Speaker 1 (00:00):
On the phone with us right now. Tim Golding AFP
with us and man oh Man. We've got news out
of DC. We're keeping that track of as well. Tim,
welcome in. We appreciate you being.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Here, Thanks for having me justin. How you doing today?
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Fantastic. So we've seen a lot of good things happen
in those first one hundred days, and yet there's still
lots more work to do. You're focused on some of
that as well.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yeah, hopefully I'll get them this stuff codified and not
just executive orders. But we're focused on the Tax Cuts
and Jobs Act that was made permanent or was connected
the first time in twenty seventeen, and AFP was proud
to support that then, but at sunset at the end
of this year, so that needs to get passed. Right now,
the House and the Senator are doing their reconciliation dance,
(00:43):
and we are taking four business owners from Michigan to
DC today for an event tomorrow with Congressman Lisa McClain
and Katie Pavlich from Fox News, and they're going to
be able to tell their stories, ask some questions, and
hear about the record faciliation process and what's going on
in the timelines and so forth, and then we'll here
(01:07):
and be able to see what it means for families
if it doesn't get extended, what it means for businesses
if it doesn't get extended. So a lot of stuff's
going on. We just need some of the stuff to
get turned into law and not just executive orders and
the tax cuts and jobs X needs to get extended.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Yeah, this is a critical piece of the full plan,
by the way, as you mentioned a lot of these
things that are happening right now in DC trying to
get everything back on track. This is a big piece.
Got to have these tax cuts, and it's a big,
big part of it. Now, you mentioned this that you're
taking folks there. But if I can't go, and I'm
(01:43):
sitting back in my own easy chair, I can watch
this online.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
It sounds like you absolutely can. We're going to have
events in Michigan, one and Grand Rapids, one in Detroit
and one in Landing where people can go and watch
the live YouTube stream. Can go to our Facebook page
on Americans for Prosperity Michigan and find a link to those.
But yeah, if you can't obviously make it to DC,
(02:08):
we want everybody to hear this and share this knowledge
of what the good people are doing. And Lisa McLean
and her colleagues in Washington, so you can see it. Listen,
if you come to one of our events, it's free,
there'll be food, they'll be drink. You can go there
and meet some new like minded individuals, some patriots, and
see what we're doing.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
But claim's one of the best. Obviously. Pavilege is great too,
and a great conversation that certainly needs more I think
more focused obviously on all the great things that have
happened in the first one hundred days, but still yet
more work to do. Tim, As you mentioned, these tax
cuts they got to go through. This will be a
big part of turning things around. Anything else you guys
(02:48):
have your eye on at AFP while we got you.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Just energy and taxes, education stuff, some medical healthcare freedom.
Those are the things that we focus on them. But
the most pressing thing at this time is the TCJA
because again, as you know, if this doesn't get made
it permanent and extended, then Americans are going to see
the largest tax site they've ever seen in the history
(03:14):
of this grand country, and Michigan families will be paying
an average of twenty one hundred dollars more in their
federal tax bill come next.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Year, at the worst time possible for it all too.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, we just came through an awful four years of
what ended up being like twenty percent of elect collective
inflation rate and IRA and all the stuff that Biden
did to drive the economy right in the toilet, and
we're coming out of that. It's going to take a while.
It's a long term gain, but people definitely do not
(03:44):
need their taxes going up personally or corporately in the
next year. That would be very discrimental for our country.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Tim Goldi, Americans for Prosperity again. If people want to
watch that online, will make sure that they get links
to where to watch, and of course be a part
of that conversation, make sure that we get what we
need done there because there's well there's not a lot
of time to spare on this stuff. Tim, thank you
so much for taking the time to be here with
us again. America's Prosperity over on Facebook and we'll put
(04:14):
the links up on the stack a little later on today.
Always a pleasure, my friend. Well, have you back on too,
Sorry for the you know, the breaking news today kind
of cut our time short, but we'll do it again
and we'll get an update as as the days go on.
Thank you brother,
