Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mike Rodgers is with us right now and he's running
for senate here in Michigan. And in fact, we're just
talking about this behind the scenes live stream, which is
it's just a new technology, man, you got to do this.
So we stream on Facebook and Rumble and Getter and
locals and you did any basically any place you can stream,
we stream this thing. I love it and uh and

(00:22):
that way people get to watch and see the behind
the scenes last year, like us getting set up behind
the scenes, which is kind of funny, but you you know,
you know, stranger to the behind the scenes. You guys
are working right now. You're out there talking to folks.
I've been seeing how many beethleists as you've been out
just stopping the pavement, trying to shake some hands, kiss
some babies and all that stuff. Round two here, tell

(00:43):
us about it because you made the decision. We think
we talked to you since Denn it's great. Look, let's
talk about that. What went into the decision and where
what are you hearing out on the end the streets
right now?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yeah, well, this feels so much better even than the
first time. Uh, you know, people warmed up later in
that cycle We're not having that problem now, So we're
getting people signing up. Now, we're getting our volunteers to
do our ground game, which will be you know, the
mother of all ground games here coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
People are jumping on board.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
You know, before we'd have to drag you out in
the street to have it, you know, just get a
chance to talk to you.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
We just don't have that problem this go around, which
is great.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I think people got to know who we are, They
got to know my character, they got to know what
I stand for. You know. The hard thing in a
political environment is everybody else wants to tell you who
I am and what I'm all about. We have a
chance now to get through all that, which is great.
So we're building out our team. We looked at the

(01:41):
numbers and listen, if we'd have gotten beat by three points,
my wife and I talked about this. We just said,
you know what, got our fannies handed to us somebody
else's turn, But we didn't. We came as close as
we've come in thirty two years to winning this seat,
and we did some amazing things. We got more Republican
votes than any other Michigan state wide candidate in the

(02:04):
history of the state, including all the governors that won
number one and number two. We came closer to Trump voats,
so nobody got exactly the Trump votes he always overperforms
on every ballot he's on. We came closer to Trump
votes on Trump votes than any of the other competitive
US Senate seats, including the three that won. So when

(02:25):
you start looking at those numbers, your Trump voters not
our problem.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Republican voters, which included lots of independence, wasn't our problem.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
There were one hundred and some thousand, we think about
one hundred and thirty thousand people who walked in voted
for Donald Trump and then left. That was certainly something
we could have used a few thousand votes. I mean,
two hundred and thirty votes per county is what we
lost by. And so we looked at all of that
and said, here's what's interesting. We have to get eighty

(02:55):
five percent of people who already know who I am,
who already voted for us, to come back to the
poll in the midterm and send Donald Trump some help.
We think that's absolutely doable, and that's why the ground
game becomes so, so so important, And we've got an
outside group, says they're going to come in and help
us build out our ground game with a pretty sizable number.

(03:16):
They were in Ohio and in Pennsylvania last go round,
both of those candidates won. They're coming to Michigan this
go round. After they said, Rogers of your in, we're in.
So I'm in therein and we're going to build out
this ground game. And that's it's important for even your listeners.
They were part of that two point seven million voters,
or at least most of them were, and that's what

(03:38):
is going to make the difference in this go round.
We're going to get that two point three roughly million
voters to come back. Out of that two point seven
we win. It's about fifty one percent in a midterm.
So we looked at all those numbers. That's why the
national folks have endorsed. That's why the National Republican Senate
Committee said, you have to do this.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Your name idea is great.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Despite all the negative advertising, our positive are up. I'm
not sure how that happened, but it did, which is
really great news for us.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Mike Roger's in with us right now and running for
Senate again. Here let's let's let's talk about what's happening
today because you're here on an interesting day.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Yeah, we just.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Got that big, beautiful bill that came through passing the
House last night. So this, I think this sort of
speaks to what's happening in the importance of you know,
twenty six great, big beautiful bill.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
It's a beauty. There's never been a bill like this one.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
We got to have folks who are going to support
the president and his agenda in Congress, and whether that's
the House or the Senate, you see how close the
margins are to get these things moving forward.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
And that's why I think they're they're looking for somebody
to come and help the president.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
I say, he took the beachhead, and now you need.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Big army to come in and take some ground, including
legislating on his executive orders. Because if we don't do that,
guess what the next president comes in could on do
all of it. And so you need to make it
as hard on Democrats to undo the good things like
a secure border, like the deregulation proposals that are in
those executive orders, the energy production that are in those

(05:13):
executive orders. We need all of that to be legislated.
And so you need to build the team in the
United States Senate to do exactly that. And this bill,
you know, look at that, and this just tells you
the void of honesty with the Democrat Party today. I
don't even think they know who they are today. You know, say, oh,
you're cutting Medicaid, cutting medicaid. They're taking people who are

(05:38):
ineligible to receive Medicaid, who are getting medicaid today.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Off the rules.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
That's not cutting medicare We're getting roped. The American people
are getting ripped off. There's a lot of ways for
an abuse happening completely. People who need it should be
getting it completely.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
This protects the people who need it, you know, the elderly, poor,
the children of of economically challenged families out there. They're
all going to continue to get Medicaid, but able bodied
people who can work will have to have work requirements.
Number one and number two. Illegal immigrants are on this

(06:13):
on Medicaid and huge numbers. Why should we pay for that?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
It's I think both the share points the media and
of course you know this is always going to happen,
but the media and Democrats, but I repeat myself, they
know they're not honest about this and you know, I
know that's a tough fight, but it takes folks that
are like listening to this program. Make sure that you
share what you're hearing with other folks, that people understand

(06:35):
this and they can get these stories out there to people.
And it takes you know, Mike, you're going around talking
to people and having these conversations with people.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, completely, and again making it more efficient, taking illegal
immigrants off of medicaid, and people who can.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Work should have work requirements. Think about that. That's what
the proposal does.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
It's doesn't come in and cut and hack for people
who are are economically challenged with you know, the elderly, poor,
children of destitute families. They're all going to continue to
get Medicaid. And by the way, Medicare got a three
percent increase. So they also will tell you every two years,
oh my gosh, they're going to cut Medicare.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
They're going to cut So none of that is true.
None of that is true.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
What they're doing is finally making it you know, getting
with that waste fraud abuse, and they're taking people who
shouldn't be collecting medicaid in these states. And by the way,
if the state of Michigan wanted to go ahead and
pay for illegal immigrants, they could do it where it.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Really happens is California.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
And if they want to go ahead and continue to
pay for illegal agreements, they can use their state dollars
to do it. I think it's a terrible idea, but
they can do it if they want. That's why they're screaming.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah, let me let me ask you, because we've seen
a heck of a first hundred days. We get divided.
We went to the White House and talk with folks
there about it, everything that's happened. So what has happened
off to a big start, but also looking down that
road to what needs to happen next. We're saying this
one big, beautiful bill, and I know you know, not
everything's going to get done in this thing. This is

(08:08):
just a budget to get us to the next step.
And I understand there may be some frustration, but a
lot of patients. I've got a lot of patients because
I'm watching all the other great things that are happening.
And now it's a process. So what are those next
steps that are coming? And that you'll be in supportive
as as we send another one of the good guys

(08:28):
into Congress.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yeah, so we're going to have to continue to rein
in federal spending size and scope.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
They didn't get all everything they wanted. They did rein
it back a bit.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
It's not everything we wanted, certainly not everything I wanted,
but I do believe it was an important first step.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
So this is a process.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
You've got to get back in that horse and start
this fight again for what the next.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Year's budget looks like. So we're going to have to.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Restructure the way our military is designed to fight what's
coming at us. So you think about cyber threats and
drone threats. You know, shipbuilding is going to be very,
very important in the next few years, and we're going
to ramp it up. By the way, Michigan should be
a piece of that. If you notice, even on the
Golden Dome, we weren't even mentioned. We used to be

(09:14):
the arsenal of democracy. You know why we have two
Democrat senators who have been there for thirty two years.
They think the same way, they talk the same way,
and they vote the same way. And guess what they're
not delivering for the people of Michigan. They're not putting
Michigan first. So those are the kinds of things that
are going to happen next. Next year's budget's going to
be another battle. The year after is going to be

(09:37):
another battle. And what we don't want. This is why
this election is so important. We've got to get our
state right. So we're going to need a Republican governor
in a Republican state Senate in a Republican House to
help us undo what Gretchen Whitmer and the Democrats have
done to the state making us uncompetitive.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
That's has to happen. Well, same thing in the Senate.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
I want the state of Michigan to be the recipient
of all this reshoring that's getting ready to happen, and
we're seeing parts of that happen. I talked to a
guy who is putting on a second shift for the
first time in twenty five years because automobile companies are
trying to reshore here in the United States. That's a win,
that's a win for Michigan. But we have to make

(10:18):
ourselves ready for that those wins and so all of
that is going to continue to happen, and making sure
we keep getting after fraud and waste. I don't think
we got it all the first cut, and I think
there's a lot more to do and to modernize it
so you don't have ten people operating a fax machine
in Washington.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Saw something incredible that we spend one hundred million dollars
a year. This was this morning, a Sola stat one
hundred million dollars a year. Go go check this, But
one hundred million dollars a year on phone lines that
we don't use.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Yeah, the government.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
That's incredible. And it's little things like that that are
eating away at your future, at your children's future, at
your grandchildren's future completely.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Did you see the deal with credit cards?

Speaker 2 (11:00):
The federal employees have on average two credit cards each,
and they found in a quick audit that they were
on New Year's Eve going to strip clubs and bars
and restaurants and charging the government and apparently no one
checked it, and so it was literally tens of millions
of dollars. So if you think about phone lines, make

(11:21):
sure we're not using fax machines. I'm sorry, we don't
need fax machines in twenty twenty five to do business
in the government.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Make sure that those credit cards get taken away.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
If in my argument, by the way, if you're a
supervisor and let that happen, you should be fired too.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
There's just no accountability. It was just easy money. It
was always flowing.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
They never saw it as the people who sent that
money in us. If we need people who look at
it like, hey, that's our money and we need to
spend that money the way we have to spend our money,
which is pretty tight on the dollar. And so I
think there's so much more that has to be done.
It can be done, and the president's not done with
his agenda. Let's help them get it done. And this

(12:01):
legislating on executive orders is going to take some time.
It's not going to get done tomorrow or next year,
but that process needs to start and when I get there,
we're going to make sure that it gets completed.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Mike Rogers running for Senate here in Michigan, and folks

Speaker 2 (12:31):
We've been in the up, we've recruited former Trump forced
captains to help us in this next election.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
What we need I think is really important.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
If I can take this one second, yep, this is
people have said, oh, we elected Trump, it's all done.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
It is not all done. This fight is going to
be going on.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
You can already see where the Democrats are coming at
this thing. We need to win in twenty twenty six.
We need people to get fired up about saying, hey,
we're going to change our state by electing a Republican
governor and we're gonna send finally, after thirty two years,
a rational, common sense conservative voice to the United States
Senate to represent Michigan and take care of Michigan issues.

(13:12):
We just haven't had that, and so that's why this
election is so important. Don't give up, don't get complacent.
