So, DC public safety leaders say the district needs to
extend it's tougher youth curfew after an increase in.

June aw crime.

So the DC Council held hearing yesterday to discuss a
three month extension of the curfew, which was put in
place over the summer. They were talking about how it
should become permanent, but we'll see about that. So a
vote on the temporary extension of the curfew is set
for Tuesday. Mayor Muriel Bowser says the DC residents will
receive their snap benefits next month.

Spite the government shutdown.

The mayor announced yesterday that local contingency funding will cover
the thirty million dollars needed.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
For SNAP and Wick benefits now.

Meanwhile, marilynd Governor Wes Moore announced ten million dollars of
state funding toward food banks and food bank partners. And
we talked about this earlier this week, but Virginia was
one of the first states to announce that they would
fund SNAP during the lapse, and.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Daylight Saving Time.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Is ending on Sunday, so we are falling back, which
means we gain an hour of sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:28):

So clocks are going to be.

Set back one hour at two am, so hopefully you
do get an extra hour of sleep unless you have
kids are dogs. But people always ask when is this
going to stop? When are we going to stop? When
can we just stick to one time and not go back?
Probably never at this point, to be honest. The Sunshine
Protection Acts stalled in the House of Representatives despite Senate approval,
and of course the government shut down, so that's not
going to get talked about anytime soon. So who knows,

who knows if it ever will Unless you're in like
Arizona and Hawaii. I think they don't participate, but I digress.
