Speaker 1 (00:01):
Think of Colorado's morning news Marty lens Ginaganda, Good morning
to see you. Buffalo's hitting the field to begin Big
twelfth play tonight. They will visit Houston and take on
the Cougars to begin that conference play. The Bus are
reportedly expected to start Ryan Stop at quarterback at the game.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
But Coach Prime, I know what I'm gonna do. No,
he's not gonna sell you. I know exactly what I'm
going to do, and I'm I'm pleased. I'm pleased with
what I've seen.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Is Wig in Breakfast now joining us now on the
KA Commas Beard Hall Hotline, his voice of the Buffs,
Mark Johnson, Mark, good morning, thanks for joining us as always. Okay,
he knows exactly what he's going to do. Do we
know exactly what he's gonna do when it comes to
that starting QB.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Well, he's been pretty tight lift and even when you're
doing the show there the other day, as he just heard,
he was being elusive. I believe it's Ryan stob the
red shirt sophomore quarterback who came in late in the
first half and led the Bus to a touchdown. In fact,
he led at Colorada to three touchdowns in four drives
and so I think that's who it's going to be.
I think that's the way they're leaning. But nobody is.

(01:03):
It's like a state secret right now. Nobody's talking about it.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
You know what I love when you did the press
conference with coach when he talked about some of the
things that he observes when they're not on the field.
It's what they're doing on the sidelines, the activity. Are
they engaged at doing that? And he talked about how
Stob was like, he's always there for his team, He's listening,
he's paying attention, he's cheerleading on and he just likes
that approach and attitude of the QB.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah, you know, and and money. I was impressed by
what he was talking about there, and if the listeners
he didn't hear that. He said there are times during
timeouts when his assistant coaches are dealing with the various
players he saw turn on a look to see who's engaged.
And that's the thing, right, Ryan Stobb's an interesting guy. Now,
remember two years ago the last game of the season
that Utah Shador Sanders was out with an injury. He

(01:44):
started that ballgame and played very well in fact, in
that contest Coloradman just about won that game of the road.
And so he's been a guy that Primes kind of
had his eye on. He didn't recruit Ryan Stobb, that
was the previous staff and he's a holdover. And but
he's been impressed with the way he kind of has
handled himself, how engaged he's been. He did tell me,
you know, they keep tabs on film study on the iPads,
and he said he's the number one quarterback in term

(02:06):
of time spent studying game film and prepare film and
preparing even though he's been a third string quarterback. And
so he's the guy that's always been engaged, been a professional,
had a professional approach, if you will, towards playing for
this football team. And that's certainly impressed him. And when
he's been out there, he's played very well in the
handful of times he's got a chance to get on
the field.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Park Let's talk Houston real quick. The Denver Post says,
he who's won its first and only matchup against Houston
at the Blue Bonnet Bowl in nineteen seventy one. I
assume a lot has changed from the seventies two with
the team today, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yeah, And by the way. I've been around a long time.
I did not do that game, by the way, so
I've been to that long. But yeah, they're an interesting team.
They run a very unique defense. Football fans out there
may remember this term from thirty years ago. Some teams
played a double eagle defense. They do that. It's kind
of a unique thing. What it does. It kind of
entices you to run. You look at it and say, well,
we're going to run against that, and then it becomes

(02:59):
very tough once once the ball is staffed in some
of the changes they make. So I'll be watching early.
Can Colorietta run against this team to set up the
pass for a quarterback in n stob if it's him
that likes to throw the ball and he is effective
of throwing the ball. And then offensively, Houston's a run
first team. They're averaging just about two hundred yards per game.
They've got a very good running back to transferred in
for Rice, and so we'll see a coupletta can stop

(03:21):
their run and slow them down. The tempts aren't going
to be awful here in Houston today. They've been in
kind of a cooling period, so it's not like one
of those stifling kind of times, you know, in September
you kind of expect here in the state.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
And I want to ask you, since you see these games,
did see you make the improvement we tend to see
or talk about all the time between the first and
second game? And well, will Houston actually be a real
better barometer for the program? Georgia Tech really good, Delaware
new to the FBS. Is Houston resay? How we do
against this game? How so you does a guess game
will give you a trend for the rest of season?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, I'm on a good question. I mean, I think
we saw improvement, but because you know, I think Delaware
is a solid football team at the can Conference USA
and so, but I was kind of having a tough
time grading that as well. I mean, I do think
Georgia Tech's a very good football team, and they get
a big one with the Clemson this week. And although the
quarterback's not going to play, but yeah, tonight, I think
we'll get another barometer. You know, my partner Gary Barnett

(04:14):
al who says, you don't know what a college football
team is until they play five games. So they will
be game number three and so we'll you know, kind
of adding the evidence up as we go along. But
we're seeing a team that's changing in terms of what
it is from being a passing team to a running team,
and so we're watching this evolution and trying to evaluate that.
So I think we're seeing progress. We hope they take

(04:34):
another step tonight.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Our coverage of the bus Cougar's game starts at three
point thirty here on KOWA Voice of the Buffs Mark Johnson, Mark,
do you get to enjoy the cooler temperatures in Houston
for a little bit any plans?

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Well, when I say cooler, it's still going to be
like ninety five, not overly humid here. So I'm going
to enjoy the air conditioning to the hotel. That's what
I'm going to get the ball game, all right, Thank you,
my friend. Oh, I guess they care.
