Speaker 1 (00:00):
Our good friend Kyle Olsen joining us on the program. Now, Kyle,
how do you think you do on that presidential fitness test?
Are you you? Could you climb the rope like Adam Center?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Probably not like they used to, Not like you used to.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
No, you got some You got some boys that could
do that. Though your sons they could, they could probably
they'd probably do pretty well with that, wouldn't they.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Oh? Oh yeah, I yes, It's very sad because I
would take my son, he's on the varsity golf team,
and we'd go out. Last year, I beat him. This
year he's like a machine and he just blows me away.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
How old is see? Now he's seventeen, see, you know,
and you just don't have it like you used to.
And they're just coming into their prime. So it's I
that's a tough moment as a dad, I'm sure. Oh
my goodness. Well, I can imagine lots to talk about,
and we're going to get into all of these things.
This one of the tariffs on the top of the list,
you know, for for What's Happening today Deadline Day. We
(00:58):
also have Whitmer up there, and it's kind of interesting
because she's sort of talking out of both sides of
her mouth. She's launching an investigation into this terrace and
the impact here in Michigan. I've yet to see a
single thing that I that I've paid for that I've
seen a noticeable difference. And I'm not saying there isn't
an impact. I'm just telling you, like, I haven't seen anything,
(01:19):
like you know, the cost of eggs has even come down,
and we've seen other things, but I just haven't seen
anything that is a noticeable difference that make me say, Okay,
I guess I'm paying more for this or that, and
these tariffs are really getting me. Although what I have
seen is lots of fear mongering and scare tactics from
the mainstream media and potentially even like local media as
(01:44):
well recently on this. So it just makes me wonder
what really is going on behind this and the political
motivation behind it.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Well, that's I think that's exactly what's going on. It's
the fear mongering, and what we're seeing is a number
of stories that they use the word could or may
and so they're speculating, and there's I don't I didn't
think we were supposed to see a lot of speculation
in the media. We were supposed to see facts and
(02:13):
unbiased reporting, but yet we're seeing from a lot of
TV stations, newspapers, et cetera. They're speculating about what this
may mean. And and it's funny because you know, greta
Whitmer she is. She has been out attacking the tariffs,
and yet clearly the tariffs are driving jobs and businesses
(02:35):
and companies back home.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
See that's just what I mean, I mean the impact
of tariffs. I don't think you have to look much
further than the new jobs created as these plants firing
back up, and and and uh and it's going to
be a boon to the auto industry. I've already seen
and heard a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Of that right well, And so just to sort of
expose her hypocrisy, you know, she has been, as you
and I have talked about, she has been sort of
the EV Queen of Michigan, and she has gambled the
auto industry and are to a large extent, our state's
future on EV's and and so clearly people consumers are
(03:14):
not buying EV's. So then you had GM announced that
they are expanding operations in in Michigan. But it's for
gas powered trucks and in diesel trucks. And she comes
out and you know, basically claims credit for that, but
it was because of the Trump tariffs. And here she is,
(03:36):
you know, six months ago she was talking all about
EV's and now she's celebrating that gas powered trucks are
going to be expanding. It's you can't make it up.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, this this whole thing again. It just reeks of
some sort of political back and forth, a fight, and
it's anything and everything they can do to bring try
and bring President Trump down. By the way, I think
a lot of people are catching on to it. Here's
another lawsuit out today. We're learning about Joscelyn Benson at
(04:09):
the center of this newest lawsuit. A driver testing company
in Michigan, Johnny's Road Testing, owned and by retired Detroit
firefighter Jonathan grem filing its second lawsuit against the Secretary
of State. And there's some racial accusations involved in this.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Yeah, her office is So what a lot of people
may not understand or know is that the driver's training process,
the program, the testing, and everything is regulated by the
Secretary of State's office. And I've heard from other companies
how difficult it is to work with her office, and she,
(04:49):
I mean, she has the ability to just shut these
companies down if that's what she chooses to do. And
so this company in particular, they're accusing her her staff
of racism and racial bias and all of that sort
of thing, and and they need to get to the
bottom of what exactly is going on. But you're right,
(05:11):
this is another lawsuit against her, against her department. We've
seen a lot of election related lawsuits and and voting
you know, ballot lawsuits, et cetera. And now it's it's
affecting the driver side of the department.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Isn't that something I had to run in this week
with the Secretary of State?
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I saw that.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
I mean, you see, you know what, Actually it kind
of picked up stein got made the rounds. You know,
It's kind of interesting to me, is there's a lot
of contention there at how the Secretary of State. Now
I'm just talking about the driver's license tags portion. Well,
I had a birthday. So what happened was we got
pulled over Sunday night coming back from the cottage. My
(05:56):
birthday was on the seventeenth, and so we got pulled over, Hey,
did you know your tax are expired? Well, I thought
I had to the end of the month. Now they're
expired on your birthday. I was very nice, very nice
sheriff deputy talked and said, yeah, get everything, take care.
So the very next day, I think it was, I said,
go out and gonna go to where I normally do.
(06:16):
Get this tick and I go to Sparta. Now I
can tell you this now because the secret's out of
the bag. But I used to drive to Sparta. I
don't mind the drive, just a little bit off the
beaten path. You used to be able to walk right in,
get anything done you needed to done with within with minutes.
That was it. Now, since they've introduced this whole appointment thing,
and this is since COVID, I think it's completely botched
(06:37):
everything up. People tell me think, oh, it's so much
nicer you make an appointment. I've seen people, you know,
criticizing what I was saying on this this this thing
I put out the other day, this video talking about
how hard it was. Well, I see, don't you have
a machine I can just do these tags on Because
the lady in the office said, sorry, you're gonna have
to make an appointment. Do you have an appointment? I said, no,
(06:59):
I don't have appointment to pay a couple of bucks
and get well, it was a lot more than a
couple of bucks for two plates, and you know, I'm
thinking it's like like five hundred dollars, which I'm thinking,
that's that's something else in itself, which I think is
really tough for people to swallow when they go in.
And then they didn't have a machine. So she said,
if you want to, you can wait, but we're full today.
(07:20):
There's just you know, she's essentially telling me you'd probably
better off going someplace else, going down to the mere
or wherever it's at. So they've got these machines, it's
like an ATM or a vending machine kind of thing.
They got them in Myers and on some of these
other places, but they didn't have one in the Secretary
of State office, which blew my mind. And then you
use the machine, which I will say it was fast
(07:42):
and it moved very quickly. I don't know if it
was as fast as a human would have been, but
the machine moved very quickly. But I had to pay
an extra four or five bucks for each plate because
it was using a credit card or a debit card
or whatever it was. And so I just, in a
moment of frustration, said, you know, that's Jocelyn Benson's secretary
(08:04):
of state. She can't even run this thing, and now
she wants to be governor. By the way, why don't
anybody who loves the secretary of state or going or
to the DMV in any state, no matter where it is,
the government doesn't do just doesn't do things well or efficiently.
But my point was, Kyle, that's the way she's going
to run everything if she becomes governor.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
Right, And so in their minds, this whole reservation you know,
strategy makes sense because oh, you're able to control the
flow of people and all of that. But a lot
of people, as you said, they're not aware. They're not
aware of the documents that they need to bring, they're
not aware that they need to make a reservation, and
(08:47):
it's just not The whole process is not very customer friendly.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
That told me you should just go online. Just go online,
it's so much easier to do. I said, well, they're
going to give me my tags online. I mean, how
does that work? Now? They got to marrint to you
then there's a.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Des A lot of people can't do that.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Yeah, and I want I want it now. So if
we had a solution that if I could walk in
and get it now. By the way, I eventually went
down to the playing field Secretary of State and everybody
told me, everybody had said all this this disappointment thing
works so much better. I got video inside that Secretary
of State and it was a madhouse. It was a madhouse.
(09:26):
It's incredible.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah, it's something I think the next Secretary State needs
to look at. You know, there's been a lot of
focus on elections, which obviously has been very important, absolutely,
but streamlining and making it easier and more efficient and
increasing duties that that potentially dealerships can do. There's just
(09:51):
a lot of things I think that can be done,
but somebody's got to focus on that.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
We're going to have a conversation a podcast this weekend
with Pat Colbeck a little bit later on today an
election integrity updates, So we're going to dive into that,
I think even even further. But it's is it is
something else that I think a lot of people are
paying attention to, and yeah, it should be top of
(10:15):
mind for folks. All right, quickly and a little bit
of fun. I don't know if you saw this, it
was interesting to see because especially when you're behind the scenes.
There's how she was skipping work to go on the
failing canceled Colbert program, Senator Alissa Slotkin taking time away
from doing her duty there at to send it to
to go talk with with Colbert, who show just got canceled.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
A lot of people, sort of conspiratorially minded people out
there like to think that some of the trouble the
United States has is because of the what they call
the deep state.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Okay, and as a former spy.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Is there is there a deep state? What do they
mean by deep state?
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I just I wish people could understand that a lot
of the guys that I I serve with, Guy Zangils
at the CIA or at the Pentagon, where I serve
first of all, a lot of them are former military.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
So she's so condescending in this answer, by the way,
she said there's no deep state, no deep state. The
same week we get these smoking gun documents coming out
that they basically planned a coup against President Trump, but
we've got the proof of it. How crazy is this?
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Right? And so she's it seems like she's just doing
any media that she possibly can. She went on another
program earlier this week where she sort of faced this
buzzsaw of people who were very pro Gaza pro Hamas
in my opinion, and she was sort of but she
wouldn't answer the questions. She was sort of waffling around
(11:42):
and wouldn't directly answer the questions. So then the Democrats,
you know, arrange this vote in the Senate and they
they because they want to block defensive arms to Israel,
believe it or not, and she skips the vote to
go talk about hot dogs on Colbert, which you know,
(12:02):
we could probably talk another time about Colbert, but everybody
is outraged that he is that his show has been canceled.
But he's so partisan, and yes, you can make fun
of politics, but he has really sort of a nasty
edge to him. And when he's got Alyssa slocked in
and then he has Kamala Harris last night, which was
(12:23):
totally bizarre, that's that's when you lose the audience. And
you know, Jay Leno made a really good observation that
why would you why would you be so partisan and
effectively eliminate half of the potential audience. Why would you
do that, That's what they've done.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Kyle Alison. Do you think she's going to try and
run for president? There's been some rumors about that. Alyssa Slockin.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
My guess is she's probably well, it could be, but
my guess is she's probably angling for vice president. But
who knows.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
