Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the city that changes the world.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Peers Rose with three things you need to know for.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Your Tuesday, Rose Riapras.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
So, the Supreme Court said yesterday that it will not
reconsider its twenty fifteen ruling that guaranteed same sex marriage.
So the Justice is rejected an appeal from the former
Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage license to same
sex couples after the twenty fifteen decision. She now owes
hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages. So there have
been nearly six hundred thousand same sex couples who have

(00:29):
been married since the landmark decision at ten years ago.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
So that was some good news yesterday.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
So more than a dozen people have been injured in
a people mover crash at Dulas International Airport.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
The crash happened around four to thirty.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yesterday afternoon as a mobile lounge was transporting about fifty
passengers from an arriving flight to Concourse d The people
mover reportedly struck the concourse dock at an angle, forcing
riders to exit the vehicle by using the stairs. The
passengers were evaluated by medical personnel, with eighteen transported to
hospital for treatment.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Off operrations at the airport were not affected by the crash,
but I was like.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
That's that's got a great thing that happened. And veterans
and military members are getting special treatment of public transit
for Veterans Day. So with add or VA or state
issued ID with a Veterans designation, former and current military
members can.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Ride Metro free.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
So that goes for public transit in Maryland, including the
Mark Trains, and Metro is also honoring veterans with patriotic
wraps on some of its vehicles through the end of
the month, which is very cool. Rosidos are the three
things you need to know for the.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Day and grows. You're welcome. Speaking of transit in Centerville,
Mike and morning, Hey guys again our.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Favorite George Mason transit worker. So Mike, you want to
went a coffee this morning, but not for yourself for who?

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I actually want to do it for my fiance. She
she's often she has both the kids, so I figured
she could probably do that. You guys have been together
for how long? Mike coming up? Look at that. Mike.
I'm gonna put you in hold.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
We'll get your coffee, okay, my man, my man. On
one a second, I thought this was that funny. This
is trending today the strange things airbnb hosts have asked
guests to do. When Airbnb first came out, remember it
was like the anti hotel. It was supposed to be
the easier thing of a hotel checking. Yeah, it's cheaper,
it just it just makes things easier. And then like

(02:23):
they let these ho a school board mofos who just
get a little bit of power, ruined the whole thing
where it's become more of a pain in the ass
than actress saying hotel. Absolutely and in some cases more expensive. Yeah,
why do I have to clean up and then pay
cleaning fee? That make some of the most outrageous claims
were some groups had to water plants twice a day.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
No, yeah, yeah uh.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Twenty seven percent of guests that they've been asked to
perform extra home care duties beyond basical clean up. Plant
watering be one of the most common ones. Okay, I'm
not rid of my responsibility. I've never had that happen now.
And I also don't water molena plants feeding their exotic pets.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Oh, take your exotic pets out of there. Yeah, I'm
not paying so babies that your pet, I.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Guess have been asked to handle raw meat for snakes
or prep thow mice for lizards.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
That's a little bit too much. No, only if you
give me a discount and I agree.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
To do It's a huge one discount.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Strip the beds and wash all the sheets. I've I've
had to strip the beds afore.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
I've had to wash the sheets before I left, and
I'm like, so when do I get up? And I
like start washing them because they have to have to
be dry. And then they wanted them put back in
a pile. They didn't want them folded. And I never
would forget how weird that was. I even commented, like
I had messages them the day before. I said, are
you sure that you want them back in a pile?
They're like, yeah, no, we'll fold them.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
That's so bizarre. It's not weird. Again goes back to
why are you paying the cleaning for you them? Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
One of the strangest request was to wash the host children. No,
hell yeah, that's I'm here for a vacation.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Is going to have some random ass person their airbnb
watching their kids?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Literally psych caught it. Refill the fridge from the store.
Some houst have asked, yes, swing by the sort of
restock I m is the way back. Yeah, that's again
that's not what I'm here for it.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
But I've also never really been in an airbnb where
it had stuff in the fridge.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah. I also wouldn't trust it.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Yeah, like they always say that with comedians, like never
if there's stuff left in the green room, don't use
it because people will put body fluids in there like
mayonnaise and stuff to not Yeah, which is fair.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Uh, collect eggs in the chicken cube, that's yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
If you're sitting somewhere like that, then maybe you would
just assume you can't do that.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yeah, But I'm still like, I'm not I'm not sure
a farm hand, Yeah, I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
But I will say if they said I could use them,
I would probably sure.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Ballad I take out the trash daily, they say, being
told empty the trash every single day with exact instructions,
that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
You don't know if I don't do it.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yeah, Well, I think in some places of cameras, I
think that's probably part of it. Which there's not the
worst the places a camera and you can tell her
watching because you'll get updates.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Yeah, okay, how is the outside? He leave me alone?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
You were being really low?

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yeah, you don't even know bro vacuum before you leave.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
No, I've had, like I think i've I don't know
if I think I had like sweep before.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Maybe Okay, leave a handwritten thank you note? Somehow is
don't stuff for island reviews like a man a physical note.
No guests or asked to write something thoughtful before leaving. Uh, yeah,
I think that's no.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
I mean, you can ask me to sign your guest book,
but I'm not writing you a handwritten thank you letting
me stay in your home that I paid for.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
No tend to their garden.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
If do these people know this going in or do
they decide something?

Speaker 4 (05:42):
I think it's one of those things where they probably
read the whole package, you book the place and go.
But like, yeah, that is wild. But also Airbnb is
like this is the reason why you're struggling because you
have morons like this do things I use one towel
the whole state.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
No, that's I haven't at places before where they give
me two towels and I'm there for like a week.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
That's just crazy wild to me. Yeah, do you want
me to walk around your floors wet them?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
And it's a place that you could have more than
just one person.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
And I'm like, okay, what do we do? Turn off
the Wi fi a night?

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Some host believe routers we turned off the night They
say it saves energy or improved sleep.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah. Also for a guess, that means you lose connection.
Yeah that's so.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
And then if you have some place to see if
you have no service, yeah, what you do you only
connected to like Wi fi to talk to people?

Speaker 1 (06:28):
That's a no go. Also, how you would be the
other thing.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
They would know?

Speaker 1 (06:32):
They probably get an alert or something maybe Yeah. And
the last one on here again crazy. Bring the host
a gift?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
No, I'm not gonna bring you a gift by paying?

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yeah, yeah, like if it's not like I'm a guest
in your house for free, like your points, Yeah, I'm
you have my credit card paying? Yes, they say, I
believe or not. Some lessons ask guests bring a present,
could be wine, chocolates, or asupnir from home.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
No, yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
You shouldn't have an airbnb if you're asking for gifts.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
That's weird because I would also feel like at that point,
if I don't give a gift that's good enough, you're
gonna ruin my rating then as a guest, and like
I was messy and charging for stuff that's weird. I'm
not giving an offering. If I'm seeing your house for free,
I'll bring wine or something, but again that's.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
A it's a no go. The intern Johnny Morning Show
is somber now.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
