Speaker 1 (00:02):
At six oh seven. Good morning, Detroit. Today. It's not
Justin Barclay, my buddy, my friend, my pal. Justin Barclay
is taking care of some family business for a couple
of days. I am here, Mike Opelka, I've been here before.
You guys know me. I hope you know me. I'm here,
Aiden's here. We will deliver the fine quality of program
(00:26):
that you are used to receiving here on Superstation nine. Ten. Am. Boy,
oh boy, what a consequential week it has been already,
And yes we still have today and tomorrow to get
through the work week. But the closer we get to
this election, the faster things seem to be moving. We
(00:48):
are thirty three days, seventeen hours and fifty two minutes
away from election day officially starting. But who's counting? Really?
Who is counting? I am? And I say this with
only a little bit of exaggeration, although it's not hyperbole,
(01:09):
as some people have said to me. This is the
single most important election of our lifetimes. This is the
most important election you will ever participate in your life
until the next one. And I don't I'm not making
light of it, but this is one for all the marvels.
If you're a believer in the concept of America and
(01:31):
the constitutional republic that is America, in the great experiment
in freedom and democracy. I know we're a republic or
not a democracy, but it is a democratic republic. This
is critical, This is crucial, and so as we look
at where we are today, I was going over the
(01:53):
polls this morning, and I look at all kinds of
puls I look at the election betting odds that Johnston
Ascio has put together. I look at the PolitiFact and
Politico pulling the conglomerates five thirty eight from Nate Silver.
But the one that I watch, especially for swing states
(02:15):
like here in Michigan, is the Trafalgar Group. And Trafalgar,
which I think is really really reliable, still has donk
Trump in the lead over Kamala Harris forty six point
nine percent to forty four point seven percent, with three
and a half percent going to other. Who's ever voting
(02:38):
for other? I want to talk to you, and still
four point nine percent undecided? How are you undecided? How
are you undecided? I think we may know people that
just answer undecided when pollsters call or stop them just
because they're thinking I don't need to mess with this.
I don't need this hassle. So yeah, here we are
(03:02):
thirty three days and change away from the election, and
if you can vote early, I encourage you to vote early.
Bank your vote. Why is it important to vote early, Well,
this is a money game. If you've noticed, every time
you turn on the TV or the radio, or even
send an email, almost immediately after you send your email
(03:27):
or turn on the TV or the radio, you know
you're going to hear political ads, especially in swing states,
and money is what fuels those political ads. And I
don't know if they make a difference. Some of them
are pretty strong, some of them are I'm going to
play something for you that points out the problems of
Kamala Harris that appeared on TikTok. I'm not a TikTok person,
(03:51):
but it is now migrated over to twitter x. It
has been seen thirteen million times, so that it has
to be making an impression, right, It has to be
doing something. So we need to make sure that whoever
you're supporting doesn't have to waste money trying to find
(04:13):
out if you voted already. If you vote early, the
campaign will know that you voted and Therefore, the party
will not need to chase your spend money chasing you around.
I know that sounds bizarre, doesn't it. But it's real.
It's very real. So I suggest that as soon as
(04:35):
you can you and I don't know, six seven, eight nine, friends,
make a plan to vote. Vote early, as early as
you can. If you can go to a polling place,
go to a polling place, if you can mail it in,
mail it in. Let's go. But that's my little rant
(04:56):
on the importance of the election. I'll be talking about today,
and God willing tomorrow as well. So much to get
to today. As I look out over the list of
things I have prepared today, I am monitoring not only
this election, which, as I said, so darned important, but
a lot of other things. You know, We're watching what's
going on in the in the Middle East to see
(05:19):
if peace might return to that arena. I don't think
it will until Donald Trump is back. We're watching the
aftermath of the debate the other night, and I know
Justin talked about it yesterday. There's still more fallout, more
follow up from the debate. One of my favorite things
(05:39):
was yesterday Tim Waltz had to do cleanup on Aisle nine.
The Minnesota Governor, Kamala's vice presidential pick had to do
a cleanup on Aisle nine because he screwed up when
he talked about China and his claim that he was
in Hong Kong during the T Square massacre. He had
(06:02):
to go out. While he was on the campaign trail
in Pennsylvania Statey. He was not too far from Pittsburgh.
The Harris Walls bus was out there and a small
press gaggle approached Governor Walls and asked him about it.
And here's what he said.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah, look, I have my dates wrong. I was in
Hong Kong and China in nineteen eighty nine that moved
from Hong Kong into China. It was profound for me.
That was the summer of democracy, I said. It's where
I understood how sacred democracy was. Is what encouraged me
about fifteen back and forth with my students, taking them
(06:44):
to China to understand both first of all, the culture,
but also to teach Chinese students about democracy. That was part.
I was one of the first group of high school students.
There weren't a lot of times that there were high
school teachers in there. That you could teach any Chinese
high school. And so you've seen me.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
These teachers see me.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
I speak like everybody else speaks. I need to be clear.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
I will tell you that.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
But here's my whole point on that thing with China.
I do understand China. I hell of a lot better
than Donald Trump. Kamala Harris understands China.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
I will tell you.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
This, Shijing Ping is not someone you should look up to.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Chijing Ping is.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Not someone who you should say does a good job
on things, as Donald Trump's has said about COVID. And
my point on this was Donald Trump got played on
a trade war. He created the largest episode with China
and American history, and he cost us one hundred and
fifty thousand jobs. So my clarity to take away from
the messages sometime I want to be very clear. August
of eighty nine into Hong Kong, into China fifteen times
(07:44):
with students to try and do this. My point being
on this, Kamala Harrison, I understand American jobs are more
important than where Donald Trump tried to save Chinese job.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
No, Donald Trump did not try to save Chinese jobs.
He wanted those jobs back here in America. The most
interesting thing about this clip is not able to be
translated through radio. It's who was standing behind Walls. The
person standing behind Walls was the Fetter Monster, John Fetterman,
(08:16):
and he's standing there with his arms crossed. And when
Fetterman turned around and walked away, it was almost as
if he said, this guy, it really is amazing to me.
There's more. I have a lot more from the reaction yesterday,
including Waltz saying some dumb things, and I'm going to
(08:37):
give him a free pass. I'm the one that everybody
keeps talking about this one.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I've become friends with school shooters.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
That was just a mistake. You know what he meant
he met who was friends with the victims of school shooters.
We've all made mistakes. I've made mistakes, lots of mistakes,
and there's plenty to be critical of Governor Walls about.
We don't need to crouch on that stuff. That's an
(09:04):
easy one. Today is going to be an interesting day
as we are now seeing more and more every day
about what happened in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee when
Hurricane Helene ravaged the region. I think the death pool
is now over one hundred and ninety and sadly it
(09:25):
is now the second deadliest storm in the last fifty years,
and the region is worried because there are two other
potential storms that could take the same track. My goodness,
say a prayer for those people standing in the in
the line. There so much more to get to today,
(09:48):
as well as your calls. You're welcome to join us
at any time. Eight eight hundred talk is the number
two four eight eight hundred talk. I have a list
as long as my arm, some big topics. We have
to get to, some crazy stories from yesterday, an update
on the port strike. Is it going to affect you?
Are you panic buying yet? Have you purchased extra toilet
(10:09):
paper and paper towels and stuff like that. Yeah, we'll
get into all that. It is Michael Pelka in for
my friend Justin Barclay on the Justin Barclay Show. It
is six point twenty. Good morning Detroit, Good morning Michigan.
Good morning to everybody listening online. It is Superstation at
(10:30):
nine ten am, the Newstock Superstation. Mike O. Pelka, that's me.
I'm in for Justin Barclay today and tomorrow. We are friends,
so I care a lot about his program and his audience,
and if you heard me before, you know that. And
you're all welcome to join the conversation at any time
(10:52):
at two four eight eight hundred Talk. Two four eight
eight hundred Talk is the number. I am online as well.
I'm on the Twitter Twitter X. It's always going to
be Twitter, isn't it. I know Elon keeps trying. I'm
just gonna call it twitter X, so get used to it.
(11:12):
But I'm on the Twitter X. You can put Mike
Opelka in there or stunt brain all one word s
t U N T B r ai N. I'm on
Facebook and Instagram and all all the usual places, and
I opine, but I don't obsess. I do use Twitter
X as a gathering for news and information because it
(11:35):
is a good place to get news and information. It's
a reliable source. I know people are going, no, it's
not you just got to be smart, but I do.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I do monitor what's going on on the news channels
because they're their Twitter X accounts are a good indicator
of what they believe is the hot topic of the day. Yesterday,
of course, it was the breakdown, the follow up on
the debate, now here's the really interesting and crazy thing.
(12:07):
Most people, not media people. Most people thought Jade Vance
won that debate handily. But the mainstream media, well, they
couldn't believe it, you know, because for months they've been
talking about Jadie Vance as this crazy guy, this whack
(12:29):
job conservative who calls single women childless cat ladies, and
they wanted to paint him as weird. And then he
came out as poised, affable, fascinating and frankly prepared. And
(12:50):
Governor Waltz we saw it was a little bit terrified,
which is surprising because he's a sixty year old man
with twenty years experience in the public eye, twenty years
pearance in government. He was elected six times to the
House of Represents, so he served twelve years there, two
terms as governor in Minnesota. It's not like he's a
(13:11):
stranger to debates. But he looked panicked. He looked crazy
to me. And the mainstream media was there trying to
bolster whatever you saw with walls and try and tell
you that you weren't really paying attention. They were covering
(13:32):
for him. What do I mean, Well, listen for yourselves.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
The Vice president doesn't actually.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
I think he had too much preparation.
Speaker 7 (13:43):
Maybe he had so many lines that he was clearly
trying to say that he didn't listen, he didn't respond
because he clearly had things in his mind.
Speaker 8 (13:50):
It was definitely Minnesota nice last night. But you know,
listen on any debate stage like that, when you get
on for the first time, he can have the butterflies.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
So he had the butterflies. He was too prepared, He
had too many lines. It is stupid what they're trying
to tell you, and they think you're stupid. That really
was amazing to me for a variety of liberal commentators
from MSNBC and CNN and CBS all telling us, well,
(14:24):
just Governor Walsh, he was too prepared. Can you imagine?
Can you imagine had the tables been reversed, had the
positions in the debate been reversed, the left would have
been telling Donald Trump, Oh, you need to ditch that guy,
You need to get rid of that candidate. And the
reality is Kamala Harrison her team have buyer's remorse when
(14:48):
it comes to Tim Walls. He is a second tier
candidate for vice president. They should have chosen. I think
it's pretty obviously they should have chosen Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro,
but they didn't, and people are saying they they didn't
choose Shapiro because he's Jewish. I don't think that's right.
(15:12):
I don't think that's the reason. It may be one
reason may be a reason, because to listen, winning this state,
winning Detroit and Dearborn and the entire state of Michigan
means you have to win over a huge chunk of
Muslim voters. And the Democrats are at least the punditory
is saying, well, they don't want to they don't want
(15:35):
to have a Jewish guy as the VP candidate because
they wouldn't win Michigan. I don't think that's the case.
I will tell you as a guy who makes his
home six miles away from the state of Pennsylvania. I
live on the border of Delaware in Pennsylvania. Shapiro is
a better candidate than Kamala Harris. Shapiro is more presidential
(16:00):
than Kamala Harris. Shapiro is smarter than Kamala Harris. And
if they had Governor Shapiro as the VP nominee, Kamala
Harris would fade into the background. So I don't think
it had as much to do with Shapiro being Jewish,
(16:22):
by the way, Lashaunaitova to our Jewish friends celebrating the
new year, Happy New Year. But I think it had
to do with the fact that Shapiro's a better candidate.
He's more presidential, he's more of an executive, he's more
of a leader. He thinks on his feet, he's not
afraid of the press, and he actually has a little
(16:43):
bit of a record of getting stuff done in Pennsylvania
in emergencies. When they had that bridge that got knocked out,
that overpass that got knocked out, he got things moving
pretty damn quick. So I think the whole reason they
chose Walls is they they wanted a weaker candidate because
(17:04):
Kamala Harris, let's face it, she's weak on pretty much
every topic but abortion. Everything. She's a flip flop around
every single issue except abortion. And that's what they're trying
to hang their hat on. That's the issue that they're
(17:24):
trying to make the number one issue. So we will
see where this goes. What do we have going on today? Oh,
there are big stories today. Kamala Harris Joe Biden went
down to survey the damage from Hurricane Helene. Yesterday, Biden spoke,
Kamala spoke. Both of them produced clips that we will
have to discuss today. Some big stuff happening there. There
(17:48):
was also a release from Judge Tanya Chucken put out
the entire filing from Jack Smith. I think it's like
one hundred plus pages, the latest filing against Donald Trump
in the election interference case. And well we'll find out.
Donald Trump calls this election interference, this filing. I think
(18:12):
he's right, but I also don't think it's going to matter.
It's flailing. It's the Democrats last attempt. And a story
about Kamala Harris's husband laked yesterday, and that story, wow,
that story if true, and it seems to be verified
(18:34):
by three sources. If true, the mainstream media is avoiding
a gigantica issue for Kamala and her husband. It's a
story about Kamala Harris's husband slapping a woman he was
dating in public, and she memorialized it contemporaneously with phone
(18:59):
calls to friends. We'll talk about that, We'll talk about everything. Plus,
as I said, your calls are welcome as well. More
from the latest outrage from the media, the ladies on
the view were venting their spleens yesterday. It's a busy day,
A busy Thursday, October third, The Justin Barclay Show with
miche Oh Pelka and for my friend Justin Barclay on
(19:20):
News Talk Superstation nine ten am. And Welcome to Thursday
on the Justin Barclay Show on News Talk Superstation nine
ten am. Justin taking care of some family business for
a couple of days. My name is Mike o'pelka. I'm
in for my friend Justin Barclay. As I've told him,
I will be here whenever he needs me. I've got
(19:43):
his six He is a guy who has his priorities
right God, family and country and in that order, and
he is taking care of business. So I am here
for my buddy, Justin Barclay, six thirty five on a
We've had some interesting events happen in the last twenty
(20:05):
four hours. As I mentioned, the Jack Smith filing was
released by Judge Tanya Chuck in thirty four days. When
she released it thirty four days ahead of an election,
she puts out the latest Jack Smith attempt at election interference.
That's what Donald Trump called it, and frankly I agree.
(20:26):
Hillary Clinton warned us, Oh, there's going to be an
October surprise. Now I realized yesterday was only the second
of October. Today is the third. There's plenty of time
for more surprises. We will well watch this one. This
is uh, this is election interference, This is law fair
(20:47):
as it's known. And I'll get into what Jonathan Turley,
attorney Jonathan Turley said about it, because that that's a
big stinking deal. The other story that I met, which
I believe that the campaign of Kamala Harrison needs to
(21:07):
explain this, needs to talk about this. Yesterday the Daily
Mail had an exclusive story that I believe is a
bombshell talking about Kamala Harris's husband, Doug m Hoff, the
Second Gentleman as he's known, the guy that MSNBC is
telling us, Oh, he's reshaping masculinity. Well, if the story
(21:32):
is true as the Daily Wire believes, it is Daily
Mail not Daily Wire. If this story is in fact
true as reported, he is truly reshaping masculinity and the
Democrats like to use the phrase toxic masculinity, well it
seems like Doug em Hoff has reported as a toxic mail.
(21:55):
The headline in the Daily Mail reads Kamala Harrison's husband,
Doug m Hoff, forcefully slapped ex girl friend for flirting
with another man in Booze Field Assault after date two
star studed Galen. Now, here's the deal. This is twelve
years ago, this is twenty twelve. Doug m Hoff, fresh
(22:20):
on the trail of a new mate after he split
with his previous mate, his wife. And why was he
divorcing from his wife? Well, he impregnated the nanny of
their kids. Starting to see a pattern of bad behavior
(22:41):
in the second Gentleman. Now, the story of Doug m Hoff,
Kamala Harris's husband impregnating the nanny, it kind of got
a little attention, and then the mainstream media said, no,
we don't care about that. We don't care about the
spouse of the Vice president of the United States. Really
(23:03):
we thought character mattered. Oh, that's say, it's personal life stuff.
Well does it? Does it matter or not? Is it
something we should care about? So Doug m Hoff divorcing
his wife, the mother of his two children, and the
reason that he divorced or was being divorced, was because
(23:26):
he got there nanny pregnant. Now, my first question about
that story, the nanny's pregnant. Where's that baby? We don't
know if there was an abortion. There is a report
of a possible miscarriage. The Daily Mail story says that
m Hoff and the nanny had an argument and she
(23:49):
blames the stress for a miscarriage. We don't know. That's
a weird one. But this story. In May of twenty twelve,
at the famous Cannes Film Festival France, Doug m Hoff
allegedly slapped a woman in the face so hard she
spun around. They were waiting in line for the valet
(24:10):
line after this star studded event. It was an Amphar event,
am Fhar being a gigantic AIDS charity. Oh, Harvey Weinstein
was there. Oh, Heidi Klum was there. That's what happens
at the can Film Festival. You have all these big
mucky MUCKs from Hollywood to gather and they hold these
galas and they have celebrity archs. They raise money for
(24:31):
charities and stuff. And the woman that m Hoff had
only been dating for about two months. They call her
Jane in the article. That's not her name. A lawyer,
apparently a very successful lawyer in New York. They'd been
dating for a couple of months and she had gotten
an invite to this exclusive event at the can Film Festival,
(24:57):
and so they flew out together and they attended this event.
And I'm going to summarize the story for you because
you don't need to hear the whole thing. But the
claim is that they were leaving the event and standing
in the valet parking line, and the woman allegedly walked
up to the valet the front of the line. She
(25:19):
didn't want to have to wait and offered the guy
either one hundred euros or a hundred francs or one
hundred dollars put her hand on the guy's shoulder to
get his attention, and according to the story, m Hoff
misconstrued that as flirting, and he turned her around and
slapped her and it spun her around and then she
(25:41):
slapped him back. They got in the car. She tried
to get in the car by herself, according to the reporting,
he forced his way in the car and then they
broke up after that. So Doug m Hoff has been
credibly accused. And there are three additional witnesses that this
(26:02):
woman claims to have contacted. They have all come forward
and talked about the incident. So where is the story.
Are you seeing it anywhere other than the Daily Mail
or in conservative outlets. No, you're not, because they're not
(26:22):
going to cover it because he is a D after
his name. Yeah, that's exactly why. Now I'm old enough
to remember when Kamala Harris talked about believing women who
accuse men of sexual misconduct back in September of twenty nineteen.
(26:47):
That was a year after the Justice Kavanaugh hearings, when
Kamala Harris was really going after Brett Kavanaugh during his
confirmation hearings, claiming he was guilty of abuse and the
victims had not been And she was on MSNBC talking
about that.
Speaker 9 (27:05):
Christine Blasie Ford who literally had nothing to gain by
coming forward Rachel, nothing to gain, She had a perfect life,
and she looked at the fact that this guy was
being nominated and said, the American people have a right
to know what I know.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
It was a sham.
Speaker 9 (27:24):
And when we talk about expecting that people will have
a sense of respect for the system of justice, we
have to recognize that the process by which he was
confirmed has created a crisis of confidence. I mean, listen,
after the initial hearings that happened a year ago, the
(27:45):
number of women and men who approached me in you know,
public places and cried about what this meant to them,
because there is so much about this issue, and a
prosecutor personally prosecuted sexual assault cases and cases of this
general nature. And one of the worst things that happens
(28:08):
is that when we are not willing to believe the
victim and take them seriously.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
So Kamala Harris was all in on Christine blasi Ford,
the woman who made up a story that was debunked
in several different ways against Justice Kavanaugh. I wonder if
this was ever discussed in the Harris household before the
story broke on the Daily Wire. If you read the
(28:35):
entire story, it's a very lengthy story and they cover
every angle on it. The question was asked of the
Harris family, would you like to respond? The Daily Wire
says Doug M. Hoff did not respond to our request
for comment. HM. The people that have come forward and
(29:01):
told the story of Jane, who is a Democrat, has
always voted Democrat, according to the reporting here, and will
probably vote Democrat again. She's a New Yorker, very successful attorney.
But her friends are out there telling the story about
the guy who could become the first gentleman should Kamala
(29:25):
Harris win. This all almost makes me wish that Don
Trump would do another another debate with Kamala Harris. See
maybe makes me think that would be a good idea.
So this question could be brought up, but it won't
be asked. If the debate is held on CNN, they
won't touch this story. It won't be brought up, you know,
(29:49):
just like we saw the VP debate and the CBS
anchors avoided the questions that we would have like asked,
but they didn't. This a big stinking deal. If we
are to believe the victims, then we should believe Jane
as she is being called the woman who alleges she
(30:11):
was assaulted and was in public and people saw it,
and three of her friends said it was contemporaneously reported
to her to them, each one of them got a
call from this woman after the alleged assault. I just
had to share that story with it. I know it's
a big stinking deal and Doug Amhoff is not running
(30:33):
for office, but guess what, you become the first gentleman
like the first lady. You have an office, you have
a staff, you have millions of taxpayer dollars at you
dispose all, you are allowed to do pretty much anything
you want. And here we have a guy who admittedly
got the nanny pregnant, and that story went away. Oh,
(30:56):
by the way, the nanny got an eighty thousand dollars
payoff to sign a non disclosure agreement. No, nothing creepier
suspicious there is there, not too much anyway. We deserve
to have the entire story told to us. The left
(31:18):
doesn't have the same level of curiosity that you and
I have. The left doesn't care. It seems they don't
want the whole truth and nothing but the truth. They
just want their truth, and their truth ain't the whole truth.
All right, we have so much to get to today.
I have a big news and I'm using air quotes
with my fingers. There seven up, which used to be
(31:42):
a very popular soft drink when I was a kid,
grown up. Seven up, it's still out there, and they've
announced something very big. That's kind of a wacky story.
And there was a story in Virginia about a teacher,
a high school teacher who refused to address a student
by whatever pronouns they wanted. This was a man who
(32:05):
stood up and said, no, I'm not playing this game.
I don't care what you want to be called. I
don't care if you want to identify as a cat.
You are a male or a female, and that's how
I'm going to address you. I will not use your
preferred gender pronouns. No, he was fired that case. That
(32:25):
case finally was heard and the verdict, well, I think
it's gonna make you smile, so you got to come back.
My name's Michael Pelka. I'm in for my buddy Justin Barclay.
This is a news talk superstation nine ten am. It
is the Justin Barclay Show. Michael Pelka.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
That's me.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
I'm your guest host today and tomorrow. Justter returns on Monday.
He's the take care of family. Nothing more important than family.
Family first family, and then country. And if you usually
have gotten family in the top two spots, countries not
(33:07):
too far behind. Just saying, just throwing that out there.
The last time I was here before the vice presidential pick,
I was talking to Aiden, who's keeping us on the
rails today? And I asked about the beard question about
vice presidential candidates because there was discussion over whether jd
(33:28):
Vance or Byron Donalds, both who have facial hair, and
both were considered to be Donald Trump's possible running mate
among many others. And aiden you had a really good
reaction to that. If I recall, do you remember it? Correct?
Correct and share it with the people. What did you
say again?
Speaker 5 (33:47):
I said it was cooler if they had facial hair, if.
Speaker 10 (33:51):
They regardless of like clean shaven.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Well, I agreed with you, even though a lot of
people had problems with it. And my beard of preference
would have been Byron Donald's. But we got jad Vance
and I thought he knocked it out of the park
the other night. But the Politico, the people at Politico
are mad about Jady Vance's beard. They wrote, yes, Jady
(34:15):
Vance's beard matters. Vance is the first White House want
to be to wear facial hair in eighty years. Research
indicates the voters see beards is more masculine and that
can be positive to some, but to others, especially women,
it can be negative, conveying aggression and opposition to feminist ideas. Okay,
(34:35):
now we've reached a new level of stupid among the
far left. Politico sees beards as aggression. I remind the
political wonks that Jack Smith, the guy who just filed
the latest slam against Donald Trump with this legal filing
(34:56):
that Judge Chucking released. He's got a beard. The Canadian
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a beard. Lincoln had a beard,
Jesus had a beard. Amazing, amazing that they would go there, Oh,
(35:17):
you people. I don't know if we're still allowed to
say that, but I'm I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy
of these folks. All right. I mentioned big news out
of the seven Up camp. Seven Up says they are
putting out the most overdue soda flavor in the history
of sodas, just in time for the holidays. Seven Up,
(35:40):
which I didn't know they were still, you know, pushing
seven Up. Seven Up is going to deliver a new
flavor called Shirley Temple. Now, Aiden, you're a young man,
you're a very young man. Do you even understand the
concept of a Shirley Temple? I don't think he does.
(36:02):
I think I've stunned you. In Shirley Temple, it was
a drink that parents used to give kids when they
were at parties, or you might be out at a
restaurant and the parents, mom and dad of a cocktail
and the kid would have a mocktail as it were
a Shirley Temple named after the child star. Shirley Temple
(36:24):
no longer with us, Shirley temp She actually became an
ambassador at one point, Shirley Temple Black. But Shirley Temple
was a seven up or ginger ale and a little
bit of cherry juice and a cherry in it, and
it made you look like you were having a drink,
just like mommy and daddy. I'll probably try it just
(36:47):
because it's pomegranate, cherry and a splash of citrus. I
didn't know we were missing Shirley Temple. I just think
it's funny that because they're probably going to have to
explain who Shirley Temple was to a majority of people.
And the other story I mentioned earlier about the teacher
(37:08):
in Virginia who refused to acknowledge the wacky pronouns of
one of the high school students. That guy was fired.
He was fired, fired, fired, and sued and he won.
He won, He won, he won. Do we have time
to get to the caller? Let's grab this collar real
(37:30):
quickly on the beer on the beard, so I don't
know who we're talking to who is this Ah, he's gone.
Our first caller of the day is the dial tone. Sorry,
we can we can put him back on hold. You
are welcome to join the conversation two four eight eight
hundred Talk two four eight eight hundred Talk. The first
hour of the program is basically in the can we
(37:53):
have two more hours to go. Oh. By the way,
the teacher who got fired inappropriately won a near six
hundred thousand dollars judgment from Virginia for standing up for
his rights. It's Michael Pelka in for Justin Barclay on
the Justin Barclay Show. It is seven oh six and
(38:18):
this is new Stock Superstation nine ten am on a
Thursday morning. Mike Opelka, that's me sitting in for my
buddy Justin Barclay. And you gotta bed. Every time you
hear George Starr Goods bad to the bone, you hear
those first riffs, you want to almost kick open a door.
(38:40):
I don't recommend that. It's very expensive to fix doors,
but you almost want to kick open your door. First
hour of the show was a zoomer. It went by
pretty quickly. We've got so much to get to today.
I'm going to try and make sure I have everything
up on my plate. But at the end of the hour,
we're talking about this story that Politico is is mad.
(39:04):
They're mad that Jade Vance has a beard, and I'm
just laughing at it because it is so stupid. And
just when you think we've reached peak stupidity, somebody new
steps up and says, no, no, no, there's more stupidity here.
(39:27):
This was the actual quote, and so it's the question
of the hour, the quote from Politico saying Jadie Vance's
beard shows aggression and he's the first White House wanna
be to wear facial hair in eighty years. Research indicates
(39:47):
that voter see beards is more masculine and that that
can be positive to some, but to others, especially women,
it can be negative, conveying aggression and opposition to feminist ideals.
And we initially debunked this because Jack Smith as a
(40:07):
beer and he's the guy, the special Counsel who should
never been appointed, who released another filing yesterday trying to
have a little election interference against Donald jown Trump and Trudeau,
the Canadian primister. He's got a beard, although I gotta
tell you it's kind of weird. It's kind of a
weird beard, kind of a spinach beard, as we used
(40:29):
to call it. It got a whimpy. So where are
you beard or no beard? Are you pro beard? Do
you team beard? Do you see the beards as a
sign of strength and masculinity or are they aggression and
opposition to feminist ideals? Two four eight eight hundred talks
(40:49):
two for eight eight hundred talk. You can jump in
on the conversation anytime you want. It is just so
silly to me. These people are losing their minds, trying
to find anything they can latch onto to try and
denigrate their opponent. How about we argue the facts. How
(41:13):
about we argue policies. How about we argue who has
the record? And that was one of the things that
jd Vance was talking about in the vice presidential debate.
One of the things that I thought came out very,
very obviously is that JD Vance came out and said, Okay,
(41:33):
the topic here is whatever they went to first? Was
it in the Middle East? Yes they did, And immediately
Donald Trump's history was front center, and the fact that
there were the Abraham Accords and peace was breaking out
everywhere in the Middle East, and there was no invasion
of Ukraine by Russia, nothing like that. And the little
(41:57):
rocketman had put his little rockets back in their little
rocket holsters. So yeah, let's utilize history. Yes, let's utilize
the record and make the argument based on the record.
You know, it's amazing to me as we go through
this last thirty three and a half days before the election,
(42:21):
what we're really seeing. Yesterday Joe Biden came back from
the beach. You know, he's traveling. He traveled yesterday to
the Carolinas to look at the storm damage. But he
talked briefly to the press, didn't say too much, but
talked briefly to the press and was asked about the
(42:41):
situation between Israel and Iran. As Iran fired one hundred
and eighty missiles at israel I believe nobody was injured.
No Israeli was injured or killed by the missiles. There
was one Palestinean man who died when one of the
(43:02):
missiles was knocked out of the sky by the Iron
Dome or one of the Israeli defense systems and landed
on this guy's head. The video is crazy, but there
is great anticipation as Iran and Israel. Both expect Israel
to respond to the one hundred and eighty plus missiles
(43:22):
that were launched at Israel. And Joe Biden was asked
about this, and one of the curious things here is that, boy,
it sure sounds like he's now agreeing with Donald Trump.
Speaker 11 (43:38):
Seriously, listen, obviously brand has gone way out of I
mean a way off court. We're done putting together George
Stephen hasn't been done yet, been done before it threw
off probably at the time we land.
Speaker 12 (43:52):
And there's got be some sanctions imposed.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
On right, So Joe Biden yesterday said there's going to
be sanks imposed on Iran, which is weird because he's
the guy who removed Donald Trump's sanctions. Donald Trump put
sanctions on Iran because Iran the number one sponsor of
(44:15):
terrorism in the world. And Donald Trump realized, well, you
really can't do this. You really can't be allowing Iran
to have the money that would allow them to sponsor
terrorism everywhere. So Donald Trump put sanctions on Iran. Donald
(44:36):
Trump canceled the JCPOA that joined agreement with Iran, just
canceled it. He bankrupted him. He had him on the
road to bankruptcy, you know, kind of the way that
Reagan bankrupted the Soviet Union. And then Joe Biden came
in and reinstated the Iranian agreement and then said, We're
(44:59):
going to give i Ran all this money. We're gonna
let them have access to money, We're gonna let them
sell stuff, We're gonna let them sell their dirty oil.
And Iran started then spreading the wealth and the hate
so their terrorism could go out everywhere. And now Joe
Biden is talking about putting sanctions on Iran. I hope
(45:19):
Donald Trump is pointing this out. We will point it
out no matter what. Just astounding to me, absolutely astounding
to me. But you know, they are nothing if not hypocrites.
And speaking of hypocrites, Joe Biden, as I said, went
(45:43):
to the Carolinas. The devastation is just jaw dropping. What
we see in the aftermath of this storm of Helene
is nothing short of biblical and its destruction. When you
talk about biblical flooding, this certainly was it. And the
(46:06):
numbers of dead, while the number is still rising, it's
approaching two hundred. The stories being told by the survivors
are heartbreaking. The mother who watched her seven year old
son get swept away. Breaks your heart. But the communities
are coming together to take care of each other, and
(46:26):
the communities are doing the right thing. And that's what's
so great about this country is we do look out
for each other. Neighbors take care of neighbors. And yesterday,
as I said, Joe Biden Kaanmla Harris were on the scene,
and they were on the scene making sure that we
knew that they were the government. Your government was there
(46:47):
to do the right thing, to give you some help.
And now I want you to think about the help
that Kamala Harris is talking about, especially as it relates
to or as it compares to the one hundred billion
dollars plus that we have sent to Ukraine of your money. So,
(47:09):
Kamala and Joey, we're in Augusta, Georgia and some of
the Carolinas yesterday.
Speaker 13 (47:17):
And the federal relief and assistance that we have been
providing has included FEMA providing seven hundred and fifty dollars
for folks who need immediate needs being met.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
Wait, seven hundred and fifty dollars, how about that your house,
your car, everything you own, your pets, your family lost
just wiped out towns. Entire towns and businesses wiped out.
Here's seven hundred and fifty dollars. We got seven hundred
(47:51):
and fifty dollars for you. I hope that's gonna fix it.
Thanks FEMA. One hundred and fifty dollars. Didn't they do
this in Lahina out in Hawaii? I think so. And
then there is the story of communications, because the cell
towers got wiped out too. A lot of people aren't
(48:13):
able to communicate with their loved ones. Many people had
only a cell phone, so many people only a cell phone.
And I'm sure landlines were wiped out too, but the
cell towers aren't being rebuilt quickly enough. And Elon Musk,
who runs a network of satellites called Starlink, and those
(48:34):
satellites they deliver internet and some cell service to some
of these communities. You have to have the little Starlink receiver.
And Musk has jumped up and said, hey, we'll we'll
start helping out as soon as we can. And in
fact he's he's wiping out the fees. He's making it
(48:55):
free to anyone in the region who's been affected by
the storm, which is great thing because those people will
end up being customers for life. But Joey Biden, the
guy who sent over one hundred billion of your dollars
to Ukraine, he couldn't wait to jump on the Starlink
bus yesterday Joe Biden talking from the Carolinas.
Speaker 11 (49:16):
I've also directed a development of Starlink's at the appointment
of Starlink satellite fifty to fift year in place right now.
More are going to be put in place so people
in places like Canton can call for help and reach
the ones that love ones and they're not sure with
anybody other that phone because of no cell service.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
What can someone diagram that sentence? Because that guy's brain
is just toast. Starlink was ahead of you, sir, You
didn't need to direct anybody. Elon Musk was on it,
absolutely on it. I've got more reports from the area.
(49:55):
We'll talk about that. I'm also reaching out to my
friend Lauren fix the car coach because there were a
lot of cars that were swept away. We heard reports
in the Florida when the seawater came ashore and the
saltwater came ashore, a lot of the electric vehicles, not
just cars, but scooters. When the saltwater hits the lithium
(50:17):
batteries fires little mini explosions. That's not good. But you
also have cars that were affected by the floodwaters, by
the mud being swept away, being tossed about. There are
thousands of cars that are going to be now I
guess cleaned up and attempted to be sold again. Is
it a good idea a bad idea? Next hour, Lauren
(50:39):
Fixed the car Coach. He'll join us to answer that question.
We have so much to get to and the question
of the hour here beards. Are they anti feminism? Do
you have a problem with beards like the Politico does
with the beard of jd Vance the number two for
(51:00):
eight eight hundred Talk. Two for eight eight hundred Talk.
It's Michael Pelka in for Justin Barclay on the Justin
Barclay Show. It is seven twenty two on a Thursday.
Mike Opelka sitting in for Justin Barclay and the Justin
Barclay Show here on News Talk superstation nine ten am.
Thank you for being here. The question of the hour
(51:22):
relates to beard's facial hair. I've had many a beard
in my life, mostly because I was lazy or too
financially stressed to want to go out and buy razor blades.
They are expensive. Razor blades ain't cheap. And I know
there's been a lot of companies that popped up to
(51:44):
try and compete with the big razor companies, but still expensive.
You know, if you got to shave every day to
show up a work that that runs into money. And
I used to just let it go. And I look
like the zigzag Man. Those of you who are old
enough to rem remember the zigzag Man, you know what
I'm talking about. I will post a picture of me
(52:06):
with a beard on social media, on Facebook and on
the twitters, so you can decide. But the question was
about beards because the people at Politiko got their drawers
in a bunch when the debate happened and they claimed
that the beard of jdie Vance was well, it's aggressive
(52:30):
and it's anti feminism. So I've asked you what are
you thinking. I believe we have a caller. I'm not
even sure who this is or where they're calling from.
Good morning caller, identify yourself at your location please.
Speaker 4 (52:44):
Yes, this is Ken calling from Livonia, Michigan.
Speaker 1 (52:48):
Hey Ken, welcome to the program and.
Speaker 4 (52:51):
You're brought up a good topic, very important topic, and
I wanted to set the record straight. And now, speaking
as someone who happens to be a Christian, I also
happen to have hanging in my living room many images
of Jesus Christ. They're referred to as icon. These are
(53:14):
historically accurate, identified as being from the eyewitnesses to him
when he was on the earth. And what do we
see in these historically accurate images of Jesus Christ a beard?
And I say that if Jesus Christ don't have a beard,
(53:40):
then I can have a beard. And I like to
share with you a name of an artist whose images
have been identified as being historically faithful, Warner Salman. And
if you look at his artwork and look at icons
(54:01):
of Jesus Christ, I happen to have one in particular
that was handmade in Greece with a certificate authenticity by
the Greek Orthodox Church. And one thing I also found
out referring to beards is that there's many meanings to them,
and one of them is wisdom. That when you have
(54:25):
a beard, it has has to do with wisdom, age,
and yes, age and wisdom.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
Oh well, you know this is all good, and you
were backing up what I said when I first broached
the subject about forty minutes ago. I did, in fact say,
of the people in history who we recognize as sporting beards,
Jesus Christ was one of them, as was Abe Lincoln.
In fact, when I go back to Lincoln, I believe
(54:58):
there was a story that a young girl wrote Lincoln
a note telling them him that he needed to grow
a beard because he didn't look good without one. So
conferring wisdom or or I guess, credibility of gravitas on
someone seems to also be one of the things that
the beard can do. So yeah, you know.
Speaker 4 (55:19):
Who else, well, you know who else has a beard,
and we're going to be seeing a lot of pictures
of him coming up. Who uh, Well, I have historically
accurate images icons as they call him, of Saint Nicholas,
and that's right. Another that's right, And another name that
(55:39):
he goes by nowadays is Santa Claus. And since Santa
Claus also is allowed to have a nice, thick, heavy
duty beard, did I say, go for it?
Speaker 1 (55:54):
Excellent, Ken, do you bring up a you make a
great argument, a great case, prima facia case achieved. Thank you, sir,
we appreciation for being there in Livonia.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
Thank you God, a good beard, have a good beard.
Speaker 1 (56:06):
Have a good beard to you too, sir, Thank you
well done, Ken, first caller of the day in an
excellent caller. We appreciate you. The story of Abe Lincoln's
beard is really kind of interesting as well. He was
the first president to have a beard, and he didn't
have it always. He decided to grow the beard thanks
(56:28):
to a letter from a well meaning eleven year old
who wrote to him and told him that it would
be good for him to grow a beard, and so
he did. He listened to the young lady because there
are numerous images of Lincoln without a beard. And my
(56:49):
wife always says, a beard makes me look too old.
She tells me, don't grow the beard. Shave, But you know,
I tell her it's a pain in the drain to
constantly have to sho. I didn't stray as far from
the apes as the rest of you. I have hairy
forearms that look like I've got fur. So I do
grow a beard. And if I let my beard grow,
(57:10):
I'm all hair and glasses on my face. But young
this young girl wrote a letter and said to him
that I have yet got four brothers, and part of
them will vote for you. Anyway, if you let your
whiskers grow, I will try and get the rest of
them to vote for you. You would look a great
(57:31):
deal better, for your face is so thin. All the
ladies like whiskers. Now this is about Lincoln. Maybe Politico
should do a little homework. All the ladies like whiskers,
and they would tease their husbands to vote for you,
and then you would be president. There you go, Abe,
(57:53):
Lincoln grew the beard because of the advice of an
eleven year old girl. What a great story, What a
great country. I have so much more to get to.
I have so many more clips to share with you,
updates on pretty much everything. The port strike, the effect
it's having. Are you panic buying? Are you one of
the people panic buying? We need to know as well.
(58:15):
Two four eight eight hundred Talk two four eight eight
hundred Talk. It's mic O Pelka in for Justin Barclay
on the Justin Barclay Show. It is News Talk nine ten.
Mico Pelka, that's me. I'm in for Justin Barclay and
the Justin Barclay Show. So much happening right now. I
was just reviewing what we were talking about earlier with
(58:38):
jd Vance's beard and the political thing. That's not the
only dumb thing they said yesterday. And I do think
it's important for us to point out when people say
dumb things, because when I say dumb things, they get
pointed out all the time. Politico, after saying that jd
Vance's beard was a threat to femine, was talking about
(59:02):
Governor Walls and his eye popping. You know how he
had his eyes wide open like he was being held
at gunpoint. It sure felt like that to me. Now
here's what Politico said about the eye popping. Eye popping
can sometimes be a sign of surprise. Yeah, okay, I'm
(59:25):
with you on that. I'll grant you that. But for Walls,
it simply revealed his emotional intensity, like during an exchange
about abortion. The dynamic and emphatic facial motion grabs the
viewer's attention. For Walls, it gave extra weight to his
(59:48):
feelings and it held our gaze. Now this is called insanity,
This is called aganda. These aren't journalists. These are people
who are just not being honest with you. These are
people who are doing whatever they can, saying whatever they
(01:00:12):
can to cover up for what was a horrible debate.
And in case you missed it, yesterday the mainstream media
was going apoplectic over walls trying to tell you just
how good he was even though he got hammered.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
The Vice president doesn't.
Speaker 7 (01:00:30):
Actually, I think he had too much preparation. Maybe he
had so many lines that he was clearly trying to
say that he didn't listen, He didn't respond because he
clearly had things in his mind.
Speaker 8 (01:00:40):
It was definitely Minnesota nice last night. But you know,
listen on any debate stage like that, when you get
on for the first time, you can you can have
the butterflies.
Speaker 1 (01:00:50):
Yeah, sure he can. Good try, good, try mainstream media,
Good try Politico. You failed. He lost the debate. It
was a disaster. But don't believe me. Well maybe you
should believe me because the ladies over at the view, well,
(01:01:13):
they had something to say about the debate.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
To the juvenile Ji will delinquent.
Speaker 9 (01:01:18):
I'm sorry jd Vance.
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
That's will be Goldberg trying to be funny and say
j d in jd Vance stands for juvenile delinquent. You
see what she's doing there, She's trying to be clever.
I won't interrupt. It's only a twenty two second clip.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
The juvenile ju will delinquent. I'm sorry.
Speaker 9 (01:01:40):
Jd Vance.
Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Made a choice spathic liars, the two of them. You
cannot have this guy in that position.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
Either, I will disagree with is a real person and
he's a smart guy. So he made one fe.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
So he made one faux paus. He screwed up the
China thing. Yes, he did say accidentally, and we acknowledged
that he made an accidental verbal mistake when he said
he made he was friends with school shooters. That was
just a screw up. But the China thing, well that
(01:02:20):
was really painful. That was awful, And I wonder why
there isn't more of an investigation into those multiple trips
he took to China. It really is disturbing to me.
I think that should be questions just as well as
everything else that we're talking about. You know, if you
(01:02:44):
listen to Robin Hoffman and the news reports from the Midwesterner,
you saw the story that was posted yesterday about the
Chinese um grants who charged with spying on Camp Grayling,
the military training one hundred miles away from the battery location.
(01:03:04):
You know, the battery factory they're talking about building. The
story's up on the Midwesterner dot News. You can see
it's right there on the front page. I'd like all
these things to be looked into, because if China is
buying farmland, if China is putting battery plants here, China
and the ports, you know, at least we stopped a
(01:03:27):
lot of the technology that China was sending over on
their cranes. We have a lot of cranes a lot
of these ports, and I know the port strike has
a lot of you concerned, has me concerned the the
ports that were putting these Chinese cranes in to unload
the ships. Somebody noticed that all of these cranes have cameras,
(01:03:51):
because if you're a crane operator, you can't see everything,
so you make use of a camera. Like your car
has a backup camera. Many of these cranes have cameras well.
Those cameras were connected to the Internet and they were
reportedly feeding information back to China. This is why I'm
(01:04:14):
not on TikTok as well, because all that data goes
back to China. So while the dock workers are out
there on strike right now, one of the things in
addition to the money they want, they don't want automation.
You see, we are not keeping up with the world
(01:04:35):
when it comes to automating our ports, and we need
to do that. We don't need to be feeding data
back to China. We need automation built here in America.
We need automation that is manufactured here. So let's automate
(01:04:55):
the ports. Let's take care of the workers. This strike
day is going to affect the economy. Stuff like bananas
and sugar, and clothing and furniture and booze, and cars
and car parts are going to be in short supply,
and the perishable goods like fresh fruits and vegetables will
(01:05:17):
have to be flown here. The other story is that
ozempic and Withgovi and some of these other weight loss drugs,
well they're sitting on cargo ships off shores. Well, so
they're now going to have to be flown in. And
a cargo ship is cheaper than a plane. So every
(01:05:37):
time you have to suddenly shift the method in which
you are delivering your products, it's going to add to
the cost of the product. Ultimately, if this goes five days,
it's going to trigger inflation. Are you purchasing stuff? Are
you out there buying extra stuff? I know, I've seen
(01:05:58):
the pictures from like a cost Card, oh and BJ's
Wholesale Club and Walmart, people with giant packs of toilet
paper and paper towels and other stuff that they're worried about.
The people are panic buying. Maybe it's because we still
have a little uh as my buddy Richie said, a
little PTSD from the pandemic. I didn't even ask this,
(01:06:19):
uh Aidan, are you panic buying? Do you know anybody
who's who's stocking up on stuff just in case the
strike goes longer.
Speaker 10 (01:06:27):
Like as far as the like doozembic bills or.
Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
No, like, I didn't even think you wereno sempia. I'm
talking about paper towels and stuff like that. I'm not
too worried about it.
Speaker 5 (01:06:41):
I will say there are some other people I know
that are, But as for me, I don't think it's
more of an issue until it becomes more prevalent. I
because with the COVID thing, I didn't know much because
remember when people were hoarding all the toilet rolls.
Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
Yeah, toilet paper was like money. It became it was
the new bitcoin. It was butt coin, that's what we
call it.
Speaker 10 (01:07:04):
Butt coin. That's good. I don't I don't think it's
an issue right now, but I do think that for.
Speaker 5 (01:07:15):
In the future, if it becomes more prevalent than I
might start to worry.
Speaker 10 (01:07:18):
But right now I'm chill.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
Well, I think it's always a good idea to have.
I don't know, two weeks worth of whatever you need.
Just look at what's going on everybody. If you look
at what's going on in the Carolinas. One storm came through.
Granted it was a storm that dumped for I think
it was forty trillion gallons of waters what they counted
in terms of water that was delivered with that one storm,
(01:07:44):
and it has wiped out towns, that has wiped out businesses.
There is one business in one little bitty town in
North Carolina that if that business is closed, as people
are concerned it is, if that business closes, the chip
industry will be severely damaged. There is one teeny tiny
(01:08:09):
town that makes or has a mine that provides the
quartz super pure sand that is used in virtually every
high tech chip, and the rivers around that mine have
ravaged the region, and people are worried that that could
be a really bad sign for the chip industry. And
(01:08:35):
I always wonder how do we allow one mind to
control such a critical piece of our infrastructure. So I'm
watching all of this. The North Carolina governor yesterday said
there are communities that are wiped off the map because
he was asked about rebuilding, and he, in a very
serious discussion with all the experts, said, we don't know
(01:09:00):
if we'll ever be able to rebuild. I mean, you
look at the devastation and the photos and your heart
breaks with them. Now you can help. I do recommend
that if you are a person who's got a couple
extra shekels, that you help, and you do it with
the organization of your choice. Our buddy Glenn Beck has
Mercury One, and I do know from experience because I
(01:09:22):
worked with mister Beck for six and a half years.
Mercury one is a great charity and they were already
on the scene with trucks delivering help. But Mercury one
dot Org is a place to go. The Red Cross
is a place that goes. Samaritan's Purse. Franklin Graham's organization
is a good place to go. They're numerous places and
if you can't help. You should.
Speaker 6 (01:09:44):
Not.
Speaker 1 (01:09:45):
Everybody can get there and with their chainsaws or whatever.
But this is not going to be a one week fix.
This is going to be months and months and months.
And I'm also worried how many voters are going to
be effected by this. North Carolina is a state that
actually has some pretty serious elections going on, and I
(01:10:08):
wonder how many voters will will be unable to vote
because thirty five days thirty three days before the election
they've lost their home. There everything, we'll see, We'll keep
an eye. As I said, Joe Biden was there yesterday.
He didn't sound too clear when he was speaking, and
(01:10:28):
he did sound clear when he took the opportunity to
blame climate change. Never miss an opportunity to maximize a crisis, sir.
That's what Saul Lynsky taught all of you people. Biden
going after people who don't believe in climate change, people
(01:10:49):
who just believe we call it weather and guess what
weather changes? All the time. Biden called people names.
Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
Let me close of this.
Speaker 11 (01:11:01):
Nobody can deny the impact of climate crisis anymore, at
least I hope they don't. They must be brain dead
if they.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
Do so, they're brain dead. You're brain dead if you
dare think differently than Joe Biden. You know the expression
the pot calling the kettle black. Mister Biden, mister President,
I really don't think you have a whole lot of
(01:11:27):
room here. You shouldn't be calling anybody brain dead or
brain damaged, just saying, sir, maybe you should sit this
one out. All right, I'm taking a break. When I
come back, I have some crazy stories I have to
share with you today. There is some good news about
the storm damage area, how people are being saved. There
(01:11:53):
are two other storms who are keeping our eyes on.
I'll give you an update on Kirk and Leslie. Sounds
like two people I don't want to meet. Five more
things you need to know about the strike And are
you a Bank of America customer? Did you have a
weird outage yesterday? We'll see what the update is on
Bank of America? And why are Spider fans going to
(01:12:17):
one Colorado Town? First of all, why are people Spider fans?
But there are a whole bunch of fans of araqnids
as they're called. We're all swarming to Colorado Town. Why
we need to keep an eye on those people. It's
Michael Pelka. I'm in for Justin Barclay. I'm the Justin
(01:12:37):
Barclay Show. It is seven fifty four Michael Pelka with
you on a Thursday on Newstock Superstation nine ten am.
This is the Justin Barclay Show. Justin taking care of
some family business for a couple of days, and I
will be here as long as he needs me. He
(01:12:59):
should returned on Monday. I mentioned a couple of little
interesting things happening in the storm ravage region North Carolina,
mostly North Carolina. Yes, Florida got it, and a bunch
of homes got hit in Florida, and a bunch of
people lost their lives in Florida too. They are worried
(01:13:21):
because there are two more storms lurking that are possibly forming,
and I guess they're given about a thirty to forty
percent chance of hitting. Kirk and Leslie. We don't want
to meet you, Kirk and Leslie, please stay away. But
there was a really interesting and good story good news
yesterday coming out of the region. The helicopters that are
(01:13:43):
flying over. A guy took a mirror and was reflecting
the sun towards the helicopter and they actually saw the guy.
They were over a mile away and they found this
person stranded in the mountains. People are so innovative, and
you know that's your survival instinct. You gotta be ready.
(01:14:08):
The other story that I found really interesting is that
there is a report that the Apple iPhone is helping
families communicate as cell service is down. You're saying, Mike,
how can the iPhone do that? Well, there's a new capability.
(01:14:30):
If you have an iPhone fourteen or newer so fourteen, fifteen, sixteen,
those are the three models, and you have the new software,
they have a satellite messaging feature that it's able to
be used for people without Wi Fi or cell service.
And that's kind of amazing that this is there. I
(01:14:54):
know Elon Musk is getting a lot of praise for
the Starlink, but if if we learned anything it's that
innovation might be life saving. And you should also learn
how to figure out the capabilities of your phones, because
these phones do remarkable things, and we often don't know
(01:15:15):
everything that our phones are capable of doing. So check
out the operation man, Maybe watch those little videos that
said here's how your phone works. You might learn something
and then I mentioned this town in Colorado where people
are rushing to La Junta, Colorado. It's a little town
in the Colorado plains, and it's apparently tarantula mating season,
(01:15:44):
so hundreds and hundreds of arachno files spider lovers are
flocking to this little farm town to watch the spiders
come out of their burrows in search of a mate.
I don't know about you, Aiden, but I'm not the
biggest of spiders. I know they do a good thing.
They eat a lot of bugs and stuff, but spiders,
(01:16:06):
especially in this town. It's tarantulis they have. They have
a festival for the tarantulists, and they even have a
hairy leg contest. Seriously, do you think I could make
up a Harry Leg?
Speaker 5 (01:16:20):
No?
Speaker 10 (01:16:21):
I mean, I can't get behind those. I really can't
get hind right.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
I can't either, and I just I just don't. I
want to see pictures of mister Harry Leg and Miss
Harry Leg twenty twenty four. I'm sure. I'm sure they
are a very specialized group of people.
Speaker 10 (01:16:37):
Oh I bet it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
So enjoy your breakfast as you think about Tarantula Fest
in La Hunta, Colorado. So much more coming up on
the Justin Barclay Show. It is the Justin Barclay Show.
Michael Pelka is my name sitting in for my buddy
just for a couple of days. Well, he takes care
(01:17:00):
of my family business. And what a day it is.
What a day filled with so many revelations. You know,
we're thirty three and a half days away from the
most important election of our lifetimes. As I have said,
and I never thought that Robert Kennedy and Tulci Gabbard
(01:17:23):
would be out campaigning for Donald Trump. And then while
that's making sense to me when you listen to their epiphany,
I look up and I see today Kamala Harris is
going to be campaigning with Liz Cheney in Wisconsin. And
people are saying, well, you know that makes sense. If
(01:17:45):
Tulci Gabbard and Robert Kennedy can campaign with Donald Trump
or for Donald Trump, why can't Liz Cheney. Well, I'll
tell you the answer is the Kamala Harris campaign, which
keeps saying that they're the campaign of joy right there,
the joyful Warriors. You now have a person whose entire method,
(01:18:08):
whose entire modus operandi is revenge. This is Cheney who's
all in on revenge. That's all she wants. Liz Cheney
and Dick Cheney are are both campaigning and both endorsing
Kamala Harris. But Liz Cheney out of the campaign trail.
(01:18:30):
She's doing it because she's mad. She's still mad at
Donald Trump. She's mad she got wiped out for her
her seat. And never mind that the January sixth thing,
the investigation I'm using the air quotes with my fingers,
was just so slanted in one direction. It really was
(01:18:50):
an insult to anybody who believes injustice. Never Mind that
we now learned that Nancy Pelosi and the Capitol Police
and the mayor of d C all turned down the
opportunity to have national Guard there. They said, no, Donald
trumpet authorized the days ahead of the time. Never Mind
all that, you, Steve still keep pushing that story. Liz Cheney,
(01:19:18):
she's gonna be on the campaign trail. She's not a
joyful wareer, She's an angry woman. Tulci Gabbard and Robert
Kennedy Junior, they're all in for positivity. They're all in
looking for something good to happen. And I believe that
they are truly positive influencers, the other positive influencer out there.
(01:19:44):
And this is a guy who's he's not really known
here in the state of Michigan. He's not really a
Detroit guy, but he is I think one of the
future stars of the GOP. His name is Hung Cows.
That name familiar. Maybe you've heard it, maybe haven't. He
(01:20:05):
is a candidate for the Senate in the state of Virginia.
Virginia's been reliably Democrat for a long time and Tim
Kaine's been there forever. Remember Hillary Clinton's cringey running mate,
Tim Kane. Yeah, that guy was. He was a weirdo
and he didn't help her campaign. She didn't help her
own campaign, But Tim Kaine ran with Hillary Clinton. They lost,
(01:20:32):
he lost, she lost, thank god. And the story of
Hung Cow now running against Tim Kane not getting a
lot of attention. Here's a guy special Forces captain, his
parents came here from Vietnam. He's one of the more
well spoken candidates you'll see out on the trail. But
(01:20:55):
he's running up against a guy who's been in the
swamp for years. So this guy Hung Cow on the
campaign trail is turning to wit to try and get
some attention. And he was out at the debate yesterday.
They had the debate in Virginia between Hunk Cow and
(01:21:18):
Tim Kaine, and there was a couple of magic moments
last night. Here's one of them with hung Cow talking
about the recruitment problems in the military. Again, this is
Guy's Special Forces guy with when.
Speaker 14 (01:21:33):
You're using a you know, drag queen to recruit for
the Navy, that's not the people we want. Look, what
we need is alpha males and alpha females who are
gonna rip out their own guts, eat them and ask
for seconds. That those are young men and women that
are gonna win wars.
Speaker 1 (01:21:48):
I love this guy. You don't need drag queens recruiting
for the military. Why do we have a military recruiting
problem because we've got drag queens. You want alpha males
and alpha females who would rip out their own guts
to eat them and ask for seconds. This guy is
a certified badass. He's also funny. He said this last
(01:22:12):
night on the debate stage. There's two truths in the world.
Speaker 14 (01:22:15):
Okay, never walk into target store wearing a red shirt
and never go against an Asian when it comes to math.
Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
Just I love it. How do you not love this guy?
Never walk into a Target store wearing a red shirt.
Same thing holds for Staples too. If you walk in
you're wearing a red shirt, You're gonna get asked, hey,
where's the printer? Ink? And never never go against an
Asian when it comes to math. He's an Asian. Guy's Vietnamese.
His parents came here years ago, he was born here.
(01:22:45):
He served in our military. This is a guy we
need in the Senate. This is a guy Donald Trump
needs in the Senate. Are we gonna see a victory
over the swamp in the Senate. I don't know, but
I hope this isn't the last we see of Honku,
even if he loses this race. I have a couple
(01:23:06):
more things to get to. I told you our friend
Lauren fixed the car coach is going to join us.
We talked about the ridiculous devastation and the horrific loss
of life due to Hurricane Helene tropical Storm Helenes that
swept through North Carolina. Hundreds dead, thousands of homes and
(01:23:27):
businesses wiped out. But as I look at the videos,
and I'm sure you've seen it too, you're looking to
go look at all the cars just being swept away,
four thousand pounds of steel and automobile just being pushed
aside like it's a toothpick. Well, I wonder what's going
(01:23:47):
to happen all those cars. I wonder if they're going
to be uh somehow put back in the market. What
do you do with those? So our friend Lauren Fixed
the car Coach is going to join us just around
the corner to explain what happens in that instance. What
is the situation as it relates to those thousands and
thousands of cars? Plus. Kamala Harris was asked about fracking yesterday.
(01:24:13):
You know, she's famously said she's banfracking, and she did
a video interview yesterday and was asked about that. Did
she tell the truth? I wanted to ask you.
Speaker 12 (01:24:26):
There's a political ad on TV from a nineteen twenty
nineteen climate Hall town meeting that you had in which
you basically said, quote, there's no question I'm in favor
of banning fracking unquote. The ad claims that if you're
elected president, you will ban fracking and you will cost
(01:24:49):
Pennsylvania over three hundred thousand jobs.
Speaker 13 (01:24:53):
That's right.
Speaker 12 (01:24:54):
Have you changed your view on fracking, yes, and if so, why.
Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
So?
Speaker 13 (01:25:00):
Let me start by saying that that ad as you
described it, as absolutely a mischaracterization that I think is
intended to make people afraid of my presidency. Let me
be absolutely clear, as I've been when I said it
back in twenty twenty. I will not banfracking. I did
not as Vice president. In fact, I cast the tie
(01:25:23):
breaking vote to open up more cracking leases. And my
perspective on this is grounded in a number of things.
Speaker 1 (01:25:33):
In quantitat, including a hope to be elected president. She
has flip flopped down fracking, and if we are to
be honest, and we should be honest and truthful about this,
because she flip flopped unfracking, we can anticipate that, God
forbid she's elected, she would flip flop again. I'm banfracking,
(01:26:00):
go for the Green New Deal and everything else she
has promised us. All Right, we have so much to
get to and I got a limited window of time
with our friend Lauren fixed the car coach. She will
be joining us just around the corner. It is eight fifteen.
If you have to be somewhere by eight thirty, you
better get moving. It's Michael Pelka in for my buddy
(01:26:21):
Justin Barclay here on the Justin Barclay Show. Welcome back
to Newstock Superstation nine ten am The Justin Barclay Show,
Miche Pelke, And for my friend Justin Barclay. Thrilled to
be here, Honored to be here. You know, when I
think about Detroit, I think about a lot of things,
most importantly about cars. So I reached out to my
(01:26:42):
friend Lauren Fixed the car Coach because what happened with
the storm Helene that blew through Florida and Georgian South Carolina,
North Carolina and Tennessee last week. That storm not only
killed a bunch of people and destroyed a bunch of
towns and homes, it also probably destroyed a bunch of cars.
(01:27:03):
We saw them in all the videos. I wonder if
they're salvageable. I don't know. So I reached out to
my buddy Lauren Fixed. She is the car Coach. You
should follow her in all forms of social media, especially
her YouTube channel car Coach Reports. Great stuff there, But
I got to ask you, Lauren, with all the thousands
and thousands of cars that were probably underwater or up
(01:27:27):
to their doors in mud, is there any way possible
to salvage or save those cars.
Speaker 3 (01:27:35):
They're worth nothing. And let me just give you some
history so that you are well aware. I was the
first one to bring this to light that there was
over six hundred and fifty thousand cars that were damaged
in Hurricane Katrina and Rita. And they're like, well, if
they all went to the salvager. No, they didn't. They
went to a yard where they waited for the insurance
companies to pay them out, which is exactly what's going
to happen here. As each car gets undug, it'll be
(01:27:58):
placed in a yard somewhere or in some sort of facility,
and it'll sit there and I'll promise you within moments,
especially if it's salt water. Because I was in southern
Florida during the last hurricane and this hurricane, I'm now
pro and I will tell you that what happens is
the salt water mixed with whatever is in your interior
and it becomes instant heavy duty mold, and I mean
(01:28:20):
mold that you cannot breathe. It's absolutely toxic. It destroys
the car insund's total garbage. So a lot of those
cars sit in fields and they wait they're supposed to
be taken by a salvageer, they're supposed to be reported
to Carfacts, but that costs money. So insurance companies may
not put every single car on the list because it
costs them for every single car to go onto Carfax.
(01:28:42):
And then when so you go to buy a car,
you check car Facts, it says it was flood damage.
You don't buy it. But what happened between with Katrina
and Rita as well as all the other flooding, the
last hurricane in Florida, the hurricane that we just went
through right now, these cars end up going to salvagers
and getting resold, some don't get reported. About ninety percent
get reported, so its the other ten percent, well, a
(01:29:04):
private owner might have it. If a private owner has it,
they're like, uh, oh, I don't have insurance coverage for
this because not every insurer we'll cover it. So then
what then you're stuck with a car which you try
to sell, clean up and sell to a used car
lot or take it to auction and it gets what's
called title washed. What does that mean? So maybe the
car came out of Florida at some point, or Alabama
(01:29:27):
or Mississippi Georgia, any of the states that had serious damage.
It'll then go from one auction to another auction, and
each time it switches states for that auction, they get
a new title claiming that the vehicle is in that
state in order to sell it. What happens if it
gets title washed? And some of the big states for
that is Alabama, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania. So what does it mean.
(01:29:50):
That means these cars could end up anywhere, And the
last six hundred and fifty thousand ended up literally all
over US, all over Canada, and even into Europe. These
cars would pop up out of the blue. Typically they
end up going to Canada or to the West Coast
because they figure you won't look for that. So, no
matter where you live, if you're thinking out a used car,
(01:30:10):
it's a beautiful Lexus, it's got a little mileage, it
looks super clean, and it smells like maybe there's a
lot of perfume inside well, or maybe it looks masked.
That is all signs that this car has got issues. Now,
before you buy any used car off of any used
car lot or any brand, for example, you're looking at Alexis,
don't go to a Ford dealer. Go to a Lexus dealer.
(01:30:30):
So if you're a Ford dealer or a used car
lot or some sort of chain place. So I need
to take this to a certified technician and a mechanic
will put it up on the lift and look at it.
It's going to cost you about one hundred and fifty dollars,
but what they'll look for is flood damage. If they
see it, they're going to tell you, hey, you know what,
under the fuse box there was a lot of moisture.
That's a big sign. Or there's some rust that's up
(01:30:54):
on top of the engine that should not be. There's
a lot of little tips and clues I have all
on my website if you really want to do a
deep dive. But the cheapest thing to do is find
a mechanic, pay them one hundred and fifty bucks, two
hundred bucks, put it up on a lift, take off
the wheel and look at it. And if they say
it's flood damaged, do not do not under any circumstances.
By the car. There is zero warranty zero. That's the
(01:31:16):
number one thing you're not covered for. Rester protection, emissions,
collision and typically airbags don't work, and all those safety
features in any vehicle all the way back and forth
are garbage. They get, they don't work, and worst off,
their car could stop at any time. Now, I will
tell you there's a lot of expensive cars that have
been damaged, especially in Saint Pete Tampa area, and I've
(01:31:39):
seen it. In addition to that, anything that's an electric
car that's been in a flood, you do not want
it can catch fire instantly. So if they have an
electric car, you know someone that does, even a hybrid,
and it was in the flood and looked fine, only
went up halfway up the doors. I can reuse this car.
Leave it parked outside. Don't put it anywhere near your home.
(01:32:01):
We've lost thousands of homes. Cars are caught fire just
spontaneously because of the salt water, because salt water electricity.
That's a fire.
Speaker 1 (01:32:12):
Yeah, especially with these so lithium ion batteries. And it's
not just the cars, it's also the scooters and the
electric bikes. Same kind of battery technologies. Salt water plus
that battery means a problem. Put them outside. Lord, let
me let me ask, because if the cars are pretty
much a total wipeout. If I've got a car and
(01:32:33):
it gets hit with water. Can I recycle the tires?
Can I recycle the actually like wheels that were on
the car? Is there anything that's salvagible?
Speaker 3 (01:32:43):
I would say to first off, the lloy wheels get
to strike instantly from water. They don't like to sit
because you're talking about aluminum, and it gets corrosion, It
anadizes essentially, so it makes it have no value. Very
few moving parts are worthwhile. If if you're a salvager,
they know exactly what they can do. If it's a
much older car, like a sixty five Mustang for example,
(01:33:05):
and it's been enough flood, typically do be a restored
car and there's not a lot of wiring and electrical
that The batteries are obviously the big issue, But in
that case those cars are We've bought hurricane cars before
that have been through miserable, miserable situations and they get
stripped on to raw mettalle It just makes for a
bigger restoration project. So don't try to keep the car.
(01:33:25):
Restore it because the mold and the chemicals and everything inside,
and who knows what was floating in that water, could
even be saltwater that came up from the coast. That
will actually cause you to have pouth issues. So don't
find yourself in a vehicle that's been flood damaged.
Speaker 1 (01:33:40):
Wow, So we have a lot of time, you know.
I hope the states and the insurance companies work together
to make sure that these thousands and probably tens of
thousands of cars get some kind of flag on them.
But that's also going to cause if these cars are
now unusable and unable to be sold, that's also going
(01:34:00):
to take a bunch of inventory off of the market,
which could cause a price rise, a little inflation in
news cars. Not even what about all the new cars
on the lots in those towns.
Speaker 3 (01:34:13):
Well, we're gonna have other issues. All the new cars
get destroyed immediately that go through dealers. They have insurance
coverage for that. They'll be taken away, they'll be crushed,
they'll be destroyed. That's how the dealers work with the manufacturers.
They'll purchase new cars and they'll fill the lots up
eventually once the dealers are repaired. It's important to note
with this port strike, new cars coming in if their
(01:34:34):
import cars or any car that's not built here in
the US or components thereof, that's going to be a
problem because that goes into the Gulf coast. So as
you think, oh, well the water is succeeded, I exceeded
or turned back to where it is. You know, everybody's
you know, thinking I need to get a new car.
You go to the dealer. They may not get cars
for a while. So this combination is ugly. Yeah, and
(01:34:56):
there resultso cars are going to get more expensive. They're
going to be difficult to get. Used cars will get
more expensive because there'll be less of them, and what
is available, there's going to be a higher demand because
you can't get new cars. And we're going right back
to when we had the chip shortage. You're going to
watch prices and vehicles get very expensive. So keep on
a lookout. If you think you were buying a used
car and you were ready to sign the paperwork and
(01:35:18):
you're nowhere near the flood damage, I get that car
as quick as you can, because all those dealers know
they're going to be selling vehicles to the Southeast because
they're going to sell them at a premium.
Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
Yeah, make the deal now, it's smart. Yeah. I'm glad
I paid my insurance for a year last week because
I imagine insurance companies. They are going to be pressed after
all this too. Yes, Lauren, let's give you a pat
on the back, and you raise the alarm on something
in terms of cars and spying on people, and I
(01:35:49):
think I think you can claim a victory. And even
Gavin Newsom was apparently influenced by your work.
Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
Listened to me. Yes, they were talking. They're very close,
and passed the House and the Senate in California to
have speed limitters in cars. And what it would do
is once you reached five miles an hour over the
speed limit. And I just drove an Aston Martin that
had this, and it's extremely annoying that it would be
incessantly until you win follow the speed limit, and it's
(01:36:20):
very difficult to shut it off, and every time you
get in the car, you have to shut it off.
On the current cars. In twenty twenty six, along with
the kill switch everything else, it would have been permanent.
And if California passed that law, every single state would
have to do it, because they never build a car
for just one state, they build it for the whole
entire country. Well conveniently, after Senator Wiener brought it to
(01:36:42):
the desk of Governor Gavin Newsom of California. He veatout it,
thank you, thank you, Yes, and empower is that because
you the consumer, you the resident of California, and politicians
all pushed back saying this is not going to work.
I also think that it means that he's probably going
to try run for office in the next round, and
he needs to have a clean record and now upset
(01:37:05):
the citizens so they can all say how wonderful he is.
Speaker 1 (01:37:07):
Take the w Lauren, take the credit because I'll take
the win. Yeah, take the credit too, because the blame
is never far behind. Trust me on that one. It's
a good thing you get. You got this one done.
You were one of the leaders on this and that's
why we talk to you almost every week. It is
Lauren Fixed. She is the car Coach. Go to her
YouTube channel car Coach Reports, great stuff up. It seems
(01:37:31):
like every day there's something up there new. Lauren. I
so appreciate you, thanks again, thank you. And there she
goes my friend Lauren Fix, and here I go. It's
Opelka in for Justin Barklay on the Justin Barclay Show.
It is eight thirty five. Michael Pelka that's me. I'm
in for my buddy Justin Barclay today tomorrow who'll return
(01:37:54):
on Monday. Thank you for being here. We appreciate your support.
I'm just I'm just looking at some of the news
reporting that's going on as we are getting so close,
so close, We're this close. I'm holding my thumb and
forefinger just like centimeters apart. This close to election day,
(01:38:16):
thirty three days in change until the official election day.
Many of you can vote if you weren't here earlier
when I said why you should vote early. Your party
does not then have to spend money courting your vote,
and these elections, believe it or not, rely on money.
Donald Trump raised one hundred and sixty million dollars in
(01:38:39):
the month of September, which is a boost for him.
Kamala Harrison, the Democrats are absolutely pouring money into her
campaign and every dollar saved is a dollar that could
be used to reach voters. So vote early. But apparently
CNBC is reporting that half of the voters believe the
(01:39:01):
outcome of the election will directly impact your finances. Your
personal finances. Now, the last three and a half years,
three years and nine months have certainly impacted the finances
of Americans. Americans are much poorer than they were when
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, much poorer. We
(01:39:25):
had the inflation surge, and just because the rate of
inflation has dropped doesn't mean prices stop going up. No,
it just means they stopped going up as fast, and
wages have not kept up with inflation, which that accounts
for some of the deficit in our personal wealth. And
a lot of people have maxed out their credit cards,
(01:39:46):
and credit card rates are now artificially inflated because, let's
face it, the banks have to weigh their risk, so
they have to increase the rates because so many people
are defaulting between a card debt, automotive debt, college debt,
(01:40:06):
mortgage debt. People are really stressed, and now they're thinking
that the election will directly impact their finances. C NBC
this morning.
Speaker 15 (01:40:18):
A new poll finds nearly a quarter of adults say
the outcome of the presidential election will determine whether they're
rich or not, and have believe the election outcome will
directly impact their personal finances. That's according to a survey
of twenty two hundred adults by the Financial Services firm empower.
Speaker 3 (01:40:34):
Now.
Speaker 15 (01:40:34):
Their retirement outlook may also hang in the balance, with
twenty six percent saying they're never going to be able
to retire, twenty nine percent indicating they'll have more money
in retirement, and thirty one percent saying they're likely to
be more financially secure in retirement. Depending on who wins
the presidency on November fifth.
Speaker 1 (01:40:52):
Yeah, I know that if don Trump wins the presidency
on November fifth, please God, Please God, Please God, there's
a great possibility that more Americans will be financially secure.
And part of that comes from the fact that mister
Trump has said he will And now both candidates have
said they're going to cut taxes. But Trump has said
(01:41:14):
for everybody, Kamala said for the middle class. Trump has
said it's going to be for everybody. But Donald Trump
is also not out there pushing this agenda of taxing
unrealized gains, which still is the most confiscatory thing I
have ever heard come out of a candidate's mouth. Really
(01:41:35):
is stunning that they would they would think about confiscating
whatever they perceived to be the benefit you've received without
actually cashing it in, Meaning if you bought your house
five years ago and you paid two hundred and fifty
thousand dollars for it, and now it's worth four hundred thousand.
(01:41:56):
They look at that as you've made one hundred and
fifty thousand dollars and they want to tax you on that.
That is ridiculous because real estate market and values go
up and down. Just amazing. That unrealized gains tax needs
to be brought up again and again and again, and
(01:42:19):
Democrats need to be called out for it. I promise
you Donald Trump going to be on the campaign trail.
Well he's not stopping, He's going everywhere, but he is
going back to Butler, Pennsylvania. Butler, Pennsylvania where on July thirteenth,
Donald Trump was almost killed. He was winged his ear
(01:42:40):
hit by would be assassin's bullet. I won't mention the
guy's name. I don't want to give him any promotion.
But he's going back there. And people wonder if there
will be an October surprise from Donald Trump something. But
(01:43:00):
here's mister Trump talking about going back to Butler.
Speaker 6 (01:43:03):
And going back to Butler because I feel I have
an obligation to go back to Butler. We never finished
what we were supposed to do. And I said that
day when I was shot, I said, we're coming back.
We're going to come back. And I'm fulfilling a promise.
I'm fulfilling really an obligation.
Speaker 1 (01:43:21):
He will be back. He will pay tribute to the
lost life of Corey Comparatore, the former fire chief who
lost his life, and hopefully the two other guys that
were wounded seriously, and let's hope they've made complete recoveries
and they can appear on the stage. I think that
would be a good thing. That would be a very
(01:43:44):
good thing. There also is considerable anger now burwing because
Alejandro Majorcas made a statement yesterday. Cabinet Secretary Alejandro Majorcus
has told us that FEMA doesn't have enough funding to
last through the hurricane season. They just don't have enough money,
(01:44:06):
not enough money. We're told, how much money did you
send of hours to Ukraine? How much Ukraine this last week? Oh,
we're sending another eight billion. What are the hurricane victims getting?
Here's your seven hundred and fifty dollars, here's your seven
(01:44:30):
hundred and fifty dollars. It's embarrassing, it's infuriating, and it's
just flat out wrong. It's absolutely wrong. We talk about
the polling data because I look at the polling data
every day, and I don't know if I believe the
(01:44:50):
polls when they're positive for Trump. I don't know if
I believe the polls when they're negative for Trump. I
just know that every pole seems to be showing it's close.
It's close. And CNN last night with Anderson Cooper was
talking about polling here in Michigan, especially with young voters.
(01:45:12):
Now I'm hearing things that Donald Trump is doing very
well with younger male voters, not so well with younger
female voters. But you'd expect that because Kamala Harrison the
Democrats keep saying that this abortion topic is going to
ruin your lives if you elect Donald Trump. So they're
scaring the hell out of younger females. But younger college
(01:45:34):
age males seem to be trending towards Donald Trump, which
is kind of a new thing because they went for
Biden last time. But where are the young Michigan voters
and what are the topics that are moving those votes?
Could it be the Middle East? Could it be Israel?
Could it be Hamas? How is Vice Prosident Harris performing
(01:45:55):
with young voters compared to how President Biden did in
twenty twenty.
Speaker 16 (01:45:59):
Some numbers Anderson to help with that question. Number one,
just look at this choice for president.
Speaker 1 (01:46:03):
I want to stretch this out a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
Excuse me for turning my back.
Speaker 16 (01:46:05):
This is our recent New York Times Siana pol. It
shows Donald Trump and the Vice president tied tide among
voters' aides eighteen to twenty nine. Joe Biden carried that
group by twenty four points in twenty twenty in the
exit polls from being on the ground. Remember when you
pull a smaller subgroup in a poll, there's a bigger
margin of error. I can't quite believe it's a tie
from being on the ground several times in Michigan. But
there's no question the vice president is doing better than
(01:46:27):
President Biden was doing earlier this year, when a lot
of young voters didn't want him to be the candidate anymore.
But she's not doing as well as he did back
in twenty twenty. There's no doubt about that. Absolutely no
doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
So Donald Trump is outperforming with young Michigan voters. He's
outperforming what he did in twenty twenty against Joe Biden.
That's a very encouraging sign. That's a bunch of good
news for Donald Trump in his campaign. That's a really
(01:47:00):
good good data point for him. We shall see. We
are monitoring some of the other statements and made yesterday.
As regards to the release of information, Jack Smith, the
Special Council never should have been appointed, put out a
(01:47:20):
new filing against Donald Trump. Judge Chuckkin released it all
the Trump campaign said it was election interference. Trump saying
that he's already won this case, but he's not happy
about this new release of information as relates to the
election interference case that Jack Smith is attempting to bring
(01:47:44):
just thirty three days before the election.
Speaker 14 (01:47:46):
You know that Special Council Jack Smith had piled court
documents calling your actions in the aftermath of the twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:47:52):
Election quote a private criminal effort. Can you respond to that?
Speaker 6 (01:47:57):
He's a deranged person. I call him deranged. Jack Smith
just lost the big documents case. That was the biggest
of them all. They said the documents case, and they
said that was the toughest of them all. Let me
tell you, we just wanted and it was won strongly
and completely, and it was a total victory in Florida.
And he is a person who is trying, and he
(01:48:17):
works for Kamala and he works for Joe. This was
a weaponization of government and that's why it was released
thirty days before the election. And it's nothing new in there,
by the way, nothing new. They rigged the election. I
didn't rig the election. They should have never allowed the
information to be to come before the public, but they
did that because they want to hurt you with the election.
(01:48:39):
It's pure election interference to get an incompetent person like Kamala.
She's grossly incompetent. She's more incompetent than Biden. To get
these people elected.
Speaker 1 (01:48:49):
Don't Trump speaking to News Nation about the release of
the latest information latest filing by Jack Smith. It's more
than troubling, more than troubling. I'm looking at my time
here because we only have so much more time. Glenn
Beck waiting in the wings here. I did have one
(01:49:12):
more of the Bizarro interview that Kamala Harris had yesterday,
where she did a remote interview. It was like she
was on a zoom call with the interviewer. I guess
we should be happy that she's at least doing more interviews.
But the question that was asked of her was really
kind of interesting because it went back to I guess
(01:49:33):
this is aftermath from the debate when Jadie Vance was
really pushing it, saying, Hey, if Kamala Harris could do
all the things that she's promising to do today, why
isn't she doing it? And Donald Trump said, You've had
four years his VP to do all these things. Let's
(01:49:54):
see if she makes any sense. When asked about that.
Speaker 12 (01:49:57):
Former President Trump says that you've had four years as
vice president to do all the things you've promised in
the campaign, but haven't done it. Is he right or
did President Biden not give you or limit it in
some way your role as vice president?
Speaker 13 (01:50:16):
So let's start with this. I think that the former
president is really becoming quite desperate and has really been
offering a lot of misstatements and misinformation.
Speaker 1 (01:50:34):
So what's the misstatement and misinformation? Where's the desperation in saying, Hey,
if you are promising to do these things on day one,
why wasn't day one three and a half years ago?
But continue, madam, And.
Speaker 13 (01:50:48):
Perhaps it's because he wants to distract from the fact
that he has offered no plan for the American people.
Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
He has offered a plan. He's talked about he's going
to open up the energy production, which we saw in
the past drove the cost of everything down. He's talked
about a tax cut for everybody. He's talked about lowering
the corporate tax rate, especially if you bring jobs here
to America. If you make your stuff here in America,
your corporate tax rate will be fifteen percent. If you
(01:51:13):
make your stuff elsewhere, if your corporate headquarters and offices
are in other countries, your tax rate is going to
be higher. I think those are plans.
Speaker 13 (01:51:23):
I have talked about this before. I invite you to
go to his rallies, and what you'll hear about full
time is him talking about himself.
Speaker 1 (01:51:30):
No, he really kind of talks about you. He talks
a lot about you and what you and Joe haven't done,
or what you have done to the American people, and.
Speaker 13 (01:51:42):
His personal grievances. But what you won't hear him talking
about is you and the needs that you have as
a working person, as a family person.
Speaker 1 (01:51:50):
Yes, he does.
Speaker 3 (01:51:52):
Good.
Speaker 1 (01:51:52):
Try good try, Madam Vice President, But you're pitching a
truckload of Bravo Sierra and Frankly, we're tired of it,
and we only have to put up with it at
least for another thirty three days. In a few hours,
it is almost time to get out here. I can't
believe the time is flying by so quickly. When we
(01:52:16):
come back, I have to see if there's any burning
topics on the front page that we have to get
to before Glenn Beck gets here. You have a final thought,
you're welcome to share it to for eight eight hundred
Talk to for eight eight hundred Talk. It's Mike Opelka
in for Justin Barclay on the Justin Barclay Show. It
(01:52:39):
is eight fifty four on a Thursday morning. Mike o'pelka,
that's me. Yeah, I'm in for my buddy Justin Barklay
on the Justin Barclay Show. Funny how that works out.
I will be back tomorrow, god willing, and we will
wrap up the week and cover all the news that
happens today and give you updates as they occur on
all the topics. One of the most interesting topics I
(01:53:02):
think we broached today was the meltdown the left had
over JD Vance's beard. Politico was saying that, you know,
it's too aggressive and it's an affront to feminism, and
we talked about it. I posted a picture of my
(01:53:22):
beard on Twitter X. You can see it there. I
should put it on the Facebook as well, since so
many of you were reaching out via Facebook. Thank you
to everybody who's listening, not just here in Detroit and
the Regent, but around the country. I got a bunch
of people from Florida checking in via the streaming, so
(01:53:42):
thank you, thank you, thank you. But the beard subject
came up and Aiden and I were talking about it,
and Aiden said, are you aware that people are getting
beard implants? And I thought, hold on a second, just
a cotton picking minute here, and what what did Aiden
say to me that everybody, every young person says to
(01:54:03):
every old person. Google it. So I looked it up.
And beard implants are a thing. People are getting beard
implants and transplants. This is the craziest thing ever. Why
wouldn't you just buy a fake beard like you see
in the movies? But beard implants and they're not cheap.
(01:54:26):
They cost upwards of fifteen thousand dollars. Now, I understand
if your facial hair won't grow, why not be clean shaven?
My wife loves the clean shaven look. I've had numerous
beards over the years, and she always goes, why the
beard now. She always says, it makes me look old
(01:54:47):
because now my beard is salt and peppery. So I'm
I'm clean shaven for the moment, although it will be
a couple of days before I will shave unless we
have to go somewhere or be somewhere in public. It's
a pain in the drain. I'm just throwing that out there.
(01:55:07):
A couple other loose ends to tie up. We talked
about Doug m Hoff, the Second Gentleman, being caught up
in a reported scandal, allegations that he slapped a woman
at the can Film Festival, slapped his date, essentially assaulted
his date. And you're not seeing the story anywhere. And
(01:55:29):
Chris Cuomo says, there's a reason why.
Speaker 17 (01:55:33):
If the name of Trump instead of m Hoff, it
would be all over the news. Daily Mail, echoed by
The New York Post, has a story Doug m Hoff.
Kamala Harris's husband accused of striking a woman he was
on a date with at the can Film Festival back
in twenty twelve. They had been drinking and he didn't
like how she talked to the valetd he smacked her,
she smacked him back.
Speaker 1 (01:55:56):
So that's the allegation, and I think Cuomo's right. If
this had been a case where Donald Trump or jd
Vance had been credibly accused of slapping a female in public,
it would be twenty four to seven. This would be
all over the news, It would dominate the news. But
(01:56:19):
because it's a Democrat, crickets nothing. You're hearing nothing. We'll
see if this goes anywhere, we'll see. Maybe the woman
shows up, maybe she'll come forward. Right now, she's requested anonymity.
A lot left to cover today. I encourage you to
(01:56:42):
get outside, get some of the free vitamin D. It's
only available until the fifteenth of this month and it
goes away till the spring. But Glenn Beck is waiting
in the wings. As I said, I'll be back tomorrow.
Thank you for being here till next time. Thank you, Aiden,
Thank you everybody who listened. It's Michael Pelka reminding you Testudo,
(01:57:06):
my friends. Testudo
