Speaker 1 (00:00):
Broncos veterans reporting to training camp and Valley today at
the Broncos facility, of course, and they're going to report
it yesterday and they're going to take part in ramp
up practices today and Thursday before training camp officially begins
with an open to the public workout Friday.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Joining us now on the KWA Commet Spirit Health Hotline
as host of KA Sports, It's Ryan Edwards. Ryan, thank
you so much for joining us as always. Okay, so first,
before we kind of dive into the team specifics, let's
talk a little bit about the expectations for training camp.
Do we think it's going to look and feel very
different for fans this year? We already saw the Broncos
post some development video photos of the construction of what
(00:36):
we're seeing at the training camp facility. So is it
going to be just a different experience for fans?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I think so. I mean, again, you know, you're not
having the hill for the fans to be on, and
you know, usually several thousand fans can filter in. We're
going to be under that number, I think around eight hundred.
So it's going to be in the bleachers, which is
going to be kind of facing the long way of
the field each way, so you know, you used to
be the hill was the best spot, honestly for a
(01:03):
lot of media. When they had put us up there
instead of along the sideline next to the main building.
We kind of sort of appreciate it. Of course we're
in the sun a little more, but we had better
view of the practices this case. Now the fans are
going to be kind of looked the long way down
each of the practice fields. So yeah, definitely had a
different experience, but we'll see how it goes.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Biggest area of improvement, Ryan, at least on paper.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, that's a great question. I mean running back for sure,
you'd have to say running back. You added to running
backs and JK. Dobbins and R J. Harvey. The expectation
is the Broncos will be a much more balanced team
on offense and we'll have a lot more effective running game.
We saw it last year. They just they couldn't lean
on it when they needed to, and that was a problem,
especially late in the season. I think safety when you
(01:53):
talk about Teleno Hufonga over PJ Lock. PJ of course
coming back from a significant surgery where we had a
spinal usion, so Tellano Hufanga is an immediate upgrade there
as long as he's healthy. And then of course Dray
green Law there at ensign linebacker, he represents maybe a
top probably a top ten inside linebacker, maybe even top
five when he's completely healthy. And right, they haven't had
(02:15):
one of those guys in a little while too, So yeah,
i'd say those are three spots, but certainly running back's
got to be at the top.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
What do the next couple practices look like? Before fans
are allowed in these ramp up practices, what can we
expect to see?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Yeah, they call these like acclamation practices, acclamation periods. You know,
I imagine it'll be a little bit of a version
of OTAs from what we saw, where you know, they're
kind of out there in shorts, they're kind of just
getting going, obviously not pads till till much later in
this process. Maybe it's a slight ramp up from OTAs
because they do want to work to a point where
(02:50):
they're getting into training camp practice training camp mode, which
it starts on Friday, So you know, we'll see a
little bit of a ramp up. But I imagine the
next couple of days, you know, we'll see some drills,
we'll see some stuff that we're used to seeing out
at OTAs and that's about it.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Okay. Biggest area of concern for the Broncos well health.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
I mean that I think every year most teams will
point that out. The biggest area concern for me is
you took some swings on players I mentioned, Hufanga mentioned
green Law. Also got to include Evan ingram in there
at tight end, who's also had his injuries. I mean,
those are your three biggest swings in free agency, and
of course that's the thing that everybody is going to
be watching here because it's like you took some big swings.
(03:30):
You've been a relatively healthy team over the last couple
of years since Sean Payton got here and since the
new ownership sort of revamped the way they've been doing
a lot of those health and safety and those practices.
But yeah, you can't if those don't pan out, those
are going to be massive holes in your team and
people are going to question sort of the thought process there.
(03:51):
So that for me is the biggest one.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
We'll continue following the latest in the days ahead and
more on KOA Sports. Host to KOA Sports it's Ryan Edwards.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Thanks Ryan, thank you,
