Speaker 1 (00:01):
Buy from higher Top Monroe Center in downtown Grand Rapids.
We're talking about what matters most to you. When West
Michigan joined the conversation Now at six one six seven
seven four twenty four twenty four. At six one six
seven seven four twenty four twenty four, it's West Michigan
Live with Justin Barklay on Wood Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
What come in massive trade? This today a big deal
which China just announced, China jump making headlines there and
GM announces it four billion dollars. They're going to stand
to make vehicles in America again. And that's just scratching

(00:42):
the surface. We've got more. James Dixon joined us this
morning as well, coming out. But first please Rock if you're.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Able, I'll be that name that kingdom come.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
What'll be done?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Us Weather and Traffic, His stories of the day. We
are talking about what matters most in West Michigan and beyond.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
This is the Big three.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Now see Speak three.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yes and these stories, no matter most you have been
talking about these around the water, cool the beer table,
no matter where you are, these are those stories, all
powered by good friends at Heartland Home Mortgage dam for
Galloway and the team. Whether you want to buy or
refine home equity line of credit. Every time we've worked
with David a team, we've stayed thousands. It's incredible. They're faster,

(02:56):
they're better than the big bank. And lots of folks
who listening to this program know that as well as
that used them to reach out today at HHM lending
dot com. Number one, it's it's a new day. At
a curfew overnight in La. The mayor setting that curfew

(03:18):
because there was more expensive violence, more issues. And you
know the thing that she was most concerned about, surprisingly
and hot is the is the is the graffiti looting.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Many businesses have now been affected by our vandalized last night.
There were twenty three businesses that were looted. And I
think that if you drive through downtown La, the graffiti
is everywhere.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Is that That's just that's just folks at their protesting
for immigration, right, That's that's all we're watching. Okay, big
massive moves being made in fact today, two big announcements.
President Trump just making the announcement that they've got a

(04:05):
deal China. China has just announced the deal apparently reached
the deal. And I think these these talks were happening
over in the UK. I want to say, of all places,
our deal with China is done, subject to final approval
with President g and me. He says, full magnets and
any necessary rare earth will be supplied up front by China. Likewise,

(04:29):
we will provide China. Let's he said, we provided China
what was agreed to, including Chinese students. Oh no, oh no,
using our colleges at universities as Trump. No, we just
had three or four busted in the last few days. Hello,

(04:52):
somebody ought to get there. He goes on to say,
which has always been good with me. We're getting a
total of fifty five percent tariff, China is getting ten percent.
Relationship is excellent. Thank you for attention to this matter.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
Well, I'm not excited about some of that, but I
will tell you I am excited to hear, particularly in Michigan,
this made in Michigan, made in America deal.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
GM to invest four billion dollars more in US plants.
Now you heard that right, US plants. Some of them
may not be made in Michigan. We're going to talk
about that coming up with our good friend James Dixon
on the way. But good news Trump was writing it
worked together Requi, and I'm sure the folks on the
left in the media will be out there trying to
give him thanks and credit in all of it in

(05:44):
due time over the next few days. Another story that's
happening today is tied into that story we just talked
about him. A third person set to appear in court
today in the biohazard smuggling caper caught in Detroit at
the airport. Those folks from China. A third individual that
we told you about earlier this week. In court today,

(06:05):
the FBI arrested Sing Juan Whan. I had no idea
if I said that right, or if I'm ordering off
the menu. But my point is he's been arrested, a
graduate student from China on charges of smuggling goods into
the United States and making false statements. The third arrest

(06:26):
in Michigan of a person from China with connection to
the University of Michigan. Now you may remember there was
a man who voted in the election. He has vote counted,
and he he slipped off, slipped off back to China.
So I don't know. Maybe Trump says, he said, you know,
penning approval on this deal for me, So maybe maybe

(06:49):
somebody ought out of a talk with him about some
of the recent news lately, and uh, what's going on
on here, particularly in Michigan. I'm just I I just
don't know what to think about that perspective, that particular
piece of the whole deal. Anyway, we'll talk about that.

(07:11):
James Dixon joins us, coming up at about nine thirty.
I want to get your calls on the way today too,
give you a chance to weigh in. Father's Day coming
up this weekend. We got the Big Meyer LPGA happening
this weekend as well. Lots of folks gearing up for
a fantastic one right here in Michigan.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Call Justin now at six one six seven seven four
twenty four to twenty four at six one, six seven
seven four twenty four to twenty four, West Michigan Live
with Justin Barclay on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and
one oh six nine a f M.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Now, I've got good news too, and I got to
make sure that I get this to you, because this
is if I don't. If I forget, sometimes there's just
so much going on we don't get to get to
it all. So I did tell you the GM's American investment.
We got four billion coming in. Oh other pieces of
good news. I got to make sure that I hit

(08:04):
here too. I got a little checklist, and I'm crossing
them off as I go along here because there's just
so much happening. I tell you every day it's like
drinking from a fire hose. But did you see this
the latest Elon Musk. Elon Musk has officially come out
and publicly apologized to President Trump. I was sort of

(08:26):
floored to see it. But it's happened. He's come out
and he says he'd gone too far. Now some question
whether or not there'll be some sort of I don't
know if makeup is probably not the right word. I
guess they are making up a little bit in some ways.
I think a lot of that is because of the

(08:46):
way President Trump handled everything by backing down on the rhetoric,
making sure that Elon knew he was appreciating. But at
the same time, this is going too far. So that
was announced last night and now I don't see his

(09:08):
actual post. But because he's been on a firestorm over
here on x here, it is six hours ago. This
is exactly I'll read it to your word for word.
I regret some of my posts about President Trump last week.

(09:28):
They went too far. That's it. That's it. Now, there's
a lot of people out there that don't think. They
don't think this was real. The feud was real anyway.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
M.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah, I don't know. I just don't know what to
tell you about that. I got a gut feeling that
it was and that it went too far. And I
don't necessarily know that it was over that Bill. I
think there might have been something else. There was something
else bubbling or brewing there behind the scenes that caused it.
But it is good news because we need those guys

(10:04):
getting together and working together in some ways. We got
to have all hands on deck to save this country, folks.
That's just that's just the truth of the man. Look
at everything we're up against right now. So whether it
was sort of a ruse, and I see the comments
coming in the chat right now. By the way, if
you're watching behind the scenes live stream, Facebook, Twitter, x

(10:27):
rumble Getter locals were on YouTube as well, where you
can see some of these stories we're talking about. I'll
play videos and show you pictures of things and things
like that. But the chat is always fun too because
You've got lots of people who get to chime in
and they are giving their best take some of these real,
real beefy theories on what we're watching play out, which,

(10:52):
as I said, is really kind of kind of fascinating
to me behind the scenes to see some of this.
So anyway, big trade news today, you got the China deal.
We're gonna see how the markets will react to this
coming up, So keep an eye on that as they open.
Oh a little less than a little over ten minutes
from now. That and more coming up in just moments.

(11:19):
Stand by, folks back after this, grab your chance to
join us too if you want to weigh in six
one six seven seven twenty four twenty four. That's six one,
six seven seven twenty four to twenty four and on
the iHeartRadio app. Have you done this yet? It really

(11:40):
is a lot of fun. It's super simple, it's easy
to use, and we can get you on the air
quick and painless. Rather, you don't have to wait on
the phone. You just hit that microphone button on the
app there the iHeart RADIOPP right next to the play
button and sound off. It's just that symbol. Back next

(12:01):
with you after this. West Michigan Live.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Informative Engage. It's West Michigan Live with Justin Barkley on
news Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one oh six nine
a FM.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
Here are your headlines from the Midwesterner this Wednesday, June eleventh.
I'm Robin Poffman. It's a Midwesterner dot News original story
here in Michigan, Potential Republican candidates for governor dismissing the
need for support from President Trump. US Representative John James
and others on wkar's Off the Record program asks whether

(12:39):
they would need the endorsement to win. James responding, the
Trump endorsement is something that's going to be the icing
on the cake. In other news, Michigan Secretary of State
Democrat Jocelyn Benson taking the side of the rioters in
Los Angeles, causing complete chaos for a fifth night in
a row.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Now.

Speaker 7 (12:55):
Meanwhile, President Trump fed up with it all, calling up
additional members of the National Guard and the Marines to
restore order.

Speaker 8 (13:03):
I just want to see peace. If there's peace, we
get out. If there's even a chance of no peace,
we stay there until that piece and a lot of
people are being arrested. The rioters or whatever you want
to call them. They better know a lot of people
are being arrested. They're going to be in jail for
a long time.

Speaker 7 (13:18):
For these stories and more, visit the Midwesterner at the
Midwesterner dot news.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Coming up James Dixon showings us from the Michigan Enjoyer
and down I seventy five over on X conversations about
that four million dollar announcement from GM to make cars
in America again, but will they be made here in Michigan.
Great question. Jocelyn Benson running for governor and what she's
had to say about these protests slash riots that have

(13:46):
been going on, and of course that makes you scratch
ahead the lawless nature of that individual and what she's
trying to get across. She's trying to win and become
the next governor of Michigan. We'll get into that commonsation
and much more. Plus I don't know if you saw this,
but it's worth noting. There are other events, I'll say

(14:09):
that way planned for cities across the country this weekend,
and already we're seeing some events, protests and others that
have popped up already Chicago, New York, just to name
a couple from yesterday. We got video and some of

(14:30):
that will go through during the after show today, but
there is a website. It's called no Kings dot org.
Ruth posted into the chat over here and that's where
they are starting to post some of this information. Now,
the people behind No Kings. Just so you know, we
talked about the money behind what's going on over in

(14:53):
LA and yesterday. If you didn't, if you missed the
after show, you ought to go back and take a listen.
It's on the iHeartRadio app. You download your podcast. You
could listen to us live or archive, but I would
recommend going back and taking a listen to that because
we break through a breakdown and go through what exactly
is happening there there There there's this one one particular.

Speaker 5 (15:15):
You see these.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Shields they're handing out. Who's buying these expensive shields. They're
handing these out to the rioters, and they got a guy.
They've got some guy caught on video actually handing these
these things out hanging.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Describe where it just feels like something's going to happen
and you're waiting for it to happen.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
There's a bionic shield. It is it's essentially like a
mask that you wear. It's kind of like looks kind
of space age is you know, it goes over your head.
So and you can look around.

Speaker 8 (15:45):
You see the National Guard in front of the Federal Building.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
But as far as.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
There's boxes of these things string all throughout the riot
protest area, who's buying those, Well, they've got a guy
on tape delivering it. They've they've identify fight him as
a union member. I'm not gonna get into all of that.
Maybe we'll talk more in the after show. But there
are also identified some of these nonprofits, the mngos again

(16:12):
at it. They figured out who's behind some of the
funding of what you're actually watching play out in LA.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
Now.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Who's behind the No Kings protest. That's another interesting story
in fact we're learning. I saw a report on the
Blaze today that it would be somebody who's an heiress
to a big box store, maybe the biggest in the country.

(16:41):
You gotta wonder where are they getting all this money?
Where's all this stuff coming from? May make you want
to change your mind on where you shop if you
know the things are coming from. Just think about that.
I'll get into that coming up here in just a
little bit. I'm I'm gonna blow the lid off of it.
Plus I got James, who was standing by on the
line to join us come out up in just moments.
But these are stories that I'm telling you, folks, you're

(17:04):
just not gonna get anywhere else, including the good news again,
GM announcing thanks President Trump, that they're gonna they're gonna
invest another four billion dollars right here in Michigan. So
thanks to that, that effort and the terrorists that apparently
we were told we're gonna be the end of the world.

(17:25):
Do you do you remember that. I'm old enough to
remember it tight It's gonna be sky is gonna be
falling and all the rest of it. Apparently that's not
the case. So, uh, four billion dollar investment GM making
cars here in America again, big news. And then the
China deal this morning just announced all part of what

(17:47):
we're hearing happening behind the scenes, and more of those
updates on the way too. We're gonna get to those
you know, summer's here, folks. I can tell you what
it means for me. I get outside as much as
they can. We put some plants out yesterday and some
folks came and did some weeding, and we got some molts,
Cohen and all this other stuff for us. The kids

(18:07):
want to go to the cottage. My girls trying to
learn how to fish. Four and two. The four year
old caught a bigger fish than I maybe caught in
my life. She caught one on this little pole this
weekend at the cottage, just fishing off the dock. You know,
my point is, it takes a lot to keep up
with all the things that you want to do on
especially summertime in Michigan, because we feel like we've earned

(18:28):
it right. We spend so much time there and the
winter just sort of shut in and of course suffering
through it all. So you want to get out when
the weather breaks. And that's exactly what we're doing, whether
it's running after the four year old, the two year old,
or trying to get things done around the house. I
finally can get things done the way I want to
thanks to the Good Feed Store. The Good Feed Store,

(18:48):
by the way, you can get in and get a
look just for yourself, to see what kind of a
game changer they can be. I walked into the Good
Feet Store, tried on a pair of their customized supports,
and I'm telling you, I could feel it immediately, painting
your back, painting your feet gone instantaneously. Walk at the
day the Good Feet Store twenty eighth Street, right in

(19:09):
front of Costco or Portage on West Agin front of Coles.
Come and experience a good feet feeling for yourself at
the Good Feet Store. On Wood Radio, I just gave
some interesting information on the behind the scenes livestream. We'll
tap into that a little bit later on too, about
who's funding these protests, and one they've got planned all

(19:31):
across the country, even in places like Lowell here in
West Michigan, which is kind of interesting to see, Mount Pleasant,
Traverse City, Ferndale, Paul Paul, I mean just got some
They've got some wild locations here, but they're all throughout

(19:52):
the country. These No Kings nationwide Day of Defiance protests
being being helped, planned and fund according to this article
at The Blaze the Blaze dot com and the story
of the arras of one of these big box stores
that's helping fund it. I tished that off the air,
and I believe this is true, folks. We can't just
go after the thugs in the streets that are burning

(20:14):
cars and all of the other stuff, throwing the bricks
and the concrete and the blocks and the rocks, a
cops and all of that. We've got to go. I
think after the people that are funding this chaos. I mean,
we're talking if this is terrorism, which I believe you
could make that case. These people are funding it. Whether

(20:35):
they want this type of reaction to happen or not,
I'm sure they can argue that all day long. But
I think it's time to start going after them. Maybe
we seize funds. One of these heiresses says nineteen billion dollars.
Maybe we just go and seize that. I think of
a lot of homeless people we could feed. I think
there's a lot of veterans that we could put in
homes for nineteen billion dollars. All right, let me get

(21:01):
off my stump just for a second and into the
call and our good friend James Dixon, the I remove
the soapbox from now. Maybe I'll bring it back here
in a few but James, welcome in. We appreciate you
being here with us today from the Michigan Enjoy our
podcast in down Ice seventy five over on X. Great
day to talk to you man, we got a lot
going on today. It's like drinking from.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
A fire hose, it really is. It's good to hear
your voice justin.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
I want to start with the good news, but then
I want to ask some questions about it. We just
saw GM's gonna they've announced four billion dollars they're going
to invest here into the country, making cars in American No,
thank you, President Trump. I didn't see his name and
any of the headlines out there, but that's good news.
My question is how much is that will we see

(21:45):
here in Michigan.

Speaker 9 (21:47):
But yeah, we are going to get a piece of this.
So Nurtis had the story GM's going to be building
gas trucks and Orion Township and EV's and am Tramick.
So we are going to get a piece of this business.
I think there's some other states that are also going
to get it. But you know, it's just it's incredible
that under Donald Trump, America has become a favored nation again.

(22:11):
We you know, I remember the days when we were
the builder. Detroit was the manufacturer to the world. Yes,
and that went away under Bill Clinton, a Democrat, and
it took a guy who was already rich. You never
made his money from manufacturing. To look at the situation
and realize, wait a minute, America was at its best

(22:32):
when Detroit was strongest. Erica has at its weakest when
Detroit is weakest. When men can make money building things,
that's when you're going to have a strong economy. Everything
can't be a laptop job. There has to be some
some substantial work product, and Detroit delivers that better than
any other place in America, certainly better than Washington, d C.

(22:55):
So this is great news.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, what they're producing in Washington, DC is mostly just
hot air, but there's a there's a lot that's that's
tangible here in Michigan to see. And by the way,
another piece of big news and trade news massive Trump
says today comes out announces the deal with China is done.
I was very happy to see this until I ran
a little bit further into the statement, and I've got questions.

(23:19):
And I don't know about you, but we're seeing this
here at Michigan become a thing. I mean, we're really
starting to see sort of this. Unfortunately, they're just sort
of the fruit of all of this poison tree here.
So listen to this. He's talking about China they're going
to do this deal with the rare earth and the tray.

(23:40):
They got the terraces down. They got fifty five percent
terraffs ten percent for America. But he goes on to
say China Willigan agreed to provide including Chinese students using
our colleges and universities, which has always been good with me.

(24:00):
And I looked at that and I go, my jaw
hit the floor. I go, somebody get on the phone
and tell them about what's going on here in just America,
but in Michigan right here. Well, if you had a
third or fourth Chinese student or person member of academia
that's being arrested trying to smuggle stuff into the country,

(24:22):
I'm a little concerned by that. I'm excited for the news,
but I'm somebody needs to have a conversation there.

Speaker 9 (24:29):
Yeah, I think the devil's going to be in the details.
So I look at a place like University of Michigan, Right,
So we had four thousand Chinese students on student visas
at U of M out of the fifty three thousand
that they have right and of those four thousand, we
had one of them vote illegally. And then abscon from

(24:50):
the country the day before Donald Trump took office. So
not great. We had five of them, or you know,
charges have been issued for some surveillance, some alleged surveillance
they were doing at Camp Railing, a military facility. Got great.
Then you have these three people, you know, involved with

(25:13):
some potential bio terror weapon. The stuff the fungus that
they that they brought in could call this cause this
illness call called head blight. And this is a threat
to our wheat fields and our our agricultural background. I mean,
so this is a real problem. Then you think about,
you know, the Goshen facility. They want to be out

(25:35):
in big rapids right near our waters, right near our
Great Lakes, right near our cornfield. And how come when China,
when China does these projects in Michigan, they're always out
near the cornfield. So the China syndrome is making us
thick in Michigan. And we got a little game of
spy versus Mike going on where we have these ages

(25:58):
being brought into Michigan and actively weakening us. Also, U
of M can charge out of state tuition. This hardly
seems worth it.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
How many scandals, how many more scandals. Can you of
them take? That's a question. Latest piece from James over
at the Enjoyers to check that out. And of course my.

Speaker 9 (26:18):
Hope was that Trump was that Trump was going to
save you of M from itself. But now he's not,
and so U of them that doesn't have the character
to fix this because they're so focused on money. They're
hardly even a state university anymore. Something like forty eight
percent of undergrads aren't even from Michigan. So they've totally
sold out. And the only way this was ever going

(26:42):
to be curtailed in any real way is if Donald
Trump forced it from on high, and so earlier this
week it looked like he would. Now it looks like
he might not, and U of them would be left
to our own devices. And how sad is that that
U of M might be left to its own devices
and that that would weaken us via China.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
We're gonna stay up on this one. It's a big one.
James Dixon with US Michigan and joy or down I
seventy five over on Twitter X and last night we
got the four to one freeway shutdown, the protests, update riots.
Now I do see American flags in this video, but
they're upside down. So there you have it. Lots of

(27:25):
Mexican flags and there are some upside down American flags
and they've shut down the I believe this is the
I think it's a four to oho or no, excuse me,
the one oh one is what it is. Yeah, Gavin
Newsom is out there telling people he didn't get a

(27:46):
phone call from Trump, when Trump then puts the screenshot
of the call log that they did have a sixteen
minute conversation. At least Trump spoke with somebody who was
on Gavin Newsom's phone for sixteen minutes. That's kind of interesting.
I don't know who it might have been. Maybe it
was an intern. But you know the funny thing, I

(28:06):
don't know who's running the show. He's at the French laundry.
I mean, who who's running the show out there. The
La Mayor Karen Bass has put in a curfew overnight
last night. That's just lifting as we speak now. But
you know, I'm i'm i'm, I'm just interested in the
local angle here here in Michigan because we got protests
planned for this weekend and they're all across the state.

(28:27):
We just went through a list of this group just
no Kings group funded by an heiress to a big
box store, partially according to The Blaze, the Blaze dot com.
So this is interesting to me because here back in Michigan,
we got folks who want to run for governor that well,
you know, they're all about these protests, apparently in riots

(28:50):
Joscelyn Benson.

Speaker 9 (28:55):
I mean, these people have really gone on favor of
this stuff. And it's kind of a repeat of twenty twenty,
which tells me that Democrats think that it'll work, because
what was the end result. Joe Biden eighty one trillion
votes later installed as president. So they took a really
the left took a really bad lesson from what happened
in twenty twenty. They think that they can bully America

(29:18):
into getting their way. In fact, if had that been
a legitimate election, Donald Trump wins handily, and you see
that your tactics did not work. So they're leaning in
right now when they should be leaning out. And so
here's another problem that happened. So we learned that there's
two different approaches that are taken to these protests, Like

(29:41):
if you burn down cities like happened in twenty twenty
like they're trying right now, flap on the wrist. If
you trespass in the Capitol building, that's the worst thing
you could do. And so the president that was set
with the January sixth prosecution that was actually FBI brag
that January was the biggest investigation in its history at THEFK,

(30:04):
not MLK not nine to eleven January sixth, twenty twenty one,
trespassing at the Capitol Building, dragnet getting the credit card
of information from anyone who was in the DC area
all weekend. So they put a lot of things on
film about how to prosecute exactly this kind of thing

(30:24):
if you wanted to do it. And so now the
rabbit's got the gun. The January sixth victims are now

they're throwing concrete or bricks, if they're spitting in the
face of the police or whoever's in front of them,
