Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hollywood, Hamilton, The Keyt Morning Crew Astra producer Anthony and yes,
we had to get ready for mister Jeremy Pivet. You
need the microphone though, you should know this by now.
Got talking to a mic in order for people to
hear you.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Yeah. How are you feeling?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Oh man, this I couldn't feel better. No, this is incredible.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
You know what You're not allowing me right now. I
need a little bit more from you.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah. Well, I'm going to do the best I can
and that's all I can do, So thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Okay. So should I refer to you as Jeremy or
Ari since everybody always looked at you as Ari Gold?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Jeremy is great? Yeah, yeah, Jeremy's great.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
I mean, I know obviously with entourage, that was a
whole big thing. Are people still like stopping in the
street calling you Ari or do they actually recognize the
whole Jeremy.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
You know, we have a mutual friend Richie, and he's
a really great guy and love him. He called me
Ari eleven times yesterday, and so I mean what's interesting
is you know we were just talking that I walked
in here this morning and I no disrespect to you guys.
I was trying to get a hold of Charlemagne, right.

(01:14):
I got my show at the Sony Hall on the nineteenth.
I hate to talk about the real reason I'm here.
I apologize now, It's perfect. Oh no, no, I we
want to we don't want to go there about. We're
going to be laughing our asses off at Sony All
on Sunday and it's going to be incredible.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Moment while you're so low key right now because you
want to save the laughter for Sunday. Is that what
it is?

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Well, I'm you know, I'm just, I'm I'm present. I'm
not going to dance for you. I'm going to be
my authentic self, okay, And you know you could take
that any way you want, But I'm I'm you know,
I've I've come, I've come to the to your office here,
I've made the trip here in the morning to see you.
Whatever you want from me and whatever your preconceived notions

(01:56):
aren't my concern. So I'm going to do the best
I can.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
You want to say, I'm going to throw this one
under the bus because he's a big, big fan of yours.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
I've been school girling the whole time, literally the whole
time I've been an Entourage fan, I've been I love
the one of which we call it PCU is one
of my favorite movies of all time, The Goods probably
one of the best movie characters I think I've ever seen.
Good Uh, just real quick, I know you know, we
want to get to your stand up and everything. I

(02:26):
just want to ask you a couple questions about anage
if you don't mind, Sure he doesn't the h the
paintball scene.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Well, let me give you an example of the way
life is. So I did this really fun campaign for
Cuts that came out recently. It's like this all this
like Joggers and just like casual workout whar for guys
and it's a really great company. And and they said, Okay,
we're going to recreate the paintball scene and you're gonna

(02:53):
come in, You're gonna fire everyone. And I, you know,
I'm just being very patient because I know that I'm
not going to do that, but I'm listening to them,
and I said, oh, okay, cool, you want me to
recreate that? I said, all right, what are you guys
looking for? And they said, we're looking to go viral.
I said, okay, I'm looking to be tall. I'm looking
to be an astronaut, you know what I mean? We

(03:15):
all want something right beside that, and we all want that.
We all want to succeed a Home Runs? What do
you want? Everyone's attention? Okay, brother, I get it now.
The paintball gun scene is an iconic scene that has
been a meme. It's been used every time, like you know,
someone does a takeover Elon Musk takes over X, they

(03:39):
show the paintball gun. They super imposed his face onto mine.
So it's been done to death. I can't do it better.
I've already done it. It's now been karaoke. It's been
beaten to death. So I said, why don't I show
up and we'll do a handful of commercials and I'll
improvise you guys shall action. We'll rush it and we'll

(03:59):
get all new content. And they were like, how does
that work? Like you're about to Yeah, I just watched.
So what people don't realize is that, like, first of all,
every word was written in entourage, and I played it
as if it was improvised. So that's what actors do.
When I went to NYU and the National Theater of
Great Britain, and I've studied my entire life and no

(04:21):
one really knows or cares, And no one's ever asked
me where I went to school. They just assumed that
I am Ari Gold and I was born in the
mail room, and they don't know that I'm a classically
trained actor. And that's fine, and it's well, it's just
it's just all of our journeys are different. And and
that's the way.

Speaker 4 (04:36):
My mom was a big influence on you too, us.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, and so yeah, I grew up on the stage,
and since I was eight years old, my mom put
me on stage. So I'm also an improviser and was
at Second City with Chris Farley and the nineties and
blah blah blah. So I can show up to set
and you guys just tell me what you need to
get done. Yeah, you're going to interact with this guy,
that guy. We need a button here, a tag here,
you end up here at boom. I just call action.

(04:59):
So I I can improvise the entire commercial and there's
nothing unique about it. I've just been doing this my
whole life. So I gave them five unique improvised commercials
and it went by roll and they lost their minds
and it's my honor and my pleasure. But like the
idea and I get it. I'm not mad at them.
It's just people just they see something they like and

(05:20):
they want to see it again. It's like, well, we
can actually do something different and original. And so you
know for me that all roads watch this transition, all
roads lead to stand up because now it's going to
be me. It's amazing. I can talk into a mic
and I will do it, you know, at Sony Hall

(05:41):
on Sunday, and it's just an hour of me doing
stand up and impressions. I mean, as I was driving
over here today, forty five minutes, don't worry about it,
You're welcome five. Oh yeah, it's amazing. I came from Poughkeepsie, yeah,
saying in my grandmother's basement. Oh yeah it.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
And that was common.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Look I him, this is amazing. So the thing about
stand up is it's total freedom and it's me on
the mic having a blast, just talking about all the
things that have happened to me in my life and
things that are current that are in the moment of
like you know, Trump just achieved piece in the Middle East. Yeah,

(06:26):
I mean, it's it's it's unbelievable. I'm Jewish. It's like
this is, this is, this is. These times are absolutely insane.
And you know there's no there's no real coverage on it.
But we had free Palestine and people going crazy every
single day. It's like, well they did it, but it's
like radio silence, and it's like he's like your crazy X.

(06:49):
You know that did some good. You just want to
ignore him, this motherfucker, you know what I mean. Everyone
hates him, but it's like, wait, we got the hostages back.
Are not in a ton of It's kind of an amazing,
amazing moment.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
So do you implement all of this type of stuff
into the stand up? You talk about all pop culture
things that are current. I mean to make everything, make
every show pretty much different.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Every every show is different in New York will be different.
You know. I walk the streets of New York and
people are like, Ari, hey, you're a douche I'm a
douchee because of you. Bro, let's take a pick you
do and they don't do that everywhere. And so I'm
going to bring all that on stage and it'll be
a New York show where they give it to you.

(07:32):
Straight and I'm loved here and that's real. And I
see what happens. New Yorker is in that crowd. You know,
if I if it's my honor to crush it and
make them laugh. If I bomb, they'll let me know,
you know what I mean? And I love that. I
love honesty. I want to know. I want to know

(07:53):
what it is. I want to know who you are,
not who you're not, you know what I mean? Like,
you're gonna get the authentic version of me today. And yeah,
I walked in and I'm a little grumpy and it's
better than Hi. You guys, so you do it? Oh
my god, do you walk out and like this? That's
a fucking cunts. I'm not that guy I like to

(08:14):
talk about. I'm like the white Kyrie Irving.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Okay, So let me get your take on this because
this has been like a big controversial topic. Bad Bunny
doing the Super Bowl. What's your thoughts on that?

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Well, I mean, Bad Bunny is an amazing artist and
has been doing all these incredible things. I think he
just raised hundreds of millions of dollars for Puerto.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Rican which is which is in the United States.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah, it's incredible what he's done.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
He's sold out every single one of her shows.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
I mean, he's just amazing. He's just got incredible energy.
He's insanely talented. He's widely popular. I don't understand what
the problem is. I don't even know why. I mean,
it's all gonna be good. Everything's gonna be okay.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
There because he's performing in Spanish, which when we talked
about this on the air not too long.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Ago, I mean probably the top one two biggest artists
in the world.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
So people are trying to act as if like they
don't know what he is. My thing, my take on
it is because Apple Music is putting it on. Apple
Music just came out with those air pods that translate,
so I feel like this is a great way to
sell the pods, so you could put them in you
can understand everything he's saying that day. There you go,
it's marketing genius.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Everybody wins.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
I just gave you another joke for your show.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
This I love it. People think that I'm Puerto Rican.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Really yeah, from the waist down.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
See, I guess that's so amazing. You honestly love your
own material. So that was like, that was an honest
that was like a belly laugh at your own viciously
mediocre joke. I mean, really good joke, really good joke.
That was an amazing joke from the waist down you.
I mean, you can just insert that anywhere. No, No,

(09:58):
I guess it's funny. Look at that she's on She's
on our game man. No, yeah, I mean I think
you could do it tight tooo right two minutes of
I don't know. If no, you you'll be fine. The
great thing about New York is, you know, I I

(10:20):
get to I'll be getting up doing sets tonight. You know,
just the reason, one of the many reasons why New
York has the best comics in the world is you know,
you can jump up and do five sets a night
here all over and everyone's supporting it. Like I grew
up in Chicago and you're performing as an actor and

(10:41):
people show up, so we have audiences. So I was
always on the stage, and here with stand up, it's
just so supported you can get up.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Texas is dotting there too, like that.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Austin, Texas. Obviously, Rogan opened up the Mothership and they
got Creak in the Cave and sunset strip and everything else.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
There and it killed only on Mondays and stuff like
that too.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Tony's crushing the game absolutely.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
So which do you prefer at this point in your life?
Do you prefer doing stand up over the acting or
would you rather do acting over the stand up?

Speaker 2 (11:10):
You know, to me, it's just it's all this, it's
just creativity. It's just it's just so fun you're creating,
and and it's it's all it's all you know that
it would I'm trying to think of that's a great question.
I'm trying to think of like an analogy of like
you know, some some spiritual analogy about picking your favorite

(11:32):
child or poem or something. It's like, it's all just
so beautiful. It's I'm very lucky, you know, to take
the written word and make it feel improvisational and totally
present in the moment. It's that's, you know, an incredible
beautiful challenge. And then stand up is its own beautiful
challenge where you're alone on the mic and and but

(11:54):
even if you go off track for a minute and
it doesn't quite hit, you can turn a and then
make it work. So you've got to be available to
beautiful mistakes or i mean, look at stand up is
more of its immediate gratification. You know, it's you got
the live audience there and you hit with that wave

(12:16):
of laughter. And on a set, you know, people are
you know, covering their mouths or whatever. So it's different.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
How long gonna take you to get to the hour?

Speaker 2 (12:27):
I just filmed my special in Chicago at the VIC
Theater and so you know, five six years of wow,
grinding the material and uh yeah, until it's ready.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
When's the TV special coming out?

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I know it's a good question. I'm gonna head to
Nashville and finish the edit after this and then uh,
and then people will know I do stand up and
then no, No, It'll be great because then I'll sit
down with you guys and you'll go, oh man. When
you said you know you're getting older and you looked
at a woman. Used to look at a woman in

(13:02):
a short skirt and be like, damn, she's hot, and
now you're like, I wonder if she's cold? Like that
was funny as opposed to So what can we expect
from you and Sony? How on Sunday? Your jokes? What
is funny? What is comedy? What can we expect from you?

(13:23):
You can what can you expect from my comedy show
about joke? She fucking.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Up? Let me ask you this, since you do, you know,
change up a bunch of stuff and you are live
on the stage, has there ever been a heckler that
maybe came out and threw you off guard or got
you laughing or anything that stands out.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
To you oh all the time? Are you kidding?

Speaker 1 (13:43):
I'm sorry? Did you get a text message?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
No? No, no, I just wanted to make sure we
weren't filming, like I was like, you know, sometimes I'm
such a cave man. I I could literally be live
streaming right now for you know, just an image of
my ass.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
That wouldn't be bad, right.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
No one wins. And I was on stage one time
and this woman's like, take your shirt off, and it
was like, what you know what I mean? It was
adorable and everyone's like, but if it was a dude,
like you know, talking to a woman, take your shirt off,
like they would score for us.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
So it's a very gender specific heckle. So there's it's
always something, you know, Lloyd, let's hull, get out, bitch,
you know whatever, and you know you just kind of
you have your moment with them. And yeah, it's about them,
and you just keep going.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Any rituals before you go on stage, Moore, you just
end up.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
By the way, there's no one better with hecklers than
Jerry Seinfeld is probably the best. Actually, Matt Rife is
really good. Matt Rife is underappreciated or no, he's not.
He's huge. What am I saying? Jerry appreciated. He's playing stadium.

(14:54):
He's blown up. Jerry Seinfeld there was a free Palestine
protes in the middle of his show. Yeah, and he goes, oh,
you're back, You're back. He goes, listen, we both want
the same thing. You're looking for an audience. I'm looking
for an audience. You hear that I'm doing well, you're

(15:16):
not doing well. And it's like I said to him,
how how did you do that? I mean, you don't understand.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
See, but you said you're good at improvising.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
So you're doing your act and you're focused and you're
about to hit your punchline and then you're being cock blocked,
you know what I mean. And suddenly you look up
and you know he's not a He doesn't do any
politics in his set. He's a Jewish guy, Jewish American dude,
and they're protesting his show. They're in the wrong place,

(15:49):
and so he's brilliant enough to take that beat and
speak to them calmly and empathetically and take their point
of view in the middle of being you know, interrupted.
And it's just kind of like it's some really high
level stuff that people just look at and go, oh, yeah,
he's a natural. It's like no that that takes. He's

(16:11):
been on stage for fifty years, you know, grinding it out.
So I don't know, I'm in awe off guys like that.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Do you ever deal with nerves, because I mean, still
a human at the end of the day, do you
still deal with that at all?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Absolutely? And you know, again the variable as reps. So
you get up there all the time, and you know
you've I've everyone I've dealt with nerves to greater and
lesser extents. Like sometimes you know, when you start, they're
debilitating because maybe you're playing a little dive bar and
there are three people that are waiting for the DJ

(16:44):
and they're not there to see you, and they're just
you know, googling bad Bunny or whatever they're doing, right,
and and you know, so you got those nerves and
you're not getting them, so you you have to walk
through that. And nerves are just an energy. It's just
your body's way of saying, Okay, wake up, this is real.
And you breathe and you let that go and you

(17:05):
don't allow yourself to be overwhelmed by nerves. And then
once you start navigating that a lot, then you have
this interesting relationship with nerves and yeah, it's it's all
part of it. You welcome them. Oh there's that old
feeling again, Okay, and then you just breathe and work
through it.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Now as a comic, because this is something I would think.
Obviously I'm not one, but what if you're oh, so,
say you're up there, you're not getting the response that
you thought you would be getting from some of the
things that you're saying. How do you pivot? What's the
like the quickest way, or or do you start joking
during jokes at yourself or what do you normally do?

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Yeah, you can be self deprecating, you can own the moment,
and there's so many different ways to get them. But
I've been on stage my whole life. I was touring
with a sketch comedy with Second City back in the
day and you see very quickly what the audience responds
to and what they don't respond to. So yeah, it's

(18:07):
it's it's an interesting dance on how to navigate them.
And yeah, if you're you admit to the moment. Let's
say you're not doing well and you're self deprecating and
you shit on yourself and you see how that plays,
or you have fun with it, you're you know, if
you stay in it and you keep working it, you're
going to get them. I like that.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Well, this Sunday, October nineteenth, Sony Hall, seven pm. Grab
your tickets. There's only a few left over at Sony
Hall dot com.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
They're gone. And if he mentions you, you guys, why
don't we give them some free meet and greets you.
I know you guys can't stay up late, so you
won't be there.

Speaker 4 (18:43):
But I meant, I'm trying to make that work.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Yeah, trying to make it work.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Okay, And then next time we talk, you will.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
You're worth losing some sleepover there, you go.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
I like hearing it.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
You actually really are there?

Speaker 2 (18:55):
You go, Yeah, Well, have fun. I mean, if you
guys don't like to laugh, don't come. Don't go anywhere
to laugh.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Maybe you'll make them laugh.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Well, yeah, absolutely, everyone's every everybody wins when you.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
Show up medicine, they say, you know you could be there.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Isn't the best medicine. I think medicine is the best medicine.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
Depends what medicine you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
If you're sick, medicine is definitely the best medicine.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Exactly. Yeah. I mean, you know, if if you've got
a broken leg and I'm just telling riddles, it's not
gonna thank you to Ari Gold.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Thank you Ari aka Jermy Piven. We really appreciate that
you have anything else, mister.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Alln No, we're good. It was a ted talk. It was.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
It was a little everything.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Yeah, all don't worry.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
His palms are sweaty right now. Just don't shake his
hand before you leave

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Okay, Spaghetty, Thanks guys, Thank thank you,
