Speaker 1 (00:00):
But it is, it really is, the tragic and unnecessary deaths.
Some of the family has been impacted by this, the
Finnel deaths in this country. What it is, where it's
coming from, and why it's such a problem. Fact. There's
a roundtable happening a little bit later on today. Mike Rogers,

(00:23):
obviously running for Senate here in Michigan, will hold in
Rochester Hills with a group, the Fentanyl Fathers, and one
of those folks, one of the co founders Finnal Fathers,
is with us now, Greg Swan, joins us to talk
about this very important and again completely unnecessary issue that

(00:44):
we must face. Thank you for taking the time to
be here with us today.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Greg, pleasure to meet you justin. In my opinion, you've
got a great show.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Oh, thank you, sir. I appreciate that Drew is your
son and lost Drew in twenty thirteen to fellow, would
you tell us about Drew?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yeah, Drew was great and he was he was ridiculous.
He had a one sixty IQ which is too below heinstein.
He was a state champion as a freshman, MVP of
his tennis team as a freshman. Just a funny guy,
good looking he was an Abercrombie national model and he
was it was not fair to be Drew Swann. But
he ended up taking an unprescribed pill that killed him.

(01:28):
And it was it was a terrible call that I
got in the middle of the night from my son Jack,
you know, daddy city. I was sleeping and when he
asked me to sit down again, I shock started going
over to me and he said, Drew's dead, and it
just it blew my mind what that bullet takes out,
not only the child, both parents generally are not too

(01:49):
good after that, and so we we eventually ran. I
talked to my wife and running for Congress. Twenty eighteen,
long story, six billion dollars was appropriated for or the
opioid budget. At that point it got into the State
of the Union address. I thought, we've done our job.
But in twenty nineteen, sentinel deaks really took off like

(02:09):
a hockey stick. And since twenty twenty one, since the
new administration's coming in the state of Michigan, there have
been ten thousand young people dying from FENTONYL have died
from FENTONL in Michigan. It's a real status. About three
thousand a year a little under, a little over, and
when you talk about it, not getting the type of

(02:30):
attention to put you on the stop. But I invite
you to come up with a higher death total in
some of the category.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
You can't. I just it's unimaginable. And you don't hear
about it on the news when these stories happen, and
they are absolutely tragic because they're taking in your son's case,
they're robbing us of our future, some of these bright
young kids. And again it's a national track, one hundred.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
And fourteen thousand. Last year, it's another record, and they're
you know, just like you hear gas prices might be
going down. Oh it might be an election year. It's
really not true about Sentinel. It's at an all time high.
It doesn't show up the Sentinel. It shows up as percocet, xanax,
OxyContin and adderall. And kids think they're smarter than their parents,

(03:26):
and they are technically, and they order this stuff up
on Snapchat. They tell their folks, don't worry about a
mom and dad stan your lane watching all in the family.
I'll get the door. It's door dash, they're drugs. It's
name the drugs they ordered. And they wake up with Colti.
Their parents find them, and you know, the nightmare starts
all over again. We I don't know if you caught

(03:46):
the RNC. There's a yell named and Fundner who spoke
at it. She's a brieve mom. She's part of our group.
What we were a national group. But we're here. We're
based here in Michigan, and we're like the Paul Review.
We're running out there to schools. We're systematically doing it
because there's so many believe parents. With half a million
Americans dead since twenty nineteen. By my math, that's a

(04:09):
million berieved parents. So that's forty parents for every school.
Most of them want their kids' life to still count.
Otherwise they're just a mess. So you get. We call
it the sixth stage of purpose, going into schools telling
the story. We have a DEA approved and that's all
partnered program, and we give a forty five minute assembly
and these those kids walk out of there more likely

(04:31):
to drink gasoline than they go near an unprescribed build.
They're like, Okay, I'm going to go out of this
world a lot of different ways, but not that way.
And we give them the heads up that this the
fentanyl is stuffed into these pills available anywhere on social media.
It's too late to complain about China or the cartels,
which is where it's coming from. It's here, and even
before Inauguration Day, there's going to be another fifty thousand

(04:54):
dead Americans. So we want to be ubiquitous across the
United States and stop this plague.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Part of this to me is, look, one of the
reasons why I never touched anything when I was a kid,
I'll be honest with you, is that my parents scared
the ever living you know what out of me, and
I just I didn't wouldn't want to touch anything. And
I don't know, war on drugs and all of that stuff.
I guess I kind of grew up in that era.
So I remember seeing some of the things that were

(05:23):
on television and hearing people talk about. But the guess
that would be the first step in this is to
make sure that the people are sharing these stories. I
guess it's too too much of a political hot potato
to cover to talk about. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Why it used to be. It used to be until
the State of the Union address two years ago, where
a Fentyl father was asked to stand up if you
said sentinel, you were whistleblowing for pointing a finger at
a particular party who is more lax on the borders,
and that stuff got censored. So now it's a bipartisan issue.

(05:59):
Because I'll go into a high school. We were in
one yesterday. You raise hands. Out of a thousand kids,
there's probably fifteen sixteen that have lost somebody to fentanyl,
and that family member affects thirty six other people. But
it is, it is a hot potato. But right now
the outcry is too big. And once it went over
one hundred thousand, like three and a half years ago,

(06:20):
per year, they couldn't hide the bodies anymore. And you know,
we have their receipts. Are dead kids. It's sorry to
say that, but the DEA will tell you that if
they go in and talk about fentanyl, they're just a
cop with a deck lecturing kids about drugs, which is
a cliche they can barely afford to pay attention to.
When we go in, we just start out, We're like,

(06:41):
we could look like Ward Cleaver to these guys, and
they could be like looking at their cell phones and
chatting at each other. And when as soon as we
say Hey, we're here on a sad mission. Thanks for
coming in. We lost our I lost my son to this.
It's a buzzwrecker for sure. But boys at an attention getter,
they quiet down, they lock in, and we have a
program that's very engaging and we get them the education

(07:03):
they need. We're just like Paul Revere telling them, sentinels
coming for everyone and anyone, and you'd better be wi
Suitula Einstein's and don't take this stuff because you will
wreck a lot of people's lives.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
We're talking with Greg Swan right now. He's one of
the co founders of the group Fineral Fathers out of
Michigan here and of course doing this work throughout the country.
But there'll be a roundtable today Rochester Hills and of
course Mike Rogers running for sidate, discussing this major issue
that isn't getting the coverage, It isn't getting the focus
that it deserves. So you just mentioned the border, you

(07:36):
mentioned China. These are all important things, but also I
guess the piece that really is equally important is the
educational piece of the fact that people need to know what's
going on, they need to be aware. So what else
I mean, am I missing anything here. What needs to
happen to make sure that we don't lose our future?

Speaker 2 (07:58):
We don't lose I appreciate you asking that question. Not
enough people ask that question. We have to get this
information immediately to every student. So like in the state
of Michigan, we submitted something called the Sentinel Fathers and
Mothers Act mandating this Sentinel awareness so that kids really

(08:19):
are aware that if they order an unprescribed bill, if
it doesn't have their name on it, that's how you
know it's fake. Eight and ten of them will kill
you Dad, like Ray Gill's bugs. They can't take that.
That is the nut of the information you have to
get kids. It's also being laced into marijuana. You got
to be very very careful. You know. Madonna went down
last year. She was vived by Narcan. She's not saying

(08:40):
what she had, but she had an opiate in her system,
and I suspect personally it could have been if it
was an illicit cocaine with Sentinel and it. I hope
I don't hear from her camp, but something caused her
to go down. Prince There's a lot of famous people
that have gone down to it. So we have to
get let the kids know that above my page grad
would be like taking out the cartels on the border.

(09:03):
Telling President she that curbing fenconyl to the United States
is not a solution. Bro, You've got to stop it
one hundred percent. They have the death penalty over there
for drug dealers, but I've seen shops in China that
sell it. In Shanghai. They're selling Sentinel to Western customers,
and that's to the cartels, and they press that stuff.

(09:25):
They run it up into the United States through mules,
and it is really ubiquitous because it's really easy to move,
so it's too late to pull it off the street.
We have to just let people know this is not
an option. There's a lot of mental health solutions and
a lot of other lanes for people to fill. We're
here to make sure that they don't end up debt

(09:46):
in the morning by taking an unprescribed pill or anything
that is sold on the street. It's extremely dangerous and deadly,
and the man with an experience is never at the
mercy of a person with an argument. We have an experience.
We lost our kids. Nobody argues with this and they're like, Okay,
I got it. It's very healthy. Sentinal Fathers dot Org

(10:07):
is our organization. It's the five oh one C three.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
How did you decide? Because as a dad, I got
two little girls and I can't imagine the world that
they're going to grow up. And they're still pretty young yet,
but I can't imagine going through such a loss like this.
You're not supposed to have to bury your own child.
How did you find that that moment that shifted, that
gave you the purpose to fight for other people's kids.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
You must be in radio because you really ask great questions.
You know, I had to do it. I was compelled
to do it just for my own mental health. And
I find it's a real ministry to other brief parents
that are, you know, done. Their relatives have shunned them
because they don't want to hear about it anymore. We
know you lost your kids, get over it, and eventually
they're lost. There's no getting over it. When you say

(10:58):
you can't imagine, you got that right, But I mean
I hurt in places I didn't know I had places
at Drew's funeral. But what the tipping point for me
was to be transparent. When Terry Lake lost the governorship
of Arizona. I saw this tweet or a truth social

(11:21):
post from the forum President Trump, and he said, Wow,
Kerry Lake just had the election stolen from her too.
Things are really bad out there, and that's a direct one.
I remember thinking, Greg, you're an idiot. You're pulling for
a politician to steal the border. You're still doing nothing.
You're responsible for doing something. You got to go warn

(11:42):
these kids. So I got out and we started. We
formed Feneral Files. I had a like minded guy, J P.
McCarthy's son formed it with me. His name is James McCarthy.
My son's the grandson of Bill Bonds. You know, it
doesn't matter how famous you are, you have to We
got together as brief parents and we said, what can

(12:02):
we do. Let's do something big. Jamie was in advertising,
he's done six Super Bowl commercials. We've got really good
graphics and videos that we showed during our show Premium Quality.
And we started networking and we were very active in
eleven states. We want to go into fifty. We went like,
I'll give you one example. We went down to Miami

(12:23):
Dade last year and we did all sixty two schools there.
We're looking for people to open up schools for us.
That's the challenge. A lot of people are like, oh,
we don't have a drug problem here, Yeah, you do.
But anyway, we went down to Miami Dade at all
sixty two schools. The death total in Miami Dade year
over year decreased by three hundred and fifty. Not getting
a thank you letter from any of the parents that

(12:45):
we saved them. The lifetime sentence of grief, but it
certainly feels good. I can tell you if I had
my son not died, those three hundred and fifty people
would have And it gives me a lot of satisfaction
in terms of knowing that his life still counts and
that there's purpose in what's going on. Like I said,

(13:06):
we call it the sixth stage of grief. And would
I like to have Drew back and have those three
hundred and fifty kids be dead? You know, I'm on
the fence about that, but a real if I were
really the answer, I say no, I'll leave him in
heaven and we'll go on with this, you know, reluctant
mission that we must do. We're compelled to do it.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
Well in such a such a dark moment in time,
in this in this nation's history, the trajectory that we're
on right now, I can tell you that's a little
bit of hope and a little bit of encouragement, some
inspiration for the rest of us to stand up, find
that place wherever we're at right now and take some ground,
because I know that that's the antidote, it sounds like
to everything else that we're facing right now. Greg, thank

(13:49):
you for doing everything you're doing. Thank you for being
in the fight. If people want to help, maybe they
listen to this and think I really resonated. Maybe they've
had a loss in their family, somebody close to them.
What can they do to help out?

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Okay, you get the A plus for the three best
questions I've ever been asked, And there's there's the best
one up Fentonalfathers dot org has a donate button on it,
and you know, if you open donate to us, we
we open up schools, we go in We're active all
over the places, particularly in Michigan, and so one way

(14:23):
you can do is donate. Another way, if you have
a relationship with a school supervisor or teacher or principal,
say hey, we need to get this sentinel. Father's done
at our school and just reach out to our guy,
Mike at Fentonalfathers dot org. I'm Greg at Sentinalfathers dot org.
But Mike books us and we'll come in and we'll
do that school forty five minutes and we'll leave them

(14:46):
fentonal free, Fentel certified, and those kids will be safe.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Fantastic. Well, let us know. Please please stay in touch, Greg.
I'd love to continue to follow you and of course
if we can help in any way, more than more
than happy to do that. Thank you for all that
you're doing. And of course that roundtable happening today with
Mike Rogers. Uh, this is a great time in our
election to make sure that we we we elect the

(15:11):
right people that are going to take action and and
and get this thing done because again it's all too
this is happening all too often and it's completely unnecessary.
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Justin if I may, we're meeting at Rebecca Keiesling's house.
She lost both her sons in the same day to fentanel.
I'm glad Mike's coming out. It's going to be a
good roundtable.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Fantastic. Thank you, Greg, appreciate you, Thank you, sir. God blessed.
There you go. Folks. Uh, the website again is fintonalfathers
