Speaker 1 (00:00):
Back after it are good friend Kyle Olson back from
DC the swamp. Indeed, Kyle, welcome in the Midwestern or
dot News. Let's start fresh with the big story, the
top of the stack. We got so much to get
to today, but let's start with us, John Bolton, the
Deep State is home being rated sort of a sounds
like a very similar case to what they did with
(00:20):
President Trump and mar A Lago, but sounds like there
may have been some actual documents that they were looking
at here.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Well, this is I think, I don't think anybody should
be surprised. I mean President Trump and and you know,
many members of his administration have long said that the
deep state was weaponized against him, and so this is
not a surprise and it's going to be interesting to
see how this unfolds, you know. And what we have
(00:51):
seen is that, you know, there's allegations against Adam Schiff,
there's allegations against James Tomi. So there's many that you know, basically,
people have said they used the government, they selectively leaked information,
classified information. And now it appears accountability is coming.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Well from your lips to God's ears. I think that's
what folks would say this morning as you're watching this. Yeah,
we voted for this, and and part of that would
also be with some of these schemes they were running
behind the scenes. You mentioned Adam Shift, but Letitia James
and these mortgage scheme operations that they had going on
behind it. They never thought they would get busted because
(01:36):
they were part of the machinery. They were part of
the see this, so they didn't There's.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
No way any of this will ever take place.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I'm getting a retweet from Dan's Covino back in twenty
four what did John Bolton do with all of his
yellow notepads that he always took copious notes on in
the cabinet room, the oval office, the situation room, traveling abroad,
et cetera, et cetera. That's from December, about a year ago. Interesting,
somebody sent that to me as we shared this story
(02:07):
this morning.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
So this is something that's just developing.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
We're going to have more of it, and I'm sure
as the story continues to unfold, we'll share with you
some of the big things that are happening. In fact,
there are lots of big things happening here in Michigan.
Just on my list today, I got a couple of
really big stories. Whitmer's Michigan more bad economic news for
the Democrat governor. Five thousand jobs lost in in July alone,
(02:31):
the unemployment rate at five point three percent, the third
highest in the country.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Incredible.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
So what is she doing.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
She's going to Japan jet set.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah, she's topping on her broomstack in Japan for two weeks.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
It's incredible.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
And here we on the Midwestern we cover what's happening
in Lansing. They don't have a budget, and a lot
of Lansing media is, you know, panicking because there's no budget.
House Speaker Matt Hall, it appears what he is doing
is holding the line on spending and he is saying
(03:12):
we have waste, fraud, and abuse. The state budget under
Gretchen Whitmer has gone up billions and billions of dollars
every single year, something like thirty billion dollars since she
has taken office, which, if you figure the budget is
now proposed about eighty three billion dollars, She's added thirty
(03:35):
billion dollars to get to that point. She has massively
grown spending, and Matt Hall and the House Republicans are saying,
we have got to get this under control and so,
but so as this deadline, it's a September thirty October
first deadline is looming for a state budget. Gretchen Whitmer says,
(03:55):
I'm going to Japan for two weeks in September. These
are not serious people. And so, yes, we had a
story about economic data. Michigan continues to net lose jobs.
And so instead of going to Ohio or Indiana, or
Illinois or Wisconsin or California or New York or states
(04:17):
in the United States of America, Gretchen Whitmer is going
halfway across the world for what Because she has gone
to other countries in Asia, she's gone to Europe, she's
gone to the Middle East and has nothing to show
for it. So when she goes to Japan for two weeks,
what is she going to have to show for it?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Yeah, you know what's interesting about this particularly this is
all happening at the same time they still haven't held
an election, the special election that's still floating out there.
Speaker Matt Hall saying, by the way, if you don't
pass a budget, we want to pass this deal where
you're not going to get paid and Democrats not. I'm
fans of that, no budget, no pay kind of like
(05:00):
the sound of that. The other thing that he's speaking
out about, which I think is a big issue here
in Michigan, folks, is going to creep up if we
don't step up and do something again against it. Is
that ranked choice voting, and that's a scam.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
And where they're.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Doing this in other places you've already seen that sort
of Alaska and a few other places where they're doing this,
it has dire consequences.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
He's moving to get a ban on this right now.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Do you think they'll get that done or Democrats just
going to say, nah, we want to try and do
whatever we can to scam the system.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Well, it passed through the House. The state Senate is
not doing a whole lot, and I suspect that they
want ranked choice voting. The Democrats do, and so it's
probably it's going to have a tough time in the Senate.
But the House Republicans took a stand on it and
said this is not a change that we want. What's
interesting is that a few months ago Jocelyn Benson, the
(05:55):
Secretary of State, actually sort of said we've had massive
changes in the last two election cycles to our election system,
and so we shouldn't do another one, and so she
sort of came out against it. Interesting though she's not
I think she's trying to play both sides. But the
point is, yes, this the public awareness campaign about ranked
(06:18):
choice voting what it does in places like New York
and Alaska. And it's interesting because the guy from Alaska,
who's spent millions of dollars on this, a very wealthy guy,
came to Michigan to do this, and so it's not
people in Michigan, because people in Alaska are trying to
impose this on Michigan, on the Michigan the Michigan election system.
(06:39):
And so it's interesting to see how quickly the House
moved to try and get ahead of this and protect
the state from this. We'll have to see what the
Senate does.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Kyle.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Also in the Midwest and the Midwestern our dot nows ringing
the alarm. In fact, we got to somebody over on
I think it was Terry over the other day. So
thank you for streaming the press conference with Matt Hall,
the Speaker of the House the other day. Midwesterner bringing
a lot of that content to you. In fact, I
know you've been ringing the alarm with the live stream
of the event that happened with Detroit mayor Democrat Doug
(07:14):
and who really he is. He's running as an independent,
he is all on board as a Democrat. He won't
tell you that, but there's a reason why you're ringing
the alarm on this. It was a big event and
it seems as though they've got their stuff together in
some ways. Is he somebody we ought to be alarmed
about as Republicans moving into this next election?
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Well, I think Mike Dougan concluded he couldn't win a
Democrat primary against Joscelyn Benson, which may actually be a
different story now because Benson has not run a very
good campaign. But he decided he was a made no mistake.
He is not an independent. He's a Democrat. As recently
(07:58):
as last summer he was a delegate to the Democrat
National Convention for commonin Harris. He's not an independent, and
we make that very clear. But he did this massive
event in had looked like hundreds of people in Detroit
where he was touting endorsements from Republicans, independents, Democrats. The
(08:23):
mayor of Hudsonville was there and endorsing him. You have
to ask the mayor of Hudsonville why he would do that.
I don't know why he would do that, but he did.
And so what we are so we're reporting what's going on.
And if you're triggered by facts, then you probably shouldn't
read The Midwesterner because all we're doing is reporting what
(08:44):
is going on in the state of Michigan. And what
I'm seeing is the quote unquote he's running as an independent.
He's not an independent, but I see the independent candidate
out campaigning, and I see some Republican candidates, including the
so called front runner, not working very hard and so
(09:05):
and so what we're doing is sounding the alarm that
as Republican candidates are on vacation, or they're in northern
Michigan for a long time, or they're in Europe or
whatever they're doing, Mike Duggan is out getting endorsements. He's
raising money from Republican donors, et cetera. And people love
(09:28):
to attack donors, but they're the ones that help candidates win.
And there are a lot of Republican donors we've reported
about this that are going and supporting Mike Duggan. Now
it's entirely possible. They're doing it because they have business
in the city. I don't know they want to continue
to the corporate welfare. I don't know why they're doing that,
(09:48):
but the point is they're doing that. And so the
Republican candidates have got to get serious because Mike Duggan
is a serious candidate and Jocelyn Benson or whoever the
Democrat candidate is is going to have tens of millions
of dollars to paint Mike Duggan as a Republican. So
they've got to wake up.
