t shirts Something entertaining, something enlightening, something perhaps we can
learn from. Donald. Tell me something good.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, I have something good to tell you. I want
to tell you about the work of the Eagle Academy Foundation,
organization I've been with for almost eighteen years.

Yeah, Donald, I want to tell you about something all right, Donald,
I'm sorry, buddy. We had to just you got a
great voice. Sorry, Donald, tell me something good. So now
you have something called the Eagle Academy. What's up with that?
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yes, the Eagle Academy Foundation. It's an organization committed to
helping young men of color achieve their desired educational career
and life outcomes. We have a network of schools across
New York City and in Newark, New Jersey. Where are
there schools located? We actually have one in each of
the five boroughs of New York City and one in Newark,
New Jersey. Their neighborhood schools, right, And so it's tuition
(01:50):
over oute. Like you know, students usually apply like in
online for our schools. It's not necessarily a lottery. We
only screen based on gender. They're schools dedicated to young
men and they're part of the New York City Public
school system.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Wow, that's awesome. That's now. Can you give us some
success stories and just generalized success.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
Absolutely. As a matter of fact, just this past year,
our schools achieved a ninety seven percent high school graduation rate,
ninety eight percent college acceptance rate, and over seventy percent
of our young men in rolling college compared to only
thirty four percent nationally for all men.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Donald, may I tell you something. You sound far too
intelligent to be listening to this chef. First of all,
let's just just get that out right.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Then, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
So this is college prep then, right? Is that the
idea for kids?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yes, it's college and career prep. You know, our principals,
educators on the ground are doing a phenomenal job and
we're really about to during the long term success of
our students. Are building that ecosystem. That's a big part
of the role that the Foundation plays. It's not just
about that six through twelfth grade learning, but how do
we set them up for life. We have really competitive
(03:00):
sports teams. As a matter of fact, our Brooklyn team
has won back to back PSAL championships a couple of
years ago, and our Bronx team actually went to the
championship this past year. We started to deliver a Division
one athletes. Just from a sports standpoint, We've always been
known for our graduation rates, but our young men are
doing signey well both in the classroom and across a
(03:22):
range of career paths.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Jeez, amazing. Okay, it's got to be asked again. So
a mom, a dad of parents listening right now saying, Oh,
I got to get my kid involved with this. What's
the steps? How do they get their kid involved with
you and your organization?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah? So one, you could always check out our website
at www dot eafn Y dot org. You could always
go to New York City public schools. The respective schools
websites more than likely will direct you to the enrollment
office and they will help you from there www dot
ea f andy dot org.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Well, I give a T shirt to every one of
your students, but we would go broke doing that, but
give him five of his favorite students. I guess K
two Morning Crew T shirts. We're gonna have to put
Donald on the spot right there. You got not one,
but you got five k T Morning Crew T shirts.
Let's have a great It's the Eagle Academy Foundation.
