Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now on Colorado's Morning News. Four people are dead, including
a police officer, after shooting inside of an office tower
in midtown Manhattan, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tesh.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Building security camera footage shows the shooter enter the lobby,
turn right, an immediately open fire on an NYPD officer.
He then shoots a woman who took cover behind a pillar,
and proceeds through the lobby, spraying it with gunfire.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Many questions remain on why the suspected gunman traveled from
Las Vegas to New York and open fire before turning
the gun on himself. Joining us now in the koa
common Spirit health hotline from New York, It's Fox News
Radio's Granal Scott. Thanks for coming on with us, Granal.
What more do we know now at this point, Well.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
The investigation is still continuing and they are trying to,
as you said, figure out a motive as to what
is happening, and that we have learned something. The Mayor
of New York, Eric Adams, did say that a suicide
note was found in the shooter's pocket. It claimed that
(01:02):
he suffered from CTE from playing football, and the mayor
said that the man alleged that he played football in
the NFL. He never played in the NFL according to
any kind of research we've done. But it does indicate
that it zeros in on a possible motive, that the
NFL may have been the target of the shooting. They're
(01:25):
still trying to flash all of that out, but it
does appear a little clearer why this man drove all
this way from Nevada to New York City to go
to that particular location where the NFL headquarters is.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Now, we know there's a lot of other things in
this building, let alone the NFL headquarters. Tell us a
little bit about what other companies are in it and
what was on the thirty third floor, because from what
I'm reading, that was not the NFL headquarters.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
No, and there may have been some kind of mistake
made by the shooter as he went up there. On
the thirty third floor was Bot Management. It is a
management agency that manages several high rise buildings in New
York City. But he did go up to that thirty
(02:13):
third floor killed someone on that floor. Now, just a
search for me found that there's no real connection to
Rudin or Las Vegas or anything like that. So it
appears that in trying to find the NFL offices, he
ended up on a different four than he intended to
(02:35):
go to. But again, all this is still being investigated
and continues to be fleshed out by the NYPD with
the help of the Las Vegas Police Department, who have
descended on his home trying to find evidence there. So
the two agencies are working together to try to get
as many answers as they can and.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Gernau maybe too early, At the risk of asking it
too early, it sounds like this person had men mental
health issues. Do we know how they got access to
a gun bought?
Speaker 5 (03:03):
What?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Do we have any of those details yet?
Speaker 4 (03:06):
And we don't right now they're trying to figure out
exactly where the gun was purchased. But he did have
a concealed carry permit in Nevada. Now, one thing I
did look up is the fact that Nevada does have
its own version of a red flag law, which would
allow law enforcement or a family member to petition to
(03:27):
have any guns taken away if there were concerns about
his behavior. That apparently did not come into play. The
fact that he had a concealed carry permit and access
to an M four rifle that he brought with him
to New York City. That's another question that's going to
have to be answered down the road, especially in the
(03:48):
state of Nevada, if that's where that gun was purchased.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
In wrapping up with you, we do know a New
York City police officer was one of the victims. Any
other details of the other victims in the.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
Shooting, No names have been least yet, Jessica Tish, the
NYPD commissioner, said, next to Kim being notified, we may
get those names today, but nothing official.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
We do know two men and a woman along with
the NYPD police officer, Dude mel Islam, a four year
veteran of the police department, with two young boys, a
wife and a child on the way. That's the saddest
part about this story is the fact that this young
(04:32):
police officer had a wife and a growing family and
he has been lost along with those other victims.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Reporting live from New York Fox News Radio is Granal Scott.
Thank you.
