but so far it seems like everybody's having a pretty
good start. Some teams will be playing their fourth game
this week, some will be playing their third, but we're
(00:42):
excited to move into the show. We will not have
a couple of coaches tonight that have already coached Hunter
with Valley is all tonight, so they will not be here.
But Coach Brian Moore, the head coach at Oklak High School,
is in the house.

on How did this happen? That's what morning practice worked out.
That was good, And we had a baseball practice and
football practice, coach, because Parker's team, the middle school, the
eighth grade, played last night, so they're off today. So

be good.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
All right. I interrupted where you were saying. I wanted
to Parker cit down.

the game.
Speaker 2 (01:34):

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Your son is sitting right here. Hey, Parker, how are you? Oh,
let's get Parking to start over, Parker, how are you good?
Good Parker? It was good to see you.
Speaker 5 (01:45):

Let me take coach Blackma your son. This is your
old this Parker. You're going into the well. You're in
the seventh of me ag.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I say that every time I know that our eighth
grade and you are.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
One of the ball boys. Now you stay on the
which would be the home side, right.
Speaker 6 (02:02):
Oh, yes, sir, with the ball right, yes, sir.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
So I was over there with Mary Andrews, right, yes, sir.
And you had no clue who that was over there?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Did you know?
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Sir?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
But you knew who I was, all right? So I
stopped you. And what I do? I said, Hey, Parker,
I wanted you to meet Mayor Andrews.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
And you went, wait a minute, are you the mayor
of barber And I said an He went wow, and
you know my dad. So I got a picture of
you and the mayor and I sent it to your
family that you had no clue what was going on.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
I don't blame you. What did you think of the game, buddy?
Speaker 5 (02:30):
I thought it was really good.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
It was you wish I could have are we?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
I can say we because I went to school there, Yes, sir,
I could have graduated.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
There, just so you know, yes, say it again.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
It could have had a better outcome.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
But you ugh games, that's exactly right, far breaks, that's right.
So you played last night, yes, sir, right, So tell
me about that game.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Did you win?
Speaker 8 (02:48):
Yes, sir, we won forty five to nothing.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Close game till you kicked it off like that forty
five other who'd you play?
Speaker 8 (02:54):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (02:55):
We played Hayley.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Henley Hanley, okay, all right, So what did you play?
I played quarterback? Quarterback? That Cardin's slow down? All right,
So you played quarterback? All right? So how did you
play last night?
Speaker 9 (03:07):
I thought I played good?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Okay? How did everybody else play good? You remember anybody
played really good?
Speaker 10 (03:14):
Our starting quarterback, Braxton Terry, played really good.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
His last name is what Terry Terry? Braxton Terry. I
like that, Jojy, I played really good. H little back,
It's gonna be really good in the eighth grade. And
then I thought the offensive line played really well. Coach
IRB's got those guys going, so that was a lot
of fun. And tackled Handley's got some dudes. Many a
quarterback has away two hundred and twenty pounds and they've
got a running back.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
This is about two forty.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
We had a heart time tackling, but got settled in
and really proud of coach Ferguson and those guys.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Was an awesome jobs. Is that Dustin or James's Dustin?
So Justin is the coach.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
He is the eighth grade head coach, and then Craig
Montel is the AD and seventh grade head coach.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
They both did a great job. So proud of them.
All Right, when you play again.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
Parker, we play again this Thursday, next.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Thursday, I mean at Smith Station.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Because this one was moved because of the weather.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
Right, yes, sir, all right, all right, we're at to
the icecool coach show got the ninth grade report from
I mean the eighth grade.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Report from Parker Moore. Now we're gonna go to Brian Moore.
Talk a little bit about Friday Night Coaches twenty eight
twenty one. Your dogs lost a heartbreak.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
You had a seven point leading the fourth quarter. You
said after the game, we were supposed to win this game.
It was a very hard fought game. Your kids play well,
obviously not well enough to win. I was very proud
of as a guy that went oplake, I graduated and
spent thirty seven years in that broadcast booth.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Coach, I was proud. I know we lost, but I
was proud of your team. So I'll let you go
from there.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
You know, no doubt, proud of the in you two.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Well, I appreciate it and proud of our coaches and
everybody involved.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
But you know, we got to win that game, you know.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
And I told Band and Jason and everybody.
Speaker 5 (04:45):
I apologized for the.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Post game, you know, but it was raw emotion too,
you know, And everything I said I meant one hundred percent.
Speaker 11 (04:52):
You know.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
It's my job to finish games and teach us how
to win. And that's why I was brought here. And
and so I was disappointed in the outcome of the game.
You know, I felt like we had a ton of momentum.
We scored on the first drive of the third quarter,
make it fourteen four to two, scored in two plays
and Calvin Hughley the whole way, and then uh, our
defense got going. We had three three and outs in
a row. Defensively, had a huge punt from Zion Henderson
(05:15):
almost changed that game. He punted that thing inside the
five as a sixty plus yard punt, and uh, and
then we got a we got a three and out,
they punted it back to us, and we drove and scored,
you know, headed into the right there at the beginning
of the fourth. So with ten minutes left, we're twenty
one fourteen. Brody Jones made have had a heck of
a play over the top of a kid there in
the end zone. Uh, Kobe put it up and he
went and got it, and uh and you know, the
(05:37):
but the backbreaker of the game was they threw it
over our head. You know, we incredible throw by the
Kilgore kid. I thing was in flight for like fifty
five yards. It put it on the money. And uh,
we were actually double covering him. I mean we had
him covered up in a blanket, we did. And but
he made a play and we didn't make it. And
so that's what we're talking about right now. It's you know,
finishing those and and then you know, Auburn scored back
(05:59):
to back Possesson h fourteen and they've done a lot
of winning things in their program for the last several years.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
And uh, we got to figure out how to do
that too.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
And but again, I am proud of our kids in
an incredible high school atmosphere, how we responded, how we
carried ourselves. I thought we did some really good things
from a dismal standpoint. But but but as I said
back to echo in this message, like this is not
a moral deal for us. We don't we don't do
that here at Opulaka, and uh, you know, we expected
to win the game. I thought we should have won
(06:28):
the game, and we didn't. And uh, you know, you
tip your cap to coach Ethroage in the job he's
doing there. He does an incredible job too. I thought,
really well coached teams uh and uh in a big
time high school atmosphere. So uh, we got to figure
out a way to finish. And that's what we're working
on right now.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
You know, you brought some good points.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
One point I'm gonna tell you you the sidelines. I
was able to watch your sideline from you know, I
spent a quarter of there, in three quarters on umun
being with the Mary Anders and standing with him, and
I got a chance to look at you, and I
was very impressed with the poise of the size of
the Let me teach you this coach. When they went
down over there, there was no I will say that
for the coach, It's no doubt. There was none. It
(07:04):
was like you know, you could tell at the end. Now,
I mean, there's no question they were respecting you guys.
I mean there's a lot of respect they had for
a like in that football game, coach. I mean there's
no doubt. But yeah, it went right to the end.
And and the ability to run the football impressed me.
That that impressed me. Coaches, you lined up in Hugley
man and he just he was running the football, head
(07:25):
on ahead, your guys up front. I don't know how
who graded was, but the times I watched Jackson Lee
pull and made plays, coach he made some good blocks
he did, and I you know, I thought I thought
for the most part we played well up front.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
We had some we had some issues.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Of course, they got a good scheme and coach Coolsby
does a good job, so they started bringing extra guys.
And you know, it was no secret what we were doing.
I mean, it wasn't like you know where we're you know,
we're hiding. We're running the football at you and uh,
and that's what we want to be.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
I think that's what open like it is.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
Though, you know when I broadcast get up under center,
run the full back and in the huddle, which like
a little huddle. Yeah, and uh, you know we right
now with where we are, we need to shortened games
a little bit.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
And uh played at the end, which we which our
recipe was there, you know, but uh, it was all
in front of you. But again, you know, a huge play,
two plays from their queue and uh, and the receivers.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
He made plays may throws.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
They answered every time they did. They answered every time.
And I give that to senior quarterback. When I was
going back when he threw that ball.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Band showed me today the video he threw that ball
when that young man was on his own thirty.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Coach, I want you to watch you replay.
Speaker 5 (08:29):
He'll do that.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
That ball was like he caught it at our thirty.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
Yeah, he threw, no doubt he.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
It was, I don't know, great play, incredible rate play.
And again, you know, during the game, I thought, man,
what do we do back there? Because I didn't see
him chasing him, you know, but ultimately we were right there,
right there, and you just tip your cap on something
like that, you know, man at punt's coach, he flipped
that field and I was looking at him.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
I said, look at this big old fill.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
I was like, wow, he's a good one doing a
good job that you were Okay, yep, that's right.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
He can flip the field on.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
So all right, you take you go from there, you
come back home Bulldog Stadium, second home game JAG formerly
Jeff Davis out of Montgomery. This team's owing two. Coach,
you should win this game, but you gotta play it.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Gotta play. I don't mean it, no, no question.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
They've lost two big games. You got to buy two
big margins. You gotta play. And they're athletic now. I mean,
you know against Hugh at trust Will the very first
kick of the game, they House called it. So he
goes nice speed. Yeah, they can run, and so you know,
you got to do some things. But you know, who
are we going to be? You know, how are we
going to respond? I didn't think we have a very
good Monday, to be honest with you. But I thought
our Tuesday was the best of the year. And this morning,
Wednesday morning was great, and so I really like our
(09:37):
response now. And you know, just a lot of emotions
and things in that game. So just uh, just you know,
I'm eager to see us and how we bounce back,
because I think it's gonna tell the story going forward.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Fact House, I was very proud of you your support
the other night.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
It's amazing good more absolutely, and I had to make
sure I had to keep mayor of every play. It
was like I said, having to taste him on his
way back in the flight. No doubt, but no doubt anyway, coach,
good to see you, Thank you much, Park.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Can I see you buddy all right? Yep, We'll be
in touch.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
That's open, like coach Brian Moore, Dogs at home versus
about to say callaway versus jack. Second region game is
very important to get the first region win. You can
hear the game right here on ninety seven point seven
Kicker FM. We're gonna take a break at the coaching
show here at Moles, presented to you by the Orthopedic
Clinic and our good friends at Gorreez Furniture Express, Springwood,
the Wildcats eight man football.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
When we come back, Hey, and welcome back to the
high school Coaching Show. We're coming to you live from
Moe's Original Barbecue. It's brought to you by the Orthopedy
Clinic and Gory's Furniture Express on Highway one sixty nine.
(10:44):
Pamm and Jimmy Gorrey or fantastic people. Our next team
is NOA Sucker Coach AJ Williams. Coach Green last week,
tough loss last week.
Speaker 11 (10:53):
In Toggobill Coach Sir, Yes, sir, you.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Want to talk about that. We'll talk about that one briefly.
We'll get that neither the way, and we'll talk about
because you got another a good one coming up.
Speaker 12 (11:00):
Oh yes, sir, yes, sir, that was a you feel
like Taco Bill was one we let h get away.
Guys were just then to come out how we needed
to started slow, and the Taco Bill took advantage of it.
They had kind of preached that whole week that the
Taco Bell is one of those teams that if we
don't go ahead and put them away their team, that
(11:21):
can make it a long night. And that's what they did.
I was proud of the guys for how they came
out in the second half. I think we outscored them
in the second half fourteen to eight. But once you
did yourself in the hole like that, it's kind of
hard to get out of.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
It, right right, coach, You know, wait, wait, we ain't
dwelling that. When you got a good one coming up,
you got a tough one coming up. Everybody knows who
makers really, yes, sir, and I know the sucking those
who oh yes sir, yes sir, But you got.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Them at home, got them at home. That's that's that's big.
Speaker 12 (11:51):
Any time you can play one of the top teams
using the region at home, it's kind of a good thing.
So hopefully we can come out start faster than we
did last week and uh we can make uh make
this a game and then we can uh take out take.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
What do we what do we gotta do defensively to
hold them down?
Speaker 13 (12:13):
We have to stop the run. They'll line up with
the h back and they run behind.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Him all night, So they gotta they gotta leave blocker
and blockers.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Right, big is he big?
Speaker 14 (12:25):
He's not big. He's physical, physical, and they're always a
physical team.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Right.
Speaker 13 (12:30):
They will throw it to him every once in a while,
but their main forte is to run the ball.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
So they're gonna, they're gonna they definitely want to establish
a run. When when to get to know circle Friday night.
But they can't throw what you're saying.
Speaker 14 (12:44):
I ain't saying they can't throw, but they try not to. Yeah,
so we get them to throw.
Speaker 13 (12:48):
And we're gonna have ourselves on a big ball game.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
You got them where you want him if you get
them to throw, if you're stopping to run offensively, what
do we gotta do.
Speaker 12 (12:59):
The away from over. I think last week that was
one of the big things. I think we had six turnovers.
Like I said, once you have six turnovers and lost
times lost the ball six times. So anytime you you
you have that many turnovers, it's hard to beat anybody. Yeah,
and penalties and that that that that really hurt us
(13:23):
last week. So if we can stay away from turning
the ball over, stay away from the penalties, I think
we got a chance. Is everybody available, everybody's available. We
had one out last week, Dasmond Miller. We initially thought
he might have messed up I had a broken collar bone,
but thankfully that wasn't the case.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
So he'll be available this week. So he's excited to play.
Speaker 12 (13:48):
Uh. He hated that he had to miss the game
last week, but uh, he's he's ready to rock.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
And roll this week.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
How you how your special teams?
Speaker 12 (13:55):
And we've been pretty solid, I don't we haven't given
enough a touchdown or kick return from return yet, so
we've kind of established that, well we're not I know
what it was like two years ago. Every time we
seemed like we kicked it off, we were giving up
big plays. So we've excuse me, kind of solidified that
(14:19):
we got some of our key guys that that play
both ways. A lot of kids don't come off the field,
so we've uh and they understand the importance of making
sure we don't give up those big plays.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Especially.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
You know, it ain't been many years ago where you
kicked off and the team started.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
At the twenty. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Ain't been that far back.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Yeah, great. He didn't have any brothers.
Speaker 14 (14:39):
Look, that was the last he has a fourth grader.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Yeah, yeah, so you got to wait on him, got
to wait.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
I can remember the story the one time he didn't
kick it in the end zone they returned touchdowns. What
everybody is knew it was going to be like we had.
They got so used to going through the motion.
Speaker 12 (14:58):
It was so funny because it was it was a
playoff game and we were kind of preaching to him
the whole time. He got to make sure we kick
it out of bounds. I mean, kick it out of
the end zone. We can't kick it to the guy
and rest. We came out of half time, we kicked
the right to him and he took it back.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Now, so I remember that I was leading to It
wasn't funny then, but it's funny.
Speaker 15 (15:19):
Now.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Yeah, you can look back on the lab now, but
back then.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Man, y'all need that brother. What's the youngest he can
start kicking for you? Seventh grader grade. Maybe he'll be read.
He's got to be in close.
Speaker 14 (15:32):
I think he's going to be more. He's going to
be more of a defensive guy. He's he's stocky and
very strong.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
You know what you can play, You can play. You
can play the game and kick to a lot of teams.
Speaker 14 (15:45):
He said, he's not a soccer guy.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
Like yeah, his brother working said.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
Coach is still we got some time.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
Well, hey, this week it's the Blue Devils and the
Red Devils.
Speaker 5 (15:58):
Yes sir, yes, sir, you gotta gotta come.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
The last time y'all hadn't played them in the season.
Speaker 14 (16:03):
Oh oh, I want to go back, maybe to two
thousand and nine or ten somewhere.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
The last time I went to a Red Devil Blue
Devil's game was in the playoffs. And I don't know
how many years ago it was. Uh, y'all just finished
up your your new building there at the at the
and did some renovations to your to your stadium.
Speaker 14 (16:27):
Might have been two thousand and and.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
I'll tell you it was on uh tay O'Neil. Okay man,
what a nice y man. That was tragic. You know,
I hated that twelve thirteen. Yeah, that's the last that's
the last time I went to a Blue Devil Red
Devil game.
Speaker 14 (16:43):
They beat us up, They beat us throwing the ball that.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
Night really good, right, and they dressed about sixty right.
They had had a lot of kids on the team.
Speaker 11 (16:52):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
This week, good luck, sir.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
I hope y'all play well and get the dog. We'll
see y'all next Wednesday right here, and we'll talk about
that game. We'll talk about the one coming up. We
ain't worried about the one coming up. We're worried about
working on this on Friday. Yes, third, Hey, that's another
suckle Blue Devils. You've been listening to the High School
Coaches Show. Up next Auburn High School coach Keith E.

(17:42):
of your first two last week Rambourn. We're going to
get into that one, your first loss of the season
in a tight game nineteen fourteen. Was that the final score? Yes, sir, okay,
because you know, make sure we got it down here right.
Had some injuries too, though we talked about that. We
won't go deep into that because you know, hippolaws and
all that. But five guys had to exit the game, yes, sir,
(18:02):
and one didn't even get.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
To play because of the illness.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Right, so we're expecting him back though, right, Yes, sir,
four maybe five, four for sure, maybe all five back
next week I mean Friday, I don't mean next week, sir.
Speaker 16 (18:15):
We're praying about it, hopefing everything works out.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
All right.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
That was the first region game. This is number two
coming in. You're gonna be at Locha Poker. Loch Poker.
I have seen them play this year. They got an
athletic team, yes, sir, they do well coached.
Speaker 16 (18:29):
We have to play our best game the coach Hall
does a great job over there, and we will have
to be on our best, on our best to go
down there and show up.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
All right, you know, before we get too deep into
Locha poker, let's let's briefly cover the Rambourn game last week.
You'll want to talk about that. I mean it was
nineteen fourteen. It was a tight game, was it. What
was the score half time?
Speaker 11 (18:55):
Nineteen zero?
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Really?
Speaker 4 (18:56):
Yeah, that's right. You guys scored fourteen?
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Answer didn't sacond hand?
Speaker 7 (19:01):
Well, twenty one? But they called one back.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Wait a minute, how do you get how do you
get one all back at home?
Speaker 7 (19:08):
That's a great question. Well, well, will never be the
one to blame the refs on the game.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
No, I know that was it?
Speaker 11 (19:14):
It get damn me.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
It was a holding call, holding car, chopped black.
Speaker 7 (19:17):
Nor crack, No I touch the crack.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
But you know we did you find it on film?
Speaker 11 (19:27):
Coach?
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Okay, yeah, we saw.
Speaker 7 (19:29):
Clipped it and sent to the right people.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Oh oh, you mean, in other words, you never saw
it the call. You didn't see the car. There was
the car, but you didn't see the car, so you
sent it to the right paper. I got you, I understand.
I feel, because that's the first thing you're gonna do
is look for that look for that.
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Crucial Well, it changed the momentum. We were driving and
they were boy, they were on they was on fumes.
I mean, we had them exactly where we were we
wanted them because you know, we timp on the huddle,
you know, and we had some penalties came in there
late that killed the drive force well, slowed down the momentum.
(20:07):
So but hats.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Off to them.
Speaker 7 (20:09):
They played a great game. We knew they was gonna
play hard. I think that once we found out that
we could play up to that level of their competition
to hit them back, then it was like second half. Oh, coaches,
you know, this is the ball game. So you know,
first region game, and they they did some things that
(20:29):
you know, normally you don't see when starters go out
the numbers that we had to go out and the
starting your left tackle doesn't play because of food poisoning.
We had some kids that stepped up that normally. We
had an eighth grade that came in and scored. He
plays DV as well, but last Friday we had to
put him in a running back and he stepped up
to the play and scored. So we we got the
(20:52):
pieces there. We just got the kids to believe and
they actually did not give up. They fought over to them.
I mean, we had the kids actually crying on the field.
They was like, coach, we were supposed to win that game.
I mean, and it came down to six seconds and
we still had a shot at it. And the backup
quarterback came in left handed and we drew a play
up that we've worked on before. We drew it up.
(21:13):
We looked at film. The guy was wide open, just
like we thought, but he was left handed and he
was trying to get a grip on the bottle ball
was wet a little bit, but uh, he couldn't get
it off. But we had a shot, you know, and
you know we we gave them more than what they
bargained for.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Yeah, I hated for you, coach last week. You got
your your traveling to Loch Poker. They got an athletic team.
Now they've had a tough you know, they had to
cancel the first game right they played least out lost
that game. They played last week and lost, but they're
coming back and they got an athletic team. They got
a good coach, you know, you gotta prepare for him
because you just you don't know when it's gonna when
(21:47):
it's gonna click for them too, right exactly, So what
do we gotta do to stop? First off, what we
got to do to stop Poker?
Speaker 16 (21:57):
That big upfront, have a really good running back, great receiver.
We respect them a lot what they do. Like I
said earlier, we're gonna have to stand up defensive wise
and stop some things that they're good at that they
we feel that they can hurt us on.
Speaker 5 (22:15):
And hopefully we're.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Gonna have that.
Speaker 7 (22:20):
We've got.
Speaker 16 (22:25):
So that's that's what we want to do. We want
to step up and play our brand of ball and
and see how the chips like you know, we gotta
play our brand of ball offensive coach.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
Coach being moders, We're we're getting there. We're playing hard
kids buying in. Uh Like I said, you know, Raven
was a test for us that that was a huge
test for us mentally and physically. Uh So we're looking
at this local poker game as you know, we need
a wren A win in the region, and they do
some good things. We watched films on them. You know,
(22:56):
I came down here late because we were still working
on some things off because I used to coach there
two years ago, so a lot of the kids I
know personally, he had relationship with him. So we're we're
putting the game playing together. I mean, like they say,
the head is in the barn now, we kind of
fine tuning everything offensively and as a team. We've had
(23:19):
kids come in and I mean we're still working out,
you know, even though we got aches and bangs here
and there, we're still in the weight room. So we
were teaching the kids how to fight through adversity. I
think coach said that Friday bit. He said, that's the
first time you ever seen a team just fight through
adversity being down nineteen points. So now our kids have
a taste of what it feels like to fight back
and to come together as a team. You know, we
(23:42):
put in young guys to fill in key positions, and
my quarterback have him taken a snap all year because
he was at receiver. And then we go down to
halftime after half, third, fourth, I got to put him
in and you know, he kept everything going. You know,
we managed the game with him. So we look forward
to at Friday night. I think their kids are excited
(24:02):
about it, you know, like coach said, they're doing a
great job over there. Coach Hall, it's feeling in for
Coach Newton that stepped down and pursue other career opportunities.
So we know we have our work cut out. And
it's our first road through road game, so there'll be
a challenge for us as well. See how we step
up to the challenge of playing on the road.
Speaker 16 (24:24):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (24:24):
The people in lich are gonna do a good job
of tailgating. The atmosphere is gonna be set right, So
I can't wait till we get there.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
You know, they got a new stadium new over there, well,
I mean they renovated. Man, it's really good.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
It's real nice.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
For one, it is Hey the mind Shaddy team. Do
you feel like it's it's clicking for you right now?
The guys know they can play with anybody.
Speaker 16 (24:45):
The thing is, I mean, just like pigging back off
what Coach said, I've seen some kids. We we came
back without our starters. These young guys play their butts off,
and I hated to see them loose. Yeah, because we
did it with our best kids sitting on the bench
with him.
Speaker 7 (25:03):
Yeah, and they didn't never quit, and so we got
to figure it.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
Out for them. All right, Hey, well, good luck Friday.
You got Lochri Poker and Loachri Poker, and I hope,
I hope it's not raining Phil to be wet, but
no rain, so good luck coach. Hey, you been listening
to the Coaches High School Coaches show up next and
not thee Sober High School. Hey, welcome back to the
(25:36):
high School Coaching Show. We're coming to you live from
Moe's Original Barbecue.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
It's brought to you by the Orthopedy.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Clan Gory's Furniture Express, and you can listen to us
on Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
The Game.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Southern Preps Up next, got Southern Prep coach Uppeables and
coach Reese. Good afternoon, fellers. How are y'all. It's good
to see y'all here last week?
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Right? Didn't you'll have one more person with them?
Speaker 5 (25:57):
I was here last week with coach Niman with.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
A new Okay, yeah that's right, Coach Newman a right.
Uh last week uh was Uhring Springwood.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
We had the Springwood coach on just real early in
the show. Second coach uh forty four twenty four is
that right, forty four eight. Okay, this is just in
here wrong. I just talk about that game briefly.
Speaker 17 (26:27):
Coach couldn't really stop the run. We were scoring a lot,
we were having really big shot plays, and then offense
would kind of stall and then drive it in.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
They they ran the ball really well. I would say,
you know what, C. J. Johnson, they gotta know that.
You all know that kid.
Speaker 11 (26:45):
He's the big running back.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
That's right. He's got a brother that's on the team, Greg, Greg, and.
Speaker 18 (26:50):
He's what a receiver receiver, wing back, Yeah, kind of player.
But yeah, we uh, first half, we we had a
couple of turnovers on defense. I think it was twenty
to sixteen and half really and then we actually came
we were down twenty sixteen, and we came out, got
the ball to start the second half and scored and
took the lead. But uh, the turnovers were big in
(27:13):
the first half, and we had two interceptions in a
fumble recovery, and then the second half they ran the
ball almost every single play and we just.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Couldn't stop it.
Speaker 11 (27:24):
Over four hundred yards.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Russian one day. I think what wouldn't surprise me is
what coach Burch.
Speaker 11 (27:30):
Told me the head over four hundred.
Speaker 18 (27:32):
I mean we just all week he worked on what
we were doing, and outside linebackers wanted to play eight
yards off the ball, and you can't do that if
you want to win against the team that's going to
run the ball.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Yeah, you have a guy start. He's by the time
he gets even with you, he's.
Speaker 18 (27:48):
Value, especially when he's six two two thirty.
Speaker 11 (27:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Oh, I've seen him. They've both been here.
Speaker 11 (27:54):
Both of them are good looking athletes.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
All right, we got evangel Christian and you know I
used to I usually ask this question when I see
it on the regular schedule, but I see it's a
REGI game. Is it evangel out of Alabasta or is
it evangelid of Montgomery. Yeah, because they're two different two
different teams. I mean, you gotta, you gotta when you
when you introduce them, you gotta think differently about them.
What do we gotta do? What does evangel Christian out
(28:16):
of Montgomery do?
Speaker 11 (28:17):
Well?
Speaker 17 (28:18):
Run the ball with the quarterback, be more working on
contain contain contain.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
All right, and why do we stop them?
Speaker 18 (28:26):
So we're putting uh ore alignment, which is going to
be different this week. Scooting uh ends out wide, and
we're just going to try to build a wall, and
I'm gonna trust my athletes to make plays where they
need to make plays. And I think that from the
people that I have in certain spots, we'll.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Be able to do it.
Speaker 17 (28:48):
Throw the ball at all, they try. Sometimes it's not efficient.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
They're not strong with throwng no offensively, what do we
gotta do to beat these guys?
Speaker 17 (28:58):
Run the ball, need for your to carry at least,
and we need to have the will to finish a
team when they're down.
Speaker 11 (29:05):
Your quarterback, how well is he throw?
Speaker 17 (29:08):
He's a ninth grader. He has his highs, he has
his lows. We just need him to be consistent and
make the easy throws on third and five, third and six.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
This fourth game of the season. Has he gotten better
every game? Most definitely.
Speaker 17 (29:20):
We started the year he was throwing maybe ten or
fifteen passes a game. Through twenty six passes against Springwood,
didn't throw an interception.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
I don't believe no. I mean, he looked, he looked good.
Speaker 18 (29:31):
He looked great last game. He's learned to stay in
the pocket, how to get rid of the ball, take
the hit. I mean, he's he's really progressed and matured
a lot so far over the season.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
So who you're running back? Who's your bailkal? Who's the
guy that you go.
Speaker 11 (29:43):
To it run?
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Now?
Speaker 17 (29:44):
So we got a senior running back, he's been with
us for three years and we got some good backups.
But he's definitely number one and he's not afraid to
run through people. But he needs that help. He needs
someone to be his number two most definitely, this.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Far into the season, which side of the ball do
you think you're strongest at right now?
Speaker 17 (30:00):
As an offensive coach, I'm gonna say offense. But our
defense has been helping us a lot in a lot
of games.
Speaker 11 (30:08):
So they've they've been playing really well. Yes.
Speaker 17 (30:10):
Usually usually our defense wins us the first in the
second quarter, and then our offense will get it together.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
In front of defensive coordinator offense.
Speaker 17 (30:18):
Quida, I'm the offensive assistant in the special teams coach?
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Okay, who costs the plays?
Speaker 17 (30:22):
Our offensive coordinator?
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Coach Web Newman. Okay, well what does coach What does
coach mail do? He's just the head coach much.
Speaker 11 (30:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Does he ever say no, we're not running that?
Speaker 5 (30:33):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (30:33):
He does. So he'll step in and say Hey, I
don't like that. We're gonna do something else. Yes, sir, okay,
I didn't know how he did. What about does he
taker with defense at all?
Speaker 11 (30:41):
Not really. I kind of have full reigns on it.
Speaker 18 (30:43):
But if I ever need any advice or help, you know,
I'll go talk to him see what I can improve
on or see what he sees. I even talk to
coach Peebles about that too. You know, any any adjustments
that I can make, anything that you see, let me
know because I may not see it.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
But what all right? You go in at halftime and
you're making adjustments? Is it you and coach Bell making adjustments?
Is that you and your oh see making adjustments? Coach
Bell has some saves? Which side? Or is it? Is? It?
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Is it based on what the score is.
Speaker 18 (31:16):
I typically look at what I saw from the first
half and where we needed to improve, and then I
just gather my defense and talk to him. And I
mean I kind of do it by myself a lot.
And then you know, obviously throughout the half, I'll talk
to the coaches and see if they see anything different.
Speaker 4 (31:34):
So guys have been the road warriors. Oh yes, it's
gonna be good to be home, isn't it. Oh yeah, finally,
it's probably.
Speaker 11 (31:40):
Gonna be with I hope not.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
I hope you know, the ground will be wet, but
I hope it's not raining during the game.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
I haven't looked that. Fore ahead, Well, we've been practicing
on Thursday night, your Thursday night. That's right, you're probably
gonna be awake. It's probably gonna be with.
Speaker 17 (31:55):
Oh yeah, yeah, we've been practicing for it.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Okay, where you with the balls? Something like that. Can't
give out all the sequences.
Speaker 11 (32:01):
Okay, Well, he's a lot of teams.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Duncle in you know five you know, fifty five gallon
druones and use the wetball. Hey, good luck Friday. Good
luck this Thursday. I'm sorry tomorrow, it's not Friday. Yes,
look forward to senior. You guys coming back next week.
Hopefully you've been a regular. Oh yeah, all right, it's
good to see you. Coach Reese, Coach Peebles. That was
Southern Prep. Up next Lafaette High School.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
All right, we're back.
Speaker 19 (32:31):
It's the High School Coaches Show. And yes, this is
the most exciting six minutes of the Coach Coaching Show.
It's boy guard football all right when we'd like to
thank the Orthopedic Clinic, Mo's Original Barbecue, Gory's Furniture on
Highway sixty nine.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
You can listen to us.
Speaker 19 (32:45):
That would be Coach Jones, Coach Wallace, mister Sassar and
the gang on Fox Sports, the Game, iHeartRadio and yes
the kicker w kk R ninety seven to seven. That's
Lee County's best country.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
That's right, and it's brought to you by North Peeda Clinic.
Speaker 19 (33:00):
And I said, all that.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Get you was on your phone.
Speaker 19 (33:04):
I said it, I mean, you know.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
But look you can repeat it.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
You Look this time I was going to talk about
the person that made the schedule, but now I mean
you play two on the road and then you come
home and you on the road again.
Speaker 19 (33:16):
Yes, well look we we had a great time last
Friday night at home, a big, big win for us.
Uh broke out some new lights, you know, sound all
that kind of stuff was pretty cool the other night,
so uh, good crowd and didn't really have any rain.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
It was like everybody, I counted twelve drops. It means
at the game, what about you or how may you
have twelve drops? I think I counted twelve. Hit me
on the head.
Speaker 19 (33:43):
Well, I hope it's I hope it stays that way
this Friday too, I bet, because like currently, uh.
Speaker 11 (33:48):
We have it enough.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
It ain't looking promising. But you know, anything you changed,
you know, I don't know, I really don't. They talked about,
you know, waves coming in and going out another way,
you know, with those bands of showers. You know, I
got you. That circulation, I guess, I don't know. It
reaches way out. I mean if may landfall in Louisiana
is reaching up, so you know, I got you. So
I hope not. I promise you. I hope. I hope
(34:10):
it's just as well.
Speaker 19 (34:11):
We're traveling to Silicaga. They got it, you know, at
Legion Stadium, Missus turf Field, so it'll be it's a
nice outfit regardless.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah, yep, yep.
Speaker 19 (34:20):
So let's talk a little talk with last week.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
Yeah, let's go all right now.
Speaker 19 (34:24):
I'm gonna let coach Wallace the office coordinator. Offensive exploded
last week.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
My throw of the offense. I must have called it excep.
Speaker 10 (34:34):
I definitely were calling the plays this week now. The
first two weeks, I don't know what was going on,
but but last week I was definitely calling it and
it was. It was a good night for the boreguard
hornet offense. We were able to throw and catch and
have some big plays and uh had a lot of
success early and we just kind of rode that through
the rest of the game.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
I know, one guy was doing all the throwing. Who
was doing the catching?
Speaker 10 (34:54):
Coach, Well, we had several guys.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
We really have four.
Speaker 10 (34:57):
Guys plus a running back that that catched the ball
really well.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
They're running good routes.
Speaker 10 (35:01):
They can run, uh pretty fast kids, and they catch
the ball well.
Speaker 14 (35:05):
So we had five guys catch.
Speaker 10 (35:07):
The ball and we took through a total of six touchdowns.
So uh, it was it was a it was a
fun night and uh put on a good show for
our home crowd and uh we was really excited because
we needed that success for real.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
All right, well, all right, yeah you got that one
either the way. You head to Silicago this week. What
you're gonna have to tell me about Silicaga.
Speaker 10 (35:25):
Well, defensively, Uh, they got some good looking kids, some
good size up front, and that's been our kind of
Achilles Hill is uh, you know, blocking blocking those athletic guys.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
So uh, we got.
Speaker 10 (35:37):
To do a better job of blocking and establishing a
run game. But uh, you know in the back end,
they got some guys that can run. So we got
we got to work cut out for us, and we're
gonna have to go out there and play our best
game to uh to kind of repeat what we did
this week.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
I mean, how mean, how did you rush for the
last week?
Speaker 10 (35:53):
We probably rushed for eighty eighty five yards, So plays
on them, Oh yeah, yes, I mean our quarterback, Cub
Jones was was ten or thirteen and in ten completions
he was he was right at three hundred yards and
four touchdown.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
So that's pretty good average right there.
Speaker 10 (36:09):
Yeah, so they you know more, Marberry chose to kind
of come up guardess in tight coverage and we were
able to run by them. And the biggest thing is
you could run by them all night, but you got
to be able to throw and catch as well.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
And we did a good job of doing that.
Speaker 11 (36:23):
What was the shortest completion?
Speaker 8 (36:25):
The shortest completion?
Speaker 10 (36:27):
It couldn't have been very short because well, I know,
I mean, I mean, I mean he averaged twenty seven
yards a reception, so I mean, like it was. There
was some throws that we throw, some screens out there
and the kids would make some yeah yeah, wed block
a couple of guys in.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
Okay, yeah, yeah, I was just stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
So they might have had some sixties and seventies and
then ten or.
Speaker 10 (36:48):
I think the longest was sixty seven on a post
ball to jeremiad Fitch. So yeah, but like I said,
those guys do a good job of catching the ball
and uh being overrun with it.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
After what we got to do to stop Silicaga, well.
Speaker 19 (37:03):
I think we gotta be we gotta be more physical
at the point of attack. They uh, they jump in
in a lot of formations, they do some wildcat stuff,
they snap into a couple of different kids, and I
think we've got to do a good job of alignment
and then just being physical at the point of attack,
just you know, just kind of stopping to run and
making them one dimensional. I know that sounds very you know,
(37:24):
coach talk, but in the game Friday night, that's reality.
Speaker 11 (37:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (37:28):
You know, they've got some injuries. So if we can
make them one dimensional, that's gonna really help us have success,
have a chance to have success Friday night.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
So you want them just to you want to just
to run the football, No, sir, we want to stop
the run. You want to make them have.
Speaker 19 (37:42):
To throw its correct?
Speaker 5 (37:43):
Yes, okay, yes, is.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
That not a strong.
Speaker 19 (37:46):
But their their quarterback got injured last week.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
Really, so he's out, Yes, sir, you already, I mean
you already seen the injury.
Speaker 5 (37:52):
Yes, sir.
Speaker 19 (37:53):
So that's gonna be a key component you're making anytime
you play a backup, make them one dimension. You know,
that's going to be a kick up on it in
the game. So I think that's going to play into it.
You know, anytime you're dealing, you know, with wet conditions,
special teams becomes a huge play in it. So we
got to be really sound in the in the kicking
game when when that kind of deal. So I think
(38:14):
if we can be sounding the kicking game, if we
can you know, make them one dimensional on offense and
then just kind of continue to build on what we
what we're doing offensively, I think that we've got a
chance to be successful this year.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
He put a whole lot less.
Speaker 19 (38:28):
Friday Friday Night.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
He didn't have to put.
Speaker 19 (38:31):
But once I think he gets and he like he
understands that's the big part.
Speaker 11 (38:35):
Now.
Speaker 19 (38:35):
The only thing I ain't tell you about that Jackson
has done this year. He is now our holder, so like,
you know, just just in terms of just and like
took it upon himself like coach. I got yeah, you know,
because he works with those guys that you know, they
kind of have their little their little deal at practice.
They do, you know, their little routine. And when he
started picking up on it, like man, just do it,
(38:56):
let's go Becaus the athletic kid, you know. So uh
and only see our punter. He's actually our our holder too.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
So all right, we're good, uh good luck this week, Yes, sir,
traveling is traveling and silicager.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Then you get to come back home, is all right.
Speaker 19 (39:11):
We're gonna be home for a couple of weeks after
after which one of the things I think it's at
the end of the year.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
I think it's the last games Ross Crown, I think.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
So okay, all right.
Speaker 19 (39:20):
We like we like to we like for it to
cool off before we have homecoming to board.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
And we don't know who want to play over the week, right,
you know, cub was one other three.
Speaker 19 (39:28):
I got you, but I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
I don't either, no idea.
Speaker 5 (39:31):
I'll find out.
Speaker 11 (39:32):
I find out.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
We'll let you know. I appreciate what days your day
to call in. I forget tomorrow Friday. It's tomorrow, Okay,
I know by.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Then there you go, there you go.
Speaker 19 (39:42):
So and he hasn't ribs over a big boy.
Speaker 5 (39:46):
He ain't said.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
That was seven and a half minutes. I believe we
gave you all like seven and a half.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
I like it.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
Yeah, that's the most exciting seven and a half minutes
for the show. Right here, five sports a game. You've
been listening to the Coaches Show. We'll be back right
after this.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (40:22):
Ready for.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Jeez, Welcome back to.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Welcome back to High School Coaches Show, MOS original Barbecue,
Bench Creek and auverign d Mark, Jeff Jason Lee our
producer here tonight, Moses our as our host and one
of our sponsors Orthopedic Clintons, one of our fine sponsors
along with Gory's Furniture Express. What we do about those
wonderful folks, and we certainly appreciate them because we certainly
would not be here.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
And we appreciate modes feeding our coaches. And what a
beautiful night. A few weeks ago, we were sweating, it
was hot.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
We was wondering what was going to happen. But it
is a beautiful night. It's a damp night, but a
beautiful night. Time to talk a little.
Speaker 1 (41:01):
Undefeated Budlah Bobcat, budle Land Football, gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
Good evening, good evening.
Speaker 11 (41:07):
Hey, we got.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Coach Course and the coach Pepper offense and defense coordinator right, Yes, sir,
I didn't realize that till I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Y'all always coming. Were glad to have y'all. Congrats on
y'all know I'm messing.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
We congrats on the third win last week.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
It was a.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Excuse me, a twenty eight to fourteen win over Davile,
a region win, not only undefeated, but one and oh
in the region.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
So congrats, appreciate it. Yeah, it was a good win
for us.
Speaker 20 (41:33):
We you know, we didn't play real well, especially offensively
early on, and had had to straight some things out
offensively at halftime, but you know, we know kept on
fighting and we pulled it out. You know that last
quarter we played, you know, really well, and so you know,
like you said, we three and oh and want to
(41:53):
know in the region and you know next game up.
You know, that's how you got to look at it.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
Coach or defense fourteen points twenty one fourteen or fourteen fourteen.
Speaker 6 (42:02):
Yeah, they played great. I mean we gave up the kickoff.
They took opening kickoff back, so it put us in
a whole seven nothing, but we responded on the offense
and then held off defense. Yeah yeah right, yeah yeah yeah,
and then we held them the seven points the rest
of the game. I mean, they played really really well.
Our secondary. We stopped to run. They couldn't run a
(42:24):
ball on us, so our secondary had step up and
they did. And hats off to those guys. They played
really really well.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
All right, let's talk about any other kids. You want
to mention names.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
I like to get some names out there, but Keain,
you want to mention any ear if there's anybody.
Speaker 6 (42:40):
But defensively any either or yeah, defensively again, our whole secondary, uh,
coach Prepper coaches the secondary, they really really played well.
They had to spread us out in the second half
and try to get down the field, and our linebackers
did well containing that quarterback and uh we forced them
(43:01):
into force the minutes and fourth down conversions that that
we stopped to. So that was it was big and
our guys were pumped and anytime anytime you get a
fourth down, stop right there and you can flip it
and get the offense on the field. And you know,
it's a little jold. And then they tried to a
fake punt and we stopped it. So our guys were
prepared and ready, and we hope it carries over.
Speaker 11 (43:22):
It.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
It has carried over this week, and we hope it
carries over in a Friday night.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
All right, speaking of Friday night Battle of two, three
and oh unbeaten teams both one and O in the region.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
First meeting between the two teams.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
Judge Gott feels the site at least got academy joining
the HSA Warriors are three and oh, you guys are
three and oh.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
What are you seeing the Warriors.
Speaker 20 (43:43):
Well, they're very well coached. H They're not going to
do anything to hurt themselves. They're solid on the office
and the defensive line. One thing about it that impresses
me is their defensive line doesn't outstand job of using
their hands to fight off bots.
Speaker 11 (44:04):
Uh.
Speaker 20 (44:05):
Probably one of the best defensive lines we've seen in
a couple of years at doing that. They're just real solid,
Like I said, real well coached and not gonna they're
not gonna line up incorrectly. They're going to be where
they're supposed to be and and they do what they've
been doing the last two or three years, and they
do it well, and it's gonna be a tough challenge
(44:25):
for us.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
But we're looking forward to it. We're looking forward.
Speaker 20 (44:28):
To going to you know, coming down here to Auburny
and playing and and seeing what we're made of.
Speaker 5 (44:33):
So it's gonna be an exciting game.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
When you look at this team and neither one of you,
you know, y'all don't know anything about them other than
what you've seen. How do you, I mean, do you
go back and look at some of the last year's
films you just strictly look at what they're doing right now.
Speaker 6 (44:44):
Well, I mean Buster shared I mean he shared them
with us from the whole year, So you know, we've
got a good, good idea of what they're doing this year.
You know, we if we saw, yeah, we saw what
they're done the first three games. They want to run
the football, they got to they had a really smar
our quarterback and like like coach Pepper said, they they
don't they don't really try to hurt themselves and No.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
They don't make a lot of mine. They did turn
two over against Poker, they did, they did.
Speaker 6 (45:09):
Yeah, but they you know, they looked good last week.
So offensive line, they got a good offensive line, and
they get to where they're supposed to get, and they like,
you know, they like the running football, and we know
that and our goal everything game is to stop the run.
So we'll put emphasis on that and try to put
our guys in a good situation.
Speaker 3 (45:28):
If you look at their team and look at your team,
similarities and opposites.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
Yeah, both of you.
Speaker 6 (45:33):
Yeah, I mean, you know, kind of give you similarly. Yeah, well,
and I'll look at from from yeah. Yeah, like their
defense that they want to you know, they got an
odd front and they want to run three four and
and you know, get there, get their good athletes of
the field side and and let their speed work. And
I'll let coach Pepper talk about their offense. But it's
(45:53):
something similar, you know, it's what we see every day
from from our offense.
Speaker 20 (45:58):
So yeah, it's if you if you did look at
it in the mirror each other, I think we have
pretty much the same fronts of same formations. We run
the power pretty much the same run the jetsuitep like
each other. A lot of passing routes are very similar,
(46:18):
and so yeah, it's it's like watching looking at each
other in the.
Speaker 5 (46:22):
In the mirror.
Speaker 20 (46:23):
But a lot of teams nowadays doing the same thing.
So you see that probably at least four to six
times a year of you know, something similar to these
that you're doing offensively and defensively.
Speaker 5 (46:35):
So gonna be at Saday.
Speaker 2 (46:37):
Night, Yeah, it is, It really should be. It's kind
of what you practice.
Speaker 6 (46:41):
Your rounds is what you play for, you know what
I mean, go against a team that a quality opponent
and now it's about execution.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
So yeah, what about numbers? Both teams y'all got his
numbers for a sideline depth? You think you have more
or less than least? God, have you noticed that?
Speaker 6 (46:56):
I think they got more on the sideline? Yeah, more play, Yeah,
I don't don't see a lot of guys coming on
and all. But about the same with us, you know
what I mean, We got them. We got about nine
to play both ways.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
Kick it y'all kicking the ends on pretty regulard you.
Speaker 6 (47:13):
Well, we want to, yeah, we want. We tried to
tell him to he can They brought that up. Yeah,
what Oh lord, I thought.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Something was going on.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
Yeah, he can, we want him to, and when he don't,
we want to know why.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
So you know, they were just missing that one.
Speaker 5 (47:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (47:25):
Now he we got a really good kicker. I mean
he's All State in the last year.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
And then we talked about it. I think he was
all state and then they were that said I thought
he was so.
Speaker 6 (47:32):
Yeah, really good kicker. And he plays wide receiver elseid
linebo fours too, so he yeah, there you go.
Speaker 5 (47:39):
There you go?
Speaker 3 (47:39):
All right, Bella at Leastcott Friday night kick off at
seven o'clock at Judge Scott Field, Gentlem.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
It's always good to see y'all. Go Bobcat appreciate.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
It in here.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
All right, you were listening to the High School Coach
Show at Mo's Barbecue, brought to you by the Orthopedic.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Click and Gory's Furniture Express. Will continue right after this.
Speaker 4 (48:01):
Welcome back to the High School Coaching Show. We're coming

five sports a Game. It's brought to you by the
Orthopedic Clinic and Gory's Furniture Express on Highway Won sixty nine.
Speaker 11 (48:14):
Pam and Jimmy.
Speaker 4 (48:15):
Gory, We'll set you up and whatever you need. Next up,
we got to coach R. J. McDonald from net High School.
Coach good Win last week against Loacha Poka Region play
Alreadian and in effect thirteen and nothing. You shut them out.
Speaker 5 (48:33):
Yeah, yeah, it was a good night.
Speaker 11 (48:35):
It was on Thursday night.
Speaker 21 (48:37):
You know, had a good crowd, bat that big, that
little rain stuff and so, uh it was.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
It was a good win.
Speaker 5 (48:43):
Man.
Speaker 21 (48:43):
That's a good ball club across the way. Coach allt
does a great job. You know, I thought our kids
came out during the week. We're kind of flat at
the start, you know, after dropping you know, a tough one.
Speaker 11 (48:52):
Down there a viewer.
Speaker 21 (48:53):
But you know they bounced back and uh practice well
about Tuesday on and.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
You know they kind of locked in and you know, and.
Speaker 21 (49:01):
It showed on on Thursday night and you know we
had we had just a great defensive effort all night long.
Speaker 16 (49:08):
Man.
Speaker 21 (49:09):
We even put them in some bad spots and Coach
Kitchens will tell you they just were resilient.
Speaker 5 (49:13):
Man.
Speaker 21 (49:14):
You know, I hate that term, ben but don't break,
but I mean it's a it's a real dead thing.
And you know they uh they responded, well, I.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Know it's a team sport, but let's talk about who
who excelled for you? Who really played?
Speaker 15 (49:28):
I give it on defensively position they set, they set
the tone, the mark. But the defensive backfield, I mean
all of them really played great, no matter when the
number was called. We had some calls gonna go back
and forth, but but poker was. It was just a
lot of one on one balls, go balls and r
DB's good positions just knock it down. And they I
thought they played really outstanding. Of course, you're gonna get
(49:48):
pennies here and there. That's gonna happen at any level.
But I thought they played outstanding from the from the
whole backfield, from Tucker to a lodge one whoodfield uh
to ta Ziggler. They played really well. And like he said,
we started the game fast.
Speaker 5 (50:00):
We keep the ball off.
Speaker 15 (50:01):
They fumbled on the opening kick off, we got it
fifteen yard penalty. Now we boom out first and goal
and then just you know, it just starts to started fast,
finally started up top and not. But like I said,
defense played like I said, lights out, played four quarters.
Speaker 4 (50:13):
Like I like it. Well, he was a good win,
all right, this week a non region game. You're playing
the team out of Georgia, Greenville, Georgia. You're gonna have
to fil me Patriss. Yeah, anything about Greenville.
Speaker 5 (50:24):
Yeah, they're they're ahead.
Speaker 11 (50:26):
You got.
Speaker 4 (50:27):
I was just gonna give you a lumbus guy.
Speaker 15 (50:28):
If you watch basketball, collb Weell Pope plays for the
Denver Nuggets when they want a title.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
Yeah, Lakers.
Speaker 4 (50:32):
That's where he's from.
Speaker 5 (50:33):
That one.
Speaker 15 (50:33):
Okay, So La Grange, Georgia about like I said, but
we talked about fifteen minutes right outside.
Speaker 5 (50:37):
Of the Grange.
Speaker 15 (50:38):
So very scrappy group them, and they're in a Manchester county.
So you've heard of Manchester High School. Sure, you know
they're the other school.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
There's the other school, okay, and so you know there.
I think they're a.
Speaker 21 (50:48):
One A one in Georgia, which is about a two
eight three a ish in Alabama. And so you know
they uh, you know, really athletic football team. They've got
probably the best player we'll see all year. I'm not
afraid to say that that kid is LEGiT's offered by
U school quarterback quarterback. So that yeah, he's about six three,
(51:10):
about one eighty five and he won the one hundred
two hundred four by one and finished second in the
four hundred. And Georgia went to Atlanta and ran and
the the big boy Race, the Atlanta Invitation, what do
they call it? All the schools coming running in Atlanta
and uh he uh, he finished first in the one hundred.
Speaker 4 (51:27):
So you tell him that he can run just a
little bit.
Speaker 21 (51:29):
You know, Uh yeah, Yeah, he's got a good arm,
very strong arm, you know, really strong arm does uh
doesn't make many bad decisions. Honestly, it was the scram
get outside the pocket. So it's gonna be key for
us this week to kind of contain him up and
and try to keep him him up in there and
you know, just let our d line do their job
and back in. Just got to cover a little bit
(51:50):
longer this week. And you know that's a tough ass,
but but can.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
We do it?
Speaker 15 (51:55):
Like you said, they did it last week, now you
ask them to do it again. Ye, Like I said,
cover a little bit longer. You know, we're gonna get
a lot of deep balls and fifty fifty balls. Yeah,
so I think we'll be we'll be prepared offensively. I
think moved the ball and like I said, the game
of attrition hopefully and we can we can wear them down.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
And it sounds like the quarterback is not only athletic
smart yeah seas.
Speaker 6 (52:16):
Yeah yeah, yeah, they play.
Speaker 21 (52:18):
They played twenty out of the twenty two both ways
is what I had counted, So a lot of guys
playing both ways. I think they got about twenty four total.
But you know, they're really sporty on defense. Uh they're
very fast, pretty big up front, you know. Uh, so
they're gonna pros lotch out. I told the coaches this
week that they remind me a lot of Low Spoker
(52:40):
as far as the way they're built athletically. And that's
just that quarterback is is a game. He's a really
good football player. So you know, I just hope we
do our job and the execute and contain and just
just hem him up.
Speaker 5 (52:54):
Man.
Speaker 6 (52:55):
That's the best way to put it.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
Now.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
I was looking at this to see you or hosting them.
They're coming to you, okay, coach Kitchen. I didn't realize that.
Speaker 6 (53:03):
The coach said, we're home for a whole month, So
you know that's good.
Speaker 4 (53:08):
Take advantage of it, Yeah, taken advantage you kind of
on the road towards the end of your season, not
the last game, but they will go three in a
row after the Yeah, after this. Yeah, So I mean
this got a I mean you got a stretch here. Hey,
you know I always asked this, and and especially from
you know, the smaller schools uh. Is anybody surprised you'd
really just stood out and you're like, man, we'll just
(53:30):
come from because we talked about the Friday night lights
because you had a linebacker do it last year, right, Yeah.
Speaker 15 (53:35):
Yeah, Like I said a couple weeks ago, it was
Brailin Chambers were going to linebackers just shut up.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
But as far as defense line, it'd be Eddie Mitchell.
Speaker 15 (53:42):
He's mainly a tight end. He's now came as a
little good pass rusher doing really well. Got two and
a half sacks last week.
Speaker 8 (53:48):
A lot of a lot of pressures, which that's yeah,
I love the pressure.
Speaker 4 (53:50):
Anything you're gonna need that this way, sir. Yeah, he
wanted to make some bad decisions for a change.
Speaker 15 (53:56):
Yes, sir, he's really surprised me on that side, and
and just and just wanted to learn it better.
Speaker 21 (54:00):
Being a basketball kid too. I definitely say Edie Mitchell's
always leading receiver on offense. About two hundred fifty yards receiving.
You know, but obviously I would definitely say Rickinseye a
tucker playing both ways, that he made a big shift
running back started for us. This weekend was absolutely phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (54:16):
All right, hey, well you know what, good luck this
week coach. I know it's a non region game, but
you want to win them, all right, good luck? Hey,
you look forward to seeing you've been listening to the
High School Coaching Show. Hey, welcome back to the High
School Coaching Show. We're coming to you live from Moe's
(54:38):
Original Barbecue right here at Bent Creek. It's brought to
you by the Orthopedic Clinic and Gory's Furniture Express and
next stuff like I promised Benjamin Russell High School's coach,
Smity Grid or good afternoon, coach.
Speaker 11 (54:49):
How are you.
Speaker 5 (54:49):
I'm doing great?
Speaker 22 (54:50):
Jeff freezing to death. Man, it feels like my living
room out here. My wife keeps it about sixty seven
and I'm cold.
Speaker 23 (54:58):
It is.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
It is a good I'll be honest with you. You know,
it's uh, you know, last year, if you remember the
first couple of shows we did, man, we were sweating
on the equipment. Yeah, but hey, big win. Last week,
you beat Clear your first region game Coach of the
year fifty five twenty eight. Let's talk about that one briefly.
Speaker 22 (55:14):
It's kind of a crazy game, Jeff. The first we held,
they got the ball first and we held them. They
punted to us and guys blocking downfield and the ball
hits him in the foot and they recovered down about
our ten yard line punts that in. Then we run
the kickoff back and uh, I mean, it was kind
of just crazy like that all night. Yeah, and it
(55:35):
was it was a you know, we got up two
scores and kind of kept that cushion and stretched it
out at halftime up thirty thirty four to fourteen, I think,
And you know, it was never it never felt safe
because their quarterback's a good player and they had some
good receivers and we I mean, they moved the ball,
but we had a kickoff return for a touchdown, we
(55:56):
blocked the field goal for a touchdown, and we had
to pick six. So, I mean, we scored three non
offensive touchdowns in the game. But we moved the ball well.
Quarterback played well. We ran the ball really effectively. Running
back had one hundred and fifty yards rushing but we
only ran like forty something plays into their seventy or
(56:17):
seventy eight.
Speaker 4 (56:18):
Yeah, it's not much, but.
Speaker 22 (56:19):
It just well, you know, you three times we didn't
have the offense, we scored and so the defense goes.
Speaker 11 (56:26):
Right back out there.
Speaker 22 (56:27):
Then we had a couple of short fields.
Speaker 6 (56:30):
But it was a good night.
Speaker 5 (56:31):
You got a good win. You know, we needed it.
Speaker 22 (56:34):
We played two really tough games to open the season
and had close losses, and you know, our kids needed
some success, and you know, we had a good night.
The weather held off, it didn't rain any We were,
you know, worried about that. You know a lot of
people moved their game to Thursday, and we kept ours
on Friday, and it worked out, it did.
Speaker 4 (56:53):
I went to a game Friday night, and I think
I was telling earl over here. I think like twelve
thirteen drops hit me.
Speaker 11 (57:00):
During the game.
Speaker 22 (57:01):
Gets started raining about fifteen minutes after we finished.
Speaker 5 (57:05):
Really yeah, while.
Speaker 4 (57:06):
We cleaned on the way home. So you're exactly right, coach,
But how's your your quarterback? This is his first years.
Speaker 5 (57:13):
Is he's doing great job?
Speaker 22 (57:16):
He's got eight touchdowns on the season with one interception. Uh,
he's still uh, you know, making some I don't, I don't.
They're not rookie mistakes. But he's he's making some he's
misreading some things. Uh and uh, he's gets a little
antsy sometimes in the pocket, but man, he's a playmaker.
He's he's made several tremendous throws while he's getting flushed
(57:37):
out of the pocket. He had a couple of important
runs Friday night to get first downs and and he's
just gonna get better.
Speaker 5 (57:45):
I'm really pleased with where he is.
Speaker 4 (57:47):
All Right, well, I'm glad. I'm glad he's settled in
your big receiver. How many touchdowns he got?
Speaker 6 (57:53):
He has five?
Speaker 22 (57:54):
I believe you know, it's, you know, same thing this week.
They they played something different than we prepared for. And
that's just how it is, you know, and we gotta
we got to adjust as the game goes. And a
lot of times he doesn't really get going to even
sometimes into the second half, and we've kind of figured
out what we can do to get him the ball.
But you know, he ended up with I don't know,
(58:16):
five or six catches in eighty something yards and a touchdown.
You know, we threw three touchdown passes on the night.
So wow, somebody's getting after it. So you know, it's
just our offense. The way is set up is we're
you know, if they're gonna do that, we're gonna run
the football if they're gonna double him. And so that's
why running back had a big night, you know, one
(58:36):
hundred and fifty yards, a couple of touchdowns, and had
a seventy or eighty yarder called back. You know, so
that that's kind of the design of our offense. And
if they want to stop the run, then now we'll
throw him the football, right, that's.
Speaker 4 (58:50):
You got to You developed another receiver though, coach, we
were talking about him during the first game where you're
yelping that to take it and he has gonna be
two guys. Yeah, and he had a.
Speaker 22 (58:59):
He had a touchdown on the night too, Jamichael Greer
and uh and we had another kid, Eric Young, who's
also a tenth grader that Jamichael's a freshman. Eric's a
tenth grader that caught about a thirty or forty yard touchdown.
So there we've got some guys emerging that that are
gonna be threats to where people will be a little
more hesitant to double sedarian.
Speaker 4 (59:20):
Yeah, all right, this week, you got your hosting children County.
You got two home games and.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
A roll coach.
Speaker 11 (59:26):
Yeah, our schedule kind of worked out that way.
Speaker 22 (59:29):
You know, we go we got these two, we have
two in a row. That's three out of our first
four at home. Then we go on the road next
week and uh, and then come back home for one
and then we'll talk about that one next week. Yeah,
Childing County's coming in and there. You know, they're I
think they're one in two or one in one. They
(59:49):
beat Jamison last week twenty eight, twenty seven. I mean,
they've got a decent team. You know, they they play
extremely hard. They got a new coach, so it's a
little bit different scheme than we've been seeing out of them.
You know, it should be a good game.
Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
Yeah, you know, been sick Safe forever.
Speaker 11 (01:00:06):
I can remember when they were in the.
Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
Region with all of the op like in Chilling County.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Yeah, I remember when they were in it.
Speaker 22 (01:00:13):
They were they weren't We never played them when I
coached it open.
Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
No, no, no, this was this was later on. This was
later on because that's that's the time we went down
they had all the wasp and the shooting house. I
was in Okay.
Speaker 22 (01:00:25):
Uh, yeah, that that stadium over there's a little they've
redone the visitors sad.
Speaker 5 (01:00:29):
Yeah, it's a little bit better.
Speaker 4 (01:00:30):
Than good because we drove too. You know, it's the concrete.
We drove up right behind the press box. Yeah yeah,
mister han Don hann madis over there. You know, coaching
I do and escorted us over there, you know early.
You know, we get there a little bit early before
the team was there, and then we had to had
to get rid of some wasp. But yeah, what what
(01:00:50):
what do they do?
Speaker 11 (01:00:50):
Coach? What do they do?
Speaker 5 (01:00:51):
Well?
Speaker 22 (01:00:52):
Well, they're uh they uh, I mean they're they try
to mix it up. They're fifty to fifty on offense,
run past, you know, it's kind of a mixture.
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Uh.
Speaker 22 (01:01:03):
They don't have like a go to guy. They spread
the ball around.
Speaker 5 (01:01:07):
Uh.
Speaker 22 (01:01:07):
The offensive line plays extremely hard. You know, they're not
They're not huge by any means. So I think the
matchup wise will be fine with US.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Uh.
Speaker 22 (01:01:16):
Their defensive front is about the same. They've got one
big kid, but other than that, you know, they're not
real big on the defensive side, so it should be
a good matchup for US.
Speaker 4 (01:01:25):
Uh.
Speaker 22 (01:01:26):
You know, it's physically we ought to build a match
up with them.
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
We were going to play, you know, like I was
going to play in one year and we're going over
there and uh, you know bub Langfordunt. Yeah, he called
in the show and said, hey, y'all, don't make it
a wrong turn and go to Maplesville.
Speaker 11 (01:01:40):
Yeah, that was.
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
That was some good bullets and board stuff for the
Maflesville team because somebody heard it.
Speaker 22 (01:01:45):
Yeah, you know Jamison, uh, Chilton County in Maplesville, they're
all that county and everybody, everybody. I've had some friends
coach at some of those schools and they say that
they cater to Maplesville.
Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
I've heard that too. Where's stores beat coach? There used
to be Jamison's big ride.
Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
Wal I don't know.
Speaker 22 (01:02:02):
It's somewhere around there. Don't ask me questions I can't answer.
All right, Hey, something.
Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Up if you want to know, that's all right, good luck.
Speaker 5 (01:02:09):
Hey.
Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
I hope it stays dry, but I'm that it may be.
Speaker 22 (01:02:11):
Well, I'm I'm worried about that, you know, killing our
crowd more than anything and then just battling.
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
Then.
Speaker 22 (01:02:16):
I don't think it's gonna be like constant. I think
it'll be you know, gonna get some waves come through
and all that, and I'm just hoping it gets north
far enough that we're out from under.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
I hope so too.
Speaker 5 (01:02:26):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
Good luck this weekend. We'll look forward to talking to
you next Wednesday on the High School Coach Show. Up next,
Ula high School. You're listening to a high school coach
so on Fox Sports The Game Man, Welcome back to

Speaker 5 (01:02:58):
Over you good Jeff, how do you do it? Glad
to be here.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
I know you're doing good. Three and oh coach, you
make your way into the AHS a AHS A first year.
You start out the season with win over Excel.
Speaker 8 (01:03:10):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:03:10):
The next week you play Loch Poker you beat them,
and then Childersburg your first reagion game.
Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
Yeah, runner by kids Man.
Speaker 24 (01:03:16):
You know we we uh wasn't worried, but going into HSA,
you know there's a lot of unknown, you know how
our kids are gonna react and uh the kind of
teams we're gonna play, but proud of them. They have
stepped up to the challenge and uh you know, good
to start three and oh and uh first of reagion
win and uh.
Speaker 5 (01:03:32):
So just trying to move on that and try to
get better.
Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
Let's briefly talk about Childrensburg.
Speaker 24 (01:03:36):
Coachas all right, Uh you know Childersburg is that's my
first time up there. Coach Johnson up there. You know,
I think it's his third year being a head coach. Uh,
he's been there a long time. I think he's basketball
also good buck of good, good, good looking kids out there.
You know, they just they hadn't jailed yet as a team,
and uh coach Johnson is trying to get them better
(01:03:56):
and he'll get there, I said, in his third year,
uh being the head coach and just just having a
little struggle right now and getting them, getting them where
he wants them to be.
Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
Now, you brought two players with you, Christian Horrak and
uh sure what positions fellas?
Speaker 5 (01:04:11):
Linebacker?
Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
Okay, wide receiver, wide receiver. How do how have y'all
felt since you first year in the league?
Speaker 5 (01:04:18):
Now, I felt confident.
Speaker 9 (01:04:20):
Yeah, I feel like we're showing how people we can
play and showing people that we can play with the
public teams.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Yeah, yeah, have you all enjoyed that?
Speaker 8 (01:04:29):
Yes, sir?
Speaker 11 (01:04:31):
Can you Is there any difference?
Speaker 5 (01:04:33):
There is a difference.
Speaker 23 (01:04:34):
I teams are a lot bigger, a lot more physical,
and they have a lot more depth.
Speaker 11 (01:04:39):
What about speed?
Speaker 9 (01:04:41):
Oh yeah, there's a lot of good you can tell.
Speaker 5 (01:04:43):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
I was looking at uh this week, you got BU
they're three and they're having a good BU three. You know,
they're having a good season. What do you what do
you want to talk about it? Well, you know what
you mean asking them about.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
His head set off.
Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
Y'all been watching them too. They've watched as much film
as you, coach.
Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
They do watch I'm back, I'm back. Yeah, No, Uh,
they do watch film.
Speaker 24 (01:05:04):
We try to get them to watch a lot more,
but they don't watch as much as a coach.
Speaker 5 (01:05:08):
You know, that's our job. Yeah, yeah, I know, you
just kidding.
Speaker 24 (01:05:11):
But now they do watch film, and they actually watch
more of film this week, I think. Then they have
the other three games, so they they're trying to figure
things out. But but yeah, looking forward to this game.
Speaker 5 (01:05:22):
This week.
Speaker 24 (01:05:22):
You know, I've been around Bureau a long time and
you grew up in Valley. You never had to play
them in anything. But we're looking forward to this game. Yeah,
that's right, coach.
Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
You know I was, I was looking at your at
your scores. You have similar scores. You both are averaging
about thirty five points a game. Both of you are
giving up sixteen. Of course no like opponent either, so
there's nothing to compare it to.
Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:05:40):
What do you see in Buleu?
Speaker 24 (01:05:41):
I see a team is very well coached, you know
they I've known coach Pepper's a long time. You know
coach Johnson a long time. You know they're they're very
well coached. They do things the right way. They do
a lot of different things on offense, you know, and
which has got to keep us on our toes. You know,
they just based three or four defense and let's say
do change something this week. But it's real similar to
what we've seen so far. But again they'll be you know,
(01:06:03):
one of the best coaches coach teams we played.
Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
Are they gonna try to run the ball or they
mix it up?
Speaker 5 (01:06:07):
They mix it up pretty good.
Speaker 24 (01:06:08):
They gotta look athletic quarterback you can really run, you know,
if you got we got to keep him contained.
Speaker 5 (01:06:13):
But they mix it up really well.
Speaker 24 (01:06:15):
You know, I'm not saying it's fifty to fifty, but
they throw the ball a little bit, but they do
run the ball more.
Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Yes, what have you seen on film, Christian?
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:06:22):
The wings and whatnot.
Speaker 9 (01:06:24):
They're they're going with the wings with their strong side
and whatnot. And you'll you'll figure out why watching film
you can see where they're going on the ball more
often with watching a lot more film. And the quarterback
if he needs to throw, he can sling it down
the field.
Speaker 5 (01:06:37):
You can.
Speaker 23 (01:06:38):
It's there now your receiver and dB receiver kick return,
punt return a little bit to dB?
Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
Okay, what do you? What are you? What are you
gonna have to do on your side of the ball?
Are you playing receiver more than anything? Yes, sir, okay.
Speaker 23 (01:06:51):
But mainly what I've noticed is their kicker. We haven't
really based the team with the good kicker yet. And
he's gonna be able to punt it and kicking into them?
Speaker 5 (01:07:01):
Then?
Speaker 4 (01:07:01):
Is there was there kicker all state last year? Was
was Beuli's kicker All State last season? You know what
I think he was? I think the brought immediate days.
If I'm not mistaken, I think that did bring. If
I'm not mistaken to it could have been Boardger no more.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
You know what, it was one of them, but got
a good, good program.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
Is that what you got? Talked to him both we
were talking about the kicker they got. This is the
first team they played that has a good kicker. Yeah,
that they've seen on films. So yeah, so you're going
to be does he kick it in the N zone?
Speaker 6 (01:07:28):
He's kicking in Yeah, he can kick it in there.
Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
You're not gonna get in return much then probably then
I would kick it in on every time. Now you
had a guy that did that every time.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Yeah, he did last year. That's right. Now, Christian, You
have you played any you didn't play any offense.
Speaker 9 (01:07:41):
To you, sir, I've been trying to learn the plays
this year in the last week.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Learn them to do what?
Speaker 4 (01:07:48):
What position? I guess why? What's why? Okay, okay, all right.
I was gonna say, if he's a running back, you
just put a put a rock in his hand, which
going and.
Speaker 11 (01:08:00):
He's smarter man.
Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
All right, Christian.
Speaker 1 (01:08:02):
So you had a couple of surgeons in the off
season that that you've been able you've been weathering that
that their have you been handling that?
Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
Pretty good?
Speaker 9 (01:08:09):
I mean it wasn't really a set but setback I've
been I've kind of been on the pace where I
left off.
Speaker 5 (01:08:15):
I really didn't miss a beat or anything.
Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
There you go everything and slowed down a bed.
Speaker 23 (01:08:19):
Huh that's their.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Coach over agree, didn't you?
Speaker 23 (01:08:22):
All?
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
So how much have y'all been able to rotate out there?
Have y'all been able to get some depth?
Speaker 5 (01:08:26):
Coach? Have you been able to?
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Have you been able to rotate?
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
So?
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
Oh? Yeah? We rotate on both sides.
Speaker 24 (01:08:32):
You know, we guys had to play both sides the
ball of course a lot. Uh, we're trying to develop
more depth. But still you got you gotta put the
You gotta put the best guys on the pill.
Speaker 2 (01:08:41):
Whatever you can.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Yeah, I just know, No, I just know as you
continue on that that's gonna you know, the weathers get better,
but I know you'll continue to your schedule gets tough.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
It's important to create depth because.
Speaker 24 (01:08:52):
You never know when when guys gonna get banged up
and not be able to play. You know, we lost
we lost Barry Cook last week.
Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
You know.
Speaker 24 (01:08:58):
Uh that was that was a starting on her and
he broke his collar bone. Had to be on a
block punt. We blocked the punt. He's trying to scoop
and score. Uh Childsburg kid you know, pushed him down
and knocked him down.
Speaker 5 (01:09:10):
What anyfel on him? So but yeah, so you never know.
Speaker 24 (01:09:12):
So we got to develop guys that are ready to
play any time because you know football and you want
to play away from being the starter. So we're trying
to develop that depth on all over the field.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
So two quarterback system coach.
Speaker 5 (01:09:23):
Yep, still gonna do that.
Speaker 24 (01:09:24):
I think they both bring something specials of the game
at different times.
Speaker 5 (01:09:28):
Both good leaders.
Speaker 24 (01:09:29):
But yeah, we're gonna continue to play them both right now.
Speaker 4 (01:09:31):
All right, Well, hey, at least Scott has an undefeated
beauty this week at at home.
Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Is at home.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Yes, the first time they've ever been to your.
Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
Plus, I think so. I think so there in.
Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
A while since you've been to your Plus.
Speaker 24 (01:09:42):
It seems like, yeah, you know that Pee team played
over there bout a week or so ago. Yeah, so
it's it's new for everybody. I'm looking for a good
crowd Friday night and looking forward to playing Bulah Hey.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Well, good luck, coach, Thank you. W It's good to
see you.
Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
Christian. Nice meeting you, Harrison, nice meeting you. Good luck.
That's coach Buster Daniel Christian Hoak, Harrison Short. We at
least got academy. Next up Benjaminros's high school coach MIDI
writer to the High School Coaches Show.
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
And were welcoming back to MOS Barbecue here in Arburn,
Ben Creek.
Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
I appreciate Ricky Carmack and his whole staff here at
MOS at Ben Creek. He also has some one downtown
good food here.
Speaker 8 (01:10:35):
I enjoyed every time.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Coach Jason Allen with us the chambers of academy. It
is good, isn't it?
Speaker 5 (01:10:40):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:10:40):
What did you order?
Speaker 8 (01:10:42):
I ordered the shrimp mow boy?
Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
What is that?
Speaker 8 (01:10:47):
It's a shrimp po boy? But they say I have
to play on words, right.
Speaker 11 (01:10:53):
Let me tell you what I did.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
One week, Coach, I went over the you know we
have a you know what we do, folks, is we
feed our coat.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
She's in there. You know, each of them in their
wife or whoever. We take care of them. And I
was looking at the we were counting on the week
there were more shoot wings, yeah, wings blew them away.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
They got great one eighteen tickets twelve by more wings.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Yeah, how about that yet?
Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
Us?
Speaker 8 (01:11:22):
I like my favorite football play to buck sweep. If
it was around eighteen plays twelve times, I'm probably gonna
run the buck sweep.
Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
And here I'll say that, here's six catfish platters right
here in front.
Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
Excuse me? Got a call?
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
All right, coach Allen? Then this let me kill my clothes.
Sorry about that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Hey, what a beautiful night it is of temperature wise, coach,
you're sitting here at two one forty eight sixteen easy
win last week over the Bay Across Academy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
It was in Montgomery. Talked to us about that game.
Speaker 8 (01:11:51):
Yeah, really, you know, the conditions were poor, and so
were they Poe. They were Poe, and but I was
really proud of our kids. We didn't put the ball
on the ground. I think you know, that's something we
really harp on big about. Don't put that thing down
there on the ground, because if you do, you just
don't know what's gonna happen, you know. And so we
did a great job with that. We controlled a line
(01:12:12):
of scrimmage and we were up. We had forty eight
points at the half, and we just shut her down.
And I was really proud of where our kids played
by it. Cross was very athletic a lot they were
more athletic than us. But our kids are hard nosed,
and we got out of the butt and whooped them
on a line of scrimmage and uh, excuse me, that's
that's a lot of times where that's that's every time
(01:12:33):
where football games decided up there on a lot of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
You know, I'm gonna say this before you get in jail.
One thing I noticed, I've seen it back. Did they
play at least got last year?
Speaker 11 (01:12:42):
They did?
Speaker 2 (01:12:43):
Okay, so the last four years I've watched them.
Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
Since they've been a school. But we're playing football as
a school. They probably played all too.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
I guess I've watched them every year. I guess Jeff's right,
good point. Yeah, they're always had big kids, coach.
Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
Now, I don't know about this year, but they had
big kids, very big.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
So you mentioned that, didn't you about there? So they
were big again.
Speaker 8 (01:13:06):
And one of the receivers on the outside was six
six and I think he's committed downbound State and basketball,
and the other one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
Coach I saw him. He's a good basketball player. I
watched him play basketball.
Speaker 8 (01:13:14):
The other one six four and he's the top ranked
sophomore in state Alabama.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
And you know, I didn't realize he was a sophomore.
Speaker 8 (01:13:21):
Yeah, the other one was, and they had two divisions.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
They went to the you know they were they went down,
Yeah anyway in basketball, but go ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:13:29):
I was just saying, it's a team that every year
you see all the athletes and you keep keep waiting
for him to be have that team.
Speaker 11 (01:13:35):
It's just gonna be hard to beat.
Speaker 8 (01:13:37):
Yeah, you just hope they don't figure it out when
they play.
Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
You know, I think that it's almost scary. Sometimes you
just don't ever know what you're gonna get. I've seen
him play some really good games. I think one year
I watched them play like a twenty one to twenty
game and at least got you know, so I mean, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
You got them, coach, give me some kids to play
well for you.
Speaker 8 (01:13:53):
Uh well, our offensive line played really well. I'm just
you know, those guys don't get talked about enough, but
just really proud of the way they block them. We're
we're a line of scrimmers team. When we get after
you upfront, and we're gonna be physical, and those guys
don't get enough credit. But Luke Tarvor, he's our returning
All State player and he's just he's just a great player,
(01:14:14):
a great kid, just hard nosed, and I thought that
we got another kid. TJ. Daniel has been playing really
well for US on defense. He's a second year player,
transferred to US from Hanley out of Roanoak as a junior,
and he's really settled in to being a Chambers Chambers
boy now and play in our system. And so but
(01:14:34):
but really all of them, our quarterbacks really starting to
play well. It's his first year, but he's really a
great runner for us. He's added another dimension to our
offense with his legs and so just really it was
a good week. We're getting better, that's the thing. We
want to keep getting better every week. And that was
our first region win, which is huge. Our goal is
to win that region so we can stay at home
in the playoffs like everybody else is sixteen.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
You had Edgewood Academy coach this Friday night.
Speaker 1 (01:15:01):
Let's see, this is a twenty third meeting against Edgewood.
Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
It was thirty eight six good guys.
Speaker 8 (01:15:07):
Last year, yep, we had a win.
Speaker 2 (01:15:09):
Last year, which means nothing this year.
Speaker 8 (01:15:12):
That's correct, That's correct. Coach Chad Michael. He's a really
good coach, and we played him about the last four
or five years row and he always gives us some
schematic problems. He gives us some issues. And when you
play somebody a lot like that, they kind of you know,
you kind of know each other pretty well, so it
kind of scares you. So we're gonna have to be
prepared for what they're going to try to do. They
(01:15:33):
usually throw a few wrinkles at us. But you know,
I feel like if we'll just block well and tackle
well and play the game physical like we've been playing,
that I hope will be okay.
Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Friday nights.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
Is this game here kind of a this is a
it's kind of turned into a rivalry too. And he
coach as far as you know, one year they beat
you in the regular season, you beat them pretty good
in the playoffs, isn't that correct?
Speaker 8 (01:15:53):
Correct? Yeah? That was our That was our twenty twenty
year when my son Peyton was a senior and we
had that really good team and the eight and we
were number two or three in the league and were
undefeated and went to their place at six and oho
and got upset. And that was probably the best thing
that happened to our team that year because we refocused
and uh, we figured out what we needed to get
(01:16:15):
better at. Our team pulled together and we ended up
winning the rest of them, winning the state championship, beating
those guys in the semi finals. Pretty good that year. So, yeah,
you know, it's funny how a loss can do one
or two things. It could either make you better, it
can really pull your team apart.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Well, really, it really made you better coach that year
twenty Is it been that far back to Yeah, time flies,
doesn't it. Yeah, when you last year almost are year
before or something like that. They really, but you've had
fun every year. You've had fun every year.
Speaker 8 (01:16:43):
Can I tell you what ten years I'm getting to do.
But I'm getting to do what I love to do.
And they old man told me one time, if you
love what you do, you'll never work a day in
your life. And so I'm enjoying coaching all three teams again,
and uh, I feel like we've got a good programs
or we're building young men, trying to grow them into
what they need to be. Is from a husband and
a father, and a and a citizen in our community.
(01:17:06):
That's what we're trying to get to. When we're using
the football game as a is a wonderful way to
do that.
Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
Well, Coach, good luck, good luck against Edgewood.
Speaker 8 (01:17:14):
It's Friday, right, Yes, Friday at Chambers our first home game.
Speaker 24 (01:17:17):
We're going.
Speaker 8 (01:17:17):
We're looking for a huge crowd.
Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
We've made that schedule on the road three weeks and rose.
Speaker 8 (01:17:22):
We've been road Rowyers.
Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
It's gonna be good to get home.
Speaker 8 (01:17:25):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:17:26):
Hey, everybody show up, have a big crowd. Coach, thanks,
Edwood travel good they usually do, Okay, good. Hey that's
a coach, Jason Allen. Oh why didn't Welcome back to
the High School Coaching Show. We're coming to you live
(01:17:47):
from Moe's Original Barbecue and it's brought to you by
the Orthopedic Clinic and Gory's Furniture Express on HIW. We
won sixty nine. Next up is Russell County and coach
Brandon Barnes receivers coach. You said you had another time coach,
past game coordinator, receivers coach, past game coordinator, tell you
white coach, it's good to meet you. This is this
first time you've been on the show.
Speaker 11 (01:18:07):
Yeah, this is the first time.
Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
All right, we're good.
Speaker 4 (01:18:09):
It's it's good to have you here. That big win
last week against Wa Tamka twenty one seventeen. You want
to talk about that one.
Speaker 25 (01:18:16):
Yeah, this is the first time we beat we talked
because since two thousand and one. So this is a
really big win for us. Kind of puts us at
win in Earth in the region. So big win. Any
time you can win in the region, big.
Speaker 4 (01:18:27):
Win, you know, you know, you know what it's really
when the look, you want to win every game, but
the season really starts when you get into region play. Yeah,
I think he wants you to swap back. Go ahead, coach.
The season really starts when the region starts. You're want
to oher in the region. Got another region game coming
up this week, fersty Julian, that's Friday. We're staying with Friday, right.
Speaker 11 (01:18:48):
Well, actually it is tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
Oh okay, yeah tomorrow. It says nine thirteen on here here.
Speaker 11 (01:18:55):
Yo, we played on tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
Okay, So you're going to Crafting Bowl, Yes, sir, you
ever played it or been in the game.
Speaker 11 (01:19:01):
I went to Alabama State, so I'm very familiar with
the great for me.
Speaker 4 (01:19:04):
Okay, they didn't have the new stadium then when you
were there.
Speaker 11 (01:19:07):
Uh well, we was transition.
Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
Transition first, and you know a lot of the schools
used to have to especially like a Thursday night television game.
I've seen no I could get pushed a Saturday night
because Alabama State had a Thursday night TV games.
Speaker 11 (01:19:19):
Yeah, yeah, so.
Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
You know that that years ago, But I mean it
happens of course, right all right, h Percy, Judi and coach,
let's talk about them. They they're just now moving back
into six. There were seven a last year. A few
years ago, they really had a good run and almost
made it to the championship game. I don't know that
they're that that type of team now. I'm not really sure.
Maybe you can enlighten us well.
Speaker 25 (01:19:41):
From what I've seen from Percy Julian on film, They're
they're pretty good team.
Speaker 11 (01:19:44):
They got athletes all over there.
Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
I always do.
Speaker 25 (01:19:47):
They have a D lineman I think in Cansissippi State
commit So you got to make sure we keep eyes
on him because you know he can have it in
the past game and the run games I.
Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
Just last week and the game y'all, y'all mention up
your running past pretty pretty well.
Speaker 7 (01:20:04):
Uh, we're trying to be a well balanced offense.
Speaker 11 (01:20:06):
Uh.
Speaker 25 (01:20:07):
We have a really good running back. He's been you know,
highly productive in the past game as well as the
run game.
Speaker 11 (01:20:13):
So we try to get the ball in his hands.
Got a pretty good group of receivers as well.
Speaker 25 (01:20:17):
And then our quarterback he's he's growing up, he's growing developing.
Speaker 11 (01:20:21):
Yeah, he's developed pretty much pretty good for you know,
since last week.
Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
What's your quarterback time?
Speaker 11 (01:20:26):
Because Bryson Riggins.
Speaker 4 (01:20:28):
Riggins like, who's your who's your number.
Speaker 11 (01:20:30):
One receiver right now? Number one receiver? Denver Harper right now?
Ja and Jamari Burnett, I say one a on one beat.
Speaker 4 (01:20:38):
Okay, don't y'all, don't y'all have I ship y'all had
a freshman either running back a receiver that was that
we need to.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
Look for in the future.
Speaker 25 (01:20:46):
Yeah, So we have a running back, freshman running back
and Chris Lucas.
Speaker 11 (01:20:51):
Chris Lucas, he's pretty good.
Speaker 25 (01:20:53):
He's he's one of those freshmen that's rare, Like he's
already you know, getting snaps on varsity level, right, so
you know.
Speaker 11 (01:21:00):
You keep out of them in the future because he's
gonna be a guy.
Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
All right, what we're gonna have to do the big persecuting.
Speaker 25 (01:21:06):
We're just gonna have to play a complete game of
football four quarters. It's probably gonna rain, so we're gonna
have to be hard. Nos, we just gonna have to
come to play, because I know they're gonna come to play.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
So you got every field too?
Speaker 4 (01:21:18):
Now has terff? I mean there's still some natural turf fields,
right they have you counted to see how many how
many how many fields are you gonna play on the
season or that are turf and how many will be
natural surfaces?
Speaker 11 (01:21:30):
I know Boar Guard from one board guard it has
grass right?
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
Non region game though, yeah, non region.
Speaker 11 (01:21:36):
I'm not sure about Rohoba. I played against Rohopes in
high school.
Speaker 25 (01:21:40):
They had grass being so I don't know if they
updated the field or not.
Speaker 11 (01:21:44):
But those are the only two that I can think of.
Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
Well, I know half of your games that Russell County
are gonna be on turf, so that's half of them
going to crafton Bowl. So that'll make six right right?
Speaker 11 (01:21:53):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Was what tumka is it?
Speaker 11 (01:21:55):
And then we got Pike rolls. Pike rolls on turf.
Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
Okay, so rain won't be that big a difference, I
mean a problem for you.
Speaker 11 (01:22:00):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (01:22:01):
Thank you for coming in. It's night Coach Brandon Barnes,
Receivers coaching passing coordinator.
Speaker 11 (01:22:05):
Glad to have you.
Speaker 4 (01:22:06):
I'm glad you were here. It's good to meet you. You
coming next week. Whatever Coach Griggs will need to do,
all right, Hey up next Chambers Academy.
Speaker 11 (01:22:15):
You're listening to the.
Speaker 4 (01:22:16):
High School Coaches Show right here a Fox Sports The Game.
Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
Back at Mose Barbecue, Original Barbecue, Bent Creek and Auburn High.
Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
School Coaches Show right here on Fox Sports. The Game nine, ten, thirteen, ten,
and ninety seven point seven. Kicker Dan Martin, Mitchell, Jeff Sasser, Jason.
Speaker 1 (01:22:45):
Lee, and Van Riggs were all here at Mo's Barbecue
on the veranda patio.
Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Whatever you want to call it beautiful. Although it is rain,
it's been a beautiful day as far as temperature wise.
Getting off kind of football weather.
Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
Teams will be playing their fourth game, some third, but
it's the fourth week of playing Week three in the HSA,
and we're gonna talk to uh Loach of poker. The
Indians are ohing to they lost their They did not
play in the first week they had their game when
it was Souga canceled Week two, which was Week one
in the HSA.
Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
At least got beat Poker Berry close twenty one to eighteen.
Speaker 1 (01:23:24):
And last week Lynette thirteen nothing I got Brandon Hall
coaches from poker coach good, Coach Stone.
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't get hit. There you go,
I was there you go, Coach Stone. Coach Hall. All right, y'all, good, good, good,
good good Coach Hall. Good to see you.
Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
Let's talk a little bit about last week thirteen nothing
to Lynette, talk a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:23:43):
About that loss.
Speaker 26 (01:23:43):
Yeah, we we came out flow a little bit. You
know what we we played. I think we played.
Speaker 5 (01:23:48):
Great defense on that football and we just couldn't get
the zone. Couldn't capitalize on a couple of stakes.
Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
Pull the ball down and there you go this right here,
Max got yes.
Speaker 26 (01:23:57):
Third a hand might check, but uh yeah, we're bombing
the ball down in the red zone. It was at
the five yard line. We couldn't get in and uh
we had a couple we drove the ball well just
to have we just capitalized. But uh, to be honest
with you, this is our our first week. Really know
all make excuses my faults. She had the boys really
(01:24:18):
to play do better job of the head coach.
Speaker 5 (01:24:20):
But this is our.
Speaker 26 (01:24:21):
First week of really, in my eyes, getting back to
where we were before everything hitting. I feel I feel
good being that about the way we're attacking things.
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
Which yeah, good, that is good, and that that that's
probably something that you would only know about being there
and knowing those kids.
Speaker 2 (01:24:38):
So that's a good thing.
Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
Coach, you want to mention anything about the game, you know,
I don't want to say on negative too much and
then we'll move on to this week.
Speaker 27 (01:24:44):
But I just d cod with Coach Hall's head. I think,
you know, we got to get up, get out of
our own way. You know, we're doing a lot of
things to shoot ourselves in the foot, and you know,
it's hard to win a ball game that way. You know,
we're playing great defense where it's a team ball game.
You know, you got to execute all three phrases. That's offense,
special teams in defensive. You know, you can play well
defensively and not so well the other two and you
(01:25:06):
lose the ball game.
Speaker 5 (01:25:07):
And that's what we've been doing.
Speaker 27 (01:25:08):
So we've been kind of honing in on this cleaning
up our play special teams in and offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
It's all important.
Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
We're talking PoCA football looking for their first win. La
fatte coach reagion game. Yes, sir, the fat they're two
and one. Coach wins does a good job.
Speaker 5 (01:25:22):
They lost their.
Speaker 3 (01:25:23):
First game last week and a close one nineteen fourteen
to Ranburgh. Talk a little bit about playing they're at
your place, but talk a little bit about playing La
fair Yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:25:32):
Good.
Speaker 26 (01:25:32):
The football team athletes, you know they got athletes are
flying around the field. They played, they played good start
at football. They're well coached team. They got they got
a good offense and their defense flies around as well.
So there'll be a good test for us coming in
this week on this third game of outsteason.
Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
Excuse me, coach, I agree with that.
Speaker 3 (01:25:51):
They seem to have in there obviously last week the
head of them. They seem to have scored a lot
of points in their first two games.
Speaker 26 (01:25:58):
The first three games, coach some points against All Yeah, Elwood, Christian,
they scored some points against All Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:26:04):
I got all right here on the Handville and they.
Speaker 5 (01:26:06):
Still score points against They scored fourteen around.
Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:26:09):
They didn't have as men.
Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
They were in the forties in.
Speaker 26 (01:26:11):
Their first two games, cause they got some guys flying around. Now,
you know, they always have athletes down there infect and
uh they do. They do a good job.
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
All right, you.
Speaker 1 (01:26:18):
Missed, Yeah it was it was let's see thirty eight,
excuse me, forty one and thirty eight.
Speaker 3 (01:26:25):
Now the it was verse. Yeah, look, thank you. Yeah,
I was sitting here, Thank you very much. There is
forty nine and forty one.
Speaker 5 (01:26:33):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:26:34):
And then last week fourteen, all right, coming back to
your home.
Speaker 11 (01:26:38):
You missed.
Speaker 1 (01:26:39):
The kids seem to be doing a little bit better
mentally and all that. Finally understand that. Now we'll say
the game I saw against the police got of coase.
They made some pleasure secondary they never quit, so I
was very impressed with that.
Speaker 26 (01:26:50):
Yeah, you know they played, they played, they played bell
to bell. Now the one thing they played bill to bell,
you know. So we just got a minimunic mistakes.
Speaker 5 (01:26:57):
That's the key.
Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
Yeah, we want to go in that minimuntha mistakes.
Speaker 26 (01:27:00):
So we're have an opportunity to play always simplify some
things offensively, you know, So we'll we'll give an opportunity
to fly un.
Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
Fly playing in home coach, how about that I'm poored
that it's good.
Speaker 5 (01:27:09):
Good to be at home front the home crowd. You know,
it's a.
Speaker 11 (01:27:12):
Good community down there.
Speaker 26 (01:27:13):
Yes, it's for a win, you know, and we're going
to do our best to give it to them, you know.
And they they're excited, they're still excited. Everything is still
going fine, you know, just excited about it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
I was. I was impressed with the that's the least
got game.
Speaker 1 (01:27:28):
How many people when I at halftime went attempted to
go to the restaurant.
Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
It was amazing. I mean, people around that fence because
y'all got them everywhere a lot of people. I did
a lot of socializing too.
Speaker 5 (01:27:38):
So popular guy, make no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Ricas crowd all up in the Yeah, most both. He
was right there.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
But I was impressed with the crowd. So I know,
I know it's you know, it's good to get back home.
So I'm glad to see you doing that, all right, coach?
With about e JV teams or middle schools before we.
Speaker 26 (01:28:01):
Go, yeah there. We had a JV game last night.
It went over time. We was up on all the
fet it went over time. We end up losing about
two Parker versions.
Speaker 5 (01:28:10):
We played. The guys played well they played. They played
real good man.
Speaker 3 (01:28:13):
Play those JV games. No doubt those kids in the game.
All right, you see, I got all your players. Everybody's
still here. Good to go there, you.
Speaker 1 (01:28:20):
Go, keep them out there playing. All right, guys, Thank
y'all for your time. Enjoy your meal tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
Thank y'all.
Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
Poker there you go to Coach Brandon Hall. Those poking
Indians at home this week. They got little Fette in
a big region game. We're gonna take a break. We've
got Russell County the Warriors. When we come back to
Moe's Barbecue.
Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
All right, welcome back to the high school Coaching Show.
We're coming to you line from Moe's Original Barbecue. And
up next, I was brought to you by the Orthopedic
Clinty and Glory's Furniture Express. The next up's coach Joey
Burch at Springwood High School. Coach, good afternoon, how.
Speaker 11 (01:29:08):
Are you man?
Speaker 5 (01:29:08):
We're doing great? How about you?
Speaker 4 (01:29:10):
And now you got to introduce the guys you brought
with you.
Speaker 28 (01:29:12):
I got two guys. I got our defensive coordinator, Hunter Plant.
He's coached with us the last three years and doing
a great job. And I've got our leading tackler, our
little linebacker and a guard on offense.
Speaker 5 (01:29:22):
Tucker sides unior this year?
Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
Have they been some more side? Are you the first
sides there? Second?
Speaker 17 (01:29:28):
Brother?
Speaker 4 (01:29:29):
So I thought so, yeah, coach, last week, let's talk
briefly about Southern Prep not far from y'all. Really, I thought,
what twenty minutes.
Speaker 28 (01:29:36):
Oh thirty minutes saithing mop Okay, it's a good rivalry.
We enjoy playing each other, We get after it, and
we like winning. So it all turned out good for us.
Speaker 4 (01:29:46):
Who were some of the What are some of the
highlights we want? It must not be many low I'm
forty four points code.
Speaker 6 (01:29:52):
Wow, we did a good job. Brought Tucker.
Speaker 28 (01:29:53):
Tucker, like I said, he makes about twelve fourteen tackles
a game four, so brought him along.
Speaker 5 (01:29:59):
Talking little bit.
Speaker 8 (01:30:00):
Of course. C J had a great game.
Speaker 6 (01:30:02):
We rode him, probably a little too much.
Speaker 28 (01:30:04):
He had forty six cars for four hundred yards and
it was just an old school bam bam bam football game.
Speaker 4 (01:30:10):
Wow, he had a date, didn't it?
Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
He had a day.
Speaker 28 (01:30:12):
I didn't know you were in that much until after
the game, and I felt bad about it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
What coach playing defensive coordinator. Yep, you got your leading tackling.
What was a twenty eight points coach? What was was that?
Speaker 5 (01:30:23):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:30:24):
By the way, at the end of the game, I.
Speaker 29 (01:30:25):
Think I think it was too much. We missed a
lot of tackles. I've blessed some majority of the players.
We're gonna run downhill and we're gonna take it between
the tackles, and at the end of the day we
got a w.
Speaker 4 (01:30:34):
So I'm fine with that. But you know, twenty eight points.
Speaker 11 (01:30:37):
Is a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:30:37):
So well, I mean, you scored. As long as you
score more.
Speaker 7 (01:30:41):
School morning get to win, I'm fine.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
I'm good with twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:30:45):
Ay, next week, coach, I want to say that this
week your Friday night or Thursday, we're gonna go Friday Friday.
Speaker 1 (01:30:53):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:30:54):
Cornerstone, very familiar opponent.
Speaker 5 (01:30:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 28 (01:30:56):
We've played on the I think five times over the
last three year years, and most of the games, that'scept
the championship game, have been you know, tit and tat
just come down to the very end. They've been an
overtime game and championship game. Of course, we were hit with
a bunch of injuries and kind of fell apart, but
other than that, it's been been been very competitive, and
(01:31:17):
you know, they've got a season team. They've returned all
of their starters back this year, and we've had a
good week of practice and we're looking forward to going
down there and give them the shot.
Speaker 4 (01:31:26):
The eight play both ways.
Speaker 28 (01:31:27):
Yeah, I mean it ain't man pretty much.
Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
You probably okay, I didn't know you know how yeah,
you know if they did that. I mean, do you
have do you have anybody that only plays on one
side the ball?
Speaker 28 (01:31:37):
Ah, we normally play ten. We have two that don't
play offense, and too don't play defense.
Speaker 5 (01:31:43):
And but everybody else like Tucker.
Speaker 28 (01:31:45):
We'd love to get him out of the game, and
we make plans every week to get him out of
the game. And we look up and he's played every
single play.
Speaker 4 (01:31:52):
We're talking. Coming about your game last week.
Speaker 30 (01:31:54):
I mean it was pretty good hitting the game. I
missed a tackle and it just made me.
Speaker 4 (01:32:00):
Now, when you miss you just like grabbed the air.
He's like, yeah, they didn't. He didn't break your ankles, did.
Speaker 30 (01:32:07):
I just I just ever pursued, didn't really break down.
But you know, next couple of plays, it comes after
they scored a touchdown on that play, big run, and
then you know, we stopped them, went on offense and scored.
So I mean, I think I had a pretty good game.
Just just got tired towards the end though, But I
mean I just had to push through only my fault.
Speaker 4 (01:32:27):
That's what a good coach does, he takes the blame.
Cornerstone coach, What do you see?
Speaker 29 (01:32:32):
Just keep it simple, saying like we said when I'm
talking before, it's been the same team last four years.
We played them so and in my honest opinion, we
had a limited big play. They're known for that, So
keep it simple and keep them in the pocket.
Speaker 4 (01:32:45):
So they're a big play team. They rely on that.
They are they as far as throwing run? Are they
gonna throw more than run? Are they gonna mix it
up pretty good? They tends to look for the run
a little bit more, but when he airs it out,
he'll air it out.
Speaker 29 (01:32:59):
So I got a limit that on the backside and
play defense.
Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
So he's looking for the big shot every time.
Speaker 29 (01:33:04):
If it ain't coming through his legs, that's coming through
his arm. He's looking for someone deep and like like
we've told our guys preached on it all week, is
play through the whistle. You guard your man to the
whistles there and then we make the tackle. We're gonna
play through the whistle the.
Speaker 4 (01:33:16):
Stud the quarterback is he the last week? Adam?
Speaker 28 (01:33:19):
Adam. He's an exceptional player, he really is. He's top
notch and and he should be playing on Saturdays next
year somewhere.
Speaker 4 (01:33:27):
Well, he's you. You've played against him, right, Hugh Zeka,
y'all played each other. Well, like you said, five times
in two years, twice last year, right, was it twice
last year? Yes, twice a year before us and looking
at look hopeful it'll be twice again this year. So
you you you're familiar with right, What do you think?
Speaker 30 (01:33:44):
I mean, he's fast. I mean we just got to
keep him in the pocket. Hopefully I can you know,
he breaks up, I can go over there and hit him.
Just keeping him in the pocket, that's the main thing,
because he likes to step up, you know, take a
good angy one run. But I mean he's got a good,
good arm when he you know, looks for I mean
they got number ten, they're probably receiver. They work for
him most of the time as well. So just keeping
him in the pocket and you know, just stopping them, making.
Speaker 28 (01:34:07):
Them drive the ball, right, Yeah, I think that's a
good plan.
Speaker 5 (01:34:10):
What well have?
Speaker 4 (01:34:11):
What do you do? What's the plan to containing? Make
him run into make him run towards want to be
a quarterback?
Speaker 29 (01:34:16):
Yeah, make him be a quarterback, take his mobility away
from him and and keep it within our game.
Speaker 4 (01:34:21):
All right, the offense, couarter, are you the office for coordinator?
I guess we'll let's talk about your offense.
Speaker 28 (01:34:26):
I think, uh, you know, we've got a young quarterback.
He's a tenth grader. I've talked about him four westcardin.
He is developing. He's averaging two interceptions a game, which
is not good, you know, but we're working to improve that.
And if you know, if he comes along, we'll be
a more balanced offense. But you know, it got in
a situation last week. You know, we were taking what
(01:34:47):
was open, and the run game was open, and it
was an inside run game, and and you know the
line and our Greg Johnson, he's our h back. He
folds up in there and they do a good job
opening holes and CJ is the exceptional back. So so
you know, we were taking what they give them, and
it just was forty six runs on one guy.
Speaker 11 (01:35:05):
C J.
Speaker 4 (01:35:05):
What's his last night Johnson John Yeah, brother the brothers Johnson. Yeah,
that's a couple of weeks c J. And what's the
other brother, Greg?
Speaker 11 (01:35:14):
Greg and J. Okay, i'll try to remember that, coach.
Speaker 4 (01:35:16):
Yeah, they were here two weeks.
Speaker 8 (01:35:17):
Yeah, a couple of weeks.
Speaker 11 (01:35:18):
We'll all right.
Speaker 4 (01:35:18):
Well, hey, you know what, coach, you have one coming
up Friday night. It's a big one.
Speaker 28 (01:35:21):
That's a big one, and I think we're up for
the chat.
Speaker 4 (01:35:24):
I think you are two coach. Good luck to you, Tucker.
I need you to make about fifteen twenty tapicals. That's
what we're looking for. Yeah, they're gonna running right at you,
so you gotta make the tackle. Hey, good luck to y'all.
We'll look for this hearing from you here away and
we will see you next Wednesday. Right here next Michael
Wing gonna be here, y'all. Y'all gotta make it without us,
(01:35:44):
powder puff game baby, Oh okay, okay, gotch Hey next
up Lochripoka High School right after this, and welcome back
to the High School Coaching Show. We're coming to you
live from the Moe's Original Barbecue. Almost said Orthopede Clintic Studio,
But it's brought to you by the author Repete Clinic
(01:36:05):
and Gory's Furniture Express. You can listen to us on
five Sports. The game we got coach Keith, we got
both coach coach before we get started. That was a
fun game.
Speaker 2 (01:36:18):
That's man, it's a great atmosphere.
Speaker 4 (01:36:21):
I mean, it had so much fun just watching the game.
Speaker 11 (01:36:24):
It could have went.
Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
I mean it came down to the to the end,
you know, you.
Speaker 5 (01:36:28):
Like it always does like you.
Speaker 4 (01:36:30):
Know, uh, you know, a turnover at the end. You know,
if that doesn't happen, you know, we might be in
might be playing some football. Although I felt he hadn't
told me this, but I feel like if if he
had scored, he was.
Speaker 11 (01:36:46):
Going to I would yeah the road man on the
raging game.
Speaker 4 (01:36:53):
But it was just a fun game of watching. I
stopped buying and grabbed something to eat, and I was
in open li like and when I stopt buying, and uh,
I had on Orthopedic Clinic rain jacket. They outfit me.
So it was but it's that color. Somebody look at
they look at you loss and like I said, yeah, man,
(01:37:13):
that was a fun. No, it wasn't fun, Ohla, Like
I said, you wouldn't there to watch it. It was fun,
I know, off like, I hate they lost, but that's right.
It was a fun game. That's what, right, man. It's
worth every oh yeah, well dollar that you spent for
a ticket, you know, that's.
Speaker 31 (01:37:27):
That's always a great atmosphere, a great game. You know,
you talk about high school sports, and that's what it's
all about. I mean, the place is packed, the kids
are having fun. I mean, the kids in the stands
are having fun. The bands blaring, you know, both bands
are just getting after it. And you know, the fans
are having fun. You know, there's no and and you know,
(01:37:49):
I didn't hear anything negative from from either.
Speaker 4 (01:37:52):
And I'm there, yeah, and I'm there, I'm and I'm
most of the game. I'm there with in the Auburn
student section, and they're doing their thing. They're booing the
one we were on across the field with. Oh wait, yes,
they're booing them. And we're booing y'all when y'all running across.
I mean, you know on that you know, it's it's
that's the way it should be. Absolutely, you never heard
any you know, uh, nothing happened in the stands. Nothing
(01:38:14):
really happened on the field that we know.
Speaker 31 (01:38:16):
You know, so it's a good football game, but hard
vault game. Kids played hard. I think for the most part.
We you know, you're gonna get banged up a little
bit and now because it's such such a physical game.
But I think everybody got out, you know, fairly healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
Yeah, I think so, no injuries.
Speaker 31 (01:38:33):
You know, some guy I had had a kid dislocated
finger that the bone came through the skin. So yeah,
but you know what he did, he said, a pop
it back in place, he said, gave it up.
Speaker 5 (01:38:44):
Yeah, went right.
Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
Back out there is out there.
Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
Yeah, he'll be he'll be fine. He'll be fine.
Speaker 5 (01:38:50):
It's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
He'll play through that.
Speaker 31 (01:38:51):
Irrigated it out this week and cleaned it up. And
you know he's been he's been out of practice a
couple of days. But you know he's gonna be fine,
all right, coach.
Speaker 4 (01:38:59):
It was a It was fun. It was a lot
of fun to watch. We don't I think most of
our listeners probably were either there or listening to the game,
because what you know, a lot of teams played on
Thursday night. So I hated it for the people who
couldn't get a ticket because it sold out Tuesday Monday
or whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Tuesday, Tuesday.
Speaker 5 (01:39:14):
And the thing is, you know, it was beautiful.
Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
I ended up being perfect.
Speaker 4 (01:39:19):
Well around up now, I did twelve drops, did hit me? Coach?
I can so. I mean, it was a man, it's
perfect night.
Speaker 11 (01:39:27):
It was just right.
Speaker 4 (01:39:28):
There's nothing.
Speaker 31 (01:39:29):
Yeah, I didn't didn't really arrange, drizzled a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
Other than that, it was great.
Speaker 4 (01:39:34):
Had to pull the hoodie up on the jacket just before.
Speaker 31 (01:39:36):
Both teams had guys make plays. You know, Uh, the
kid that made the catch and the brody made the
catch in the back of the end zone. Unbelievable catch
right there to go for them to go up. And
then we come back and make a great throw, great
catch on the other side and get it down there
and we tied up. And you know, the running backs
(01:39:57):
in that game were phenomenal. You know, the defenses boat
up when they need to, so it's just a great.
Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
Your quarterback was seeing the field. But yeah, he made
one bad throw and I could see it and when
he threw it, I said, that's a bad throw because
later safety laid across the middle. Yeah, I mean, but
you know what I mean, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:40:14):
Trying to make a play. That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
It was one time, you know, and and but the
rest of time he was on the money.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
Yeah, he's been like that.
Speaker 4 (01:40:20):
He's a player.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
Yeah, he's a difference maker.
Speaker 4 (01:40:22):
And you had good performances from Pritchett, you had your
your coach plot Son.
Speaker 2 (01:40:27):
Yeah, he's another kid.
Speaker 4 (01:40:29):
That's maps and had over one hundred yards. I don't
one hundred and forty fifty yards, op like his back
had one hundred and fifty yards. Uh, you know, it's
just a it was a typical other back.
Speaker 2 (01:40:38):
It was really good, was a mustard.
Speaker 4 (01:40:41):
I don't know if you saw it on film, but
I was in the end zone when he that first
touchdown runner saying, y'all didn't have enough.
Speaker 31 (01:40:46):
People to think we had about eight guys, man, I.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
Tell you what, I'm like, where did he come from?
Speaker 5 (01:40:52):
He did?
Speaker 31 (01:40:53):
He did, and like you said, he came out of
nowhere because we we hadn't seen him run the ball
that night. But he did a real the good job,
you know, so you know it's great. I mean, you
hate to see somebody lose that game.
Speaker 5 (01:41:05):
Of course, we want to want to win.
Speaker 31 (01:41:07):
But you know, I thought both teams played really good.
Speaker 4 (01:41:11):
Well, Hey, you guys are I mean if you're play
in this region your next week or next week's game.
It don't get easy. We got Look, there's some teams
that aren't. But for the most part, yeah, it don't
get any easier. That's what it may get harder.
Speaker 31 (01:41:26):
I said, we got six teams. You know, Jag and
Smith's station. They have struggled a little bit, sure, and
they're they're on the upcoming, you know, they're they're working
through some things. But the other six teams in this
region are playoff teams, all six of us, you know.
So there's gonna be two teams that's left out, and
(01:41:48):
it's gonna be two good teams. I mean it could
be a team that would be in the third or
fourth I mean in the third round.
Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
Coach I looked, I just look at the coaches in
this region. Yeah, and all of them. If if a
job comes open or on that on the list of
somebody that was probably get it.
Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
Yeah, get a phone call.
Speaker 4 (01:42:08):
You know you got you got you at Auburn High
and you got Ben Blackman Enterprise. You got the coach
I can't remember his name at Dulton, Yeah, Jed Kennedy,
Ye Kennedy. You got the coach Patrick Nick and Brian Moore.
I mean you got coaches.
Speaker 31 (01:42:23):
I mean you got Carver's Carver's got a Bobby Bobby Carr,
Bobby car That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:42:29):
I forget about him.
Speaker 2 (01:42:30):
You know.
Speaker 31 (01:42:31):
That's that's six guys in those six.
Speaker 4 (01:42:33):
Teams that are you know, and I wasn't even thinking
about car Man. You know, they're gonna make some noise to.
Speaker 31 (01:42:39):
Their athletic undefeated still, you know, just you know, beating
people pretty good. So I mean, they got a really
good team. So, like I said, six teams in this region,
all of them are all of them are you know,
playoff teams, and two of them are gonna get left out.
Speaker 4 (01:42:52):
You got to go on the road. Yeah, that's what
the Enterprise.
Speaker 11 (01:42:55):
That's that's tong trip.
Speaker 4 (01:42:57):
It is. That's the longest trip if you'll make that year.
Speaker 11 (01:42:59):
It is.
Speaker 31 (01:43:00):
It is we go to Moody in a couple of weeks.
But I think Enterprise a little.
Speaker 4 (01:43:04):
Bit father, Yeah, because it's you know, you you pike
roll two thirty one and get on whatever the road
is between twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
Back roads, yeah, story highway. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:43:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:43:14):
So what do we got to do to stop the
Enterprise team?
Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
We gotta find them studs.
Speaker 31 (01:43:19):
They got you know, uh four or five, three, you
know six. You know, all those guys are playmakers.
Speaker 2 (01:43:28):
They got on defense.
Speaker 31 (01:43:29):
They got a power five or power four guy on
every level.
Speaker 5 (01:43:33):
You know.
Speaker 31 (01:43:34):
The Auburn commet the safety, you know he's really good.
Eric Eric Winners, Yeah, basketball player too, Yeah, unbelievable athlete,
can go over on the offense side. You know, you
can go up and get it, can play quarterback and
play running back, you know, does everything.
Speaker 4 (01:43:51):
Did he play play quarterback last year?
Speaker 6 (01:43:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:43:53):
He well he played some know when didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:43:55):
Have an injury to a quarterback and they had to
put him into ska being He's always done that though.
H he'll take a wide receiver make a quarterback out
of it. Yeah, and go to the championship game with
When we played.
Speaker 31 (01:44:05):
Them in the state championship when I was at Oxford
Can played against them, and you know it was they
had the Chris Chris as Drew who was an athlete.
They put him at quarterback. He made play after play
and we were lucky enough to be beat them by
one in that game. They were really good. But you
got the winners, kid, you got the defensive end.
Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
I can't remember to.
Speaker 31 (01:44:28):
Ohio State they got the uh pars All kid, who's
the corner that's going to Kentucky.
Speaker 8 (01:44:35):
You know, they got some really really good.
Speaker 4 (01:44:38):
They had a couple of guys that transferred in. One
from Vicksburg.
Speaker 5 (01:44:42):
Really good player too, the Troy the kid from Troy. Yeah,
that's that's a Grady kid.
Speaker 11 (01:44:48):
Yeah, I mean, you know they're really good.
Speaker 4 (01:44:50):
They got they got some player.
Speaker 31 (01:44:52):
Yes, Ben's son is a good player. You know, he
plays tight end. Yeah, he's a junior. I think I
think he's a junior this year.
Speaker 4 (01:44:59):
So something, coach you something. Man, they know the game,
that's right.
Speaker 31 (01:45:03):
It's like having a coach out there on the field.
Speaker 4 (01:45:05):
Yeah, I know what you got. I mean, I know
what you're gonna do offensively.
Speaker 11 (01:45:08):
You're gonna run.
Speaker 4 (01:45:09):
You're gonna run the ball, and you're gonna mix it
up and throw it and you get They better account
for number two and number.
Speaker 5 (01:45:13):
Seven, two, seven, four or five.
Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
You know, they got account for some folks to coach.
Speaker 11 (01:45:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 31 (01:45:19):
Three, I mean we've got some good players.
Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
Uh you know eleven. Yeah, you better find twenty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
Yeah, you gotta know which twenty nine at all times.
Speaker 31 (01:45:30):
And I'm gonna tell you know, uh, and I don't
say I don't throw this around much, but Peyton Plott
may be one of the best athletes I've ever coached,
and he's phenomenal when he's got the ball in his hands.
He does a lot of things for us, and people
don't see because people have to pay so much attention
to him. It gets ask you and Tony and and
(01:45:52):
some of those guys, you know, cash and some of
those guys, uh availability.
Speaker 5 (01:45:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:45:57):
In other words, it's nice to have, you know, it's
tough when you have a receiver like that. Yeah, coach
your son by the way, Yeah, that's right. You know
that they have to they have to count for more
than one least somebody open.
Speaker 2 (01:46:09):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:46:10):
You've got to figure out who it is.
Speaker 2 (01:46:11):
That's right.
Speaker 31 (01:46:12):
And then you got Omar in the backfield, and and
Jackson's playing real well.
Speaker 11 (01:46:16):
Right now quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:46:16):
You go in the film room and you got those
kind of players on these teams. Yeah, do y'all say, hey,
we got to know what number three years? We got
to know where this guy is at all time. Absolutely,
they got to count for our good. Everybody healthy with
good except I think we're good for the Yeah, he'll
be Hey, well, good luck against Enterprise. That's a long
trip with good Luck.
Speaker 11 (01:46:34):
It's good brother.
Speaker 4 (01:46:35):
That's coach Keith after Joborn High School. That wraps it
up for the Coaching Show. We'll see y'all next week.
