Speaker 1 (00:00):
How about from the city that changes the world?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Pierce Rose with three things you need to know?

Speaker 1 (00:06):
Are your Monday Rose? What you got for us?

Speaker 3 (00:08):
So?

Speaker 4 (00:08):
DC Water says untreated water waste was released into the
Anacostia River over the weekends. The utility says a sewer
line failure let over six thousand gallons of wastewater flow
into the river. This was early Saturday morning. Residents have
been told to avoid swimming, fishing, or boating in the
river until testing shows it is safe.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
To do so. Also, keep your pets away from the water.
There are signs being.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Posted along the river bings inaffected areas, so you will
see that. Thirty two people had to be rescued after
getting stuck on a ride at six Flags America.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Bang Baby nine.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Not the way I would want to end my tenure.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
So first responders were called to the park on Saturday
afternoon after the steam Whirler ride stopped working. Thirty two
people on the ride at the time. They were stuck
on the ride for more than an hour.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Okay, don't like that, no, thank you.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
Each person was evaluated and cleared after they were freed
from the ride. I think one person ended up going
to the hospital, but it was unrelated to the ride.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
So there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
And the one hundred and forty fourth Maryland State Fair
is opening this Thursday. Horse racing, live glass blowing, and
animal shows are all plans sound looking a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
The fare will open over three weekend at.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
The Maryland State Fairground, so it's Thursday through Sunday as
well as Labor Day Monday. And they change the dates
to a weekend schedule so students don't have to.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Miss school to attend the fair, which is pretty cool.
I'm ros. Those are the three things you need to
know for the day.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Thank you, Rose, You're welcome. I got two things real quick.
Number one, they did a study to find out how
many miles we scroll on our phone today want to craze,
so they did it base on states. So the biggest
state was Arizona. Okay, So people scroll one hundred and
fifteen miles per year on their phone. My god, which

(01:54):
is the equivalent of almost nine hours of screen time
per day.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
That's hot. Yeah, great, The top.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Ten Maryland ninety five miles a year we scroll on
our phone. Merlin, all right, yeah, so they say the
average American spends six and hours per day on screens,
which is about twenty four hundred hours angy.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Especially if you're just working from your phone or so.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah, they say the average person checks their phone average
of fifty eight times a day.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
Okay, I can see that.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I'm sure if I counted it up, I would be alarmed.
How quick did I get to fifty eight?

Speaker 5 (02:25):
Oh for sure?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Yeah, that would.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Not be can look at your phone and I'll tell
you how many times you know, I know.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
You do that. I know there's the screen time feature
right there. Yeah, it's fine.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
I like the screen time thing, but.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah, I want to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I'm down two percent this week, so that's nice.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah, I'm gonna bother with that. Also, Labor days next weekend,
it is, which is crazy. That kind of came up
o on nowhere. So they're talking about the labor day
triple A puts out like when to go and all
that kind of stuff. Are they saying that flights are
six percent cheaper than they were last year? Nice, that's good,
averaging seven twenty ticket That still seems that's a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, So cheaper than last year doesn't mean cheaper than
year seven.

Speaker 5 (03:06):
I don't I'm not going anywhere.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, unless first class maybe seven twenty just to nothing.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
That's insane. I don't know where you're going seven twenty.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Hotel rates are down this summer average of eleven percent lower.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Rental cars are three percent cheaper than last Labor Day.
I'm gonna be honest, I have not seen these savings
where we are.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
I will say though, when I have off the plane
tickets lately, I'm like, oh, finally, like they're a little
bit cheaper, yeah than they were.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yeah, they say Roseman the busiest starting Thursday of Labor Day. Yeah,
worst time to drive is from one to eight pm.
I feel like that's pretty that's yeah common sense yep,
for Thursday Friday, as well as from ten am to
six pm on Saturday, Okay, yeah, and then coming back
they say one to four pm on Sunday is gonna
be the worst Sunday.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Yeah. As far as the.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Top Labor Day weekend destinations in the US, sauce you
had a guess who.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
Makes the top ten Labor Day weekend I would say, well,
I was gonna say Ocean City, but I don't know
if that's in the top.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Charleston, Charleston Okay, right, I was give me one.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Miami, okay, Vegas is at ten, Okay, sure, sure, Miami's
at nine.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Look at that.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Denver, Colorado at eight.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Okay, I think Labor Day in Denver. But okay, unless
the Red Rocks. Maybe there's a show, I don't know. Yeah,
Atlanta's at seven. You live in Atlanta for ten years.
I don't know why you're going there for later.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
I'm gonna say anything big in Labor dor anything, No, Okay,
Chicago's at six.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Yeah, Chicago's great anytime of year.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Anchorage, Alaska, Yeah, what are we doing? I think Alaska'
be dope for every reason. My TikTok for you pages
restaurants in Alaska right now, and just like the King
Crab Buckets some like that sounds love?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
What Okay if that's.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
A weekend trip, But Alaska makes sense because I would
want to go, personally, go somewhere where it's not as hot,
and I feel like Alaska would be the first place
I would think of, sir.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Boston's at four, Sure, it's a fun little weekend. New
York City's at three.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Orlando too also makes sense because of Yeah, I'm sure.
Number one is Seattle. I'm gonna be honest.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Seattle is fun though.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Yeah, I've been there once and it's depressing though. The
weather is like no, it's not it's the weather is
not great. It's it's constantly I rainy and like murky.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Sure like that. That isn't always true.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
When I was in Seattle, there was one day that
it rained and I was there for like a week.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Well, Rose, you're perfect, okay, Yeah, you live in Seattle. Yes, summer,
the high is like eighty sure, and the main lake
in Seattle, like.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
It's good weather, so you should go. You should go.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
It's like relaxed. Yeah, it's relaxed, mild, not human.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
You can go hiking and that like sweat everything else.
I forgot to plan.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
I don't think I'm doing anything.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah, might just be here because I was going.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
To go to Florida and then we changed her mind
from Maggie and I okay, it's not from Maggie ied alright,
not you, John, You're not You're not doing that. Okay, Yeah,
I'll probably be pulling up you know.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
No, wait, give more video calls hopefully.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
I just want to be more tan.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Sorry you are tan?

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Yeah, but I only have two more weeks left to
get even more tan, is what I'm telling you. Sure, so,
if anything in the next two weeks that people want
to pull my calendar, it's just not going to happen.
It's what I'm trying to that's already on my calendar.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
We're gonna sit in the sun section that's already.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
On my calendar. Guys, this is not what I'm saying.
If you were to say today, hey, noon, next Wednesday,
I say.

not noon. That's true at six pm.
