Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm Sandy Collins. This is iHeart Cincy.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I've got a big flashlight, shining the spotlight on issues
that affect Tri Staters, offering solutions when we can, and
promoting the causes that mean so much to our community today.
My guests are Dan Bosh Junior and wife Denise Bosch.
They're working to create this yearly charity event that pairs
their two favorite things, fine parties and fine cars. Welcome
(00:25):
to you too, We appreciate you being here on iHeart Cincy.
You are here with Concord de Voo, that classic car
show that comes around to Cincinnati and this area. This
is your very first event at Davoo Park. Is that right, Dan?
Speaker 3 (00:42):
That is correct. We call a Concord Voo the Concord
with a View because we are taking advantage of the
view of Cincinnati from the Kentucky side of the river.
And it's a great venue, great venue for a show
like this.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
This is actually a competition, kind of a friendly competition.
That's word concor means in French. I took seven years
of it and I still had to look it up.
But anyway, but it is a competition. Tell me a
little bit about how you became involved with concor and
(01:17):
why you decided to bring it to Davoo Park in
northern Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Well, I've been into cars for a very long time.
We own a restoration shop and he bring Kentucky, so
I'm very involved in the car community. To start with.
We travel to shows around the country. I judge a
lot of the shows and for that reason, our chief judge,
who is from North Carolina, doctor Mark Moskowitz, was here
(01:43):
a couple of years ago. I showed him the overlook
in Davoo Park venue and he said, this is by
far one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
To have a show like this, you have to do
this show. So I think at that moment we signed
up for it.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Whether you wanted to or not, right, I can tell
by the look on your face it'll be worth it
for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
For people that have never actually created an event or
put on an event other than a wedding or a
graduation party, you have all those moving pieces and you've
got your life to live on top of it. It
is very very challenging. Your wife, Denise is your support person,
she said, just support person.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
But I'm not going to give her that word.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
You're the support for Dan Denise. What do you think
about this beautiful car show and it coming for the
first time to Devou Park.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
It's a lot of work, but it's going to be amazing.
I mean, the feedback we've gotten, the the things that
we've learned, the things that we've put together, I think
are just going to make it a spectacular event for
the weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
If you're listening right now and you want to see
the website and peruse some of the information, you can
do that at kung coredvoo dot com, at co n
co u r S Davoo d e v ou dot com.
This competition is coming up next weekend, and so you've
(03:13):
got tickets that are early bird sales, but that ends tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Is that right, that's correct, yes, yeah, So.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Tickets are twenties. Here's an odd odd price. I guess
you have to add the convenience fere or whatever. So
it's twenty seven ninety two for a general mission ticket
in advance, and then it goes up a little bit
the day of the show. So tell me about the
gala that you've got. It's going to kick this off.
It looks like, oh my gosh, what is the theme there?
(03:41):
Do yeah, Sinatra in the skyline, tell me about it?
Speaker 1 (03:44):
What do you? What do you got planned?
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Well, we're bringing everything that we like from the shows
that we go to and trying to put them into
one event. So one of the things that impresses us
when we go to shows are food, So our gala
is going to have amazing food, three food stations, premium drinks, wine, beer,
soft drinks, tea, coffee, et cetera. We're going to have
(04:08):
a couple of guest speakers, We're going to have a
live auction, and tickets are still available for the gala
there one hundred and fifty dollars. But again, everything we're
doing is for our charity, the Northern Kentucky Children's Advocacy Center,
so we want to again keep it local. It's going
to be an amazing evening because the folks that are
(04:29):
coming to this gala event are going to watch the
sunset on the city and then see it at night
and watch the transformation. So that's that alone.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
With some of the cars.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Some of the cars will already be on the showfield,
so you'll see the skyline, the sunset beyond the cars.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
It's just going to be beautiful. And so this is
going to be at Davoo Park at the pavilion, is
that right correct.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
We've our special event permit. We have access to that
area from eleven am on Saturday till four pm on
some So some of our exhibitors are going to bring
their cars on Saturday and the rest on Sunday morning.
But Saturday they'll bring the cars in, we'll put them
in place. We're going to have our gala inside the
Drews Pavilion, which can hold three hundred people for a
(05:13):
sit down dinner. It's going to be an elegant event.
We can't stress enough how excited we are about our gala.
I'm almost more excited about that than the day of
show because we get to shows all the time, but
we love to throw parties.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, so this is going to be a good party,
no doubt, no doubt. So Dan, tell me about the
cars themselves.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
These are fully restored antique cars and the sports cars.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
That's correct.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
So our goal we see a trend or I do anyway,
with Concord events leaning towards the younger crowd, and I
love pre war cars. I love brass era cars, and
we are going to have some of them, but we
also have a really nice showing of modern supercars, sports cars, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche,
(06:08):
just some of the cars that the younger crowd wants
to see. So we have something for everyone. We're going
to have I believe that we're at one hundred and
eight judged cars. We have club cars which are the
Portrait Club, BMW Club, Jaguar Club, Boston Healy Club, et cetera.
They will probably make up another maybe one hundred cars,
(06:31):
so they'll be over two hundred cars on the grounds
the day of show. We have vendors, we have food trucks.
We also offer a VIP package for the day of
show which gets you back into the Drews Pavilion for
free food, free drinks, and air conditioning.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
And that's the day after the gala.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yes, that's correct, and we have our national anthem is
going to be played by Tommy Kessler, who is Blondie's guitarist,
and we have a over at that time with the
Warburg Museum. And what I'm most excited about, we have
the Wiermobile.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
You're not going to make everybody sing the Oscar Marr song,
are you.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Right?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
In their in their in their black tie and their gowns,
et cetera.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Right, So our car is the day of show. We
have a lot of really just the most elegant cars, yes,
as they left the factory. We are also going to
be unveiling at this show a car that has never
been shown, which is a nineteen twenty eight packered Model
(07:40):
four four three Phaeton. So the history of this car
is a gentleman and his brothers and cousins that own it.
Their grandfather bought it brand new in nineteen twenty eight.
It has nine thousand original miles. It is one hundred
percent its original condition. It has never been shown. This
is a car that people gravitate to it events like
this see something one hundred years old as it left
(08:03):
the factory.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
On your website, you have a place for people to
register for the competition. So that gave me the idea
and the question, So are all these cars coming from
our area or are they coming from our area and
elsewhere or just from other owners across that country.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
They're coming from all over the country, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Arizona, Alabama.
So they're not just from this area. We do have
a lot of cars from this area, which is typical
for an event like this, and Cincinnati is just this
entire area is full of collector cars. People in this
(08:46):
area have no idea of the influence, but it's there,
and there are plenty of cars in this area For
shows like this, just seems.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Like a very expensive trip to bring your car across
the country to one of these competitions. Is it worth
it for these Obviously it's worth it for the owner
or whoever has the car, But what's in it for them?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Bragging rights? Some of these exhibitors, their cars are worth
millions and millions of dollars and their goal is to
make their car absolutely perfect and display it and be
able to tell their friends and other concour events that hey,
I got best in class or I got best in
(09:30):
show at this event. And the reason our event's going
to be successful is we're bringing what we call the
celebrity judges. Judges from around the country are coming in
to judge these cars. They're not just teenagers with a clipboard.
These are seasoned professionals that do this on a weekly basis,
and they travel to many shows like I do, and
(09:52):
you know they know what they're looking at. So if
an exhibitor knows that these judges are on site, they're
going to want to bring their car, and that's we draw.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Two hundred seems like a lot of vehicles. Is this
bigger or.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Smaller than the area other ones that I've seen pop
up over the years.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
It's going to be a little bit smaller. I'm part
of the other Concore events in the area, Cincinnati and
Dayton and Keenland, and they're great events. We're just trying
to limit hours to one hundred judged cars. The club
cars are kind of fillers. Those shows typically can have
(10:29):
one hundred and fifty to two hundred or more cars,
But we're trying to keep this as kind of a
small fall classic type deal, kind of an end of
the year Concore event.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
What do we do if it rains, Denise, It's not.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
We do have plans if it rains. There is a
lot of surface areas and we will move the cars
just won't be on the grass, They'll be on the
surface areas around the area. And I mean, it rains
at these events all the time, and people manage it.
People still come, exhibitors still come.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Yeah, rain or shine, but it's coming up Saturday's the gala.
Next Sunday is the event, and you have some special
pricing for admission tickets for general admission and then also
for military, police and fire.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Let's talk about that, Denise.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah, so we have special pricing for military, police and fire.
The tickets are twenty five dollars all the way up
until the show.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
We want to.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Honor and celebrate them for all the hard work they
do for us and keeping us safe.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
And then general admission tickets are also the same price
until tomorrow and then that'll go up about what ten
dollars your general admissions.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yeah, we left.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
The patrons to pay the fees because we wanted to
keep as much as we could for our charity.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
That's a smart thing to do, Denise. See Dan, you
needed her to come up with that, didn't you?
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Does r on the show, I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
We have a cherry cask bourbon drink that we have
concocted that we are going to have for the people
that are at the gala and the people VIP for
the day of show, and we call it the Fedora,
which goes with our Sinatra and the Skyline theme. So
there you have it. We're gonna unveil ad drink and
(12:24):
we hope everybody enjoys it.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Well.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Listen, this sounds like a great event. It's the very
first time that it's coming to de vou Park, Concord
de Voo with our good friends now Dan and his
wife Denise Bosh, the chairman of Concord de Voo, and
you can find out.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
More about that at their website.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Anything else you want to include you two before we
take off here.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
We need the support. This is our first year. We
don't know what to expect. We don't know how many
people are going to attend, but it seems like we've
gotten the word out there and people know about it.
So the car community will be better off having the show,
I believe.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
And so will the children's center. Thank you guys so
much for what you're doing. Good luck and let me
know how it goes, will you.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, I appreciate it. Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Sandy.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Thanks.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
This show and all the other episodes are on the
free iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
It's available under podcasts.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Just search for my name Sandy Collins and you'll be
linked to the archive. It's full of interesting people, opportunities
and solutions for issues right here in Cincinnati and in
northern Kentucky. And before we go, I'm getting a new
series here on iHeart Sinsey, zeroing in on one of
the most important decisions that we have to make, choosing
a vocation, a job, a career, or changing them later
(13:42):
in life. I'm going to explore what your neighbors do
for a living, what led them to do the job
that they do, answering the questions including fulfillment and pay
and upward mobility.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
So I'm looking for guests.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
If you or someone you know has a really interesting vocation,
drop me a line to tell me about them, the job,
what makes it good, and the downside education, pay whatever
you want. Email is Iheartsinsey at iHeartMedia dot com.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Since he spelled with an I.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Just type vocations in the subject line. You can also
share questions and comments about this show. We'll be back
next week on this iHeartRadio station.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Thanks for tuning in.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Iheartsinsy is a production of iHeartMedia, Cincinnati,
