By from higha top Monroe Center in downtown Grand Rapids.
We're talking about what matters most to you in West Michigan.
Joined the Conversation now at six one six seven seven.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Four, twenty four twenty four.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
At six one six seven seven four twenty four twenty four,
It's West Michigan Live with Justin Barklay on Wood Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Welcome in, folks, Hey, big weekend, lots to discuss, and man,
oh man, it is uh. It's never a dull moment
like drinking from a firehouse. We have the latest new details.
In fact, some discuss with our good friend Dave Bondi,
who was on the scene yesterday in Grand Blank at
the scene of that attack at the church. Some eyewitness testimony,

(00:44):
some stories I think you're gonna want to hear. They
may shed some light on what exactly went down and
why yesterday. We'll get into all of that this morning.
We appreciate you being here with us, your phone calls
and more.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
In just a moment, weather and traffic, I'm big his
stories of the day. We are talking about what matters
most in West Michigan and beyond. This is the Big
Three now see speak.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, the stories of matamotiona be talking about these around
the water cool their dinner table. No matter where you are,
are good friends at Heartlett Home Mortgage. They've got away
and the team want to make sure that you're taking
care of whether you want to buy, refine, home, equity,
line of credit, whatever it might be. They've helped us
each and every time save thousands. Lots of other folks
listening to this program as well, and we've seen the

(01:34):
interest rates moving. Could they help you hhm lynding dot
com to find out more. Number one, is there a
piece still getting done today? Well, there's no confirm deal yet,
but momentum is building, Trump says Gaza. In the agreement,
there is close pressing that Nahu, the Prime Minister of Israel,
to commit to a twenty one point framework. He'll be

(01:57):
there at the White House today and they'll be discussing
that big storing National Guard on the ground. Another one
that the Guard is now on the ground in Portland,
two hundred troops activated under federal control to protect ice
and federal buildings have in rising threats to political violence
in Chicago. Meanwhile, the Guard on the ground not just yet,

(02:19):
but they do have a heavy armed federal agent presence
days they're patrolling the streets pardon of aggressive immigration enforcement
surge ordered by the President. And by the way, the
videos coming out of the people in Chicago's Zegg and Partland,
thank you for being here. It is really wild to watch.

(02:40):
Number some of those we'll get into coming up in
just a moment, and refers to the story that rocked the
entire state and the country yesterday as folks worshiping on Sunday.
More violence, this time an attack at a church in
Grand Blanc and what we know so far as a
man rammed his truck into the scene of the crime there,

(03:03):
went inside and open fire. Forty year old Thomas Jacob
Sanford his name. We have more information on him than
what exactly have right now. We know the numbers are
this four dead, eight wounded, unless we have updates. In fact,
as I mentioned, our good friend Dave Bondi with the latest. Dave,
good morning, how are you.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Hello, Good to see you, sir. Hopefully you can hear
me and see me.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Okay, you look great, you sound great as normal. This
story has been just another very sad story in Michigan,
but also throughout the country as well. I know you've
been talking to people on the ground. You were actually
there yesterday.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yeah, I live about forty five minutes from the scene.
Got the call early yesterday morning. I couldn't believe what
I was hearing, and then I turned on the police
scanner and it was utter chaos and pretty much everything
that we knows what you said right now. There could
be more victims today, possibly that are still in the rubble,
according to investigator. But the exclusive information that I had

(04:03):
last night. The shooter that you mentioned, they called. They
refer to him as Jake. His people who know him
Jake Sandford. He had a interaction with a man who's
running for Burton, Michigan City council last week. You know
when people who are running for office, they go door
to door and they shake hands. Well, this guy did

(04:24):
this last week and I interviewed him and he said
that this person Sandford, he just went off on the
Mormon Church and he just went off on wild tangents
and just berating the church. So this man did talk
to the FBI. So he says, in his opinion, that.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Is the motive.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
He said, it is not political, unlike what I'm hearing
on CNN or other networks. It was pure hate for
the church, Mormon Church as a whole.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I get a little bit of that clip if folks
want to hear it. This is from Dave Bondi's Bardy
from X and you can follow him all over. We'll
tell you where coming up. Keeping it real with Dave
Bond Mormonism.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
And he just made the position multiple times that Mormons
are the Antichrist and in not so many terms said
that several times. He gave me his background, but I
just walked away from a person who had some very
sharp views about Mormons.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
It's interesting. He's a candidate for office. There, he's knocking
doors doing canvassing. He just happens to come on this
guy's door and he gets an earful It sounds.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
Like, yeah, he walked up and he's like, WHOA, what
did I encounter? And he actually tried getting away from
the guy. He did not feel threatened. He didn't think
there was any reason to contact authorities. He thought it
was just a very weird individual. Looking back, obviously, he
wishes he would have, but he had his daughter with
him when he was going door to door, and the

(05:48):
guy did not want to talk about politics, left or right.
He only wanted to just go off on the church
and the candidate who I interviewed you that clip right there,
He just wanted to get get away from that home.
And then he didn't know. He didn't connect the dots
until they released his Sandford's mugshot on the news. And
that's when he messaged me because I had talked to

(06:11):
this man years ago when I was a reporter. So
and I'm just hoping that everyone can see this video
only to know. You know, I'm not saying it is
the motive, but it's very strong evidence that it could be.
CNN about an hour ago was still saying, we have
no idea what the motive is. Well, I wish they
would look at that interview.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
So because I heard him say, he did make over
some sort of report about this because he was he
was concerned. Who did he talk to?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
He called the church, Letter Day Saints. He has a
friend in Utah and he called there just to say
try to make sense of what this guy was saying. So,
looking back, maybe he should probably have called law enforcement.
I'm not second guessing him, but as you know, and
I know we come across wild people. You know, a

(07:03):
lot on my social media. I'm still continuing to get threats.
So I come across a lot of people and I
do contact law enforcement, but no, he contacted someone from
the church, not that church, the church in Utah, the
head of the Latter Day Thing.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
It started to know what what is serious and what
is it And it sounds like he did make an attempt.
So that's that's interesting. What did he say anymore about
what the beef was. I know, he's kind of a
loose He kind of walked around that in the actual clip,
but it sounded like there was something personal that pad happened,
or a personal experience he had had that led him

(07:41):
to be so critical.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
He said, apparently he was years and years ago dating
a woman who was better the Mormon church and something
had went sour.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
He said.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
The conversation was all over the place, and he tried
recounting it the best he could with me, but he
said it it.

Speaker 5 (07:59):
Was all over the place.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
He had to do something. He was dating, maybe a
woman in the church and he didn't like their beliefs
or something like that. That's kind of where he went
with it. But it's just weird. This may have happened,
he said, years and years ago and then just yesterday
just just snapped it. And I'm not saying this is
the motive, but it's just it's very, very bizarre. And
obviously he believed this man, you know, suffering from mental illness.

(08:25):
He's also in a rocky war veteran. But it gleaned
a lot into this and after he did the interview
with me, he immediately talked to the FBI, so he
he the FBI briefed him last night, and he briefed
the FBI on the conversation, Dave.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I know there's there's more details that are probably going
to be coming out about this story, but you just
touched on one that I think it's important. There's still
the maybe folks missing. They're still looking for people, is
that right?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Yeah, I'm hearing from law enforcement down there. There's there.
They're reporting seven people missing, but it may not be
that many because there may be a communication issue where
certain people had loved ones they couldn't find yesterday and
they haven't reported it to police yet. But there is
the possibility that there are victims, maybe still the bodies

(09:15):
trapped in the fire because the building just went up
in flames. He poured gasoline it ignited quickly. So unfortunately,
there's still may be people's loved ones trapped in that building.
That's not confirmed yet. I believe we're hopefully gonna have
a news conference today.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
If you have never followed Dave, he spent years in
local TV news and reported on stories all the time
until just recently a few years back, where he saw
things really change and he said he'd had enough, so
he went out on his own. And now Dave is
giving us great stories, information, and some of the stories

(09:52):
you won't hear anywhere else. That's why we wanted to
talk to him today because I can ask you, this
is not a story and not an angle report that
you're going to get on the nightly? Is there anywhere
else for that matters? Like you said, Dave, seeing any
saying we still don't know what possibly the motive is,
and yet we have some information into that.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Yeah, just play my interview. But as I dealt with yesterday,
there were a lot of media media I used to know,
they won't talk to me anymore. Even out at the
scene yesterday, they shunned me even they wouldn't even talk
to me.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Wow, that is incredible, David. Folks want to follow you.
Where's the best place, because I know you're all over.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yeah, everywhere ex Twitter, people still call it just Dave Bondi,
Dave bo and d Why. My number one is Locals.
I'm on their Dave Bondy or substack Dave bo and
d Why because Locals and substack are free speech platforms,
no censorship, no algorithm.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
You know all about that.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Oh man, do we ever? Thank you? Brother? I appreciate it.
Will you come back and let us know if you
have any more information in this?

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Will do?

Speaker 5 (10:57):
I'll text you today?

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Here are your headlines from the Midwesterner this Monday, September
twenty ninth.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
I'm Robin Hoffman.

Speaker 6 (14:19):
It's a Midwesterner dot news original story here in Michigan,
Republicans in the House trying to put an end to
the kind of antics Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson
has been engaged in legislation designed to prevent Benson from
repeating previous violations of campaign finance laws. Is moving closer
to clearing the lower chamber. House Bill forty six forty

(14:42):
two moved out of the House Rules Committee and is
awaiting a vote on the House floor. Unthinkable tragedy near Flint,
Michigan is a man Ramsay's truck into a Mormon church
and start shooting people with a rifle. Four churchgoers killed
eight injured. Then the man setting the building on fire.
This eyewitness telling.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Reporters he pointed his gun at our car and fired
three shots.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Two of them went through our windshield and just missed me.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
Police killing the forty year old gunman in the parking lot.
For these stories and more, visit the Midwesterner at the
Midwesterner dot news.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
I uh, I gotta tell you some of the stories
and and the interviews from people. In fact, this guy
in Portland is so happy to see help in the
form of the Trump administration arrive on the scene. They
are in Chicago too. There's more and more of these
coming out.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
I'm so happy that Trump is setting the National Guarden here.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
I've lived, actually we both live in We've been asking.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
For help for months. Look at that he's got a
Trump twenty twenty four Shore. Can you imagine walking around
in in Portland like that. That's got That's got to
take a little bit of you know, wave of those
friend sharrows. I think, say, finally gonna get it. She's

(16:06):
so happy. I got clip after clip I'm gonna get
to similar to these coming up today because there are
people are just happy to see finally on the scene.
Should we get that in Detroit? Should we see the
National Guard come in and help crime, because you know
that there's we've been hearing Detroit so wonderful while in
pockets and lots of places of crime the murder rates

(16:28):
still horrific. Would we benefit for that? That's a conversation
for our next guest coming up, who's running for governor
here in Michigan. We'll hear from him and see what
he says. You know, I think it's it makes sense. Yeah,
I want to because people to say, well, you know,
especially we'll see Pritzker in Illinois and the mayor of Chicago,

(16:49):
and even they see they said, well, our numbers are
getting better. Yeah, but if you could get the numbers
better immediately instead of a slow, sort of pathetic clime,
you could get an immediate difference made, wouldn't that Wouldn't
that be great? Wouldn't that be better? Anyway? I certainly

(17:10):
think so, especially people that live there would would say so.
And people that are victims of those crimes, people that
have been victims of the murders in places like Detroit,
that homicide rate again through the roof. Wouldn't you think
they would prefer that I tend to believe that's probably

(17:31):
the case. All right, quick break back with more in moments.
You can join the program at anytime. Don't forget the
talk back feature on the iHeartRadio app. Just click that
little microphone button next to the play button. Rant raves
sound off. Thanks to the folks at MKD Funeral Homes.
Back after this, don't go anywhere. Check our news bottom

(17:55):
the hour. We'll have more next. Welcome back, folks, and
of course more coming up in just moments. Here as
the stories that matter most, the ones you won't hear
anywhere else, we get a chance to talk about and
with folks that are right in the middle of them.

(18:16):
In fact, he's in the middle of a run for
governor here. Pastor Ralph Freeban is no stranger to that.
In fact, he is run before lots of folks. Welcome
him back into the race. Pastor, thank you so much
for such a time as this. It would seem, first
of all, welcome in. But I want to ask you
about what happened over the weekend, and just from a

(18:38):
perspective as a pastor, of this horrific attack on this
church here in Graham Blank. These types of things aren't
and I hate to say this, but they aren't. They're
not uncommon these days.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
That's correct.

Speaker 7 (18:54):
In fact, if you look at the statistics, more people
have died in church shootings than on college campuses. It's
just horrific. And as one when I was a pastor
in Farmington Hills, we made sure that we had a
team of people that were prepared, that were carrying because
we didn't want to have this kind of disaster at

(19:14):
our church. And I would just encourage every pastor who's
out there listening to this to get a qualified team together.
There are groups out there that will help train. I
remember going through training with the Michigan State Police as
a chaplain for the Michigan Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
The police.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
We had some really good training with them, probably about
ten years ago. And when I'm governor, we're going to
institute that back and it was very valuable, very helpful.
You know, we had as chaplain for the police, we
had several officers that came to our church every Sunday
and they would carry their weapons. We also had a
gentleman who could shoot a dime from about twenty yards away.

(19:53):
That's really incredible. I saw with my own eyes. So anyway, Yeah,
churches have to be prepared for this. And my heart
is broke for these people in Grand Blanc. I just
I preached yesterday in Greenville, Michigan, and I was just
blown away when I heard about it later in the afternoon.
I just couldn't believe it that that Christians are under

(20:13):
attack and we see it all over the place. And
if pastors don't see that, we've got an issue because
not only are people being attacked, but primarily it appears
to be Christians of recent so we have to be
prepared for that.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Well, and you're absolutely right, Pastor, what do you what
do you say to folks? I mean, you put this
alongside all the other big stories of the day, and
also the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk as well. How
do people make sense of this? Or I don't even
know if that's what? If that's some of that's possible,

(20:50):
and particularly people of faith.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
Yeah, that's a really good question, justin you know, I'll
answer that in just one second. Vote to Charlie Kirk
Memorial over in Shelby Township, and I had gone and
I think it's about eight that I've been at. I've
probably spoke at almost half of them, or maybe half
of them. And I've just noticed that a lot of

(21:14):
these events really aren't dealing with the emotions of people.
And so when I spoke in Shelby Township, I said
to the folks, I said, you know, after this is over,
I'd be willing to stand and talk to anyone who
wants to know how I dealt with it and how
I'm still dealing with it, because we knew Charlie personally,
and it was just it was hard. It was just
difficult to process because he's the last guy that I

(21:36):
would have ever thought would have been assassinated. Let me
add Martyred as a Christian, He's the last one that
I would have imagined that happening to. But afterwards there
was a line that we stayed till like two and
a half hours after the event ended, talking to people,
helping them process. So to answer that question, because everybody's

(21:57):
wondering that our you know, in our else, well, first
of all, if I didn't have faith in Almighty God,
I would wonder what's going on, and I would think
we are totally out of control. And what we've seen
throughout scripture over and over again is what we see
in Genesis chapter fifty where Joseph tells his brothers, you

(22:17):
meant it for evil, but God turned it for good.
And somehow, I know people who are faith listening to
this will know that when something difficult comes into our
lives like this and so horrific, we can look back
five years from now, three years from now, maybe six
months from now and say, God use that He's so

(22:39):
powerful that he was able to turn that evil into good.
And I have seen that, you know, even just an
example with Charlie. He had like two thousand chapters across
the United States, then he was assassinated, and there are
now sixty five thousand over maybe over at this point,
maybe over sixty five thousand us to start new chapters.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
And so you know, they have no idea what they've unleashed.

Speaker 7 (23:06):
And we are seeing some positive i'll say revival going
on right now with gen z ors and millennials, people
who've been lied to about life, about gender, about ortion,
and they're really waking up because Charlie told them the truth.
And so the truth to the bottom line is justin

(23:26):
the truth is God is still in control and he
is able to take the evil that was just happening
in grand blank and somehow he's going to use it
for good. I don't know at this moment how he's
going to do that. I mean, my heart's heavy.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
You even know.

Speaker 7 (23:42):
The Putman family, they you know, they're strong patriots and
just lost three of their family members in a car accident,
and you just wonder, what is all of this going on?
I mean, this is demonic, This is horrible.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
And yeah, there's so much of that in the world.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
World.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
You know, we talk about a lot of times who
we need and who can come save us, and a
lot of that. Uh, you know, I'm sure you can
speak on that as well. Yeah, there's a lot of
a lot of conversation. We need a businessman, we need uh,
you know, somebody get this government back on track. Right.
We've seen that with President Trump. Although I think he's
bringing lots of different skills to the table. One question

(24:24):
might be why a pastor and knowing what I know about,
you know, how church is run and how things have
to do. I mean there's a lot of hats.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
It is kind of like a general you know. I
mean you you are kind of like you are kind
of like uh really in your in your own sort
of uh, you know army there, uh in a lot
of ways bring a lot to tim. Maybe you can
speak on that as what Michigan needs and why you're
ready to uh to step up.

Speaker 7 (24:53):
Well, if I could first address yeah, if I could
first address the issue of a we need a businessman.
You know, mastors are CEOs of an organization. And you know,
I've been a small business owner. I've started businesses from scratch.
I've been part of Labor's.

Speaker 5 (25:12):
Union Michigan, the.

Speaker 7 (25:15):
Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union, the Metal Workers Union. I've
been involved in so many things justin I'm not just
a pastor.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
I have so much experience.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
I ran a plant in Pennsylvania when I was in seminary,
from production to shipping.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
You know, there's just so much. And as a pastor,
when you start.

Speaker 7 (25:36):
A church, which is what we did, you've got to
have a vision, You've got to have a plan, you've
got to have a budget, all of the things that
are necessary.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
A church is a small business.

Speaker 7 (25:46):
And we ended up starting three daughter churches from that,
working the same program. They're successful today. My compatriots in
ministry elected me to be the chairman of a regional
Church Planting Committee. I was as chair for twenty some
years overseeing new churches in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Canada, and so,

(26:07):
you know, there's so much business background that I have
bringing it to it. But you know, when I look
at what's going on, I really am still convinced that
the message that we had in twenty twenty two when
I was running for governor is even now more relevant.
That we have to get back to God's ordained institutions,

(26:28):
We have to get back to restoring the family because
all of this stuff, if you look at everything that's
going on, it boils down, It really does boil down
to the disintegration of the family. And when you think
about that, if you go back and you look at
the goals of the Communist Party for America, one of
them was to disintegrate the family through pornography, through causing

(26:50):
children to distrust their parents, through having them listen to
teachers more than their parents. I mean, these are all
verbatim points that were listed for the Communists goals for America.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Yeah, and you know, I think, you know, it's interesting
used to be when you talk that way. Oh maybe
some people would understand, and most of most of folks
might say, yeah, no, I don't know about that, but
I think it's it's really it's become more obvious than
ever before, hasn't it.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
Really? It really has.

Speaker 7 (27:23):
In fact, on I seventy five, heading south from northern Michigan,
there was a billboard I think it was Communist goal
twenty seven.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
They had. All it had was Communist goal.

Speaker 7 (27:34):
For America number twenty seven, get to get controls of
the schools and the doctrinate the children. And I don't
know who put that billboard up, but somebody's getting in it,
and somebody put that up, because that is reality.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
I mean, you know, we.

Speaker 7 (27:47):
Talk about socialism, but we are really on a trajectory,
especially you look at Mondamia in New York City. We're
on a trajectory toward communism. And the only thing that
can stop that is people of faith. Because it's not.

Speaker 5 (28:00):
About the group.

Speaker 7 (28:01):
It's not about LBGTQ rights, it's not about women rights,
it's about as our constitutional founders stated, it's about individual rights.
And so that's that's what Christianity promotes, you know, as
we talk about how our faith affects what we believe,
Jesus Christ came to save individuals and he came to
redeem them.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
He came to show forgiveness.

Speaker 7 (28:23):
And you know, when you think of what Erica Kirk
said on this you know, a week ago Sunday, I
was really hoping and praying she would say that. But
in all honesty, if she didn't forgive the killer, I
would have If she didn't say anything, I don't mean
didn't forgive. If she hadn't said anything, I would have
understood that. But my prayer was that in her heart

(28:45):
she would have expressed that.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
And you you.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
Know, we're just right now in America, we are polarizing.
There are two different groups out there. There are people
who want to burn cities down when somebody dies, and
there are people who want to pray and give forgiveness.
And that's where we are as Christians. And that's why
that message is so huge. There's not another religion in
the world that promotes that kind of forgiveness other than Christianity.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Ralph Freeban pastor there running for governor here in Michigan.
Where can folks find out more, get information and follow
you maybe a volunteer, donate, et cetera.

reban R E B A N D T reband for
governor dot com. That'll take you to our website. That'll
take you to the launch video. And we really justin,

(29:44):
We really have a vision. It's bigger than anything else.
We want to bring the golden Age of Michigan here
and we want to see safety for our children. We
want to see a robust economy, and we have a
plan to reduce the budget. I mean, the Republicans did
an incredible job identifying FTEs full time employees that the

(30:05):
various departments were asking for, and they never did, like
for inial corrections took their money that they were supposed
to use to hire employees. The Corrections department put it,
I think it was a two hundred and fifty thousand
dollars edition onto a prison, I mean, misuse of funds.
But we have a plan to even reduce the budget

(30:25):
more so we're excited about it. And that's what creative
thinking does. Thinking out of the box. As you all know.
I'm not a politician. I'm not going in as a politician.
I'm not looking to climb the political ladder to the
next rung. As one person said, they're supporting me because
I'm a problem solver, not a political ladder climber.

Speaker 2 (30:45):

original story Republican lawmakers in the Michigan House trying to
put an end to the kind of antics Secretary of
State Democrat Jocelyn Benson has been engaged in. The legislation
is designed to prevent Benson from repeating previous violations of

campaign finance laws. House spill forty six forty two moved
out of the House Rules Committee was searing the vote
on the House floor.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
There is a couple additional bodies that we've discovered in
the church, so that makes our total victim count up
to four.

Speaker 6 (32:27):
In other news, a crazed gunman attack some Mormon church
on Sunday near Flint. The man driving his truck straight
into the building and then starts shooting people with a rifle.
He kills four and injures eight, and then police say
he sets the church on fire, burning it down. Police

(32:50):

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Yeah, looking for solutions right now. Lots of folks are
understand that, especially in this age, you ever wish you
could just pause the noise, and that's much of what
the news is nowadays, right noise, and maybe plug into
some ideas that really matter for your faith, for your family,

(33:19):
for your future. Well, this fall, Cornerstone University is launching

small group and be a part of you're going to
want to get on over and get registered. So here's
the website Cornerstone dot edu slash Wisdom Conversations Cornerstone dot edu.
Go to Wisdom Conversations. Register there, reserve your spot and

(34:46):
don't miss the chance to be a part of a
conversation that matters. That's just for you, for your family,
your faith, for your community, and this nation folks. It is.
It's another big one and grateful to be a part
of it. Okay, So lots happening here behind the scenes

(35:07):
as we continue our conversation. As a matter of fact,
it's the fastest hour in radio. We're flying through another
one and of course love to have you be a
part of our after show coming up today. We got
lots coming together. One of the questions is what in
the world is happening in Michigan's police force. We're going
to talk about this. In fact, it's it's not just

(35:31):
the entire state. It's it's one particular community, dear Warren,
that has come under fire once again. I don't know
if you saw this, but very interesting piece that came
out the other day where they they had the new
police badge or patch that they were going to put
on the uniforms for these folks, and there was there

(35:52):
was a lot of Arabic riding on it. Folks really
reacted kind of the way you would think they would
and it wasn't a done deal, but they pulled that
in a hurry. Now, the Dearborn, Michigan police chief is
quoted raising some eyebrows here saying all praise is due
to Allah. By the way, the numbers, which I think

(36:15):
is probably good to note, is what he's talking about.
That's who is on the police force and how many
people are serving on the police force. This has got
people little concerned, and you know, for obvious reasons. But
here he is.

Speaker 8 (36:29):
When I joined the department, Deerborn's Arab American population was
nearly fifty percent, yet yet less than three percent of
our police.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Now a department that reflects and.

Speaker 8 (36:38):
Embraces the community it serves with forty five percent of
our Arab our officers being Arab American. Hamda La, hamda La.
I'm proud to serve as your chief of police.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
It's really I mean, it really is a it's a
question and we're going to tackle this a little bit
further on in the after show. But it's a question
of you know, what what is happening in and look,
people of faith. Obviously it's a different faith, but I'm
glad to see that some sort of well, I guess

(37:14):
I could tell you that way. It's some people of
obviously a clearly different ideology and background, but it's a
different faith altogether. But there are people that have faith,
people that don't have faith at all. You might say
to yourself, what do they stand for? What does it
come from? And the secularization a lot of it happening
in this country and of course throughout the world, has

(37:36):
been big part of the problem. Not always people are
asking about what's happening in Dearborn. There's a bigger issue.
It's not just that faith that they're tied to. There's
a bigger issue of what's happening behind the scenes that
I think needs to be addressed. We're going to get
into that coming out in the after show. I got
lots of clips, in fact, clips coming in from Chicago

(37:58):
where people are being the ice agents, the federal authorities
coming through and people there are just so thrilled to
see a couple of ladies. They're sitting down outside a
restaurant and these folks are walking through and wanted. As
they say thank you to these men, one of the

(38:19):
one of the men says, we work for you, work
for you. What A what A what a wild moment
to see. But they are, they are on the ground
there in Chicago and Portland as well. We'll talk more
about that in the after show. The show after the
show coming up, so they'll go anywhere, folks. We are
back with more. The going Back program is up next.

(38:42):
We'll see you back here tomorrow. All the stories we
talked about, you can get them in the stack at
justin Barclay dot com. Check out the after show, Facebook, Twitter, Acts, Rumble,
get our locals, YouTube, you name it. We're all over

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
