Speaker 1 (00:00):
From higher top Monroe Center in downtown Grand Rapids. We're
talking about what matters most to you when West Michigan
joined the conversation. Now at six one six seven seven four,
twenty four twenty four. At six one, six seven seven
four twenty four twenty four, it's West Michigan Live with
Justin Barklay on Wood Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
It wasn't already on a big enough news day and
traffic story here we have.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
It's a breaking news West Michigan. And beyond this, he's
the Big Three.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Now see speaking three.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
No time though is today Hjim Lynding dot Com, our
partners and the folks powering the Big Three today. Like
I said, already a big enough newsday and then you know,
slam on top of it. The they've actually started the
raids on the deep state ladies.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
Number winner.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
John bolt Uh, the former National security and of course,
works in President Trump's first term. FBI agents have raided
his home today in Maryland, part of the investigation into
what they're calling a national security matter, US officials telling
Justin News this morning. FBI director Cash Mantel hinted at
(01:14):
the action in a cryptic post on his.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Ax account and they're showing the showing the home on television,
which is wild to think about too. The guys, and it's,
you know, just some standard, you know, neighborhood in Maryland.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
It's not like, you know, some massive compound or cash
posting on X. No one is above the law. Officials
saying that searched Bolton's home involving the National Security kids
that began under the Biden administration wasn't aggressively pursued until
Patel took over earlier this year. No further details, but
(01:52):
we've got some that might be coming out here.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
We'll try and get to. The news continues to.
Speaker 6 (01:59):
Break it.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Total victory, President Trump calling it just that, a total victory.
That five hundred million dollars civils set the fine essentially
that he had to pay that judge ergeron case that
guy obviously clearly from the beginning just an absolute hack.
And now five judges in the decision that was unanimous
(02:25):
five zero, the New York cort of his pills throwing
that judgment out.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Big legal win, and of course it's a lot of dough.
Letitia James, the Attorney general. They're probably not.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
Having President Trump though, making more big news swinging by
the DC National Guard federal surge last night, stopping at
the US Park Police the Anacostia facility there to think
Trump's and handout burgers and pizza touting is crime crackdown
despite earlier hence he didn't patrol with officers, but he
(03:02):
was at that new sheriff in town. That's that's that's
sort of a headline there, folks, And we told you
yesterday and it bears repeating because it's a massive headline.
But first time we've seen this in decades. I can't
remember last time. No homicides in DC in the last
(03:24):
seven It's just incredible. The crime stats, the statixas there
are free falling.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
MutS. Just be a coincidence. I'm I'm sure, folks.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Hang on your chance to join the program true today
on a free for all Friday.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Called Justin Now at six one, six seven seven four
twenty four to twenty four at six one, six seven
seven four twenty four to twenty four, West Michigan Live
with Justin Barclay on news Radio Wood thirteen hundred and
one oh six nine.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Alf Am, let's get some of this coming off of
Fox News this morning. Reporting still coming in the breaking
news about the raid are Bolton. So yeah, hopefully we'll
know something soon, but I doubt it'll be real quick.
Speaker 7 (04:08):
I don't think we're going to have anything but kind
of the public posturing for the next few weeks or months.
Speaker 8 (04:12):
And Nicole, we continue to take a look at these
live images outside of John Bolton's house in Maryland. Just
give us a little color. What do you think is
going on inside that house right now with these federal agents.
Are they essentially grabbing any computer, any cell phone, any
boxes of folders they find or is it a little
bit more narrowed and tailored than that.
Speaker 9 (04:32):
That's an excellent question. You know, when you execute a
search warner as an agent, typically it is very common
that in the FBI we do execute search warrants first
thing in the morning. That's for a number of reasons. Obviously,
we want to make sure that you know the person
is home, you have a higher chance of reaching them.
Typically the person is not present while you're executing the warrant.
Typically we ask the person, hey, can you please step
(04:53):
outside of your home, your office, wherever it may be,
so that the agents can go through. But as mentioned,
the warrant is very specific and it says you know
what you can search for, what you're allowed to take,
what areas you're allowed to search. And so agents are
going in there and they're looking very closely at that affidavit,
at the attachment what they're allowed to take, and that's
what they're doing. So it really depends on what the
(05:14):
warrant specifies. And again that comes down to again the
magistrate judge. Whatever the magistrate judge authorizes, the agent goes
before the magistrate judge, raises their right hand, swears out
the warrant, and then the FBI or law enforcement agency
is able to execute that warrant. And so that's why
you're seeing them going at seven am. You know, typically
we would do them at six or seven am. They
(05:34):
go and I'm not sure if you've noticed in other
news sites, but there are people outside the home and
there's one man wearing a T shirt that says Trump
is a national disgrace or something to that effect. So
they'll typically say please please step out, and then the
agents go in and like you we've mentioned, there is
a property receipt. You sign everything that you took, you
put it in there. You give them a copy of
the warrant and then you exit the home. Sometimes warrants
(05:57):
take ten minutes to execute, sometimes thirty minutes, sometimes hours.
It really just depends. But I do believe that this
is probably going to be a long term investigation. And
again it's important to note he is not under arrest.
This is simply a search warrant. That is a very
important difference. A lot of times we execute a search
warrant and arrest simultaneously. That is not what this is.
(06:17):
This is only a search warrant.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
I mean told it.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
This corresponds as sort of classified documents or records case.
That's that's the So it'll be very similar to the
mar al Lago scenario.
Speaker 10 (06:35):
The probe dropped when Joe Biden became president.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
So is this picking up where that left off?
Speaker 3 (06:41):
David, It's possible.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
I don't know with one hundred percent certainty, but it
is notable, guys that John Bolton, Ambassador bolton security clearances
were stripped earlier this year by President Trump. Tulsey Gabber,
the Director of National Intelligence, took that security clearance away.
They had concerns. The administration had concerned about Ambassador Bolton
still being able to access some of these documents and
(07:05):
have some of those security clearances. It's also notable that
John Bolton had a security detail as well because of
the threats from Iran on his life. That security detail,
that government federal paid security detail, was also taken away
by President Trump's.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
It's interesting to see over on ex Roger Stone sharing
this morning.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Good morning, John Bolton.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
How does it feel to have your home rated at
six o'clock in the morning. Uh, lots of folks with
various amounts and servings of popcorn this morning for breakfast.
I don't know what the day I just said. This
is really people, So when are the arrests gonna happen?
Speaker 8 (07:49):
One?
Speaker 11 (07:49):
Are they?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Well?
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I certainly don't know that this is the end all
be all, but I will tell you that this is
certainly an interesting step in a direction that they probably
will lead us in ways it will change the country. Well,
it's already been changed. We've already seen that tomorro a
Lago ride proof of that. Okay, quick break, We're supposed
to talk to our good friend Kyle Olsen, who was
(08:13):
just at the White House after history was made there.
We'll find out that story and find out actually his
story and talk Michigan and Moore from our good friends
at the Midwestern or the Midwesterner dot News. Back after this,
It's West Michigan Live. If you're able, please stand for
a national anthem.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Setting the record straight. It's West Michigan Live with Justin
Barklay on News Radio one thirteen hundred and one oh
six nine a f and on demand anytime on the
iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 6 (09:54):
Here are your headlines from the Midwestern Or this Friday,
August twenty second. I'm Robin Hoffman. It's a Midwesterner Dot
news original story.
Speaker 8 (10:02):
Ah.
Speaker 6 (10:03):
Yes, Whitmer's Michigan turns out more bad economic news for
the Democrat governor. Five thousand jobs lost in July, the
unemployment rate at five point three percent, the third highest
in the country. Michigan House Speaker Republican Matt Hall says
the rank choice voting ban is something the Senate should consider.
The bill passing in the House along party lines, with
(10:24):
one hundred Republicans voting yes and all Democrats voting against it.
President Trump visits the National Guard operation in Washington, d C.
Feeding those working to keep tourists and residents safe, burgers
and pizza.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
We're going to stay here for a while. We want
to make this absolutely perfect. It's our capital.
Speaker 10 (10:41):
I guess it used to be many years ago, say,
but it certainly not had a very good run. And
you've got to be strong, you got to be tough,
You got to do your job.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Whatever it takes to do your job. You got to
do your job.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
For these stories and more, visit the Midwesterner at the
Midwesterner dot news.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Here for Kyle Olson back from DC the Swamp. Indeed, Kyle,
welcome in the Midwestern or dot News. Let's start fresh
with the big story at the top of the stack.
We got so much to get to today, but let's
start with us. John Bolton, the Deep State is home
being ranted sort of a sounds like a very similar
case to what they did with President Trump and mar
(11:20):
A Lago, but sounds like there may have been some
actual documents that they were looking at here.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Well, this is I think I don't think anybody should
be surprised. I mean President Trump and and you know,
many members of his administration have long said that the
deep State was weaponized against him, and so this is
not a surprise. And it's going to be interesting to
see how this unfolds. You know, and what we have
(11:50):
seen is that you know, there's allegations against Adam Schiff,
there's allegations against James Tomy, so there's many that. You know. Basically,
people had said they used the government, they selectively leaked information,
classified information, and now it appears accountability.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Is coming well from your lips to God's ears. I
think that's what folks would say this morning as you're
watching this. Yeah, we voted for this, and and part
of that would also be with some of these schemes
they were running behind the scenes. You mentioned Adam Shift,
but Letitia James and these mortgage scheme operations that they
had going on behind it. They never thought they would
(12:33):
get busted because they were part of the machinery. They
were part of the scene this, so they didn't There's.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
No way any of this will ever take place.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
I'm getting a retweet from Dan's Covino back in twenty
four what did John Bolton do with all of his
yellow notepads that he always took copious notes on in
the cabinet room, the oval office, the situation room, traveling abroad,
et cetera, et cetera. That's from the Deceimber about a
year ago. Interesting, somebody sent that to me as we
shared this story this morning.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
So this is something that's just developing.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
We're gonna have more of it, and I'm sure as
the story continues to unfold, we'll share with you some
of the big things that are happening. In fact, there
are lots of big things happening here in Michigan. Just
on my list today, I got a couple of really
big stories. Whitmer's Michigan. More bad economic news for the
Democrat governor. Five thousand jobs lost in in July alone,
(13:30):
the unemployment rate at five point three percent, the third
highest in the country.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
Incredible.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
So what is she doing. She's going to Japan.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Jet set in Whitmer.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah, she's popping on her broomstack to Japan for two weeks.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
It's incredible.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
And here we on the Midwestern we cover what's happening
in Lancing. They don't have a budget, and a lot
of the Lancing media is, you know, panicking because there's
no budget. House Speaker Matt Hall, it appears what he
is doing is holding the line on spending and he
(14:11):
is saying we have waste, fraud, and abuse. The state
budget under Gretchen Whitmer has gone up billions and billions
of dollars every single year, something like thirty billion dollars
since she has taken office, which if you figure the
budget is now proposed about eighty three billion dollars. She's
(14:33):
added thirty billion dollars to get to that point. She
has massively grown spending and Matt Hall and the House
Republicans are saying, we have got to get this under control.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
And so.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
But so, as this deadline, it's a September thirty October
first deadline is looming for a state budget, Gretchen Whitmer says,
I'm going to Japan for two weeks in September. These
are not serious people, and so, yes, we had a
story about economic data. Michigan continues to net lose jobs.
(15:07):
And so instead of going to Ohio or Indiana or
Illinois or Wisconsin or California or New York or states
in the United States of America, Gretchen Whitmer is going
halfway across the world for what. Because she has gone
to other countries in Asia, she's gone to Europe, she's
gone to the Middle East, and has nothing to show
(15:30):
for it. So when she goes to Japan for two weeks.
What is she going to have to show for it?
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:37):
You know what's interesting about this particularly this is all
happening at the same time they still haven't held an election,
the special election that's still floating out there. Speaker Matt
Hall saying, by the way, if you don't pass a budget,
we want to pass this deal where you're not going
to get paid and Democrats not.
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I'm fans of that. No budget, no pay. I kind
of like the sound of that.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
The other thing that he's speaking out about, which I
think is a big issue here in Michigan, folks, is
going to creep up if we don't step up and
do something again against it. Is that ranked choice voting
and that's a scam. And where they're doing this in
other places you've already seen that sort of Alaska and
a few other places where they're doing this, it has
(16:20):
dire consequences.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
He's moving to get a ban on this right now.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Do you think they'll get that done or Democrats just
going to say, nah, we want to try and do
whatever we can to scam the system.
Speaker 5 (16:31):
Well, it pass through the House. The State Senate is
not doing a whole lot and I suspect that they
want ranked choice voting. The Democrats do, and so it
probably it's going to have a tough time in the Senate.
But the House Republicans took a stand on it and
said this is not a change that we want. What's
interesting is that a few months ago Jocelyn Benson, the
(16:54):
Secretary of State, actually sort of said, we've had massive
changes in the last two election cycles to our election system,
and so we shouldn't do another one, and so she
sort of came out against it. Interesting though she's not
I think she's trying to play both sides. But the
point is, yes, this the public awareness campaign about ranked
(17:17):
choice voting what it does in places like New York
and Alaska. And it's interesting because the guy from Alaska
who's spent millions of dollars on this, a very wealthy guy,
came to Michigan to do this, and so it's not
people in Michigan, because people in Alaska are trying to
impose this on Michigan, on the Michigan the Michigan election system.
(17:38):
And so it's interesting to see how quickly the House
moved to try and get ahead of this and protect
the state from this. We'll have to see what the
Senate does.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Kyle Olson, the Midwest and the Midwestern our dot nos
ringing the alarm. In fact, we got to somebody over
on I think it was Terry over the other day.
So thank you for streaming the press conference with Matt
holl the Speaker the House US the other day Midwestern
bringing a lot of that content to you. In fact,
I know you've been ringing the alarm with the live
stream of the event that happened with Detroit mayor Democrat
(18:13):
Doug and who really he is. He's running as an independent.
He is all on board as a Democrat. He won't
tell you that, but there's a reason why you're ringing
the alarm on this. It was a big event and
it seems as though they've got their stuff together in
some ways. Is he somebody we ought to be alarmed
about as Republicans moving into this next election?
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Well, I think Mike Dougan concluded he couldn't win a
Democrat primary against Jocelyn Benson, which may actually be a
different story now because Benson has not run a very
good campaign, but he decided he was a make no mistake,
he is not an independent he's a Democrat as recently
(18:57):
as last summer he was a to the Democrat National
Convention for Kamala Harris. He's not an independent, and we
make that very clear. But he did this massive event
in had looked like hundreds of people in Detroit where
he was touting endorsements from Republicans, independents, Democrats. The mayor
(19:23):
of Hudsonville was there and endorsing him. You have to
ask the mayor of Hudsonville why he would do that.
I don't know why he would do that, but he did.
And so what we are so we're reporting what's going on.
And if you're triggered by facts, then you probably shouldn't
read The Midwesterner because all we're doing is reporting what
(19:43):
is going on in the state of Michigan. And what
I'm seeing is the quote unquote he's running as an independent.
He's not an independent, but I see the independent candidate
out campaigning, and I see some Republican candidates, including the
so called front runner, not working very hard and so
(20:04):
and so what we're doing is sounding the alarm that
as Republican candidates are on vacation or they're in northern
Michigan for a long time, or they're in Europe or
whatever they're doing. Mike Duggan is out getting endorsements. He's
raising money from Republican donors, et cetera. And people love
(20:27):
to attack donors, but they're the ones that help candidates win.
And there are a lot of Republican donors we've reported
about this that are going and supporting Mike Duggan. Now
it's entirely possible they're doing it because they have business
in the city. I don't know they want to continue
to the corporate welfare. I don't know why they're doing that,
(20:47):
but the point is they're doing that. And so the
Republican candidates have got to get serious because Mike Duggan
is a serious candidate and Jocelyn Benson or whoever the
Democrat candidate is is going to have ten of millions
of dollars to paint Mike Duggan as a Republican. So
they've got to wake up.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Kyle Olsen, the Midwestern of Midwestern ord News with always
always a great conversation. Appreciate you taking a time to
be here with us and keeping us up to date
these stories and more.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Don't just book market.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Definitely do that, but make sure you put your email
in and get the latest at the Midwestern or News.
Thank you, my friend, appreciate you, Thank you, God blessed.
Back with more back to school in fact, we're going
to talk with the president of Cornerstone about kids making
their way back and what you can expect this year.
And of course yeah, more breaking news on the way
in fact, and now welcome back in and of course
(21:38):
we want to talk to you this morning as well.
It's a free for all Friday. You can join up
on the phone line at six one six seven seven
four twenty four twenty four.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
That's it. I'm going to get in.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Also the iHeartRadio on the app there, if you click
that talkback feature that's a little microphone button sitting next
to the play button. When you click that, you'll be
a rent rave comment, complain, take a number, but it
goes directly to us and we might be able to
play it on the air. We'd love to hear from you.
Kids are headed back to school, in fact, many of
(22:11):
them already already there or on their way. And we
know college is, you know, gearing up for what really
has been a sort of a tough environment in a
lot of ways, so we we talk to the folks
who are doing some of the most I think, taking
some of the most creative approaches to schools. Right now
and right fact in our own backyard at Cornerstone University,
the president there is joining us right now on the
(22:33):
phone's your son Marino Rihan. You'll thank you President. We
appreciate you being here with us again today. And as
I said, this is back to school. The kids are
moving and it's a lot of fun, but there's a
lot of things that go go into all of this.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Welcome in, justin, thank you so much. It's great to
be here. And it's the beautiful day here in Grand
Rapid at Cornerstone University. Our new students are coming today,
new moving day of their parents and families already on campus,
moving in their kids, young adults, I should say, And
it's an exciting day here at Cornerstone.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
You know, we've seen all the last year, particularly I
call it the find out era, and that kind of
goes along with the fool around and find out mantra,
but there is this sort of a revelation all these
things are coming to light, and particularly some of the
biggest cracks in higher learning and those institutions across the country.
You saw a lot of it last year, and he
commented on it, and we've talked about it before, but
(23:25):
you know, as much of these major institutions like Harvard
and some of these other coming under fire for what
was allowed to happen on campuses and essentially really what's
been happening for decades, which I think is not really
education but an indoctrination of some of these students. I know,
it's a refreshing that there are still places like Cornerstone
where that type of thing is not happening, and you're
(23:48):
doing everything it can to guard against it, make sure
that our kids come out with a great education, ready
for the world, but full of faith.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
And it's something that matters.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Does and it's such a travesing in so many ways,
because the goal of education is to educate men and women,
young and young people to what is beautiful, true, and good.
It's not indoctrination, is not the creation of skeptics and cynicism.
And so oftentimes the universities have allowed, under the mantra
of academic freedom, lots of other things to come in
(24:22):
that are not educational, are not good, are not beautiful
or not true, actual destructive not just to society but
to the student. And we just had a wonderful retreat
here on our campus for our faculty and staff just
several days ago, and one of the things we discussed
is the fact that over you know, in the last
three decades and even in today, students are still asking
(24:45):
some fundamental questions about life. Who am I, What's my purpose?
How do I live a meaningful life? How do I
ensure that what I do matters to people and helps people?
Right the really profound questions of life? And yet today's
universities are more secular than they have ever been and
(25:05):
thus unable to answer those fundamental questions of life that
our students bring justin. And I'm grateful to be a
place at Cornerstone University where we take that seriously. And
we begin with our faith, our Christian faith and commitment
to Jesus Christ and the Gospel, but also our commitment
to truth, beauty and goodness, and providing a world class
education that answers those questions for our students and also
(25:28):
prepares them for the market and for the industry the
twenty first and twenty second century. We want our students
to take our Christian worldview and a strong moral foundation,
a true North moral compass, but be able to leverage
that and integrate that in a profound way to bless
the market and industry and their communities and be several
(25:51):
steps ahead of other graduates and with the good they
bring and the solutions they bring and a great thinking
they bring. And that's what we're committed to, and we're
grateful to do it and for the opportunity to do.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
It justin you know, one of the other things that
been dealing with over the last year or so is
and it's been building for a long time now, but
the affordability or the unaffordability when it comes to higher education.
I know you all have been sort of behind this
push to really be an innovative here and make college
(26:22):
affordable again.
Speaker 4 (26:24):
Yes, that's right. So two years ago we looked at
the market and all that we were doing, and we
had a sort of a charge to our team, Look,
we need to really ensure that we're providing phenomenal value
at a phenomenal price point to our families in Michigan
and beyond. We have students that come from you know,
throughout the country and how do we do that, And
so we launch a tuition reset of twenty two percent
(26:46):
and we have not raised tuition since. So now we
are the most affordable private university in Michigan, offering probably
the best value out there educational value. Just to make
a point this year, and we're so grateful for this.
Justin Wall Street Journal ranked Cornerstone is one of America's
top collegests. They ranked five hundred colleges and we were
one of them. We were the only faith based university
(27:09):
in West Michigan to receive that right recognition from the
Wall Street Journal, and only one of sixteen at all
ninety sixteen Michigan. So we want to bring phenomenal value,
not just price point wise, but academics wise and student
life wise. And then this year we did something really incredible.
We worked on it for two years. I'm so grateful
to our faculty staff and so many who've supported this effort.
(27:31):
We launched the nation's first undergraduate accredited degree. It's a
business degree on a mobile app platform, so that if
you have a phone, you can accomplish and finish your
entire undergraduate strategic business management degree on your phone. Androd
Apple and the price point is twenty four thousand dollars
(27:52):
for the entire degree if you bring credits in and
we take credits and we assess that it's even less
than that. And I just want to stop and make
a point that there's no other university in the country
that's doing that. It's often world class academics and a
world class experience and a mobile format or a stone
at a price point that I think will blow up
(28:14):
this whole issue of the unaffordability crisis of higher ed
in America.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Yeah, I love. I love to see that.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
And I know that you've been pretty outspoken about DEI
what one last thing before I let you go, DI
is dead.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
I've heard you.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Say, well, you know, we when I came here four
years ago, four and a half years ago to Cornerstone.
I mean, those are conversations that were raging here in
West Michigan, even at Cornerstone, and we focused on our mission.
You know, we're committed to the scriptures and what we
are told, and we believe that every human being is
made in the image of God. We need to treat
(28:50):
everybody with love, with respect, and kindly and thoughtfully and truthfully. Regardless,
it doesn't matter. We're all made in His image, we're
all equal, so we need to do that, and we
focused we created something called the Beautiful Christian Community, a covenant,
and so we really did not we did not want
to fall prey to the divisiveness right that DEI brings,
(29:13):
and the really the focus on color and all these
other categories are destructive to unity, to love, to community.
So really focus on let's treat each other with love
and respect and with kindness and with humility. And we've
focused on that and it has transformed our campus in
some significant ways. And we're grateful to have been leading
the way in some ways in Michigan because now other
(29:36):
schools in Michigan are beginning to say, we need to
get away from this too. So we were ahead of
the curve, not a chip on our shoulder, which just
grateful that we did it because we knew there was
something bigger at stake, and that was modeling for our
students love and civility and the importance of true community
and true collaboration. So I'm grateful that we've moved past that.
I'm grateful to see that that other schools are beginning
(29:59):
to do that. And then throughout our country. We're having
a very important conversation to really close that thing down
and focus on the beauty of being a human being
and being in a great country and being in a
community working together to make it better. That to me
is a tremendous when we're seeing happen now throughout the
country justin.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
It takes the leadership to make that kind of especially
in the face of everything that we've seen over the
last few years. But that's why we appreciate, we appreciate
all that you're doing here in West Michigan. They have
a school like cornerstone right in our backyard.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
It is. It is pretty pretty incredible.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
President Doctor Yoursan Marino, Rihanna, thank you so much, sir
for being here with us again. And I got to
come back. I know it's moving that you probably got
some heavy lifting today. I've seeing some of those kids
and what they bring the school.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
I mean it.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
I'm going around to say hello to parents and students.
I always do that as a joy, to welcome them,
to pray for with many of them. Then we have
a beautible chapel service at four for all the famis
and students in which we pray together and hug each
other at the moving time for families because they know
it's a huge transition, so we want to encourage them
and support them. And Justin, we'd love to have you
on our campus and maybe do your show one time
(31:10):
for our campus. I think it'd be a phenomenal thing.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Hey, that'd be fantastic. I think we could probably figure
that out.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Thank you, sir. I appreciated doctor. We'll talk. We'll talk
about that. Great.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
Have a great day, Justin, Thanks so much.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
You got it. God blessed there we have it. Folks.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
You know, it's important to support those folks that are
doing such great work, particularly when they're right here in
our own backyard. More of it coming. I'm gonna get
you a chance to weigh in this morning as well.
Right here back. It's free for all Friday on West

News original story. Michigan House Republicans say the Department of
Natural Resources has turned into a bloated, unaccountable agency, and
they're preparing to cut deep into its budget. The Republicans
pointing to years of waste, fraud, and abuse inside the department.
(32:12):
Democrat Governor Whimer is going to have a very hard
time running on her economic record here in Michigan. Five
thousand jobs lost in July, the unemployment rate at five
point three percent, the third highest in the country. President
Trump visits the National Guard operation in Washington, d C.
Thanking members with the meal, burgers and pizza. The troops

Speaker 10 (32:35):
We're going back to Congress for some money. Then we're
gonna redo a lot of the pavement, a lot of

Speaker 3 (32:58):
I'll bet you've got a big week planned.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
It's just gonna be a nice chance of rain tomorrow,
but we're gonna be out and try to soak it.
Up all of the beautiful weather lately, I mean just
absolutely fantastic, and as the summer sort of slips away
in some ways, you may be thinking about some of
those regretsive things you haven't been able to get done,
or plans that you'd like to get done before the
end of summer, some of the things that you just
(33:23):
weren't able to do because physically you just don't have
it like you used to. And I know what you mean,
but I gotta tell you, I have been thoroughly impressed
with the folks at the Good Feet Store because I
used to have foot pain, back pain, leg pain, all
of the things that would essentially stop me dead in
my tracks. And this summer we have had no shortage
(33:45):
of adventure. And I just want the same for you.
Whether it's chasing your kids or your grandkids around all
summer long, throughout the fall and winter months too. You're
gonna be able to do all the things that you
love and be with the one that you love. Get
back into the game, no matter what it might be.
I know, pickleball is starting to be a big thing
(34:07):
people are starting and I still haven't gotten into anything
like that. I have pickleball, maybe maybe I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
We'll see. It's chasing my kids takes enough of my energy,
but I reach out to them this week.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
And in fact, you could walk into the Good Feed stores,
so if they can help you like they've helped me
in twenty eighth Street right in front of Costco, or
in Portage on West Ninje in front of Coles, you
come in experience the good feed feeling for yourself at
the Good Feed store. Tell them I sense yet. Of
course I want to hear from you. As soon as
you start to feel your best, I want to hear.
(34:43):
So please update me Justin at Justin Barklay dot com
because I always love hearing those stories. All right, Uh,
gotta the fastest set on radio, just flying right by, folks.
I mean, it's it's incredible. We've got an after show
that we've got coming up. News about the end alligator Alcatraz. Well,
I think that news of its demise may be premature,
(35:05):
but well we'll give you the latest on that. There
is a story that you've been following with this all week,
that illegal immigrant demand driving the truck there from India
here in the country illegally. The man driving the truck
has been sent back to Florida. He killed three that
family in the minivan in Florida. I think he might
(35:28):
have been back in California. He was in another state
at the time, obviously driving a truck. You're probably gonna
he's gonna be get all over. Can you imagine they
let the guy continue to drive that That is just
un unthinkable. But apparently he has been picked up and
I saw him, put him on an airplane and send
(35:51):
him back to the great state of Florida.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Folks.
Speaker 12 (35:53):
That's right, Turnpike crash on the Treasure Coast making headlines
across the country. Around one o'clock this afternoon, Florida's Lieutenant
governor took custody of the undocumented truck driver, Hargender Singh.
He is facing the hicculer homicide charges after making an
illegal U turn that killed three people.
Speaker 11 (36:11):
Now, this is the moment saying we've seen getting on
a plane with Lieutenant Governor j Collins. Unclear when him
be booked into the Saint Luca County jail. Both state
federal officials immediately said seeing in the US illegally. But
there are still questions over his declared political asylum status
and federal work permits he may have.
Speaker 12 (36:27):
Received, Caleb Califano joining us now live near the turnpike
with the message from the Lieutenant Governor.
Speaker 9 (36:33):
Caleb.
Speaker 13 (36:36):
Well, that plane is currently on its way back to Florida.
But as you said, before any of that happened, the
newly appointed Lieutenant Governor j Collins, he did hold a
press conference in Stockton, California today and he was highly
critical of California's state leadership. This video cas a Shurgender
singing being escorted onto a plane headed back to Florida.
(36:57):
Just before that, Florida Lieutenant Governor Jake Collins talking to
the press in Stockton, California, traveling across the country to
bring back Singh, who was accused of being behind the
wheel of a tractor trailer attempting an illegal U turn
on the Florida Turnpike on August twelfth. The incident led.
Speaker 14 (37:13):
To a crash and the death of three people in
another vehicle in Saint Lucie County. Today, Collins argued, saying
should have never been behind the wheel or in the
country in the first place.
Speaker 15 (37:22):
Well, we're here in California because when this tragic accident
happened and three Floridian lives were lost. He fled back
to California, where in twenty eighteen he illegally crossed the border,
came here and ended up getting a commercial driver's license.
Speaker 14 (37:36):
As CDL state leadership said federal authorities conducted language tests
on Singh after the crash and that they failed. Investigators
say during the test, he only provided correct answers to
two of the twelve verbal questions.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
That's incredible, and only.
Speaker 14 (37:49):
Accurately identifying one of four highway traffic signs.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Okay, you can't speak the language, it's one thing, But
if you can't read the signs, how are you supposed
to be. I mean, this is a just somebody driving
down the road in the grocery getter. This is a
guy that is driving down the road in a big
rig An eighteen wheeler and ends up killing three people needlessly.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
This is a bigger problem.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
In fact, we've got folks cracking down the Department of
Transportation looking at some of these folks. We've also got
the state Department revoking and saying that I'm gonna letting
more people into the country that are coming in on
these types of visas. But they're also looking into the
company that allowed this to happen. I believe they pulled
the license they could do that from a federal level.
(38:34):
That's that is all. Uh, that's all.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
It's all. That's fair game, and it ought to be.
It ought to be. We need you got.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
We've been in an era that's been devoid of consequences
for far too long. That's why I say the find
out here. At least you play stupid games, you're gonna
win stupid prizes. And that's where we are. In fact,
we got a new sheriff in town. One might make
the case. He was out on the making the rounds
yes yesterday in d C. Was they said earlier seven
(39:03):
days no homicides in Washington, d C. President Trump out
there with folks yesterday.
Speaker 11 (39:08):
Hello.
Speaker 10 (39:09):
It's a healthy, attractive looking group of people. It's good.
Speaker 12 (39:14):

and results have come out and it's like a different place,
it's like a different city.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
It's the capital.
Speaker 10 (39:29):
It's going to be the best in the world. We're
going to do what you're doing with law enforcement, and
very importantly also, we're going to physically do it. We're
going back to Congress for some money and we're gonna
redo a lot of the pavement, a lot of the medians,
a lot of the the graffiti's all coming off real fast.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
It's going to come cleaning up the se It's not
just a crime crackdown, but they're going to make it
a place to be proud to take your family again
and visit.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Boy, that training the slump one way to do it. Hey,
