on the boat and we're still lait a minute.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
The guy had written things on.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
The ammunition again, which is a whole another There were
showcasings that had writing them because this is another one
of these wackos out there.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
News, weather, and traffic.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Still working on the mother cords, Sir, we are.

Talking about what matters most in West Michigan and beyond.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
This is the Big three. Now speak speak for you.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Yeah, the stories, no matter most you'd be talking about
Dad's trying to water coloring, demn tripletal matter where they are,
these are those stories parted by good friends at Hartlett
Home Mortgage. Yeah, everydoll moment that's usually the word of
the day. Can't really figure out sometimes what's up and
what's down. That's why we want to try and make
sense of it all for you. And of course we
(01:25):
do that with the folks and the help here of
Jchimlindy dot com. Dave on about a week or so
back on a Monday with some great advice for folks
who are looking at whether they want to buy sell
all mequity line of credit. And I will tell you,
folks that listened to him saved saved big. We have
(01:48):
advice all the time, but you don't have to listen
to this program solely to get it. You can call
Dave and the team and he'll give you the same
advice that he gives on the air. Reach out anytime
you have questions, Like I said, we want to buy
sal you got a whole equity line of credit. There's
all kinds of REFI you know, all kinds of different
(02:09):
things that you may be looking to do right now,
and I'm telling you he can point you in the
right direction. They have all of the folks there on
the team part of a teacher, and we're wanting to
just work with you faster, better, than the big banks
do it today at htim lending.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Dot com one big stories.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Today as the details what we're written on that the
casings shellcasing's found at the scene yesterday's attack in Dallas,
and more.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
On the way.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
But it's coming, they say, reports on the way. US
prosecutors preparing to ask a grand jury to indict former
FBI director James Comy msd NC thirteen not happy about it. Oh,
I can't wait for the wailing and gnashing of teeth.
I'm sure yet to go.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
So it's familiar to tell MSNBC former FBI director James
Comy is expected to be indicted in the coming days.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Why he lied to Congress? Now they did this all
the time. They've actually got him dead. The rights on
what he said. I'll break some of this down, come
it up here in a little bad.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
But it is.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
It's going to be interesting to see whether or not
they can actually get the indictment, because again, this will
apparently would happen in Virginia, and you know that a
hard time indicting a woman who drove to DC with
so intent of killing the president.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
They couldn't get her indicted in DC.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Folks, this is how bad things are. So do you
think they're going to have an easy time getting calm
across the line?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Don't know.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Well, they're gearing up. A shutdown could be looming. It
looks like the Trump administration is prepping for it. What
are they planning to do? Well, the White House directing
federal agencies, they get ready to fire a bunch of folks,
you fired. Divided Congress struggling to pass the new funding
bill for the September thirtieth deadline hardline House Republicans rejecting
(03:57):
the bipartisan bill, Speaker McCarthy see, well, because they want,
you know why, they want to fund healthcare for folks
here illegally in the country. That's that's why jomp administration says, Yeah,
we might just go ahead and we might just fire
the people that are that are sitting around sort of
(04:18):
collecting checks during some In fact, these are people they
wanted to fire already.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Look out for that latest test and the details. What
was in.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Some of the things that were left behind in that
deadly attack yesterday.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
Well, here's what we now know.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
That Dallas attack on Ice the latest in the trend
of the assailants engraving bullets, weapons with messages the third
target of ICE or US Customs and Border Protection agents.
Since July, coming as rhetoric from democratic opponents to politicians
against the agencies has ratcheted up the individual response responsible
(05:05):
as a twenty nine year old Joshua John or Jan
identified as an anti ICE gunman there the New York
Post with that story. He looks just like the standard
run of the mill kind of wacko, lefty kind of guy.
And then you have the anti ICE inscription on the bullets.
(05:26):
This looks like maybe written on with a sharpie and
literally it says anti Ice, which is wild. Now I
got more of this, I want to break it down
for you this morning. But again, this is just the
latest and a horrific trend that we're starting to see.
(05:50):
The latest your commentary too. You can jump in at
any time on West Michigan Live.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Call Justin Now at six one six seven seven four
twenty four twenty four at six one, six seven seven
four twenty four to twenty four West Michigan Live with
Justin Barclay on News Radio Wood thirteen hundred and one
oh six nine f M.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, the talkback feature is wide open as well. I
you know, I was.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I'll say, yesterday I talk about something completely different than
has come again due just the last minute, we start
to get I think about eight forty five, we start
to get the notifications that did you know obviously there's
breaking news, and I go, no, here we go, here
we go again, this is Dallas, And of course what
we see the stories start to come out and develop
(06:47):
about what had happened there and how horrific it was.
Of some people still ramping up rhetoric on the left,
which I absolutely hate to see. But it's still happening,
and we've got to have you. In fact, I saw
Jessica Tarlov last night sort of making the case that there.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
May have been reasons.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
It wasn't the media Democrats that he said, Maybe it
was what he saw happening with Ice and why what
the president was doing is so wrong? That led this
guy thought to myself, fire her. Why is she still
on air? Have we not learned anything? You got Kimmel
back on the air after a five day vacation. These
people and gruesome Gavin Newsom, just hours before all of
(07:30):
this took place, was out there slamming Ice in the
president again. And these people don't realize when they say
things like nazi and fascist and all this stuff, which
couldn't be further from the truth.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
They're egging this stuff on.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
I'm an open fire on an ice facility in Dallas
Wednesday morning, shooting three people and killing at least one.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
Lacy Beasley was our first reporter that actually made it
to the scene.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
So, Lacy, we also have a clip of some people
who heard those gunshots.
Speaker 6 (07:56):
Tell us what else you're learning.
Speaker 7 (08:00):
Morning.
Speaker 8 (08:00):
We will show a clip of that video in just
a few moments. We are learning from Homeland Security that
the sniper was positioned on a roof on a building
across the street from this ice facility, and he was
shooting at this walled in courtyard area, which is where
the detainees go to sign papers before their bust to
detention centers. One person is dead, two others are injured,
(08:23):
and we're also learning from Homeland Security that one of
the victims that was shot was actually running from the
van to try and get help. Now, it was just
before sunrise when this family waiting in their vehicle for
the Dallas Ice office to open heard the gunshots. Dallas
Police Chief Daniel Como says the suspect took his own
(08:45):
life before police arrived, and Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
What's wow to watch about this again?
Speaker 2 (08:51):
In this story, you know, the guy wacko, completely radicalized
leftist extremist has gone out there and what he wanted
to do was some sort of chaos reekavic on Ice,
and of course.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
It was a political message, right. It's terrorism, is what
this is.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
And he ends up killing the very people that I
think he would make the claim that he was trying
to protect one of them at least. So you try
to apply any sort of truth, logic or common sense
to any of that, and there's just there's just no
doing it.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Is what else we know?
Speaker 2 (09:32):
The twenty nine year old began shooting while the detainees
were being transferred, and I guess some of that area
was open. One person died, two were wounded. According to reports,
Yon found dead nearby on a rooftop with a self
inflicted wound, riding on the bullets again saying anti Ice.
(09:55):
According to the FBI, we've seen pictures of that now
showing it on the screen early or it's being investigated
this attack as a targeted act of violence. A special
agent in charge of the FBI's Dallas Field office, Joe
Rothcrock said in a press conference, we'll have more today.
We didn't get that press conference es there during the
after show. We were trying to hear from them, but
(10:17):
they didn't come on it. Then they were still trying
to get things together. It sounds like, but you got
some politicians out. I think the mayor of Dallas may
have had a thing or two to say about it.
But where are the people that are trying to cool
the temperature. I'm telling you something. These people that don't
actively engage to cool the temperature, or the ones that
actually ramp it up, are just as guilty. Why, they've
(10:41):
got a responsibility and a duty. They've got a responsibility
and a duty to do that. And if they don't,
just shows you who they are. They want this, that's
the secret. They want this by any means necessary, is
how these communists act.
Speaker 9 (10:58):
Calling for peace and prayer, So I'm going to ask
you all to join me also and praying for this city,
that we can come together, thank God, at a time
like this, and that we can.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Be there for one another the way we always have.
Speaker 8 (11:24):
Now, no law enforcement was injured during this and This
is also not the first threat or attack in Texas
when it comes to ICE or US Customs and Border Protection.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
Back to you, you were certainly right clearing, Thank you
so much.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
Well, Like she mentioned, there has been multiple threats to
ICE facilities here in North Texas.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
Just in the last few months or so.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
On July fourth, actually, there was a coordinated attack carried
out against an immigration detention center.
Speaker 6 (11:49):
This happened in Albareto.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
Wednesday, authorities pointed to another suspected terror plot.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Listen to this, did you even know about this? One?
Speaker 5 (11:56):
At the Dallas Field office just last month, a man
showed up with a backpack, claiming that it contained a
bomb inside.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
This This stuff is not just happening in event. It's
not happening out of out of nowhere. These people are
being pushed, they're being provoked into these horrific acts, and
we got to call it what it is.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
It is evil.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
But we also see that it's assisted and those folks
again I'm gonna say it one more time that are
aiding in this by ramping up rhetoric or the people
who are not doing their job to just cool it,
because there ought to be everyone from you know, Joe Biden,
whoever you know uses the autopen to writer. It's tweets
(12:40):
these days, down to Barack Obama and even and thankful
that mayor Democrat did actually have some good things to say.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Well, the mirror did.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
And then the people running Gavin Newsom has to be
out right now completely.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Scaling back his activities. He won't, he won't, folks, It's
just these people will tell you who they are. Believe them.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
I wonder if Kim was going to go back on
the air and say this was some sort of maga.
Remember at some point, folks, stand by.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
We'll be back.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
If you're able, please stand rise, join us for our
national anthem informative ENGAGEE.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
It's West Michigan Live with Justin Barklay on news Radio
Wood thirteen hundred and one oh six nine, a f
AS carrier.
Speaker 10 (14:45):
Headlines from the Midwesterner this Thursday, September twenty fifth. I'm
Robin Hoffman. It's a Midwesterner dot News original story. A
big win for parents here in Michigan. A judge gives
the go ahead to parents who are suing Rockford schools
secretly transitioning their daughter to a boy. Dan and Jennifer
Mead say the school violated their First and fourteenth Amendment
(15:07):
rights by socially transitioning their twelve year old middle school
daughter to a male without their permission. A federal district
court judge ruling their.
Speaker 6 (15:17):
Case may move forward.
Speaker 10 (15:19):
The Flint City Council electing a president after seven hundred
and thirty five rounds of voting. There's been ten months
of deadlock. The Incredible story at the Midwesterner Dot News,
and Congress has until the end of this month to
come up with a budget to keep the government up
and running. The White House already warning federal agencies about
the potential for furloughs or even mass firings if lawmakers
(15:42):
can't reach a deal. For these stories and more, visit
the Midwesterner at the Midwesterner dot News.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Oh thanks to the folks at the Good feed Store
keeping me on my toes and on my feet on
the daily. The story is the ones you won't hear
anywhere else, the ones that matter most. We think those
folks all the help. Look, if you've been feeling the foot, paint,
bag pain, leg pain, and you'd like to just be
done with it and get on with your life, especially
as the season turns. Maybe you missed out on some
(16:09):
of that summer fun. Maybe you got all kinds of
great hobbies. Are things that you'd like to do to
enjoy as the weather starts to.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Change, Maybe it's walking around downtown.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Here at art prizes. Things really start to really you know,
just to pick up down here. You see a lot
of people out here walking around and seeing some of
the sights and sounds, and you.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Just wish you could do that again.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Well maybe you can with the help of the Good
Feed Store personalized art supports that have helped me. I'm
telling you my pain has gone. I feel more balance,
more stable. My body just functions better. You can get
to do all the activities and keep up with my
kids like I used to. We went to a football
game last night. So my nephew, he's a he plays football, right,
he's five, and then my niece is six, and then
(16:51):
she does the cheer.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
It's so cute to see him dressed up like that.
But things like that I want to used to dread
back in the day. Not anymore, not since the Good
Feet Store.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Walk into dates Gornyane Street, right in front of Costco
and Portage on Westage in front of Cole's come in
and experience that feeling for yourself at the Good Feet store.
But get in and get it done today. Look, folks,
I got some good news I want to get to
as well. We also have Tom Leonard who's joining us.
I think he came in a top three in that
straw poll on Mackinac Island. We're going to try and
(17:22):
get to that on the way. He'll join us on
the air here in moments. Plus this story you just
turned to Miss Western cover of the Midwestern Get the
judge given a go ahead. The parents is suing Rockford Schools.
They secretly transitioned socially the daughter to a boy, gave
her a new name, all of this behind the scenes
(17:43):
without the parents being aware of it, even in a
place like Rockford. Now you think about it, so not
my school district, not in my backyard. Yeah, it's happening
right here, and they've got good news. In fact, we'll
share some of that coming on. You'll get the latest.
So don't go anywhere. We're back after this on West
Michigan Live.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Setting the record straight.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
It's West Michigan Live with Justin Barklay on news Radio
Wood thirteen. Hundred and one oh six nine a FM.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah, fresh off of mckinaw Island and the MI GOP
Leadership Conference. In fact, they did a straw poll the
Midwestern who sponsored this. A couple of different interesting responses
and results from it. We saw, we saw approval ratings
for President Trump very high. We saw who might run
in twenty twenty eight, and Vice President jd vance up
(18:40):
up the top of that list in a big way.
We also saw sos and AG races polled as well.
But the gubernatorial race is another big one, and our
effort to have everybody on and we I think we may.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Have nearly nearly well, we had a.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
New announcement last this sweek that but we'll cross everybody
off the list.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Needless to say.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
It's a it's a field that picking up steam, getting
crowded every day more and more. But Tom Leonard joins
us right now, former former Speaker of the House here
in Michigan and a really big I think, good showing
there in the poll. Uh so, thank you for taking
a time to be here with us today. You got
to be pretty happy about it that I would think, yeah, I.
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Mean yeah, we were, and I believe justin it shows
a lot of momentum. I mean, as you know, we
got in this this race much later than others. There's
a couple that have been running since January. I think
John James got in in March. We got in in
late June. And frankly, you know, when I went up there,
I thought, because of how late we got in, and
second we didn't spend a lot of money, you know,
(19:45):
taking volunteers and stuff up there. Jell, you know, Hannah, Thomas,
Danny and I we went up there, we enjoyed ourselves
with a couple of campaign workers, and we pulled really well.
And I think it shows a lot of momentum, shows
some great grassroots report or support, and frankly, we had
a really good showing on the panel. I'm convinced that
if that panel had been three or four hours earlier,
(20:07):
we might would have won that poll because the number
of people that walked up this said, my goodness, Tom,
After I watched that forum with all those candidates, there's
there's no doubt you are the one to you know,
lead us going into twenty six. And I wish I
had held my vote until I had seen that forum.
So we were very excited about our showing on the island.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
I got I'd have to ask you, but that was
a really interesting panels, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
It was.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
There's quite a few of you up there and some
that aren't even announced her in the race just yet,
and I thought, well, that was that was kind of
interesting to see the back and forth. But also I
think that when you watch something like that, you kind
of get it. We've got the chance to sort of
compare and contrast, and you can sort of measure each
individual against the other. And in your case, it sounds
(20:54):
like for a lot of folks that's that was helpful.
Speaker 7 (20:58):
Yeah, absolutely, and justin I've been very clear. Listen, the
Democrats gave Republicans a playbook last cycle for what happens
when you're void of a vision, you don't know what
you stand for, and you wake up every day and
your only focus is hatred of one person, you lose,
and frankly, as conservatives and Republicans, we are not immune
to that. If we wake up every day and our
(21:20):
only message is I hate Gretchen Whitmer or I hate
Joslyn Benson, we will suffer the same. Faith. So I've
been very clear, We've got to have a positive vision,
focus on solving problems for the state. And that's what
we did on this panel, and I think a lot
of people saw that we don't just have talking points,
we have a plan. In fact, yesterday we released We're
the only the only campaign this entire cycle on the
(21:42):
Republican or Democrat side. We released an entire policy plan
for how to turn this state around. That's what we're
going to be focused on in the months ahead.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
All right, let's watch through some of that.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
People just maybe getting not just getting to know you,
but becoming refreshed. Former Speaker of the House here and
you've you've you're around the first time with President Trump
was in office the first time of folks may remember.
But what are the big things that stand out for
you the most when you're looking at policy. We've had
a number of these conversations and I could maybe take
(22:12):
a few licks at some of the big things.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
For me, and I don't want to sway. I want
to hear yours too.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
But for me, one of the biggest things I'm watching
right now is we see this effort to really restore
bring in manufacturing. I mean, this is making things in
America again. Essentially, I like to see us make things
in Michigan again, and I don't.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Want to see us miss out.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
I feel like we had this massive push and all
of this investment is coming into the country, but the
way things are set up here in Michigan, largely because
of the last nearly eight years scretching went.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
We're in the Democrats.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
These policies that have kept us, I mean everything from
infrastructure to roads and energy and everything else that's keeping
us from becoming I think a destination that we.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Ought to be.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (22:54):
Absolutely, and that's in our policy plan. So listen. You
know there's many times I've gone on some of these
television shows and the host will asked me about President
Trump's tariffs and whether or not I think they're going
to work. And I've said, yes, I believe they're going
to But as somebody running for governor, I think you're
asking the wrong question. I think the question has to
be when these tariffs start to work, and thousands of
(23:15):
manufacturing jobs start to come back to the United States,
will they choose Michigan. And my argument right now would
be no, we repealed right to work when right to
workers repealed a couple of years ago, Michigan was thirty
six out of fifty front employment not good enough. But
now we're forty eight out of fifty. We were one
tenth of one percent off of the national average. Now
(23:35):
I believe we're two percent. We've done nothing but declined
since then. We got to bring right to work, but
licensure reciprocity. I gave this example on the forum. My
uncle married my aunt about ten twelve years ago. They
moved back here to be closer to family. He was
a journeyman electrician in South Carolina for twenty years. He
moves to Michigan. It takes him four months to find
(23:56):
a job, not because there wasn't a job available, but
because the state of she again forced him to jump
through all of these hoops to find one. We got
to grant reciprocy. If you're certified to work in another state,
let's give you a job when when when you get here.
But one of the big the one one of the
big issues are examples I gave on the regulatory side.
In November, there were two bills that were introduced. One
(24:18):
was going to put a substantial burden on plumbers, the
other electricians. The one that involved plumbers made it to
the governor's desk. She signed it. The one that involved electricians.
It died. Why because the environmentalists came in and said,
if you pass this bill and the substantial burden is
placed on electricians, we will no longer be able to
build thousands of acres of solar farms across this state.
(24:41):
That tells me there are legislators in Lansing right now
that care more about solar farms than they do care
about building affordable housing. That's wrong. That's a mentality we
got to change.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Yeah, that's a big that's a big topic of conversation.
A lot of people talking about, particularly those those solar farms.
And look, there's been such a push when we talk
about energy. It's not just here former Speaker Tom Leonard
with us right now running for governor here in Michigan
in twenty twenty six. But I've seen it in the Midwest.
I've seen it. You know, people's rates are going up residentially,
(25:14):
but also we look at energy when it comes for manufacturing.
I mean, these companies they're taking a look at what
it costs to do anything here. And there's been this
push of wind, solar and unicorn farts as I call it.
But there's been this push that is just outpriced us.
Oh dag you and we got to get away from that.
(25:35):
How do we break the back.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
On that thing?
Speaker 7 (25:38):
Well, you look at my plan nuclear. I mean, I
believe we need to start investing in nuclear energy. It's
more efficient, it's more effective, it produces energy, and hey,
for the environmentalists, it doesn't have the carbon emissions that
they're scared of. I don't know why we're not looking
at nuclear, but we just simply just need more competition.
I mean, if solar and wind is the way to go,
which I don't believe it is is, then we should
(26:01):
be able to do this without subsidies and without mandates.
Let's let the free market fix itself. I believe we
need more competition in this market, but nuclear. But also
we've got to make certain we do everything we can
to build this Line five tunnel in northern Michigan. When
I was the House Speaker, we passed the legislation for
the framework to build the tunnel, and unfortunately, because of
one activist Attorney General, as you know, this tunnel has
(26:24):
been held up. Sixty five percent of the propeam users
in northern Michigan depend on this line or the energy
that goes through line five. We've got to build this
tunnel as well.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Yeah, that's unthinkable that we're still even having conversations about
this thing.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
It is, it's a big piece of it. What else
is in the path forward? The plan?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
As we speak with Tom Leonard, who's running for governor
here in Michigan, Well.
Speaker 7 (26:47):
You know, it talks about getting rid of implicit bias training.
I mean, we've got healthcare professionals right now. The state
of Michigan is supposed to be short of eight hundred
primary care physicians by twenty thirty. One third of the
counties in our state are considered maternity deserts because we
don't have an obgyn available. Well, why in the world
do we force all of these healthcare providers now to
(27:09):
take implicit bias training? As well as our troopers and
police officers. I mean, the colonel for the state police,
ninety eight and a half percent of the troopers that
he is supposed to lead have lost confidence in the
job he's doing. A lot of that is because the
implicit bias training that they have to take. Justin I
was a former prosecutor, I read hundreds, if not thousands
(27:30):
of police reports. I went on the streets with these officers.
I never saw an officer target anybody because of the
color of their skin. Now we are essentially telling our
officers and troopers we believe you're racist, and we're going
to make you take implicit bias training before you can
go out on the streets and do your job. So
this plan would get rid of implicit bias training and
state government as well.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Yeah, that's a big one.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Lots of folks looking at that, and I think part
of the big push obviously making America safeer again, but
Michigan as well. We've gotten away from common sense and
a lot of this just is is really truth, logic
and common sense.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
As they say, that's it. Hey, folks want.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
To find out more, Well, I absolutely have you back
on as well in the coming days as things continue
to heat up. But folks want to find out more,
they can go to the website, see the plan and
get all the details.
Speaker 7 (28:17):
There absolutely Tom for Michigan, so it's tom fo or
Michigan dot com. In the entire plan is right there
on the front. There's a link up top. They can
click it, but listen, we're an open book. We're transparent.
Just like with Donald Trump the last election cycle, he
had a positive vision, he was transparent what he wanted
to get done. That's what we're doing with this campaign
as well.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Tom Leonard, former Speaker of the House here in Michigan
running for governor. We appreciate you taking the time to
be here with us today.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Hey, thank you, my friend. Looking forward to the next time.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Absolutely, you got it there you oh folks. I'm telling you,
we're going to get everybody in here, and Tom's when
we wanted to. We just it took us a while
to get it done. I'm thankful that we did and
got a chance to see him in the panel this
weekend up in Macna. We had a fantastic time. So
more coming up totter. In fact, I got some good
news I want to share with you coming up next.
(29:08):
Don't miss out. We'll be right back after this on

Here are your headlines from the Midwesterner this Thursday, September
twenty fifth. I'm Robin Hoffman. It's a Midwesterner. Dot News
original story. Michigan Secretary of State Democrat Jocelyn Benson busy
crafting her narrative as she prepares to run her own
campaign for governor in twenty twenty six. In comments online,
Benson framing President Trump's efforts to bolster election security here
(29:50):
as a power grab with Justice Department back in July
requesting information on Michigan's bloated voter rolls and all the
illegal votes cast. Back in twenty twenty four, the Flint
City Council ELECTSA president after seven hundred and thirty five
rounds of voting. There's been ten months of deadlock. The
full story for you right now at the Midwesterner dot News.
(30:12):
And a judge gives the go ahead to parents who
are suing Rockford Schools for secretly transitioning their daughter to
a male. Dan and Jennifer Mead say the school violated
their First and Fourteenth Amendment rights by socially transitioning their
middle school daughter to a boy without their permission. A
federal District court judge ruling this case may move forward.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
I gotta do this. I'm telling you right now. Just
indulge me for a moment, if you will. This is
a story that you have to hear. In fact, I
got another really good piece of news that I want
to I want to share with you coming up in
just a little bit. This was good and bad news.
I was just talking about Macinlot. It was heading up
there for the big MiG P leadership conference over the weekend,
(31:02):
and halfway up I get the call from Lizzie and
this is always the way this has happened. By the way,
very similar thing happened a couple of years back out
when Lizzie was pregnant. I think with Anna our second. Anyway,
time flies, I can't remember. We got a last minute call,
late sort of call, and these folks sprung into action.
(31:25):
So I'm on my way Friday afternoon, running up to
mcnaugh to cover everything, and Lizzy said, the airs out,
and of course it's still hot. You know, it's not
running in the machine. The thing outside, she said, is
making lots of noise like oh no, of course, just
when I'm running out the door, wouldn't you know it
(31:46):
I was able to get on the phone and talk
with my good friends at pro Tech Heating and Cooling,
and Lisa and the team just took such great care
of us.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
They sent some great folks out justin who was able
to take a look at everything.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Pretty much knew that well, the news was was going
to be pretty happy that it was. It was going
to be probably a new air conditioner. But what we
didn't know, which is the crazy part of this, is
the air conditioner. It's like thirty years old anyway, right
this thing was on its last leg. The thing was
leaking some sort of water. It had like a pool
(32:20):
two inches of water, and it gone through the furnace
and it ruined the furnace that was just put in
a few years back. Not only do we need a
new air conditioner, but we needed a new furnace. And
thankfully Protech was there, like the last minute, when we
really needed it, they were there to help. So I
just want to shine a light on them because they've
been fantastic through it all, working with us to get
(32:43):
it done and quickly keeping us.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
You know, back up in record time. Same thing happened.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
We had a water heater go out not too long ago,
and my wife was pregnant. She's running to the doctor soon,
you know, to get to get one of her appointments
and checkups. And they were able to get us back
up and running a no time flat, and gosh, I
just I'm so grateful. Let me tell you, we talk
about these they're not just sponsors, but these people are
(33:11):
friends and I consider them such. So we are just
so grateful for everything they do. If you need anything,
if you want to get your furnace looked at before
we get into those you know, cooler months, et cetera,
protechgr dot com, I highly recommend them protechgr dot com.
This isn't an ad, It's just me saying to you.
You know, I really only talk about folks I love
(33:32):
and use, and this is just another another great example. Hey,
I've got some good news, and I mentioned this earlier
and I want to make sure that we cover it
here as well. In fact, you've probably heard it on
the Midwest Inner Reports as well. But this is a
local couple out of Rockford, Rockford Public Schools. They had
to sue because the schools transition their daughter to a boy.
Now this is a public a public school socially transitioning,
(33:58):
and what that means is instead of calling the daughter
by her name, they gave her new pronouns, male pronouns,
and gave her a new name.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
This whole process has.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Been a wild I think we may have even had
them on the air before to talk about it. That
they've sued, They've they've won a very a very big
case federal district court. When I think it was last
last week, they were able to move forward with their case.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
And it's all by the way.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
This is going to shift things every not just in
the state of Michigan, but all over the country, I'm
assuming at some point. But the mother, Jennifer, testified yesterday
and I thought this was worth sharing.
Speaker 11 (34:39):
A school employee sent us an academic report with notes
for my daughter's past and current teachers. But oddly, some
of the teacher's notes talked about a boy, or at
least referred to a boy's name and used male pronouns.
I assume this was a mistake, so I emailed the
school employee to see a she had inadvertently included another
(35:02):
child's information in the report, but she didn't respond. My
husband and I discovered that the school, including the counselor
that we had put so much trust in was socially
transitioning our daughter and hiding it from us. Can't imagine
We later found out that teachers and staff had been
(35:27):
treating our daughter as a boy without our knowledge.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Can you imagine this?
Speaker 2 (35:32):
You send your kid off, you think that they're in
the best hands, end that.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
They're going to be fine.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
You just hope and pray right that this type of
thing is happening under your No, you didn't even know
behind you're back, You had no idea, and she just
found out my mistake. I believe this testimony took place
yesterday at the Religious Liberty Commission hearing. Again, that's Jennifer Me.
There's more on this story. We'll continue to cover it.
That's another piece of good news, so folks that you
(35:59):
ought to keep you in the fight and keep you
updated encouraged. Good things are happening behind the scenes. More
on that in the after Show. I get into that
coming up next. If you ever want to be a
