Speaker 1 (00:00):
Date for each night on that story, and it's a
sad one. Marlena Pablo's hackney is in jail. She was
arrested very early this morning before six am by police,
taken away in ankle shackles and wrist cuffs. One of
the few people in this country gets up really early
to go to work because she really cares, trying her
very hardest, and they grabbed her and they sent her
away for longer than people who commit gun crimes in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Get We're to put a blast from the past there
to see this and hear this to Tucker back on
Fox Mareal, we gonna add jail in jail at that time,
Brett Brigus on the phone line with us now heading
up this committee. She was one targeted as well during
all of this. Rep thank you so much for taking
the time to share with us the behind the scenes
of some of the things that have happened. Of course
(00:46):
the latest as Republicans now controlling the House, trying to
get some oversight here.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, good morning, justin thanks for having.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Me my pleasure, so tell us about how this all
came together.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
So it was named as chair of a state weaponization
of government. Obviously COVID was pretty high on the list
right for having some hearings and and we need we
need a refresher on this justin because some people would say, oh,
this was four years ago, why are you bothering?
Speaker 2 (01:18):
But it's our.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Duty to go back and see the and understand the
catastrophic failures of our government. And how do we put
up guard rails so that the government will no longer
be able to weaponize, you know, certain departments against the
citizens of our state. And that was my reasoning behind this,
because we do need to make changes in landing that
(01:41):
will prohibit this action, these actions from ever being a
possibility again. And some people, you know, lots of people
want to come in and talk about COVID. We could
do COVID probably hearings every day for the next five years.
This is how many people have been negatively impacted. You know,
Dana and Essyl as extreme enforcement of an unconstitutional executive order, right,
(02:07):
But we chose the twist high profile obviously, Marlena Hackney
and Carl Manke their stories move you, their stories inspire you,
but they also outrage us that these things happened. So
how can we prevent it? That's what that's what we're
(02:28):
digging into. You know, it's not just a simple oversight
hearing where they come in and you know the media
reports on, you know, the things that they said. But
watching the presentation of Marlene's attorney, the emails on the
screen showing Dana and Esyl scheming to make sure that
that Marlene is arrested before Suson Tucker Carlton is shocking.
(02:50):
But what's even more shocking is that we don't really
know if the warrant had been even issued at that time. Wow. Yes,
that came out in the hearing that Marlena was never
given a copy of that warrant. She's never seen the warrant.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Incredible.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
So now we have to go back and we're going
to have to request more documents from Nesso's office on
this case and how the timeline of how things played out,
and if she doesn't comply. You know, I was happy
in the Main Oversight to vote for subpoena power, so
we have that ability through main oversight, and I'm not
(03:34):
afraid to do a subpoena request on this Attorney General
so we can get the answers that Marlena deserves. And
then we're working with conservative think tanks behind the scenes
to how can we put policies in place, a legislation
to put guardrails on these departments and put guardrails on
(03:54):
the governor and looking at the process of emergency emergency declarations.
So we're going to fight to fix what happened.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
We'll folks want to see this rights. We want to
see it all, all of it straightened up and put
back on track. And I know that you're working hard
to do that. I know folks want to be able
to reach out to you and talk to you during
this process and of course things that they're sing. The
best way to get ahold of you, Rep while we
have you here.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Sure go to reprigas the House Representatives website. Go to reprigus.
You can send me an email right there, or you
can call my office. We're only you know, state weaponization.
That's my committee. But I'm also a vice chair of
the Child Welfare Committee as well. So we have a
lot going on with CPS, catastrophic failures within the CPS system,
(04:53):
and we had an explosive hearing last week as well
on that. And I can come back later a date
and maybe talk through some of those things, but the
weaponization of government. Ninety percent of the people that have
reached out to us or we've reached out to them
are either too scared to come forward publicly to testify,
(05:13):
or they're already in litigation with data and asshol.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
I can imagine how frightening that all must be. But
that's such an important subject as well. Rep Please come on,
let's talk about that again. In the future, we'll have
to have you back on. Thank you so much for
taking the time today.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Thank you for sharing the story justin We appreciate everything
you do.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
My pleasure. God bless make it a great weekend.
