All right.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
This week on Friday Friday, we talk about credit repair scams.
This is a big money maker for some of you
out there that are scamming other people.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Sophia is reaching out right now.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
Yes, at a Long Island, at a Hicksville, Long Island.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
This is an easy.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Emotional one, you know, credit repair. Who doesn't want a
nice high credit score? And there's a lot of people
out there who actually do help your credit through legit ways,
but plenty of bad actors on the scene and scamming
people that say they can fix your credit immediately.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah, like guarantee eight hundred score. I've seen that one before.
I also seen the other ones that say erase bad
credit in thirty days.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
People really freak out about their credit because it can
affect the percentage rates that they charge you. Right, lower score,
higher percentage rate you're charged.
Speaker 6 (01:07):
So so, yeah, I fell victim to a you know
what seemed fairly innocent of a flyer, and you know,
and I reached out to this guy with the hopes
that you know, he could help me. And yeah, the.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Guy that you found said it was a flyer that
you saw. What was the big headline there?
Speaker 6 (01:27):
Guarantee credit repair or your money back? Nothing to lose there, right?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Okay? All right?
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, so it was four hundred and ninety nine dollars
to fix your credit.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
And then what happened after that? You give him the money?
How did you?
Speaker 3 (01:40):
First of all, before we get this person on the phone,
you how did you pay?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
How did you? Yep?
Speaker 6 (01:44):
I had Tatum via Zelle, you know, his phone number
came up as a registered user. Everything kind of seemed
legit and checked out, gave him the money, called him
several times, you know, and then after a few conversations,
you know, I never heard from him again.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
Okay, Oh yeah, Now that he has your money.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Okay, and that was that? That was that? So now
he's not returning your phone calls at all or emails.
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Have you emailed him yet?
Speaker 6 (02:10):
I emailed him. I called him like some voice messages,
everything and nothing.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Before we get this guy on the phone, is there
anything that we can use in order really to come
down hard on this guy. Is there anything out of
the unusual that might have been brought up in conversation?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Where's he from? We know his first name is what Samantha? Again?
What's his name? John? His name is John? We know that.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Is there anything that might stand out during your conversations
with this guy that we could possibly use?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Is there?
Speaker 6 (02:43):
No? Not really?
Speaker 4 (02:45):
And you never you never met this guy, obviously.
Speaker 6 (02:48):
No, No, other than the fact that the fire was
in Picksville.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Where there dogs barking in the background. Did you hear
anything any sounds?
Speaker 8 (02:58):
No?
Speaker 9 (02:59):
Not really?
Speaker 7 (03:00):
Oh boy? Okay, well all right.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
Oh wait, he did mention something about off of Sunrise
Highway because I had asked him where the office was.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Okay, okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
You're listening to Fraud Friday with the KTU Morning Crew.
We'll be right back with part two when Hollywood and
Marine make the call. Buckle up because things are about
to get rough. Welcome back for part two for this
week's Fraud Friday.
Speaker 8 (03:40):
And this is John with Twitter Repair. How can I
help you?
Speaker 9 (03:43):
Hi?
Speaker 7 (03:43):
John?
Speaker 2 (03:43):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (03:45):
I am hoping you can help me?
Speaker 8 (03:49):
Sure? What's your name?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (03:51):
My name is Tabitha and I am in need of
some help with my credit.
Speaker 8 (03:57):
I went, what type of issues are we talking?
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Well, we have an ex husband issue. He really, I think,
put my credit through the wringer. So we've got some
credit card debt that I thought he would be paying off.
He clearly didn't because he's a loser, some late payments
from his purchases.
Speaker 7 (04:18):
Of course. I mean, he's just a terrible person.
Speaker 8 (04:22):
Okay, Tsha, I understand. Listen, you don't sound like the
type of person who deserved any of that. And because
of the fact that he used your name, Oh, we
can certainly help to get a lot of this disputed.
Speaker 7 (04:34):
Because it was a territackage. It was horrible, horrible divorce,
really bad. But what I'm sorry in.
Speaker 8 (04:46):
Here, but we can use all of this to our benefit. Okay,
I get it. You don't deserve any of that, and
we can use all of that as leverage to get
these charges disputed.
Speaker 7 (04:56):
All right, Okay, So what do I have to do?
Please tell me?
Speaker 8 (05:00):
Very easy process for our basic package. It's only for
ninety nine. I need to know what's your current credit score? Four? Oh,
that is bad. To get you started on our basic
dispute four hundred and ninety nine dollars, which is a
real bargain. Okay, it's a multi tiered process. We're going
(05:20):
to attack all three bureaus, but not only that. Then
we'll also go and look at the secondary bureaus. All right,
that's going to be your lexus nexus, your in of this.
We're going to attack this in several different layers. So
as you give me your information, I'm going to be
able to dispute any inaccuracies. All right. They've got your
name spelt wrong, if they've got your birthday wrong, if
(05:41):
they've got your social wrong, all of that's going to
give me fuel to dispute everything and get all of
this stuff off of your credit. And because it was
your husband doing a lot of this, we'll also be
able to say he was basically still in your identity,
all right, So that's really going to allow us to
dispute a lot of this, all right, because you weren't
responsible for You.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
Are so good at this, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 8 (06:05):
If we have to take it to a tabitha, tabitha,
if we have.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
The three tier it's a three tier process.
Speaker 7 (06:10):
Yeah, I'm waiting to hear that you get in the
three tier process for for a low tier?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Yeah, what is it.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
Going to cost me for a middle tier?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Let me have him? Can I ask him?
Speaker 7 (06:20):
Absolutely, I'd love to know, John.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Can I ask you? What? Uh? What's for the top tier?
What's the top tier?
Speaker 8 (06:29):
Excuse me, there's someone else on the call.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Well, well, you mentioned that there's a three tier plan
here for four ninety nine.
Speaker 7 (06:37):
We're a little confused.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Before you rip us off, we were just wondering as
we get in the full three tiers.
Speaker 8 (06:43):
Wait, first of all, sir, I don't appreciate your tone.
