Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the City that changes the world. Cheers Rose with
three things you need to know? Are you Tuesday? Rose
gi Operas.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
So, if you still don't have a real ID or
a valid passport, flying is about to get a little
bit more expensive for you. Ninety four percent of US
travelers already have their real IDEA or passport to fly,
but TSA announced that passengers without either of those will
have to pay forty five dollars.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
I am yeah, so and that.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
And at least for now, that'll be for a ten
day period, So if you're doing like a round trip
within that ten days, you're not gonna have to pay
ninety dollars. But I think eventually it's gonna have to
be every single time you fly if you don't get
your real I D. So you're also gonna have to
go through a biometric or biographic system before you can
pass through the security line. You're gonna be able to handle.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
That process at TSA dot com.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
But the TSA says that the fee will pay for
administrative and it costs associated with verifying the identities of
people without the real IDEA or passport. So if you
still don't have it, stop being a slacker and just
go get it, just do it. Because of the weather
and today in the DMV there are two hour delays
for schools you need to be aware of. So Virginia
Culpepper County, Bulkier County, Frederick County, VA, Louding County, Winchester County.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Schools on a two hour delay.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
In Maryland, Montgomery County, PG County, Washington County, Baltimore County.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Carroll County, Frederick County, Hard County.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Also on two hour delays, So just double check before
you head to school because that could also change throughout
the morning depending on the weather. And DC is asking
for able bodied residents to join its volunteer snow shoveling program.
We talked about this last year, so the city requires
all sidewalks to be cleared within eight hours after a snowfall.
(01:41):
Seniors and disabled residents can have trouble meeting that deadline.
So the DC Volunteer snow program pairs those in need
with those who are willing to help, which is very
very cool. I'll make sure to have this information up
for ymssradio dot com if you're interested in volunteering, And
just a reminder, today is Giving Tuesday. Yeah, so if
you have favorite chair, and you we're able to please
(02:01):
do me. Those are the three things you know for
the day.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Thank you, Rose, You're welcome. Let me go in Sarasota, Florida.
On the FREET radio at Michelle, good morning.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Good morning everybody. What we're doing for a Tuesday?
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Girl, I don't get ready for work?
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Unfortunately?
Speaker 1 (02:17):
What do we do for work? I sit at a
desk all day? Okay, Hey, same girl, same Michelle.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
We appreciate you listening on the at Michel can get
you a coffee and a T shirt for listening.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I am so excited. I'd listen every single day forever.
So yep, I would love it.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
We love to get Michelle on one second. I'll get
you in for that's amazing. Wherever we listen the app too,
we appreciate you real quick. We talked a lot this
year about like Airbnb kind of taking the dump the
last year and a half or so. Yeah, so you
prefer hotels or airbnbs.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I did prefer airbnbs, but then it's honestly changed so
much since I started using them that now hotels are fine.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, it's almost like they adjusted. I think Airbnb overplay
their hand in hotels like we have all the property.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
And the money.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Honestly, I like having my room clean, It's sure. I
like that aspect. And then like you know, with the
hotel comes with the pool and stuff. I like that.
So if I'm just doing like a trip which is
one front or something, sure, sir Rose, how about you?
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I still prefer airbnbs because then the girls can have
their own rooms and I don't have to share a
room with them.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Aid, Yeah, I guess it. Me depends on like the experience.
If I swung a cabin, probably do the Airbnb. But
if I want, like if I'm staying downtown somewhere, then
cotels a little bit easier. So according to this research,
sixty two percent of folks now choose hotels over Airbnb
or verbos. Yeah, they say, Amandy's the top reasons. So
having like the saucepoint, the pool or the gym or whatever,
(03:47):
followed by no cleaning rules or surprise fees. Love it
because that was also the thing to the Airbnb start
doing like O it's one hundred dollars a night. Then
you check out it's like Uber eats, it's like one
ninety five. Like where did that come from? Yeah, it's
not good. Plus the easy booking slash cancelation policies as well.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Yeah, I don't disagree. Even once I was checking out
of Airbnb, and this is also the same place that
tried to charge me before saying actually no, it wasn't nearmind,
but either way I was trying. I checked out, and
at the same time that I was checking out, because
checkout was at ten am of this Airbnb, was when
the cleaning people are coming in and I had to
go back inside and get the cooler that I forgot
(04:24):
that I left in the kitchen, and they try to
charge me for an extra day because I didn't have
everything out yet.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Oh that's annoying, isn't that insane?
Speaker 4 (04:30):
I was going back and forth on the phone with
them because I said I literally would have just given
up the cooler if I knew it would cost me
an entire day of.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Saying that's not no, that's yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Half of those polls so they feel safer at hotels
than they do with airbnbs, Yeah, yeah, I don't.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
They usually cheaper as well.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I think fair travelers think Airbnb's hidden fees also make
hotels cheaper than Airbnb for stays.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
The United States.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Absolutely fair. They also say hotels more transparent about prices.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeh fees.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I also feel like hotels reputations they care about more
than the Airbnb because Airbnb it could be Bill yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
And you can also just like change that location be
somebody else's name.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
They say hotels the preferred places say during the holiday season, okay, okay,
And then fifty percent believe short term rental prices have
got more of the hotel prices this time of year.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
I think that's probably.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Only do especially with my family, we were looking for
a cabinet stay at this year. The prices between this
year and last year are just so much higher.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
It's crazy. Yeah, it's actually crazy.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
For travelers who prefer airbnb's, they say it's all about
the space and privacy. Yeah, it can make sense, yeah,
and then also kitchen access and home salmonities.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
I would say for your family, I do think that
airbnb makes sense. You know, it is a bit cheaper
if you do it that way. But if for single
people like myself.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Dan, I just think too with the Airbnb's, they're like,
I'm afraid to use the kitchen stuff or if they
leave like stuff behind, like the sun pepper and my
eye on trust.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yes, yeah, I'm rewashing every dish before.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Actually, absolutely to your point, Saus more than half prefer
vacation rentals for larger groups or families. Yeah, I think
that's fair. And then overall, sixty one percent thinks a
city should limit the number of short term rentals and
high demand housing markets.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
I don't disagree.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I know him for a while, Like in Nashville, that
was a hot one. Everybody's like buying airbnbs, and then
like they kind of shot themselves in the foot and
then nobody was saying there.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
They had a big issue with it because of how
the insurance is now because of all the hurricanes.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Got Worre's Galaston, Texas.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
That's off the coast, it's like outside Preston.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Okay, yeah, I guess I don't know. I think that
it was one of those things where the intent was good.
It's like hotels are sucking and then Airbnb's really like
I left a pair of shorts at an Airbnb once
and they're gonna charge me like one hundred dollars and
mail it.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
I'll never forget that. That was wild.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Hey, you can just keep them like now those are
yours and all this leaveyer of you saying you're gonna
hold my shorts hostage.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
And you know for a fact that they didn't do
anything with that, now probably through them WOID didn't even
donate that.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
No, Yeah, they were for sure gone. I was like,
all right, that's it's not worth the time. So thank
you for Rooney intern Johnny Morning Shows to bring us
on now.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Intern john in your morning
Speaker 1 (06:55):
