He just keeps bringing up his ex girlfriend, oh all
the time. That's not good in front of everyone, like
even my friends and family.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Oh no, maybe I just jumped the gun and I
shouldn't have said yes.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
No. So that leads you to believe Hans. You being
on Warriner Roses, you think he's Look, how could the
guy be that dumb where he mentions her name all
the time in front of her family and friends.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
And at the same time still seeing.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Her come on.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
It's very suspicious.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
But my question is I don't know anybody that's stupid.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Talia. Did he do this when you were dating or
is this something new? That he has just started after
you got married.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
I mean he's always mentioned her, but I thought if
we moved to the next step, he would finally be
able to really, you know, leave her in the past.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
All Right, we're gonna get him on the phone.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
And what's your husband's name?

Speaker 3 (01:33):

company logo, your name engraved, and the recipient's name engraved
in the vase. So you're gonna send these roses out
to someone that you would like to you know, maybe
your wife, your girlfriend, someone like I don't know if

(03:15):
you're married, but I don't have that information. Possibly a
family member, you know, somebody who's special to you.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Hello, Oh okay, I mean you know, I've been working
here for three years. Really happy to see that acknowledge
that I'm.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Telling you they only bring up your name. Your name
is who they mentioned all the time. That's all I'm hearing.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
That's pretty I have thought that. Yeah, yeah, especially with
that issue that we had a while back with the
company policies.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Oh right, yeah we did. It was a little hiccup.
It was a little hiccup, but we pushed past that
and look look where you are right now, Employee of
the month. This is just fantastic. So yeah, so who
would you like to send these roses to.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Would be okay if I got back to you. I
just I think I've got so many people in my life,
you know, then I might would appreciate them like this.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Oh you're married?

Speaker 2 (04:29):

of the story, you are gonna laugh. You're just like, really,
you're gonna get a kick out of this. Go ahead, Gary,
go ahead, Sean.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Oh, It's it's kind of not funny because there's somebody
on align with us right now who's been listening to
the entire conversation that might not be laughing along with us.
In fact, I think we should stop laughing because it
might be downright sad.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, yeah, your wife.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I don't I don't know. Do you love me? I'm
asking do.

I mean, last person you even thought of?

Speaker 2 (05:32):
I know so many people, you know, how you came
across there.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Right, I mean, I am extremely obsesssed.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
We understand this is not good Gary.

you not to mention your extirlfriend's name ever?

Speaker 1 (05:53):

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Yeah, why do you keep bringing up the X?

Speaker 1 (05:57):

Speaker 5 (06:21):
We're not talking about an ant.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
We're talking about Karen.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
We're talking about Karen.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
What's what's going on with that? Why keep bringing her
name up?

Speaker 5 (06:29):
You clearly have some unresolved emotions and feelings for your ex.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Shut up. You're not going to sit there and tell
me how I speak? Right?

Speaker 5 (06:40):
He just told me to shut up, Talia. You can
get an annulment you've been you've been married under a year.
It cancels it all out as if you've never been married.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
I mean, are we out of aligned people? One eight
hundred and two four five one oh three five? Are
we out of line? What would you suggest for Talia
to do?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I feel really rejected right now?

Speaker 6 (07:03):
We lived together.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
What do I do?

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Okay, I'll all have people in your life that you
love anymore, and I know it for I mean, you love.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
You're you're you're associating the word love with Karen, that
you love that. You made it sound like you're also
in love with Karen. Something's not right here.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Okay, I'm sorry, don't say her name please?

Speaker 6 (07:22):
All right, we got that five month update for you.
Talia ended up calling us back with some really big news.
She actually went through with the annulment.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Now.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
She said that at the moment that Gary told her
you never stopped loving someone that you once loved, something
actually clicked. She realized she didn't want to compete with
the ghost of her relationship, so she moved out. She
filed for an annulment, and she's been in therapy rebuilding
her confidence. As for Gary, of course, he tried to
win her back for about a month, claiming he didn't
mean it like that, but he's now reportedly back in

(07:51):
contact with Karen, the ex, the one he never stopped loving.
And there you have it. The five month update on

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
