Speaker 1 (00:00):
Colorado's Morning News. Colorado State University has another big game
at canvas. Tomorrow is playing Colorado State Pride with the
wearing of the State Pride flag uniforms as they face
Washington State, and big news regarding a big rival next
year for the home football schedule opener.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Joining us now on the KWA Common Spirit Health Hotline
is CSUO Athletic Director John Weber. John, appreciate your time.
As always, Before we get to that big news, the
big rival, let's talk a little bit of what we
can expect for tomorrow's game.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Yeah, we're going to expect another gigantic student section. Our
students have shown up in absolute force, whether it be
volleyball or soccer or football so far this fall, and
I think we're going to pack the place again. Whether
our student sections are really looking forward to seeing all
of them, and let's put on a good show with tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
You know what's exciting about this, John, I mean the
students each and every year the past five, six, seven
years have become more and more engaged. That's a tribute
to you all. And of course President Parton's getting him engaged.
And I love this because that was the longest time.
One of the hardest things about getting the students involved
one to go and participate in the games and the like.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
It has been in President Parsons and I and the
entire university, our services group that have really really worked
hard on engaging our students and and not only providing
a really fun atmosphere for him when they when they
show up, so that you know, that's that's been a
big part of it as well.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
I know Colorado States are starting a new QB sophomore
Jackson Bruso, to shake things up a little bit. That's
a little exciting as well.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
It is we're excited to see what Jackson's able to do.
Force He came in at you know, towards the end
of the game last weekend and took us on two
touchdown drives to finish the game, and I think we're
all excited to see what he's able to do.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
On Saturday, John, let's talk about that big announcement that's
coming up next year. Exciting news for the border war.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
It is exciting, you know, it's it's one of the
oldest rivalries west of the Mississippi and Wyoming's ad Tom
Burma and I have been resolute on making sure that
we can find ways to continue that that rivalry and
play each other as often as possibly can. And we
had to work at this one to move both of
our schedules around, but we're able to get that done
(02:06):
and we look forward to hosting Wyoming for our season
opener next fall.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I love that because, I mean, look, we're fortunate that
we have three rivals, and I love that we can
play one in the beginning the middle and ideally rivalry
weekend and it kind of works out this year playing
air Force that way. I know you try to effort
endeavor that, but I love this that we're opening the
season with Wyoming. That's a big deal game.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
It is a big deal game, and you know that's
that's something that each of the fan bases look forward
to each year, and it'll be a unique experience opening
the season against Wyoming because I couldn't even tell you
the last time that we played Wyoming in August or September.
But you know, that's that's just going to be a
really really great way to get things going next fall.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
And wrapping up with you, I know it's the funny
year of the Mountain West. What are your thoughts about
leaving the legacy of the Mountain West and moving on
with the new Creative PAC twelve for next year.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, you know what, very truthfully, we're focused on where
our feet are right now. Either are in the Mountain
West and we're proud members of that of that conference,
and we're going to do everything that we can across
each of our teams to you know, to to work
hard and you know, leave the Mountain West with as
many conference championships as we can this fall.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
D as you athletic director, it's John Weber. Appreciate your
time this morning.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Thank you.
