Maddy and Tom first matched on Hinge a few weeks ago and actually ended up matching on Bumble at the same time. They both hit it off really quick and Maddy really liked that Tom also had a fascination with animals like Maddy did. They also both work in marketing so their conversations were never really stagnant. They eventually went on their first date to get dinner together and planned to hang out with their friends for drinks after. However, after dinner Maddy noticed that Tom left immediately after and he hasn’t responded to any of her messages for the past two weeks.

We call Tom to find out why he hasn’t responded to Maddie since leaving their date and he tells us that he felt weird about one of Maddy’s friends showing up unexpectedly. Find out what’s really going on in this Second Date Update!

Your morning show podcast. Second dateupdate on your morning show. You go
out with somebody, could be onedate, could be a couple of dates,
and you think to yourself, maybethis person is something different. You'd
getting tired of the dating apps, getting tired of just trying to find somebody.
But there's nothing worse than when youfeel like you have that vibe,
like you feel like this is somethingdifferent, and then they just poof gone

(00:23):
as quick as the day I came. We try to figure out what's going
on. Let me bring her backon Maddie, Good morning, Good morning.
So this is interesting with you andTom. First of all, you
guys met on the apps? Isthat correct? Yes? Yeah, we
matched? Yea may catch up?Sorry we matched on hinge and okay,

(00:46):
and that's someone to ask. Ido think that there can be a lot
of crossover, certainly, But howlong was the difference in time between the
Hinge match and the Bumble match orwas it pretty much around the same time
frame? It was the same timeframe? Okay? Sure? Did you
guys have conversations on both like whackingus that way or just kind of like

(01:07):
we're gonna keep it too hinge orand keep it the bumble. Um,
it was mostly hinge. Yeah, and then we just like, um,
there wasn't a lot of back andforth where it was just like immediately set
up a date. Okay, Andso what about Tom set out to you?
Why was he somebod your interested in? Um, he seems like he's

(01:30):
handsome and he had like a lotof pictures with animals that I like,
was like, so he seemed likean animal lover. And yeah, you
guys work in the same field.Yes, we do. We both do
marketing, which is gonna be that'seasy for conversation certainly to have similar backgrounds.

(01:53):
So let's go through this. Wedo our first date? Is it
two weeks ago? Yeah? Whathappens? Um? We had we went
out to dinner and we had plansto meet up with friends after with some
mutual friends. And after dinner,he just failed. He said he wasn't

(02:14):
like feeling good and he went home. So which bring dinner? It could
happen, Yeah, it's it justseemed like we had like a great like
rapport, like we were having areally good conversation. There wasn't any like
awkward pauses, and then he justand he just failed afterwards, and I

(02:38):
haven't heard from him since. Didyou reach out all to check in?
Like, hey, he's making sureyou're okay? Yeah? I was like,
are you, um, I hopeyou're feeling okay? You know?
Yeah? Yeah, I got Imean, there's nothing worse than having them
again. He's a French Rangers thatYeah, yeah, we've all been there,
embarrassing. Let me do this,Maddie. I'll call him and try

(02:59):
to get him on with us andwe'll try to figure out what's happening.
Okay, okay, cool one second. That would be my biggest time air
is absolutely yea. That's to say. And when it gets bad, Napper,
you know you have to leave,And you're like, I can deal
with him any more? Yeah, yeah, I ain't with the risk.

(03:20):
Hell alright? Calling for Tom please? Yeah? Hey man, it's in
turn John. I got Rose hereas well from your morning show. Can
I talk to you on the airreal quick about something nothing major's real quick?
Yeah? Perfect, dude, we'redoing a second date. Update.
I have somebody on the phone whoknows you. I'm Maddie if you want
to say hello. Perfect. SoTom, Maddie had reached out to us

(03:46):
and she kind of walked us throughthe your guys's history. Um, you
know, on a dating nap headdate two weeks ago, we're supposed to
get drinks afterwards, you weren't feelingwell left, and we haven't heard from
you in about two weeks. Somad, he's wondering, and I guess
we are too. Um. Firstof I hope you're okay. Are you
You're good? Yeah, I'm fine, okay, So why then the no

(04:11):
response for two weeks? I guesswhy? The whole thing will Um.
The situation for me was was kindof weird. Um, she had a
we were having a good time andyou know, date was going well,
and then she had a friend showup that seemed like she was kind of
there too, you know, likeas bail in case things didn't go well

(04:36):
or she showed up. Well,we were having dinner, we get like
I said, we were having fun, and then her friend shows up.
She comes over, she says hi, and like you know, talks a
little bit. It just all kindof seemed like, you know, not
organic. And then, like shesaid, her date was late, so
she ended up sitting down with usfor a little while or having a drink

(04:56):
or two. And I just thoughtthat she was there so that you know,
if you know, Maddie wouldn't havefun if she could bail on me.
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.Wait did friends date ever come eventually?
Yeah? Okay, okay, Um, Maddie, was this a setup

(05:18):
or was this actually just your friendhappened to be in the same restaurant around
the same time with you also ondate? I just happened to be a
coincidence. I mean, like, there's not a lot of hard restaurants to
go on dates at, Maddie.I mean again, respectfully, I think

(05:42):
there's thousands of restaurants in the area. Yeah, go on date said so,
I don't necessarily think that's it.So I'm assuming we knew that,
right, and no judgment this evenit's be easier to get to the bottom
of this. Yeah, I mean, I it's hard to meet strangers on
the internet on app, and Ithink it's good to be safe, So

(06:03):
I have no doubt check in right, I mean no doubt with that.
I think that I think that's certainly, But then why don't then why don't
just do a double date then,as opposed to passing it off as if
didn't didn't see it here? Youknow what I mean, yeah, I
mean, I don't. I thinka double date for a first date is

(06:26):
pretty weird. But I was gonnasay it almost sounds like they're doing the
throuble date. Also, let medo this. I'm gonna put you guys
in hold. I do think there'sstill hope here. Who's side do you
want? Are you team Tom orteam Maddie? Eight seven seven nine nine
five four six they want to callnine eight attacks it's second date update on

(06:46):
your morning show. Second Date Update. We just talked to Maddie and Tom.
I would love your thoughts nine ninethree three eight over techs or eight
seven seven nine nine five four sixA one rosy of thoughts. Look,
I get wanting to have like thatsafety and nod of your friend there,
but like, if you're gonna makeit a thing, well I not just
do like a double date. Yeah, that's the you know I would If

(07:10):
I was on a date with somebodyand their friends showed up, my first
thought's gonna be this is a setup. Like this if it was like a
genuine oh my gosh, I believesomeone I was here, like, that's
different. But this seems like it'sa setup, especially if the plan was
to get drinks afterwards. I wouldimagine you talk to your friends about,
hey, we're gonna get drinks afterwards. You probably knew she had plans to
be on a date. Yeah,I mean that to me a little bit

(07:31):
off. Let me go Odington shantay, good morning, good morning. How
are you guys? Dane? Well, thank you? What do you want
to say with second date? Update? So first I was on her
side. I was like, dag, if you're gonna go, somebody at
least be grown enough to say why. But then hearing her, I'm thinking
you weren't even truthful when the radioshow asked you what happened? Then you
came back and said, well,it's like, so how many whales is

(07:54):
it going to be in a relationship? How many? I mean how many?
And if you're gonna have your girlfriendcome, then she needs to be
in the corner talking you, notin living with you, like hey,
girlfriend, ye to run into you, It's like right way. Yeah,
but I agree with that you cango incognito and make sure that your date.
Our friend is having like an okaytime on their date for sure,
sho heay happen to see you here? Like no don't, don't. Don't

(08:15):
play games because there's going to bemore games moving forward. Baseball hat a
mustache in the corner. I'm withyou. Yes, thank you for calling
it a great day. Let mego in Silver Spring, Kim, good
morning, Hi, good morning. What do you want to say with second
date update? Um? I justlike to say that I don't think that

(08:37):
Maddie did anything wrong. Um,but what she realized she wanted to date
to continue. She so'd just beenhonest and said, you know, congrats,
you pass the vibe cheech. I'mgoing to tell my fun to leave
now. Yeah, that's exactly thinkat that point, I thought it was
funny but okay. And but tomake it seem like it's an obvious lie,
I think that's probably where she wentwill too far as that safe to
say? Kim, Yes, that'sexactly what I'm thinking, Like, you

(08:58):
can't start off a relationship with alie. Yes, you have tense not
work out? Cam. Thank youfor calling have a great day. Thanks,
