(00:25):
and good afternoon everybody, and welcometo mos Barbecue, site of the twenty
twenty three High School Coaches Shoppers Didn'ttell you by the What's Pete Clinic on
Fox Sports The Game nineteen thirteen, ten and ninety seven point seven Kicker FM.
D Mart Mitzell, Jeffer Crec Sassorin the house, Jeffer Craig.
We got a whole bunch of Thankyou, Bame. We got a whole
(00:46):
bunch of coaches in here lined up. They're ready to go. I'm started
off here with Vietle. I getthese guys coming. Yeah, Hey,
we got Beetle this week, comingoff of big win last week against Sacks.
Yes, sir, it was anice win, nice home game,
nice win area game and get away to open up the area for us.
And we're really excited about you know, things to come down the road.
(01:06):
But it was a big win forus. UH had a big crowd,
big night, big uh celebrating uhuh nine to eleven and our commemorate
nine to eleven, and uh,you know, our our fans did outstanding
job and and UH it was justa good night for it to be a
beauty ball cap. Coach last weekhe saw thirty eight points. Yeah,
(01:30):
you gonna you gonna go over thata little bit. Well, let's do
the Let's do that game. Thenwe'll move on to weaving. Yeah,
we went north to Wale. ButI'm sorry, well, you know,
we we were struggling a little bitrunning the football, so we decided to
UH coach Johnson started throwing the balloutside and we and we've gotten really good
at throwing outside screen packages and andso we just moved the ball up and
down the field. We've got alot of good athletes outside and UH Coach
(01:53):
Johnson just you know, saw somethingin the defense and and so we just
started throwing the ball outside and lettingthe UH athletes do their job. And
and then you know, paid offfor us something. And then of course,
you know, defensively, you know, we played real well, gave
up some points late, but Iwas really proud of the way the offensively
(02:14):
we were able to move the ballwhen we needed to and and we didn't
have a whole lot of lull Uh. It looked worse Friday night than it
did when she watched the film onuh Saturday morning. But you know,
we we moved the ball well andand we just gotta continue to do that.
We gotta continue to get the ballinto the athlete's hands like we have
been so far. And if wekeep that doing that, we should be
(02:35):
successful. Who was the big Whowere the big uh the stars of the
night, Well, I mean, honestly, you've got a whole uh uh
all of them played well. UhMJ had a touchdown, Yeah, a
quarterback form and had a you know, had a good run touchdown and uh
move you know, move the ballwell outside the pocket and j Eathan pressures
(02:59):
let us on top. Yeah youknow. So, I mean our skill
guys were played real well. Uh. Coach Hayes does a really good job
and with the receivers and coach ofcourse, and they they probably the uh
the number one group that's gotten thebest uh so much better from last year's
our received it. Last year, you know, it's really hard for us
to catch the ball. For somereason, this year, it seems like
(03:21):
they're catching the ball left and right. But that's because they've worked extremely hard
at it. Coach Haes and coachCoursing, like I said, they I
think that was one thing. Theydecided that we were gonna be able to
catch the ball and and we weregonna be able to move the ball in
the passing game. And that's whatwe've been able to do so far.
And it's a difference for your quarterbacktoo, Yes, sir, the nice
(03:42):
catches, yes, sir. Andwe actually dropped a couple. I mean
Friday night, we had a coupleof uh slant routes that were wide open,
and he hit them in stride andjust you know, we missed a
couple of big plays there. Butother than that, uh uh foreman is
doing a really good job of hittingthe right target, putting the ball in
the you know, in the spotwhere he needs to be put most of
(04:05):
the time. And and so we'rehe's really he's a big part of the
reason offensively we have you know,we've gotten been able to score as many
points as we have because he's sucha good athlete, but he's also a
really good leader. All right, hey, come this week. He got
walked away when last year left tohim? Yes, big, yes,
sir, Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's last year. We talked about
(04:26):
him a little bit. Tell usabout walked away when right quick? Well,
they still a big physical team.I mean they might not be the
wealth where when they were last year. I think they lost some athletes,
but they're still that's a big physicalteam. They know what they want to
do on offense and defense, theydon't they don't deviate from him much.
So they run the wing tea. They want to pack it in there and
(04:47):
run football at you and and youknow, create some misdirection and try to
hit you on a path through thenight. And so you know we want
to do that. And then andthen on defense, they you know,
they running four three at you,and you know they want to stop the
run. And that's what we're tryingto do is established a run. So
we worked all week on trying toyou know, figure out a way to
establish a run against them and hopefullythat opens up the pass or or a
(05:10):
week and revert back to what wedid with sacks and try to get guys
outside and loosen them up and thenmaybe room twenty tackles. So they were
off last week open, I couldcome watch y'all play interesting. Yes,
y'all rolling. Y'all got a goodstart, coaches, I just jumped in
here too. One good start goingon the road, getting home two straight
weeks on on. That'll be alittle challenge, right, Safe travels appreciated
to continued success with Bobcats Big regiongame too. Thank you. You gotta
(05:33):
shot y'all Open week. Thank y'allfor being good. Luck looking Wing vive
it, move there shouting wings. We're a tight suo. Coaches should presented
by the Orthopete, Clinton, Deep, Mark and Jeffill return with open l
note with Valley coach Adam Hunter witha big win this week. We'll be
right back at you and we're backat Mods Barbecue and armand ben Creek.
(06:11):
The high school coaches show beautiful eveningin the orban up like at East Alabama.
Thanks coach Ze Jeff Sasser. VanRiggs is engineering and doing his normal.
Jason's over there, his fans, got his family here. We're Leary
on the veranda, very nice andWe're gonna talk Valley around football with Adam
Hunter, who is two and onecoming off a Wayne Newton win bigger than
(06:32):
waiting in overtime at the guard atHornet stated on Richard Brownfield, congratulations coach,
twenty one fourteen win over Valley,I mean over Borreguard in Borgard.
Good job, thank you, thankyou. It was a good game.
Uh. You know, a testamentto our kids. You know, they
fought hard all night long going intoovertime. You know, we had some
(06:54):
misfortunes happening right before the end ofregulation that the kind of got him back
in the game. But you know, our kids didn't hang their heads.
They went out there played some more. Uh. And you know that's a
testament to our kids. It's somethingwe can build off of. Going down
the road here, coach, Iwant you to do me a favorite here,
take us kind of a quick summaryof that game, uh you going
on the road. It goes intoovertime. I understand there was a lot
(07:15):
of Every game has plays, youknow what I mean, So kind of
take us a summary though, kindof how you seek saw that play out.
You know, we go down toscore Cam runsing in off the you
know, he had a great game. He did cam cam managed the game.
Well, you know, he heplayed probably one of his better games.
I think he missed some throws. It would really have set him apart
and he would have had a greatgame. But you know, he runs
(07:38):
the ball in for the first score, and you know, we we're we're
clicking and and we're going and wekind of argo comes back and evens it
up. Then we go ahead, and you know, in the fourth quarter,
we're going into this thing fourteen sevenand you know, Jay, those
things he didn't he never does. You know. He he fumbled the ball
twice back to back, you know, but that kid came back and played
(08:00):
the whole game. You know,he he took a pop in the first
quarter, you know, so heplayed the whole game and and still played
a really really good game. Uhyou know, he was right there in
the end, you know, playingdefense as hard as he was at the
beginning. So my hat goes off. D kid. He played his hard
out and you know we we welet him back in the game. They
score and you know, we hadtwo touchdowns called back. We rough the
(08:22):
passer on an interception that gets calledback, and then we have a holding
penalty on a on a touchdown driveor a touchdown run that gets called back
as well. So you know,we had chances to put the game away
in the in regulation we didn't.Uh that's one of the disheartened things.
But we got to clean that up. Uh. But then we go into
overtime and Cam throws a pass tooto to Brandon Thomas that scores the the
(08:48):
the game, win a touchdown, and we go out hold them for three
three players. We get a hon third down, we get a holding
call, moves them up half thedistant to the goal line, and on
a on the fourth down play,Cam knocks it down in the back of
the end zone. So you know, it's a really good game testament to
our fans. They were there, they were loud, our band and cheerleaders,
you know, they their band was. They were on it. Every
(09:11):
time Borreguard we get the ball, they were they were, they were cranked
up, they were they were loud. So my hat goes off to all.
It was a it was a teameffort, and it was even more
than just a football team. Itwas everybody. So you know, it
was it was a great win forour community. Yeah, I wasna say
how many plays did Cam get toplay on. Cam was in on every
everything except kickoff, kickoff, returnand uh punt, so he played.
(09:37):
He probably he probably played. Wehad I can't even remember snap Kim.
He probably played out of one hundredand thirty something. He was in on
one hundred snaps, one hundred fifteen. Harperson, what does he plays in
both ways? He does. He'sone of the kids. We've got four
kids that that has to play bothways, him, Jay Harper, Cam,
uh Ian Krim Davis, and uhAntoine Greenwood. Who Antoine Greenwood has
(10:01):
had a great two last two games. Uh he plays right tackle force and
he goes over and plays defensive enforceand he's a beast. Uh he's doing
really good force right now. Andall our front up front from Hanley week
until now, up front offensively anddefensively. We controlled the line scrimmage in
our last two games, and thatthat's a testament to our offense line defensive
(10:22):
line. Ye, all right,Silicon, go this week, coach.
They're winless, but it's Valley,so tell us about it. You know
they're gonna they're gonna do some stuff. They're gonna check it the line.
They're gonna try to out number us. They'll they'll do some motion stuff,
just try to get numbers on you. You know. And and I think
they're they're a better football team theywere last year. I think we're gonna
(10:43):
have to play full quarters to beatthem. You know, their their schedule
or their record, I should say, doesn't it's not indicative of what they
are. You know, they're they'rethey're a good football team. They're they're
gonna be tough. We gotta play. We gotta play in all three phases.
And and we've we've got to youknow, sustaining you know, the
staying drives on offense. That's whatwe talk about all the time. We've
(11:03):
got to put the ball in theends on and have some good place.
Going back to the ballguard game, offensively, we had a ninety five yard
drive for the second toast Dan,which was big and it isn't big,
it's a huge drive. What aboutfecial teams, coach on even go back
to last week, tell you specialteams is about even you know, we
played really good special teams other thanyou know, a couple of muff the
muff punt and then the kickoff returnthat was dropped. But other than that,
(11:26):
you know we played well. Wewe hit all our extra points.
That was big to take it intoover times. So you know this week
Special Teams is gonna be big again. I think we're about even on both
sides. Silicoaga and US on specialteams. Kids got to be excited,
coach, I know they are arethey they are? They are bueguard.
That's two big wins for your program. It is. You know, we
(11:46):
just gotta keep getting better. That'swhat we talk about every week we get
we can't stall out. We've gotto keep you know, sitting at Bull
higher and higher. Coach, thanksfor what you to do. Thanks spending
here. You're feeling better. Thankyou. I do, It's stilled in
me. But I've I'm getting better. Staying wins helped though. That's right,
all right, take care of yourself, coach. That's Adam Hunter getting
the leg win in overtime. TheValley Rams you can hear their games on
one hundred point nine the Bull oursister station. We're gonna come back.
(12:07):
We're gonna talk with old black aboy dog Eric Eric Speakman, Coach Cherik
Speakman on the coaches Show presented bythe Orthopedic County Live from Moles. We're
rounding up the posse out here OlesBarbecue High School Coaches Show. The rig
(12:30):
family is leaving the build, bannedthe sea, but appreciate you. Oh
well we haven't. Bobby Joe,you need to come back and get back
davemar Jeff Van Jason. We're alllive and Mose Barbecue every Wednesday night.
I used to Coaches Show presented byMose Barbecue, and we got a good
one going to first off. It'sthe best feeling night we've had. Ye
it is. It's not absolutely awesome. Coach check speak when joins us with
(12:50):
a speakman clan night, good evening, coach good evening, y'all good doing
good tonight, y'all good over there. Well only one is miked up.
Yeah, we got sheff I rightnow, we'll get Griffin on the right
ship. How you doing, Buddygood? All right? Shif you had
a big game this week, right, yes, sir? All right?
So tell me about your game, all right, let's do this real quick.
Tell us a big play you madein the game, all right?
(13:11):
I made a pick a pick?So what did you do on the pick?
How did you get the pick?Did you thought it right? Tell
you? Uh? He threw itto somebody else and then uh I caught
it. How'd you catch it though? Did you go up over and maybe
and grab it away? You jumpedthe route? You jumped the route?
Didn't Did you go running for achist? Oh? No, they can't
see your head moves, so yougotta say no, sir? All right,
(13:35):
So tell me after you intercepted mewhen we did you just run off
the field or were you happy whenyou ran off? Happy? What'd you
do? Are we now? Youdon't know? Okay, you had a
good little celebration, asked. Didy'all win? Uh? Oh? We
tied? Okay? Twenty eight, twenty eighth? Okay, all right?
So you play? What do youplaying on offense? Uh? Qb oh?
(13:56):
Did all right? Did you uhscore touchdown? Yes? Sir?
Three touchdowns? Or all right? What's the name of your team? Kiefs?
I was looking at you, well, I wasn't sure I thought that
would all right? Chip? Hasyour brother got anything you wanted to come
in? Here? Are we playingfootball? Who's your coach? Uh?
Coach? Van? Oh? Blessyour heart? I'm so sorry. So
(14:20):
what's the name of your team? The Falcons? The Falcons? Alright,
so what position do you play?I played QB, so we got two
quarterbacks. Okay, you saw yourbrother make that play the other mine?
You the one that he jumped overthe young man, didn't he? Yes,
sir? All right? Have y'allplayed yet? Oh? We're playing
this Saturday? All right? Eightthirty or nine thirty nine? You like
(14:41):
playing at Boardock Stadium since that's allyou know, rut it up all your
life. It's pretty neat, Ibet, isn't it? Yes, sir?
Okay, hold are you right now? Uh? Nine years old?
Nine? Okay? All right, all right, so y'all play Saturday?
Yes, sir. Good look,I'm sorry about your coach, bud,
but just hang in there. Man, all right, you get there,
all right? Sorry about that.I had to get the coach out of
the way there all right. Lookhe's playing the MP music coach Steatman.
(15:01):
Good boys right there, hey are, Thank goodness for their mama. Amen
to that good win. Last week, coach, it was close and he
kicked it off forty four to eighttotal domination over Percy and Julian formerly Robert
E. Lee. So congrats onthem, Yeah, thank you. Uh
actually was close three nothing at theend of the first quarter, okay,
and then we scored three touchdowns inthe second quarter, which we kind of
(15:22):
thought, that's kind of how thegame would play. They uh, you
know, y'all like to say onyour show, they had get W two's
as well. They these kids practiceand play hard, and we knew we'd
get a little bit out of him. And and you know, they dressed
about forty eight players. So wekind of felt like, you know,
once the game got rolling, ifwe could play well, we'd end up
pulling away. And that's what happened. Kids played good. I had a
(15:43):
good second half, which we wereyou know, we were not happy with
the previous week we didn't have agood second half over at Crampton Bowl,
and then this week we did.So kids played well, roaming through the
ball pretty well, got the runninggame going, and then defensively had four
interceptions and and uh, defensive lineput a lot of pressure. They threw
the ball all night. It wasone of the longest games we've been a
(16:03):
part of, especially to be aforty four to eight game. It took
forever because they were throwing it Ithink about it every day. I think
they threw it maybe forty eight times. Great. Yeah, they threw it
a bunch and uh it was.It was a long night at clocks delay,
all right, so we get thew uh Miller Jamory Miller had a
good night too. Yeah, Jamorryhad had had a Uh uh I forgot
(16:26):
his eight eight nine catches again anduh yes yeah seven radio guy over here
he got way. He talked aboutit all night, so I just watched
it here you go here. Yeah, so he had a good game.
Brody and Jones had a touchdown ona big play. We had a little
trick play we ran that was successful. So uh it was a good night
for us. So now we moveon to the to the big ones.
(16:48):
Are you two and oh in theRegion three two and one overall? Go
over to Phoenix City. Uh,take on the Red Devils at Wayne Traitor
Field. Central's good coach. Youknow that you got him last year over
here at Bulldog Stadium, talk aboutplayer in the really good. Got a
quarterback that moved in from Columbus thatreally spends it good, got four good
receivers. You know, they againthought it a lot. Another week that
(17:08):
we see a lot of passing fromthe other teams, so we'll have to
be really good on the back endof the secondary and hopefully get some pressure
on this kid. Uh. Hedoesn't like to run it though. That's
a little bit different than their quarterbacklast year. That kid last year probably
ran it better than he threw it. So we'll see a little bit different
offense. And then defensively, they'rejust like they always are, really good,
really fast, really big upfront.Uh, linebackers are better this year
(17:32):
than they were last year. That'skind of where we got him last year,
was we could get some guys ontheir linebackers because they were they were
not as big as a as acentral linebacker usually is. But they they
got that fixed this year and havetwo really good looking kids in there,
So kicking game will be huge,uh kind of even there, So you
know we're gonna have to go overthere and play well to win. Obviously.
I talked to coach afters obviously, and then Brady played it again,
(17:56):
said they were really big, coach. Yeah, physical, Yeah, big
and physical they are always are.And you know I was gonna be yea
and just curious what you thought.Yeah, I mean, yet they looked
that way on tape. Look likeyou're playing Jackson's study again. So would
you say this is one of theor is this his best team? You
think? Uh, probably his bestteam I still met here. Yeah,
yeah, I don't think. Yeah, I think it's probably Patrick's best team
(18:18):
at Phoenix City. It's not tome. I don't know that they're as
good as that twenty eighteen Phoenix Cityteam that coach de bos had because that
group and in fact, a buddymy coach, is Enterprise and he said
that's the best team I've ever seen. I said, well, you didn't
see the twenty eighteen team because wedidn't. Yeah, we didn't cross midfield
against that group they were. Infact, I had I had to beg
the official throw a penalty on oneof their kids just because he was beating
(18:41):
up our kids so bad. Said, He said, what do you want
me to throw? I said, just make something up there. I said,
he was killing my kids. Coach, every every coach that I've talked
to that's played you or have seenfilm on you really goes on a bount
of defensive Yeah. Yeah, they'replaying good. They're really good, really
active. Big. Uh, it'sfirst time in a while. We've had
get big kids, you know.Uh Altrey six six two eighty, Lightfoot's
(19:03):
about six three two ninety. UhMaori Smiley six three two thirty. And
then Alan Jackson. He's the smallestof the bunch, but he's probably playing,
uh overall, probably the best outof all four of them. Sir,
what's this? What's this? He'sabout five ten, probably two hundred
and twenty pounds two hundred and evenlooks more like a linebacker. Coach,
that is. Yeah, bit somebig kids. So we'll go play.
(19:25):
We gotta go play. Well.Good week so far, Yeah, really
good week. Yeah. One more. Yeah, that's it all right.
I see you guys. Take care. So I can hear the game right
here on the Kicker Saturday, Imean Friday night at six thirty. Uh
as they go to take on Central, we'll come back to the Coachy Show.
Talk to bust of Keith Effort,Auburn High School. Oh, welcome
(20:03):
back to mods Barbecue, then Creakand Auburn. Well it has two coaches
show on Fox Sports The Game andninety seven Ports seven Kick Crefid de Mark,
Jeff Van Jason Brawl here live.We appreciate most barbecue man. They
got it going on seven days aweek. Ricky Carmack and his crew do
a great job. Let me tellyou something. We got children everywhere,
don't we coach it? Yes,sir, Yes, sir, We got
young uns everywhere like nothing I tell. I tell these daddies they barely enjoy
(20:26):
it because every babies grow up fastand they have no clue to it.
Wet us three days, right, that one enjoy it. But look family
atmosphreat time it is. It's awesomeout here. You can go inside.
They got everything you want to eatfrom kids meals, everything, barbecue,
a catfish. They never had nothingI don't like here you got come on
(20:47):
by modest barbecue. We're here onWednesdays. There here every day. They
got one in downtown Auburn. Thisis a coaching show and we're here every
Wednesday from six to nine. Wetalked to about sixteen coaches every wednesdaynight.
And it's all brought to you bythe worth Peter Clinny, boy, what
we do about it? What's PetePlin? The Great Peter Clinic more than
others? Hey, look what whatwhat I do with that? I don't
(21:07):
know right now? I got allkeeping them in business over their coach.
I mean this, they're going tochange the name over petty clinic. Look,
I had one get I had oneget card off yesterday. Coach,
God love him enter but he's yeah, he's gonna be fine, and we
got him checked out. He's goodfine. But let me say this with
Pete Clinton, that's a super gohead. I saw doctor Dooley on your sideline,
Doctor Willis, doctor Wilson is allthere in the night and all the
(21:30):
yeah, and he's on old blucketman. They they're they're at least God
And I know your trainer you goteasy and Clayton Clayton, there you go.
So all of him do a greatjob, and of course check him
several more. Anyway, we appreciatethe old petic coach. Clinic coach you
had, Uh who you made mesweating in my car coming home? Yeah,
me night, my things reply, thank you Jesus when I thank you
(21:56):
Jesus. Over time victory coach, you stopped him on double overtime. Excuse
me, Yeah, I was withyou kid. I'm gonna say I'm gonna
say this, Uh, Jeff coachKennedy does a great job with his guys.
Yeah, I mean they they falland scrapped and got after it.
And you know, he does anunbelievable job. And that offense he runs,
(22:17):
I'm you don't know where look Iwas getting, so I get confused
on the side and the side I'mtaking. He does what he did at
a coach just tackled everybody in thebackfield. Somebody tackling again. But something,
Jeff, it's a little it's likea Chinese fired. Yeah. And
if they don't motion the skill, they don't. If they buss your coach,
thank you man. If they don't, if they and sometimes they don't
(22:41):
click. But they were clicking again. You said they moved. Yeah,
they moved the ball down the field. They got you know, you know,
we gotta we gotta stop. Wehad to have one. It was
you did get the big stuff.Who made that stock. That was Pete
Pete Janet Davis, Janet Davis. And he it was his first game back.
He you know, he's the onethat had the foot injury. Got
shot in the foot. Yes immediately, yeah, yes, yes, really
(23:04):
good kid. And just to clarifythat with an accident, make sure yeah
yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutelynobody shot. Yeah, because I don't
want to make but look great kid, unbelievable player. You know last week
was his first week back, youknow, and thank thank goodness, you
know it was you know, hehe came up and made a huge stop.
(23:26):
You know, so it was andyou know, uh, it was
a big point in the game rightthere. Absolutely, Now you have we
were talking this morning. You hadyou original starting quarterback go out yeah against
Enterprise. Yeah, and you lostHarson to to transfer fass fire whatever you
want to say. Then you lostyour other quarterback graduations. So you're four
(23:48):
deep at quarterback. Yeah, andyou have turned a wide receiver into quarterback
and Mr Ian Nation and you gottwo sophomores. Kind of take out Henry
Henry when I say he's a footballplayer. Henry played about six seven plays
other night. Ian played probably themajority of the plays. We had a
tenth grader to come in and getsome time. I think both tenth graders
(24:08):
should get some time this week. You know, we should be exciting.
You know, you got Max toget some time, Max Hammer, and
you got uh Lothridge. You know, we'll get some time. So both
of those guys will get a littletime this week. And and it's uh,
and we'll we'll be excited to seewhat those those young guys can do.
Because those young guys, you know, I'm they got a lot of
(24:29):
promise, you know. But youknow, like I told you before,
it, I don't want to puta young kid like that in a bad
situation. So we want to puthim in a good situation, give him
an opportunity to get out there andbe successful. Coach, I agree with
you on that. And so rightnow, you're just gonna keep status quo
and trying to get some yeah youwant you probably you may not see in
in there that much just because he'suh, just because he's uh getting uh.
(24:53):
You know, we need it.We need him at receiver. I
was gonna see you lose a positionthere. Yeah, we need him at
receiver ends. You know, Ithink he is one of the top receivers
and not only this state, butany state. You know, he is
unbelievably talented. You know, wegot you know, uh, Trey Marcus
is you know out there playing now. So Trey is unbelievably talented. You
(25:18):
know, we got we got threeor four guys that you're gonna see take
snaps, you know, Friday night. So uh, and like I said,
the two tenth graders, you'll seeyou'll see Henry get some snaps.
Uh. You'll see you'll see threeor four guys at running back. You
know. You know Omar Mapson hadone hundred forty yards other night on eighteen
carries. Tenth grader Han did notrun the ball. He played corner the
(25:45):
other night. And you'll see youmay see him playing linebacker this week.
Really yeah, because you know,uh, he may play that nickel some
uh hands. One of those kidsyou move anywhere you can. He's he's
a ball player. Yeah, he'sa ball player. He's got and he's
gonna give you everything. Yeah,he's gonna give you everything. He asked.
Yeah, didn't you nobody I wassaying. I was talking about he
he runs, well, he isa yeah all right, this week coach
(26:07):
going to the duck, I meanto the bowl, yep, going to
the ball. Uh, I makeget it right now. This would be
Jeff Davis formerly, which is Jack. All right, Jack, you know
they're o and three. This shouldbe a winnable game. But you need
some quarterback down, Yeah, weneed some quarterback. Yeah. He didn't
play last week. Sea he didn'tplay last week. He's he's good to
go this week. You know,he's got a spider pad on. He
jump back to that. No,no, no, he's he got a
spider pad on. He's his shouldersfeeling good right now. You know,
(26:30):
we could have played him last week. We decided not to. We don't
want to lose him for three orfour games. I'd rather, you know,
uh, let him, let himsee it for a little while and
get well. You know, butwe had him over there if if we
had to have him in a situation. But you know, Trade Markus came
in and yeah, Trade came in, and you had you had uh Omar
(26:52):
played really good at running back,so and you also had I mean there's
there's a lot of guys that thatplay that position that that can come in
and make an impact. Oh,no doubt. How many players should you
play that last week? It soundlike we I mean we played three three
or fourth quarterbacks. That's yeah,we do the same. Yeah, we'll
(27:15):
do the same, but we'll getboth those tenth graders. You know,
we want to keep our normal offenseas much as we can and those ten
Yeah, yeah, that's right. You put everybody else out of a position,
you know, so so well,we're going to use those tenth graders,
you know, a good bit Fridaynight. We want them to grow
up, you know. We wantthem to have an opportunity to show what
they can do. And I think, uh, I think Barthra jan Hammer,
(27:40):
both of those guys can can doit, you know. But I
don't want to put them in abad spot, you know, because I
want them. I want them todevelop, you know. And and I
told both of them, you know, as long as you're not my starter,
you're a tenth grader, you'll you'llplay JV games. It once you
become a starter. Then if you'rea tenth grader, you you're not you're
not playing JVA. So are theyplaying in JV now, yeah, they're
(28:00):
playing. Okay, I toil thistoday. Yeah that's good. They and
they split reps and you got Dooley'syou'll get in there and he'll he'll play
in those JV games. So alot of guys, you know, getting
getting reps. You've had a lotof injuries, a lot of a lot
of injuries, you know, andyou know, it's it's always good to
(28:21):
get get those back. But youknow what that win last week was so
big, Coach, it wasn't becauseit's a region win and you're gonna be
fighting. You know all your guysare. I don't mean you got one
loss and you got players out everyw in the regions and as we got
a live right now, you doyou ye this morning. You gotta go
game by game, that's right, and survive. You do you kicking game.
You're phenomenal there. So we getyou get are that's right. You
(28:45):
know we getting the ball on theforty five. I feel like downs can
can make them play. Coach, thanks for being Everyboddy, Thank you,
you appreciate you. Good good luckcoch, Thank you on the win last
week. Did see you? Youwant to say hello to everybody there?
Young man? You ready to playa little bit more? Right? There
you go? His father played basketballAlabama. That's what I'm talking. Easy,
(29:07):
you know he played for Whims.Easier with me. We're at the
Coaches show at thank thankless coach. We'll come back with Buster Daniel. Welcome
(29:30):
back to most Barbie Q for theHigh School Coaches Showing Night seven point seven

We're here every Wednesday night six toeight pm. Thank you Van Rich
for engineering and Jason, Yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you.
All right, we rolled it rightalong. I don't know what I'd
do without him. Coach Buster DanielLee Scott Academy. He's undefeated in the
(29:51):
house tonight, coach, good evening. Good to see you do mark yourself,
Good to see you. No familytonight, No, no, I
had no big family to night. He just I got, I got,
We're gonna get Jake family. Yeah, but you know your family. Nope,
nope, nope, it's just me. They don't like to hang out
with me. I understand that Madisonwas talking about Holland today, and y'all
understand it and know why say heknows why. I don't. Coach,
(30:12):
We we're proud to have you here. We be here. I know this
young man introduced this young fellow herethat I called Nashville. You called him
Nashville. That's the only name Iknow, Yashville. You know that Jake
White, Jake is from Nashville. You know he moved here last year then
was two years and uh, supersuper young man and a super football player.
(30:33):
Also, he is a super footballplayer. Good even, Jake,
how you doing all right? Allright? You know what y'all were?
You were at it early this morningwhen you no, not this morning?
How do you like that? Now? I love it? Do you really?
Yeah? So what time do youget there? I try and beat
coach last week four am? Beathim. But you got to the school
(30:53):
at point. He was asleep inhis truck trying to beat me. There.
That's their goal. You were there. Put it towards your face,
four am. Man, that's awesome. What time are they supposed to be
there? We started five forty five, so if they were, they were
five thirty. Yeah, he justtry and beat himself. I got there
at four forty five, four fifty, and I had three kids already.
(31:15):
There was Jackson, the gates alreadyopening. Four kids are open. Yeah,
who opens the gates? Mister rowlesshim? He's there like three o'clock.
And the boy he takes care ofthat? Who was who was first?
I was very dang. I'm aboutto you know, I'll give you
a fifth. Appreciate that. Man, that's a game they play. I'm
up at four, you like that? Ain't supposed to be up at four?
(31:37):
I mean that's right. So who'sthe other one? Parker? Right,
Parker, that's wanted the Ridge boysshamed yourself, bust then beating you
because you gotta get up. Itold me better be there early this week.
What time did I t get topractice? He gets that normally five
fifteens right at five thirty. Oh, they're already something, yes, alright,
alright, good deal, all right, CUK's three and oh goodwin fifth
(32:00):
he well, I say fifty onenothing got Oh by the way, fifty
one six. It's fifty one sixClark Ran that's the quick at second half,
y'all. I mean they tie himout, y'all. Ran it,
I mean he wanted to get onout. He wanted to go back setting.
Yeah, I mean it's he uhyeah. We talked about the other
morning that you know, he's he'sstruggling right now. We're players on there's
now. There's nothing against coach Ran. He is a fine coach and a
(32:20):
fine man. It's just it's justis what it is. You know.
He just don't have a lot ofplayers. And I think they had they
dressed eighteen uh nine through twelve, had a couple of guys injured. Uh
one, he is suspended from missingpractice and I respect him for that,
but he he had eighteen guys dressed, and uh, you know, just
tough night. But our guys didexactly what she's supposed to do. When
you're when you're better than a team, you know, go ahead and uh
and do your job. There yougo, Jake, you had a two
(32:43):
touchdowns, right, yes? Sayall you had a fifty one was it
a pump return? Yes? Sayall right? And the other one was
I can't remember pass from about thesix. There you go, all right,
so tell me tell me a littlebit. Y also had uh did
you have me rushing yards? Holdon, no, you did not care
to ball? Now he got abunch of yards. And here also to
me what you think about the teamyou played on last year's championship team.
So tim me a little bit. What you think about your team heading into
(33:05):
play glenn Wood Friday night and talkingabout that game? Man, I mean,
this is like rivalry week, sowe're all pretty fired up. Like
everyone's kind of like, I know, we beat them three times in a
row, but it's been three goodYeah, it doesn't really phaze us.
It's kind of the same thing everysingle time we know we got to kill
them. We've been practicing really hardthis week. We've really been putting our
head down. We got some guysthat like really are firing us up.
(33:25):
We got good leadership going on,man, I think we're just really excited.
We got some dogs on the oldline too. They're really stepping up.
I'd say this week more than ever. Okay, going over there,
you think this team compared to lastyear's team. I don't want you to
stay better at but what do theylook like compared to last year's team as
well? They better than one spotor the other. So I just I
don't think you can compare to lastyear's team and this team, like they're
(33:46):
two different teams and they're both likeawesome. I'd say like last year's team
obviously, like we were dominant,we won state by like twenty points.
But this year's team, it's likea whole new culture out there, Like
we got new guys, some newleadership roles. I mean we graduately like
sixteen seniors. So there's tell meabout what you're seeing. Glynn Wood the
same thing with their team because theyplayed you twice. You played him in
(34:07):
a championship. As you mentioned, just then. I mean, I think
glynn Wood, great team, greatcoach. I got some skilled guys out
there, good quarterback, got agood safety back there, good linebacker.
But I mean, nothing work.I'm never scared. We're never scared going
to a team or a week like. We're really just focusing on ourselves.
So you think you all ready togo. I think we're a hundred ready
to go. There you go.You know how good it is to have
(34:29):
roadags kicked that volumes one every time? And it feels so good. Row
he's a dog. He is adog? Is it? Has it been
every time? Coach? I thinkof sixteen out of sixteen, that's awesome.
That's so you know, I don'twant to And we talked about,
you know, your two touchdowns, punt returns and catches and throws, but
that hill Man's booting and when yougot a good kicker, that does coaches
just go. There's a lot ofguys, I guess huge talk that that
(34:50):
is a huge weapon. Defense lovesgood kickers. You know, if they
started twenty every time, man,you know the odds, coach mccrack and
you're talking about the odds if youstarted twenty not very good so if they
started the twenty man, I likeour chances. And when you start from
the forty sometimes or midfield or atthirty eight, you know you lose,
you don't, that's eighteen yards. You don't think about losing. Jeff,
you come on in some of yourquestions. I was just staying about that.
(35:12):
Yeah, I've been a lot openwhen when you coached there at ok
i'men the you know when I don'tknow we ever had sixteen out of the
sea. Well that's kind of whatI was. There's not many kickers that
can do that. I know Townscan at August. Yeah, now you
know he's he's sixteen out of sixteentouchbacks and he's had three he kicked slap
out of the field into the passingend way out, way out. So
(35:35):
he's doing an outstanding job playing overthere. Have you played over there?
Yeah, when we would in football. This will be my first time.
Okay, I know they have anice stand coached over there. I was
about to happen. Guys, that'sokay, interesting what happened? If you're
not well, we played at homeand then they the first year and then
they changed the realignment. You are, so we played forget home. Yeah,
not that you wouldn't be right. That's interesting. This is interesting for
(35:58):
you to go over there. Theygot a nice little place they do.
Yeah, it's a good feeling. And in this any time you go into
hustle territory, don't matter what classyou coaching in, it's tough to play
on the road. And somebody askedme today about tickets, coach. I
know they set them at the gate. They still if you get them,
do you still get the money?I was asked that by somebody at time.
They tell us it's all over there, and they they do do a
cash gate. I was told todayat glenn Wood. So okay, but
(36:20):
you don't come. They don't buytickets at least guy No, Nashville Ate
White, nice to see you, okay, Yes, sir, nice to
have you, Coach Daniel. They'realways good to see their good to see
you. Guys. Appreciate you.Yes, their seven o'clock kick Central eight
Eastern, Lee Scott and the Landboth undefeated. We're at most Barbecue.
High School Coaches Show continues to presentedby the Orthopedic Clinic. We're gonna talk
(36:40):
with Southern Prep when we come back. Hey, welcome back to the high
(37:13):
school coaching show. We're coming toyou live from Mole's Original Barbecue. It's
brought to you by the Orthopedic Clinic, Moles, Fox Sports, the Game
and the Kicker. They County's BestCountry. Our next team up is coach
Rolling Ball and Southern Prep. Lastweek Big Win coach. Yes, sir,
let me see who u north SideChristian. I had to look at
the North River. Okay, wellit says north Okay, you're right North
(37:37):
River. Had to look him up. They're out of tech blues. Yes,
sir, okay, Uh, BigWin, you're gonna talk about that
one briefly and then we'll go onto the Stuart, count of Georgia and
next comment. Yes, sir,So we went in the North River knowing
that they're gonna try to power thebottom. They run the eye, and
then we're gonna try to power andrun to sweep and you know, they
got some reverses and jump, butuh, basically we're gonna try to power
(37:59):
on us, and we just developedthe defense to match what they do.
And uh, it was an awesomedefensive night. We gave up one touchdown
before we pulled all the starters outand and we pulled the starters. We
were we were up thirty to sixor thirty to eight, and then you
know, finals thirty six to fourteen. And the young man sitting right beside
(38:22):
me, Caleb Cole, had eighteentackles in that game from linebacker position.
Wow, good game is there? And then so what now sixty seven yards
receiving? You caught sixty seven?I mean you had sixty seven or seven
yards? You played a pretty goodgame, is there? What great are
you in? I'm on the junior. You're a junior? Said, okay,
(38:44):
what all do you play? Iplayed receiver in linebacker? Oh boy,
okay, you don't get that combination. No, what do you play?
Come over that cornerback? Yeah? There you go. There we go.
We'll talk to the all right, there you gonna introduce yourself. My
name is Kevin Mason. I playedquarterback. That's other prop. All right,
okay, So how what was yourgame like last week? Oh?
It's pretty good. I threw forlike two three touchdowns, had a COVID
(39:07):
tackles on the defense. About it? I like that. I like that.
Did you throw a couple of him? Then? Right? Yeah?
I throw COVID of him he caughtOkay, he caught a COVID. All
right, So what do you thinkof your team? Well? I think
I think we were progressing as theseason goes on, and uh, we're
having more fun with it, we'lltell you, enjoying it. You're smiling,
Yeah, go ahead, Well we'reprogressing as a team, having more
(39:28):
fun when we play. I thinkwe could bounce back from the losses.
How many players y'all got on ateam? M around like twenty twenty?
Right? All right? So haveyou been playing ball the whole time?
Sir? How long you've been atSouthern Prep? It's my fourth year.
Both of y'all been there while it'smy fourth year. Did y'all play last
year? Have you've been here before? I don't know? You look for
(39:51):
me? Did he not come herewith you? You would love if you've
been here. That's all right, that's all right, that's all you just
overall? All right, there yougo. That's where you your brother,
y'all play. I was sitting heregoing I just swear anyway, So all
right, this week, I don'tknow much about the team. Do y'all
know much about him? Store County? We played him last year? They
were all right, we beat himthough, Okay, so do you if
(40:12):
y'all ever played eleven man football there, how do y'all give me? What
do y'all think that differ? Giveme the quick summary of the difference.
In your opinion, there's a lotmore room to work with because it's there.
That's it. That's that's really aboutit. It's the room. In
my opinion, I think any elevenman, it's a lot more. It's
a lot more crowded on the field. You gotta make a lot more reads
(40:35):
than usually do an eight man bothIf y'all y'all score, the Springwood scored
seventy something, I mean, that'samazing to me. If y'all what's the
well y'all scored? How many Fridaythirty six? Thirty six? Okay,
all right, all right? Howmany y'all played both ways? How many
players y'all have playing both ways?Right? Yeah? About everybody? Really?
(40:55):
Who kicks? Hm? Mah godmaha? All right? All right,
all right, good y'all practice Howlong to everybody? Goodt you?
I love y'all practice every day?All right? At least two hours?
Okay, at the most? Dowe maybe seems well? Listen, Steuart
County hadn't always been How long havethey been playing eight man? Third year?
(41:20):
Third year? He says, y'allto give one coach met one of
y'all's head set that we're swapping heads. That said, all right, so
Southern, are you on the road, Coach, are you on the road?
Yes, so we're on the road, lump in Georgia. I'm sorry,
I wasn't looking Stuart County. Theythis is their third year as a
public school playing eight man football. The first two years, you know,
we beat him thirty five six andthirty five zero, looking at him on
film. This year they're different. The first game they played, they won
(41:46):
fifty six thirty four against Notre DameAcademy up around uh Atlanta. They spread
it out and they're trying to letthat quarterback just run because he's super athletic.
And then you know depensive backs,if they come up too early,
he's just loaming it over the top, and if they don't come up,
he runs. Thank you, coach'sSouthern Prep. They got a one wind
(42:07):
of looking for another. One'll beright back into coaches Show. All right,
welcome back to the High School CoachesShow. We're coming to you live
(42:29):
from Most Original Barbecue, brought youby the author Peter clintant Mo's Original Barbecue,
Fox Sports, The Game, TheKicker, FM, Lee County's Best
Country Music, and next up CoachKitchens and Coach McDonald from when They're at
high school. Good afternoon, guys, How are you all right? Hey?
Uh? You tune one last weekHorse you being forty one thirteen.
Well, we're gonna go over thatone briefly. Then we're gonna talk about
(42:52):
hiller Holm. That's a big gamecoming up, all right, last week
against Horse You being coach, youwanna go over that one real quickly?
Go ahead? Yeah, kind ofweird. Uh, how was there years
ago? And flashbacks happened? Iguess eight years later? The lights went
out, Uh, and the secondquarter and we was in a blackout for
a few minutes. The same thinghappened years ago, same team, same
setting, everything, and at thesame time we was in a was in
(43:14):
a We started off a little slow, okay, but defensively got together offenusly
they took off. I had abig special team play and I think it
was what it was Twitter was attwelve to seven a half twelve. It
was it was. It was stilla game match for match, very very
good horser Ben team new coach,uh improved, Yeah, very very much.
(43:35):
Not the not the horse you benthat I've known in the past year
that we all fired. Y'all gotto go in though coach forty one points
she scored in a game one thirteen. Did y'all come out of that game
healthy? Uh? For the mostpart, I know everybody, everybody every
time he's got said a couple ofthings, you know this week dealing with
it, but uh yeah, forthe most part, we are, Uh,
you don't. We had a goodoffice showing last week. The boys,
you know, finally turned it ontothe second half what we've been hoping
(43:57):
for. H ran for four hundred, put up forty one. I mean,
I can't really big, you know, you can't coach it. You
got the Flying Squadron this week, coach best name, uh Man, there's
three and oh and I've seen I'veI've seen highlights of them, and I
see one of the three. Youwant to talk about? How what you
say about flying? I just lovethem. I love the man, I
(44:20):
love the name. Say it overand over. Squad It's just we we
hug it out or something. Goahead. Yeah, so, uh,
you know, Holling Home really good. A lot of the same kids back
from last year. Uh they goas uh the Fault kid and the May
kid goes, you know with Keldrenfalls brother, he was there last year,
(44:44):
May was there. Uh you know, with a lot of that attention
going to Keldrick. You know CJ. May had a really great year.
I mean he's a good football player, and uh, you know, obviously
our attention needs to be on that. But I will say this, you
know, if we if we cancome out and play with the same intensity
that we had the end of theHorsie Band, like the second half of
the Horsie Band game, on bothsides of the football. I really like
our football team. I think it'sa good football team when we're going in
(45:07):
that direction. But if we comeout like we did the first town,
it could be a very long night. But uh yeah No, I just
think that we got a really goodgame plan and we're really progressive and offensively
right now, and I like wherewe're kind of heading there. You go,
all right, you are? Didyou how much y'all talking? We
already talked about I can't the endof the lad Yeah, yeah, you
(45:29):
both y'all. Y'all, it looksto me like y'all has just been very
difficult compared to there's I don't wantto get into that, but what do
you see this team? Like youjust went through in your team. How
y'all match up? You wanna youwanna? I just matched up. I
think I had for had. Ithink very athletically most teams' right. Right,
It's just like told him all weekman, at some point you just
gotta let it loose. They're still, like said, they're still in that
(45:50):
ninth tenth grade frame I thing andnot understanding like they see Like like he
said, the fault kid is brother. The oldest one is at Albur now
now the youngest one because Alburt committedI believe as well and just been Oh,
I like, just come out onboth sides of the ball. Offensive
line, defensive line, that's whereit's one at. Just come out and
play our style like we've practiced, really good money on Tuesday, very good
physical days up front. Yes,and just come out and play that and
look like you said, just startstart fast. Yeah, we gotta starts
(46:14):
start fast. You know. Thewhole model for us, especially offensively defensively
up front, is you know, that's where we're gonna make our hay right.
I mean, we're we're pretty goodup there, at least we believe
that as coaches, and uh,you know, if our boys come out
and they just have that mentality wherewe're just gonna lock in, we're gonna
do it right here, you know. And uh, like I said,
the same mentality of the second halfof what you've been I think we're gonna
(46:36):
be in a really good spot rightthere. You we've been talking about inexperience
an underclassman. I guess they're growingup game again. They are. I
mean, I'm gonna tell you rightnow, we got shoot that whole entire
offensive line. Now we tweet onething, and I mean it's everybody's back
next year. The whole d line'sback for two years straight, you know,
linebackers back for two years straight.I mean, it's it's just a
(46:59):
matter of time before these boys clickinglike, Okay, we're not tenth graders.
Yeah, we played all last yearand all this year. It's time
to rock and roll. You know, we've seen it. We know what
to do and you and they're gettinggreat coaching. I mean, I've been
in coach kitching until he's been tocollege level and everything, and I've been
up in the seven eight level.I mean, this is some good stuff
that they're getting, I mean highlevel stuff in two eight. I mean,
(47:21):
and it's yeah, I think we'rereally doing a good job as far
as I putting them in the perfectspot to be successful. And that's you
know, that's half the battle.Just get him to walk in. I
just started to have a battle, guys. They you know, they scored
a lot of points thirty nine, thirty five, forty two. So always
good to see you guys. Thegame will be on the road, correct,
so safe travelers like you didn't wantto take care of beness you panthers.
(47:45):
Just they're on the road. We'reat mods. We're gonna keep it
in Chambers County when we come backat the Coaches Show presented about the North
Pete Clinic ring in spring Wood.Wildcats coach Joey Birch from Mose Barbecue.
When we come back. Bands doingit over there, good broack out music
(48:13):
fan bringing the heat from the CoachesShow Here did Mark Van Riggs bringing the
what do you call that? Theold djail over there there you got the
most Barbecue's River Bret scratching backs. The show's presented two part of the Orthopedic
Clinton d Mark. We got it, man, I got it. I
got it. Joey Burke, SpringwoodWildcats at the microphone at the podium.
Good evening, coach, good evening. How you doing. You got dreaming
(48:34):
there? Yeah, I got training. I'm waving it well wie there.
Oh, she going make sure she'sall right? Good deal. All right,
coach, you are hot four andI was gonna say three, but
you were four. We started earlyand three and over in the region.
Grat's on me a fifth bump onthat you, sir, turned that train
around up there. Good job.It was a fifty seven thirty win last
week over meadal View Christian. Goodfor you. It was good. It
(48:57):
was one of those games that,uh, you know, sometimes as a
coach you hate to play because youknow they're young, they hadn't won a
game in a long time, andyou hope your team goes out there and
takes care of business, you know, and improves that week. That's what
we preached. Let's let's worry aboutus getting better and go out there and
take care of business and we did. I you know, I think it
(49:19):
was forty something in the first quarterto nothing, and then the lights went
out. Oh so lessen On thathad a power surge and we were in
the back twenty minutes, and youknow, my kids kind of got cooled
down and stuff, and we wereable to play a lot of young kids.
Of course they're young, and itwas good for both teams and went
back and forth and they were ableto score a little bit and get some
confidence, which I felt good aboutthat. And it gave our younger players
(49:43):
a chance to get a whole lotof varsity experience. And some of those
guys are gonna have to help helpus later on. You know, when
the injuries arrived and things like thathappened. Was something coach, I didn'tmire
that because you won the game.It didn't matter if you won in both
seven or twenty seven. Yeah.So yeah, well I've been in both
both sides of that, that coachingand play, well, not playing,
but coach and I I've taken someof those losses telling me, I mean,
(50:05):
you didn't bother you that you wonthe game. You're sitting me telling
you played young kids in this story. It didn't bother you. I like
that some guys wanted to be fitseven nothing and played the starters. So
when I'm getting that as good foryou to be able to play your young
kids, it was a good usfor that. All right. You're fouring
old Cornerstone Christian coach. This weekat home in Landette. They are believed
three and they are three. They'reundefeit as well. Good football team.
(50:27):
They got a good quarterback and receiverduo. They're both juniors. They've been
playing since I've been But ninth gradequarterback just scrambles around and laws you're secondary
end to believing that it's a runand then he'll chunk that ball deep and
and and they're gonna be hard todefend. They score a bunch of points
as well, so it should beas shut out there at Lunette. Yeah,
all right, So your team, coach, give me a rundown?
(50:50):
How you your team? You thinkwhere they are? You? You're sitting
here in four and old if youobviously I would say you're improving, But
give me your thoughts on Yeah,I think we're improving every week. Uh.
And the big thing is, uh, like I mentioned before, you
know, we've got some kids thatweren't great football players when we got started,
and we've been bringing them along andthey're playing more and more. And
(51:10):
we actually started two new starters onthe defensive side of the ball last week
to give our guys some rest onthe offense and trying to get more players
playing, and we feel that's gonnahelp us when we hit the playoffs and
championship. Hopefully, you know,we'll have more depth and and you know,
if you're gonna get injuries and you'regonna get nicked and bumped up,
(51:30):
and we'll have guys ready to play. So I think on that aspect,
we're a lot better than we werelast year, being prepared to fill those
rops. Talking spring with the wildcatfootball go ahead you Oh no, I'm
just I was gonna ask you, coach. I was listening to everything everything
he said. You know, itsays you're seven and one overall against Cornerstone.
That's all time, but that's inthe eleven end. Last Yeah,
(51:52):
I think last year was the firsttime we played in the eight ma'am.
It was coach, that's right.I was. I looked like Jeff.
I was thinking, I'm thinking onefifty to eight. Is that right?
That's what it says. We playedhim twice last year. They beat us
in regular season, okay, andthen the first round of the playoffs we
come in there a little mad andthat's what care yea the last game that
he did fifty fifty eight there hego, so good job, all right,
give me some names. The kidsbeen playing? Oh, well,
(52:14):
a quarterback Luke Hudson. Uh,he's been playing well. He did a
great job. We came down anopening drive last week and I think he
completed four or five passes, andthey rushed him real good on the gold
line, and he did a littleathletic mood. And he's a big guy
to be doing an athletic mood.Linebacker jumped over him. He ducked in
and scooted in for a score. So he did well. Dylan Reeves was
(52:35):
a player of the week out therein the valley. He had three touchdowns.
Uh for him. I think hedid a punt return, a kickoff
return, and maybe around on thejet sweeping ran in. I thought he
had four. I gave him creditfor four. I thought he did a
pick sixty two. I thought hescored anyway you could score. But he
I said, well, if Isaid you just go along along many there
(52:57):
you go. Well, that's good. So he did well. CJ.
Hunts and is our running back. And you know, we didn't run him
that much because he could have hada thousand yards maybe in the game.
And he understood that, so wedidn't want to get him hurt. And
he got his yards and he gota couple of touchdowns and his brother Greg
called a touchdown pass. So uh, you know, we try to spend
around, keep everybody happy, andthat makes my life a whole lot of
(53:19):
easier. And it also forces thepressure on defenses that we face. Give
me some coaches. I don't thinkwe've ever gone over your staff. Oh
we've got a great staff. Gota great staff. Luke Hudson. There's
a quarterback. His dad helps usout. He's our baseball coach. I've
been there a long time. Iwas gonna say, I know that name.
Yeah, yeah, so he doesthat. Michael Foster is from here
at Auburn and his son plays atAlburn. He's a good football player.
We should come play at Springwood verybut no, we've talked about that.
(53:44):
He's gonna get good playing time thisyear next year at Auburn. That's where
he needs to be. And hisdad, Michael Foster h played football at
Livingston back in the day. He'sby my age and he helps us.
And we got a young guy Hunterplant that that really something. We got
a good mixture of old play thereone time a Hunter. Uh he's from
Lagrange like baseball at point and Okay, So that's our four old staff coaches
(54:07):
that we have and a great groupof guys just to be around and and
and that's part of coaching that youreally enjoy too when you get out of
it and you miss that part ofbeing around that in the fellowship of your
coaches and and all good men tobe around a man. What shall especially
side we side me say yeah,oh off coach and we're back at Mole's
(54:39):
High School. Coaches should continues deMark Jeff fan Riggs all live dacent Ease
in the house as well. We'reevery Wednesday night or our show is presented
to you by the Orthor Peter Clintic. Appreciate East Alabama's excellent Ortho Peter Clintic
place to go and he's setled outin West Georgia and we appreciate what they
do. We're gonna talk a littleRussell County football. The Warriors had a
(55:00):
tough loss last week. Three points, I think, right, because it's
good to see you, coach.Good to see you think, Timmy is
what what do you coach at RussellCounty? The coach offensive line? Okay,
sir, all right? Was itthree? I'm I lost what I
got to score? Right here, coach, I was thinking to say,
I was gonna say the final scorewas a three point game. I believe,
yes, sir, it was.Can you remember it before I found
(55:21):
it? Oh? Lord, Igot it right here. It was twenty
four twenty one. That's it,all right. Tell us a little bit
about that game, coach to standHope. Yeah, you know we came
out in the first half. Uh, you know, started a little bit
on offense, got down ten zero, you know, win a battle a
little bit. I think we madeit, uh one score game, you
(55:42):
know, going in a half anduh and then you know, second half
we made a quarterback change. Uhand it was just back and forth at
that In the second half we drovedown the field. Last drive, you
know, got's about two yard line. How to how to depend only on
the sign, which was kind oftough, but you know we uh we
got got pushed back from that penaltyand uh and just through lead interceptions that
(56:07):
kind of sealed the deal. FanHope. Okay, all right, so
it sounds like you got when yousay Jean quarterback back, he kind of
played great game up. Yes,sir, Bryson and Riggins. You know
they act half when six were letthrough hunt ards you know, average five
yards. So he led the LAteam down the hill. What is he?
(56:30):
Yeah? Interesting? All right,So it's a big tough game.
Obviously you could win, oh sir, that you still win this this week
Carver, right, yes, sir, all right, tell me a little
bit about Carver. They're one andtwo. I think, yes, sir,
they are. You know, they'reuh, they're you know, a
good Carver team. They're they're athletic, they're big, they're fast. You
know we uh, they're they're adifferent team than last year. You know,
(56:52):
last year they had two guys thatwere top fifteen players in the country
and so this year they have youknow, really good players. But uh,
you know, we we feel goodabout about going in with the game
plan that we have. Yeah, they've beaten two team they beat they actually
beat dead and they lost the gas. The city just are beating apart from
death wins. All right, Soweek, the guys, you know,
(57:19):
they're they're motivated. We've lost twogames by six points. I was about
to say that, and uh,yeah, you know it's it's a two.
We're two minutes and six points awayfrom being two and up. So
the guys still have a lot offaith. You know. I think Bryson,
you know, being successful and gettingsome first team reps and preparing like
he was going to be the starterkind of helped, uh, motivated the
(57:42):
team because you know, they theylike the freshness, they like the newness.
They want something that they believe thatthey can get behind, you know.
So you know it's been it's beena good week, good week of
practice, wins. It will doso good when it comes. Yeah,
oh yeah, especially at Russell County. You know we're I get it.
We're hungry for it. Yeah, you getting so close almost like within the
grease just can't go all right, well, injuries and your team's you know
(58:04):
overall healthy, all good, yes, sir, Yeah, you know,
just some bumps and bruises here andthere, but no different than everybody in
week four. All right, anythingelse you want to throw away in coach?
Hey? Uh not a better timeof year than than being here at
mose as. I love coaches, sir. If you have n I had
pulled pork platter and back of cheeseand baked beans. There you go.
(58:24):
No that good, but out ofpudding. Saw what just happened? Right?
Oh yeah? Brother? Thanks coach, Yes, sir, thanks for
beloo. All right. That's thenRussell County the Warriors looking for their first
win this week they got carvered. All right. You're listening to HIC School
Coaches Shows from was Barbecue. We'regonna talk with Borgarden Haunted coach Justin Johns
when we come back. Bring itback Moose, Welcome back to Mose Barbecu,
(58:55):

what the pet Clinic. We're rollingright along. We're here every Wednesday night
at six to eight. You canlisten to this on the Heart radio app
on your smartphone ninety seven point sevenKid Griff Him or Fox Sports The Game
nine ten thirteen ten Smith Station isin the house. Gentlemen. Good to
(59:15):
see ya all to night. Iwas, yes, sir, hit to
see, well one's on the dealbecause he's on the deal. Yep,
sir lost my workout partner. Ohmy god, Vin were he's he's he
has got his left arm because hedoesn't a sling. He's on the dal
Yep. Out there, we're tryingto play a little football, right,
trying to play many too old nowtoo chi coach Waltkins. It was too
(59:36):
old yep. And like I said, was just really upset. Yeah,
he was hyping me up. Yeah, I'm sure you were all right last
week Prattville. Uh was it fortythree nine? Tough loss? Prap like
they got clicking. I'll let youor whoever wants yes, so I'll speak
on the defense side of the ball. We started out we didn't start out
pretty. We didn't start out goodat all. We couldn't stop the run.
And we that's why I taught youguys last week that's what we had
(59:59):
to do is stop the run.And we weren't successful at that. And
then we came back and we puttogether some stops and then we would give
up the big play over top,and so it just didn't work out for
us. But the kids. Youknow, the outcome what we want,
it wouldn't what we wanted it,but they they still competed and so that's
that's all we can ask for.But gave up big plays and couldn't stop
(01:00:20):
the run. So yeah, Sooffensively, really and truly looking at it
and going back and watching the tape, I think it was our best offensive
performance to date. And I reallythink that we took a step forward,
not just up front, that asan offense together. Quentin Brooks was twenty
three for one ninety with a touchdown. And I mean that kid, that
(01:00:42):
kuld is special. And I tellmy offensive line all the time, you
know, we have to make himspecial and we have to allow him to
do what he can do on afootball field along with protecting the quarterbacks.
So you know, I think thatwe're moving in the right direction offensively.
You know, our kids competed. We shuffled around a lot of spots up
front, but you know, wejust gotta keep checking along, man,
(01:01:07):
And that's what it's about. Anotherin another region game, Enterprise this week.
It's a team that beat Auburn acouple of weeks over here at the
Duck and then got blown out ofthe waters last week, uh forty three
to nine to Central. So talka little bit about I'm playing uh excuse
me, yeah, talk a littleb about playing enterprise. So obviously,
first thing well coached with coach BenBlackman, so that two things stand out.
(01:01:30):
Very well coached, and they getafter it. They play the game
hard, their offense after you know, we were looking at animals Sunday and
they come out in a lot ofdifferent formations and a lot of different shifts.
So it's it's gonna we have achallenge Friday night. And so they
run triple option and stuff. Soif we if if we don't play our
responsibility, our defensive guys, thenit'll it could be possible along night if
(01:01:52):
we don't play our responsibilities. SoI gotta be disciplined going in and we'll
see what we can do, Yosaid on me off. So the Coachman
and coach tonicker at Spanish fourth whenwe were down there. So you know,
I've got nothing but respect for thoseguys. I don't know how hard
they work and what they do toto go and prepare their kids and the
cultures that they build, and youknow we're gonna have to match them.
(01:02:15):
We're gonna have to come off theball and we're gonna have to be physical,
and we're gonna have to try toimpose our will. And they are
really really good on defense, andso it's gonna be a challenge for us
up front. They're pretty multiple, they'll getting beared, They'll people will be
coming from every direction. So youknow, we've got to communicate. They're
a really good defense. You know, saw coming into UH Auburn and beating
(01:02:36):
them. Yeah, so you knowwe're it's a tall task. Yea,
it will be. Let me saywhat we're talking to some station football.
They got an enterprise this week. You're right there. Defense is phenomenal.
They didn't they didn't have a greatnight offensively against all them because they scored
a lot of points. Defensively, yes, they didn't really have to to
win the game because all you know, some turnovers, but defense created those
turnovers by rushing the quarterback. Andyou know, and you're right about coach
(01:02:58):
Blatman's offense. You don't ever knowwhat he's gonna I'm telling you, So
we we we kind of we kindof try to keep it simple for our
kids this week. Just get himpersonnel wise, and just tell them put
the pressure on us and let ourkids play fast. So al right,
y'all holding up help for us becauseI know this. They had a very
physical game last week. I thinkthey had some kids go out during the
game. I'm sure you saw him, fam what about y'all U. So
(01:03:21):
defensively, I feel like we arewe got some defensive lined in back.
We've got some key pieces. Wegot h one kid back, Michael Bonner
or Michael Bonner he's been out fortwo or three weeks now getting him back,
and then Cam Warren. So Ifeel pretty good health wise defensively so
and offensively I feel good about ittoo. I mean we've got we've got
(01:03:42):
all our starters locked in and readyto go, So I feel pretty good
about it. You rotate any quarterbacks, you just too. We have rotated
in the past. The Central Gradegame, I think we played all three.
I didn't real it was just three. Okay, yeah, we played
all three. So yeah, wejust you know, and our offense is
about funding what's working right then youknow, we can be multiple if we
(01:04:03):
need to be multiple, but youknow, if there's a hot hand that
we gotta go with them, we'llgo with it, all right, coach,
see Coach Washington's gonna see yall.Anything else you want to miss before
we wrap up? Man, that'sit. Thank you all for being here.
Thank you good to see both ofus. Take care of your shoulder
there, all right, you gotit? All right, We're at to

We to think North Peter Clinic,Fox Sports the Game. We'd like to
thank our Heart Radio and yes theKicker w k k R. Mister Saster,
(01:05:09):
if you didn't know, that isLee County County's best country man.
Bringing that to that, it's Bourguardtime, baby, it's the guard time.
Good day coach. Now we're minusshow where but we're minus nine.
We're minus appreciate it just good.Yes, yes, thank you. Guys.
Back in a minute, Yeah, appreciate it. Guys. Man,
(01:05:29):
a man's already sliding that thing. When that thing starts to go south,
it really goes south. Really oneminute, one minute, one minute.
I like it, coach tough lossless. Oh you're about to tell us
what's your partner? Yes, well, coach Wallace had a birthday to day
birthday? Yes, what does thatgotta do with coming to the coaches?
Yeah? Really, well, Ithink his wife just came back from being
out of town. Yeah, soshe came back from birthday. I'll give
(01:05:50):
me. I don't think he turnedsixty nine though, he don't believe that,
but but I thought last week.Yes, yes, I'm gonna slap
the mayor anyway. Hey, lookat that cute little baby right there.
Ain't that cute? I ain't gotno more there. That's Oh I wish
I got two grandsons like that. But all right, anyway, I'm sorry.
I getting fed by good looking littlechildren like that. And look me
(01:06:13):
and my two grandson. His grandsonis a good looking boy here too.
All right, coach, you hada tough overtime. Man, We look,
I tell you this it was oneovertime. But I'll tell you this,
if you're a fan of high schoolfootball and you enjoy like the Friday
night lights and a great atmosphere, then you missed a treat last Friday in
Borguard because that was two good footballteams that battled Man and uh, you
(01:06:35):
know, hats off to coach Hunterand those guys at Valley Man. They
they did what they had to do. I mean they controlled the line of
scrimmage on both sides of the footballand found the way that made made a
play in overtime. And hats offto those guys man. So, uh,
it goes out way sometimes, youknow, football is like that.
So but our kids are resilient anduh we learned. You know, we
(01:06:56):
try to help anybody understand that. You know, there's gonna be losses in
life, and what can you learnfrom him? You know, how can
you bounce back? So I feellike our kids, We've had a good
week of prep and our kids areare gonna bounce back. I expect us
to, you know, should playwell. Friday night. All right,
it was fourteen Uh over time, tough loss. You're feeling like, oh
I'm good, all right? Putyou to two and one, first loss
(01:07:18):
of the season. You're about toplay talasy coach on the road. They
have not won a game, butthey would love to beat the guard.
No, I'm just saying, hey, hey, look there's hey we'd love
to beat them too. You knowwhat I'm saying. I get it,
I get it right. Yeah, that was a battle last year at at
(01:07:38):
Border Guards. So you know thecoach battles man. He's he'll be a
Hall of Famer when his time comes, so uh, you know, he'll
have his bunch ready to play. They'll be very physical, like the line
of scrimmage with you know things thathe's been doing, I guess twenty plus
years running. That Sometimes it's anotre Dame box version of that kind of
(01:07:59):
stuff, you know, double tides. You know, it throws you back
to you know, back when probablymister yeah, yeah, yeah, they
didn't they didn't have face mask, they didn't have face masks. You know,
things of those natures, and man, there's no need to be ugly.
But I have seen the coach, you know, I've been to a
game when y'all played him before.Yeah, look, they throw the receipt
(01:08:19):
if you played receiver at talasy Man. Good lock practice must be alone for
you, son, because him suckers. They come in their baby. You
know, several years ago I wentand watched the game. I don't know
if it was the coach before you, the coach before they had, I
can't remember, but uh, hewas there. And they started out in
the swim wont of a spread, and they had the young man that went
(01:08:41):
and pitched at Auburn High I meanAllburn University and had a good quarterback and
they couldn't do anything. And nextthing I know, they were like put
the foot and was running baby.So I mean that, you know,
that's just your sence. Coach Battleshas been at Talis even before I was
at Borgard. That's kind of whatyou expected out of out out of here
him and I think he's been doingit even the other when he was in
(01:09:02):
bib County, they did it,you know. So, uh, you
know that's something we're gonna we preparedfor it, you know, we kind
of expected out of the coach. They've given him forty points and three straight
games. I guess the uh excuseme. They've had a few issues with
their defense, but I know youroffense will be ready to go Friday night.
Coach, how is your team aftercoming off the self the Valley game?
(01:09:29):
Well, again, you know,we didn't we didn't score a fourteen
last week. So we've got todo some things better on offensively. And
I say this because Coach Wallace isnot here right so, uh but now
we we've got to do a betterjob up front just controlling the line of
scrimmage against another physical team in Tallasea. And then defensively, we got to
make sure that again, I mean, you got controlling the line of scrimmage.
(01:09:50):
I think that's gonna be the keyto the to the ball game again,
just like it was last week againstValley. And this is a region
you're very important to when you're regiongame. Yeah yeah, when you they
got six teams in the region.Yeah, it gets yeah, it gets
here, it gets really really yeah. Okay, all right, so uh
yeah, I know, I know, I know. All right, So
(01:10:11):
your team's sitting here pretty good.I guess obviously you don't have anybody out,
do you. Well? We actuallywe we as far as injuries,
we we lost one of our offensivealignment last thing. Good So really,
man, senior, great kid, just hate hate it. For that,
for that kid in that family.I hate that. Well, I'm sorry
to hear that. Coach, Ididn't know that. But we were talking
about have your kids bounced back intheir mental state, because I think that
(01:10:34):
I think they've done pretty good. We've uh, you know, a lot
we remind them is it doesn't reallymatter where who you play. You know,
if you're in the right kind ofprogram, you're not gonna change from
week to week what that is.So but just can continue to kind of
understand our blueprint process and all thatkind of stuff. So I think our
kids have handled handled it pretty wellthis week. Well I hope. So,
(01:10:56):
coach, you're on the road atTalis. If you ain't been to
Talis, have not, I'm Iplayed on the Friday night. We did
the little middle school JV before, but not I've never been there on a
Friday night. Okay, so I'mexcited about that. You've never been to
Hall O'Brien stadium, not play Fridaynight, no SNODI JV games. All
right, real quick, anything onyour I don't know he's I don't know
what he's doing. Because if youget your younger kids playing yea one Monday
(01:11:17):
night, good yeah, good,so good to see you. Hope you
get the feeling. But yes,sir Van, mister Van, we appreciate
you man, thank you. That'sJustin Jones. He's running the show with
the Guard. We'll be back withSmitty Grider. Benjamin Russell on the I'm
from the High School Coaches Show presentit tell you about Lord Petty Clinic at
moles Hey. Welcome back to theHigh School Coaches Show. It is Jeff
(01:11:49):
Sasser, d Mark, Mitchell VanRiggs. We're coming to you live from
Moe's Original Barbecue. It's brought toyou by the old Pete Clinict Moe's Original
Barbecue. Fox Sports the Game andKick ninety seven point seven County's Best Country
Music. And we got coach MityGrider from Benjamin Russell. He's up next
coach. Last week a big winagainst KLERA fifty seven seven. Is that
(01:12:11):
what I'm looking at? That's it? How far? How far trip coach?
Uh? Little over an hour hour, let's see, probably an hour
and a half. Been all upin you know, been to uh,
you know, Pale City, anduh been to Pelham and what's the other
little place up to? Uh,there's a school up there. It was
in Buregards region years ago, butthen they moved up to six eight one
(01:12:33):
h made us pay to broadcast. You remember the school then high Helena Helena
Helena been up in that area, but I've never been to Kalira. Yeah,
it's uh, you know, it'sa little bit south of Birmingham.
But it's a really fast growing andthey they've gone from three eight to six
a pretty quick and they were sayingthat they're probably gonna be seven eight next
(01:12:54):
time around, so it's growing. It's part of that you know, Birmingham
spread, you know that's right.Oh yeah, with Chelsea and all that.
Everybody just moving too those areas andthen it gets growing, you know.
And they were Friday night was toughon them. They had a kid
dyeing, a car accident the weekendbefore, so they had a lot going
on. Yeah, you gonna talkabout that game a little bit because I
(01:13:15):
mean, we don't have it.We don't have one this week. No,
we can talk about we'll have sometime. Let's talk about Homewood.
It was we we got you know, they took the ball first and uh
went right down the field and scored. I mean, didn't even have a
third down and they won that.Thomason said, we want we deferred,
okay, but they took the balldown the field, and uh, I'm
sitting there going, uh oh,you know, I don't know what we're
(01:13:36):
in for. But our offense playedreally really well. I think we punted
once all night and uh we uhwe scored I don't know, three or
four five possessions in a row andkind of got some breathing room and we
we uh you know, quarterback wasfifteen out of seventeen for a two hundred
and seventy three yards and four touchdowns. Coach so Good had a back rush
(01:14:00):
for over one hundred, so youknow, offensively played really really well.
It's what we needed. Is kindof kind of what we've been expecting out
of that side of the ball. And uh Chris Foster, our slot receiver,
had a big night. He hadeight catches for over one hundred yards
and three touchdowns and uh, likeI said, that played really well.
And the defense after that first drivesettled in and I think they got past
(01:14:23):
midfield against the ones maybe one othertime in the game, and we blocked
the field goal on that possession, and uh, you know it was a
It was a great night for us. We got to play a lot of
people. You know, we startedplaying the JV guys in the back middle
of the third quarter. Our ourbackup quarterback, got two possessions with the
starting offense took him down through atouchdown pass. So you know, we
(01:14:45):
got we got to work on alot of things. It was a good
night for us. All Right, well you're off this week. He got
homewood next week. You know,I hear a lot of couple people that
had this off week. They thisoff week here they say, hey,
we worked on ourselves this week.Next week we'll start working on homewood.
Or if you started put some homewoodstuff. We we've we've done some uh
our defensive staff in the in theirwalk through time and started working on the
(01:15:08):
formation adjustments. They they run aboutfifty different formations and so they started working
on that sum But uh, forthe most part, it's it's been we're
practiced, uh yesterday today and we'regonna practice tomorrow. Three days and gave
him off Monday and Friday, andit's been you know, us against us
kind of like fall camp or springtraining. I'm nervous, I'm blowing the
(01:15:30):
whistle really fast because right now weonly have one healthy running start, you
know, running back with our ones, and we can't get him hurt in
practice. But we've tried to makeit, you know, fairly physical and
and work on some technique stuff. And there's a couple of things we're doing
with the offense that's a little wrinkleswe're gonna add that they've worked on and
uh, you know, it's uh, it really has been a week about
(01:15:53):
us. But I wouldn't say we'vecompletely not worked on Homewood. We've We've
done a few things, especially withthe defense. There you go, coach,
I understand you think your team isgetting better. I hope. So
we were definitely better Friday night. You know, I hope that it was
mostly about us being better and notmaybe not them not being very good.
(01:16:13):
I hope, you know, Ihope that's not the case. We'll know
a lot Friday. They play Homewoodthis week, and uh so we'll know
a lot about where you know, both of those teams are coming out of
that game. Homewood is not Yeah, they're over. But like I was
telling Jeff, they lost to SpainPark and best Avia and John Carroll by
four points and John Carroll's undefeated. They are so I mean best BESTAV lost
(01:16:39):
one game to Thompson, right, and then Spain Park lost to Hoovers.
They're only lost, I think.So you know it's it's gonna be a
challenge and uh, you know,we'll we'll see. I really like where
we are right now as a team. Our kids are really motivated to get
better. And uh, you know, we're having a good week. It's
been a productive week. And Itold him this week is not an all
(01:17:00):
week, it's a it's a weekfor us to get better. You know,
we're just not playing a game thisweek, and so they they I
think they bought into that. Andyou know, we're getting an extra day
of weights this week, so hopefullysome of that will carry us on through
the meat of the season. Youknow, it's about to get get serious,
it is. Coach Grider's always goodto see you, man. I
appreciate you coming. Look, yourmom got back on the right track.

On the offensive ball, we hadDarlington and a kid ain't Anthony Wheat.
We also had on defense we hadJamara Payne, Jalen Hart and Xavier
(01:19:09):
Allen also had a good game forus. On defense side of up,
we had an interception by Roger Nilmsthat also was a great play for us.
Also, now did you tell meHart is the brother of the cousin
cousin? Yes, the Hard isthe cousin of JC. I meant to
say JC and the many rings sayjust this last name. Okay, h
(01:19:29):
a lot of points. Didn't giveup many Uh, tell me a little
bit what you think, how youthink your team is at this time at
three and though our defense is playingreal good football, because listen, are
doing a great job over there withour defense. Our often can tell coach
JJ he's done a great job overthere. We just gotta put everything together,
you know, every Friday I tellour kids, we gotta put all
three levels of the game together.Offense, defense and special teams. So
every week we go in and wetry to base our week off of having
(01:19:53):
a good offensive, defense and specialteam practice. Well, has everything been
good, coach, I'm so far, everything's been good. You know,
just hope the team shows Friday. You know, just you have a good
week of practice and you know youwant to carry a thing over the Friday.
So I hope everything just works outfor his Friday. Chill kickers coach.
If he got a good kicker, let me tell you, I got
a kicker. Oh he rose upon that one. I like that,
coach, I got a kicker.Now he finally got flor He's done a
(01:20:14):
very good job for us. He'sdoing a very good job. He made
a couple of Florida, made itthe extra points and and doing good on
a kickoff. Man, you know, knock on wood. I just hope
this kid, Cantinet coach does playsoccer. He does play soccer. Soccer
programs. There you go. Ihad this kid in the third and fourth
grade. He was playing football withme, then league football, and I
(01:20:36):
was coaching the team. He wasplaying center, and he just continued to
grow and then he kind of straightaway from football and then he came out
this year and he started kicking fieldgoals, icking Earstra points and then he's
done a very good job for us. Last game, he did a tremendous
job for us. I know that'sbeen some issues. Yeah, small football
man, it's not what I mean. But I don't think your soccer programs.
Yeah, it has like it becauseI see guess and guess what the
(01:20:58):
soccer coach last year. Yes,I know, but I'm serious. I
mean I I do. You willget some Yeah, you know you have
a chance. We know the bigprogram the soccer all right. So I
was going back this week central Haneyvillecoach. All right, so tell me
a little bit of I don't I'mtrying to pull them up all right now.
I'm getting them, all right. They are owing two uh huh Maplesville
and the Guard. A lot ofpeople be able to against them. Exactly
tell me what tell me about them? All? The thing is is that
(01:21:20):
they had a good team, verygood team coached up very well. Then
years just gotta go out and playgood football, you know, eight from
every Friday here on out. You'regonna play good competition and good teams.
It's just what teams did you bringingto the table, which you know,
so you gotta have good teams. You I got play good football for US.
Coach Wilson, Joe Wilson was braggingon your program sporting, how many
kids play multiple sports, and howy'all cooperate with your athletes. Of course
(01:21:42):
you have two and small, butI think it's an honor and attribute to
you guys and all your coaches.Mister Wheeden. Yeah, because you gotta
have all your athletes. Yeah, exactly, exactly. You know, each
sport compliment each sport. You know, our track program gonna help with our
speed. You know, our basketballprogram, we got a good basketball program.
And then I don't know, wegot all the kids, a boy,
just about all the kids playing football. About how soccer just helped us.
(01:22:03):
You know, just it's a greatthing. A lot of good things
going on. Great Over that LowChoker High School. We has our flag
football team. Our girls have aflag football team. They're doing good also,
So a lot of great things goingon. But look, you know
coach Wilson he was talking about ladythinking about her. Yeah, he said,
you know, I was reading thearticle about a young lady from Look,
and she she she played flag football, softball, basketball ran track.
(01:22:26):
Think she and was a honor student, honest student. I think she won
an award this week or something maybeor something. And he was he was
ragging on it so unbelievable. Butcoach Freako, you got it going on.
Man, you guys you still playingeight both ways eight both hey,
this the temperature is getting right foryou. You have you about to pass
the bad part, aren't Yes,sir? And they feel good. Can
(01:22:46):
you tell him getting more accustomed tothe time, you can. As far
as being on the field got Wegot a little rain to day too,
that kind of helped out did ButI'm talking about during the game, doing
the game. All those guys,Yes, yes, yes, you gets
getting, they're getting it's getting better. And then the thing is they still
out heat timeout, so you knowit's still good. I'm glad they're just
they don't need to stop that exactly. You know that you never know,
you know you're right about wet temperature, fake rights kids, you know what
(01:23:08):
I'm saying. So it was alwaysgood to do that. It's always good
to see you. Thank you somuch having Yeah, everything we appreciate one
way in the polka and you gotit there three and oh and undefeated on
me four and over. After thisweek, Davill Roger McDonald, we come
back to Moles High School Coaches Showpresented by the Orthopedic. Then it continues.
(01:23:39):
All right, welcome back to thecoaching Show, coming to you live
from Mole's Original Barbecue. Pump itup, Pump up, pump upa vau
and he's he's the best of itthere. He's brought to you by the
Old Peedy Clinic, most original Barbecue, Fox Sports the Game ninety seven point
seven Kicker FM, Lee County's BestCountry Music. Next, next coach up
(01:24:00):
is Davel High School. Was coachRoger McDonald's coach Roge. Right, good
to see he's only one calls youRod, not the only one I allowed
last the only person I allowed. He allowed Coach Roge. He allows me
to do it, and I didyou? Did your folks call you Roger?
That's the course, that's his name, everybody everybody growing up in my
whole lot of guy. But alot of people say Roger. My dad's
(01:24:20):
Roger, Dad's Roger. So wewere always right. He's like your day
as a so I mean, that'swhy you get a lot of you know,
he just had a birthday, lads, was he was like a child.
That's rights right, they were. They just care of me. He's
right, that's really. I lovehim so much. His dad took care
of me as mom. They werejust wonderful people. And I've always called
(01:24:42):
him coach right, it's not it'sall respect. He knows that too.
So Hey, I want to saypublicly, I I saw your campus last
week, last Saturday, up andday with them walking for hope with the
South mentmental health coach at football. You got a beautiful place up here.
I want to come in to you. Oh it's beautiful. But you know
it ain't me. A lot ofpeople, I understand, over the years
put a lot into that remodel, that school. Uh, that newfield house
(01:25:09):
that is set at all the field, I have not seen it. The
money that was spent on the playingsurface over time when Coach White was there,
you know, he he manicured ithes like golf course. He look,
we practice on it a lot morethan he ever did. Really.
Yeah, I have to Well,it doesn't look like but he'll ride by
and I see him up there, and I bet he he kids up there.
(01:25:30):
Yes, But I gotta do whatI gotta do because our practice field
it's just not even good enough shapefor me to be doing a lot of
wide open stuff. A lot ofhope we can do some grunt work over
there, but we had to geton the fit we do. But uh,
you know we got that nice realmore and so it's pretty cool.
Yeah, we I worked hard onbecause there's a lot of pride in that
community with that field coach. Itgot my coach White, he's responsible for
(01:25:55):
the initial turf and yes, andit's grass now, yeah great. I
wasn't always up the baseball he isnice. But the field house, just
the stands, it's just I wasup on the top road. Yeah,
I mean the top road looking down. I just said, man, I
got a call. I mean, you know over there are gym. We
basically are gonna have a brand newgym here in about two weeks. They've
been working on that for a right, I didn't know the most two years.
(01:26:15):
Okay, yep, brand new gym. Uh it's all right there.
Elementary high school based on one campus. But it is beautiful. But like
I said, a lot when Igot there, the old mayor said,
coach, you know, win afew games every year. Uh, don't
let the kids get in too badof trouble and keep that field up.
That's the only friend there. Yougo hand up. But you know,
I'm like, when I were gonnawin some games. Yeah, I know
(01:26:38):
that, but that field. Richardgot that field to where it is.
He did that. It's beautiful.It's beautiful. I just I just didn't
want to leave that out. Okay, Well, thank you twenty six,
twenty win last week. Congratulations overWeaver coach. Uh, it's good ball
game. You know, they wentup fourteen and nothing on us and uh
early in the game or thirteen nothing, but they were gonna We knew they
(01:27:00):
were gonna freezes. Unlike one ofthe newspapers when they asked me and they
printed it, they said that Itold him the kids froze up. But
what I was talking about they runthe freeze on offense where they try to
get you to jump off side.We had practiced it for two weeks.
Well, in the first drive wejumped off sides six times for them to
go score. And I'm like,we've been practicing it for two weeks.
(01:27:23):
But we have one senior out thereon defense. A lot of kids have
never played and I'm like, youknow, that's fine because after the first
drive, didn't jump off side againthe rest of the night. And it's
just they're learning because we were soyoung. Uh. Then we had a
defensive back that this was only hissecond game to ever start in got beat
on a long pass. They're upthirteen to nothing. Really, I didn't
(01:27:46):
know they jumped out. Yeah, and then we rolled off four and fifty
nine yards rushing on. Oh hehad patience, didn't you. We just
rolled on then. But uh,we fumbled twice inside of fifteen and that's
why it's they close. But theywere a much improved team that hired a
new coach who retired from Georgia. We knew they were more physical than they
(01:28:06):
were, and they had some goodathletes and had a good plan. Uh
and it turned out to be areally good game. We lost a kid
early on the defensive line, uhscreen uh mcl and so we were kind
of that those fourteen swamps. RememberI tell y'all about last week. You
had to make fourteen changes. Youhad to make one. Oh yeah,
(01:28:29):
and we had kids all of asudden had to play both plays. Are
like, man, I thought Iwas a tight end I'm playing defensive tackle
every night. I'd tell you know. So, uh it was. It
was a battle. It was agood game. But like I said,
because one of them, even thoughthe score was close, I didn't feel
like it was close. I justyou know, you knew your team.
I thought we were okay, andlike I said, we just had to
(01:28:50):
fumble those two times. But youknow, the kids, they got to
learn from that hold the ball andone time we just wasn't carrying it good.
The other time the kid for themthat they had several really good players
and one on play safety. Hecome up. Our back had the ball
high and tight, but he puthis helmet right on it like you teach
it, and it popped it rightout. It was just a good play
from the other team. So anyway, we had had a big win.
(01:29:13):
Wanted to know when the region gotto go to sacks this week. You
know, they lost the buell ofthis past week. H They hadn't won
a game yet. They graduated alot of kids last year and the starting
quarterback is now the starting quarterback atAnniston who I think scored four touchdow Oh
last Friday, you were so rudahead. He did they're not the same
(01:29:34):
as they were, but we aren'teither. I mean, we're not saying
I hain't seventeen seniors. Also,it's a good point, but I do
feel like we've gotten better each game. From the scrimmage against Lynnette, even
though we lost to be Becomber,I thought we were better than we were
in the scrimmage against Lynette when wescored more point. You know how it
is as a coach, you're lookingat more than just and then we felt
(01:29:55):
like we were definitely better against Weaver, and we felt like we've gotten better
each week at practice. That's allin all you ask one you go,
you're home on the road. Youhad the road on the road, you
beat safe. Coach is good tosee, right, thank you, good
job, but good to see whereit moves. Our coach is presented to
you by the author Peter Hunt. We'll come back with Lafaette Coach one Williams.
(01:30:25):
Nobody cares about the bray excuse Welcomeback to most Barbecue High School.
Coach You show continuous presented by theauthor Pete Clintic Demart Jeffin Van Jason's left
the building, but not the LafetteBulletdogs. Good evening, coach, even
good. I'm gonna shake one morning. So let's see y'all. How's everybody
tonight? Good? Good to seeyou two. We uh the uh Lafaette
(01:30:45):
Bulletdogs. I think I said everyright in the house here we got two
more coaches that all right? Coach, it was a tough one last week
for your team. I'm gonna getthat final score, uh, coach,
I had it in my hands. It was forty one six to real ten,
Real times, A very good footballteam, undefeated. Talk a little
bit about that game. Our youngguys played to a better opponent. You
(01:31:08):
know, sometimes you're gonna do abetter opponent. They got a good team.
They they do. They're gonna gofar this thing this year. But
our guys stepped up and fought aslong as we could with what we had,
and so we were proud of ourguys were standing up as long as
they could. All right, let'smove on from that, coach. We're
gonna come up to look forward BarbaraCounty. They're wanting one. Uh.
(01:31:28):
This is a region game. Tellme a little bit about Barbara County.
Coach left has done a great job, has got a lot of those guys
back out uh playing ball now theylook like a different team. This week,
we've been working on us. We'retrying to we're trying to find a
way to get a win. Soit's all about us this week. You
(01:31:50):
know, we gotta fix us.And you know our coaches have done a
great job this week, and everybody'syearning for a win and we're gonna find
a way to try to get one. Yeah, coach, starting your thoughts,
you want way just I feel likewe had an opportunity, Like I
said, even in defeat, wehad a lot of young kids to step
(01:32:10):
up and play and just looking downthe road not too far, but we're
hoping that those kids would be ableto step in and they'll get some experience.
And like I said, we've beenhere before. So hopefully we can
get on track this week and uhturn this thing around and see what we
can l off five in the room. We y'all haven't been known to do
that, you know what I mean, y'all? Well, we got our
we got some we got some injuredguys back. It's good. So good.
(01:32:32):
What three guys back? Three guysback? So we were hoping a
little different thing now, Well, your team has since you've been there,
has had pretty good success late inthe year. Yes, sir, I
mean I don't I would think that'dbe progressing every year. You might have
a different thought. What do youthink, No, sir, that's that's
what we talked about. And likeI said, getting two or three guys
(01:32:55):
back starters back helps, So youknow that that's that's the difference. Right
now we're looking at being able toget our team back together. Home game,
coach, third game in a row, second region game. Very important
to get that done before you headout to Goshen right next week. Yes,
sir, it's so very important.Yeah. So big crowd. Barbara
County beat uh Calhoun and lost toLuverne. Yeah, so they better offensively,
(01:33:20):
better defensively, I would say betteroffensively. Like I say, coaches
done well getting a couple of thosebasketball players back out. That's what I
did when I was there, whenI told him you could get them out.
You know, Barbara County is veryrich in traditional athletes. Yeah,
you're right, You are right. So he's got him out. Yeah,
(01:33:42):
and that shows. Uh. Yousee, they won the first game.
They ain't won the game since Ileft. They were eighty two. I
think it's that right, Yeah,I think that's true. Yeah, you're
right, because they had it inthe in the paper. You're right.
Yeah, they've been Yeah, theysaid ten years exactly. Yeah, I
left in twenty thirteen. Yeah,he said, yeah, that's why real,
that's unreal. So how many playersthey got, coach, I think
(01:34:03):
about twenty one, twenty two?Okay, you think you you can wear
them down. We're gonna find away to win. That's that's the goal.
Like I said, it's about usthis week. We're trying to fix
us. We can fix us androll the dice. We'll do that.
The kids still positive, coach, they still yes, sir, Yes,
sir. I mean, like Isaid, we've we've been injured nothing.
(01:34:25):
You know, we take our lossesand you know, make no excuses.
We're getting our team back and that'sand that's what we want. You know,
you get some guys and back beinginjured for a while. Uh hope
it looks a little different. Youknow, Well, we need a big
crowd on the Fat Friday night tobecause it's be the last dance for about
uh hack coach uh all the wayto October thirteenth. Yeah, and it's
(01:34:45):
home coming, Oh, home comingon the Caps. We're good. Then
I'll be a festive atmosphere and I'mlooking for win number one. All right,
Yes, sir, it's always goodto see you two guys. I
appreciate what y'all do. Yes,sir, that's the Fat Bulldogs. We
gonna go from them to the NotrecuccerBlue Devils when we come back to Modes.
High Steel coach show continues, Thankyou all right, take care of
coach, Thank yo, and welcomeback to Modes. Our kids coaches show
(01:35:15):
continues. Our last school, thenthe Sucker Blue Devils, not last for
any reason, but when you gothere, right coach, Yes, sir
Williams, Well, it's good seato night. Coach you two, it's
sir. Good win last week.Congrats big fifty points. Yes, sir,
give me some names. He playedwell. We had our quarterback Uh
Leaves, our team Elijah Rogers. He had over two hundred all purpose yards,
(01:35:39):
had UH two passing touchdowns on Russiantouchdown. Our running back for spouncing
uh super sophomore. He had UHover a hundred UH yards Russian two touchdowns
to two punk a versions. GoodGracians. Coach y'all show Yeah, yeah,
our defense showed out. Uh Kayla. Cunningham was all over the field.
(01:36:00):
We have a eighth grader on ourour offensive tackle. He uh played
well at our offensive line with fourpancakes. So yeah, it was it
was uh good, good good uhweek. Uh last week sounds like you
guys got a little bit better andalso mature. Probably, Yes, sir,
yes sir, it's amazing what aw did on Yes sir, yes
sir. All right Maple still Yeah, everybody knows about the Red Devils,
(01:36:24):
yes, sir. Uh they gotrich tradition. Oh yeah, they were
one and two. But I'm like, I love what you said. It
don't matter. They don't. No, sir, y'all won one game with
him in fifteen games, he needsto be two Friday. Yeah, tell
me about well, like you said, uh maybe Wheels. They they're they're
uh rich in tradition. They havethat uh maybe the mentality. They're gonna
(01:36:46):
come at you hard, They're gonnarun the ball. So we just gotta
play tough on Friday. You know, if we can uh trying to uh
control their running game and uh wecan stay away from the mistakes and uh
the stuff inflict, the penalties andthe turnovers. I think we got a
good chance. Do you do youwhen you look at this team, do
(01:37:06):
they have more players, more size, more speed, anything? I think
this year I think we met uppretty well. Yeah, I was thinking
about I think size wise, Ithink they may be a little bigger,
but it's not by much. Thisis probably one of the first years that
I think if you just look atus on film, size wise, we
(01:37:28):
probably match up pretty well. Youknow what I'm talking about? When because
they have been stay have coming.I mean, they have been known to
be the team size sir. Youknow what about their numbers? As far
as play, I think as faras players, they still have more than
do we do. Yeah, Ithink looking like they have like thirty thirty
five guys over them. But likeyou said, that's normal, Yeah it
is. And now do they playa lot both ways? Coaches like you
(01:37:51):
guys, Yeah, yeah they dofor the most part. All that kind
of stacks up. That's kind ofwhat I was looking at. It sounds
like y'all as you supposed to researchthem. Now. I was asking coach
Rico, any other coaches, thecoach Newton, the other guys says guys
has been going both ways. Obviously, this is gonna be another week.
If they're getting better as far asin shape, coach, you seem to
(01:38:12):
be handling it better, yes, sir, yes, sir, uh huh
oh yeah, it's the season goeson. You kind of see the guys
in the the extra running we do. You see it kind of uh help
out a little bit. So,uh, I think I think we're ready
and you know what, temperature hasbeen good. I know it's still Yeah,
it's definitely we're still doing we're stilldoing the heat time house. Yeah,
well that's what I was, isit this is yeah, I think
(01:38:34):
so, and I think I thinkI think this is the last Yeah to
the question, Yeah, if thatis good, that's important too. Oh
yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, that's definitely. Uh that was those
extra breaks there are much needed whenwe were in battle. Yeah, so
all right, they'll be going onthe Maples. It was a tough trip
from here. Oh yeah, I'mlike going down eighty two time, y'all
go Yeah, y'all, y'all,yo, we go down eighty two.
