at MOS.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Glad to have you.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
This is week probably.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Fourteen for us because we've been here a long time.
Coach Essers was with me. But here's who alls here tonight,
Coach Moore. We got Coach Vines with bullet camp. We're
gonna talk to coach Jason Allen. Would Chambers be a
telephone because he's got a big mill going, He's got
a big championship game tomorrronight and Lynette's r J McDonald.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
That's the five that's left next week.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
There could only be one of you, guys, and then
it could only be three because Chambers plays.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
No, it could only be two. That could be three.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Because the one of y'all is gonna win, and then
could be Lynette, could be Bullot County, but Chambers already plays.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
They'll play tomorrow night. Coach Keith Thattherler joins, Just good
to see you, coach.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Good to see you. Yes, say to still be here?
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Great? I know it is, man, it is fun to
be here.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
That if you were playing ball this time of year,
I means your team is pretty dog on this. But
you had a great win last week on the road.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
I didn't see it. I was keeping up with it
on my phone.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
I saw it be a telephone at Floridoaca Stadium, but
I wasn't live. Forty zip forty forty zip final good
win over that good good win.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
You know, we played well, took care of the football.
Speaker 6 (01:56):
You know, Joe had a really good game, punk the
ball and kicking off, and we kept them pimped back
most of the game, gave up, didn't give up a
bunch you know on defense. So you know, did a
really good job of finding they were really good players
and keeping them in front of us and not giving
up the big balls and stuff. So I was really
(02:19):
you know that that's what worried me going into that game.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
You know, they have some home run guys.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
It was averaging thirty six, thirty eight points a game
something like that. You know, for us to hold them,
hold them out, nothing was really good, and you know,
offense got going. You know, our our numbers wasn't really
explosive on offense as far as the total amount of
yards and things, but we were giving short field lot
you know, so we scored when we got the ball,
(02:44):
so that was big.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Now, quarterback went out early in the game, came into
a care of business for us the way right.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
Yeah, I think Casey went out second series. JD came
in played really well, got us a I think it
was thirty nothing lead at halftime, and we sort of cruised,
you know the second half, you know, just sort of
ran the ball and made plays when we needed to,
and you know that was that was really good.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
It felt really good.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
We got a couple of turnovers in the first half
which helped, you know, so, uh, just you know, it
was a great win, great win to get to the
semi finals.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Any special names you want to bring up.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
We told all those guys played great. You know, all
those guys played great. You know, just just sets it
up for a big one this week.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Tell you what, they don't get any bigger.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
No, it's a great playing the state championship game.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
To No.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
No, that's if it was the championship, bigger that'd be.
Has it ever happened a championship? No open lock in
Auburn playing in the semifinals.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
No, it was in the quarterfinals last time. Never been
to semi finals first time. It's only the second time
the two of you have played in the playoffs. Okay,
that first time was an opla and went to the championship.
Second time be this game both of them was at
the duck and because this want to be at the
duck and never in the semi final, and never has
the winner gone to championship.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
So that is truly amazing.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
To know, this is a one hundred and one game
under the first game and the winners going to championship.
Can't lose with that, if you, if you somebody like me, coach,
I'm serious, you can't lose.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I mean, you know, well I went to school it
op like it.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
But I love you guys and the mayor and plenty
of friends in Auburn, So absolutely can't lose.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
You know about a little bit, Well, I.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
Think it's a huge game. You know, they've got a
great football team. Brian's done a great job over there.
You know, got stable of running backs, you know, little
quarterbacks playing good. They're good up front on both sides
of the ball. You know, Uh, they fly around on defense.
So you know we got to well, you know it's
going to be it's going to be one of them
over like all our games.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
You know, I think both teams have kind of changed
to the good since the first time you played.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Each other, Coach, I've watched all back and forth.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
Yeah, I think I think both teams got better and better. Uh,
and they're one of those teams, like like it's one
of them teams. They just have found ways to win games.
And we've kind of done the same thing. You know,
we've kind of done the same thing. But you know
it's just you know, you and to be in a
region like this and get to where we're at.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
So you got.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
To ask you this morning about how proud you were
about the region, and you mentioned that right there.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
Yeah, you know, this is the toughest regions that I
feel like this in Region Reagion two and Region three
are brutal. You know, I mean, and I said this,
you know it's a shame that you know, you play
that Bestavia Auburn game first restaurant. You know last year
we matched up with Thompson's second round. Yeah, you know,
it's tough, man, It's tough. The way the playoffs are done,
(05:33):
It's really tough. And you know, there is no real
easy answer to it, simply because you know, regardless of
what you do, you know you're you're going to get
some match ups like that.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
You know, it's tough.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
This is a different matchup than you played earlier with
Best Davia. Best Tavy got you in the earlier regular season.
You binge that loss, got the win. You beat up
like a fourteen seventeen ten at Bulldog Stadium in a
barn Burner. Ye, now you've got to flip play them again.
That's tough, Yeah it is, and win again. It's hard
to win again.
Speaker 5 (06:04):
It's hard to beat the team twice.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
In the year, especially.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
And what happens is you when you're when you have fifteen, sixteen,
seventeen year old kids, they get over confident. Sometimes coaches
do the same thing. You know, you get you know,
you get over confident. And I tell our people all
the time, you know, I used to it used to
be us in Piedmont a lot when I was in
three A and Piedmont was a really good team. And
a lot of times, whoever won that game in the playoffs,
(06:28):
you know, we always played each other and whip you
went into whoever won that game in the third fourth
round the playoffs usually would win the state championship.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
So me and me and Steve had some.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
Battles and you know, uh it was it was just
you know, they would they if we beat them, we'd
probably go go and win it. If they beat us,
they'd probably go and win it. So it's kind of
you know, you gotta if and and every time I think,
except for one, the team that won during the regular
(06:58):
season won in the playoffs about to uh, it's kind
of crazy. Yeah, but you know, like I said, the
one time we that it didn't happen. They beat US
fourteen thirteen to seven. So it was a really close game. Yeah,
and we had beat them pretty good during the season
and they beat us thirteen to seven during the playoffs.
(07:20):
Gave up one big play the whole game. You know,
it's it's a great football game.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah, you know, what if if if Myers can't play,
which yeah, I don't know what the decision is a game,
it's just a.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Big game time.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
Yeah, it's gonna see We're gonna see how Casom feels
and you know, you know he's and we have we
have confidence in both those guys.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Well what I was gonna say if he doesn't play,
and you have oh Peate and Cooper, Yes, two young
men didn't play in the first game.
Speaker 6 (07:47):
That's what No Noe and and quarterbacks, but they played
quarterback against each other.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
It's not amazing to me that it is.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
I'm just and both of them are players.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
They have to be a good athlete, they wouldn't be
out there. So I'm not criticized.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
I'm just good.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
It's just like a neat fact.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
It is that it is a neat fact. And we're
and we're getting to the semis. And both of those
guys have had their teams.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yea the victories, yes, yeah, on the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
It has played.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
And your young man, I keep wanting to call him Rob.
JD has played. JD has played.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
You know JD had to come in. What game was
that in the first quarter against against some uh thank you?
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Somebody asked me the other day he's played. I don't
remember the game.
Speaker 7 (08:25):
Try.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
I mean he had like one hundred and eighty seven
there your guards passing, and you know, fifty or sixty
yards rushing and like three or four touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
How you coach a game like you play it by
the best coach, You play it really close by the best.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
You just go out and roll it.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
No, I think you know, in the playoffs you don't
want to do anything to cost you what I figured him.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
A lot of times you'll take chances and stuff.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
But you know, in the regular season it's a lot
easier because you want to you want to see you
you know, you want to take those chances to try
to get the big play. And if you don't get
the big play. Hey, we'll punt it and we'll do it.
But you don't want to cost yourself six form.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
You don't make something you don't again.
Speaker 6 (09:02):
It's kind of it's kind of kind of crazy that
your your mentality changes in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
But it's always been good for It's always worked for me.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
You know.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
I think that, you know, in the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
You let your kids decide the game, you know, I
think the people who try to take all.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
Them chances and stuff.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
In the playoffs, a lot of times you're playing really
good teams and it.
Speaker 5 (09:23):
Don't work out.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Example, coach Carters scored first last week, could get central,
or two weeks ago came when they played him and
went front on the side.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Kick he had to, he had to, he could he
can't play total toe. I love coach Tim Carter. Now, yeah,
great guy runs a great overmatched like that's when they
were That's where I was getting at.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
That's when you take your chance to try to get on,
try to get a trick quickly at fourteen and go
well I'm up fourteen.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Yeah, then you put the pressure, then.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
You put the breckg Yeah. So I get that. When
this game, what you gotta docore more points.
Speaker 6 (09:53):
Yeah, you just can't turn them all over. And we
got to try to stop the run. You know they've
got two three really yeah, you know big guys. You
know that can that can really run the ball, and
you know we gotta we got to stop the run
and and find two and eighteen and make sure we
keep them in front. Four is a really good receiver too,
So you know, we got to find those guys. We
(10:14):
got to make sure that we keep them in front,
and we if they if they put it in the air,
we got to try to you know, get it. And
I'd like to score something on defense, ye.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Possible, good defense, I'll tell you what to you're both.
He's got good kickers too.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Yeah, we do a special town't know about. I can't
call my my opunters, That's what I'm saying, both sides.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
I can't.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Yeah, I think all right up, Yeah, our our punters
just got offered by Bandy there.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
You good for him, and see that put.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
And kick off in college. I don't know if you,
but he can kick Phil goals and stuff. He's got up,
he got a leg, he can kicking fifty five yarder.
You know, our our ninth grader hit a forty seven
yarder in the game, gets daphened the other night.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Oh that's huge.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Yeah, he's really good.
Speaker 6 (10:56):
He got leg and he's very accurate. I mean we're
playing a JV game. HiT's fifty six yards to beat
to beat Carver jav.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Been a good week so far.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
Been a great week. Yeah, been a great week for us.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Seven thousand of our closest friends.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, right on top of count of band another thousand
and me and everybody else another five hundreds.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I figure about eighty five.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
It's gonna be so nice, man, that's gonna be a
great atmosphere.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
It is great to see you, coach.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
Good luck, We love you man.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Sir Keiths the head coach of Marvin Tigers were Mose
Barbacue with three more coaches and four more coaches ago
Mose Barbecue High School Coaches.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Shall continues in a.
Speaker 8 (11:30):
Moment, welcome back here on the High School Coaches Show.
Van Rix jumping in for de Mark and Jeff, and
we're talking one of the other sides of the big
game on Friday night, Opalaikah, which we'll have the open
like a broadcast for you here on the Kicker coverage,
starting out at six o'clock with a Bulldog tailgate show.
Brian Moore, congratulations, another big win for the Bulldogs last
(11:53):
week and on one of the most dominating wins against
a really quality opponent this season.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
From starting to finish. Really, you guys were in control.
Speaker 9 (12:01):
Yeah, we certainly played better, you know, kind of you know, uh,
peaking at the right time. I think, you know, hopefully
that continues, but guys are playing better. You know, got
those pieces we've talked about back, you know, really since
Carver and uh, you know, now getting some continuity between
the group obviously with you know, is playing well, playing
his best football right now and getting comfortable.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
So yeah, it was a good night.
Speaker 9 (12:22):
You know, I thought we could have pushed the game
out earlier, you know, had an opportunity to just couldn't
quite do it. But it was great to see us
come out in the third quarter and really you know, press,
put our foot on the gas, have some explosives, get some.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Three and outs.
Speaker 9 (12:34):
Then they had five three and outs in the game,
which makes a difference to get the ball back quickly.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
We were won the field position game.
Speaker 9 (12:39):
We're able to kind of put some pressure on them
and and really finished that game late in the third
and then get some young guys in the game, which
was really good to see man playoff experience.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
We were able to do it last year or Florence.
Speaker 9 (12:48):
That matters, you know, as as guys step up in
in their time and their numbers being called the following year.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
It's it's big, so good win for us.
Speaker 9 (12:55):
Incredible atmosphere with our with our fans and the blackout
and just appreciated it of everybody that you know was
involved with that and all of our administration helping get
that done and get those shirts passed out, with passed
out fifteen hundred shirts at the gate and we hope
that everybody will wear them again Friday night.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (13:11):
And this team, you know, they this is the you
held them out of the end zone for the first
time this season. This was a team that was averaging
oh gosh, thirty five forty points a game. Talk about
the job your defense has been doing the past few weeks.
Speaker 9 (13:24):
Absolutely, yeah, I mean, just the best at being connected
in the back end and communicating and not giving up
big plays. I mean, just really excited to see we
moved Jamail Griffin back to play free safety and then
Antonius Peters is playing week, and so it's been been
kind of you know, all over and we slid Xavier
Thomas down to play strong safety. You know, we're kind
of really getting to fit and tackle and which is
what he wants to do, and so really continuing to
(13:46):
try to find the best pieces. But we got a
lot of cable guys. Leland bail back there.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
You know.
Speaker 9 (13:50):
Obviously Jay Battle and Bradon have done a really good job,
but they kept the lid on the defense on a
really good quarterback, didn't give up those explosives. They did
drive it, you know a little, but struggled in the
red zone, which is something that you know when you
when you have a hard time running it and you're
able to stop the run, it makes a difference. And
so when the field shrunk on them, you know, we're
able to get some stops and for some field goals.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
So good to see there.
Speaker 8 (14:09):
Had a lot of balls hit those defenders in the
hands too, so close to taking some.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Back earlier in the game.
Speaker 9 (14:14):
You know, Jamil had had a look early that could
have been a pick six. You know, with his speed,
it is going to be a pick six. So you know, hopefully,
you know, we'll make those plays, but the Q sip
and that thing around, you know, and that that's stuff
to get sometimes. So but it's good to be in
those positions though and get our hands on the football.
And we were supposed to be really really good night
for our dbs.
Speaker 8 (14:32):
Playing Auburn on Friday night a rivalry. You know, you
can go in all the sick one six in a row.
It's the one hundred and first meeting. But it's just
a good football team that you're going to play on
Friday night. You've already faced them earlier in the year.
But I think you know, they're different, we're different at
Opalaika and talk about playing somebody for the second time
and then the difficulties, I guess that goes into that.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yeah, it's a different world.
Speaker 9 (14:54):
I mean, you know, when you know, first off, they
are a really good team and they have improved. I mean,
they're better than we were. They were we played on
the first time.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
But so were we. I mean we've improved as well.
Speaker 9 (15:03):
Obviously a lot of new faces early in the year
for us that have grown up, you know, and now
play twelve ball games, and so I mean, you know,
that is. It was a it was a tumultuous beginning
for our season, you know, a resilient bunch. You know,
you think about the Callaway game and some of those
games we had to kind of rise up and play it.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Even the Auburn game.
Speaker 9 (15:20):
I mean, we played a lot better late in that ballgame,
had some drives. C. J.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Johnson got going.
Speaker 9 (15:25):
You know, we found ourselves there a little bit and
our identity and you know, again we've we've continued to
grow and improve with some bumps along the way.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
But it was good to see. But it is it is.
Speaker 9 (15:36):
You know, it's tough to play a team twice, especially
a really good one, because you know they're gonna you know,
any anytime you're watching the film of yourself playing upon,
it's just a different I mean I went through multiple
multiple times and watch this game over and over and
over again to try and just figure out, you know,
the matchups, and it's about executing. You know, you're not
going out smart each other unnecessarily, and so we'll have
(15:56):
to do a great job of executing the plays and
executing our doing our job within the scheme, and so
you know, but you know, we have experience doing it
you know, we did this that the you know twenty
twelve run. We went through Carver and Auburn and played
Hoover again. So three of the teams we've played in
the regular season we played again. And so you know,
I learned a lot from Coach Blackman in those moments
and how to approach those games. And you know, learn
(16:18):
you know, from yourself and your mistakes, and so you know,
hopefully that'll pay off.
Speaker 8 (16:22):
Yeah, And no better gauge of how a player goes
up against another player than watching them how they went
against each other on film and know, if hey, this
tackle can't block that guard or this guard can't block
that tackle, how do we shuffle things around? You know,
and and they're looking at the same thing.
Speaker 9 (16:36):
Well, because film is so deceiving, you know, when you
play other people, it's really hard to tell, you know.
And so you're right, I mean, the comparison and being
able to see really it really makes a difference.
Speaker 8 (16:46):
I think talking to coach Brian Moore, Opalaika travels over
to face Auburn and the semi finals coming up on
Friday night. Coach tickets sold out twice this week, sold
out Saturday, and sold out earlier this week. And you know,
the thing I don't think a lot of people understand is,
you know, but I could have bought six thousand tickets
on Saturday, and you just don't know to you show
up on Friday night, you know how the crowd will
(17:07):
be divided. You Knowlika did a good job getting tickets,
I know on Saturday. So it'll be a like it's
always probably all even up and split it both ways,
but it's gonna be kind of a half and half
almost like a neutral site, but ballgame field.
Speaker 9 (17:20):
Yeah, I mean, you know, our people did a great
job of publicizing the tickets. You know, I think, you know, again,
like you said, you'll see Friday, but we really tried
to spread the information, you know, and I would say
that most of my parents were able to get them.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
You know.
Speaker 9 (17:32):
I've had a couple of calls, you know about tickets
and then they reopened what was it last.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Night or whatever, and so you know that in three minutes,
and we pushed that information right back out, you know.
Speaker 9 (17:43):
But it's an incredible environment, you know, and playing in
there in this game, I think this is I don't
know twelve or thirteen for me or whatever.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Over the years.
Speaker 9 (17:50):
I mean, it's a great environment both in Bulldog Stadium
in there and you know, and we're excited again. I
could not pick a better place to play on the road,
you know, I mean, just as far as being used
to it, you know, I mean I asked my guys
the other day in a meeting, I said, how many
of you played here three, four or five times? And
there were lots of hands up, you know, from night
to JV to seventh eighth grade, playing them, you know,
(18:11):
two times last year and night.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
I mean, just you play them a lot and you
get used.
Speaker 9 (18:14):
To that atmosphere and you know, it doesn't make it
any easier, but you are comfortable in the locker room
and you know what to expect, and I think that
helps the kids.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
There's a lot of questions.
Speaker 8 (18:22):
Everybody's talking about the quarterback situation at Auburn, but they're
backup quarterback. Who's their back up now?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
JD.
Speaker 8 (18:28):
Hey, he played middle school against wit so they've kind
of grown up together faced off against each other. So
you know, I know there's a lot of knowledge about
about that quarterback too well.
Speaker 9 (18:37):
He played the end of the doth In game and
played all the Daphne game, right, and so but now
I mean they'll they'll find they'll be healthy, and uh,
you know that's the way we have to go in
and approach it. And you know, and hopefully all of
our guys are healthy. You know, we've had our own
you know, struggles there. So but really think going back
to the first meeting at Auburn, you were beat up.
That was first two those two games of the season
against Beniam, Rustling Callaway.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
There are two physical games going.
Speaker 8 (18:59):
In of the Auburn game. A lot of guys were
banged up, Blake Johnson being one of them too, I know.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
Right, and searching at quarterback.
Speaker 9 (19:04):
You know, Fuller came in and fought his guts out
for us that night, you know, and played so hard.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
But you know there were a lot I mean, Fuller didn't.
Speaker 9 (19:11):
Know you're starting until late in the week, right, you know,
we still did not know you know, kind of where
that would be until really game day, I mean, how
things would check out. And so for us to have
you know a lot of reps now and information and
that sort of thing about ourselves, you know, it really
has made a difference again with our growth over the
last few weeks.
Speaker 8 (19:28):
All right, Well, kickoff is seven o'clock Friday night. Hopefully
have a ticket. If nine, of course, you can listen
on the Chicker NFHS network. Make sure and click the
opal like a broadcast. So we two people always get confused.
My parents are the world's worth on the NFHES trying
to find the game. But anyway, Opal like a published
by Opalika. Let's relicked that one. Or listen to us
on the Kicker. Coach good luck Friday night, looking forward
to it.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
Thanks Maan, go dogs. All right, So p like.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Coach prior more will continue with more of the High
School Coaches Show coming up on the way next live
at Mose Barbecue here on the.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Kicker, and good afternoon, Welcome again back to the High
School Coaching.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Show at Mose Barbecue.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
We are here at Big Creek and Auburn out of
by my we have been here for about I figure
fourteen weeks now, it's just no, fifteen weeks.
Speaker 10 (20:12):
Wasn't it the twentieth or twenty first of August?
Speaker 11 (20:14):
One?
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Yeah, that's right, that's right. So you do the math.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
I say fifteen weeks, I'm gonna say fifteen.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
There's eleven.
Speaker 10 (20:21):
I research that.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Here's the I say no, there's.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Eleven weeks of football and we're in the third playoffs,
so this will be week fourteen. Okay, sounds good. I
said fifteen.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
So I was close.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
I said fourteen then anyway close enough. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
There's five programs with us that have been with us
all year. Oh like Auburn, Chambers, Bullock County and Lonette,
all playing football. They'll all be with us tonight, all
with us, and we're glad to have them all.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
We've already spoke to a couple of them.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Now we're gonna turn our attention to a team that
plays for the championship tomorrow night at Crampton Bowl of
Montgomerys Chambers Academy Revels. Jason Allen is live via the
telephone on the sales service because on the Hamilton's Hotline,
Jason had a big steak dinner that he didn't invite
us to.
Speaker 10 (21:04):
Jeff, But yeah, I know, man, what you say we
could have done. We could have done the show up there.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
I know, I know. I mean we said, yeah, we
could have right coach out and good evening coach.
Speaker 7 (21:16):
We could have you guys are good duck. I'll be
glad to think. You just let me know.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
When we're good.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Coach, Hey, congratulation on getting back to that championship game.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
Good win last week, coach, thank you.
Speaker 7 (21:27):
You know are y'all talking about you know, uh, just
stud like yesterday. We started this deal back in the
summer or and now we're at the end of it.
The longer your coach, and I guess the longer you're
a live life, just things to go buy a little faster.
So here we are at the end of it.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
It really does go by fast. There's no doubt about it.
You are at the end of it tomorrow night, last game.
How does that feel?
Speaker 7 (21:53):
It feels great, you know. I mean, that's the goal
to play, to play as many weeks as you can,
and then your goal is to win that last one,
which that's the only way everybody's really happy is if
you can win the last game to play. And that
don't always happen every year. So you know, we're excited
to play for that opportunity. And I know we've been
(22:13):
in the championship game a lot, and we've been fortunate
and blessed, and you know, we got a great senior
class that's ending up their careers. They practiced for the
last time. Today. We toted the seniors off the field
and you know, they they they're excited about the opportunity
to continue and it is just to establish the legacy
(22:34):
that they started.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Yeah, very good.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Jason Allen with his Chambers Academy Big football game tomorrow night,
Crampton Bowl in Montgomery.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Three peat.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
I heard you talking about that early in the year.
You like that term three.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Pet from the bulls, got a chance and you are
here for a three peat coach?
Speaker 3 (22:49):
How about that?
Speaker 7 (22:50):
Yeah, well we're here. We're here where we wanted to be.
And you know, you talk about that all year, but
you can't get to it till the end. So I mean,
it's a week and the week deal. And so if
you if you don't play for if you don't have
that opportunity. And uh, you know, our kids have worked
really hard this year and they believe in what we're doing,
and just we got a great group of kids, so
(23:11):
we don't have to worry about them showing up ready
to practice and get better. And it's just been really
a joy for me. I have to pinch myself sometimes
to realize how blessed I am to have the kind
of kids with that.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
You know what I.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
Felt, I'm kind of remiss and I didn't talk about this.
Give me somebody that played well for you last week, coach,
did We jumped right into tomorrow night and really didn't
even recap last week.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Who played well? I know it was a big victory.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Don't want to leave anybody's name out, coach, that you
want to mention, so go ahead and do that right now.
Speaker 7 (23:39):
Well, we got a running back named Peyton Yerda never.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Heard of never heard of him never.
Speaker 7 (23:45):
And he's built a lot like the running back that
was at Arizona State that that New York John's now
Scatterboo scataboo Jack. You know. He he's just he's about
five nine, about one ninety five strong as a op.
He's not gonna just run away from everybody, but he
is tough to tackle. It's like a little bowling ball.
(24:07):
And he's got fifteen hundred plus yards on the year
and just has had a great senior year, coming back
from a broken leg late in his sophomore year. He
wasn't able to play his junior year and just he's
been He just had a phenomenal year for us and
really ran that he's really led the way as far
(24:28):
as us running the football this year.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
And I want to make sure everybody knows I was
joking when I said I've not heard of his name.
We talk about him every week, so that was certainly
hits yoke. But I know, you know, man, I've watched
him play.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
You know, it's kind of unique. Coach.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
I saw this game the first game, the first time
you played Lombs, Jeff, and I went and watched you play,
and here you are back again in that championship game.
Speaker 7 (24:49):
Yep. And you know I've said before I do not
like to play people twice. And I don't know of
any coaches to do, because, especially if you're the winning team,
it feels like you've got more pressure on you. You know,
you got to do what made you successful. But that
that losing team they could throw some stuff away, you know,
and say, well this didn't work, we're gonna try this approach.
(25:11):
So you know, it's it's a game of adjustments. And uh,
the guy that's at Lowns has been coaching thirty plus years,
so he's a really good football coach and he'll he'll
make some sound adjustments and uh, we'll have our work
cut out for it was only eight to nothing game
at halftime.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
It was.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Because it was a close but if you were there,
you knew it really wasn't ate nothing game, if that
can make sense.
Speaker 7 (25:37):
Yeah, we we had some unfortunate uh mistakes. We turned
the football over a couple.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Of times and you know, not trying to We didn't.
Speaker 7 (25:49):
We didn't uh we didn't miss the field goal, but
we got we ran, We got down to the six
yard line the first play the game, and then we
ended up snapping.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
That was it.
Speaker 7 (25:58):
Yeah, quarterbacks head.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
And I'm sorry, coach. I see so many games. I
just remember there was a chance you had to score
when you didn't get it that time, I get it.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Yeah, I get it.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
But now I do believe they were ranked number one
when you played them that game too.
Speaker 7 (26:10):
That's absolutely correct. And they've won one. They've lost one
ball game since then. But they were a little beat
up at the time and had some players out, and
they got a premiere running back and I don't think
they ran him deer against us that they're probably going
through tomorrow night. It's just trying to keep them healthy,
you know. But you get to this last game, you
got to you gotta shoot all your marbles, you.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Know what, coach, I didn't know that when you played them.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
How do you what do you do to you guys?
You already beat them. You played and we talked about this.
It was a close game early the final. I don't
have it in front of me. It went on out
pretty good. I think I was gonna said thirty, but
you know it went away in the second half. But
what do you tell you guys, coach with when you
go back play a team like that and you beat
(26:58):
them good, you know that that much. How do you
get their attention? Say, hey, they can beat us this time.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Now, I know it's happened to you in the past,
but how do you get their attention?
Speaker 7 (27:08):
Well, hopefully you don't have to in the championship game.
You know, I think our kids understood that they're very
they play that team plays very hard, and we ended
up getting three interceptions and a fumble against those guys,
so four turnovers, and you know, if they don't do
those and if they catch you point out, if they
catch this fall here or catch that ball there, then
(27:28):
you know it's possibly a different ball game. So we
got a lot of older kids that play for a
long time, and I don't think we'll have that problem.
I know our kids are gonna come out small, breathing
fire and just ready to play.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Oh, I know that.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Are you healthy, coach?
Speaker 7 (27:45):
We are healthy. We are healthy. We've been fortunate to
be healthy this late in the year, and uh, you know,
knock on wood, maybe we can go one more game
and stay healthy.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Tell me what you are going to do. What have
you got to do to win the game.
Speaker 7 (27:59):
Well, you know, my philosophy to run football game is
it's pretty simple to Mark, And you know, first thing
is we got to play as a team. Uh, and
we've done that all year. Our kids understand the roles
of The second thing is we can't turn the ball over.
And the third thing is we've got to be the
most physical football team on the field tomorrow night. And
I think that wins football games.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
You think your team can do that, coach, I know
they can. You think they can.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
We are physical, one one of my more physical teams.
So you know, you know, I'm just excited and enjoy
to coach these guys, Demark, And sometimes you just get
their coaching and sometimes you just enjoy watching your kids play.
And that's hard to do as a coach. But you know,
I enjoy watching these kids because they play the game
the right way. They love contact. You know, they play
(28:49):
for each other and they just love the game. You
can see it in the passion by how they play
and the way they celebrate with each other, not not
in not selfishly, but we of each other. And uh,
it's just been a Jordia coach. He's got a special group.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
Well, I know that is funny. Got to get Jeff.
Speaker 10 (29:08):
You've done it all season and lost your quarterback like the.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
First game, coach, wasn't it?
Speaker 7 (29:16):
He never played.
Speaker 10 (29:18):
Real quick lowness.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Who's your coach?
Speaker 10 (29:21):
What's his name?
Speaker 7 (29:22):
H his name is Speed sampley.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
Sample or Tapley? Yeah, because he talked to you.
Speaker 7 (29:27):
Yeah, his real name is James, but everybody calls him speed.
Speaker 10 (29:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (29:30):
He played football for Coach Died back in the eighties
at Auburn as a walk on, and then he coached
at Lowndes Academy and was very successful there, following Mac
Champion at at Lowndes Academy, everybody, I think knows who
Mac Champion was. And then he went to Fort Dale,
uh in Greenville for twenty five years and they just
hired him back. That's at back where he started at
(29:53):
Lowndes again.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
So got it.
Speaker 7 (29:55):
He's come full circle.
Speaker 10 (29:56):
Yeah, well we talked to him before the game.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
He knows not Yeah. Yeah, he's a great guy. But yeah,
he loves to win. He loves competing. Hey, he's gonna
throw everything. But the kid you think at us.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Yeah, he will coach. You're right about that, y'all. Have
a good night tonight.
Speaker 7 (30:18):
We did. We did. It was very good. And I
sent the guys home and told him they need to
get into bed. I'm tired these kind of weeks that
when you play for a championship, you can get really emotional.
I think you can kind of wear you out. So
I think it's important to get good rest and good hydration.
You know, even when the temperature is a cooler.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
There you go, big day tomorrow. What's the what's the itinerary?
Speaker 4 (30:39):
Coach?
Speaker 3 (30:39):
What time you go to the bowl? Probably aren't you?
Speaker 7 (30:43):
Yeah, we whire kids like to go sit in the
stadium and watch that game before so about halftime, so
we'll go down. We have a called rebel walk at
the school when we walked through the hallways and all
the students will cheer our kids, owners and a lot
of parents as well, and then we'll head on down
and get there around three o'clock and then we'll have
we'll have we do we almost do a tailgate there
(31:06):
at the ball game instead of going to sitting down
in a restaurant. I'm not big fan of that, So
we'll have food there over at Patterson Field and we
get off the bus and the kids will snack and eat,
and then we'll walk over and watch some football and
then we'll start getting ready to get in our regular routine.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
That sounds awesome, Coach, I'll tell you what, been there,
done that. That's a man who's been there and done that.
We are awful happy for you.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
We appreciate you taking time tonight to be with us
on the show. Coach. We're very proud you've been with
us every week. And best of luck to your team.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Tomorrning, doing our best to get there tomorronight and bring
in a row.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yes, sir, you got a coach.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Jason Allen Chambers Academy. They play tomorrow night against Lowns
Montgomery's Crampton Bowl under the big lights, seven bells, I
say three and a championship.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
We'll be back. We've got Jeremy Vines and r. J.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
McDonald Bullet County and Lynnette coming your way on.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
The Coaching Show for MOS.

Speaker 3 (32:38):

programs right there, and we're glad to have the net.
Coach r J.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
McDonald in the house at Moles. Congratulations on your thirty
four to fourteen went over Arrington in the second round.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
Coach McDonald, it's good to see you. Yeah, man, good
to see you. D Mark.
Speaker 11 (32:54):
Glad to be back. It's always good to be back
here on a Wednesday night.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
And then there were five It is good to see
you too, good to see that smile thirty four to fourteen.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Tell us about that went over.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
Air toon and who played Well, yeah, man, really good night. Yeah,
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 11 (33:09):
It was a really good first half ball game. And
Averryton's shot just shout out real quick to Ayrton. Man
that that that group of fans. Man, they traveled so well.
And you know that's a great traditional power football team.
And coach Kilcrees does a does a great job. He's
a great man too, he's a superman. But you know,
(33:32):
we got off to a really good start. Well, it
was kind of back and forth a little bit, you know,
had both teams had three and outs to start the
ball game, and then we went down. We ran the
ball right now and scored on the second drive of
the game. And and Darius Morgan had a terrific ball game.
He had a I mean, just an outstanding game. He
had twenty two carries for two hundred and seven yards
for three touchdowns and just dominated all night. But then
(33:55):
you know, we just kept doing it defensively, We held
our own. We were inside of our forty you know,
the forty going in for them multiple times. We had
four out of five stops within there, which was really impressive,
and most of those were inside the red zone, so
that that's even tougher, you know, but we we stopped
(34:16):
them four out of five times, and they were inside
the red zone, you know, twenty five yard line are
in and so for us that was big, you know,
I think that was the deal of the game there.
We didn't put our defense in really good spots special
teams wise, and that's really on me. I got a
I've got to be better on that, you know, with
certain situations and having us do certain things. But once
(34:36):
we got it figured out and we started to swip
the ball, there really wasn't much kickoff, you know, remaining
in the game. You know, we ran the ball extremely well.
We had a really good passing attack. It was efficient.
Fred Broughton had two touchdown passes, one to r J.
Tucker that was just a spectacular catch and then another
one to Darrell Stable was on a one on one
ball that he just won.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
And so it was just a really good night for us.
Speaker 11 (34:58):
We threw for about one hundred and fifty five yards
and ran for almost three hundreds so long.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
You know, we just dominated up front.
Speaker 11 (35:05):
Yeah, we just dominated up front, you know, and you
didn't have to throw much. Well, you know, it was
about it was about two seventy five.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
I know you do.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
I'm just saying that's good.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Yeah for us. I mean, that was just really good.
You know.
Speaker 11 (35:16):
The Darius had a great night for us back there
and total that rock.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
You know. So we try not to We try to.
Speaker 11 (35:21):
Give out a lot of our carriers to our guys,
you know, and spread them out. But when the train's running,
you just get off the track, you know, and we
let him go. And so he he just dominated. It's
just what he's done in the big games. You know,
like you go back to real time. You look up,
he's got twenty four carries for one seventy five, and
you know, then you go to sorry, you go back
to you know, even back to Bullet County he had
(35:42):
one hundred and forty you know, and it's just one
of those words here too, by the ways, Yeah, there
you go. It's just and then you go to Handley.
He's got two touchdown runs and almost ninety yards against
one of the best defenses and.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Then they were here last week. I mean not here,
but they were playing last.
Speaker 11 (35:54):
Week and they ran up against a bus. So but
you know, go back to that though. The level of
play for that guy and just the old line in general. Man,
the level of play for those guys in the big
games is what's rising to the top. And then you
turn around and look on the defense side of the football.
Our defensive front was just dominant. The I mean they.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Pretty yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Your line.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
He's a defensive end.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
He's pretty sporty.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Yeah, he's six three to jeremih mcgilberty.
Speaker 11 (36:22):
He's going to Alabama A and m UH to play
defensive end. And you know, they love the guy. He's
had multiple D one offers and he just loved it
up there. You know, it's just one of them places
that he just fell in love with. And we got
a lot of connections up there with players that are there,
former players, and so anyway, he's he's a heck of
a football player. And I tell you one thing, man,
his stats are real, Like you can check tape. I'll
(36:43):
let anybody look at it, and I've seen so he's
a he's an absolute stud.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (36:48):
And then you look at the whole defensive front, Brotherland Chambers,
Trey Jackson, Nadarius Morgan at the other defensive end spot.
They just it was just a dominant performance by those
guys up front and then our back end.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Man.
Speaker 11 (36:59):
Uh, they amen averaging well over two hundred and fifty
yards passing and we held them to one hundred and one.
And so I think that's a really really tell tale
sign for us that we're a complete defense now. And
you know, I think, you know, just going forward, we
just got to continue to do what we do and
stay locked into the mission and not get out of
our spots and just be where were coached to be.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
All Right, you got one of the the number one
offensive team in Alabama fifty five games.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
This is this. I want to go over this now.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Okay, you haven't allowed one hundred points total. Okay, you
have not allowed a hundred points total. They have scored
a whopping up. They just went a way hold on
in their games. They have scored six hundred and fifty
three points and has only allowed one hundred and three.
This ought to be a show enough goodie offense versus defense,
but they've got a good defense. They've scored fifty six
(37:52):
seventy five, sixty eight, sixty four, forty eight, sixty sixty one,
fifty six, fifty four, thirty two fifty but last week
twenty nine over g w do what do you do?
Speaker 4 (38:02):
Coach?
Speaker 11 (38:02):
Yeah, man, we gotta uh you know, we gotta read
our keys. We got to be smart. We gotta stay
really locked in. And when I say that, we got
to be in our gaps gap control.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Uh, we can't get too caught up in the eye candy.
You know what they do.
Speaker 11 (38:16):
They run the single wing like they don't like, no,
not really, I mean they throw it, but when I
mean when they throw it now it's efficient. Probably they
run the single wing they do, and when they also
run the old wing t uh three back t you
kind of like a box right, so like uh, and
(38:38):
and they just do what they do.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
You know, they're pretty big up front, but they are
you know, they're there.
Speaker 11 (38:43):
I would say they probably you know, very comparable to
what we've seen from you know, different schools real time.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Mean that.
Speaker 11 (38:52):
Yeah, so like you know, but you know they're running back.
They got a really special player man, and they line
them up everywhere.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
Number one. He's he's a town to football player man.
Speaker 11 (39:01):
Arguably, in my opinion, the best athlete we've seen on
film and all year. And so he's he's specially they
give it to him in any way they can.
Speaker 4 (39:11):
And the quarterback been there forever.
Speaker 11 (39:13):
He's a big kid, real physical, you could tell he's
like a he's a leader and he's there. They're the
guy that leads the troops, right, and so he's about
six foot about two ten, so really good sized football player.
They got some really good tight ends right now. They're
throwing at a clip of about when they do throw it,
it's about a fifty percent every other pass that's for
(39:35):
a touchdown type of ratio. You know, they don't throw
it much, but when they do count, it's for a
big play. And so we've got to do a really
good job of just staying where we're supposed to be,
you know, don't get caught up too much in a
lot of the height, you know, and the hostel. It's
gonna be a hostile environment and we're gonna have to
really handle.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
I don't even think I said that little I talked
about their offense, but.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
That are listening.
Speaker 11 (40:00):
And for us, you know, I think defensively, we've got
to just be sound.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
I mean, it's just you don't do what you do.
Speaker 11 (40:06):
If we can align, you know, properly, we can line
up well, then we feel like we could stop anybody.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
We've got to line up Keith the.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
Ball, play keep away, coach man? Or can you score?
Speaker 4 (40:19):
Man? I'll tell you what you know. I that's a
that's a good question. You know.
Speaker 11 (40:22):
You look at the statistical stuff and you're like, man,
they score a lot, they don't they don't give up much.
But then you know, you've got to be confident in
your own boys too, you know. And so like for me,
you've played a big boy schedule. Now, I don't mean
that your team's sitting here in this in this seventy
seventy our games have been running clock. So I'm not
just saying this just to be cocky or nothing. But
(40:43):
we can put up some high No. No, yeah, I
know absolutely, But I know what he's saying. They played
a lot of teams, but they have.
Speaker 10 (40:51):
Not played No.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
I'm with you on that.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
I'm just making sure I yeah, yeah, absolutely, I'm just
asking the right questions I need to ask.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
No.
Speaker 11 (41:00):
Yeah, And I tell you this another thing too, is
for us, you know, we've got to when we get
our opportunities, we've got to capitalize on them. We got
to take shots, and when we get them, we gotta
take you know, take them and hit them. And so,
you know, I think our guys are ready for the moment,
you know. And and something I've said all year, we're
really a loose group.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
You know.
Speaker 11 (41:18):
We play really you know, when you watch us, we're
really disciplined, you know, and that's that's a really good
product to have. But man, these guys, they're just real
loose like you know. And and I think that's something
that kind of by this environment. You know, we've been
to the Handley's, we've been to the real towns like
we've been to those, you know, and these guys have
(41:39):
played in some of those. And I tell you what though,
Everython is a great football team, you know, so they've
seen good football. We just we've gotta we've got to
get out here and just do what we do and
worry about Lenette.
Speaker 5 (41:51):
I know, I say it every week.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
You're not giving up. You've give up. That points in
them too, by the way I said that. Start with,
Look they play.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Now, oh yeah, they don't have a hand, they don't
have a hand the county in.
Speaker 10 (42:01):
Real town on their schedule.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
So I'm just gonna say and I'm gonna say this too,
Lorch poking pretty dog on good football team to the
play all all right. So there's some other ones on Ramber,
there's some other ones on here that that. And then
of course you had to Chaplin the first one. You're healthy, coach, Yeah, yeah,
really healthy. Getting everybody back, got one guy out, you.
Speaker 11 (42:18):
Know, it should be back next week. So everybody's everybody's
back back healthy and good, good deal. You know, we're
we're ready to ready to get down there and get go.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
Tell us about tomorrow and the game day Friday.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
What he got?
Speaker 11 (42:29):
Yeah, yeah, I gotta you know, just gotta walk through
the bar, Gotta put that saying man the haze in
the barn.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
Man.
Speaker 11 (42:34):
Just gotta go polish it up, you know, and uh
tie it on up and throw it up there into
the to the loft, you know. And so for us,
it's just uh, you know, make sure we're good, and
make sure we're we're locked into the mission. Uh know
your keys, you know, and then Friday we're gonna get
up out of there and we're gonna take a stop
down to album state, you know, go through there and
do a little walk through, get them off the bus
(42:55):
for a little while and let him move around, and
uh then we're gonna go eat and get on down
in there.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
All right, let's see, coach, I was trying to fill
it real quick. When was the last time y'all have
been in the third round?
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Uh? Twenty one?
Speaker 3 (43:05):
I knew it had been a while.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Yeah, I while, Yeah, I didn't know that, well I did.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
I was gonna brag on and I knew it had
been a while. Yeah, twenty one, yep, so been a while, coach.
We're proud of you. I appreciate you doing, sir, good
to you and then Panthers. Yeah, man, I appreciate what
you and Jeff do and all year. And I hope
see you back.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Absolutely, man.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
We want to be we want to have another one
Thanksgiving week somewhere somehow. All right, let that on the
road Friday night. It will be a good one. Lou
Burne is where their head and we need to pull
them Panthers through one more bullet County. They'll be back
when we come. They will be here when we come
back to Moe's Barbecue. High School coach Joe continues, We
(43:45):
are at Moe's Barbecue about to wrap up the high
school Coaches Show.
Speaker 3 (43:48):
Jeffrey Craig band Jason or with us.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Don't forget BULLETOF football Friday night Auburn High opal like
a bullet all day right here on the Kicker airtime
six for all the coverage wall Wall covers starting with
ookl like Environmental Services tailgate show, the Bulldoll Tailgate Show
at six o'clock, kick off at seven ban I take
it over right there and there'll be wallacall covered with
Jason McKy crack all on the radio. And in Friday
(44:13):
night the Encore Rehab Scoreboard Show, and then Saturday morning
the Orthopedic Clinton Recap Show. So wall to wall high
school coverage from on the Mark in the morning to
the coaching show here Wednesday in our Bulledoll games, the
scoreboard show and the recap show.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Jeremy Vine is the head coach at Bullock County.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
They are having a year they've never had before their
breaking history. Never in the history of the school.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Have they won a playoff game. They did that. Never
in the history of the school have they advanced of.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
The second round. They checked that box and here they
are in the third round. Jeremy Vines is the head coach,
and it's.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Good to see you, coach.
Speaker 4 (44:46):
Good to see I too. Thank you for the innybody man.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Congratulations on another victory, twenty one to nothing over Mobile
Christian Jeff A team that won the ship not too
long ago.
Speaker 10 (44:57):
Yeah, had was it glazing it?
Speaker 3 (45:00):
No, that'd be oh good, buddy, mister.
Speaker 10 (45:05):
He told us he wasn't very good now.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
Yeah, anyway, coach, good game last.
Speaker 4 (45:09):
Week, Yes, sir, thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
Man, Ronnie, tell me a little bit about the game, coach.
Speaker 4 (45:15):
Last Friday game.
Speaker 12 (45:16):
Yep, man that had a really good offense, really good
running back on number two man, he was a outstanding
running back man.
Speaker 4 (45:22):
He'd been averaging about one fifty per game.
Speaker 12 (45:24):
And last Friday night the defensive answer to answer the
bell and we into on the sister sixty five rushing yard.
Had a great old line, nice skilled guys who just
our kids were locked end. They can't they can't ready
to play the coaches and put a great game plan together.
And I just thank god for the good point we
had last Friday night.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Twenty one points scored. Coach, tell me who played well
for you on.
Speaker 12 (45:45):
The offensive side too, oh Man quarterback Tay Wallach got
back to himself. He had fifteen cares for one hundred
and ninety yards. And then we got a sophomore running back,
defensive end Gedori in fact, Matt he had I think
seven carris by eighty five ninety yards. And then it
was an overall team man. An old line blocked their
butts o man. So the old line quarterback running back
(46:06):
did a good job again us that way. That's Friday night.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Saint Michael Cassick undefeated. He got him this Friday night
at their place. Guess her, you've never been there. I've
never been there.
Speaker 4 (46:16):
I've never been that know, sir, your team probably never
has been there, so that's probably a good thing, you know.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Yeah, yeah, you've probably been the fairhope I've been. I've been.
Speaker 4 (46:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:26):
Yeah, I've never been to the school. Yes, yeah, tell
me about what you're seeing them. Coach undefeated.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
They got a good they're coming off two wins over
Pike County forty nine to twenty one and last week
Pleasant Grove forty one seven.
Speaker 4 (46:36):
Sam Michael is a really good football team.
Speaker 12 (46:38):
Of course, they're coach by Philip Rivers and his son,
Gunn and Rivers a quarterback. They got big old lion senior,
their old line quarterback. He's a junkman. And they got
a really good running back at Noah Monse he's a
seniors where I think committed to South Teadama. So we
gotta slow lower down and we got a pass tack.
Speaker 4 (46:54):
Now.
Speaker 12 (46:54):
Defensively, we got to wrap up play really gapside the
defensive line and the sign of attack all even had
to the football and the secondary got to hold their
own in the pass the game. Officially, we see some
thing we can attack on the defense, but you got
to make sure we keep the ball in positive territory.
Don't get behind the stitch and do the best you
can to keep Philip Rivers and his son on the
(47:15):
side line on Friday.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
Ball control coach.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
Yes, sir, down, is that what you're gonna do. That's
a key to the victory, sir, slow it down.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Take a stat with one second on the play. Clok,
is that to the form you're doing it?
Speaker 4 (47:26):
Yeah? No, no, not one second, but close it close.
The Femily will play call yet.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
Yeah you gotta play keep away?
Speaker 4 (47:32):
Yeah, got they keep away. So we're gonna try to
keep it away from Friday.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
When I saw them beat Jackson, I knew it was real.
Speaker 10 (47:38):
Then coach tell me they was Rember. Coach were walking
in practice and walk.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
In the warm up still he said, we're gonna slow
it up so much walking warm ups, you know, And
so it was that's.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
You need to slow the game up from them because
they do throw it. They throw it more than anybody.
You probably played it.
Speaker 4 (47:55):
I mean, no face, they throw it around the yall.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
You're right, I forgot to Michael.
Speaker 4 (48:00):
Is the most ballad team we have faced all year.
Speaker 12 (48:03):
Really, if they have a fit to play on all fens,
they might be thirty twenty you know what I'm saying,
twenty five twenty five depending on how the game flowing.
So they were a balanced team, like I said, got
to read our keys and be able to play a linement,
the sign, the tap football and be very physical.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
Disco. How have you.
Speaker 3 (48:17):
How's your team's practice this week?
Speaker 4 (48:19):
I have been handled all this coach, They've been doing
pretty good.
Speaker 12 (48:21):
The guys they probably not getting done. And one of
the coaches of Commin said they probably just get out
the field now. But we know we go something through thirsty.
So the kids come in on Sunday, were loft in
and focused, and my Monday practiced were really good. And
yesterday practice we call a tough Tuesday, so they were
really physical and so they be kind of scaled back
to make sure we call the focus wins.
Speaker 4 (48:39):
So I think they got to focus, are locky, and
we'll go to war. We'll see Friday night though. Keeping
their legs under them, coach, Yes, sir, that's the main thing, Yes, sir,
gotta keep them fresh.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
But you haven't changed anything you've been doing, have you, No, sir,
I love it.
Speaker 4 (48:51):
No reason to change nothing, focus, No, sir, keep keep
it the same way.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
Tell me about the keys to victory, coach, you kind
of kind of told me already.
Speaker 12 (48:59):
But summing up for so defensily, like I said, were
big on the three alignments, A lot of the three
a's alignment assignment attack.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Align, assignment attack, Yes, sir, we.
Speaker 12 (49:08):
Got we gotta stay in our gaups. We got to
minimize and run a game, and we gotta start the
passion game the best to our ability.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
So you gotta be fashion physical offensively.
Speaker 12 (49:16):
We gotta stay in the positivey tour and don't get
behind the sticks and control the clock, and I think
Special Team win that battle when the Space Team battle,
control the clock when the Special Team battle. Coach, Yes, sir,
Now they got a really good kicker. But I think
that week we can Yes, sure we can win it.
Control the clock on offense and we're gonna try to
end they drive for the touchdown or kick. So we
(49:36):
got to score time a good kicker. Coach, Yes, sir,
I got a kicker. He's a drum senior. One go
see you his soccer kid.
Speaker 11 (49:43):
You go.
Speaker 4 (49:43):
I love that. Now that man got him a soccer kicker.
I love that.
Speaker 3 (49:47):
So he's a sideline. He's a soccer style kick.
Speaker 4 (49:50):
Is really good at field goals.
Speaker 3 (49:54):
He's not good at extra points.
Speaker 4 (49:55):
Sure yet feel okay, okay, you scared me.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
The way you said that. If do y'all get mini penalties?
Speaker 4 (50:00):
Coach, Yes, and no. Last Friday night was the Lords
we had all year.
Speaker 12 (50:05):
We had seven penatis on the average, because I guess
we saw Chris so physical. We get a lot of penalties.
So we may every ten coach holding, passing the fair,
roughing the past or things like that, but effort penalties, Yeah,
that's kind of what I yes, sir.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
Yeah, so I told you guys, last week we minimized.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
I got to minimize, minimize it.
Speaker 12 (50:26):
And last Friday night we got it down to seven.
We had seven penalty for sixty five yards. So this
week we got to have three to five.
Speaker 3 (50:32):
Yeah, you can't. I'm not trying to coach, but you
gotta minimize.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
Yeah, you can't get you can't get negative.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
Play or give them a positiveness, sir, or you take
a negative after a positive, or you know what I mean.
You stop them and get a penalty.
Speaker 4 (50:44):
That's no good.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
You gained a big yard, get a hold, and that's
no good. Not that they're not you know, they're not
trying to hold them, just saying.
Speaker 4 (50:50):
That happened last Friday night.
Speaker 12 (50:51):
We had some drives we were putting together, got inside
the red zone a couple of times. Every time we
got inside of the redson and got called them back
for a holder.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
Let'll tell you something, coach, A whole penalty will kill
eight high school will kill a high school job because
there ain't a second, first and twenty or second.
Speaker 4 (51:05):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
You just don't have many long plays in high school
when you run the ball. About that you know health
of your team. Everybody help them, man. I think that
we were practicing and where we live in the scratch,
I think they're really good. And again, thank God, everybody
help them.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
Man.
Speaker 12 (51:20):
So I have a mentality throughout the week. We have
one physical day. I want to get my dogs to
the fight. And if you come watch on Friday night,
any given Friday, you'll see we will be a physical
brand of football team. So I think that one day
week being very physical, it help us out. And on
Friday night get all the dogs of the fight.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
Let them go.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
So tomorrow be an easy day for you and it
take us Friday. Give me your ten.
Speaker 12 (51:40):
We're gonna leave Friday morning about nine o'clock. We're gonna
make them stop at the rest area. Let the guy
get on the tarle bus and stript the layers out
and walk around a little bit, and then we're gonna
go to Fair.
Speaker 4 (51:50):
Hope and we're gonna stop and eat some one. They
won't do a walk through and go down to the fair.
We'll get a victory.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
Coach, We are very proud of the job.
Speaker 4 (51:57):
You've done it. But that is good man.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
Ye'll see as he is good, Yes he is. And
you have done a great job, you and your kids
and your coaches.
Speaker 4 (52:04):
Great job.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
Thank you for being here. Actually, we'll have a Wednesday
of Thanksgiving somewhere next week with all of you guys back.
Speaker 12 (52:09):
I know.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
Unfortunately we can't have coach Ethrid j and Coach More
because only one of them can win, and Coach Awn's
got to play tomorrow night, so he's be out, so
we could have three left asyway, so we're gonna have
one for sure. We know we'll need to be the
coach More, Coach Ethers. You two coach that's gonna do
it for Mose Barbecue High School Coaches Show. If it
is our last one, it's been another. It may be
our last one here because next week's Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
Obviously we won't get back. But Jeff, thank you, Jason,
thank you a good fan. Appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
And Ricky Carmack and willis another fabulous year at Most Barbecue.
Couldn't be any proud of Moe's Goryo's furniture, Ricky and
I mean Ricky, Ricky owns this place. Jimmy and Pam
at Gory and Jimmy out there of course. Frederick Dean
Funeral Home Joseph Dean Jr. What a fine person he is,
Terry and the great doctors at the Orthopedic Clinic, and
(52:57):
it's East Alabama's regional Orthopedic Excellence or with Peede Clinics.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
So thank you, Coach good see Buddy, Yep, yep, yep.
And so we appreciate these sponsors that make this show possible.
Most importantly, we appreciate the nineteen coaches, the nineteen schools
that send coaches.
Speaker 4 (53:10):
Here each Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
I know tonight was five, that's how many was left.
Speaker 2 (53:13):
But we've had nineteen coaches at ten pretty much all year,
and I want to thank every one of them, Coach
Grider to Coach More, Coach Ethrogon, all in between, from
the seven a's to the one a's and eight man football,
from Macon County to Russell, Russell County and Opal like
I mean, from League Chambers Russell.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
I was telling the lady over it give me a
call fee Bullet and Book. I was telling the lady
at the walfouse.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
She was asking me who all coaches because her son
played it at Spanish four years ago.
Speaker 10 (53:37):
County.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
I was telling her and I said, we get them,
and she was like that is unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
And I said, well, we do it every week. And
I got to thinking all all over. I said, it
is fabulous that we have a mix of coaches that
we do, and we try to treat them all the same.
We give them all the We may not give them
to the minute that same era time, but we try
to give them all equal coverage, absolutely, and I think
we do a good job with it. So anyway, thank you, Jeff, Jason, thank.
Speaker 3 (53:55):
You, buddy.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
And Van's got a big game. Don't forget Friday night.
Bought all the football they're playing them tie are Aumny.
Don't get any better than that. If you don't have
a ticket, you won't get one. So you might as
well turn into the kicker. Yeah, you'll be right there
with everybody on the kicker and you wanna have to
fight the crowd or anything else. So and of course
tomorrow morning, bright and early, that's six o'clock on Fox Sports,
(54:17):
the game jump and I'll be on the Mark Kenny
Knox tomorrow seven o'clock.
Speaker 10 (54:22):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
I'll be a good one. Jason, thank you. Bassoon trash
talk trash talk for for Van Chef and Jason. I'm
d mark so long for Mose Barbecue
