doing tonight.

Speaker 21 (18:27):
Coach doing great, doing great, And I.

Speaker 19 (18:29):
Know you two guys are doing good coming off and
it doesn't feel good out here though. First man, it
feels great at here.

Speaker 22 (18:35):
I know we started, we got it, we got it,
We got it started this morning early.

Speaker 21 (18:39):
It felt so good outside this morning. Almost still little
chilly as a matter of fact.

Speaker 19 (18:42):
Yeah, it does give a little. It does get a
little bit cold, all right. Coach coming off a forty
noe a forty one seven. I was right, forty one
seven win over exactly the same scores. Look at that. Hey,
you go forty one seven win over Carver at the
Duck last week, your last regular season on game. Congrats
on win at Senior night.

Speaker 21 (19:01):
Yeah it's great. I got to celebrate our seniors.

Speaker 22 (19:04):
You know, great group of guys and you know, just
send them out at the Duck regular season with a win.

Speaker 19 (19:12):
Okay, who played well for you, coach?

Speaker 3 (19:14):
A lot of people.

Speaker 22 (19:15):
Casey Myers played lights out sixteen for nineteen two hundred
sixty nine yards, four touchdowns, also had a rushing touchdown.
All the receivers played really really good offensive line.

Speaker 21 (19:25):
Best game they played probably all year. When you say
clay a little bit, and you know, defense was lights
out all night.

Speaker 22 (19:33):
I mean to hold them to seven points, what I
mean you look at what they've done to everybody. I
think I think the only person to hold them to.

Speaker 19 (19:40):
That was was probably.

Speaker 21 (19:43):
The first game of the year.

Speaker 15 (19:44):
Get them.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
We can get.

Speaker 19 (19:44):
Stomps of thomps.

Speaker 21 (19:45):
Yeah, so I think we played great defense.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Yeah, you must have.

Speaker 19 (19:49):
You got them, You got them a lot of people.
I was stunned at that score, not that you won,
but right with the score, because yeah, I was. They
put up thirty against Central.

Speaker 22 (19:57):
Yeah, we played. We played really good defensively in the
first half. You know, we we jumped on him pretty fast.
You know, I think it was thirty one seven, thirty
one seven at half time, and then you know, come
out with her to come out with it, and then
we drove right down the second half scored to make
it thirty thirty eight seven and then kicked the field
goal late. We missed a field goal too, Yeah, I

(20:19):
missed one inside the twenty, you know, so, but we
we hit hit one, and uh, you know, I thought
we played great that That quarterback is electric back guy. Oh,
the best one I've seen. I mean, he just is
a problem. Can run it, can throw it up. I
mean he chunked one by yeah, I mean just on

(20:39):
the run, just flicks it.

Speaker 19 (20:41):
And it's just they got a pretty good receiver too,
don't they.

Speaker 21 (20:44):
They got a couple.

Speaker 22 (20:45):
They got a couple, so you know, they're just really athletic.
We found some things in the secondary and you know,
was able to was able to get some get some
big plays.

Speaker 21 (20:56):
And you know, I think, uh, I.

Speaker 22 (20:58):
Think that that they got behind.

Speaker 21 (21:00):
I already got them, coach. They got behind, and uh,
you know, try to play catch up.

Speaker 19 (21:06):
And we did a good job of.

Speaker 22 (21:08):
Making some plays we had to pick and you know, so, uh,
super proud of our guys.

Speaker 19 (21:12):
They played great, sealed up second spot, gonna the game
in the playoffs.

Speaker 21 (21:16):
It's awesome.

Speaker 19 (21:16):
Got all that done that, I thought, jobs coach.

Speaker 21 (21:20):
Yeah, yeah, I think that we're a team.

Speaker 22 (21:22):
Yeah, we had a young team We got a young
team this year, and they've come along really good from
the start of the season to now. And you know,
I really think we're we are jelling at the right time,
and you know, our kids are playing together as a unit.
And uh, I mean, Coach Gorman tell you, you know,
we we talked about it at the first of the year.

(21:42):
This is not gonna be a team that goes out
there at the first of the year. It just kills it.
You know, it's gonna take some growing pains, and we
had some growing pains early.

Speaker 21 (21:51):
And you know, our kids have responded.

Speaker 22 (21:54):
So you know, you got sophomore starting up front on offense,
you got a lot of young guys playing on defense.
Just super excited about this team and us us jelling
at the right time.

Speaker 21 (22:05):
This is the time we need to be playing.

Speaker 19 (22:06):
Yeah, it is end.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Of the year, is right. Yeah, it's different.

Speaker 19 (22:12):
I mean, you don't know what expect that.

Speaker 21 (22:18):
Look, he Jed is a different bird.

Speaker 19 (22:21):
He really is.

Speaker 21 (22:22):
Look, I love.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Him to death.

Speaker 22 (22:23):
He is you know, me and him are really good friends.
I talked to him on a regular basis.

Speaker 21 (22:28):
Uh.

Speaker 22 (22:28):
Jed is a hoot uh and a heck of a
football coach. He is a really good football coach. He
knows this stuff, that that single wing they run is
nice and that you know they're running back aj he
he is one of the best in the state. You know,
he's in that Missie Bill by my All Star game.
He's already got I think fifteen hundred or something like
that yards this year in eight games. You know, so

(22:52):
he is, he is really good. And they got some
other backs who are really good too. You know, you
got to stop the run. But if you get guys
in the wrong place, you're gonna be chasing ghosts.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
You know.

Speaker 21 (23:02):
You got to make sure that you read.

Speaker 22 (23:04):
Your keys, and even if they take you away from
the wall, you know, you gotta get off blocks, you
know when because because you're gonna they're gonna do some
false reads, they're gonna take you everywhere and you're not.

Speaker 21 (23:15):
You can't key guards, you can't keep up back.

Speaker 22 (23:17):
You know, because different different plays, they got them going
different ways. So you know, you got to make sure
that we lock up and tackle, you know, and we've
done a good job of that all year, so you know,
hopefully we can continue to do that.

Speaker 19 (23:27):
Yeah, last regular season game got an open week. Yeah,
and then the playoffs. What do you feel like when
you don't have you just playing regular.

Speaker 22 (23:35):
Look, I love the fact that have an open the
week right before the playoffs because you get you get
a chance to heal up a little bit. We need
that right now. We you know, we're still banged up
a little bit. You know, Greg played the other night.
Greg Williams played the other night, played lights out, you know,
played phenomenal, but he stills not one hundred percent. And

(23:56):
I think that you know, with that open week, he'll
be able to get back to one hundred percent. Couple
other guys we'll probably get a couple other guys back,
you know, so that'd be great.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
You go scout who the team you think you'll play?
You get, well, have you got a pretty good idea.

Speaker 22 (24:11):
We won't know until we will not know until Friday,
Friday after the game, and it's it looks like he's
gonna be Hoover or Vestavia. You know, could be tips
and if Pratt will was to pull that off, but
you know it, you never know, you know, which the
way things are going up there in that region. You know,
we got yeah, we got we got some logjam in

(24:32):
our three and four spot. But right now you know
up there it's this one one through one through four,
you know, one through six really, so it's kind of crazy.

Speaker 19 (24:42):
Got a game lead though, right right now?

Speaker 22 (24:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Thompson would have to lose. Yeah,
and you know you don't see Martin and losing too many.

Speaker 19 (24:54):
In the state. All right, coach, before we go anything
tomorrow on the trip, I mean Friday, Friday, Friday.

Speaker 22 (24:58):
No, you know, we just got to go down and
play play fundamental football, you know, block, tackle, you know,
do the little things.

Speaker 21 (25:05):
No pre snat penalties.

Speaker 22 (25:07):
You know, we've done a really good job of cutting
down on our penalties lately and and causing some turnovers
and not turning the ball over. You know, we talked
about that all these games that we're we're scoring point
a big amount of points in we are not turning
the ball over and that's big for us, you know,
especially with the offensively. You know, we've been thrown around

(25:27):
a little bit and you know, and that's that's key.
Keep your offense on the field, keep trying to do
everything you can, keep the defense off the field, you know,
and and.

Speaker 21 (25:38):
Protect the football.

Speaker 19 (25:40):
You're on the roll.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Good job, appreciate it.

Speaker 19 (25:43):
Friday night, at Dothan. The Tigers headed to take on
the Dothan Tigers.

Speaker 21 (25:55):
Thank God, guys, God bless.

Speaker 19 (25:57):
Tigers will take a rate come back the Moles. But
you so continues in a moment.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Hey, welcome back to the high school coach shows Jeff Satha, Dean,
Martin Mitchell, Jason Lee. We're coming to your life.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
From Moves Original Barbecue.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Of course, it's brought to you by the Ords Pede Clinic,
Frederick Dean Funeral Home in Crematorium, and Gory's Furniture Express.
And next up Springwood wild Cats coach Joey Birch in
his fourth season. Hey, coach, how are you this afternoon?

Speaker 18 (26:22):
Oh we're doing well.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
How about y'all? I'm doing pretty good myself.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Coach.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Let's see last week Southern Prep. You want to talk
about that game briefly?

Speaker 18 (26:33):
Oh, yeah, we'll talk about it.

Speaker 23 (26:34):
I mean, we've had a good rivalry Southern Prep over
the years. It's the first time they beat us since
I've been the coach there. You know, game was one
that could have went either way. It was back and
forth all night long. We actually did a good job
a quarterback. He had about one hundred and fifteen yards

(26:54):
rushing about a eighty right at ninety ninety eight yards passing,
So I think overall we outgained them and things like that,
but we had four turnovers, so we had three interceptions
and a fumble that they scooped and scored on, and
you just we got beat by ten points.

Speaker 18 (27:10):
So you can't win games when you do things like that.

Speaker 23 (27:13):
But we had several players that played well and we
felt like we were improving, and just this has been
one of those type years that everything that can go
wrong does go wrong.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
Well, I mean, yeah, I think every ting you's probably
had them at some point and sometime or another coach
all right, hey, this week you got Snool Christians, first time.

Speaker 19 (27:29):
I ever played.

Speaker 23 (27:30):
Yes, it's it's it's gonna be a long haul down
there to Foley, Alabama.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Is this there? Is this?

Speaker 18 (27:37):
This is their first year playing eight man.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Okay, I've seen snook, but I didn't know if they
were playing eight or eleven. Yeah, all right, you want
to talk about tam.

Speaker 23 (27:46):
Coach, Well, they're a very beautible team for us as well.
They don't have that many players. You know, they're not
coming in with twenty thirty players like some of the
schools we've had to compete.

Speaker 18 (27:56):
With, and they're young. They do have a couple of
very good athletes.

Speaker 23 (28:01):
They got a very good quarterback, he's a little tenth grader,
and they've got a guy that they like to get
the ball to.

Speaker 18 (28:06):
He's also a tenth grader. He's kind of a speedy
type kid.

Speaker 23 (28:09):
So, uh, and like everybody we play this year, they've
got a pretty big offensive line. I mean, everybody we've
played is bigger than us. But uh, you know, we
do some things to try to counter act that. So
it should be a good ball game if we can
handle the travel and and all the stuff that goes
into it.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
Yeah, how's your team coach for Physically fiscally?

Speaker 23 (28:28):
We got Tucker Sides back last week. You know, he'd
broke his thumb and missed a game and he had surgery.
Those orthopedic folks fixed him up, put a screw in it,
and he was able to play last week. But you know,
he's got one hand with a big old club on
it and it was his dominant hand.

Speaker 18 (28:44):
So I mean, he's nowhere near one hundred percent.

Speaker 23 (28:47):
But other than that, we're trying to get back healthy,
so maybe we can finish up straw.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
All right, tell me playoffs in eight man, the top
eight you go, it's a top eight that go, all right,
you're sitting right here at number eight right now or
tight or locked in at eight with a Southern Prep.
Is that right?

Speaker 8 (29:03):
Well?

Speaker 18 (29:04):
Southern Prep forfeited the game.

Speaker 23 (29:05):
So you know, our ball laws say if you four
for the game, you don't make the playoffs. So right
now we'd be at seven, and if we can win that,
hopefully we'll bump up and get somebody we can compete
a bit a little bit more against and.

Speaker 18 (29:16):
Not travel as far. Okay, I definitely just don't want
to go to UH.

Speaker 23 (29:20):
After we travel all the way to Mobile this week,
turn around in a couple of weeks and go back
to UH.

Speaker 18 (29:26):
Scambia that's a hall too.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Yeah, Scambia. Have y'all played them this year?

Speaker 24 (29:30):
We did.

Speaker 18 (29:31):
We played them early in the year. That's when we
got a lot of a lot of our kids injured.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Okay, yeah, yep. That's the team that had about fifty
on them.

Speaker 23 (29:38):
Well, they had a good, good number of kids, and
they have some good athletes as well.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
They had enough Kate could have played eleven man.

Speaker 25 (29:45):
I don't know about that.

Speaker 18 (29:46):
I'll let them make that decision.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Okay, I just wondering.

Speaker 23 (29:49):
But really, you know, I think most of us coaches
would rather coach eleven man because it's a simpler game,
you know, because you're dealing with space and that odd
number helps you do some things when you're trying to strategize,
especially on defense. Yeah, and you did eleven man for
twenty five years, but then that's what you know. So

(30:10):
you see something, say that's what I want to do,
and then you try to figure out how you can
make it work.

Speaker 18 (30:14):
And sometimes you can. Sometimes you can't.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Have you seen anybody that's more innovative the than other
when you have teams you face we.

Speaker 18 (30:22):
Think we are.

Speaker 23 (30:23):
We all had to be, you know, So we've done
some things in the past. Of course, we were very
successful every year except this year, and and it's a
copycat league, so a lot of things that we've done
other teams are doing now. And didn't think you could
do a lot of trapping and pulling of your linemen
since you have so few, and we do a lot
of that as well.

Speaker 18 (30:42):
So it's starting to catch on.

Speaker 23 (30:44):
And we got into a single wing kind of look
my first year, and we were the first ones doing that.
Now everybody in short yardage does kind of a heavy
type wildcat package. That's and we copy from other people too.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
What do you do? What do you do defensively when
they get in the heavy set, Coach.

Speaker 23 (30:59):
You're trying to bring everybody you can up. Hope they
don't throw it. Okay, but once again, you're gonna have
an even number of guys on one side or the other,
and it kind of puts you at disadvantage if you
can check and call where the other guy's not at.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Yeah, okay, all right, Well this week you gotta go
to Foley to play snook. Good luck, Thank you, Shoey
Burchus Springwood School. Hey, we'll be back right after this
to listen to the High School Coaching Show. And welcome
back to the High School Coaching Show. We'll come to
you live from Mole's Original Barbecue. Next up is Buster

(31:35):
Daniel from the Least Shout Academy. Coach Daniel, how are
you this afternoon.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
I'm doing great, Jeff, howing the word of you.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
I am doing so good. I am doing so good.
All right, last week, Coach, you had Glenn Wood that
was pretty much playing for the freging championships. That game
there you did clinch you too, so so you are
hosting the first round. Uh but uh, sadly you lost
the game. Coach, I think what tied up at halftime.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Was zero zero happens.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Let's talk about my well, talk about the second half.

Speaker 26 (32:01):
It was well, I like first half better. All right, Well,
we know we it was a good ball game. It
was you know, tight game first half.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
A lot of defense, a lot of defensive game. I
thought we both defensive played well. Both offensive make mistakes.
You know, it's just just a kind.

Speaker 26 (32:17):
Of game that you you expect in a robbery game.
I mean, it's a playing for one and two in
the region.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Super crowd, super crowd, and it was packed.

Speaker 26 (32:26):
Man, it had you know, a good great night. Uh,
we just didn't play well in the second half. They
came out, had a couple of big plays on us.
You know, Uh, well, number fourteen running back is our
standing player. He broke it down the right sideline on
their sideline, scored, and then we had a busted play.
They run a jet suitep and we stopped it. He
reversed field and then you know, go to scores.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
We just couldn't get a whole lot going.

Speaker 26 (32:49):
Uh, you know, and we we we made a lot
of mistakes, We had some bad penalties.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
We just we just didn't play very well.

Speaker 26 (32:55):
And uh, you know, when you got a game like that,
playing your rival good football team, uh, and you don't
show up and play well, you know, usually is up
like that.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Well, I mean, you've always had to play well when
you play. I mean every game I've been to.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
They're a really good football team.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
They're always good.

Speaker 3 (33:12):
They went ten and o last year in the regular season.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
You know.

Speaker 26 (33:14):
This year they lost to to really two gretly good
teams Waldingleton Valley.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 26 (33:18):
I mean, so they're a good football team and we had
to show up, you know, and uh it just didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
We didn't play well enough to win and they did.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
All right, Well, we're gonna put that on behind us.
We're going let's see, we're at b B. Comb. We're
going to.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Silicaga, Right, that's correct, that's correct.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Play in that stadium.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
I don't I can't remember if I did.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
What they shared with the with with Silicada.

Speaker 26 (33:37):
Yeah, yeah, I think I think we may have played
looking on that Yeah, what is turf? You know, it's
a pretty feel. Yeah, we're looking forward to it. Gonna
been a good trip. It's gonna be a good, cool night.
And you know, folks follow.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Us B B coman, what do they get Coach.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Fossis still Coach Fossis is still there? Yep, Yep, he's
been there. I've been out wild that down a little bit.
I think they got a lot of injuries. His son
I don't really playing now.

Speaker 8 (33:59):
He's a quarter.

Speaker 26 (34:00):
He got to had a concussion last Friday night. Not
sure if he'll play. They got a couple of guys
you can get. You got defensive end. I think he's
got some offers. I think act Oh my goodness. Anyway,
he's got a couple offers alcorn State. I think to
one of them, you know, about six two, about two
hundred and fifteen pounds, really good athlete, can run. We got
to get our hands on him. But you know that

(34:20):
they're not having a great season. But it doesn't matter.
You can get beat on any.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
Friday night if you don't play well.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
So we got to show up and play highest practice
being this week.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Great, go with good practice. I mean we had good
practice last week.

Speaker 26 (34:31):
You know, it's just the fact you got to You
gotta show up on Friday night and perform, you know,
and we just didn't execute Friday night. We've got to
take care of the football Friday. We got to cut out.
We had some really, really silly penalties Friday night. You know,
we had thirty art penalties on one play. You play
with the wrong kind of emotion.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
Sometimes, and that's what we did.

Speaker 26 (34:49):
You know, we hit a receiver in the middle of field,
quarterbacks rolling left and he's got him be in to
play and we just drilled him. And then we hit
the quarterback out of bounds on the same play. So
they got thirty art penalties. Wow, that hurts in a
big So we got to clean that stuff up. We
gotta take gore to the football and you know, we got
tackle better.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
At times.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
You have been playing pretty clean and you think it
was just because of the moment.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
I think it was. It was a little bit of
being glen Wood.

Speaker 26 (35:12):
Yeah, that's emotion is them on both sides, you know,
But you can't let that kind of stuff take over.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
You got to play the right way, you know, you know,
play between the whistles and then do the right thing.

Speaker 26 (35:22):
And I think I had something to do with it.
You know, they don't like us a whole lot. We
don't like them a whole lot between the whistles. But
you know, you can't have that kind of penally.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
The normal guys play like Brooks and pressed and huge lead.
They played good.

Speaker 26 (35:37):
We just didn't make enough place, you know. And and
uh it was up front. It was you know reads
with the quarterback. It was you know, missing holes. There
was some coaching problem. I got confused one time on
the fourth down. Play was fourth and one, and I
ran what I call all.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
Of it is it's kind of fake punt. We throw
the ball or kick it.

Speaker 26 (35:57):
You know, I thought it was fourth and three because
that's what it saw stick to start with. So it
was some coaching things too, and I take I take
ownership of that. So but yeah, we got to clean
things up. Our season is still ahead of us. Yeah,
we got a big season still ahead of us, I hope.
And so we've got clean things up and uh, just
play well.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
We got to finish the season with two road games. Coach,
so you go to b B coming for us this week,
and uh, I.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Guess Halloween, really yeah, Halloween, that's right.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
And he had the real town be careful, good luck,
appreciate it goes well for you, coach, and you have
clinched to two spots, so you are hosting the first
run we're hosting. Versus any idea who it might be.

Speaker 26 (36:32):
Yes Hell County, hell Hell County. I talked to coach
I to look him up for I don't know. I
didn't either heat matter of fact, he called me. Dave
is Ryan Locke is his name. He played at Bendom
russ On in ninety eight ninety nine. We talked about that.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
When it's on the phone, you was coaching it over.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
That's what we talked about.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
That's SUPs Daniel from LEAs Scote Academy. We'll be right
back with a high school coaching show.

Speaker 19 (36:57):
Thak of Mose Barbecue, Bent Creek and Arburn High School
co show rolling along tonight on ninety seven point seven
KIP FM, presented to us in part by Frederick Dean,
Funerwoman Crematory, Goory's Furniture Express in the Orthopedic Clinic here
at Moves Barbecue, Bent Creek in Auburn.

Speaker 9 (37:15):
We have not talked.

Speaker 19 (37:16):
We have talked a lot about Bullet County and coach
Jeremy Vines, but we have not talked to him this
year and he is in the house. Then we did
early in the year media days, media days, but not
at the coaches show. And coach Vine is here tonight,
Coach Vines, good to see him, friend.

Speaker 5 (37:33):
Good to see you guys. Thank you for the opportunity.

Speaker 19 (37:35):
Yeah, man, glad to see you here tonight. Your football
team's playing great. You're sitting here. You reeled off well
five in a row. Before you had a bumping road
with Hanley. A lot of people have a bump in
the road with Hanley. Then you took care of Talladigga
thirty five to seven, and then last week lost a
tough game.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
To Brooker T.

Speaker 19 (37:54):
Washington twenty five eighteen. Tell us a little bit about
your team, coach.

Speaker 27 (37:57):
Right now, well, right now man, this month every year
Bullock in the high school, man, like you said, we're
sending acision too.

Speaker 5 (38:03):
Right now now.

Speaker 27 (38:04):
We started off five and all that kind of bumping
the road after the bye week. You know, when you
at a school that not used to having success, the
kids that got the big head and they lost their discling,
they lost their attention to detail and work at it.
So we had to go back and try to fit
those things, and.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
We bounce back against all the digging.

Speaker 27 (38:21):
The last week against our BCW, we let one slip away,
but we got a really good football team man officer
line doing really well. I think every game this year
we had rush for over three hundred hours almost every game.

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Wow.

Speaker 27 (38:33):
Defensively we giving them like fifteen points per game right now,
So shout out to my coaches and my playoff for
doing everything and to help the season.

Speaker 19 (38:40):
Be great, coach for uspending the big key for you
even have something.

Speaker 27 (38:43):
So much success there all girls of God man and
the coach and the kid. You know, we're big on ditional,
big on attention, we're big on respect, and we're be
gonna give your effort and and it's our core values.
And I tell the kids and this stuff every day.
If you do those four things, you'll win. And it's
an acronym for what's important.

Speaker 3 (39:01):
Now just now. I like that.

Speaker 27 (39:04):
So we try to pre to the kid from seven
to three, school is important, from three to six, footballs
is all for it. So day by day we're still
willing to get better though aspects there you go.

Speaker 19 (39:13):
All right, so tell us a little bit about let's
see this week's game, Coach, well, let me let me
back up tough. You talked about your team. You're coming
off a tough loss with Booker t Washington Claverand County
this week. Coach Claverand County is coming in. Let me
get their record coming up here, Coach all right, cleverand
County is coming in with three wins, four losses. They've
got you in a big region game. Tell me about

(39:33):
Cleaveband County Friday night.

Speaker 27 (39:34):
Coach, Cleveland Gun is a really good football team. The
record don't inn case how good of a team they are.
They give you a lot of formation. Officially, they got
a really good receiving number two. I'm eleventh geard athletic,
So they do a lot of different things officially, so
we gotta try to figure.

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Out what they're gonna do and base them up on.

Speaker 27 (39:50):
Defensially, they play a four to three four two five defense,
and you know you just gotta line up play smash
my football.

Speaker 5 (39:56):
But that really good football team.

Speaker 19 (39:58):
Now, the way I look at it, you guys have
already beaten Challsey, right, yeah, so you've got third seed
wrapped up with a victory, right, Yes, sir, that's what
I thought. I got that right. Yeah, you get the win,
you get you get the third seed. Talk about playing
that playoff game. Wouldn't that be huge?

Speaker 27 (40:14):
And yes, sir, you might say you're going to boiler counter,
so it be very huge. And right now they got
us to I think we American Christian out of touch.
Luca was a really good football team. So hey, you know,
once you getting a big day, anything happened. Everybody was zero,
so we didn't get opportunity to get in give our
best effort.

Speaker 19 (40:30):
Okay, this Friday night, tell me a little bit about
how you guys are prepared to know you coming here tonight.
I appreciate you being here. How's your guys handling everything?

Speaker 27 (40:38):
They're doing pretty good. Actually, I left the kids and
coaching back at practice. So we practice every day from
four to six. Okay, so they don and get it
in right now. Man, On Wednesday, we do no swoot Wednesday,
so we try to just make sure we're alignment the
assignment on both offense defense special teams. We got not
a lot of debt, so we go for hard money
to choose the physical wise, and the winds were kind

(40:58):
of scaled back, so the guys to hell with the
shorts right now, and just walking through formation checks and
walk through our plays and make sure I understand the
lineman assignments and that keys.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
What happens tomorrow, Coach, what's practice like tomorrow?

Speaker 5 (41:09):
I walk through again, another walk through.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (41:12):
I believe football is ninety percent mental.

Speaker 19 (41:14):
Okay, because good for you. You know, brown them up.
Go ahead, that's what you're saying. You're not beating them up.

Speaker 27 (41:19):
And we don't beat them up. One of the TUESU
you go real hallways, kind of scale back of the baits.
What's my guys? Go both ways?

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Okay, and you're there really now? You really fair?

Speaker 14 (41:28):
Right?

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Yes, sir?

Speaker 19 (41:29):
Yeah he's I thought, so, yeah, he's a little fair
ballf but no, he's a he's yeah you know, but
I mean yeah, he was all right. How many players
you got on your team right now?

Speaker 5 (41:40):
Thirty five?

Speaker 19 (41:41):
Thirty five?

Speaker 5 (41:42):
Yes, sir, I may play, uh between fifteen to seventeen.
Office of Defense. We talk with the young guys on
special team.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
Okay, okay, so young guys start. What's your youngest guy
you got starting? Coach, I got a left guard, a
freshman you're starting? Really all right? Offense for guard?

Speaker 19 (41:58):
Yes, sir, we've got to eighth graders in here that
start seventh graders.

Speaker 2 (42:03):
How we go over us if they're ready, they can play.

Speaker 27 (42:06):
It don't matter that I don't have it the seventh
eighth grader, but I do have a few ninth graders,
and so, yeah, your favorite program is I'm.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Sorry, I was just thinking, you know, you know, we
do have some set but those are like smaller, they
are they're kind of a good point. But they say
they can play, so they're good.

Speaker 19 (42:24):
They can play, sir, You can you.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
Can do that well? Put the best living on the field.

Speaker 19 (42:29):
Yeah, if you had good support from your people there. Coach, oh, yes, sir, the.

Speaker 27 (42:33):
Ad man, the community, yes, or they're all in man.
I'm very excited about them when I think the very
thing they're doing for us.

Speaker 19 (42:39):
So yes, sir, who's your quarterback? Give me some names
before we go.

Speaker 5 (42:42):
A quarterback Takii Wallace. I brought it to the meet today.

Speaker 3 (42:44):
He's a junior.

Speaker 27 (42:45):
Okay, okay, he's about five eleven six foot right now,
standing about two teen two fifteen, having a great year.
I got a senior run athlete kid and I they
running back, quarterback, receiver and also scrolling safety and looking
for us on defers. My officer line. Defense line is
really what we hang out. Hats on offensetill gonna be simple.
We'll running football and I believe playing really good defense.

(43:08):
So everything we do start with the guys on the front.
So I want to shout out old line.

Speaker 5 (43:11):
We have ROBERTA.

Speaker 27 (43:12):
Hall at center, right guard. We had a TIGHTERT Smith
as a senior right tackle. We got Deeve Roberts, he's
the senior, and my left guard and there attackers they
are freshman. The sophomore was Mike Tarbo and Jeremie Williams.
So shout out to these guys on defense side of
the ball. We have a really good sophomore in Nadoria
and Mack. I believe he'd get a little taller, he'll
be the Bison one football player. He played defensive and

(43:35):
for us we have a Buck Van Davis and nose
guard it's Skyla Simmons and then three technique.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
We played Kendrick Townshend was the senior.

Speaker 19 (43:44):
Okay, so it sounds like you got a good mixture.
They're curt thank you for coming, so look good luck
to you, sir. Great job. Barbie Vines head coach at
Bullock County in the playoffs. Just to matter where they're
at now, they're gonna line up, got a big game
Friday night they need to get against Cleveland County. That's
going to continue on here at Mose Barbecue. High school

(44:04):
coaches show rolling along. We are back at Moe's Barbecue.
Dean Martin, Mitchell, Jeff Sasher, Jason, Lee Van Riggs. We're
on the Kicker. Our show is presented to you by
Mose Barbecue, Frederick Dean Funeralman Crematory, the Roth of Beedy Clinic,

(44:25):
and Gorye's Furniture. And we appreciate all of them for
making it possible. We appreciate Modes for feeding everybody. We
appreciate our sponsors for making it happen. We would not
be here. Most important, we appreciate our coaches who show
up every week, including Southern Christian. I knew I was
waiting to see if I'm gonna say Southern Prep. Look
at that Southern Christian.

Speaker 2 (44:46):
They took him off.

Speaker 5 (44:47):
What is it?

Speaker 2 (44:48):
This is week thirty thirty nine or really week ten.

Speaker 8 (44:52):
But no year two year.

Speaker 19 (44:54):
Two week week ten? Just right, year two week ten.
Southern Christian. Good evening, gentlemen, it's hard with its southern
prep man sitting there forever and know the Suga guy
over there.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
That I know for so long.

Speaker 19 (45:06):
So how are y'all tonight?

Speaker 3 (45:07):
We're doing good?

Speaker 19 (45:08):
Good coach?

Speaker 3 (45:09):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (45:10):
I'm awesome?

Speaker 3 (45:10):
Good?

Speaker 19 (45:11):
All right, y'all had a tough lost to evangel Christian last.

Speaker 28 (45:15):
Week two weeks two weeks ago, we were off last week.

Speaker 19 (45:18):
Dang, that's my bad.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
Yeah, we just don't have the gap, but we don't
have it to get We did beat the boy. Yeah
you did?

Speaker 3 (45:24):
You did?

Speaker 2 (45:25):
Is that evangel out of Alabasta?

Speaker 5 (45:27):
Sir?

Speaker 3 (45:27):
Okay? All right?

Speaker 2 (45:28):
Did y'all go to Stuart County?

Speaker 19 (45:29):
Did y'all play Stuart Stuart County this week?

Speaker 25 (45:32):
It's not ten seventeen this Friday.

Speaker 5 (45:35):
It'll be this Friday.

Speaker 19 (45:36):
Okay, okay, okay, all right, got you? All right, go ahead, Jem.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Let's say last week evangel Christians is the team out
of Alabasta. Two weeks ago, he said, what two weeks ago?
The last game they played. Let's talk about then? You
know they they've been they've been a team that you
recognize for quite some time.

Speaker 25 (45:55):
Yeah, dynasty.

Speaker 19 (45:56):
Yeah, Well, I.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
Didn't want to say that, I mean, yeah, yeah, but
you want to go get yeah, yeah, uh well, let's
talk about him. Fifty twenty four was a was a
was a final score all day. As good as they've
always been.

Speaker 28 (46:11):
I mean, yeah, they're well coached. Coached him, he gets
this guy's ready. He purposely put a bye week in
front of it because he knew we were the team
to beat, and so he had two weeks get ready
for us. And he's a very smart individual, and uh yeah,
he knows what he's doing up there.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Yeah, and y'all had to travel to to alabast all
right of coach who uh, let's just put down my house.
We got Stuart County coming there. That's oide of Georgia.
Seen that name a lot of times too, have y'all
y'all played them pretty y'all. Have y'all played them every year?

Speaker 3 (46:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (46:43):
We played them every year.

Speaker 2 (46:45):
Years ago we were wait, the other team up the road.

Speaker 24 (46:49):
Yeah yeah, played them, beat them five years in a row.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Yeah, Yeah, Okay, I knew, I knew they were in
the schedule. I just I don't know what I was thinking.
They were playing eleven man.

Speaker 28 (46:59):
What they do well, well, they're young, very athletic, their skills,
players are very fast.

Speaker 25 (47:09):
Just gotta keep them in the box.

Speaker 19 (47:11):
And uh, don't let them get outside.

Speaker 2 (47:13):
Who's playing who? Who's playing well for you?

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Coach?

Speaker 19 (47:17):
Mmmm?

Speaker 2 (47:17):
Let me get one of Them's got two of us?
Got to be Scott.

Speaker 25 (47:20):
You take this who's playing with?

Speaker 3 (47:23):
All right?

Speaker 24 (47:24):
We have several that are playing well well? Then name
them all well, I'm I'm still trying to learn names himself.
Now hold on, all right? So, yes, there is Jedd
and Jacker Scott and those by far, those are the
two leaders of the team and great, great kids.

Speaker 9 (47:43):
And you know.

Speaker 24 (47:45):
Something biblical comes out of their mouth every day. And
I love being around Elijah quarterback and linebacker. And you
know he's he he's a quiet leader, but he leaves
by example. He does a great job. And then uh
got Gabriel Finney who's the center, and about halftime he's

(48:09):
playing defensive end. But you know, we try to rotate
him in on defense because he's got to be there
for center because snap starts everything. I'll let you name
one of those other linemen because I can't talk about
you know.

Speaker 9 (48:24):
My own.

Speaker 3 (48:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
I was just gonna say his last thing's better.

Speaker 28 (48:26):
Right, Yeah, yeah, Brandon's been a real key. He's came
in this year and he's really just helped out so much.
Able to you know, he posted in the group today.
You know, he's a great leader, getting the guys fired up.
Challenged him to work at the house, you know, more

(48:47):
than just what we're doing at practice, and then uh,
let's see a big, a big, big help this year
when Tucker went down. Was Jake Farr just a little
just a sophomore, I say a little sophomore, but uh
he's about six two two fifty not really too little,

(49:10):
and uh he is more of a defensive tackle noseguard.
But with the injury to Tucker Webb, we asked him
to step up, and he did. He's came in, he's
played pretty good, especially for you know, sophomore, just coming
off of a JV game, asking him to come out
and play. Let's see, Uh, there's a Braden's been kicking

(49:34):
the leather off the ball. Gabriel Decker, yep, and he's
he's a junior as well. It's a junior and he's
only one hundred and thirty two pounds and he tackles
like he's two fifty. He comes flying in there, on.
You know, no breaks, he just levels the pile.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
Well, you know, good thing about this game coming up?

Speaker 28 (49:58):
Coaches, he said, that's right, Senior night, Senior Night, more stadium.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
How many seniors you got?

Speaker 5 (50:04):
We have nine this year.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Nine seniors on an eight man football team. That's a heap.

Speaker 8 (50:09):
That's a lot.

Speaker 2 (50:10):
How meany? What's the roster size?

Speaker 28 (50:12):
Let's see JV and varsity thirty three? I believe we're
twenty seven with varsity only, Okay, with a bunch of us.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Okay, yeah, I started up singing, that's a big senior
class though, sir, big love ever had. You don't have
to travel this week. We're gonna take a break and
we'll be back right after this and listen to the
High School Coaches Show. All right, welcome back to the
High School Coaches Show. We'll come to you live from

(50:41):
Moe's Original Barbecue. We got Nola Sloga high school's coach
Kevin huff Up next, Uh coach, Good afternoon, How.

Speaker 11 (50:48):
Are you good afternoon?

Speaker 3 (50:49):
How you doing?

Speaker 2 (50:50):
I'm doing well. It's good to see y'all. Last week
we had Billingsley coach that was unfortunately as a loss. Yeah,
let's talk about that one. Briefly and then we're gonna
move on to tall grey category.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
Okay.

Speaker 29 (51:00):
Uh shout out to billiously for coming out and with
an assertiveness to be very, very physical. We just didn't
respond well, got a little bit complacent through in the week,
and they showed on Friday night, and so with that complacency,

(51:21):
we weren't able to counteract what they were trying to
do to us. Our eyes got in the wrong place
and we just weren't able to rebound, and a lot
of unfortunate calls went against us and just took the
air out of our team, and we just weren't able
to rebound.

Speaker 2 (51:38):
But you clinched the playoffs spot right right right right now?
Am I right saying you're a four seed? Right now? No,
you're no.

Speaker 29 (51:46):
So what happens is it's a it's up to us.
We still control our own destiny for a number two seeds.
So Otaga Otaga Academy has one loss in the region
and Billy has two losses in the region, and we
beat a Tager Academy. We have a three way tie
for you got the head to head on the Yeah,
we got to have the head on the tako.

Speaker 5 (52:07):
So if you look at everything.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
How was supposed to go on?

Speaker 3 (52:11):
What's going on?

Speaker 29 (52:14):
We've already did the calculations. Is going to go all
the way down to Q for the tie breaking and
Q is the coin flip.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
I don't like a coin flip. I know, but you're
in though. We're the worst you could be.

Speaker 21 (52:29):
The worst we can be is four the worst you
can absolutely the.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
Best home game game for a rown Okay coach this week,
Tag academy coach. They're sitting at uh. They're sitting for one. Yes,
they're they're the long team in the in the two
spot right now to UH only played them one time
and that was last year.

Speaker 29 (52:49):
You want to talk about a tag academy, UH talker academy?
Nice nice, uh physical team? Really UH haven't shown much.
They're really uh a team that's just gonna line up
and just play football. Got a pretty decent running back
over there, good linemen. Uh, pretty big, pretty big group

(53:10):
of guys. He has some good size over there. We
we are the most athletic team over there, but we
have to be the most discibe team on the football field.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
I got you, Uh, what are they? What are the
other than being physical? They got a good running back,
what about their.

Speaker 29 (53:23):
Quarterback coach quarterbacks is a is a big, big kid.
They like to throw it, throw it around a little bit.
But uh, we'll be we'll be okay, we'll be fine.
We got ball hawks just for that. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
Everybody healthy, Yes, everybody healthy. I got some got some
guys coming back and took a well. I want to
say hello to Isaiah. Hurt went down last week, had

(53:48):
to get airlifted. I was always not a not a
good thing. But you know, pay yes for the severe concussion.
They didn't want we didn't want to take any precaution
area on that since where we were down in the
country a little bit.

Speaker 8 (54:02):
So he's out alright, came back to school.

Speaker 3 (54:05):
Today with good spirits. So we'll be playing for him
this week.

Speaker 19 (54:10):
Okay, bet he's okay. Yes, yeah, everybody okay for last.

Speaker 29 (54:14):
Week, yeah, everybody okay. We responded really well to practice
this week. I must say I'm very proud of my
my group of guys retooling and refining and doing what
we need to do to be successful this week. I
had to say that score when you send it to me.
We were having a hard time finding it.

Speaker 2 (54:32):
Yeah, that was tough.

Speaker 3 (54:34):
Yeah, it was tough. It was.

Speaker 29 (54:35):
It was a tough pillow to swallow. We had to
stop the game because of that. And I'm always for
for for player safety, so nothing is more important than
in the player safety.

Speaker 5 (54:46):
And we had the ball, we're going in.

Speaker 29 (54:47):
We had the ball on the twenty y'all line when
I got the uh the call from the referee saying
that they was bringing the chopper in And what did
I would want to do immediately because I help him
off the football field and I didn't know it was
that severe.

Speaker 11 (55:00):
So I went over to the other coach and we
agreed that it was over with.

Speaker 19 (55:05):
Okay, got you Okay, that's when you stopped it.

Speaker 5 (55:08):
Yeah, that's when I stopped.

Speaker 19 (55:09):
And how much time was left in the game.

Speaker 29 (55:10):
It was by about six six and a half minutes
about that and we were driving, so we wanted down
fourteen points.

Speaker 3 (55:17):
I mean what sixteen points? So that two point.

Speaker 29 (55:20):
Conversion already had everything down of what I wanted to do.
But you know, every play, yeah, yeah, I gotta take
care of my player. There you go, all right, we'll
coach you.

Speaker 3 (55:29):
You're on the road.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
You gotta go to a tall yes, coach, where you
got anything to add it all. So he said it all.
He said it all. Well, you know I safe travels
for you, coach, Yes, okay, go get that win.

Speaker 5 (55:44):
Yeah, no proud.

Speaker 2 (55:45):
We want you all to host the first round, right,
gonna be hosted. Hey, but but you're in that's big. Yes,
I mean you're a playoff team.

Speaker 3 (55:53):
Yes, great?

Speaker 19 (55:55):
All right, that said the Blue Devils a noted sucket.
We'll take a great. Chambers Academy. Jason Allen on deck
from Mose Barbecue. Welcome back to Mose Barbecue. High school
coaches show rolling along on a beautiful evening. We start

(56:15):
when it's one hundred and now it's in the sixties.
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
We're running show.

Speaker 19 (56:19):
Jeff Jason d Mark man another Jason Jason Allen, the
head coach of the Chambers Academy, rebels good evening.

Speaker 30 (56:27):
Coach, Hey, d Mark it does feel good. Doesn't ever've
been waiting on these temperatures all year?

Speaker 19 (56:31):
I know, I know it feels good. Good to see
you coming off a forty six to six win over
Morgan Academy from Selma. Congrats on that win, coach, Thank
you you're seventh overall.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
Yep.

Speaker 30 (56:45):
Morgan is a was a very talented team and uh,
they're one of the perennial, prillentally one of the best
teams in AISA over the last fifty five years. And
so we played really well. Our guys played extremely well,
and we with the game was over halftime, we got
to play our younger guys, and uh, that's always a
good thing.

Speaker 19 (57:04):
And that was Coach Allen's one hundred and ninety seventh win,
three away two. I ain't even thought about it. I
have coached it highlighted this morning. I'm wake sure I
brought it to you and coach ether zero he's got
two and you got three. Wow, wow, two hundred.

Speaker 20 (57:21):
I'm just glad I've been able to coach as long.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
Well.

Speaker 19 (57:24):
Good, that's twenty three years.

Speaker 2 (57:26):
That's good.

Speaker 19 (57:26):
Good link. Yeah, God's really blessed me.

Speaker 20 (57:28):
Well, this is my thirtieth year, but twenty thirty years ahead.

Speaker 2 (57:31):
Coach, Okay, I can say, yeah, you you had some
you had some years in there.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 20 (57:35):
So I just met it six Yeah, and I enjoyed
being a head coach.

Speaker 19 (57:39):
Well, coach h thirteenth at Chambers.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
But go ahead, I mean, I don't you know, I
don't know, y'all blistered academy pretty good.

Speaker 20 (57:46):
Yeah, you know, our kids just came out.

Speaker 6 (57:49):
You know.

Speaker 30 (57:49):
The thing is you always worried about as a head coach,
as are your kids ready to play? And we went
out in pre game, and you know, sometimes I thought
we weren't ready to play, and we were, and vice versa.
That's really hard to get a read on. People always
ask you, y'all ready to play, But I didn't think
our kids were ready to play the other night. And uh,
I've kind of let into them right for the game,

(58:11):
and I told them, you know, you only get a
chance to do this once a week, and this is
your uh, this is how you get judged every Friday night.
And the unfortunate thing about football as compared to most sports,
we lost the Friday night before and you gotta wait
seven days to try to get that out of your system.
So I kind of let into our guys and I said, hey,

(58:32):
you know, you only got so many of these Friday
nights and they're going by fast. And uh, I think
our seniors we're senulatdas. Yeah, our seniors really took that
to heart and we came out and played really well.
Back you got five games five games left, right, if
if you if you advanced as far as you can. Yeah,

(58:52):
so it's amazing how fast it goes. And you try
to tell these guys that when they're this age.

Speaker 20 (58:57):
And they just don't understand it until it's over.

Speaker 19 (59:00):
No, you're right, you're right about that, all right, coach?

Speaker 2 (59:02):
This week you go you travel the Best Word Academy. No,
they come to me, Oh we got it wrong, Yeah
we do, all right, Well, hey they come to you
six Is that right? Sixty one all time again the
Best Ward Academy. Does that sound right?

Speaker 3 (59:12):
Coach?

Speaker 2 (59:12):
No, that's not correct. Okay, I don't think.

Speaker 20 (59:15):
I'm pretty sure it's not.

Speaker 3 (59:17):
But.

Speaker 18 (59:19):
Well it may be.

Speaker 3 (59:19):
It may be.

Speaker 2 (59:20):
I don't know that guy that had a really really
good one year and pretty good they had they were
stabbed one year.

Speaker 20 (59:26):
Yeah, they bet they beat me in twenty nineteen when
this year, Yeah that was it.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
Yeah, I'll look so you may be right.

Speaker 11 (59:35):
Yeah, I don't need.

Speaker 21 (59:36):
To doubt Jason.

Speaker 20 (59:37):
I didn't know Jason put this together.

Speaker 2 (59:39):
It's gotta be right then if Jason did.

Speaker 19 (59:41):
Right.

Speaker 30 (59:41):
But we are at home and it is our senior night.
We're going to celebrate seventeen seniors Friday.

Speaker 2 (59:46):
Night, seventeen. That's the biggest class you had.

Speaker 20 (59:49):
Though, no, it's not, but it's a big class for class. No,
he was around about eight or ten. But in the
year after it was about twenty.

Speaker 2 (59:57):
Okay, I knew they were somewhere in there that you
had about twenty. Yep, all right, well still that's a
lot though she had.

Speaker 19 (01:00:02):
Seen one all time, and it was forty five twelve.

Speaker 20 (01:00:05):
That's right, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 30 (01:00:08):
So Bestmer's down a little bit this year. They lost
nineteen seniors. You know, we played them for the state
championship last year and they had nineteen seniors.

Speaker 20 (01:00:17):
So it's been a tough year for them. But that's
a very proud program.

Speaker 19 (01:00:22):
As you know. They really in the mid.

Speaker 30 (01:00:24):
Nineties they were everybody's doormat. And then a guy in
there came in there to coach them, by the name
of Mark Freeman, that's right, and Mark Freeman put together
some unbelievable teams. And then of course after that Josh Wright,
who is now at Tuscaloosa Academy who's doing big things,

(01:00:45):
he had some really good teams there as well. So
Bessemer has a lot of a lot of pride in
the program. And just really a winning culture.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
All right, coach, who is who individually who's playing well
for you right now? Well, again, it's just I know's yeah,
you know, we're gonna we're gonna we always gonna talk
about quarterback in front of the base. Yeah, wide receivers,
we're gonna talk about dv's people making tackles making I'll
tell you what.

Speaker 30 (01:01:12):
We got a kid named Kent Nelson and he's been
in my program since pee wee and he has never
started for us on varsity till this year. And I
never once heard that kid complain his parents, never came
to me and asked why he wasn't getting to play,
and just worked his butt off, had a great attitude,
just a great kid. And he starts for us at

(01:01:34):
outside linebacker this year and it's leading our team in
tackles and it has been all the coaches just feel.

Speaker 20 (01:01:41):
The joy of knowing that a kid did it right
and we were he was.

Speaker 30 (01:01:44):
Rewarded in our system for being persistent and patient and
waiting his turn, and that's refreshing in today's since say,
and he can run and he loves to hit, and uh,
he's just a really good player for us. He's really
just taking off his senior year, and I couldn't be
prouder of a kid.

Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
You know, I think every coach has that story somewhere
in their career. Lot you know, longtime coaches. I've heard
Coach Washman talk about a kid that was real small,
almost didn't almost got cut because.

Speaker 19 (01:02:15):
He was so sick.

Speaker 20 (01:02:16):
Yeah, yeah, this kid was the same, but he stayed
in the weight room.

Speaker 30 (01:02:20):
He's gotten stronger and he's gotten faster though some kids
don't get fast until late in their high school career.
And he went down to Tallahasseee, he had thirteen tackles
for US, and then he came back last Friday and
led US with eight.

Speaker 20 (01:02:33):
So he's had twenty one tackles the last two games.

Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Has played really well for him.

Speaker 19 (01:02:37):
Yeah, it is good, no doubt. I'm glad you mentioned
kids like that. Yeah, so well, you rolled in along
coach having a good year at Besting Academy. Last region game,
you've got that wrapped up your region at home, right.

Speaker 30 (01:02:50):
Yeah, I think we're gonna I think we're gonna win
the region regardless of the outcome Friday night due to
tie breaking, but we want to win that thing all right.
Oh yeah, and if we win this one, this will
be ten consectative region championships for our program, which I
think is I'm very proud of.

Speaker 19 (01:03:04):
It is a lot to be said for that coach.
That's pretty good.

Speaker 20 (01:03:07):
The little short store backstore.

Speaker 30 (01:03:09):
On that twenty fifteen we rode to Toxi, Alabama in
the playoffs and I got bus sick on that bus
and got off and threw up and we won the game.
And I told our coaches I'm not going back on
the road in the playoffs.

Speaker 25 (01:03:22):
And we we have not been on the playoffs since.

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
No, what happened? Not just to go to Montgomery?

Speaker 25 (01:03:31):
Yeah, yeah, well we'll take that trip.

Speaker 20 (01:03:34):
That's our second home.

Speaker 19 (01:03:37):
You know what good for you?

Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
You know why we're talking and it is toy or.

Speaker 25 (01:03:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
I like like.

Speaker 30 (01:03:44):
I think Crampton is set up perfect for high schools
because they got four dressing rooms, they're close es centrally located,
it's easy to get to, and the parkings easy.

Speaker 11 (01:03:55):
I love playing at Cramp.

Speaker 30 (01:03:56):
Yeah, and it's not quite so big, so you don't
get as much as it gets a little more intimate setting.

Speaker 19 (01:04:04):
Sure, yeah, cleaning the press box, prety everything you got, ye.

Speaker 11 (01:04:08):
There yeah, but I love Troe.

Speaker 20 (01:04:09):
I don't care whether if they play more state championship.
I want to be there, don't matter.

Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
He could be at Tarborot Allen fans. That's right, that's right.

Speaker 19 (01:04:16):
Yeah, anything else, No, thank you, guys. I appreciate y'all. Yeah,
good to see you, Good job, good luck, take care
of Chambers Academy. We're at Moles High School Coach Show,
rolling along Boreguard Haunted for Russell County, the Net Southern Prep, Uh,
sant An Piuchelli and LaVette all coming your way from mos.

(01:04:38):
Back at Mose Barbecue High School Coaching Show, rolling right
along with Jeff and Jason. I'm d Mark and Van.
We're sitting outside on the veranda. What's going on over there?
Good see y'all sitting down on the rend and join
a nice evening here in Auburn. O'p like you can
be five me, But no, I don't blame you. Good
scared tomorrow, he goes, y'all or all right, sorry about that,

(01:05:02):
and it's time to talk. A little boy going to
Horning Football. We got coach Shenning Motley and the house
coach Motley.

Speaker 23 (01:05:07):
Good to see you, Yes, sir, Everything all right with
you tonight, Yes, sir, everything's fine, all right, good deal.

Speaker 19 (01:05:12):
Coming off with tough loss forty six twenty one.

Speaker 23 (01:05:15):
To Central Clay was a lot of points scored though,
well you know, I think we scored their there toward
the end of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
But we moved the ball.

Speaker 23 (01:05:25):
Okay, took us a little bit, but we finally got
got moving the ball a little bit and you know,
we we we got behind the sticks.

Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
Man.

Speaker 23 (01:05:33):
We were first and fifteen, first and twenty or something
like that all the time. Seemed like first half we
just you know, that's kind of been our our buffer
this this year. You know, we kind of started out
a lot of games like that first half. You know,
we like little bit of mistakes, get a hold and
call or jump offside or something. You know, I have

(01:05:54):
a fault start with, you know, just a little bit
mental mental things. Man, have been been huntering this uh
pretty much all year, you know, and.

Speaker 11 (01:06:05):
It's and that and that.

Speaker 23 (01:06:06):
You know, we've talked about it before. You know, it's
it's those little bit of things that you have to fix.
Those are things that will beat you, especially when.

Speaker 11 (01:06:12):
You play a team like Clay County. You know, you can't.
You can't turn the ball over. And that's that's Uh.

Speaker 23 (01:06:19):
We had several turnovers, you know, and turnovers and playing
behind the sticks. Man, against a team like that, it's
very hard to overcome.

Speaker 19 (01:06:27):
Without that, they were hard to overcome.

Speaker 6 (01:06:30):
Uh.

Speaker 19 (01:06:30):
Anybody you want to mention played well for you, you know,
tay Foreman, Man, he had a good night.

Speaker 11 (01:06:35):
You know, cam Bowden had a good night running the
ball too. They both and uh they also turned around
play defense, you know, and.

Speaker 23 (01:06:43):
They had they had a pretty good both of them
together had had a good night on both sides of
the ball. Two two good athletes, you know. And our
our offensive line came off the ball fairly well. We
were able to move the ball, but uh, you know,
and we drove down the field and scored and you
know it just uh we just we just stayed behind

(01:07:06):
the sticks that of the first half, you know, and
just couldn't couldn't really get anything just show enough going,
you know, especially the first quarter. But uh, you know,
we got better as the game went on. We just defensively, man,
we we gave up some stuff that you know, we
we we really shouldn't given up. We we we could

(01:07:27):
have stopped them a couple of times.

Speaker 11 (01:07:28):
We don't. We're not wrapping up. You know, we have
them right there at the.

Speaker 23 (01:07:32):
Line of screaming, draw behind the line of scrimming some
and then all of a sudden they end up getting
the first down.

Speaker 11 (01:07:38):
You Knowstead Stead just rapp and he guys.

Speaker 23 (01:07:42):
That's just part of the little bit of things again.
You know that you can't let it happen and against anybody,
you know.

Speaker 19 (01:07:48):
All right, this week, turn our attention to the Valley Rams.
You win, you win, Now, that's pretty sporty.

Speaker 11 (01:07:54):
That's right. We uh and I believe if hope Well
can beat Marlbury, we're in, idn't I think that's right?

Speaker 19 (01:08:05):
Okay, So if Hopeful meets Marbury, you're in.

Speaker 11 (01:08:09):
No matter what I think that's right. I might be
wrong with that one.

Speaker 19 (01:08:13):
Marbury's got one.

Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
Oh have to.

Speaker 19 (01:08:18):
Y'all beat whole that's right, Yeah, that would be.

Speaker 23 (01:08:22):
But you know we don't need to rely on that.
You know, Marlbury got Marbory got a heck of football team.
They're a lot better Marbor team than they have been.
I know, you know that the record doesn't necessarily look it,
but they've they've been in some ball games.

Speaker 11 (01:08:39):
And you know, and they're scoring some points. So you know,
we can't we can't rely on that.

Speaker 23 (01:08:44):
You got to, but we're playing We're playing Valley, and
Valley's got a good football team. Then the offensive line
is good, big, strong, they come off the ball, good quarterbacks.
He's a good runner and a good passer, you know,
and they also have some good receivers and stuff. You know,
very aggressive on defense. They're gonna be coached up good.

(01:09:06):
You know, they're gonna be that.

Speaker 11 (01:09:08):
They'll be coached up and not gonna make many mistakes,
you know, and you know that they they what Valley
they do what Valley does.

Speaker 5 (01:09:18):
You know.

Speaker 11 (01:09:18):
They they're physical football team and always competitive.

Speaker 19 (01:09:21):
Your kids know what he stayed on the coach.

Speaker 23 (01:09:24):
And it's a rivalry game, you know, to you know,
for for a Boar Garden Valley man. It's h it's
ongoing rivalry game. And uh, you know it's kind of
like brag for Bragg and rights too, and but it's
it's a region game, big reagion game for us because
like we just talked about, you know, we win no
matter what happened to win, you know, so and uh,

(01:09:47):
you know, I kind of I hope I hope our
kids a understand that, you know. And uh so we
gotta go and we gotta show up and show up
and play.

Speaker 19 (01:09:55):
Yeah, you got two games left local teams Valley and
Russell Canadema and more point you in this Valley game.
You're sitting there with four wins in the playoffs. That's huge.
Still could have some get in with some help if
you lose, but you'd rather go ahead and win and
take care of what you what you.

Speaker 11 (01:10:10):
Got to do to beat them, coach man, We're gonna
have to, uh, we're gonna have to.

Speaker 23 (01:10:15):
We're gonna have to cover these guys up from a
defensive standpoint because they, like I say, they throw the
ball well, they throw the ball deep, and they got
some good receivers.

Speaker 11 (01:10:26):
Man, they run good routes and full speed.

Speaker 5 (01:10:30):
You know.

Speaker 23 (01:10:31):
So, but offensively, we gotta we gotta come off the ball.
We can't play behind the sticks. And uh you know,
we can't get these holding calls and are the layed
game penalty or false starts.

Speaker 11 (01:10:44):
You know, we we have to we have to limit
those no turnovers.

Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
You know, and you know we do that.

Speaker 11 (01:10:51):
I think we can play with.

Speaker 19 (01:10:52):
Them being free and posting that penalties, eliminate.

Speaker 11 (01:10:54):
Times, right, A little bit, a little bit of things, man,
a little bit things.

Speaker 19 (01:10:58):
Yeah, you still got all your kids rolling everybody good.

Speaker 21 (01:11:01):
Yeah, we're good.

Speaker 15 (01:11:02):
Huh.

Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
You know.

Speaker 11 (01:11:02):
We just we try to keep keep working every day
and take it day in day out.

Speaker 19 (01:11:08):
All you can do. Stay healthy. Coach Molly, thank you
so much for good luck. Friday night again something the
Valley Rams. All right, home game for the Hornet shoa'll
need to have Senior night.

Speaker 11 (01:11:17):
Send your night.

Speaker 19 (01:11:18):
Hey you go all right? Good Sea coach and coach
Channon Modley Boreguard Hornets take on the Valley Raums Senior Night.
They win, They're in the playoffs. It's real simple. We'll
come back. Russell County the Warriors from the coaching Show.
We're at Moles Barbecue, Bent Creek and Auburn High school

(01:11:38):
coaches show rolling along here with Jeff and Jason and
I'm de Mark. Glad to be here every week. Gosh,
this is week nine, Week ten, next week. Two regular
seasons left time to talk Russell County football. Where's coach
Dillon Griggs in the house. Coach Griggs, good to see you.

Speaker 9 (01:11:55):
Good to see always good to be here on a Wednesday.

Speaker 19 (01:11:57):
Glad to have you and the missus with us tonight. Tough,
tough game. Last week Pike rode forty nine to six
coach battle for region championship. You lost it, but you
do have a clinch to see, which is good.

Speaker 16 (01:12:08):
Yes, sir, No, we got a guaranteed home game first round,
which you know, I mean this year we pay for
the mobile region and so we're looking at Saint Paul's
McGill's Spanish Ford of Golf Shores in.

Speaker 9 (01:12:18):
The first round. So you know that should be interesting
in itself.

Speaker 16 (01:12:21):
But no, I mean, you know, fortunately last week, you know,
we just didn't step up and accomplished the goal of
what we tried to accomplish. But you know, the one
thing I'll say, and you know I'll never apologize from
the day i'm you know to the day I leave, is,
you know, our kids believed that they could win, and ultimately,
the goal for a coach in this profession is to

(01:12:43):
set kids up for success and to.

Speaker 9 (01:12:44):
Allow them to believe in themselves and what they're doing.

Speaker 16 (01:12:47):
And so you know, what happened on that football field
last Friday, you know, especially in the second half, was
just you know, I don't necessarily agree with certain things.
But what I am proud of is my kids didn't
lay down and they didn't quit. But you know, I'm
never for humiliating anybody or trying to put somebody in
somebody's place or anything above.

Speaker 9 (01:13:07):
We are here for the kids.

Speaker 16 (01:13:08):
And you know, my kids are always gonna believe they're
gonna win the state championship until the end. And I
don't care if anybody's got a problem with that or
doesn't agree with that. My job will forever and always
be for them to believe in themselves and go accomplished.
And you know, just a little agitated left a really
bad taste in my mouth. I think you know that
we all can be great coaches when we have Tennessee Ole,

(01:13:31):
Miss West Virginia, and Liberty and kennessas state commits on
our football team. But it's that the testament of good
coaching is one graduation rate, how successful are they outside
of the field. But then two, it's just to affect
mass change across the board. It's the real coaching job
is when you take a bunch of kids who have
never won and you make them believe them themselves.

Speaker 9 (01:13:52):
They believe that they're winners.

Speaker 16 (01:13:54):
But when I have a Tennessee commit in a West
Virginia commit, I better go win a bunch of football games.

Speaker 9 (01:13:59):
That's not the testament of a good football coach. And
I think so sometimes in.

Speaker 16 (01:14:02):
This profession we get a little bit twisted on what
makes a good football coach and what doesn't. It's about
changing lives and that's all that matters, period, end of
the story.

Speaker 9 (01:14:12):
I wanted to win that football game.

Speaker 16 (01:14:13):
But what I'm more proud of is that we had
the opportunity to win that football We're in our second
winning season in.

Speaker 9 (01:14:18):
Twenty eight years.

Speaker 21 (01:14:19):
Yeah, that's good twenty eight years.

Speaker 16 (01:14:21):
And so you know, you know, they came in and
whatever goal they had accomplished, I guess they accomplished it.
I'm glad that my kids weren't barking on the field
or doing a whole bunch of crazy stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:14:30):
And you know, and I told them at hatime.

Speaker 9 (01:14:32):
What is your character and what are you gonna do?

Speaker 16 (01:14:34):
You know, I don't believe in kicking on side kicks
up forty two to six or forty nine to six.

Speaker 9 (01:14:38):
I just I don't believe in certain things. And you know,
it is what it is.

Speaker 16 (01:14:41):
They are the better football team, and they won the
football game. But equally, I promise you we will continue
to believe that we're gonna win every game. Ain't nobody
putting us in our place, Ain't nobody doing nothing, because
we're gonna believe that we're gonna whip anybody any day
of the week, regardless of who's stepping up.

Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
With this week on the road.

Speaker 19 (01:15:01):
Yeah, a little bit about Rohe with Regin game. Toby
does a great job over there.

Speaker 9 (01:15:06):
You know, I think he's a legendary coach.

Speaker 16 (01:15:08):
You know, just a bunch of a bunch of you know,
country fed boys who worked their butts off and give
it all they can for quarters. You know, I think
they're a little bit on the younger side right now,
and so they're just kind of taking their lumps, but
they play hard and they do believe in what coach
is doing. And you know, that's a tough place to
go and play, you know. I mean it's like going
to Seal, Alabama. You were out in the middle of
nowhere and you know, there ain't nothing but a football

(01:15:30):
field in the school right there.

Speaker 9 (01:15:31):
And you know, I'm excited.

Speaker 16 (01:15:33):
You know, I grew up thirty minutes down the road
from there, so I get to go see all my
family on Friday, and I get see my granny and
all of them, and you know, hopefully we're going to
go in and we're going to show up and show
out and get this taste out of our mouths and
you know, continue to take the next step.

Speaker 9 (01:15:46):
But you know, excited about the opportunity.

Speaker 19 (01:15:49):
Everybody helped you out of that last week.

Speaker 9 (01:15:51):
Oh yeah, now listen, I'll tell you know.

Speaker 16 (01:15:52):
They lined up in that Notre Dame box and they
put that old miss and that Tennessee in West Virginia commit.
They went thirty one personnel on it. Quarterback did not
come in the game until the fourth quarter.

Speaker 19 (01:16:01):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (01:16:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 16 (01:16:02):
Literally fourth quarter? Really yeah, they literally ran the ball.
I mean it was a great game plan. Like there's
no doubt if I had guys like that, Yeah, that's
a great idea. Yeah sure, you know, like, hey, come
tackle my Tennessee commit all day.

Speaker 9 (01:16:12):
That's that's what you know. They put them in a
great position to win.

Speaker 16 (01:16:15):
And you know, I mean ultimately, you know, thankfully we're
not going to see that anytime soon.

Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:16:20):
So, but you know, I we definitely they helped prepare
us for the Rehublic game.

Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
A little bit.

Speaker 5 (01:16:25):
I'll tell you that.

Speaker 19 (01:16:26):
There you go, there you go. Who played well for you?

Speaker 15 (01:16:28):
Coak?

Speaker 19 (01:16:29):
Uh you know really.

Speaker 16 (01:16:32):
You know, Chris Lucas played really well at running at
running back. You know, he had some good yards. Uh,
you know, I thought Isaiah Thomas, you know, played really hard.
But you know, ultimately that was a team loss.

Speaker 9 (01:16:42):
Ain't a whole lot.

Speaker 16 (01:16:43):
Really anybody played really that well. We all took that
on the chin and you know, but that's part of it.
You know, we lose together. We went together.

Speaker 19 (01:16:51):
Good crowd, had a good crowd.

Speaker 9 (01:16:53):
Oh yeah, no, it was a good crowd.

Speaker 16 (01:16:54):
The gate didn't reflect the crowd I was, you know,
but I mean there was probably more people.

Speaker 9 (01:16:58):
I mean it was almost full.

Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
Yeah, it was great.

Speaker 2 (01:17:01):
Well, you know what, they traveled pretty good, the group. Yeah,
they traveled well though they had a good crow.

Speaker 16 (01:17:09):
Well what surprised me is kind of like you know,
they jumped up on up like a fourteen to nothing.
And one of those was when they finally put five
in the backfield and they lined up like in that
heavy set and you said, come get it and then.

Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
They got out of it.

Speaker 9 (01:17:19):
Well versus us, they just stayed in it.

Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:17:21):
Yeah, when you said that, I didn't know they did that.

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:17:24):
So yeah, all right, well anything else you want to
talk about a kid saying talk about healthy.

Speaker 18 (01:17:29):
Everybody made it.

Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
So that's good.

Speaker 9 (01:17:30):
Yeah, No, I mean everything's good.

Speaker 15 (01:17:32):
You know.

Speaker 16 (01:17:32):
I mean, I felt like we came back really you
know good this week and responded really well, you know.
I mean, just my big thing is and I just
I want everybody to know, like, you come over here
and you can beat a sixty three to seven, You're
never gonna put us in a reality that we didn't
have the chance to win, and you're not gonna you know,
we're never gonna think that you're better than us.

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
So go Warriors for being here.

Speaker 19 (01:17:50):
Coach, good to see both of you. Good luck at
ROBA and next week home game before guard last rigorous
season home game until the playoffs the following week. We're
most Barbeque will continue learn that Panthers when we come back.

Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
Hey, welcome back to the High School Coach Show. Jeff's
aside off Mitchell, Jason Earl Lee and we're coming to
you line from Moe's original Barbecue, And of course our
sponsors are the Pet Clinic, Frederick Dean funeral Home and
Crematorium and Golory's furniships plus. The next up is Michael
Forrson from Beulah High School.

Speaker 8 (01:18:23):
Good afternoon, coach, good afternoon.

Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
I'm good.

Speaker 8 (01:18:25):
How about you.

Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
You got some young man with you.

Speaker 31 (01:18:28):
I got Stone again, Stone and Pedro becoming fixtures here.
It's their third week.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
In a row.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
And you got somebody behind.

Speaker 31 (01:18:34):
And then I got us Mike Linebacker.

Speaker 8 (01:18:36):
I talk a lot about Branden Tapley. He's behind us.

Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
All right, good deal.

Speaker 8 (01:18:40):
I'm gonna get him on.

Speaker 31 (01:18:41):
I'm gonna I'm gonna give him my headset in a
minute and let him talk much. Talk about last week, coach, Well,
we had them buy That's what I'm saying. Talk about
Randolph County.

Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
Yeah, let's talk about Randolph County. Randolph County sitting in
the third hole right now in the region. They're a
sixty two overall, three and two U in the region.
I've played them fifteen times. Gosh, yeah, we play them
all the time.

Speaker 31 (01:19:05):
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 31 (01:19:06):
Today in the team room, we're talking about being physical, physicality,
and I said, how many people played Randolph County. Well,
everybody that's played on our varsity team ever has played
Randolph County and I mean they're gonna be physical football team.
That's what Pressures does. He's a good coach. They still
got mo he can still run it. So you know,

(01:19:27):
that's what we've done for two weeks now is you
know what kind of looks are they gonna give us?

Speaker 8 (01:19:32):
And how we stop at running back?

Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 25 (01:19:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Uh Mark Mark seen them play this year. I have
not seen Randolph County Gay Uh he saw him play.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:19:42):
Yeah, they got they got some players now.

Speaker 8 (01:19:46):
They players.

Speaker 31 (01:19:47):
They're big, physical number seventy five sticks out on film.
He's a he's a physical guy. I got a motor
on him. And when he wants to go, I mean
he's pretty much unblockable. But no, they got to I mean,
I mean they if they want to spread it out,
they can, but I don't you know, Pressures wants to
run football.

Speaker 8 (01:20:05):
They line up in that wishbone and come down, he'll
at you.

Speaker 31 (01:20:09):
I think with two in the backfield, they want to
get outside a lot and use his speed. I mean,
when he gets out there and gets an open field,
that's tough.

Speaker 5 (01:20:19):
You know.

Speaker 8 (01:20:19):
So we worked on you know, containing him. You know,
we're contained defense. Anyway.

Speaker 31 (01:20:24):
We want to force everything back to the middle where
our help is. So we certainly don't want to spill anything.
We don't want to get him out there, but you
know we've worked on that. You know, we've got to
make sure we've got the right angles to get after him.
And so, you know, it's been good to have the
bye week last week and let some of these guys
heal up and then you know, slowly installed last week

(01:20:48):
and then this week's been a lot of group and
team stuff, just you know, the different looks that they
can give you with two tight end sets and on
unbalanced sets. So you know, it's that's been a it's
been a blessing to be able to get uh healed
up and to be able to get those looks and
you know, our defense being able to align to those

(01:21:08):
when we see them.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Right, Coach, you got some things you gotta happen. Of course,
you gotta win. Yes, that's the thing that you control.
We got to win, and we need some help, need
some help. That's something you can't control. But you got
to control the controllable for us, which will be you beaten.
Rightdal County, does your team understand what?

Speaker 31 (01:21:24):
Yeah, I mean, the guys that these guys right here.
They know that they know these you know they are
they know exactly what's going on. So and I mean, look,
we got the Childrenberg and that's some big old boys.
So I don't want to say that it's just a
wash for David and Childreburg. Now Dave Daviell has the Davils,
like Davil last year, they just get stronger as the

(01:21:47):
year goes on. You know, the shut out Comber last
week was pretty impressive because I think Comber, you know,
they well coached. FOSSi is a great coach, so to
shut them out, Uh, their defense played really well. So
but yeah, we know what's in front of us, and
we know we got to take care of business and
then hopefully, hey hopefully we get something.

Speaker 8 (01:22:06):
Goes our way, you know, I hope.

Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
So you want to introduce these guys.

Speaker 31 (01:22:11):
Yeah, it's his Stone. He plays office line. Defensive line
is Pedro. He plays offensive line. They both played guard.
He plays a little center and then he plays outside linebacker.
Force And I'm gonna slide out of here and let Tapley.
I'm I'm just gonna get then I'm gonna get that
Mike linebacker in here and let him he plays a
little offense line too.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
All right, fellas, who who's covering you guys up for
Randolph County? What do they look like the guys that
are covering, did you guys out of block? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
Well they were.

Speaker 11 (01:22:38):
They were on a four four three look and just
even front.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
And he's got seventy You gotta.

Speaker 30 (01:22:46):
Stay low this week and just you know, just focus
on him and hop up my center when I can.

Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
Yeah, all right, I just you're just glad you ain't
got seventy five. I'm taking Okay, I just pulled most time.

Speaker 8 (01:22:59):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 2 (01:23:00):
Goodness and Stone you're the mic linebacker, sir. They got
a pretty good running back, right so that I'm sorry
it's taffy. I'm sorry. They got a pretty good running back.

Speaker 19 (01:23:09):
Yes, sir, you got your own the whole roundy, sir?

Speaker 7 (01:23:12):
What what?

Speaker 15 (01:23:13):
How?

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Yeah? Are you? Are you key on him the whole
game or day? What are your keys?

Speaker 18 (01:23:18):
Just read that full back to the opposite back and followed.

Speaker 2 (01:23:23):
To yeah, hey, that was a coach Michael Horson and
his three of his team team players with Beulah. You
listened to the High School Coach Show. We'll be back
right after this.

Speaker 19 (01:23:35):
We were back at Mo's Barbecue time for the net Panthers. R. J.
McDonald is the head football coach of the Panthers in
his second season, coming off a sixty one six over
Horseshoe Ben clintch the Area championship. Congratulations coach, man.

Speaker 10 (01:23:50):
Appreciate, yeah, appreciate, Yeah, real big, you know, going into
the second season here. That's that's a that's a good goal.
That was our first goal, man, and we accomplished that.
So we just got to keep it going and uh
go carry this momentum into to the playoffs.

Speaker 19 (01:24:06):
Well, you have done a good job with this program.
Had a big win sixty one to six. Talk about
that in the last week we played well man, Uh.

Speaker 8 (01:24:14):
You know, really really good night for us.

Speaker 10 (01:24:16):
Able to like you know, like normal for the last
few weeks here, able to play a lot of guys,
and you know, just uh really really proud of the
effort that you know, the starters put in, you know,
obviously getting it up that high, tried to uh you know,
we just we kind of got a little shell shocked
at the beginning there, you know, with h with them
kind of jumping out on us a little bit six

(01:24:39):
to nothing. They hit a deep pass on us against
probably one of our best guys. He just got beat,
you know, Uh dove for the ball, made a play.
He just tipped it and then went right up in
there and the kid caught it in then zone. Man,
it had been fourth down if he just knocked it down.
So you went too sh I mean, you only you
want Yeah, you know, I'm not too mad about that,

(01:24:59):
but ye know, we just just got a I hate
to say the word, but like complacency, like you know,
sometimes you might try to creep in on you.

Speaker 8 (01:25:07):
But I thought that was a good good thing for
us this week.

Speaker 10 (01:25:09):
Is you know, our whole goal every week on defense
is to give up zero and uh, you know, I've
said it from the jump. I think we got a
really stingy defense and a championship level defense for us,
and uh, you know, the offense is starting to click,
and so that's a that's a good thing too. You know,
we scored on all three or I'm sorry, yeah, okay,
Well we didn't score on all three phases. We almost did,

(01:25:30):
but you know, we scored on uh special teams. We
scored on offense a lot, had a lot of shutouts,
had a bunch of turnovers. So just a you know,
a real good night. We had a lot of young
kids get in and play and you know, uh PJ.
Stickers got to run the ball good bit, which he's
been doing a lot lately. The eighth grader, uh you know,
he he ran for over one hundred yards and a
couple of touchdowns, caught a couple of balls for a touchdown.

(01:25:51):
And and then David Barner, ninth grader, really really speedy kid,
probably one of the fastest kids we got on the
whole team. He had a couple of touchdowns on some
jet sweeps and some swing passes, some bubbles.

Speaker 8 (01:26:03):
So just a really good night.

Speaker 10 (01:26:04):
You know, we're in the ball for almost two hundred
yards one of our lower nights, but we threw for
well over two hundred and fifty rs. So just you know,
a really good night to work on us there. And
you know, uh, I know we talked about last week,
you know, Horsehold band. But coach coach Phillip still in
a good job. He's got a young group that that
was pretty much his his young guys that he was
playing a lot of Friday night. And I'm gonna tell

(01:26:25):
you right now that's a scrappy group that in the
future is gonna be pretty good. So but just really
proud of our guys Friday night.

Speaker 19 (01:26:31):
Okay, you get that win at Ramid, get to the
region championship. Now you got rammern. Gotta realize that, hey,
we still got another game to play, even though we got.

Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
All of them.

Speaker 8 (01:26:39):
Yeah, actually not.

Speaker 19 (01:26:40):
Everything wrapped up. It's important to keep playing.

Speaker 8 (01:26:42):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 10 (01:26:43):
You know, I think it's a good thing for us,
is you know, we we've kind of adopted this mantra
of you know, one week at a time, you know,
one and oh every week.

Speaker 8 (01:26:52):
I know it's coach cliche and everybody says it, but
it's really the truth for us.

Speaker 10 (01:26:55):
And uh, you know, our kids has done a really
good job this week focusing on the opponent, not getting
too caught up looking ahead, you know, not trying to
get to the bye week, not trying to get to
the playoffs. It's just kind of you know, okay, coach,
we got Ramber, you know, and so like, you know,
our kids really excited.

Speaker 8 (01:27:12):
They're they're always excited to play.

Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
You know.

Speaker 10 (01:27:14):
The biggest thing for us is, you know, we we've
kind of really fell in love with this idea of
the next game is always the biggest and it doesn't
matter who it is. And so just really really proud
of our kids for how they've prepared this week. Uh
they look pre rejuvenated and we have fall breaks so
some of them kind of got to get off.

Speaker 8 (01:27:31):
Their feet a little bit, sleep a little bit.

Speaker 10 (01:27:33):
So uh, just a you know, a really good week
for us, you know, and looking looking forward to getting
up to the Rambern.

Speaker 8 (01:27:38):
That's a good football team.

Speaker 19 (01:27:40):
Sounds like you've done your job playing your kids in
the right spot.

Speaker 15 (01:27:42):
Coach.

Speaker 10 (01:27:43):
Yeah, yeah, we got I think we got the puzzle
piece fit figured out a little bit, you know, always
trying to tweak it, make it better.

Speaker 8 (01:27:49):
But you know, we've got We've got a lot of
guys playing a lot.

Speaker 10 (01:27:52):
Of positions that fit them and and you know it
could easily have been you know, we're gonna play them
at their their old spot. But you know, I just
give you an example like No. Between one and Darius Morgan.
You know, a couple weeks ago playing Real Town. You know,
he won the ball game for us, you know, I
mean he was the best football player on the field,
and you know he's find a home and running back
and starting to gain a lot of notoriety there futuristically,

(01:28:14):
you know, for his career and uh with schools come
and knocking at the door. And so that's just been
really good playing them and finding the puzzle piece fit
for you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:28:22):
Good?

Speaker 2 (01:28:23):
So you got one too, you got stickers too, right, Yeah?

Speaker 10 (01:28:25):
Really he's kind of the third one, so uh yeah, yeah,
so we've got uh, we've got Does that mean his
brother's the fourth? No, well he'd probably be the fourth
and the fifth one there. Yeah, uh but you know
we got we got a pair of brothers that tore
the ball for us. And then uh Na Darius Morgan.
So Morgan is a senior out at the group, older
guy six one, about two o five to ten. You know,

(01:28:47):
I would go out on limits. He's probably the two
a version of Derrick Henry. He swoll up, jacked up.
I mean, he looks the part.

Speaker 8 (01:28:55):
And we got r. J.

Speaker 10 (01:28:55):
Tucker the speaster. He's got about seven hundred yards rushing.
Morgan's got about six. Uh you know, they got Pej
with about three three thirty three forty he's close to
close to four hundred. And then uh t J. Tucker,
he was one of our returning guys. Last year he's
only got about one hundred and twenty. So, uh but
just you know, a really good group. I mean that

(01:29:17):
group is really really talented, and uh they show it
every week every Friday night. And the good thing is
we spread it around. Yeah, you could give the ball
to one guy, one of those one of those four,
and they could probably all run for a thousand yards plus,
but you know, we try to save it for their bodies,
you know, coming into the playoffs and stuff like that.

Speaker 8 (01:29:34):
But you know, just learn that from coach Sykes back
in the day.

Speaker 10 (01:29:37):
You don't want to get nobody beat up, you know,
going into the mead or the or the the big
part of your season. So just trying to try to
really kind of spread that out and keep them locked
in and give them the love they need there.

Speaker 19 (01:29:48):
Okay, anybody, specially players of the game last week, I
don't know.

Speaker 10 (01:29:52):
Yeah, no, I mean I would just say, uh, you
know PJ Stickers, man, he was outstanding. He uh yeah,
about ten ten rushers for a hundred plus yards rushing
two touch towns. He had a couple of passes catched,
he called a couple passes for a touchdown. He had
to pick on defense. I mean, kid was outstanding me.
He's just he's just a heck of a football player.
For an eighth grader. You just look up and you
just never even think the kid is that. You know,

(01:30:13):
I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't know. I
don't know what the future holds for him or but
it's bright and uh, you know, I think he's gonna
have a heck of a lineup of schools coming through
the door for him.

Speaker 19 (01:30:24):
So like RJ. MacDonald, good to see you, buddy.

Speaker 8 (01:30:27):
Yeah, Man, appreciate y'all. I appreciate what y'all do.

Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
Man, I really do.

Speaker 8 (01:30:29):
I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Speaker 19 (01:30:31):
Reagion Champs at Brambourne last regular season game, got an
open week and then gets the host the playoff game.
We'll control it. We'll move to the Southern Prep when
we come back at Most Barbecue on the coaches.

Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Hey, welcome back to the High School Coaching Show. It's
Jeff's Aid, Dve, Mark Mitchell, Jason Earl Lee, and we're
coming to you live from Most Original Barbecue right here
at Big Creek. Next up is Southern Preps coach offense
coordinator defensive coordinator defensive coordinator coach Newman last week good
win against Springwood thirty two?

Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
Was that, sir? Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
You donna talk about that one, coach?

Speaker 11 (01:31:07):
Yeah, it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 32 (01:31:09):
We hadn't I think before that in the last three
years we were zero and five against spring Wood, so
it was great to come out of there with the winds.
Always fun to play them. It's always that's we view
them as our you know, by our main rival. It's
only about thirty minutes down the road.

Speaker 2 (01:31:22):
So right down fifty right and we'll get you get
off and go over to uh what are they on Cherry?

Speaker 19 (01:31:28):
Yeah, okay, but uh right across the country club.

Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
Yeah, yeah, that's right.

Speaker 11 (01:31:33):
It was Uh, it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 32 (01:31:35):
Defense played great, offense, did what they needed to do
to score when they needed to score.

Speaker 11 (01:31:41):
The kids just stepped up and they were had fun and.

Speaker 5 (01:31:44):
It was great.

Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
Right.

Speaker 5 (01:31:44):
Good your quarterback, how do you do? Was on? Now?

Speaker 11 (01:31:47):
Yes, sir, he's hundred percent.

Speaker 19 (01:31:48):
He Uh he did.

Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
Okay, we did a lot of.

Speaker 32 (01:31:52):
He had to hit a rushing touchdown and then other
than that, he just did well controlling the ball, controlling
the game, but coming through him, not trying to press
things not getting needed, a moment too big for him
because his girlfriend goes to Fringwood. So he was fired
up all week trying to uh trying to not not
freak out too much.

Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
Okay, I understand, I understand.

Speaker 2 (01:32:12):
All right, this week, coach, you go, you host Ezekiel. Ezekiel?
Was that out of Montgomery?

Speaker 3 (01:32:17):
Yes, sir?

Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
Okay, all right, Ezekiel. Let's see where are they standing
in this Uh that is a that's that's a non region.

Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
Yeah, the non regions.

Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
Okay, all right, you want to talk about them, coach.

Speaker 32 (01:32:28):
Yeah, they're uh, there're three and six. There's uh, it's
a down year for them as well. They're play caller.
He went to Southern Prep to two years ago. I think,
so he's he's looking forward to coming back. We've been
talking a lot this week and leading up to this week.
He says he's got a good game plan for us,
but I think we'll be ready for him.

Speaker 2 (01:32:49):
They're three and six, and is this is this a game?
I mean, this is this game you can win?

Speaker 7 (01:32:53):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 32 (01:32:54):
Okay, they he said, they've they've been hearing basketball's bounce
over there for the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 8 (01:32:58):
This is their last game of the year.

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Okay, so they already started. They pulled out the round.
Yeah they So he thinks he got a chance.

Speaker 32 (01:33:05):
I'm like, well, we're doing basketball too, a little bit
of for us, but uh, we'll see, it'll be fun.

Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
Who played? Who played?

Speaker 32 (01:33:12):
Whale coach l linebacker Jackson Weston. He had three interceptions
and he also dropped three more. But uh, he played
really well for us.

Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
He and when you say dropped, like hit him into
a bad spot, right in the hands or one he
got his hands hands on two and one of them
hit him in the back.

Speaker 32 (01:33:31):
Okay, okay, And he was recovering from the guy ran
right by him, He recovered, got down and hit him
in the back. Okay, all right, yeah he uh, he
made a couple of great plays. We got another linebacker.
He forced a fumble and picked out a scooping score
for a touchdown. So what about the interceptions and he
don't pick six?

Speaker 5 (01:33:49):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
All right, So you had a scoop and score and
your linebacker had three interceptions, had the opportunity to make
three more.

Speaker 5 (01:33:56):
Yeah, yes, sir, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
Well see what do they do?

Speaker 3 (01:33:59):
What they do?

Speaker 32 (01:34:00):
Well, they run the ball, They are quarterback power quarterback
like speed option, read option.

Speaker 2 (01:34:05):
And then I'll throw it deep. That's about it. Okay,
all right, Well you're hosting them. That's a good thing,
sir at Senior Night for so senior Night. How many seniors?

Speaker 5 (01:34:13):
Four?

Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
Four out of ten, four out of fourteen?

Speaker 3 (01:34:16):
Fourteen?

Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Yeah, okay, you took you took ten of the North River. Yeah, yes, okay, yeah,
So we got some back or got somebot someone.

Speaker 32 (01:34:23):
That you know, to show up when they feel like it. Okay,
they got They're doing other clubs and whatever, and it's
just I'm lucky I'm not the head coach.

Speaker 5 (01:34:34):
Okay, I got you.

Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
Hey, well coach good luck this week. Yes, sir, you'll
be hosting this equals Senior Night at Southern Prep. This
coach Newman. Hey, we're gonna take a break. We'll be
back with the High School Coaching Show right after this. Hey,
welcome back to the High School Coaches Show. It is
Jeff Said, Mart Mitchell, Jason Lee, and we're coming to

(01:34:56):
you live from Mole's Original Barbecue. And we're here every
Wednesday from six to eight and up next to uh
sint Am Chilli's coach Smitty Ryer, Good afternoon, coach. How
are you evening? How do you like this weather? Oh?

Speaker 25 (01:35:09):
Man, this week has been awesome, beautiful, is it?

Speaker 3 (01:35:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
High sixties next?

Speaker 25 (01:35:16):
Oh that's a little chili chilli. I like low seventies.

Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Well, I mean you can have sixty eight. Good they
say sixty eight.

Speaker 25 (01:35:23):
It's gonna be in the low forties in the morning
when you get up like me, I don't like that. Yeah,
you know, I don't want to have to run my
heat in the morning.

Speaker 2 (01:35:31):
I understand that. Last week you played Turner County.

Speaker 25 (01:35:35):
That's correct.

Speaker 2 (01:35:36):
One to six, coach, Yep, good win.

Speaker 8 (01:35:39):
It was win.

Speaker 25 (01:35:40):
It was they They've got a very athletic team. Uh,
they have some some really fast kids, probably fastest team
we've played all year. And uh, but we played well.
Defense played great again really other than one one little drive,
played outstanding on defense. And it was one of those

(01:36:00):
crazy nights when every time the ball hit the ground
it bounced the other way, I mean, and we had
some crazy plays. I mean, we get a we had
a pass up pick it off with a d lineman
and he's running the other way with it, gets tackled
in fumbles and they get it back and you know,
stuff like that break, a long run down to the
ten and fumble, you know, just one of those deals.

(01:36:24):
But we got to win, that's right, and that was important.
We needed that to really kind of we're fighting to
set up for our home playoff game. We're at number
eight right now, you're in. It would take something crazy
for us not to be in win or lose. We'd
like to get to seven.

Speaker 10 (01:36:41):
We could host a home playoff game in the first
round if we can get to seven, and that's kind
of our what we're aiming for. I don't think we
could get any higher than that with even with a win.
So that's our goal right now. We want to get
back and play a couple of these teams that beat
us earlier in the year and see how we can
match up sec go around.

Speaker 25 (01:37:00):
So you know, this is a big one. Westfield's coming
in and there they've they've won our region and so
this is a this will be a big win for us.

Speaker 8 (01:37:09):
We could beat them.

Speaker 25 (01:37:09):
They're a good football team, but they're at our place,
and this is the best team we've gotten at home.
Most of our teams we've played that are really good
have been on the road, so it'd be it'd be
really some great momentum for us to get a win
Friday night going into the first round to playoff ABS
again Westfield, Westfield.

Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
Uh, there.

Speaker 25 (01:37:32):
We She hadn't asked me that they're about two hours away.
That's all every road games two hours away and at
least hour and forty five.

Speaker 2 (01:37:39):
I know, it seemed like every road game was as tough.

Speaker 25 (01:37:41):
You went to Atlanta, you went to Macon, making twice,
went to uh to both sides of Atlanta, and you know,
so it's a I mean, this is what it is.
But I just saw where Savannah Country Day is coming
into our league next year, and probably that means the
rest of those Savannah schools will too. That's gonna be
a haul too to have to go over there. There's

(01:38:02):
a really good teams in Savannah. Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:38:06):
You know, I've seen a few of their fields, coach,
I don't know much about them. I got a daughter
who lives there, you know, being being out and about.
I've seen the schools and.

Speaker 25 (01:38:14):
They're like colleges.

Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
Well no, not necessarily. It's like you're in the historic
district and you see something school you know, yeah, you know,
in an old building. Really they have I mean Savannah.
Savannah Christians really good.

Speaker 25 (01:38:31):
I've seen them on film this year against somebody, and
I mean they got there's some good football teams over there.

Speaker 2 (01:38:35):
And so a few years ago Alburn got one out
of one of the schools in Savanna. I can't remember
what school it was, and I can't remember the quarterback
and he never really got a chance to start, but.

Speaker 25 (01:38:46):
He was white hand.

Speaker 3 (01:38:47):
They have.

Speaker 25 (01:38:47):
I mean, it's it's real football, man. Yeah, in our
league is I'm you know, I've told you all before.
It's it's it's not what you picture private school football
league being.

Speaker 24 (01:38:57):
It is not.

Speaker 25 (01:38:59):
It's it's tough, and there's a lot of good players
and some really good coaches, and I mean, you gotta
play if you want to win in this league, you
got to you got to coach them up, you gotta play. Well,
It's it's not you.

Speaker 8 (01:39:12):
Know, I'm not.

Speaker 25 (01:39:13):
I don't want to talk about anybody else's private school league, but.

Speaker 2 (01:39:16):
This one is you know, is every team you play
a region game?

Speaker 25 (01:39:20):
No, We've we've got we're in a five team region.

Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
What's crazy?

Speaker 25 (01:39:24):
Westfield's in our region but they're three A don't ask
me how that works, But I don't know I don't know, so.

Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
You know, I was just I was just wondering, can
you cross play? Can you play anybody you want?

Speaker 25 (01:39:37):
Yeah, yeah, okay, I can't play any I ain't play public, private,
I don't play anybody. Were talking about that now we
we but we do have four region games that we
have to play. Yeah, and that's Westfield, Brookstone, Calvary, and
Strong Rock.

Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
Strong Rock was that Atlanta school?

Speaker 19 (01:39:52):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
Yeah, they were the first prayers here to day making
and the two teams out to make it.

Speaker 25 (01:39:56):
They were non region games. Good teams, yeah, really good teams.

Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
And you think you're you're thinking your region is going
to expand.

Speaker 25 (01:40:03):
Well, no, they're coming into the g i A A
right now in the g hs A. But really, what
they're doing in Georgia and in the Public School League
is forcing these schools out because they have a five
times multiplier. Oh yeah, oh so, I mean yeah, so
they're pushing them up, you know, and they're they're making

(01:40:25):
it where they're gonna have to get out. Yeah, they're
they're it's it's a kind of a I mean that's
why we got out because of all that to three
or four years four years ago. Now, I guess We
were one of the first ones to say, Okay, we'll
come to the G I A A and uh. Then

(01:40:46):
once we committed, a bunch of other schools.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Came in about that.

Speaker 25 (01:40:50):
But there's gonna be well, it'll end up, as you know,
a really big league.

Speaker 8 (01:40:55):
Before Saul said and done, there is a G I
A A.

Speaker 25 (01:40:58):
Do they have a man too, Yeah, yeah, yeah they do.

Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
Isn't that ballot played in that like a dual league?

Speaker 3 (01:41:04):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 25 (01:41:05):
They have an eight man division and we've got four
eleven man classifications and then an eight man division. What's
the highest classification in for a, oh, in Georgia in
public school, yeah, six A.

Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
So you could go from being a two A school
to a six A school really easy. You could be
playing a GRASO yeah yeah, or somebody like that, and
that would be hard.

Speaker 19 (01:41:26):
That's hard.

Speaker 25 (01:41:27):
Yeah, I mean, it doesn't make any sense just the
way they want them out basically, they're trying to get
them out to you know, and you know it's kind
of a you know, I get it. Look, I was
on the other side of this thing, and I understand.
But you know, as long as they go by the rules,
I don't I didn't care you know if they were
private schools when I was coaching in public school and

(01:41:49):
that's all that mattered to me. I feel like in
Alabama they either need to have the multiplier or the
competitive balance. They don't need to do both. That's unfair.

Speaker 19 (01:41:58):
It is unfair. Yeah, a lot. Some thing's probably gonna.

Speaker 25 (01:42:00):
Change, Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 19 (01:42:02):
I think it started last week with that meant so
if it changes, I'm afraid.

Speaker 25 (01:42:06):
And they're not necessarily good, are they?

Speaker 19 (01:42:08):
I don't think so. I think you might have to
see them split.

Speaker 25 (01:42:11):
Well, or at least play a separate state championship. Yeah, yeah,
and that that would be good for us, probably be
easier for us to schedule some of those teams, you know,
you know, like me and Buster talked about playing if
we can match up, make it work. But you know,
I'd rather come over here and play them or you know,
glen Wood or somebody like that, than having to travel

(01:42:32):
to make and all.

Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
Yeah, I mean thirty minutes, man, a thirty minute drive
versus no kidding. Yeah right, that's not bad at all.

Speaker 19 (01:42:40):
Great to see you, Good.

Speaker 8 (01:42:41):
To see y'all.

Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
Man.

Speaker 25 (01:42:42):
I really do appreciate y'all letting.

Speaker 19 (01:42:43):
Me continue to come over here and do this man
interesting to try to keep up.

Speaker 25 (01:42:49):
I try to keep up what's going on on this
side of the river too.

Speaker 19 (01:42:51):
You do, you do, And we've learned a lot with
your with your group, and we'll keep learning.

Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
I appreciate it, you know, we got Yeah, you know
why why I got to bring this up. You know,
I learned so much about Georgia since you've been over here.
But you know, I learned a lot from from coach,
from Coach Washington. You know, we got some charter member
of private schools in the AHS A hey, like mcgil
Tulan and John Carral that's right.

Speaker 25 (01:43:10):
And uh, I'm not sure, but Saint Paul's might be
a charter member too. They are, Yeah, And that's why
that's why Coach Washburn and Coach Savarice always, you know,
made that point that y'all don't you know, to the
rest of us, y'all need to understand why we do
the things we do because these people were charter members

(01:43:33):
of our association. It ain't like we can you know,
that's a whole that's a whole different animal. And you know,
I hate that the political uh climate has kind of
turned things the way it has. You know it's it's
just sad. It's sad to see what's happening with that association.
And I know I'm very close to those two gentlemen

(01:43:53):
that rent it for so long, and and.

Speaker 3 (01:43:55):
I know what.

Speaker 25 (01:43:56):
They poured their heart and soul into it, and it's
just tearing Coach Washburn to see what's.

Speaker 19 (01:44:01):
Yeah, you can tell. And he was talking to me
about it tonight.

Speaker 25 (01:44:04):
So you know, I hate that. I you know, I
poured my life into it too, even you know, I
was coaching at a school.

Speaker 19 (01:44:10):
But things change, coach, you know, and we.

Speaker 25 (01:44:12):
Set it along Coach Washburn. Then Coach Savory said it
years ago and said it often, y'all don't know how
good we have it here. Yeah, really, And I'm afraid
that the people coming on the are gonna, I'm gonna
mess it up and not realize they let it get
away from you or hate that because it.

Speaker 8 (01:44:30):
In George.

Speaker 25 (01:44:31):
I can see it being in Georgia. How much better
our association is over here, and how the rules are
and how it's run and and all that and and
and we're not that different in Georgia, but it is different.

Speaker 19 (01:44:42):
Unfortunately, go legislatures that think they know what they're doing.
Every year I go toators and they buy me nuts.

Speaker 25 (01:44:47):
Here's my question, what is it that the state does well?
I know nothing, So why do they think they.

Speaker 19 (01:44:53):
Could run the private association they getting. I don't understand.

Speaker 25 (01:44:57):
I don't understand that. I don't understand nuts and we make.

Speaker 19 (01:45:03):
If you're in the representatives at Alabama or a senator,
you are god. I mean, you know everything. It's sad
all of them, but that some of them that like
they do.

Speaker 25 (01:45:12):
You know, I think in a couple of years, we're
gonna look back and say it was a mistake everything
that's happening.

Speaker 33 (01:45:18):
Yeah, I thank you, Right, Coach, We will know who
to blame, right, we will, Anyonoey. Yeah that the people
want a good sea coach good Sea. This week coach
City Grids in Pachelli. Take a break, little fat bulldogs
and we'll wrap.

Speaker 19 (01:45:29):
It up at Moe's Barbecue. We're at Moe's Barbecue. High
School Coaches Show continues presented to you by the Orthopedy Clinic,
Frederick Dean Funeralman Crematory, and Gorye's Furniture on Highway one
sixty nine in Opah Laikah. D Mark Jeff Jason Van

Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
Get in and gentlemen, how are y'all to down? Good coach?

Speaker 19 (01:46:02):
Coach?

Speaker 3 (01:46:02):
What we have the fry ribs?

Speaker 19 (01:46:05):
Ribs?

Speaker 2 (01:46:06):
Is that your girl to every time?

Speaker 19 (01:46:08):
No, sir, just up, make so you you you.

Speaker 2 (01:46:12):
Get You've tried everything on the menu.

Speaker 20 (01:46:13):
I've tried everything grilled cheese too, not the grilled.

Speaker 2 (01:46:16):
Cheese, almost everything, not the grillchy What about the best
that's only kids menu, Coach, I get the grilled cheese, Coach,
he gets something that's the kids meaning.

Speaker 19 (01:46:25):
What about the vegetables, coach. The black eyed peas are yeah, man, yeah,
the collars.

Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
For good tonight. I usually I like the black eyed
peas too. I like the black eyed very good too.

Speaker 19 (01:46:36):
Got you hey, we got it all right, coach Williams.
Good to see tonight. Lost last week twenty three thirteen
the Central Coast. A little bit about that game played hard.
Things didn't fall our way right there in the end.
I think it was a fourteen to six game for
a while, just this didn't make plays when we had

(01:46:58):
to make plays. Kids played hard, the ball just didn't
fall our way right there at the end. H Central
Cuts got a good team this year. They made the
playoffs this year.

Speaker 34 (01:47:07):
Uh yeah, so just played hard on both sides and
just like say, uh, they played a little better than
us right there in the end at to seal the deal.

Speaker 8 (01:47:17):
And so you know, and uh proud of our kids for.

Speaker 34 (01:47:20):
Really working hard and staying to the playing and just
you know, in games like that, sometime they don't fall
you wey.

Speaker 5 (01:47:25):
You hate to see somebody lose.

Speaker 34 (01:47:26):
And it was just U Scuore really didn't even show
how close it really was on some things.

Speaker 3 (01:47:31):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:47:31):
So you know, just kudos to them, and uh, just
keep getting.

Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
Better every week.

Speaker 19 (01:47:36):
Anybody you want to mention played well.

Speaker 34 (01:47:38):
Uh I both both sides our my team played well.
Nobody just ended it well. You know Jayden's story played
well on both sides of the ball for us. We
will give him a shout out. He played well, helped
you on both sides.

Speaker 3 (01:47:48):
Of the ball.

Speaker 19 (01:47:49):
Good deal. All right, We got horse you being this
week coach on the road. Uh, and then you got
Barbara County at home. Talk about horses you being first.

Speaker 34 (01:47:57):
Strappy. I think we just talked about out that earlier.
Are gonna be big upfront. Uh, they're searching for them
and win. So uh, you know, we knock and we'll
hopefully they don't get it against us.

Speaker 5 (01:48:10):
H No, but you know, gonna be a strappy game.

Speaker 34 (01:48:16):
It's gonna be who wants to the most. It's gonna
be a really good game. They are big upfront as always,
pounding ground the game four yards in the dirt. We're
expecting that. So we gotta do what we're supposed to do.
We gotta have some gap control up front. We gotta
move the ball on offense, keep them because we don't
want them to hold the ball all the time in
three and four yards to death, quarter to quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
So we just got to do our job.

Speaker 34 (01:48:40):
You know, we gotta take states to our fundamentals, state
of what we know and what the coaches have talked
that week.

Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
Do it, do what actually what you're actually do.

Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
Do your job.

Speaker 19 (01:48:48):
That's been our biggest thing this week is to do
your job. Has it been a good week for you guys?

Speaker 2 (01:48:52):
It has, it has, But we needed to relate to
the field.

Speaker 19 (01:48:55):
You know, that's and that starts with me.

Speaker 34 (01:48:57):
So we got to we gotta relate it to the field.
When those lights come on, we got to play with
them lights.

Speaker 19 (01:49:01):
Come on, well said, that's right. Keys to the game,
got to score more another, Well.

Speaker 34 (01:49:11):
The keys to it is that we have to be
disciplined the little things. Uh, you know, we we've been
missing out on some little things that has already been taught.
So being able to retain that information and apply it
to the game. Uh, that's what we have to do.
And that's as coaches. We keep preaching that. Uh we
even went less as better this week. Let's let's see

(01:49:33):
what we do good. You know, what can we do
good so that that attention to detail must come a
pro afloat Friday night? All your kids out, yes, sir, yes, sir, Yeah, yeah,
nobody has dropped off on us. Uh, we still got
what we started with.

Speaker 19 (01:49:47):
Coach. That says a lot about your program. You're well,
it's you know, may not the one as many as
you wanted to all your kids out there.

Speaker 34 (01:49:54):
Yeah, and they get the concept of it. And it's
just you know, we have some good kids who we're young,
and we know that we knew coming in we were
