Speaker 1 (00:00):
Former Michigan gop CO chair Burnett Smith saying I'm gonna
throw my hat in the ring for Senate and a
good friend, familiar face and name you probably you probably
heard her of even on the program before. Berne, thank
you so much for joining it. We appreciate you being
here with us today.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Thank you for having me, Justin. It's a pleasure.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
So let's start, uh, you know, adding your hat into
the race. Why did you decide, I mean, this is
a pretty big deal. You decided, Okay, I'm I'm co
chair of the party. Here state why this must have
been a big you know, it must have been a
big epiphany or something to really to get you to say,
I'm gonna I'm stepping down here and feel called to
run in this direction.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yes, you know, Justin, it is so important, It is
so vital, you know, Michigan. I think about this because
Michigan families they deserve a voice. They deserve a voice
in Washington. But the voice they deserve is one who
would defend faith, protect families, and restore are God given freedom.
I am running, Justine, to truly return power back to

(01:05):
the people.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Give us an example what that looks like. Because you know,
I understand what you're saying. You know, obviously people feel
like maybe they have lost a little power, maybe they
have lost a little significance or influence. What would you
like to see happen?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Well, they have think about this and looks think about
our constitution. What I send, we need to go back
just into the ABC's of our constitution. It is so important.
And I when I say a accountability government must answer
to the people, not to special interest groups or political insiders.

(01:43):
When I say, b policies must support families, workers, and
communities without tipping power towards government outreach. When I say,
see the constitution. The Constitution provides the godrails for freedom,
for security and prosperity. Returning it it's so important to
return it path and us going forward. We have lost

(02:07):
our way. And that's exactly why we see what's happening
in our country today. Because so many people they don't
even know what the constitution says. The young people do
not know what So many of them do not know
what the constitutions say. Others may have known it, but
they've forgotten it. Because on purpose, what we're seeing happen
in our society, they're literally trying to erase our history.

(02:29):
And that's why many of the schools they don't have
history classes. I had civic classes. We need to restore
the ABC's of our constitutions back in our world today
and move forward.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You know, obviously you've seen the latest here, most recently
with Senator Alyssa Slockin, and you know the comments she's
come out and made with the Seditious six and these
other Democrats. You're just talking about the constitution in itself here,
and this is troublesome for a lot of people. I

(03:03):
mean it really it puts America in a bad light.
And I think it I think it's going to get
somebody killed, this type of talk about not FALSEI following
orders the commander in chief and things like that. But
it's an example of how bad things have gotten with
the Democrats.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
You know, and not only the Democrats, Justine. You know,
it's humanity. And see when we lose our way when
we take God out of our country, which our forefathers were.
This country was built on Judaya Christian value. When you
take morality out of a country, you're going to get
chaos like we're seen, and we're going to get all
the confusion, the violence, the destruction of humanity. It's because

(03:42):
we've taken away the morality that God requires for all
of us to walk in. So what do we expect?
So I'm wanting to bring that back to remind people,
to educate them, to motivate them, and to demonstrate what
that really looks like. And it's it's high time for
us to do it now. We don't have time. And
that's one of the reasons why I've put my name

(04:02):
in the hat to run for US Senate because I
know that I will go to Washington, I will not compromise,
I will speak truth to power, and I will help
the citizens of Michigan and our government get back on
tracks the way our forefathers intended for it to be.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Bernard at Spencer, this is right now, she's running for
Senate here in Michigan. What are you hearing when you're
on the You know you're you're having these conversations with people,
I mean even before you you were on the trail.
You've been involved with the Republicans here in Michigan for
a long time. But what are you hearing right now
on the ground for about what matters most to people?

(04:40):
What people are really concerned about.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Well, first of all, Justin, people have lost faith in government.
They've lost faith and politicians. They don't know who to trust,
and that is so important that we bring trust back.
If we don't have trust, people cannot trust us to
make can't trust the government. What do we have? That's
the number one thing people they don't trust and we

(05:05):
need to bring trust back. How do we do that?
The ABC accountability is so important that we understand that
we have to have the accountability to bring this back.
It's so important that we do this. And also I'm
hearing people our families are starving, are people are hungry,
So we need to also address that there's so many things.

(05:26):
People are losing their jobs. It's so it's so much justin.
I don't know where you want me to start, but
there's so many things that I can talk about, but
I know that we don't have time today to talk
about all that. I can share why I'm running for
US Senate. But if you go to my website, they
will get a lot and that's my landing page. But
the full website is coming out in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Give us stay connected. What is that?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Bernadette Smith for Senate. Missus Smith goes to Washington.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
I like that. Bernadette Smith for Senate? Is it number
four or spell out com o r FO r okay,
Bernadette Smith for Senate dot com if you want to
go check that out, and of course we'll put it
up in the in the stack as well. I'm going
to ask you about the Republican field so far. So
there are a couple other candidates. One is is Mike Rogers,

(06:21):
who the President has endorsed. Now, I know that you
have a relationship there, and obviously you hadn't announced by
the time that the President had endorsed. What's your take
on that endorsement and what what you might do going
forward to let people know where you stand.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Right, you know, you're you're so correct about the president
did not know I was running at that time that
you know, I just threw my head in the rain
on last week. But I want to say this, I
still admire a president. He's done such a great job
and still, you know, we need to continue to pray
for him because you know, he's doing a good job
and we understand, you know, stand with him. But I

(07:00):
want to say this, if you were to ask our
president this question on Bernadette Smith is running. I'm just
sure that our president would say, I am extremely excited
that she is exercising her freedom as an American citizen
to run.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Fantastic Bernadette Smith Force Senate dot Com. Now anything else
before we go, we got to make sure that we
cover because I know you're going to be here and there,
probably out meeting people, talking to folks, events that you
may want to share with folks that you're going to
be out and out. I know the announcement just came

(07:37):
kind of quickly here, but what should folks keep in mind?

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Sure, I'm going to say this too, justin people ask me.
Some people have asked me, you know what makes you
different from Mike Rodgers? And you know, I really would
like to say this. My focus is not on my
differences with mister Rogers. My focus is on what I
will bring and help the citizens of Michigan. And that's
going forward. That's what That's what my focus is because

(08:02):
I know that I can truly help them. I have
the experience, i have the background, and I'm ready to
move forward into Washington. I will be in here on
I'm put hereon on December six, I will be speaking
to that body of audience. I'm also attending certain different
parades and so forth. So I'm getting my schedule right now.
My assistant and my team they're working on it. But

(08:25):
I'm very excited to be on the campaign trail, bringing
and restoring truth to our constituents. And I do want
to say this you said earlier, and it's so true.
I've been on the campaying trail. I mean, can not
campaign trail, but just on throughout Michigan for decades, right,
and I on my own dollar. I did it because
why did I do this on my own dollar for

(08:46):
five years and beyond? You know, I mean, I'm going
across the state of Michigan. It's because I care for
the citizens of Michigan. I believe it's so important that
they be educated. It's so important that they demonstrate that
we dim straight what it looks like, you know, to
be a conservative Christian And what does that mean conservativesm
me just following our laws. It's not it's following what

(09:10):
our forefathers has placed in order. And as we follow that,
justin we'll be all right. The bottom line is they're
trying to destroy it and it's not all. It's just humanity.
They need help and I'm here to help humanity. And
that's all people in the state of Michigan.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Well, Bernadette Smith running for Senate here in Michigan. Bernadette
Smith for US Senate dot Com, the website, Bernadette Smith
for US Senate. And we appreciate you taking the time. Bernette,
and we go way back, and obviously folks have heard
you on the program before as well. Tell tell your
husband Phil we said hi, and give him, give him
our best.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I would do that. Thank you so much for having
me justin you got it.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
We'll have you back on, come back on. Let us
know updates as they come in. We appreciate you and
happy Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Oh thank you you as well. Yeah, bless your

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
