Speaker 1 (00:01):
Live from Higher Top Monroe Center in downtown Grand Rapids.
We're talking about what matters most to you when West
Michigan joined the conversation. Now at six one six seven
seven four, twenty four twenty four. At six one six
seven seven four twenty four twenty four, it's West Michigan
Live with Justin Barklay on Wood Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Now.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Welcome, ed folks. The story is the matter most you'll
be talking about around the water cool the gooder table,
no matter where you are. Biggest stories and man uh
barely barely scratching the surface on some of these in
some places. We'll make sure that we give you the details,
the context and showing need develops so that you can
make the best decisions for you and your family. In fact,

(00:44):
there's something new gonna be on the ballot this this
next time around in twenty six there. Well, they're working
to get it on. They need your signatures and update
on one of the proposals you may not have heard
of yet coming up.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
A huge weather and traffic guess of the day. We
are talking about what matters most in West Michigan and beyond.
This is the Big three now see speak three.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Yeah, talking about these around water cool the dinner table,
no matter where you are, good friends Heartlett Home Mortgage
helping make it happen. Dave Gataway and the team really
want to buy refly home equity lot of credit. They've
been talking about moving these interest rates down to fed
hasket moving September. You're already starting to see movement in
mortgage rights because the companies are priming the pump for this.
It's time. If you're really thinking about wanting to buy

(01:35):
maybe refy home equity line of credit, now's the time.
Reach out HHM lending dot com. They're faster, better than
the big banks. They're gonna help you like they've helped
me in so many other folks that listen to this program.
We've said thousands each time we've done it. Number one
been great working with Hartlet Home Mortgage, Dave Cataway and
the team. The DJ is investigating got some fudge DC

(01:56):
crime numbers, that's what they're saying. Police taking a look
at what the reality really is inside the Justice Department.
They say, yes, we believe some of these numbers may
have been manipulated crime stats trying to make it look
safer in the city. The pro running out of the

(02:17):
US Attorney's office in DC. That's Judge Shanein following Trump's
claim they'd fake numbers out there, while Mayor Browser pointed
to a twenty seven percent drop in violent crime. One
MPD commander placed on Lee being accused of juicing the
stats after an internal review, So it is possible. We

(02:42):
also know that crime has plummeted just in the days
since Trump has decided to take charge in Washington, d C.
It's a horrific story, but that illegal alien trucker that
killed three given a dryver's license, a CDL that is

(03:04):
out of California with very lax standards. In fact, he
was never supposed to be in the country. He was
certainly never supposed to get a CDL. He tries to
pull a U turn in the middle of the Florida Highway,
killing three. Horrible story. It is absolutely night miarriish what
took place? New details now emerging that the man accused

(03:28):
of do well accused. We see it, We've got video,
We've saw it happen. He failed basic English and road
sign tests after the crash. Records show that Sing as
his last name, entered the US illegally, later obtained CDLs
from California and Washington and now faces vehicular homicide charges

(03:49):
as fed's probe the licensing issues and real just utter failures.
Who's to blame for this, Well, I think it's the
Biden administration letting the guy into the country. I think
it's Gavin Newsom out of California who has these loose
standards when it comes to the CDLs, particularly with these

(04:09):
into people in the trucking industry as a whole. You
know these people that they're driving for, they know who
the drivers are they all. By the way, you're talking
about a payday, it's coming. But even more so should
be accountability to make sure that this never never happens again.

(04:30):
How absolutely horrific. Think about this. This is happening probably
more than you realize it on the road. Who are
we driving with you and your family cruising down the highway? Wow,
they want to stay an extra prayer for protection.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
I'm record here.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
DHS by the way, is saying ice is taken. A
look at some things they can do. I'll talk about
that coming up. Speaking of illegal immigration, Democrats are losing
it today over this story. Well, they're thinking about painting
it black. The entire border wall. That is why, Well,
so it'll heat up. I just I'm sorry thinking about

(05:12):
this story and it it just makes me laugh the
more I hear, because again they're so upset about it,
but they're they're thinking about painting it black so that
it'll heat up in the summertime. And I don't know
if the Stones had this in mind at all, but
that that's apparently why, because it makes it harder to

(05:34):
climb over, you know, people trying to climb over the
top of it. It's too hot to hold on to folks,
speaking of witch, that's this show today, too hot to handle.
Here we go, join the program at any time, jump

(05:55):
on the phone line.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
You could do it now, Oh, justin Now at six
one six seven seven, we're twenty four to twenty four.
That's six one, six seven seven, twenty four to twenty four,
West Michigan Live with Justin Barclay on News Radio Wood
thirteen hundred and one oh six nine a FM.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
You can also use the iHeartRadio app that talkback feature
thanks to our good friends at MK the Funeral Homes.
It's a little microphone next to the play button. Hit
that and let us know, especially if you're on the road.
Maybe your driver in the trucking industry, and you've seen
this up close and personal. You've seen the lax standards
and how we've gotten to where we are right now.

(06:31):
In fact, let me just let me just give you
a little bit more of this. This is from the
Department of Transportation us DOT on this During FMCSA's interview
with the driver, that's basically, Florida State Police investigator Vaders
administered an English language proficiency assessment. In otherwise, Kim a

(06:57):
guy speak English. The man that's driving the truck, can
he speak English? Can he even speak English? And you think,
if you're gonna be driving these massive trucks up and
down the highways of America, you you probably ought to
learn the language. Might might even go as far as
to say, he if you're gonna move to America, you're

(07:17):
gonna come to America. Might might want to learn the language.
Michael over on the chat now by the way to
behindsens Laves stream, Facebook, Twitter, ex rumble Getter locals YouTube
uh saying look, you go to any truck stop right now,
you'll see just how bad it is this man. At

(07:38):
one point they said they did not return him to
India where he should have been, because he said he
was afraid to go back there. Well, this is like
a multi fastin harder failure on the entire system. One

(08:02):
might make the case. However, if you're looking at it
from a different angle, you may say, well, no, the
system is operating exactly how they set it up to.
This is the kind of thing that was bound to happen.
This is the kind of thing that they just don't
care whether it happens or not. By the way, this
type of thing, this is what Trump was fighting against.
This is what got him elected again. This is part

(08:29):
of the Court and Biden's America. This is an everyday issue,
so we can't even speak English to the Department of Transportation.
Goes on to say he failed the assessment, providing correct
responses to just two of twelve verbal questions and only

(08:51):
accurately identifying one of four highway traffic signs. I don't
know how this even. How does a guy even get
behind the wheel of a truck? How does he stay
behind the wheel of a truck? How does this something

(09:12):
like this not happen more often? If he can't read
speak the language, and if he can't read the signs
speaking and reading. Michael says in the chat here English
is a requirement to get a CDL. But clearly, comy Foy,
you didn't enforce the law. I just I this is

(09:37):
this is, this is the basics. This is the cost
of admission. You've got to be able to do these things.
You can't do these things. You can't be on the roads.
It's that simple. It's just playing. It's easy. This should
not be hard to understand. And every single one of
us is, including the good guys who are driving on

(09:59):
the roads millions of miles. I got a family member,
I don't know how many racked up millions of miles
on the road. It puts them just as much as
danger and at risk as it does you and me,
And I think about my little precious Cargo. I'm all
around now. I'm not a professional driver, but you got

(10:24):
enough Yahoo's an idiots out there. Maybe I'm one of them.
Every now, anyway took to worry about to begin with.
Will is on the line right now, the professional in
the in the field as well. Driver, Thank you so
much for calling and weigh and end on us. What
I mean, is this happening way more than we realize

(10:45):
and we're just finding out about it now.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Well, I've been driving for about twenty years now, and
in the last ten years it's really gone in the
crapper drivers are less considerate. I mean even at the
fuel plump, you see it. But going down the road
you got drivers that are just driving like they've stolen
the truck and cutting people off and no turn signals.

(11:12):
Some people, some drivers that drive team actually cut holes
in the bottom of their truck in the bunk and
use that for their facilities to take care of business
going down the road. So when you're getting sprayed with
something on the road, it might not be water.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
So you know there's that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
I can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
There are mechanics that won't work on certain trucks from
certain areas because all it is is a sewer underneath
there and it's it's sprays everywhere. So you know, it's
just it's nasty. And over the past ten years it
has gotten like ten times worse. And it's just the inconsideration.

(11:53):
It's you know, the low standards. Arkansas actually has a
that or they've any truck coming through the scalehouse if
they feel that maybe it's a foreigner or home around back.
If they can't pass the basic English test, they either
sit or they can leave the state, go in the

(12:16):
other direction and go all the way around the state
in order to deliver their load. You're not allowed through Arkansas.
You know, you may think that's I think that's in
the courts right now that you know as a saying
that they can't do that.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
So well, you you mentioned, you mentioned that, and that's
a good point because right now ICE is weighing tougher
checks at the way stations nationwide. That might be on
the agenda. That'll shut it down real quick. But then
what happens when when you can't get what you're asked
for we get delivered in time. They people are going
to ask questions about that. We got to do it

(12:51):
now to make sure the roads are Saif there, We'll
thank you for your call. You hang on, I got
something for you. Get his infant. We got some other
folks calling it. So you want to join the program.
You can't stick this one six seven seven four twenty
four twenty four new details. Want to get into even
more of this that we haven't really he just barely
scratching the surface on the story out of Florida. The
guy that killed three in the country illegally, couldn't speak English,

(13:13):
couldn't even read the road signs. That's how bad it is.
We'll talk to you, especially if you are a professional driver.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
Next hang out, folks.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Breaking down the story.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
It's West Michigan Live with Justin Barklay on News Radio
Wood thirteen hundred and one oh six nine a FM.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
Here are your headlines from the Midwesterner this Wednesday, August twentieth.
I'm Robin Hoffman. It's a Midwesterner. Dot News original story.
Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson melting down over President
Trump's push to eliminate mail in ballots. Various security cameras
here in Michigan and across the country have caught people
stuffing with mail in ballots in an attempt to change

(15:02):
the outcomes of various elections. Benson telling Fox to Detroit.

Speaker 7 (15:07):
Where did this come from? It came from Vladimir Putin?
I mean Donald Trump said specifically, Hey, I talked to
Putin yesterday and he said that we should get rid
of all male voting. So let's do it. I mean,
the idea that Putin and Trump should be Kaluk conspiring
about how to make voting more difficult in our states
is astounding to me.

Speaker 6 (15:27):
In other news, a Chinese student pleading no contest to
smuggling potentially dangerous materials into a lab at the University
of Michigan in ann Arbor. The student was detained at
Detroit Metropolitan Airport back in August. For these stories and more,
visit the Midwesterner at the Midwesterner dot news.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Mack on the phone talking about this man in the
country legally. By the way, did you want to talk
about insanity? This is COMMI Fournia the headline and actually
the screen grab on TV out there crash involving stock
driver sparks immigration debate, stock the d The guy was

(16:05):
in the country illegally, from India. It's not from Stockton,
for the love of Pete. Let's get it right. That's
why people are so fed up with all of this nonsense.
And by the way, it is killing people. Fred in
South Haven is on the line this morning. Fred, you're
up next. Thank you for calling in.

Speaker 8 (16:24):
Yeah, I've been a CDO for twenty twenty two years.
Accident free. I had to jump through hoops literally to
get my CDL, and there's a tight medical restriction. And
the problem is a nationwide shortage of truck drivers due
to various CDL or DOT regulation changes, And there are

(16:44):
some jackwagers on the road. I wouldn't believe some of
the stuff I've seen, and they just don't care. A
truck driver used to be considered a consummate professional and respected,
but there's a lot of non professional people out there.
Ever had a ticket or an accident or DOT violation
all my driving. So I take pride in what I do.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
What's the solution to this? I mean, it's a number
of things, I'm sure, but is there anything that stands
out more than anything else for you?

Speaker 8 (17:16):
I just think better scrutiny, better background checks and that
kind of thing. I just it just escapes me that
some of these people are getting behind the wheel of,
you know, an eighteen wheeler and hauling sixty seventy punds
down the road.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
What about you know, obviously, how do we get because
you mentioned the shortage, how do we get more qualified
and people who actually want to do this into that
line of work.

Speaker 8 (17:47):
Well, perhaps more vocational schools, maybe at the high school level,
that kind of thing and getting people into the system
gradually and so they're they're better trained and and they
get a love for the profession. It's an important profession.
I mean, you know, Tucker, stop the store shelves are there.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, you're absolutely right about that. We need you on
the roads. So when he keep you safe too, as
well as the other families. That's why we got to
boot some of these other folks off the roads.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
Hang on, got something for you.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Thank you for calling in.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
If you're a professional, you've been in the industry for years,
you're a driver. I want to hear from you, want
to get your perspective on this. I think it's it's
a conversation. It's not going to die down anytime soon,
and it is important. Three debt again in in Florida
because of all this. It's just a high profile the
latest of one of these stories and unfortunately maybe not
the last. But we've got time to move and it

(18:46):
sounds like a Trump administration Department of Transportation wants to
do that.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
More coming up, Hang FOI I like literally it's West
Michigan Live with Justin Barclay on News Radio Wood thirteen
hundred and one oh six nine after.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Whatever whatever happened to that guy, you know, the guy,
the Chinese national student arey U of M that voted
in the last election, I tell us that never happens.
Secretary of State Benson out there melting down today after
Trump said just a couple of days ago, hey, maybe
we ought to take another look at these mail in

(19:21):
ballots because that's where the opportunity for fraudust She talks
about making it easier to vote. I think really what
she means is easier to pull shenanigans. And the truth
is we ought to be able to protect this and
make sense of it all. I think that's a reasonable
thing to say. In fact, there's a group of folks
that are out there right now pushing for this last

(19:43):
I heard that student from The only reason we know
about it is he told us too. But remy came anything, Well,
yeah I voted. I probably shouldn't have done that. He's
fled the country, and so who knows whether we actually
ever get any real justice on that accounted. There was
no way to go in and find it in the
system where it was and pull it. But that's why

(20:06):
I think, particularly on a daylight today, this story and
the cause that they're pushing right now, Americans for citizen
voting here in Michigan is so important. Meghan Reckling joins
us right now. Meghan, thank you so much for taking
the time to be here with us.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Yeah, thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
So let's break it down. The thumbnail sketches A lot
of people probably don't know, but this is possible. In fact,
it is happening.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
We know.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
I just showed the news story from the AP if
you're not familiar, and it really is unfortunate. But my
question is if one guy voted, how many others are
we just don't know about. We got to have the
proper safe checks, the proper checks and balances in place
to make sure that this kind of thing could never happen.

(20:52):
There should never be even an appearance of impropriety in
this sacred duty we all take part in. So break
it down. What are you all doing, the folks behind
this initiative, and how could people who are listening say
I want to be a part of this help out.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Yeah, great question, Thank you so much.

Speaker 9 (21:12):
So.

Speaker 10 (21:13):
You know, back in twenty twenty three, when California courts
ruled that non citizens can vote in state and local elections.
It kind of really sent up alarm bells for states
across the country that we should take proactive steps to
make sure that our elections are safe from radical courts
doing the same thing. And so a group called Americans

(21:35):
for Citizen Only Voting really started working last cycle, and
they worked in nine different states to put constitutional amendments
on the ballot that they all passed successfully, all nine
last year. And then Michigan is one of the states
that this year, they came into Michigan and said, you know, hey, listen,

(21:56):
let's work together to secure the elections in Michigan. We
already know from the Chinese national that voted down at UFM.
But furthermore, Benson herself announced that over a dozen non
citizens voted last cycle. There's thirteen other people that are
under criminal investigation or criminal charges as non citizens for

(22:17):
voting in the twenty twenty four election. And so this
initiative kind of does three main things. It amends our
state constitution to clearly say non citizens cannot vote in
state and local elections, only citizens can. It forces the
Secretary of State to verify the citizenship of everybody on
our current voter roles and remove non citizens, and then

(22:39):
it requires a mandatory photo ID to vote, So that
kind of really helps us kind of go on offense
after a lot of years of playing defense with our elections,
putting some safeguards and guide rails up on the secretary
of State's office kind of as we move forward into
a new Secretary of State after twenty twenty six, we

(22:59):
have to collec over four hundred and forty seven valid
signatures for Michigan residents. And this isn't this is common sense,
This isn't contentious, This shouldn't be partisan. Democrats are trying
to make it partisan. But over eighty percent of Michigan
residents strongly support and believe that only citizens should be

(23:20):
voting in our elections. And we can tell you when
you're working an eighty twenty issue.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
We can see it.

Speaker 10 (23:25):
On the streets right Our circulators are out there right
now volunteering to collect signatures. They are running out of
petition sheets from the up down to Burian County Southeast Michigan.
People can't sign this fast enough. And again that's because
it's common sense. It's an eighty twenty common sense solution
to protect our elections. So we have a short time

(23:48):
window to collect the signatures. Benson and the Democrats are
working really hard against us, So we need every single
grassroots patriot here in Michigan to help us achieve our goal.
I know you put our website out there, but m
ichcov dot.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Com is our website. If every single grassroots patriot in
Michigan committed to collecting twenty five signatures, just twenty five,
we would hit our goal before the end of December.
And so that's a really achievable number. Everybody knows twenty
five people, friends, family, at church, you know, other community

(24:25):
or civic organizations they're a part of. So we're asking
that everybody kind of help us get to our goal.
We've had a lot of years of playing defense and
so it's kind of fun to finally be on offense
and watching the Democrats try to defend. They're really out
of touch position on this issue.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Yeah, I mean, it is. The party's gone, you know,
not to make this a partisan conversation, but it really has.
It's gone. It gone completely off the rails. In fact,
it's did the detriment. I think more and more people
are leaving the party because of that, and this is
just another one of those scenarios that I think gives
common sense. Look, we need to know who you are.

(25:02):
We need to know that you're a valid citizen here,
and you know photo ID. Why is that so hard?

Speaker 9 (25:08):
Dad?

Speaker 3 (25:08):
I've got to have photo ID for everything. Why wouldn't
I include that when it comes to making sure that,
again taking part in this sacred duty, you're one.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Hundred percent correct.

Speaker 10 (25:20):
We had a couple of people over the weekend to
ask us or ask circulators, how do you expect people
to go, you know, who can't afford anything, to go
get their free ID, And just kind of looked at
them and said, well, how do you expect them to
go get their free food from food stamps? Do you
think they don't ever leave their house? People are fully
capable to your point. You have to have a photo

(25:40):
ID for nearly You can't even adopt a pet in
Michigan without having a photo ID. And verifying your citizenship
is incredibly easy to do. Your driver's license to some
extent enhanced and real ID driver's license, you've verified your citizenships.
Democrats are trying all of the tricks of the trade

(26:01):
to gaslight people and scare them, saying this is going
to require that you take your passport to vote. That's
absolute poppycock. There's no way this is going to require
people to take their passport to vote. You're going to
have your citizenship verified one time. It'll be in the
qualified voter file that you're a verified citizen, and then.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
You're done and you move on.

Speaker 10 (26:24):
And really it should happen when you register to vote anyways,
And that's what went sideways down at ann Arbor, down
at U of them. They did not verify his citizenship.
They knew he was a resident, and that's how he
was allowed on our voter rolls. And we've never gotten
a clear answer. I still think Benson and her crew
sat around a table saying, well, we can't tell him

(26:45):
zero anymore, but what number can we tell them that
isn't insane? So they came up with the number fifteen.
Let's just tell him fifteen people voted. But I'm convinced
it's a lot more than that.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
When you talk to election officials, how would they even know?
I think it's the tougher, the tougher question, how would
you even know?

Speaker 4 (27:04):
And correct?

Speaker 3 (27:05):
It's just there's an easy solution to this, so we
might as well put it so what people, I'm getting
inundated right now with more than anything else. Lots of questions.
And by the way, if you if you want some
love the use of the word poppycock, which I think
is a good way to describe.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
But I was live on the air and I didn't
want you to get a fine.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
I think we still I think that on that word's acceptable,
but we'll go with that. Hey, look, by the way,
people want to know how do I sign this? Where
do I go? What do I do to make sure?
Because you said how many signatures do you have to have? Again,
you got to have a lot.

Speaker 10 (27:41):
So we got to have four hundred and forty seven
thousand valid signatures. So our goal is to collect six
hundred and fifty so that Benson and the Democrats can't
play games with certifying this.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
It cannot be a digital.

Speaker 10 (27:54):
Signature like this isn't one of the online you get
to click and type in your name. You have to
actually sign it in person. We do have people circulating
all over Michigan. So here's what you can do. If
you want to sign yourself. Go to the website mchcov
dot com and click on the volunteer link. There is
a place to sign up for petitions on the website,

(28:18):
and then you can tell us how many sheets you want.
So yep, if you click on that volunteer link right there,
fill out your information and we will mail you a petition.
Even if it's just you, even if only you want
to sign, we will mail you a petition sheet that
you can sign and mail back to us with directions.
If you're willing to help us get at least twenty
five signatures, we can send you a couple of sheets.

(28:40):
We do have some really cool gear there Citizens for
only Voting T shirts that if you collect at least
fifty signatures you're going to get a free T shirts.
We have cool red hats that say make Elections Secure
again that if you turn in five hundred volunteer signatures,
you're going to get a hat. So we've got some
incentives to help people. We have already collected thousands of

(29:02):
signatures just in the two and a half weeks that
we've been in the field with only volunteer circulators, so
we can get there. I'm really excited about the opportunity.
I've worked on initiatives more combating the progressive ones, and
this is the first time where we as conservatives can

(29:24):
really go on offense and put some guardrails on these
crazy ballot proposals they've passed the last couple of cycles
that have just shattered the integrity of our elections.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
But we just can't do it without the help.

Speaker 10 (29:37):
We have to have grassroots people from all over Michigan
go to the website and sign up to get their
petition kit and then help us collect petitions and most importantly,
get those turned in as fast as possible.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Timing is key.

Speaker 10 (29:50):
We have to be the first petition in the door
because if we're not, if we're last, Benson is going
to play games and try to keep this off the ballot.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
So there's a about.

Speaker 10 (30:00):
Five to six other liberal initiatives out there right now
that people should avoid signing, but we have to beat
them in the door. We have to collect our signatures
first because that will force Benson to certify our signatures
for the ballot before she gets to their signatures.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Wow. Timing is of the essence. It sounds like misshcov
dot com, m ichcov dot com, Megan Wreckling with the
story today and we would love to have you back,
come back, give us some updates on this where folks
can get these petitions, get them signed, and get them
out so we can get this done.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Would love to do that anytime.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Thank you, Megans as I was a mishcov dot com
is the website, Megan Wreckling. It's big, folks. We don't
fix this. It doesn't matter what President Trump does here
or what happens in the next year or so in
our elections. If we don't fix this, this is it's
easy to turn all of this stuff around. These these

(31:00):
elections have consequences, as folks are seeing again, we are
in squarely in that find out era. Lots of folks
are finding out as a President Trump is trying to
turn things around right out back with more. In fact,
we got folks on the line. I talked to folks
in a trucking industry that still have comments on this
guy the story out of Florida to get to that

(31:21):
and more after this taking down the story.

Here are your headlines from the Midwestern or this Wednesday,
August twentieth, I'm Robin Poffman.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
So I'm going to stand with the voters on this one,
not with Vladimir Putin, and protect our citizen's right to
vote by mail because we know it's a secure convenience.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
That all voters embrace.

Speaker 6 (31:44):
Democrats here in Michigan up to the same old tricks.
Michigan Secretary of State Democrat Jocelyn Benson melting down over
President Trump's push to eliminate mail in ballots. Security cameras
here in Michigan and across the country have caught cheaters
over the year stuffing ballot boxes. Benson on Fox to Detroit.

Speaker 7 (32:03):
Where did this come from? It came from Vladimir Putin?
I mean Donald Trump said specifically, Hey, I talked to
Putin yesterday, and he said that we should get rid
of all male voting. So let's do it. I mean,
the idea that Putin and Trump should be kaluk conspiring
about how to make voting more difficult in our states
is astounding to me. A American president conspiring with a

(32:26):
Russian dictator on how our elections should work in Michigan
and throughout our country.

Speaker 6 (32:32):
In other news, the Chinese student detained over smuggling potentially
dangerous material from China into Detroit Metropolitan Airport, pleading no
contest to the charges, including lying to the Feds about
what he was up to. The student was attempting to
get the material into a lab where he worked at
the University of Michigan and Nann Arbor. For these stories

and more, visit the Midwesterner at the Midwesterner.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
No Way and if you'd like as well, got a
couple of folks go to talk about the truck story.
We want to get into that details from folks behind
the wheel, behind the scenes. They've been it, they've seen it,
they've done it for years. They got the t shirt
and even burned it at some point. Probably you know,
we're gonna get some of the the scoop on that story.
That illegal immigrant that's responsible for the death of three

(33:16):
in Florida that while you turney did on a highway
just incomprehensible. Now we find out the guy can't speak
English and couldn't even read road signs. More on that
coming out first. The stock market this morning got a
little bit of a mixed bag red and green on
the screen. Nothing too wild, mostly unchained for getting some

You're on West Michigan Live.

Speaker 9 (34:35):
Hey, how you doing this morning?

Speaker 3 (34:37):
Fantastic? Thank you for your update and your heads your
head's up on the expertise. It sounds like you've been
around the block. You've got a few miles under your belt.

Speaker 9 (34:46):
Yeah, I've been doing this now for thirty eight years.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Wow, what do you make about this store?

Speaker 9 (34:52):
Both in the spectrum, you know, I've owned them, I
go for companies, and the big issue out here in
the industry. For the past five or eight years, the
industry basically tanked because you got the foreigners coming in
buying brand new trucks and trailers. As say a company
pays three dollars a mile, they're coming in for about

(35:14):
ten and burying the system. You know.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
One of the things I've heard, Bob, is that they
get teams of drivers. These guys they live in these trucks,
and what they're do is just drive back and forth NonStop.
The truck never stops moving. They'll take turns to the
call before they says, some of them cut holes in
the bottom of the floor boards. They're do what to
go to the bathroom. They never have to stop. It's

(35:40):
it's nuts.

Speaker 9 (35:40):
Because like three or four of them. We'll buy a
truck together, and we're talking about the foreigners. They'll cut
a hole on the floor of the cab. Instead of
pulling into a rest area, they just use the hole
of the bathroom and keep o it on moving. And
or or you got the new kids. They're getting trained

(36:04):
for like two weeks and then they turn them loose
on the road like here's a truck, here's a key,
goad Did New York have fun? And then I'm sure
you've seen all these bad accidents been happening. Yeah, oh yeah,
you know, I don't. These guys aren't ready.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
What's flying at you coming down the road out of
the floorboard of that cabs is the least of your
worries when you got when you got these guys making
U turns in the middle of the highway. I mean
that look watching that minivent, thinking of myself. I could
have been you know, I could have been my family.
But I just I just can't imagine.

Speaker 9 (36:39):
It.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Sounds like Department of Transportation ICE is gonna get involved.
They're gonna they're gonna start go onto these way stations
and maybe maybe conducting some checks and things there. Uh,
it's really so it's gotta happen. I know Trump's gonna
take this seriously.

Speaker 9 (36:56):
Behind Trump and ICE, you know, I think, uh, they
have their work cut off for him. There's a lot
of them mirror.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Yeah, I can't, I can't even imagine. Uh, Bob, thank
you for taking the time the way I appreciate you
this morning. All right, I got a couple of quick
seconds left. Uh oh, get Mike's info if we could
still get a chance to grab him there or Bob,
Bob's info. Got it Mike in Portland? Now, Mike got
a couple of quick seconds. Wanted to give you a
chance to weigh in thirty seconds.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Here, Okay, I just I grove for forty three years
for large retailer and Grand Rapids Food, and I seen
a guy come out of the trailer.

Speaker 9 (37:29):
It's not mine, not it was it.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Over the roader come pull his trailer out of the yard,
pulled one hundred yards because he didn't have his break
handles hooked up.

Speaker 8 (37:37):
And I went up to him and.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Try to tell me that I don't want to speak English,
he says. Then I pointed at that good line, and
I thought after that, I thought I got to start
watching the road.

Speaker 9 (37:47):
These guys.

Speaker 8 (37:47):
How the heck they even get me?

Speaker 2 (37:48):
They can't even drive a truck, back it up or
puck it up right anyway.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
It's increasing. Thank you for your call I'm going to
give you something. But all the guys that called in
your service on the road, we appreciate you doing that.
Thank you so much. You know, that's the thing about folks.
If they're not driving, you're not eating. So we take
that very seriously, but safety as well, and I know
for their sake two they're just as much on board
with this. All right, this story continues. We'll dive more

(38:15):
into it as the details continue to come out. We
got an after show to get to. We'll do just
that after this. Make it a great one, folks, justin
barkleay dot com for all the stories that are stacked
at up PoTA.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
Probably that name that kingdom. Come that will be done
on our fasts and give us daily redcause our.
