Speaker 2 (00:00):
On the line with us right now.
Speaker 1 (00:01):
No stranger to the program is our good friend Carla
Wagner at AX my tax and tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
We don't forget We've got elections. They want you to
forget about this, but these.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Are millages and things like that that Carla reached out
and said, hey, can I tell just just remind people
like to talk about this and remind people that these
are going on them are Carlo, good morning, appreciate you
taking the time.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Hey, justin good morning to you and thanks for having
me again. This is awesome, Thank you, my pleasure.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I know we don't have a lot of time, but
it is important. We wanted to do this Friday, but
again the breaking news kind of pulled us off track.
But you know, this is the thing that you are
E've been very good to remind people about, is that
you know these elections they hit you in the pocketbook
the hardest, the ones that we forget and spend less,
the least time aount of time on really focusing on.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
That is correct. And there's two points, because I know
our time is short. Justin two points that I want
to make for people today. Number One, call your talentship clerk,
your county clerk and ask for an automatic absentee ballot
and be mailed to your house every time there's an
election coming up. This is the only way that we
(01:12):
alert people to these small millages, these off off terms millages. Right,
So we have a vote tomorrow that's going to hit
a lot of the school districts across the state of Michigan.
And you know what, I can't believe how many people
don't know about it. And why don't they know about it?
(01:32):
Because they're not being told that there is something coming up.
We're also busy in our lives. People forget about these
little millages. But if they stay home and don't vote, no,
guaranteed their property taxes are going up. And no one
can afford that.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Right now, Yeah, now that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
We just talked with Tim Golding about actual taxes and
getting the tax cuts in and now more than ever,
you don't need to you don't need a tax increase,
and on your property taxes, that's a whole other issue.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
You can't get away from those.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
It is. And you're right, and here's the thing, and
again I'm not picking on anybody, but public schools are
funded by everybody, even the Christian school parents. Christian school
parents that pay tuition also have to pay public school,
probably through their property taxes. Right, so do elderly people,
the senior citizens. So do young families that have no
(02:24):
kids go to the homeschool parents. And you know what,
So when people go and say you have to vote
yes on this millage, this public school millage, it's for
the kids. The problem is it's a thirty year millage,
and you are saddling your kids with so much debt.
They will never be able to buy a house. That's
(02:44):
what's happening. Because there's a thirty year millage, and then
there's a twenty year millage, and a fifteen year millage
and another ten year millage, and those millages are piling
up to the point that our kids and grandkids will
never be able to own a home. Those miligs. It's
property taxes. Those are the reasons why people can't buy
houses right now or stay in houses. It's because of
(03:07):
property taxes.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
It's unthinkable. Look, I know, Color, we don't have a
lot of time left. But the main point was for
you to tell people about the millagist tomorrow, to get
out and make sure you're a breast of the information.
You're aware, but also I know that you'd like folks
to join the effort to ax my tax and you're
collecting petitions. How can folks help you right now?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yes, axmi tax dot org. Go to the website sign
up to help us circulate the petitions. We have until
the end of September to get six hundred thousand signatures.
We get this on the ballot, we go and vote.
They have to put it into play. We can eliminate
property tax and fund all of these services with all
(03:49):
of the other taxes that we send to the state.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
That's what we need to do.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Thank you so much, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
We'll have you back because we got I know people
have questions and I won't work through some of the
I'd like to have you back to get a little
bit better explanation of everything, and of course give folks
the tools they need here Carlo Wagner, always a pleasure.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Thank you. Justin have a great day.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
You got it.
