that knocked out before we continue.Shortly, we're gonna let Jason take care
of that before we get coach onJiff. But we got our our sponsor's
Orthopedi Clinic. And Mo's Barbecue.Mo's Ricky Carmack's owner. We appreciate what
Ricky and his staff do. Willisas the manager, you kind of divulged
(01:08):
the menu. I sticked with thegrilled cheese, so you can't go wrong
with the grilled cheese. Yeah.Well, I mean you like what you
like. I like it. Ilike it. It'll be a little different.
Hey, coach, I like ita little different. Hey. We
got coach rolland Bell here with SouthernPrep. Hello, how are you coach
doing great? How are you?You want to introduce you. Let's say
you got wit web web coach Webbsomething and then coach web right right,
(01:33):
a lot of webs. Yeah.Uh, last week we won at Cornerstone
right, Cornerstone, Rangeville correct rightrange one. We had to put that
in there. Range. Well, you want to talk about that. We're
briefly coaching. We'll move on.I think what Yet, we got up
there and they were playing on thesmall forty by eighty field and it was
really windy. You know, alot of the passes were kind of fluttering
(01:57):
and during warm ups and I lookedcoach knew when I said, better run
the ball tonight, and uh,it was that windy. It was that
windy. I think we didn't throwbut ten passes and uh twenty five,
yeah, twenty five, thirty yeah. Yeah. Do y'all do underneath stuff
like just a long handoff and stufflike that. Does that part of your
package also having on or is everythingdown for you? Okay? Never we
(02:21):
you know, we we do alot of it's we hit all the field,
okay, but you know in thatgame, we started off, we
were up twelve to nothing in thefirst quarter and then scored, like in
the first couple of plays of thesecond quarter, We're up eighteen to nothing,
and next thing we know, we'reonly up at halftime twenty six twenty
one. And uh, we hadsome coverage issues. You know, some
(02:45):
thought we were in man some thoughtwe were in zones. Well, now,
we worked on this all week, and you know, so we we
we went back to you know, the devotion on the you know, I
did a Bible blessing, and nextthing we know, we show them out
second half and we're we won fiftysix twenty one. Absolutely, that's right.
Jasiah Anderson running back, you know, we've been waiting on him to
(03:07):
come out of his shell, andhe had twenty three on sixteen carries or
four touchdowns. Yeah, plus hehad a receiving touchdown. Now, he
talked about the field being a short. Now, I mean, what what
is the what is your field? We play in a regular eleven man field,
(03:27):
you know the okay, one hundredand by fifty three and the third.
But we also play eleven many games, so that's why we do that.
But isn't it different? Is thatthe man dimensions different? No?
Yeah, that can be a yeah, eight man field traditionally is eighty by
four shorter, correct, Yeah,so you can't rack up as many yards.
We hate that's what about eleven yardsand that more now or something like
(03:51):
that? Thirteen and third? Okay, narrow good coins yeah, yeah,
okay, all right, well Ihey this week you got now my man
did this? We got Cornerstone Montgomerycoming up right? No, Evangel Montgomery,
I mean you're right, Evangel Montgomery. All right, And then it
says on remaining schedule, Evangel, question, is that is that Evangel out
of Alabaster? No? That remamberis that is? That's one more game?
(04:15):
One more regular season game, andit is a Reagion game. Currently.
I guess we're we're sitting in thirdplace. You win, you got
the three seed, right when whenwe lose your five seeds? Well no,
all right, So then typebreaker goesto points, because if we lose,
there'll be a three way tie andit's going to come down to point
(04:38):
differential. If we lose by tenor less, we're still the three seed.
If we lose between eleven and fifteen, we're the four seed. If
we lose by more than fifteen, then we're the the five seeds. What
do you think about their team, coach Evangelangel GM. They are extremely athletic,
(05:03):
but nowhere near is tough as theywere last year. And you know,
the teams that have beaten them inin region play this year have pretty
much just run straight at them.Really, and thank god, josiahs running
hard right now. Okay, you'reowing four all the time, I guess
some cold Well, hey, it'stime for a win. I know it
(05:25):
is, you do I know thatwe are we're doing Yeah, Well it
doesn't really matter. No, no, it doesn't, but I mean it's
on here, so I'm gonah,I get it. I mean it doesn't
it doesn't you know. I meanyou can use that as some motivating motivation
bulletimboard materially, that's right. Yeah, get it going. Well, you
know when I when I first started, we were and nine against Cornerson Columbiana.
What are you now? I thinktwo and ten? I'll go there
(05:47):
you go, So Friday night weget the win. That's that's that's what
we're shooting for it. Quarterback isstill playing well, yeah is he?
Yeah? I mean he had liketwo hundred yards Russian Friday night too.
There you go, like three touches, two touchdowns or so. Yeah,
y'all had a receiver that was injuredthe game the previous week, right,
well he was a couple of weeksago. He's I mean, yeah,
(06:08):
he's gone for the year. Okay, that's that's what that's the question I
was gonna ask you. Is hethrew for the season? He is through?
But uh, you know we're we'vebeen putting the emphasis on running the
ball anyway, so I think we'llbe just fine. That's road. You
just gotta run right out you Okay, that's coach Roll. Robo will be
(06:34):
back. Our next team is uhfally m m m m m mrs Barbecue.
(07:01):

Coach Adam Hunter is joining us.Coach. Good to see you tonight,
man, Good to see you guys. Yes, sir, congratulations again,
coach. He wrapped up home fieldadvantage by finishing number two in the region
(08:11):
last week. And you're talking aboutabout Razor thin but it don't matter if
forty one forty you get the winover Elmore County. Congrats coach, thank
you. Yeah, it was abig one for our kids. You know,
it's just a testament and how hardthey've worked, how they bought into
what we're trying to do, andour coaching staff. You know, we
had a great game plan. Youknow, we we kind of couldn't stop
them a little bit on defense, but our offense showed up and every time
(08:33):
they scored, we'd match it,and you know, it was going back
and forth, and fortunately we wasthere in the end. You know,
the kids made some big plays. We had some kids make some big plays.
You know, Brandon Thomas made thegame winning catching the end zone.
Cam had a great night. Youknow, he really played like a Division
one athlete. Ian Krim Davis hada great night a receiver catching the ball
(08:54):
and scoring a touchdown. And thenc. J. Chambley, you know,
he's been one of our guys.I said, we've we've gotten a
touchdown for most of almost every gamefrom him at at the sniffer and tight
end slide. So you know, those guys have really stepped up and uh
make some big plays for us.This year, yes, sir, Adam
Hunter with us the Rams win lastweek forty one. How they go down,
coach? How did they finish it? You know, we got the
(09:16):
ball back with about a minute left, a minute and fifteen. You know,
we're driving the ball down, gota couple penalties back to back up,
comes down to about thirty five secondsand you know, Cam rolls out
and he uh we we go inthe transformation to send them all down to
the end zone and Cam does alittle pump fake. I don't know how
he held onto the ball, buthe pumped fakes and throws you know,
(09:39):
the d ball into the end zoneand Brandon goes up and catches it over
everybody. You know it was thirdit was third down, yes, sir,
you know. And and then ourkicker, who has really stepped up
for us this year, uh kickedthe game winning extra point. So Colwell
has done a good job. Hehas. They you know, they're better.
Yes, they're really good football team. He's done a great job with
them. They're they're really good offensively, you know. They they've got some
(10:03):
athletes over there. They've got sometough guys over there. They're big up
front. You know, their theiroffensive lines would impress me the most.
They're they're real big and physical, you know. And then you got to
college prospects out there, and greatthe receiver in number seven. Both of
those guys are pretty big guys andgood guys. Yeah, man, I
got distracted there. He got distractedto coach me looking at him. Uh
(10:26):
you all right, Carol coach twelvesix, Uh you beat him last year,
you were six and two overall, four and one. That reagion the
Carrol this week, right, coachnon region game, Yes, sir,
Coach Patrick Plott and the Eagles.I know, Coach Plot, Well,
this is a trip for you.Your your region's over. You got at
Carroll home with benjam Russell, thenyou go in the playoffs. Talk about
(10:48):
these this game this week, andyou know kind of how your guys have
handled it at practice. You knoware kids, you know they're buying in.
You know, we're practicing better rightnow. They know what we've got
a we've got a tall task aheadof us defensive. We've got to stop
their uh their athletes. They gotthree athletes on on offense. It's pretty
special quarterback and uh, Coach Platt'sson is a receiver here, go back
to quarterback something. Then they're runningback. They're all pretty quick. Uh,
(11:11):
so we got to make sure wetackle those guys. Uh and we
got to work cut out of forus. But the kids, you know,
they they want to go. Theywant to get that seventh win.
It's been a while since, youknow, Valley has has won seven regular
season games. Uh, twenty elevenis the last time we went eight and
two in the regular season. Sothe kids have got an opportunity, you
know, to go maybe seven tothree, eight and two. You never
(11:33):
know, you know, it's it'sgonna be one of those those games.
We've got to really play good forfour quarters. Well, coaches out in
front of you, you certainly yougot you got to to uh to to
get ready and then to the playoffs. Do you just you approach seasons seem
like you would like a seven game, seven game playoffs. We we need
(11:54):
to approach these next two games likethey are the playoff games. You know,
we've we've got to approach those. And we're playing two really good teams,
Carol being one of them, andthen a really really good Ben Russell
teams. So you know, we'vegot to work cut out for us.
But we want to treat it likeplayoff weeks. How we prepare, how
we get ready, and try tokeep a little moment them going into the
playoffs. You can hear their games. It is, oh yeah, you
(12:16):
want to just kind of like, don't meanything about Jeff, But it's just
like playoffs in baseball and football andeverything else. Gotta get hot. That's
right, basketball, and you arehot right now. Keep it up.
We're gonna try to always go tosee you Coach Hunter their games around one
hundred point nine Double Board d Mark, Jeff and Jason continues from Moe's Barbecue.
High School Coach Show rolls along withBuster Daniel, the head coach of
(12:37):

Orthopedic Clinic. High School Coaches Showcontinues, Bridge Boy, welcome, Welcome
(13:07):

me in here, so I knowI went on. We'll come to you
live from O's Original Barbecue. It'sbrought to you about the Orthobedy Clinic and
of course Moles, Fox Sports TheGame nine, ten, thirteen, ten
and Kicker FN ninety seven point sevenLee County's Best Country. Next up is
Lee Scott's coach, Buster Danny asa last week coach we had for that,
(13:33):
No, I was wondering, coach, kind of tall? Am I
doing this with you? Hey?Hey? Come last week against Hey,
last week against Fort Dale? Coachbig win forty two to ten. You're
gonna talk about that when we cangot then we'll talk about the game you
got coming out? We got aguess here we do Tyler Kennedy right,
yes, yes, sir? Whatposition? Tyle? Running back? An
(13:56):
outside linebacker, outside linebacker and runningback? Okay, also deep snapper.
He can do that to the deepsnap. Well, he he he's hurt
all the time. He breaks everything. I'm gonna call him evil because he's
broken every bone in his upper body. I think, yeah, he didn't
want to go down that road. He's right, he's had a cash for
a while and quit snapping. Buthe came back like you never never missed
(14:18):
a beat, Just jump right back, you know. But he's a snapping
to well, he's he's a hesnaps. He's not the starter right now,
Okay, coach, before he wasyour long snapper, your deep Snapper
hadn't had a lot of friends.Y'all. Don't get pregnant. Now,
that's no, that's a good thing. We're not putting what you say not.
(14:39):
We're not putting over here, allright. So Tyler you you know,
I get configured Junior Jr. Soyou play linebacker and running back.
You and JJ rotated running back andthen linebackers refreshed me JJ, you JJ,
me bakes sim Sam over there isthat that young Sam Jacksons Okay,
twenty four to four? There yougo, okay and Christian yeah, okay,
(15:03):
okay, irritate out how long you'vebeen playing football for coach shoot since
eighth grade? Okay? So youall the way through? Yes, sir?
All right? What you think aboutlast year and coming through this year?
You win the championship last year undefeated, You've been a part of that.
You've been a part of this ride. Coach said, you've been in
we'll we won pass b Now,No, you know what, I will
(15:24):
agree with that anything. In fact, me, mister Ridge either coach he'd
been at the Ridge too, sothey had also one hand or that you
were you were. I never forgetto see that picture in the paper and
you got your holding your cast upwith the ball and the other. Now
that's pretty good. But I docommend you for that. But talk about
that ride and your team last year, yeah, and then going into this
year. Yeah, last year's rideand so far that's those seniors were just
(15:46):
special. I mean they brought adifferent energy, a different vibe to the
team. You know, those guysdid have right and then coming in this
year, Tyler, y'all have donereally well. You had one little bump
in the road, a loss overit. Would I let you talk about
so far from going from there tohere? Yeah, I think I think
we're starting to find our identity. And the offense's spreading everybody out, running
(16:07):
out the middle and then throwing itdeep. And we got to you know,
because we got receivers they can catch, we can run the ball,
We can really make the defense. You have to choose between, well,
we didn't cover all right, we'retalking least got We've got coach Daniels Tyler
Kennedy. Tylers are running back, linebacker. You play at Edgewood Friday,
then you go into a bye week, then you have a semi final game
(16:30):
in a playoff game. So sohow do you approach all that, Tyler,
I gotta keep getting better today's priceand have a lot of energy.
We got to bring not necessarily mistakes, but I need to get the enthusiasm
back up to where it should bebecause we had a good week last week,
really good back week last week. How Joe ended, did you get
a straight or did a big winagainst Fort Delle practice? Today? Uh,
(16:52):
we got it straight. We gotit straight up, straighten up after
we went from offense to defense, though the defense picked it up a little
bit. Coach, you want toI like that here now from time listen,
like having coaches on the field. You know, it wasn't good officially.
We we started over, you know, we had a little come to
Jesus meeting, got it start overand went through offense again and then flipped
over defense and it it picked up. But it just wasn't a great day
(17:14):
for us. And they know that. I'm gonna have to tell them.
I did tell them, but theydon't. They don't have to do it
so they know they know what it'sgood when it's bad. Tomorrow of the
morning practice. That's what I wasjust going to you, like that five
forty five warning practice. Yeah,I mean, I think they're awesome.
They they never really like energy, which is surprising. They never what we're
always kind of fired off from that. Yeah, I think it'd be the
(17:36):
other way around. I could seethat those morning practices are yeah, because
you are thinking any afternoon you arebailing all out of there. Right,
What do y'all do at five fortyfive on a Thursday each other? What
do we do? Yeah, wehave a normal practice. They get on
that run through. Yeah, weget on the field that yeah, memory
whatever, if it's raining, weget out there. You know, I
ran too hard. But it's anormal practice. You know. We go
(17:57):
through offense and uh, the bodialdefense and then we go shot with eat
breakfast going shells and no it's justshorts, shorts, helmet. Yeah,
okay, Now you have to beon the field at five forty five taller.
Well, he usually gets the lockerroom around five forty, So you
make sure you're there. Get onthe field of five forty five. Yes,
you always there at what time?Uh, five thirty five? You
(18:21):
ready, that's when I get there? There you go? Okay, all
right, So we got Edgewood.Tell me about Edgewood. Edgewood we're looking
to, you know, keep competinglike we treat them like every other parent,
I think, and then we'll bethere tonight. Okay, just play
hard, hard three games if yourealize that, yes, win is there?
Okay, anything else, got onego in mine? What's that winning?
(18:44):
Stayed again? I say again?Okay, all right, coach,
you get anything else you want toadd? You know you got some good
guys, got great guys. Greatguys'all find young man like he's out here
talked about and uh like I said, he's been with me since he was
in eighth grade when I got there, and I've watched him grow into the
the other player he is. Anduh got a really really good junior class
which is his class, and goodsenior class and looking forward to Friday night.
(19:07):
You know we uh like he talkedabout, we don't treat anybody different.
It was the best team in thenation of the worst team. He's
still gonna prepare and we worry aboutleast God getting better. You know what
you have and you've played well onthe road to coach your job one a
little Tyler. Nice to see,but I see job one of the Ridge
boys right there. Guys, Yeah, yeah, care of you to bring
these guys. Tyler just love.We gotta get a picture. Good luck
Friday Night. That's Lee Scott BusterDaniel, Tyler Kennedy. We're those Lynette.
(19:33):
When we come back from mose Barbecue, brought to you by the Orthopedia,
clint Hey, welcome back to theHigh School Coaching Show. We're here
(19:53):
from Mole's Original Barbecue. It's broughtto you by the Orthopede Clintic Moe's Original
Barbecue Kicker FM Lee County's Best Countryfive Sports The Game nine thirteen ten.
We got coach McDonald from Lynette steppingup with us this time. Coach,
you miss have you missed a show? You're the regular I got you.
(20:15):
Gotta get it done. You gotaknock it out. Yeah, Uh,
last week tough loss. You needed. That's a game you needed to win
to make get into the playoffs.Absolutely absolutely. You know if they're about
as hot as anybody out there rightnow. You know they were big,
they were physical, had a reallygood running back committed to South Alabama.
Uh you could tell why, likeyou had like sixteen hundred yards coming in
(20:37):
maybe something around there, and uh, you know he just did what he
did and they did what they do. So tough night for us, but
uh, you know, we gota lot of young guys, you know,
try by you know, put themin the fire and uh just got
to keep pushings and uh finished thisseason out on a strong note. But
you know, hey, like wetell everybody all the time, better get
(21:00):
us while we're down because we gota lot of young guys. So if
we just get him, get himgoing and we'll be all right. And
we talked about this all soon, young players. Actually last year was a
noble suggle with all the young playersand this year so I loan that and
uh, well yet Barbara County,Yep, I don't I don't think they've
ever beaten No, I do notbelieve. So I don't think. I
(21:22):
don't think it will be this year. Yeah. Yeah, rough, uh
you know, rough year down therefor them. But you know, coach
Lever does a good job. Heuh you know, he's got a little
bit more energy. You know, they broke that streak that they had,
and you know he's he's done agood job down there trying to at least
he's got the numbers up. I'llgive him that. He's doing a lot
(21:42):
of really good things down there forthem. So it's just you know,
we're gonna go down there and youknow, try to finish the season on
the high note and play a lotof play, hopefully play a lot of
guys. What is what does BarbaraCounty do? Coch do? Well?
Yeah, that spread had a reallygood little quarterback. I mean he's really
athletic. I think he's one ofthe better basketball kids, which just make
you know much about Barbara County basketball. I joke I can play now,
(22:03):
uh yeah, but heads not uphere? What do you think are we
saying there? Basketball school? Coach? I like to play that they love
they love hooping. Now we likethe basket. Is it tuesday? They
can get in the gym. Knowthey're in there now, I'm pretty sure
now transition from that the transition. But you know, we're gonna go down
(22:23):
there, try to play everybody andfinish season on a high note and you
know, hopefully h you know, start off on a good note going in
next year. Have currently we havethree one of them plays okay, so
you know, and next year wedon't have a six six juniors, so
(22:48):
a lot of young guys, Iknow, I say it all the time
every week. And I tell youwhen I tell you, we're starting four
to five eighth graders and we havea seventh grader that's really really talented playing.
I mean that you got a seventhgrader that plays, yeah, and
he's actually pretty talented. So theygot a year under the bell now already.
He's been playing all here. Yeah, that's the same when he told
(23:08):
Okay, he did, he was. He was special teams early on in
the year, and he's kind ofplaying a little bit more corner, a
little bit more receiver right now.I didn't mean it could not replace a
young man that got hurt. Coachmaybe. Yeah, yeah, he stepped
up for us that week, himand a h him. I remember you
telling Jeff and I that one wehad guys, we got to go with
the seventh grader because so and sogot hurt. And I said to myself,
(23:29):
and now that's young, but he'llfight. He's making it like no,
no, no, I know,I just got that's young. Yeah,
yeah, because absolutely, I mean, dang, that's that's young any
level. I'm just I didn't meanit. I just sat here. I
remember that night. I mean, that's pretty special. If you can play,
Yeah, yeah, yeah, becauseI like he does it. Seventh
(23:51):
grade, eighth grade, ninth andthen he's got here. He had a
great junior high season. Caught alot of balls, I think seven touchdown
passes, a couple of picksthally,he handled physically. Doesn't get good friends,
That's what we're telling you. He'sa lynch up there. So you
know much about when that lynch isthere there, there's a lot of it's
gonna be a big Is he gonnabe big? I think he's got a
(24:12):
chance to grow. He's gonna bereally lanky. He's got really long arms.
It's a lot about him. Sohe's about five five eight now somewhere.
I guess you look at this.I know, y'all. His brother
was really good. Knew that family. His brother last year graduated was was
o. He was was very muchlynch. That's his little brother. You
(24:33):
remember him. He was one ofthe he was a stud years ago,
yeah, seventeen, Yeah, wella few years ago. Yeah, I
remember that very good. Well,Hey, I love the way y'all.
All. I've sat here this yearand listened to seventh grade, eighth grade.
I mean, all y'all, dowhat it takes to competing. I
love that, So I admire theway y'all do that. So Coach could
(24:56):
see you appreciate. I appreciate ally'all. Yeah you too. Keep get
up Friday night in that thing onthe right note. That's Coach McDonald and
the net where at Moles Boreguard Hornetsare next. Our show is presented to
you by the Orthopedic clin that willcome to Tenue in a moment. Hey,
(25:22):
welcome back to the High School CoachShow. We're coming to you live
from Moele's Original Barbecue. Ordinarily,Justin Jones will be introducing bringing this this
next team in, but it's meand I'm hey. It's the most exciting
seven minutes of radio right here. It's coming to you live from Moses Original
Barbecue. Was brought to you bythe Orthopedic Clinic, Fox Sports The Game
(25:45):
and the Kicker got Coach Adam Wallaceright, that's it. I had to
ask you why. I was justgonna call you coach, But coach most
people do. It's coach to mostpeople, all right. Last week,
Coach Boreguard dropped a tough one toCentral UH Central Central Clay County. That's
right. I had to. Iwant to say Clay Central, but as
(26:07):
Central Clay County. I've called themclay Shopbore before. But yeah, Central
of Clay County forty nine to seven. They you've told me they they're good.
They're good as advertised as well wellcoaches you would think they would be.
And uh, you know, whenyou make mistakes, it don't matter
if it's Clay Central or whoever itis. Uh, when you make mistakes,
people make you pay for it.And we, uh we got we
(26:30):
dug ourselves a hole. We downtwenty one to nothing pretty quick on to
two short fields. I mean Ithink they got the ball twice inside their
on ten on the first two drives. You know, with mistakes in the
kicking game, we dropped a punt, had a bad snap when we punted,
and mishandled of snap and that costis so so when you give good
(26:51):
teams a chance like that to uhto put on you, they're going to
capitalize. And we just have tostop. We had to find a way
to stop making those mistakes, rightwell, coach, and it's they're a
very good team and coach by livinglegend, he's one of the best.
You know, he may end uphis career being the all time winning What
is that we heard that? Idon't know if he's got enough fingers to
(27:11):
put all the state chamship. AndI'm telling you, if they keep playing
like they're playing right now, he'sgonna have to have have more fingers because
they got a really good chance togo and win that thing. So,
hey, you got what you got. You got two games left and regular
two non regions because you got togo to uh you're at Jamison. That's
right, you played them last year. Coach we did what's what what have
(27:33):
we gotta do to be so,you know, for us, and you
know, coach Jones says this allthe times, it's more just about us
getting better. You know. Wehave two weeks really to prepare and get
ourselves ready to go the dance, you know. And you know, we
shared a story with our football teamabout you know, teams in the past
who have who have came into theplayoffs to three or four seed and then
they get hot at the right time, they start clicking at the right time,
(27:56):
and and all of a sudden they'replaying for a state championship. Yeah,
and so we believe, you know, and we've We've said it along.
We we believe we have the teamthat could do it. Uh,
we just have not showed that consistentlyenough on Friday nights to win the big
games against good teams. I knowthat football is in us. You know,
some of that's youth, you know, some of it is just you
(28:17):
know, other things making mistakes andwhen it's not, you know, very
untimely. But uh, I knowthat game's in us, and we're just
we're uh, we're preparing those kidsand getting them ready to hit our stride
when the playoffs start. Jim's isnot going to be a very tough opponent,
well you know, but you knowyou're going over there. Uh,
their kids still have a lot offight in them. They've lost a couple
(28:38):
of close games. You know, they're one and seven, but they've lost
a couple of close games. Andand those kids, you know, watch
film, they don't have any quitin them. So you're not just gonna
show up and win the football game. We're gonna have to go over there
and play. Well. You know, many teams already know who their opponent
will be. Yeah, yeah, ours is kind of shaking up, you
know, and so uh we knowWe're going down to Mobile and and this
(28:59):
you know, this is about atwo hour trip on a bus. So
this is gonna prepare us to uhto make that trip in the playoffs,
kind of get our kids used to, you know, taking a longer trip.
So you know, I think there'sa lot of positives to it.
The biggest thing is going down there, putting a four quarter football game together
and play our best football and uh, just building confidence as we get closer
to the playoffs. All Right, you got Carol, I mean I'm sorry.
(29:23):
You've got Jamison and then Lincoln Lincoln. Yes that is Lincoln a home
and yeah, Lincoln Lincoln will beour last home game of the regular season.
Uh. You know Lincoln's coach,by I got one of my friends.
His name is Matt Zedeker. Alwaysa very physical football team, always
have good athletes. Uh. Butthey're at the point too. You know,
we're lucky enough to have plans tomake the playoffs and making that those
(29:47):
plans, and they haven't. Youknow, they they fall at short the
playoffs again, lost several really closegames, and so uh, you know,
it's it's more about us and usplaying well and us us putting a
full quarter football game together. Iknow you can do it. We can
and we're going to at some point, hopefully it's this week. Yeah,
I hope that from here on out. Yeah, no doubt. Hey,
let's go make a run at theday. That's that's this is. That's
(30:08):
coach Adam Wallace with a board guard. I hope the girls come back.
I appreciate it about jam Coach johnesOr. I'm looking for the next update,
Bolliball team. Next up will beuh loach Poker. We'll be right
back. We'll listen to the highSchool Coaching showy. Hey, welcome back
(30:37):
to the High School Coaching Show. It's Jeff sash or d Won't Mitchell will
coming to you live from Moe's OriginalBarbecue. It's brought to you by Mose
the orlso p D Clinic five Sportsthe Game and of course kicker ninety seven
point seven Lee County's best. Uhcoach you had to Mario Walker coach Mario
Walkers coach the defensive backs from loachPoker. Now, who's who's the coach's
(30:59):
with you now? Tyree Martin? The line line? All right, all
right? Last week, man,you couldn't ask for a better game.
Oh yeah, it was a goodatmosphere championship game, and the kids came
out to play. They were motivatedall week to get to win. Uh.
We didn't have to do much froma motivation standpoint because the kids came
out and they understood and they wantedto have it. We've been working hard
(31:22):
all year just for that moment.Yeah. Uh, coaching, as a
as a fan watching the game,it was a lot of fun and man,
I was pulling hard, hard hard. Saw some things I didn't like,
but that's okay, we want togo down that road. But hey,
you know you got you got someplayoff experience for your team in week
eight. Yep, because that's thekind of team you eventually, you know,
(31:45):
exactly right now, we're telling theguys to treat every game like a
playoff game. At some point inthe next couple of weeks, each game
will be a playoff game and they'llbe win to go home. And we're
trying to go ahead and put thatmentality into them right now that we got
to take a week by week, one game at a time, and you
know, it's a win and gohome mentality at this point in the season.
(32:06):
Uh, So you clinched, Youclinched the region championship. All right,
this week you've got your your weekten, you're off. We're off
next week, which comes at agood time because we got a couple of
guys, got some nicks and bruises, which you know that's typical at this
time and you're for any team.So we got a couple of guys,
probably need a few highest bells acouple of days. Also, next week
(32:28):
could give us a chance to getour legs back under us and get the
game play and plays for the firstround and the of course you think you
do, you think by before thatweek's up, you'll know who your opponent
will be. We kind of knowalready. We're thinking right now to probably
be Southern chalp talk. Okay,so y'all you know what region you match
up with? Region one? Okay, So so I'm assuming somebody's gonna go
(32:51):
scout the mint. Well, rightnow, we will focus on Billings,
like I said, yeah, yeah, let's take care of them. We're
trying to take care of Billingsly,we're gonna worry about sort of talk talk
next week, which we get startedand get looking at them. See how
what all we need to do toget ready for that guy. That's a
physical game. Is anybody everybody healthy? Coach? Yeah, the game last
week came out pretty healthy. LikeI said, we got the typical football
(33:13):
bruises right now. The kids justprobably needs the eyes as much as they
can and rest right now. Well, this week, we don't have any
major issues with injuries, you know, like I said at this pointing to
get everybody's banged up, so there'sno excuse. Yeah yeah, I mean,
yeah, you're playing against guys thatare just as banged up as you
are. With the not injured buthurt. Yeah. So yeah, yeah,
you have you have that coach uhwho played well for I know Darling.
(33:37):
You know what I really I wasreally impressed with your back week a
week Anthony week. Yeah, hewas impressive too, Coach Anthony. This
is a change of pace back. He's so he's our power back. He's
one of the guys you put in. He'll be able to move to power
a little bit. He's a goodcompliment to Darlington. We need to get
him some more carriages and we're gonnatry to get him more category carries this
game to get Darlington a little bitof a break. And number twenty one.
(34:00):
Number twenty one, that's JB andGary Gary. Gary. Gary's our
wild man. He's our leader ofour defense. He's the guy that makes
the strength called and makes sure everybody'slined up right at weekend and week out.
He's also the guy that at practice, you know when kind of getting
the little that practice. He's oneof them guys to keep the energy up.
He's fun to coach. Well,I'll tell you what. He had
(34:21):
himself lined up just right a bunchof times. Oh yeah, yeah.
He has a nose for the football. He's always ball he does. Y'all
really look good. You look goodtoo. I appreciate that, But like
I said, we gotta keep itgoing. Oh yeah, they coach.
I was like getting no, verycongratulations, great job. Pretty proud of
y'all. Oh yeah, proudly oneway poke away, Yes, sir,
(34:42):
there we go. Thanks for beingwith his coach. Take a break.
Let's choking. Next up, Daveville, You're back at Mo's Barbecue. Nice
to coach you. Show continues presentedabout I've got a bad cough on be
(35:06):
coughing. Here a minute presented bythe orth Peter Clinton, and we got
Dean Mark Jeff and Jason Lee here. Ricky Carmack's the owner at MOSE.
We appreciate him for feeding all ourcoaches here tonight. What did you get,
Jeff? You know, I gotthe pull port of sandwich tonight.
That's different sweet potato. Oh,that looked good, coach, Joey Birch.
What looked good? Coach Sweep?Yeah, I didn't get it,
(35:29):
but they put the what it's onthe top of that corner flex? I
think, Yeah, it was verygood. About the stream Wood Wildcats.
You yeah, they went to NorthRiver Christian. You know what, I
I knew it coached before you went? Were you you were? Were you
here last week? We had homecomingactivity, No, had home coming all
week. Every week you looked atus. You looked at me. Yeah,
(35:54):
that's a loan. That's about threehours. About that game against North
North they really they're not very school, you know what, I don't know,
I don't think. So they've gottenall the new stuff and they're they're
developing their athletic program and trying todo a good job with it. So
(36:14):
uh uh. They came in.They were a pretty physical team for US.
Uh. But we took care ofbusiness and Uh, did pretty good,
had a good homecoming. Now you'reyou're getting you're into playoffs now,
right? Yeah? Yep with numbertwo, se with eight and two.
So we finished up last week,so we got an off week this week,
and then we're gonna get a byeweek, so it's you're off for
(36:35):
two weeks. We're off two weeks, which I don't like it all,
but uh, we're kind of takingit easy this week. We're gonna practice
about three days this week and aboutfour next and get back into the groove.
Baby. In the playoff, Ithink there's six in that one that
are gonna make six time for thatwell one and to get by three is
(36:57):
gonna play six and four, it'sgonna play five. Just like think about
them like Li Scott, Yeah, the same thing as Lee Scott in that
group. So you would probably playthe winner of three time. Right,
I'm number two. I'm gonna playthe winner of yeah three, and you
go watch three game get both ofthem gottered? Right? Well, I
don't know. I may stay athome. I'm old, you know,
remembery he's old, Like, yeah, by thirty, I gotta get in
(37:20):
bed. Well, ID you're gettingthat age on you getting started a feeling
when you call. Then I waslike, wait a minute, now we
may not be exact day right there. That was a compliment, you know
that. Oh yeah, all right, so what do you do you mean,
like, what do you do thenext two weeks? Well, we
went back Tuesday, had a realgood practice. We took Monday off just
(37:45):
tackling you know, tackling blocking,go back to some basics, as you
say, on your off week.We did have some time to put in
some stuff and go over again, you know, stuff you may never use,
like a free kick, you know, and and just stuff like that
that that you hadn't paid attention toenough time during the regular season. So
we had a week we could writedown everything we need to cover and just
(38:07):
kind of checking the boxes office. We do that. So have you ever
used a freaking have you ever witnesseda game with it in person? You
know Auburn Hyde did that maybe fourfive years ago. So we showed the
kids and they were amazed. Sothat is at least good and it worked.
You tied the state records, staterecord. It was like a sixty.
(38:27):
Is there somebody smoking out here?Yeah? Somebody smoking. Somebody's got
a stack out Okay, go ahead. I'm sorry to interrupt, but it's
like a fire. Yeah, it'sfine, go ahead. I'm geez but
I've never seen it in person.We've I practiced it a lot. I
thought to use it one Can youkick? Can you kick it? I
got a kid again, kicke it? Yeah, especially a free kick like
(38:50):
that. I'm about to be ableto You've been able to be good from
forty five this year. Tried itlast week ideally. Yeah, I think
I think coach Wyane going Hardenfielder top pump like two seconds left, he
did. They didn't see that onintra media. Yeah, I didn't see,
wasn't it. I never and theother guy to be back ten yards
(39:12):
and they can jump and holler anddo everything they can't. Yeah, that's
pretty neat. Who's played well foryou, coach that we hadn't missed this.
We've talked about them all, butbut we can talk about him again.
A quarterback played well. Uh,had a good game. He threw
for about one hundred and fifty sixtyyards. Had a new kid that kind
of has developed. He's a juniorCole Pearson. Uh. I think he
(39:35):
ran to open the kick off backand and got it started the right way,
and I think he scored two orthree touchdowns. So he had a
great game. And say he's beena role player, you know, throughout
the year. In the last twogames he's really turned it on and and
become a real big part of theoffense. Yeah, were all right,
so your numbers, you see himgrowing? Any coach, we were talking
about that this morning. I hope. So it's tough. It's tough.
(39:59):
I think we'll probably be Nate Manfootball at least another two year cycle.
I do have some good younger kidsthat we're developing up. And you know,
a couple of my coaches went lastnight and saw them playing their little
league games and and with that group, we think maybe we can get back
with leve Man with them. Andyou don't build it up from bottom up,
do it? Right? What arethey playing at the pee? We
(40:19):
leave? Oh they're playing at WestPoint And no, no, no,
what they're playing eleven? Oh they'replaying eleven. That's what I thought,
he said, Yeah, that's youknow, if you could you don't know
how in Roman that's your situation is, well, who knows? You need
an influence. That's kind of whatI was saying, school's kind of consulting.
Things happened and he Roman is goingup, so it's encouraging. We
(40:39):
went from about two forty thirty toabout we're about to sixty right now,
so we're growing. Look at you. When I got the leadership in the
right direction, I hear the littleone yelling and scream on I'm playing golf
up there on on Fridays school,I'll say this coach, you've done a
good job. Like I said,I don't number two. Yeah, yeah,
you're right there side. I probablymode over a ball or two.
(41:01):
The Yeah, the coach, I'mhitting in the I'm hitting it down there
in the pavement. But no,you have done a good job making that
program steady. Oh a great time. It's been a blessing to me.
Yeah, you've done a good job. You play on full size see,
yes we did. Yeah, wewere talking about that earlier. And now
we went to Georgia a couple oftimes. And you know, they have
(41:23):
standardized roots over there, and allof them play on the smaller fields,
and we have played on the skinnyfield as we call it before three games.
They played on corners, corners, long rings, and it makes a
whole difference. That's what he said. Yeah, it does. It windens
it, right, coach for shorteningit, and it makes it more comparable
to the level. Yeah, becauseyou said with the football field you get
(41:45):
Yeah, you were talking about that, you know, and when you said
that, I wasn't thinking about theregular field being kick off returns or some
of the most dangerous. We doput a lot of time in that man
to make sure I'm doing that. And if you've got a real good kicker
and he could place the ball, you know, it's a man's land can.
Yeah, And we do that withour kicker. He's good enough that
(42:07):
we have a levels that he callsout and he tells them and we we
encourage him to do it where he'sgonna go, where he's gonna kick it.
He calls it out and he saysright or left and whether it's gonna
be deep, middle or or orthat's pretty good. Yeah. Yeah,
coachy, fun learning it. Yeah, Right, two open weeks, right,
two o weeks and then we getinto the playoffs. Yeah, it
(42:28):
sounds good. Thanks for being here. We got some more food. Deep
coaches you next week spring rolling along. They're in the playoffs. They got
two weeks open and then they'll beI appreciate you. We're gonna continue here
with our coaches show. Where weat Jeff, We're rolling with Davel,
Roger McDonald. Coach Shows presented bythe Orphan Pede, Clinton Davills Spring Who
we got left yep Few Russell CountyRolling. Welcome back to the High School
(42:59):
Coach Show. Jeff's Sir Dean MarkMitchell. We'll coming to you live from
Mo's original Barbecue. We got Bill. Yeah, I'll go ahead and be
a little land Not go ahead,I'm gonna cough. Uh. We got
coach Pepper coach? Is it ofcourse of coursing. I want to say
Carson, you always say Carson. That's a right. Good to see y'all,
gouts. Good to be here, guys. We have to eat tonight
(43:20):
at mose Wings. Always always Ihad to shrimp mo boy? How was
it? What is that? Itwas good? It's like a po boy,
but going a moboy ot shrimp onit? Yeah, okaylaw I had
it last week. It is good. It's pretty good. Can Coach Johnson
said it was underrated? Underrated?Underrated? Is it? Do you agree?
Well? I think it's ready justfine, I have it all the
(43:43):
time. All right, Randolph Countylast week coach fifty to twenty nine.
Let's talk about that, and thenweaver on the road this week to get
in the playoffs. Yes, sir, uh, just something real quick and
then we'll go there. Last week, I'll be honest, when you had
a chance to win the ball game. Score was twenty nine twenty eight,
less than sixpents going the ball game. It's amazing. And they go in
and score. They get thirty fourto twenty nine. We're driving, get
(44:07):
down to about fifteen yard their fifteenyard line, throw a pick six,
they kick off to us. We'redriving again, so I mean, you
know, clocks running down, drivingagain, down to maybe twenty or another
pick six. That's why the scoregot out. You know, at the
end it looked looked really bad,but it was thirty four to twenty nine.
Were five minutes going the ball game. We're on that you know,
(44:30):
twenty five yard line, been running, you know, right down the throat,
and I had to throw the balla couple of times, and that
third time they you know, theirsafety jumped in and pick six. The
next series pitch six, and youknow the three touchdowns line. Yeah,
score got out of white six minutesto go. It's a one point game.
Then it ended twenty oh with USahead. Yeah, us ahead twenty
(44:51):
nine to twenty eight. Now wewere ahead twenty nine. I had a
point lead, yes, twenty nine, twenty eighty six minutes going a game.
I missed instudio when you total, said Jayson, I thought, y'all,
yes, no, twenty one points, twenty two points in fourth quarter?
Yes, good gracious, twenty eight. Now I see why you said
they can be when we want togo down there. Yes, yeah,
wow, excuse me, I didn'tmean to cough like that, but I
(45:12):
got it. But weaver, Yes, sir, let's go positives, we
win, we in. There's acouple of others like that. That's how
you gotta like a destination. Yes, sir, we're ready. Uh,
yes, sir. We had acouple of good gay good days. Practice
today was a little little, alittle as for some reason. We don't
understand that. But it's okay.Well you know we're bout back tomorrow.
But yes, I believe we're youngmen are ready. They understand the challenge.
(45:36):
Uh, they understand what's at stake. They understand this to the the
gravity of the game and and everything. So now it's just got to get
on the bus, get up thereand go to work like we did a
couple of well, like we didthe last two weeks. Really we played
like we did this past Friday night. Well, win the ball game.
If we get that same intensity,we win the ball game. Because Weaver
(45:58):
is not Randolph Camp. Anybody anystretches that of the imagination. But they
are very good office. They've gota very good offensive team. They got
a couple of really good athletes onoffense and defense. They're the defensively there.
We don't know exactly what you wantto call it a four to three
or whatever, because they're it's avery odd front. But we've we've practiced
(46:19):
it all week and we feel confident, you know, you know, in
our game plan. And now wejust got to go out and execute it
on Friday night. What does theWeaver do good catch, throw the ball,
run the ball. They mix itup pretty good. They run the
ball more than they throw it.They got uh, they got two fullbacks.
They put in like a we calleda Jack's formation, the two wings.
But they'll come together on the sameside. And then they'll they'll counter
off of it, or they'll lead, lead with them. I mean they
(46:42):
want to run the football. Theygot a they got a wide out number
four. He can he can reallyplay. Uh he get out and open
space and you're not gonna catch him. So we focused on, you know,
our secondary r dbs, you know, being able to you know,
make sure we know where foes atit all time, and focus on keeping
our box stacked and stopping to runbecause that's what they want to do first.
(47:04):
You know, they're probably sixty fortyruns, so that's what we're looking
forward to. We think that's whatthey're going to come out in. And
you know, we've seen on filmwhere they've you know, do some crazy
for nations out there to see ifthey could throw well run off for Randolph
County off. So you know, everything we saw on film, we've tried
to you know, at least showour guys and they've seen it and adjusted
to it. So you know,we feel like we felt like we've got
(47:27):
a good game plan in in thescheme, so now it's about execution.
The thing is, they have nothingto lose, you know, they're not
in the playoffs. They beat uslike you and first of all, they
came down here last year and itwas a game we were hoping to win
and we got beat. You know, it was an ugly game for us.
So they've they've got the momentum ontheir side from that standpoint. They
(47:50):
play it at home, they havenothing to lose. They're not going to
playoffs no matter what. But theycan spoil our opportunity to go. And
so we've got to prep ourselves mentallyfor everything we talked today. We're not
gonna leave anything on the table. If we've done it in the past two
or three years, offensively deficially,it's on the table to be done Friday
night. So you know, we'regoing up here to win the ball game,
(48:10):
not to keep from losing. Andwe're looking forward to the challenge.
You win, you in games, and then guess what we you know,
we we we win in and weget the number one team in three A
officially as of the day. ThenMobile Christian, uh whatever they are,
Mobile Christian, whatever they are,I mean, you know, Mobile Christian.
(48:34):
Let's get there first though. Concience, yepyes it is. It is
all right, coach, Thank y'all, go ball catbcats. We will continue
in a moment. You're listening tothe High School Coaches Show, presented by
the The Pete Clinton. Welcome backto the High School Coaching Show. It's
(48:55):
Jeff siss D, Mart Mitchell coachand Roger McDonald's with Well, we're coming
to you life of Moe's Original Barbecue. It's brought to you by the Orsi
p D Clintic Moe's Original Barbecue.Fox Sports the Game and of course kicker
f them ninety seven point seven,Lee County's Best Country coach. Good win
last week, you got you aplayoff spot. Yeah, we mathematically wrapped
(49:16):
it up and couldn't finish any worsethan third. Now, if we play
as good as we played last Friday, they ain't every ain't a lot of
people gonna beat us if we playedthat well. But you don't know if
you can play that well every Friday, And you don't know if that we
just happened to peak. But weplayed good and it was obvious to everybody.
I mean, look, we letthem cats up. We had four
(49:39):
hundred and fifty yards offense and heldthem to one hundred and nineteen after about
the third kickoff, after we've aboutdone decapitated a couple of they we just
take the kickoff and sprint out ofbounds and uh so we when I tell
you we got after him, wegot and you know the quarterback he s
(50:00):
foot three two forty five to thirtytwo thirty five something where he's pretty and
uh and there you know there. It ain't like we beat somebody had won
a game when we beat them atthat Childsburg is gonna could be in a
three way tie with Beulah and Weaverfor that playoff spot. If that happens,
they'll go. But that's the bestgame we played all year. I'm
(50:22):
hoping defensively, it's because all thesekids that have started it had never played
in a real game before it finallygot some confidence, you know, and
playing with a lot of confidence andgetting after it. But you know,
a lot of times as a coach, you don't like to say you played
very good, but we played realreal good. Yeah you sounds like you
did, coach, Well, yougot Randolph County next week. No that
(50:44):
next week, you got day week. Uh. Like last year it came
down to us and then for theregion championship, this time it came down
to Uh, it'll come down tous for the second spot. You know,
when you're young, you don't knowthat the same way they played this
past week, they're gonna continue todo it. It's just part of it.
(51:05):
But if we do, we're gonnabe okay. They're big upfront on
offense. I mean, like twohundred and eighty five ninety pound three hundred
big upfront. Uh, you know, we ain't quite that big, but
our kids play with a lot ofexplosion, and so we're hoping, you
know, we can get after himon that side. And we feel like
if our backs can get the secondlevel on offense, we feel like our
(51:27):
backs can be hard to tackle ifwe do that. And you know,
you'll really moved the ball well onthem this past friday. They ran the
ball real well against them, andyou actuals ahead with six minutes going to
games six minutes, we just filedthat out. So a couple of pick
six that's what made the game looklike that. But you know, so
(51:51):
you know, I kind of fromthe outside end had been pulling for bueling
them to get that full spot. You know, the big difference being two
and three is being at home onthe road. You know, everybody would
rather be at home and that's that'swhat we're doing. But you know,
I keep telling people just to bein the spot we're in right now.
Coming into this season, I tookit right now. I wouldn't have,
(52:15):
you know, because I didn't know. You know, we were wondering if
we could, if we could winone or two games, and then would
notice other council on as. Wedidn't know we could win one game because
it was just so many unknowns.I mean, you had two returning stars
on defense and one of them ischanging positions, and you had basically one
returning starter on the offensive line anda couple of backs that had you know,
(52:36):
rotated, so we didn't have Imean, we got kids that never
played in a meaningful football game beforethis year. And you know, we
start four ninth graders and we onlyplay about three seniors. So I mean,
total players do you play, I'dsay we probably play twenty twenty five
(52:57):
twenty four to twenty five guys. Now that may be a guy at Flinker
that only gets, you know, eight plays a game to rest somebody.
We rotate a lot of guys onthe defensive front. We rotate a lot
of backs running back. Yeah,So so we have we really we have
seven running backs really yeah, andthey can all play full back and tail
(53:19):
back and even go to white outfar us. Actually we moved Jay Burns
out to white out last week.Uh you know, he's just starting inside
linebacker. He's a good, realgood linebacker and plays tailback and fullback.
We moved him to wide out andthrough a fade for about a thirty five
yard touchdown pass. You know, like Garry Danielson, I always hear him
on Saturdays. He said, youknow it's about players. Get it to
(53:39):
you player. We put him outthere. I said, the ain't gonna
put but one out there to covering. Just throw it up, he called
it, and in is on fortouchdown. I mean, it's just,
you know, people make it realcomplicated sometimes and it's not. I mean,
it's the best player. Let thehorses run. Always heard when young
coach Lockers used to always tell them, if you're going into the war,
(54:00):
you're gonna shoot your little gun, you're gonna shoot your big gun. And
if you got a big gun,you better use it. Let the horses
run. That's it. Let themgo. I'll hold them up. So
you know that letting players play right, it's gonna be a huge game.
We gotta go to we DOWI.They're honoring their two thousand and three team
that went to the state championship.Won't coach, they ain't playing I might.
(54:22):
I mean they're twenty years older.I mean, you know what.
I yeah, and so they gotSenior Night and all that. So it's
gonna be a great atmosphere. Butour kids, we have had another great
week of practice and you know, like I said, we just keep getting
better and that's all I can askfor. So we'll we'll see how things
(54:43):
go. But if we play theway we played this past Friday, I
feel real good about our chance. It's good to see you Coach Eester,
just Coach Grider, coach speak andcoach Buster Daniel down there eating. That
was awesome. Oh man, ithas a good set right here. Look
here. I said, it don'tmatter if we even talk on this microphone.
I know that that matters what youdo. Thank you to allow this.
(55:04):
I know, thank you. Youhave no idea I do. I
look down. I loved. Iknow you're seeing them guys. Oh,
I know you got to tell storiestalk football and things that I have to
go through or they have to goand searches. We all get to say
you're going through that too, andyou don't feel like you're the only one
dealing with issues. So I'm tellingyou never stop doing that. Thank you
(55:25):
this, you know what I've knownthat. I'm glad you're saying that.
This is so get it. It'sso much. There's something right on my
right there in here. There's there'sabout five over here. There's five tables
right now in a group of y'all. Now that group right there you had
now coach speaking of coach, coachCrider, you coach Daniel. Now that's
that's that's a good that's a problemthere in the old group. That's the
(55:45):
old group. That's my group.I can remember rolling into Montgomery when I
first got into coaching for the Clinic, and there would be Coach Trey,
Yes, sir, coach, Yes, all Skis and too, probably all
those guys down there. And I'mthinking now Savyes too, because remember now
(56:07):
was ahead and now we're old.I know. I look, every one
of y'all are in the older club. Yes, look everyone, well you're
out over here now. Well busterCoach Daniels gone. But what a group
I didn't have my pick. Yeah, that's the twenty that's the twenty five.
That's the A r P Club.That's the twenty five. Yeah yeah,
let's look at that right there. Now they this is the thirty fourth
(56:27):
year I've been coaching. Really, you know when I two years after I
graduated, Coach White had me comehelp coaching have football. All right,
let's wreckon between y'all. Y'all probablygot one hundred and thirty probably at least,
cause you know, Schmitty started helpingbefore he ever finished. And you
know coach speakmans and I think yousaid tonight both Fitty did like me,
(56:49):
just started helping coach mccrack and gothim start helping. He did, he
did, So me and Schmitty bothgot about seventy between us two. A
lot of head coaching right there.Look at this is just amazing. It
is good. We enjoyed to coach. Thank you for coming. We appreciate
Ricky Carmack, mos Terry and allthe doctors Doroth Peed Clinic and what they
do. And we couldn't do itwithout y'all, So thank you. Allys
prays, I love you Jr.Good to see you, Bud. That's
(57:13):
Dave Bhigh School. Roger McDonald. We're at mos d Mark, Jeff and
Jason. We got a whole bunchof people here. Ricky Carmack, we
appreciate what he does. We appreciateDoroth, Peter Clinic and our coaches.
We're gonna come back. We gotback on track, Russell County coach Dylan

week. All kinds of good foodto eat, barbecue, catfish, kids,
food, vegetables, you name it, they got it. We encourage
you to stop by. They haveadult beverage too. And we're here every
(57:58):
Wednesday night for the High School CoachesShow. Coach and we're glad to have
you with us to Coach Dylan Griggs, Russell County in the house. Coach
Griggs, good to see you tonight. It's good to be here. Yeah,
congrats on your win last week, first one of the year. You
had a good one, was it? Twenty five ten? Twenty five to
ten? It was really exciting tofinally see the kids kind of you know,
(58:22):
get that off their back, andto see them smile after a game
and finally get to go to theband with it with a w and get
to see them, you know, celebrate it. It was a good night.
Yeah, twenty five to ten overa park crossing. Tell me some
guys you were telling me right offthe air there that he was kind of
like you had a little have todo a little shift rout there with a
bunch of players moving here and there. Yeah, no, we ended up
(58:44):
you know, having to unfortunate incidenthappened with a senior and you know,
he couldn't play the rest of thegame, and then we already had another
offensive lineman out for injury, andso we ended up having to of all
people, we had to move ourtight end to guard and change his jersey
number out. You know, it'slike literally the second play of the game.
You know, kudos to him,you know, he went in there
(59:05):
and we ended up you know,I think we had right out like three
seventy five on offense or something rightright on there. So it was a
good night, you know, offensively, and you know, I mean I
was, I was just really impressed. And you know, we had already
kind of been thinking about him beinga guard next year and kind of moving
him. So you know, it'skind of good just to see it work
out there. You go moving aroundto win it all right, you get
the w central Clay coach. Ohyeah, I get to hear that.
(59:29):
That's a great opportunity to put thatfirst day all on him, no doubt.
You know, Coach Horning his coachHorn and his teams are his football
teams. And you know, hecontinues to show. He actually called me
today and you know, he goton one of his spills and I was
like, you know, that's whyhe's a legend, you know. And
you know, I think he's fourvictories away from from beating the all times
(59:51):
state record, you know. Soyou know, and and and they're arguably
the best team we've seen all year. You know, I mean, their
offensive line as physical, their defensiveline, I mean, you know,
they do they do a great jobof just hitting you in the mouth,
and you know, they're their schemeis simple but effective and and you know,
just they've got good players who playfour quarters, you know, and
(01:00:14):
and you know, we hope tomake it a dogfight. Get to w
I know you do, coach.I mean, maybe the win breathes the
wind. Like I said, itis a good opportunity, you know.
Yeah, no, I agree.I mean, you know, I mean
you get a win like that, you know, that's that that could be
that segnature win that changes the wholeprodagram, right, it can't be.
How good are they? They're asgood as as average. Yeah, I
(01:00:37):
mean, you know, I meanwhen you watch them, you know,
it's you know, I was talkingto Bearwoods over with Tumkin. He's like,
man, we got them, likeyou know, we you know next
week, you know, and they'rejust I mean, you know, I
got to watch them a lot thelast time they won the state championship because
I was in five A at JacksonAnd this is by far. I mean,
I think they'd be a top fiveteam and six A easily. I
(01:01:00):
mean they're semi finalists. I thinkat six A. I mean, they
are that good. They are good. But any given Sunday is the Yeah,
you're exactly right now, you playinga lot. You've changed up a
little bit some of your personnel, right yeah, Well, you know,
at one point, you know,I think we started with like non sophomores
and then kind of moved to elevenabout game three, and you know,
by this point we're like at thirteenand you know, we got about another
(01:01:21):
five juniors and the rest. Youknow, we got at some seniors,
and the seniors who are playing men, you know, they're playing and it's
not that anybody's really quit. Noneof that's happening, you know, just
competition and as things are rolling, you know, those sophomores are kind of
just really kind of you know, playing as good, if not better than
the guy ahead of them, youknow, and you know the old rule
of thumb. And you know,I mean we got a sophomore cause every
(01:01:42):
kid that scored a touchdown this year, and I think right now our offense
is right in the other six A. When I looked at the points per
game thing on that football history website, every guy that scored a touchdown comes
back next year. I mean, our quarterback's already thrown for well over one
thousand yards. He's back next year. Just a sophomore running backs, a
sophomore. Four out of five ofour receivers or sophomores. Uh, I
(01:02:06):
think two of our offensive linement oursophomores. So you know we're excited about
the future. Are we're turning everybodyon the defensive linement one? You know,
just a young, young group.Keep getting better. You've got two
games left, two games left,we got them greenble will send your night.
Okay, all right, anything elseyou gonna mention? Coach? Oh
no, just keep fighting, keepfighting. That's right. Good to see
(01:02:29):
you in you always a pleasure.Thank you. We'll see you next week,
you sir. Russell Counties Dylan Griggsand the Warriors playing UH at Central
Clay this week. We're gonna takea break, come back with one Williams
coach tharting into little Fat Bulldogs fromMole's when we come back. Coach,
(01:02:55):
Hey, welcome back to the highschools the show with de Martin for Coach
one. Willis at high school andUH coach last week you got one of
the we got coach one. That'sall right. Sometimes we see coaches and
(01:03:16):
they don't see them at home withJeff, you know how we are.
It ain't I thought, yeah, yeah, we thought the camera was on
that radio dive. But coach Thorn, coach UH one willims good to see
y'all. We are at most onthe brand. The High School Coaches Show
continues with satiramento in the league.Go ahead if you do. Last week
had a home coach uh run intoa bus gem and they have a good
(01:03:38):
team. Guys. We were justover overmatched. But our kids played hard,
just over matched against a really goodhollow home team. So we praised
our guys for going out there andcompeting as long as they killed with them.
But like I said, they havea really good team, a lot
(01:03:59):
of athletes, a lot of athletes. They got nineteen juniors coming back,
so they got you been a goodteam. It's gonna be interesting between them
in real time Friday, It certainlyis. That will be a heck of
game. It's gonna be a game. You're right, go ahead, Yeah,
(01:04:19):
let's let's let's talk about that withbrief the coach. Yeah, you
know, we I see the highlightsof hod on home every week. I
mean, I gut this turned overto any sports channel that's covered high school
and they're gonna talk about Jeff. They really do. All these heads going
up and down, up and therelike Bob Way. And you know the
size of their team for two eight. You know you got kids walking around
(01:04:42):
well even to the you know, six three two tens quarterbacks with five ten
by two teams. I mean justyou know, good looking kids something that
they don't play look like, hey, come over. Yeah. So I
mean, you know, coach Househas done a really great job over there
with those kids, and they're gonnabe something to record with from this company.
(01:05:05):
What you thinks that game. I'mjust eager to watch to get to
see it. I'm I'm gonna calland say, hey, if I don't
get to see I can get tosee it. Can I just see the
take? Yeah, it's gonna it'sgonna be really a good game. Look,
I don't have anything against loun Imean Holland Holm, and I love
(01:05:26):
coach Johnson. Oh that's my guy, man, that's my guy. Like
him. Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, I know a lot of guys
on his staff. They got agreat thing for them, not for you
too. And I think like lastyear they had a seven six games,
So I think it's gonna be yeah, me too, or maybe higher.
But what about your game this weekwith Laverne, they got a big running
(01:05:49):
back you had lover. Yeah, they live BA. But our kids have
you know, we we bought ourhairds years the last two or three days.
We got all our kids still out, they still coming and learning how
to finish is gonna be one ofthe greatest things. So that's what we're
(01:06:11):
doing now is learning to finish andhaving a little fun with them this week
for this last game, and putit up after that, and and and
get some guys that's back that youknow. We we got a couple.
We got our guys back, butwe just gonna not put them in pads.
Let them start the off season right. Our guys have got injured.
(01:06:32):
So that's that's what we're working on. Let me soon as you got playing
Friday, coach six six six six, last game. Okay, nice to
get to w with all them youngones. Coach playing in this region had
to grow up and heard. Yes, I think you know one thing about
it. Guys. It starts withme. We we can't always stay down
(01:06:56):
and be young. We won't youknow, however this go uh, we
don't plan to have no slow stories, no more if that makes any sense
to you. In my book, you know, these guys are it's time
to okay you puppy and the littlepuppy loose. Now so we we you
know, not this year, butwe we we feel our time is coming
(01:07:18):
back. Yeah, you know, real good for you to say that,
coach, grow up play Yeah likethat? All right, good luck,
take care of that dollar you winit all. Always good to see you
guys. Appreciate your way, y'all. Promote your team all would be good.
Hey, there it is. I'llbe say on the market on the
mark tomorrow morning. We're at thecoaching show. We about said on the
mark, I did that, butwe say it every morning. Good see
(01:07:40):
coach Thorn, Thank you buddy, and know yeah we are. We're at
tyce Cooo Coaching Show. We continue, We're gonna take a break, come
back open like us. Eric speaksfrom mos Coaching Show continues in a moment.
Yes, that music means there's nomore commercial's coach, because we got
(01:08:01):
a high school coaches show presented bythe pe d Clinton. We've got to
look like an auvern, notasug ofBenjamin Russell. And is that it.
That's it left remaining coach Eric Speedmanjoined Jeff and I Jason coach. Good
see you, good to see y'all. As always, it's sir, how's
everything with you? We're good, good, it's sir coach. We gotta
(01:08:24):
we've got to win a game Fridaynight again. We yeah for well,
yeah, we've we've been approaching allweek that the playoffs start this week.
So yeah, you got four womenyuh went four week? No, yeah,
and yeah seven you got that onelast round. We've just been preaching
it this week. It just startsfor us this week, so you're yeah,
we're not even trying to get inthe playoffs. They start this week.
(01:08:45):
So uh, we've actually had probablythe better best two days of practice
we've had all year. Uh.That's got a big which is yeah,
I was and last week we didn'tyou know, just being honest, we
did not practice well last week andand we really didn't play well. Enterprise,
well we I say we didn't playwell. We didn't play as good
as we had played in some othergames. And and we talked to them
after the game that you know, last week for Enterprise, it was a
(01:09:09):
must win for them, Uh,to to stay in the playoffs and then
they'll play I think they play Leeand Jeff Davis now, so it was
kind of their last big, biggame and then they've got two winnable games.
So uh, they played like itwas a possible, you know,
lose and go home game, andwe didn't. Uh, we didn't play
well enough to go secure a spotin the playoffs, which is what we
(01:09:31):
could have done. So so westarted over on Monday. We came back
Friday and watched the film and thenbasically just told them to take the weekend
off and come back Monday ready toroll. And I'll be honest, we
had probably the best Monday practice we'vehad all year. So I was,
yeah, it was I was kindof worried going into it, but uh,
but you know, worries were gone, and kids are excited about playing.
(01:09:51):
And it's a really good group ofkids too, So it's they're fun
to be around and that that helpsand helps me with them around, and
they know what we go against everyweek, you know, the the gauntlet
of a schedule that we have andjust in this region alone, uh,
probably one of the tougher even wheny'all were there doing all of our games.
Bless you doing all of our games. Man this. You know there's
(01:10:15):
six really you know, Prival's kindof falling off here lately. But other
than that, five just really reallygood football teams in this region. Yeah,
there's no question, coach. Imean, you got two tough,
really really tough regions in seven A. Yes, in the state and regions,
and unfortunately we're right in the middleof one of them. So maybe
(01:10:36):
next year those ship two of themoff down South or something and they can
lighten up the load for some ofus over here. So all right,
let's talk about does and coach whatthey do? Run the ball? Yeah,
they run the ball. They runthat little spinner offense. Uh,
you know the Enterprise did when theguy Rick Darlington was there. And then
this guy that's now at Dothan,he came from Enterprise and he was the
(01:10:56):
defensive coordinator for coach Darlington and theybrought that same offense to Dothan and very
unique offense, very tough to preparefor. Uh, you know, just
even getting a scout team to replicateit. And it's one of those things
where you truly it's it would besimilar to defending like Georgia Tech, Navy,
those type and you know Georgia Southernwhen they were running it. You
(01:11:17):
remember they ran all over Alabama oneyear, and uh, you know,
it's one of those things that youyou truly have to make sure your eyes
are always where they're supposed to be. You cannot look at anything but what
you're supposed to look at, orelse they may gash you. So it's
been a really big preparation week forus as far as as the defense goes.
(01:11:38):
And then the good thing about itis, you know, they put
a lot of their best players onoffense. So it's a defense that we
uh you know, we've seen, you know, similar styles of this defense,
and uh so we're hoping that wecan maybe move the ball a little
bit and give our offense our defensivebreak this week. This is a wild
game last year, wasn't it was? It was a uh wow, oh
(01:12:00):
god, yeah wild would do anunderstatement of what I just remembered that that
really was. Was Yeah, itwas, it was. It was it
was a it was wild. Itwas from the get Yeah, this is
the game that that they invited Alabamastakes band I forgot about it and they
Yeah, they showed up in thefourth quarter sitting right behind our bench,
playing as loud as they could, and the officials wouldn't stop it, and
(01:12:25):
uh they ended up beating us fourteento seven. We had three touchdowns called
back and uh this is the gamethat that the other instant happened on the
other sideline. So yes, wildis is something that that would be an
easy way to describe what happened lastyear or so. But you are you
know, at least you if youwin, coach in that's that's it to
(01:12:45):
you. You got to work. That's good. Clock. Now we we
we go play well and win andyou and you get a week off and
then you come back and get readyfor the playoffs. That's right, you're
opening. Yeah, we'd the openweek next week. So, uh so
this is a big one for us. It was last last game, you
know, last regular season home game, and uh, you know, the
(01:13:08):
way the bracket sets up, youprobably look at you know, probably the
last game. Even if you makea run in the playoffs in seven A,
if you're the lower seed, it'shard play well, you never come
back home. It's just in thisregion and in that Birmingham region. If
you're a three or four and winkeep winning, you're always gonna be on
the road. Uh. So youknow, even Auburn last year was the
two seed and only got one.Now they got two and then they played,
(01:13:31):
Yeah they got had two and thenhad to go to Central. So
uh Central wanted again this year.So they'll get every game at home.
Uh they will, assuming there's noupsets, you know. So that's how
it work. Your guys ready team. Yeah, yeah, they're ready.
They know what's in front of them. So uh, like I said,
good group, good group of reallygood group of juniors that stepped up this
week and and it kind of ledyou know, a few seniors at help
(01:13:55):
and then but a big group ofthese guys that that don't want to see
these seniors not get keep playing.Tell me about what you think you can
do with them against them? Offensively, run the ball for it? What
do you Yeah? I mean,we look to run the ball, and
then we're gonna have to use Roamin a good bit, you know,
running and throwing. That's that's whathe does best. And you got to,
you know, our best foot offensivefootball player and most important players them,
So we're gonna have to run itthrough him, keep the ball away
(01:14:16):
from them. I guess right, yeah, you try to, but you
also can't get into that's their game, you know, that's what they want
to do. Oh yeah, theball I wouldn't think about, So you're
almost right. I talked to coachMassive the other day and I said to
you, you know, what doyou want me to do as far as
pace of play? And he said, just score? He said, I
don't care how quick it is.And you really don't want to get lulled
(01:14:38):
into playing their style of football andall of a sudden it becomes a fourteen
to seven game. Again, ifyou can, you know, maybe do
some things to take some shots andtake some chances and not, you know,
just hopefully you get a few stopson them, because they're tough to
stop. What do they do ifthey get behind coach they'll say they'll still
throw it a little bit. Butreally they the only two teams that they've
been Oh, they beat ENTERP Thatwas a really close game, but Central
(01:15:01):
jumped on them pretty bad. Andif you can, you know, hope
to do that you get ahead ofthem. I think they were up twenty
one to seven maybe going into halftime. So after that snowball, Yeah,
snowball that kind of like it doeseverybody against Central. I mean, can
you make them do something that comfortabledoing? I mean they're probably not comfortable
throwing it as much as possible, but you know that's that's obviously what you
(01:15:23):
try to do. But they gota few kids that can They got some
good athletes, I'll say that,I think can they play a good coach.
He's done a good job with himand getting that getting that system put
in, and it just that createssuch a disadvantage. It already gives them
an advantage over you, you know, whether you have athletes or not.
So coach, thanks for me here, Yeah, thanks guys, Yes,
sir, speak when you can hear. You're on the kicker Friday night,
(01:15:45):
seven o'clock. Dogs win, They'rein. We'll take a break, come
back. We've got coach Keith Ethridgeand Auburn I from Moles Barbecue. Welcome
back to Moles Barbecue. You DanMartin, Jeff Jason Lee, Coach Keith.
That's just joining us. How arey'all looking at I'm good, we
(01:16:06):
all looking at it. Look atit just just pumping right here. Sons
got sweet? Did he really?Yeah? Let me see that's pretty good,
right did right, Uh, that'spretty good. Right there. He
had to have a stencil or something. I'm sure he did. That's what
(01:16:26):
we say if he did that.Thomas, how you doing, coach?
Doing great, y'all. I'm good, I'm good. I'm good. Uh
Man tough, tough, tough weeklast week. I mean, yeah,
they're they're ranking number one in stayfor the reasons. Yeah, I'm good.
Yeah, he's pretty good. Yeah, he's really really good. Uh.
You know, and there the thingabout him is they got a lot
(01:16:47):
of athletes, they're well. Coach, you know, you can't make mistakes
against them. If you do,you're gonna pay for it, you know.
And we we made a couple ofmistakes. You know. It makes
you have to play almost perfect.Yeah, so or hope that they don't.
You know, but they got areally good football team, and I
(01:17:08):
think that Patrick does a really goodjob, you know, putting those kids
in positions where they're gonna be successful. And you know, they're good up
front, they're they're good at thesecond level, the third level. You
know, receivers are good, goodrunning backs, good quarterback. You know,
it's hard to find weaknesses. Youknow, before the season started,
coaching people were talking about the quarterback. He's new to the system over there.
(01:17:29):
Yeah, I don't know where hecame from. Probably school out of
Columbus, I think so. Ithink a school out of Columbus, Yeah,
somebody, or out of somewhere inGeorgia. Yeah. Uh, he's
solid. Yeah yeah, Well beforethe season started, man, you know,
really don't have those. They're probablygonna have to throw one of these.
(01:17:49):
Look, whoever that is telling him, come talk to me. I
want to tell you what he doesreally really well in this code number six
or four whatever. But what hedoes is he gets rid of the ball,
throws it on time, don't holdit, you know, don't you
know. He don't throw many badballs. He throws balls that are catchable
(01:18:13):
to his receivers. But if hisreceivers can't get it, usually nobody else
does either, you know. Soyou know that's that's it's hard to find
quarterbacks that to do that. Youknow, just he throws it away when
he don't have it. So he'sa really smart kid. And we hit
him a lot Friday night and hegot right back up. So tough,
you know, So I bet he'slike man, I'm glad I got these
(01:18:33):
guys around here too. He didn'thave that kind of talent wherever you come
from. I'm sure he didn't.If he did, they were really good
and I wouldn't have moved if Idid. But they got a great football
team. But and you know, that's some weird play. I don't want
we did, and you know,it's it's one of the things where a
(01:18:55):
lot of times you learn more froma loss than you do from when Yeah,
you know, so we're gonna we'regonna learn from it, We're gonna
get better, and we're just gonnamove on and hopefully we'll get a chance
to play them again. You know, I hope you know that. That
would mean we're in the playoffs andthey're they're still in it, and that
would be we got past the firstround at least, you know. Yeah,
So we just want to we justwant to advance and move on.
(01:19:17):
We got to win this week toperhap secure our spot. Yeah, troble,
what about problem. They've got themat home? Yeah, we got
them at home. You know, they've they've lost some games late in the
game, you know, and they'vebeen they've been up late and lost lost
a couple late in the game. But they they've got a good football team.
Running back big old kid. Ithought I would say he's probably six
(01:19:39):
two six three, about two tento twenty. Big old kid makes a
lot of plays for him. Youknow, they're really good upfront. They
got a kid with Alabama offer onthe defensive front, so you know they're
they're one of these teams that ifyou don't come in and play well,
they'll pop up and buy you innineteen eighteen All Time nineteen eighteen and two.
(01:20:02):
That's yeah, that's pretty serious. That's almost as closed as black.
Seriously, that's pretty I've never seenthat. I've never believed that. I've
never seen seven forty eight forty seventhree now, but that's amazing. You
can't make that. Ain't no wayif you told me somebody was that close.
No, No, you didn't whenI told you that. You yeah,
I know, they're like, No, there's years in our lifetime where
(01:20:28):
yeah, a team would win itten years in the circle next you know,
the other one one and then andthen the thing is it goes back
and yeah, but it's that close, the game that close together and wins
and losses and then the game comesdown to the last seconds you've had You've
had two I mean all three ofour games have been games that are you
know, really really close into thefourth quarter. Yeah, or either come
(01:20:50):
down to the last down to twoof the three have came down to come
to a couple of you could callblowouts, but not not not now a
four points but that is when it'sforty seven and three. That's you know,
that's It says a lot about thosetwo schools. Yeah, it does.
But yeah, Pratt, well, they got a lot of tradition.
(01:21:12):
You know, you said that, coach, all right, they can they're
still pratt. Well, now Iknow they don't exactly right they you know,
they're hurting a little bit with theirrecord. But coach, you had
a lot of you had a fiscalkky Lee that gay we over there,
Yeah, we got banged up alittle bit, right now, you did.
We were banged up before the goodYou know, we'll get some guys
back this week that had been hurt, but we also lose a couple of
guys. Yeah, yeah, Isaw some guys getting I got white tracks.
(01:21:35):
You know, he's he played twoseries with torn A c so you
know, but just couldn't keep going. We got him off and the doc
said, think it's torn. Sothey took him in did on Sunday and
Monday or Monday and uh yeah,it was tour towards a C Andniscus and
mc so hey. Teddy. He'sa good player, coach, great player,
(01:21:57):
great kid man. Just a leaderon our team. You know,
one of them guys that's quiet, but everybody respects because he does everything the
right way. You know, he'sa tackle machine. To you lost mats
in a a game, but yousay he's okay. When I say lost,
he went out. He went.We didn't bring it back because thinged
a little bit, so we didn'twant to. You know that kids some
(01:22:17):
more physical game. They were hittinghissical. I watched it, but I
wouldn't hear. You know, whenyou were on time, you know,
the sidelines, you hear. Iheard of this. I heard it and
we you know, we had toline up and we had to run the
ball. Yeah and you job coach, our back not quit coach. I
thought that, Uh, you know, we we threw the ball well when
(01:22:39):
we need to, we move theball up and down the field. You
could have the second half coach, and our guys could have quit, and
they did not. They been punchingthat thing trying to get out. I
love about these I will say thatwas impressed me because yeah, that game
could easy guy a hand halftime, because I will when y'all walked in,
I said, just came back outand fired right back at him. It
ain't no quitting this much. Yeah, And I think that's a tribute to
(01:23:00):
our coaches. I think a goodjob adjusting at halftime and and making some
making so much needed you know, tweaks. And I think that our kids
respond. Coach, your kids believethey can win that game, and they
and they think they can. Youknow, they think if they get another
shot out of thing. I don'tdoubt it. I don't doubt you know
what they may if we don't geta scooping, a score and something else,
(01:23:21):
we might not have that. Hey. You know, hey, brother,
I promise you this. I won'tI won't have them think they can
beat the New York Giants that wascoming. We're gonna take a break,
Jim out. I mean to noticethat Blue Devils. And we come back
to mos I Dog. We areat Moe's Barbecue. Our high School Coaches
(01:23:45):
Show continues presented by the Orthopeda Clint. We're here every Wednesday night. We
appreciate Ricky carr Back and the folksat Moles for taking care of our coaches.
We appreciate the Orso Peda Clint formaking the show possible at all of
our wonderful coaches, including the noticeOfcer Blue Devils. It's going on,
coach, that's going on, man, coach. We in the playoffs,
(01:24:06):
That's what I'm talking about. Job, sir, forty No thirty six,
thirty four win over buildings that gotyou in, coach, Yes sir,
yes, sir, that's good. Now right now? Are we three four?
Kind of give me the deal?Right now? We're in. We're
a three seed. We're playing tolock in the three seed this Friday against
Calhoun. Hopefully we can take careof business and go ahead and get that
(01:24:30):
three seed, number three seed. That is unbelievable. Four and four after
a very tough start, Yes,sir, in their coach, we did.
We did. It's a full seasonand it's it just says, it
ain't a sprint, it's a marathon. There you go. It's a long
marathon. So four and four fourand two in the regional. Remarkable comeback,
coach, that is really phenomenal.I sit in here and look at
(01:24:51):
these teams. You got poka unbeaten. You know that was a what twelve
twelve six, it was fourteen fourteensix. Yeah, score score game on
and they're undefeated. Maplesville sitting thereat five and one. Then you're Foard
too. You got three and threeCalhoun, and then you got two and
four Billions too, and fourth CentralAinyville. Of course I left out five
(01:25:12):
and one Maplesville. But wow, coach, good job. Talk a little
bit about playing this week. Well, give us a little bit about last
week's win. Give me some guys. Last week, it was a hard
fought win. I think everybody camein and did what they needed to do
for us to get that win.I think at halftime we were up twenty
two to eight and we ended upmaking it the game. But we were
(01:25:33):
able to fight through some adversity thatwe had during the game, and uh,
the guys really came through and wonthe game. Coach Jones, the
coaching staff, we really felt likeour guys really grew up last Friday.
Sounds like your coach who anybody's special. Show out our quarterback, our senior
(01:25:54):
Elijah Rodgers. He's been playing foodtballall year. We had our our running
back. He still rushed for overone hundred yards. Wasn't his best game,
but he still played goodball. Actuallymade a key field goal block to
(01:26:15):
force us to stay in the game. It's and and score that touchdown in
in in two pouncer version that helpedus take the lead and win the game
at the end. And what whiteyears he coach. Our Uh running back,
he's a sophomore. We actually gota a heavy sophomore class. Some
(01:26:35):
really good guys that's gonna be aroundhim keep us in contention for a couple
of years. All right, didwe talk about Calhoun? Have we talked
about not Set? Uh? They'rea really good team. They have a
very athletic quarterback. It's very goodat a standing plays and making plays when
he does that. But we thinkif we can keep him contained, Uh,
(01:26:58):
we gonna got a pretty good chanceto that game. If you if
you win this one, coach, you're a three six with a three seedy.
Certain you know what three seed is? The three seed? Playing the
two is better than playing a one. Exactly exactly we've been preaching to od
guys. We've got to make surewe do what we need to do.
Uh, to go ahead and lockup that three seed. I think overall,
(01:27:20):
I think we like our chances andand that's what we've been preaching the
whole time. Just uh, it'sgonna be the three seed. We're gonna
be one of the most things withthree seeds and out there. Yeah,
yeah, I agree with that.Great And you know this week you got
Calhoun, but you're just like,uh, several of the teams you come
there. You last week you're off, Yes, sir, like sir coach,
(01:27:40):
good to see you. Congratulations fromthe Blue Devils, Yes, sir,
Blue Go Blue. They were rollingalong. Great finish so far.
I got to finish it out. That's the Blue Devils. We've got Benjamin
Russell, Smitty Grider and Jason Allen, the two finalists from the Coaches Show
at Most, presented by The Orthopedic. They will continue, We'll come back,
(01:28:00):
Welcome back to Moe's Barbecue where getstwo thirty seven? Is ready bold
with the Pete Clint d Marry,Jeff Jason Coach, Smitty gridor what's going
on? Coach. He just gladto be here. Man. It's good
to see you. Good to seeyou, always good to see. It
is Benjamin Russell, wild Cat headcoach. Let me bardi che coach.
Yeah, did y'all clinch a numbertwo spot and if you win? Okay?
(01:28:21):
He fished the clinch of region. We we clinched at least third?
Okay, all right, so wegot region championship. Where a win Friday
night? That's right. Well, now it's gonna take a little bit.
There's some timeout on the field eighto'clock. All right, so what we
got, all right, give methe give me the scenarios, coach.
All right, if we win andBriarwood beats Homewood, we win the region.
(01:28:45):
So we got to have a littlehelp. No, we don't have
to, ok right, Well,we kind of do, all right.
So if we win and Homewood beatsBriarwood, then it's gonna come down to
game ten and we'll have to beatValley and ves Davia will have to beat
Helena and then that would give usregion champions. So there's no outright,
there's a lot of there's an outright. If Briarwood beats Home yea, and
(01:29:09):
we win. Now if and benjamRuss is gonna win for us to win
the region. Ok no, no, we we gotta win. And it
was well not well that would getthat would do it? Or or we
beat Valley game ten and best Davybeats Helen again, we will wrap it
up right to Briarwood wins and welose. We're second because we've been a
(01:29:34):
three ways the last time they wona region championship like thirteen, Coach Horn,
I know that. I'm pretty smart. It's been a while. Man,
We're good. We had a crazyone last week. Yeah, tell
me about well. We were downfourteen and a half and h really played
played well in the second half andwe got it down there with about two
(01:29:55):
minutes to go in the game.Uh, fourth and one, about the
ten yard line. We said,we're gonna let the clock run down.
We're gonna kick a field goal, and offensive coordinator says, let's try to
draw them off sides. You know, just we're gonna run it down anyway.
I said, okay, we callthe freeze play and the center snapped
the ball and nobody moved, anduh, the quarterback is like old crap,
(01:30:20):
and I am too, and uhMalcolm Simmons, our wide receiver.
He kind of all of a suddenrealizes what's happening and gets makes his way
into the end zone and the quarterbacksgot three of them draped on him,
and he's going down and just heavesit up and Malcolm goes up one hand
catches it. Gave us a butthat's what won the game then. Then
(01:30:41):
all right, then they're driving downtry to score. They got it about
midfield and we intercept the ball.Minute and something to go. Not enough
time to kneel it out. Theygot three time outs, so we get
it our two timeouts. We getit down to eighteen seconds and we're gonna
have to punt it to them andwe snap it over. Oh my gosh,
he falls up on it on hedid not, and I'm thinking,
(01:31:02):
Lord, we've won this game andnow we're gonna give it back. And
uh so they throw the ball inthe end zone and Malcolm Simmons based it
off. No and that was thegame winner. No way, crazy,
crazy night man. Oh when theball went over the punter's head, what
did you do? I almost criedit was over there? Yeah, I
(01:31:27):
mean I just and I was hopingbecause it's Malcolm Simmons is our punter,
Simmons, I'm thinking of it,Robert Lee. I was hoping he'll scoop
it up and uh and get offthe get run with Malcolm Simmons, go
ahead, but he uh, youknow, Malcolm Simmons is Davis thinking.
You played against him at Alabama, money at Alabama, thank you very much.
(01:31:47):
Battling me out. Well, he'salumni. Brought it up, but
uh, he fell down on it. He tried to pick it up and
fell down on the four. Now, you know, it was a good
learning lesson. You know, lookingback, he should have just kicked it
out of the back of the yeah, and then we could have kicked off.
And you know, but because itwas what over up five four?
(01:32:09):
Oh yeah, kick it out theend zone? Redkick how much? Two
minutes? It was eighteen, noeighteen, So well when they got the
ball there was eleven seconds left. They had time, they had no time
out, so they couldn't take achance running it. They figured they had
two chances at the end zone anyway. But I mean we played a great
second half. You know, quarterbackhad over three hundred yards and three touchdowns
(01:32:31):
and Malcolm had two hundred yards receiving. And Malcolm's a good one. He's
coach. He's the best one I'vebeen around at receiver. Helena. They're
undefeated, ranked in the top ten. They got the number I think it's
the number five scoring offense in thestate, the number three scoring defense in
the state in six A and gota good football team. You beat him,
(01:32:56):
well, I mean, I'll takemy chances with anybody. Know.
We've got a good team. Justdepends, I mean, on how we
play. We're a little beat updefensively. We're gonna be playing some young
kids Friday night. We're gonna playtwo freshmen and fourteenth graders on defense Friday
night. And uh, you knownow, they're they're good players and they've
been playing all year. A lot. It depends on how well we play
(01:33:18):
offensively. If we can, ifwe can do what we've done over the
last few weeks offensively, then Ifeel good about our chances. If we
can't move the ball and we haveto keep running the defense out there,
it's gonna be a tough night. They like to run the football. They're
big, got a big running back. They come down here, they want
to run it. Right at you. It's almost like the old fashioned eye
(01:33:39):
offense. Now they're in the shotgun, but it's still like the old eye,
and they run the buck sweep andall that. I think he's got
some wing tea in his background. And running back's really good player, he's
really good. And uh, youknow it should be a great game.
Both teams are playing well right now. And uh, you know their strength
is there is there offensive and offensiveline and their defensive front. You know,
(01:34:02):
our strength is our skill guys andin our quarterback and uh and you
know our little old freshman up frontare playing really good. Uh you know,
be a good challenge for him.Good little coach, thank you.
Sure we're going to get half.Do your part. We're gonna do everything
to take care of yourself. Quickbreak. We appreciate you, coach,
(01:34:23):
We love you. Man. JasonAllen Chambers Academy. Gonna wrap it up
when we come back. One teamto coach. This team is very physical,
you know, and they like tohit. And uh, you know,
if if you're talking ballet or piano, you know that ain't a big
deal. But in a game offootball, you know, physicality means a
lot. And and we got wegot speed, we got some good players,
(01:34:45):
we got size. You know,I'm just really excited about this team.
This team has continued to go onupward trend throughout the year, and
I think we're still still got ourbest football in front of us. You
could have gone two ways the lastfew years after the s got and you
went the right way both times. So you' and you lost an opener and
went the right way with it.Yeah, and that's a sign of good
program from talking us. Yeah, yeah, they believe in what we're doing.
De Mark on our great shows.Coach, appreciate you, Mas's great
(01:35:09):
and see you. Thank you forwaiting and being here and no fraud and
coming to the support to show appreciatewhat you do. Good luck, Thank
you. I like Coach Nelson's goodman, but I love you too.
All right, there you go.That's gonna do it for Mo's High School

the doctors, Ricky car Matt.We appreciate all our coaches. We appreciate
you, Jason Man, Jeff Gladyou could see me at see you in
