Speaker 1 (00:00):
Buy from higher Top Monroe Center in downtown Grand Rapids.
We're talking about what matters most to you. When West
Michigan joined the conversation Now at six one six seven
seven four, twenty four twenty four. At six one six
seven seven four twenty four twenty four, it's West Michigan
Live with Justin Barklay on Wood Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Want a gorgeous start. Little frost on the pumpkin this morning,
little chill nip in the air, and we're getting things going. Wow.
What another gorgeous thing. Holding off on the rain until
later this weekend. It looks like it should be nice
for trick or treating too, I think, because I don't

(00:43):
take my word when I said that's what they're telling me.
No tricks, just treats. Today with the latest as we
give you the stories you won't hear anywhere else. Major
historic news out of Trump's trip to Asia, with.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
China, coming weather and traffic.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I'm break his stories.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Of the day. We are talking about what matters most
in West Michigan and beyond. This is the Big Three.
Now today's Bay three.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, the stories of Matteremults should be talking about days
around a watercore. The dinner table no matter where you are,
these are those stories powered by the good friends at
Hartland Home Mortgage Day have got away of the team
ready to help you. By the way, you saw the
FED in the Big News about interest rates yesterday. We
got that later on in our Big three this morning,

(01:34):
and those mortgage rates, well, you'll check in with Dave
shortly to find out where they're going, and turns out
maybe a good time to reach out to him HHM
lending dot com Always a good time to find out
how Dave and the team can help you whether you
want to buy refy home equity line of credit. They've
done all three for us and been a fill to

(01:57):
work with, faster, better than the big banks to Hjhmlynding
dot com. Number Trump and the deal is done in China.
China is going to purchase farm products, export rare earth minerals,
and stop fitting them from pouring into the country. At
least that's what we're hearing in the headline out of

(02:22):
that big meeting a what was it multi our China
multi hour two hour meeting with President and Chi in
South Korea. Under the new deal, China will buy more
American farm products, increase exports of rare earth minerals and
crack down. As I said on that fennol Trump, speaking
aboard Air Force one on his way home, called a

(02:43):
huge win for the United States. More on that, in fact,
we'll dip into the coverage on Air Force once so
you can hear it right out of his mouth. Also
talking about a potential deal with China to purchase US
energy and speaking to those reporters, Trump calling the media productive,
say they'll do it again soon another deal maybe as soon,

(03:04):
or another meeting as soon as April. Speaking of deals
in South Korea, they've also worked out a major deal
with Trump, including an opportunity to sell South Korea a
nuclear sub How we get one to go? I don't
think you can find them out, eBay, I don't not

(03:25):
where you get that. The FED cutting interest rates yet
again yesterday, the second time in the in the quarter,
and Wall Street of course exploding in a good way.
Lots of folks very excited in the market, of course,
watching those interra straights downs. It's just a just a tick.

(03:47):
Market's reacting, Wall Street excited, mortgage lenders already adjusting right
so FED saying it's watching inflation closely but it's committed
to supporting stable growth. The latest story and more coming
up as I'm shaking with day. We talked to Kevin
Yoder about it yesterday and what it's doing to the
housing market where things are moving. Speaking of moving, well,

(04:11):
it's been absolutely horrific to see some of the footage
coming out of Jamaica Hurricane Melissa in that direct hit.
It is a total annihilation in some places, winds stronger
than many of us have ever even seen. Obviously, the

(04:32):
island without power, and some of the footage in the
and the images coming out is just wild to watch.
By the way, I will warn you. I know this
goes without saying, but you know there's a lot of
AI stuff out there you got to be careful with too.
In fact, I got caught yesterday. I have to admit this.

(04:53):
I'll fill you in on what happened to me. And
once I explain it, you'll you'll you'll get it.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Called Justin Now at six one, six seven seven four
twenty four twenty four at six one, six seven seven
four twenty four twenty four West Michigan Live with Justin
Barclay on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one oh
six nine f M.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
So I share this picture yesterday which I thought was incredible,
and it's a it's essentially the like a hospital there.
I got a nigh of the roof was completely riff
ripped off the top of it. I got a bunch
of comments inside the post. I say, this is AI,

(05:34):
and I go, what are you talking about? It said,
it's I've seen the picture everywhere and I didn't share
it immediately. When I said, I kept seeing it pop up. Well,
I should probably share this and encourage again people to
still pray for Jamaica in the and their uh you know,
their recovery there. When I looked at it again, I go, oh, yeah,
a little closer, it's Ai. It's it's a picture of

(05:57):
the hospital with the roof ripped off, and then some
other buildings around it too that suffered a similar situation.
It's a lot of water surrounding the hospital, waves and
then cars and if you look at the cars, the
cars are the giveaway. They're they're too big. They're too
big when you look at the scale of the hospital
and them just telling you this to admit, it's like,

(06:19):
even when we want to get it right, this is
the tough part about AI and moving into the future
with all of this stuff that's out there. Even when
you want to get it right, sometimes you don't. So
you know, I admit it, and uh and I did.
I told people, I said, I you know, sorry. I
let me show you in fact that people are watching
them behind the scens livestream, Facebook, Twitter, x, rumble Getter, locals, YouTube,

(06:42):
they're all they can all see this, uh, this image
and I'll put it up on the stack today to
at justin Barclay Dott. But this is the original image.
And when you look at the original image, it it
makes it now you can see like, oh, okay, that's
that's what was big on this, this original and it's bad.

(07:03):
The original is bad enough. It just didn't have the
cars in the water as high with the waves and
all that other stuff. So be careful what you share
it out there. I will say the fact remains they're
going to have a long haul ahead of them in
Jamaica as they clean up all of this this mess. Well,
the first debate, and I don't even know if you

(07:26):
call it a debate, but the first forum Republican candidates
for governor happened yesterday in her own backyard in Sparta,
hosted by the mi I go Op. It's really more
of a fundraising effort than anything else. It's very early
folks talking about that, but it is. It is. It's

(07:47):
the first of three, and they'll have two more that
will take place, one up north and Traverse City, and
then the next one on the other side of the state.
I think it's in Roseville, if I if I remember correctly. Anyway,
they're coming up and got a chance to hear from
different candidates, and one of those folks wasn't there last

(08:10):
night working I think in Congress. And there's some other questions,
but we'll talk about that. Coming up nine thirty five,
John James with big news polling and a brand new
ad that's out. We'll talk with him, the front runner
in Well, thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
It's a great honor to be with a friend of
mine really for a long time now, if you think
about it, the very very distinguished and respected President of China,
and we will be having some discussions. I think we've
already agreed to a lot of things, and we'll agree
to some more right now. But President she is a

(08:48):
great leader of a great country, and I think we're
going to have a fantastic relationship for a long period
of time. And it's an honor to have you with us.
Thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
I will tell you you may be wondering, like, this
is China. Why are we making deals with China? Aren't
they or any well, China certainly is a threat on
the world stage, and they certainly are. No. No, I
don't have to be diplomatic here, so I can think

(09:19):
they are an enemy. But they are very very smart
in the way that they approach us. It's it's not
in this sort of way that Russia. It's obvious and clear.
You know this is besides the black hats, white hats
sort of thing. That's not That's not what you're dealing

(09:40):
with with China. You're dealing with an enemy that goes back,
you know, thousands of years the art of war. And
if you if you take all of that into into consideration,
you you start to understand what what it is they're
now everything that, by the way, everything that we see
is pushed in coming from China's It's it's the fentanyl.
It is all of the woke stuff, the DEI, all

(10:02):
of this crazy nonsense, all of that comes you don't
say they push it in they talk about human rights,
but they don't do any of that stuff back home
where they're from. They use it to weaken us, and
you know, you see democrats falling hook line and sinker
for some of that stuff. There's one thing that I
think made these deals possible more than anything else, because

(10:25):
China has just really sort of they have to preserve
their sort of face here they save face in the
world stage. Listen to what she says in his opening remarks,
I think this may have nailed it.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
Didn't You care a lot about world peace talking to Trump,
and you're very enthusiastic about settling various regional hotspot issues.
I appreciate your great contribution to the recent conclusion of
the Gaza ceasefire agreement. During your visit to Malaysia, you
witnessed the signing of the Joint Declaration on Peace along

(10:59):
the Cambodia Thailand border, to which you had provided input.
China's been helping our own way Cambodia and Thailand properly
set all their border disputes, and we have also been
promoting peace talks to resolve other hotspot issues.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
So he's another word saying really like what you've done
with the peace stuff. And by the way, he has
to because in order for China, the paper tiger, to
stay in their standing, they have to take this sort
of approach, to sort of posture that they're strong, but
they don't bully, they're not getting involved in certain things,
which why you haven't seen, you know, the action in Taiwana,

(11:44):
et cetera. Yet. This is this is part of it.
This is why I think there was such a warm
reception and why the trade deals went so well, is
because the United States is finally on solid footing again
throughout the the entire world stage. And this idea that

(12:10):
President Trump was able to get. Now he wants peace
for a completely different reason, but that's why I think
they were able to get a lot of it done.
In fact, she had a lot more to say, Glad
to be finally meeting with you again. Warm seeing you.
I mean, it was just a hole back and forth
all of the.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
Because it's been many years since your re election. We
have spoken on the phone three times, exchanged several letters,
and stayed in close contact, and our joint guidance Chinese

(12:49):
relations have remained stable on the whole given in our
different national conditions. We do not always see eyed eye
with each other, and it is normal for the two
leading economies of the world to have frictions now and then,

(13:11):
and in the face of winds, waves and challenges, you
and I, at the helm of Chinese relations, should stay
the right course and ensure the steady sailing forward of
the giant ship of Chinese relations.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Why does Chinese development.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Goes hand in hand with your vision to make America
great again?

Speaker 2 (13:35):
All right? So why is peace big for China? Because
there's sort of a big deal. There's a big they
could be they could be looked at as the big
bully on the block, and if that were the case,
you'd have people uh not working together with them, but
sort of rallying together against them. They realize that, and

(13:56):
that's I think that's part of what we're what we're
seeing here. By the way, what about Trump on opening
up the government. You're gotta get that too. Coming up
in just a little bit. Lots from this trip as
he makes his way back, and of course very successful trip,
another big one in the books. We'll continue that conversation

(14:16):
and more coming up at minutes. You can join us
on a program anytime and I meantime, please join us
at rise if you're able for our national anthem f Y.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
I like literally It's West Michigan Live with Justin Barclay
on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one oh six
nine FM.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
Here are your headlines from the Midwesterner this Thursday, October thirtieth.
I'm Robin Hoffman. It's a Midwesterner. Dot News original story.
All of Governor Whitmer's overseas trips being scrutinized by Republican
lawmakers at a House hearing. Concerns raised over private sector
firms funding or supporting these travel missions. Governor Whitmer's push

(16:07):
for electric vehicles going bust. General Motors announcing twenty five
hundred EV jobs across the Midwest being cut. Nearly half
of the positions being eliminated are right here in Michigan.
And the meeting is success. President Trump meeting with the
Chinese president in South Korea and a trade deal is reached.
President Trump on Air Force one heading back here to

(16:28):
the US, telling reporters.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
We have a deal now.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Every year will renegotiate the deal, but I think the
deal will go in for a long time.

Speaker 6 (16:37):
For these stories and more. Visit the Midwesterner at the
Midwesterner dot news.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Have you seen the latest. We've talked about this a
while back, but this is straight out of a hearing
that happened in Lansing and one of the reps, Republican
Jamie Thompson, who is a fantastic talking about what they
want to do with the Michigan Board of Education. Parents
is something you've got to be catched. You got to

(17:05):
make sure you got an eye on this. In sex
said teaching your kids, I think it's third grade, that's
eight and nine year olds.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Society for Health Education otherwise known as SIKIS. You can
write this down Siecus. You can go to their website
seekis dot org and you will see very clearly what
they advocate for in curriculums. They believe that abstinence is
failing our kids. Teaching abstinence is ineffective. They believe that

(17:34):
teaching abstinence to children threatens the fundamental human right of sex.
They believe that we should be encouraging our children safe
and healthy ways to engage in sex. And in Michigan,
we know that the age of consent is sixteen, So
why would SIKHIS be working with our Board of Education

(17:57):
to teach this to third graders, eight and nine year olds.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Society for Healthy it's a it's a story that we've
been following the latest on this, and of course the
hearings continue to happen. It's just another one of these issues.
You can't take your ball, your eye off the ball,
rather at any time on any one of these topics.
You really can't. I know, it's a tough one. It's
a tough subject to deal with, but it is one.

(18:23):
I guess again, I'll say it's necessary. It's it's the
strategy and putting your head in the sand on this
stuff is never good. It never works. You got to
make sure you stay away, stay in the fight. And
obviously those folks that do are very passionate about this,
and they know they've been watching, they've been paying attention.
You know, we all had a wake up call few
years back. We all got to see what was going

(18:44):
on in the schools and we got an up close
and personal picture of it all, and that for a
lot of folks was the day they'll they'll never forget,
all right, Continuing on our conversation, coming up next to
he's running for governor, new Paul new commercial and a
conversation with Congressman John James, who joins us next on

(19:07):
West Michigan Live. Stand by for that is.

Speaker 7 (19:11):
In a great room.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
I see him.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
They are John.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Good to see you coming up. The Good Feed Store
folks powering this program and me on a daily basis,
We thank you for your support, not just of me
on my feet each and every day, but of this program.
And the Good Feed Store is doing something pretty cool
through the month of October. Portion of the proceeds going

(19:34):
to support local breast cancer patients right here in our
own backyard. For the month of October. They're also donating
portion of the sales of everything, but also one hundred
percent from those pink Os first socks, those Arch support socks.
You're gonna love those. By the way to it's a
breast thing. It goes right to the patients here in
our own backyard. So don't forget stop by and see

(19:57):
if they can help you today. If you be on
dealing with a foot pain back pa leg paying, the
Good Feet Store may have what's right for you, and they
help me, maybe they can help you too. Checking in
on twenty eighth Street there right next to Costco or
on Portage on Westinage in frontacles at the Good Feet store.

(20:17):
Back after it, we got more comments from President Trumpe
on the shutdown coming up in minutes, We're gonna get that.
You'll hear the latest and a new ad, new polling,
new commentary from Congressman John James, who's announced his race
a run for the governor here in Michigan.

Speaker 8 (20:37):
And why do we lock our doors at night because
we hate the people on the outside. No, because we
love the people on the inside. We also need to
lock our borders to protect us from drugs and terraces.
America is the most generous country in the world. But
Democrats want to give you, I legals, free health care. Well,
you go into debt paying for yours.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
That's crazy. I'm John James. We have to fix this
crisis before it's too late. I approve this message.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
He's running for governor and he joins us now on
West Michigan Live. Thank you for taking the time to
be here with us today. Sy're always a pleasure.

Speaker 7 (21:16):
Hey, thanks for having me on astin.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Solid message in that and I think I don't think
I've heard to put much better than that about this
border issue, and one of the things as that issue
was discussed it can get lost on people is that Michigan,
it's a border state.

Speaker 9 (21:35):
That's right, that's right. People forget the Michigan's a border state.
People forget that when presidents was successful in shutting down
our southern border, all of the immigration, illegal immigration went
to the longest land border in the world, our border
between Canada and the United States of America. Michigan is
a border state. And when our Northern word apprehensions skyrocketed,

(21:59):
those are just the ones that we know about. Just
last year, sixty Minutes interviewed one of these cartel goons
and they said that they're absolutely going to keep coming
through because of the things that Democrats did in the
past to create a draw for the system. This is
human trafficking, this is drug trafficking, this is weapons trafficking

(22:20):
that we've been highlighting for so long. So Michigan being
a border state, Michigan gets hit tough and hard on this,
and I applaud the governor of the President's efforts here
and as Michigan's next governor, Michigan will not be a
sanctuary state on my watch.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Well that's big because what we're talking about and what
we're seeing play out, as you just mentioned, the President
trying to solve these issues in a lot of ways,
and he's getting some friction from attorneys generals throughout the country,
but also from governors in local law enforcement, and that's
not helpful at all.

Speaker 9 (22:54):
No, not helpful at all. And the president having an
ally and a friend battleground state in a border state
is massively going to benefit making America safe again, making
sure we have an ally who will not only protect
us from our public safety standpoint, but have being a
combat veteran, being a soldier, having defended this country before.

(23:17):
Having a governor who will be the commander in chief
of the National Guard, who understands what it takes to
do that working alongside the President, I think is massively
beneficial for the state of Michigan and for the United
States of America. We have massive economic opportunity here that
will benefit the country and our own citizens in Michigan,
and we also have massive opportunity as a border state.

(23:37):
But let's not forget that we're being probed by China
right now, and with this failed regime with Gretchen Whitber
and Lansing, they have everything from Goshen to probing and
graling and everywhere in between.

Speaker 7 (23:49):
You may have heard.

Speaker 9 (23:50):
Recently that two Chinese operatives a few months ago were
apprehended at Detroit Metro Airport. Imagine a state that's so wonderful,
so powerful, so beautiful, so economically dominant, that we're getting
more respect from the Chinese government that we're getting from
our own administration in Lansing. We need to have somebody
who understands what it takes to keep our streets safe,

(24:12):
but also understands what it takes to lead and keep
our country safe as well.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
John James is with us right now, the congressman from
Michigan wants to be the governor and talking about this
very serious subject. One of them is Goshen itself. The
Midwestern are doing a lot of reporting on this in
that fight, and those folks, they're so incredibly happy to
see that finally come to an end. So Goshen is
a big part of it, but there is also a machine,

(24:39):
and it has to do with Gretchen Whitmer and the
current governor here and what she was doing behind the
scenes MTDC and some of the scandalous things that they've
been sort of caught in the in the tracks. I
don't think even the Attorney General's that's Dan and Nessel
looking into some of this stuff. But boy, number one,
great to see what those folks were able to put

(25:00):
allow a testament to when people realize people every day
people get together and uh and stand up with each
other to make a difference. But also I think there's
a lot to be done in in this, in this
not in the sort of the aftermath of this. We
gotta we got to investigate find out how we got here.

Speaker 9 (25:20):
And the first thing I'm going to do, among the
first things I'm going to do, We've got to audit
the entire structure in Lansing. We have to figure out
who's been greasing whose palms, and who's been on the take.
Because there's no reason that the the this m d C,
which is tantamount to the Governor's piggy bank, has been
able to uh to fail so spectacularly in its mission.

(25:41):
Why this sore organization can spend over six hundred million
of your tax dollars and create zero jobs. You heard it, exactly,
zero jobs. The best way to make sure you spend
money is to spend it on the taxpayers who are
paying the taxes. We need the tax tourt and regulatory
reform that's necessary to make this a better place to
do business, from our farms to our factories. We need

(26:02):
to make sure that we have a government that's fair,
efficient and limited. We need to make sure we have
a customer service centric organization, changing the culture and lansing
to make sure it works for us and not against us.
This is just the start and audit from top to bottom,
and then when we have the results, we will streamline
what's working, we will consolidate what could be made better,

(26:24):
and we will eliminate the things that are working against
the people.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
Let's talk about one of the questions that keeps coming
up in the chat, and I'm sure you'll want to see.
I have a feeling it ties into this shutdown President Trump.
We're just talking a little bit about how they're trying
to get this all wrapped up in a deal done here.
But let's talk a little bit about it if we can.
What you're hearing on the inside track on this. I'm
sure it has a little bit to do with last

(26:49):
night's forum that happened here in Sparta and the question
is where's the congressman? But it sounds like to me
that you'll probably answer that question with the answer of
the shutdown as well.

Speaker 7 (27:04):
Yeah. Well, here I am. Here.

Speaker 9 (27:06):
I am speaking to your educated, your passionate, and engaged
audience in West Michigan.

Speaker 7 (27:12):
Here I am speaking to you.

Speaker 9 (27:14):
Last night, I was on Fox TOO News in Detroit,
and I guarantee you more people heard from me than
heard from our candidates in a closed door, non stream
fundraiser for the politically connected. I don't think that the
voter should have to pay one thousand dollars per table
to hear from their candidates. I took my message to voters,
and more importantly, I'm listening. I'm getting out around the

(27:35):
state and I'm hearing what's broken. I'm hearing that people
want to restore hope. And Frankly, a combat veteran who's
grown a business and has deployed to DC to support
our president to make America great again, are the things
that people know that we need to lead us out
of the doldrums. Right now, I'm ahead in the polls
by fifty points on my next closest competitor, and I'm

(27:57):
the only one that the other side is even considering
would be an opponent. I am the farthest ahead of
anybody any Republican candidate has ever been over a year
out and in terms of individual fundraising, over twelve thousand,
five hundred individuals contributing to this campaign and outraised everybody
else to include Joslyn Benson and Mike Duggan. This is

(28:19):
an indication of the energy that we have with people
recognizing that someone who has a passion for service, who's
willing to put service before a self, someone who's been
proven in combat and business is what it takes to
get through and not engaging with a few people in
a closed room.

Speaker 7 (28:35):
And frankly, I would say that.

Speaker 9 (28:39):
Somebody who can win in southeast Michigan, and somebody who
can win in Southeast Michigan with abortion on the ballot,
that's the type of person who will be able to
win Michigan again. Because again Trump got seven thousand more
votes than I did in twenty twenty, but I got
sixty thousand votes closer. If you agree that Trump got
robbed in twenty twenty, you have to agree that I
did too. We are going to win again. We are

(29:01):
going to turn our state around, and I'm excited to
engage with you individually and all over the state. And
I'm happy, happy to consider debate. What's the field is set?

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Hey, let's talk about something I'm I'm I think needs
to be addressed. In fact, I've got a couple of folks.
You've got the couple of Democrats on the other side,
you know, one in Jocelyn Benson that should be taken
very seriously. If you thought Gretchen Whitmer was bad, get ready,

(29:33):
she'll be Whitmer times ten. But then you've got Douggan,
who really is He really is a Democrat, even though
he doesn't admit it, now an independent and parading around
like he is. You know, God's gift to mayors. Here's
the Midwesterner headline that states something different Beggin's Detroit ranked

(29:55):
fourth most dangerous city in America. And I know you're
you're in the area, you live there, you know what
it's like. It's a completely different picture that's being painted
on billboards and the like the rest right now in
the state.

Speaker 7 (30:11):
Yeah, no, they think we're stupid. We're not stupid.

Speaker 9 (30:15):
Detroit ranks number three, number three in rape, murder, and
vehicle theft. The rest of Michigan want that. Mike Duggan
actually went out on August second, check it out yourself
and said that he's not going to change any of
his policy positions. Not any Okay, well, you know where
that stands. We have a state that is ranked high

(30:39):
in unemployment. We have a state that's ranked toward the
bottom in every other metric to include. We were ranked
toward the bottom in population growth, We're ranked toward the
bottom in education, We're ranked toward the bottom in an
economic opportunity. And everywhere you look throughout the country, where
you see the states that are growing and thriving, there

(30:59):
are red state run by Republican governors with lower taxes.
Every state where you see that population is declining and.

Speaker 7 (31:07):
People are losing hope.

Speaker 9 (31:08):
These are blue states with Democrat governors with high taxes.
The answer is simple, we have to turn around our state.
Now is not the time for half measures in games.
We have the opportunity right now with the strongest candidate
who's been able to win in Southeast Michigan, win state
wide again and then be able to take our state

(31:29):
to a much better higher plane to benefit everyone, regardless.

Speaker 7 (31:32):
Of race, color, and Creed. That's what we need to
be focused on.

Speaker 9 (31:36):
How we win the state and take it back from
the Marxists who will ruin our lives by imposing more
government on us, or we can spend the next year
fighting each other and getting nothing done.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
I'm excited to have the.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
Opportunity to engage with you individually and again I was
on with the Detroit audience last night and I'm on
with you today because I believe fully in transparency, accountability,
and that's exactly how we're going to be running the state.

Speaker 7 (31:59):
The core value, the things that we.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
Stand for are economic excellence, economic mobility, public safety, accountable government,
and healthy families. Those are things that we can all
get behind and those are things I'm going to be
fighting for you.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
On John James running for governor here, and of course
we let's have you back on. I know there are
plenty more questions we want to get to, but obviously
time running out here. You're hearing from lots of folks
as you talk to people throughout the state, and I'm
sure continue those conversations as you just mentioned, But where

(32:36):
can folks keep up with you? Where can they see
a shake a hand, ask a question, maybe go online
and do the same. What's the best way for them
to do that.

Speaker 7 (32:43):
Yeah, I'd say for campaign stuff.

Speaker 9 (32:46):
If you want to see what we're doing around the state,
John James am I on the socials John James am I,
or on the website. But during these troubling times, when
House Republicans voted to keep the government open over forty
days ago, and Senate Republicans have voted thirteen times open
it back up in these troubling times, if you need help,
please contact my official office and we will do everything

(33:08):
that we can to make sure you have the resource
that you're entitled to.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
It's important. I know there's gonna be a lot of
people hurting right now, and obviously that's what the Democrats
seem to want. They seem to be okay with that.
It's shameful in my mind.

Speaker 9 (33:21):
Yeah, if I have a couple I want to give
your people the facts. House Minority Whip Catherine Clark. She stated,
of course there will be families that are going to suffer,
but it's one of the few leverage items that we have.
Chuck Schumer says, every day gets better for Democrats. Senator
Bernie Sanders said, you reopen the government and we lose

(33:42):
our leverage. That's the whole point of the shutdown. Even
Everett Kelly, the president of the American Federation of Government Employees,
that is time to pass a clean continuing resolution. And
in the shutdown today, no have measures, no gamesmanship, but
every single federal worker back on the job with full back.

Speaker 7 (33:58):
Pay to day.

Speaker 9 (34:00):
You're even seeing the fake news media out on CNN
and Washington Post and CNBC who are looking at these
Democrats and saying, what are you doing. We absolutely are
on the right side because we are always siding with
the people. The government protects the rights of the people.
We get our rights from God. We have a constitutional republic,
and we need five more senators to open the government

(34:22):
and fix this broken sick care system that is breaking
our banks, making us more unhealthy, and sending our children
further and further into debt. That is what we need
to do. But first we need to reopen the government
to keep our promises to the American people.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Here you have it, John James, always a pleasure the congressman,
and of course could be the next governor from the
state of Michigan. Go online and find out more. John
JAMESMI dot com always a pleasure, my friend.

Speaker 7 (34:48):

Speaker 2 (34:50):

Speaker 6 (35:25):
A f am curre your headlines from the Midwesterner this Thursday,
October thirtieth. I'm Robin Poffman. It's a Midwesterner. Dot News
original story. Democrat Governor Whimer's push for you to purchase
and drive an electric vehicle going bust General Motors eliminating
more than twenty five hundred EV jobs, and close to
half of those positions are here in Michigan. Republican lawmakers

(35:48):
in the House here in Michigan busy scrutinizing Governor Whitmer's many,
many overseas trips. The House Oversight Committee raising concerns over
exactly who is paying for all these missions. President Trump
meeting with Chinese President g in South Korea and a
trade deal is reached. The President on Air Force one
heading back to the US, telling reporters this about the

(36:09):
fentanyl crisis on ventadol.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
We agreed that he was going to work very hard
to stop the float.

Speaker 7 (36:15):
You know, it's a very complex subject.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
Because it's used for lots of different reasons.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
For these stories and more, visit the Midwesterner at the
Midwesterner dot news.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
President Trump here he is. President Trump asked about this
shutdown while on that trip. I believe he's in South Korea.

Speaker 8 (36:38):
Just heard the latest on this on the extension of
healthcare subsidies, which is what Democrats are asking for.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
All I want to do is very simple. I want
to get the country open, and then we're going to
discuss that and we'd like to Obamacare is a horrible mess,
and it has been from the beginning. We want to
make it better, stronger, even if it costs more money,
costs more money. We want to make it better. The
Democrats want to make it worse. The Democrats want to
prove healthcare for illegals coming into our country, many of

(37:07):
them coming in from prisons and mental institutions and drug dealers.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
They want to give them healthcare.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
We don't want that for our people because that's going
to destroy the healthcare that we already have. We'd like
to make Obamacare better, better for people, less expensive, and
better healthcare.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
They probably do. Trump Care is probably what he's thinking.
By the way, markets of today, one's four the green
for the Dow, s and P down a little bit,
Nasdaq down about one forty stocks falling here and there,
led by Meta and Microsoft declines. That's the latest. Don't
get left feeling nauseous on that roller coaster ride. What

(37:46):
do you want to retire tomorrow, ten twenty years down
the road, It doesn't matter. Telling Wealth wants to help
you get where you need to go. Mike Lester and
the team willing to do that. Guarding your nast egg

him or call him six one six six six one

that you get to where you want to go and

(38:06):

I've got a couple of folks that wanted to weigh in,
and we'll do just that right now. It looks like
Matt is in from Beal City.

Speaker 7 (38:21):
Mac.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Good morning, How are you welcome on West Michigan life.

Speaker 10 (38:25):
Good morning, great to hear from you.

Speaker 11 (38:27):
I just wanted to make a point. I grew up
in Wayne County in the seventies and eighties down by
Metro Airport and mister Doggan and mister Focano, Bob Vocano,
who is stilled seven million dollars from the city of
Detroit for the jails he was building that Nobody ever prosecuted.

Speaker 10 (38:48):
Or questioned him on. We're all heard of the McNamara machine.
And mister McNamara has streets named after him in Metro Airport.
And he also as a lovely house that was built
up on Lake Isabella by Wayne County workers while they
were on the clock.

Speaker 11 (39:07):
And this was a scandal that a lot of people
don't remember. But mister Duggan was.

Speaker 10 (39:11):
Right there was one of his cohorts back in the day.

Speaker 11 (39:14):
And a lot of people don't remember that.

Speaker 2 (39:18):
Yeah, the corruption runs long and deep in those grounds
there throughout Detroit, and I appreciate the phone call as
a reminder somebody who was there and seeing it, Thank you,
my friend. Duggin's. Detroit ranked fourth most dangerous city in
America according to that report from the Midwestern By the way,
the more and more come, I didn't people in Detroit

(39:40):
kind of know or have those roots there, they kind
of know what we're in for as a state. If
Dugan becomes governor, we'll continue to cover all of this
and by the way, more folks, more candidates, more news,
all of the way. Well, got to let us headlines
coming up. The Glenn Back program is on the way
this morning as well, and we got an after show
