scary when you're next to somebody in a vehicle or
in a house, you know, you'll really know what they're
doing or what's going on. Man powers his home for
eight years using over one thousand laptop batteries. What that
sounds again, I'm not a scientist, not a rocket surgeon.
That sounds like a firehouse.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I was gonna say that sounds so dangerous.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Think of a hot our laptops got powering Microsoft word.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah, imagine you in your house. Oh my gosh, excuse me.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
So what begame nine years ago is simple plan for
a DIY project, laid out on airnet forum, which also
so he was.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
His DIY project was to power his whole house from
the get go, not just like a blender.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah, okay, so is hailed as a monumental achievement, both
from a sustainable energy standpoint and from the perspective of
battery recycling. It doesn't Again, I'm not an electrical guy.
That that sounds like a disaster.

And that was my friend be like, yeah, I'm not
not doing that, So I guess the guy.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Over time, he says he masked more than one thousand
second hand laptop batteries, which is fantastic. They end up
installing a separate warehouse about fifteen years from his home,
or so he speaks. In the beginning, battery discharge rates
were uneven, the differences in the cells, Yeah, because he
would need to have the same battery.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
And also do you have to replace them all the time?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
I assume so, And because I hold in that kind
of thing too, causing some of the drain faster than others.
So he started taking part laptop batteries, arranging the cells
in custom racks. Again, imagine your neighbor's doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Well.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
So did he just want to be like, hey, I
did it?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I think so. I think it's trying to brage his
friends online. So it's been rank continuously for eight years.
Oh my god. Yeah, according to him, that a single
battery cell has failed.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Sense I don't believe that. Hey, listen, they say you
impress a lot of people. If you live in your meat,
please don't and also if you are I don't want
to know.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, that's probably a better way of putting it. So
there you go. He said he has collected extra batteries.
He's around six hundred and fifty for now, So there
