Speaker 1 (00:00):
There's never a dull moment. Kyle knows that, probably more
than anyone who is staying up to dat as you know,
the Midwesterner stays up to date on all of these stories.
Kyle Olsen with the founder of the Midwestern or the
Midwesterner dot news. So Kyle, let's start with Whitmer in
a very and these are there's something in baseball right
called unforced errors? Is it what we're seeing here? Democrats
(00:24):
are getting caught infectors one after another yesterday, and we
can talk about those, but I want to start with
Whitmer's weird and it's even worse than that. It's gross.
It's a sort of mockery, sacrilegious video that was put
out with a with I guess an influence over influencer
(00:45):
over on TikTok or Instagram. I'm not really sure who
these people are. I don't think people really know who
they are. But it's very strange she would choose to
do this podcast and then they would make this weird
mocking video.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Here is a.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
It's a I don't know that the music and that's
that's the music. I don't know that the music has
anything to do with Maybe it's just part of this trend.
But she seems to appears to be feeding this influencer
who's on the on her knees, sitting there on the ground.
(01:21):
She's got a Harris Walls hat on a bag of Dorito's,
and it appears anybody watching this, any Christian can see
this is like a sort of a mockery of communion,
and particularly I think Catholics would see you take offense
to this. But there are groups speaking out about this.
What what in the When I saw this yesterday, I said,
(01:42):
just sometims, what in the actual expletive are we watching?
That was really my response.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
It's so strange, and I try to I'm trying to
understand what her strategy here is. Is she trying to,
you know, look, appealing to people who are on TikTok?
I don't, I legitimately don't understand, because what is is
what is she trying to accomplish here? Because obviously somebody
(02:13):
is telling she she has this social media strategist who
apparently is telling her to do these things, and she
just goes along with them. And there's some days I'm going,
you know, her staff, maybe her staff doesn't like her,
and they say, oh, this is a good idea, and
then she goes out and does this sort of thing
and then she gets just absolutely ridiculed on social media
(02:37):
and everywhere else. She's trying to get affirmation. But think
about Joss Gretcha Whitmer is the CEO of the of
a of a state. She's just let's just say she's
CEO of a public company. If you see the CEO
of a public company putting out statements like this, videos
(03:00):
just ridiculous things, does that instill any confidence in you
that you would invest in that company? And think about
if you're a CEO and you're looking to relocate your
your business to another state and you see the governor
of the state that is trying to court you putting
(03:22):
out statements like this. To me, it just it shows
she's not serious. She would rather chase social media clout
than she would then she would chase businesses, business development,
And it just the whole thing is, you know, there's
(03:43):
a lot of people that are upset because they say
it's you know, anti Catholic bigotry in all of that.
A lot of people are you know, indignant and outraged
about it. But just think about what signal this is
sending to the rest of the country and the world
that this is the person that's leading our state. And
(04:04):
when she does these sorts of things, she's completely ignoring
the fact that Michigan is the second most dangerous state
in the country. Grant Detroit is the second most dangerous
city in the country. We have declining education scores, our
roads are certified certifiably getting worse than getting better. There
(04:27):
is very little that's positive going on in the state
of Michigan. And this is the sort of thing that
she is spending her time on.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
One of the guys online, the guy's name Uncle Sam
Over on the TikTok posted I'll tell it was funny.
She said she was going to fix the roads. That's
what he said. She said she was going to fix
the roads. And this this is what we got instead
of fixing the roads, which would be a big for business,
(04:55):
wouldn't it. It would be big for the state altogether,
the folks who drive on those roads every single day.
But she cares little about those folks and a lot
about I guess making TikTok future. It's just very strange
times that we live in now. I can I can
say that for sure. Kyle Olsen with US right Now
(05:16):
the midwestern or the Midwesterner dot News big debate this week.
We spoke with Mike Rogers about the debate afterwards and
kind of broke down some of the different things in
that debate. One of the biggest stories, and I thought
it was very interesting and well done the way they
did it. They had a website during the debate they
brought up talking about Alyssa Slotkin and the NDA that
(05:38):
she signed in this deal with the Chinese Communist Party
linked battery plant they're trying to put in up north
of Macosta County. She sort of lied, slippery like a snake,
sort of her way through this by only telling half
the truth. She said, I didn't sign in NDA and
essentially with the China company, but she did sign an
(06:01):
NDA on this deal. And you brought the receipts part
of the Midwesterners exclusive reporting on this and if you
guys haven't hadn't been reporting throughout all of this with Goshen,
I don't know who what have, but that that became
front and center in the end the debate the other night.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah, and it was interesting to see both the candidates
talking about EV mandates. That's another point where she's claiming,
you know, she doesn't support EV mandates, even though she's
consistently voted for Joe Biden's EV mandate agenda, and Mike Rodgers,
you know, pointed that out. But then when it came
(06:40):
to the NDAH, she she signed an NDA with the
m d C, the the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for
the Ghosten project. And and what is happening right now
if you're on social media, uh, the Detroit News is
(07:01):
really they're doing their best to explain away what Joscelyn
Benson did. What they excuse me, what Alyssus Lockin din?
I just want to talk about Joscelyn Benson today. And
what happened is that Alyssis Lockkin signed a non disclosure
agreement to keep the secrets of these companies that MEDC
(07:25):
is trying to bring into the state. And then there
was an amendment to that agreement that said it covered
any of the projects. Well, of course, any of the
projects includes Goshen. And so what she did is she
signed an agreement that said I am not going to
I am going to learn information about CCP Goshen. And
(07:49):
then because of this agreement, I am not going to
go tell the taxpayers of Michigan who Gretchen Whitmer and
the Democrats gave seven hundred and fifteen million dollars of
Michigan taxpayer money. I'm not going to share any details
with them. And so now what she's trying to do is,
and you pointed it out, is she used some sort
(08:11):
of CIA tactics on the viewers and said, I didn't
sign a non disclosure agreement with any Chinese government, any
Chinese entity, any Chinese company. That's the words. Those are
the words that she used. And so she didn't sign
an NDA with those things, but she signed an NDA
(08:35):
for those things, and so that that's the word game.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
People are so tired of all of this politicians throw
the bums out. Is that I is really, I think
right now, the way the sentiment, the way most people feel,
and it's just such a slick and stupid way of
trying to answer something that's so obviously provable in the
(08:59):
other direction and pulling by the way kind of looking
really interesting here, we've seen Democrats making some big mistake.
I think it's probably because they're getting desperate. Nothing seems
to be moving the needle. For Kamala and UH and
Democrats altogether. This is this is I think we're going
to see crazier things even more and more between now
(09:21):
an election day. I've been saying, it's not an October
surprise we're watching, but it's an October full of surprises.
But what do you make of the polling? President Trump
just here for the Detroit Economic Club and in all
things that are happening around the state, obviously including that
that race for for Senate as well.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah, it's really coming down to the wire. And as
you said, it doesn't seem like because I'm seeing, you know,
just tons of anti Trump messages and they don't according
to the polling, they don't really seem to be breaking
through landing. Yeah. Now, yeah, and so now Obama is
on the trail. He was, he was, you know, sort
(10:05):
of browbeating black Man yesterday. Bill Clinton is going to
be on the trail. So they're they're going to swoop
in and try to, you know, bail out Kamala. She
did that the town hall with Univision yesterday where she
was sort of using this Spanish accent. Apparently she teleprompter involved.
(10:28):
And that's what in the world is going on and
but but I think it shows she's not ready for
prime time. No, she stumbles through answers. She was on
the View the other day and she was asked, which
you know, you would think she would be prepared for,
but she was asked, what would you do differently than
Joe Biden? Because she keeps talking about how she's a
(10:49):
new generation and she's you know, turning the page and
all of that. So she guess, what would you do
differently than Joe Biden's something? Okay, all right, No.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
You can't make this stuff up. It's so incredibly it's
alike we're to me. It's like we're in an upside
down world and every day there's something new. By the way,
I'll tell you this, never enough time to get to everything.
If you want to stay up today, you got to
go to the midwesternor Dot News. I wish we had
more time to cover some of the stories out there,
(11:22):
but not only bookmarket, because there's all kinds of great,
hard hitting stuff obviously critical of Gretchen Wimer in that video,
but more importantly some of the things happening behind the scenes,
election news and Jocelyn Benson, the things that are happening
that you're just not going to hear about anywhere else.
Don't just book mark them, do that too, but also
put your information in your email so you could get
(11:45):
the updates and stay up to date no matter what
happens in the days ahead. Kyle Olsen at the Midwestern
