Speaker 1 (00:04):
Calling through the borough.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
It sounds.
Speaker 1 (00:08):
A back koa News Time A twenty. Gina Gondak, Brenda Stewart,
Chad Bauer here on Colorado's Morning News. The Broncos in
London for their Week six matchup, taking on the New
York Jets Sunday morning at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Good morning, Dave. Let's start off with asking about any
chance of a letdown after the Broncos obviously defeated the
champion Eagles pretty easily.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
Well, good morning, Yeah, I don't. I don't think that's
gonna play a part in that. I think that's something
that Sean has talked to the team a lot this
week over in London. And I also think what happened
last night with the Eagles going to the Giants and
being a seven and a half point favorite and getting
basically boat raced, I would think that that also would
(00:59):
serve as an example to the Broncos that in the NFL,
I mean, anything can happen, and you cannot even when
you're playing a team that's zero five, you can't take
anything for granted. So I would think the Broncos will
play well in London, and I think obviously judging from
what people over there have said. It's been a good
(01:19):
week of practice too, and.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Davie was announced this yesterday. I think Nick Benito AFC
Defensive Player of the Week. He's obviously been good in
the past, but he's really stepped it up this year,
leading the league in sacks. What has changed to allow
him to step it up to that even higher level.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Well, he's so, you know, Chatty's so, he's so good
off the edge most obviously, and he's had some help.
I think the Dinmer defense has put in these five games.
They've been able to put some pressure on quarterbacks because
they've been able to dictate sort of the terms of play.
When the Broncos can can force you into must pass situations,
(02:05):
you know they've got good enough personnel that they're going
to get home a lot. I also think Vance Joseph,
the defensive coordinator's done a nice job of sort of
mixing and matching rushing four rushing five. We've seen him
in games, at least in stretches of games where he's
really really aggressive and bringing more than the offense can block.
But Nick is a special young talent, just a tremendous athlete.
(02:29):
I've said he's got great bend off the edge, and
he's i mean, he's a nightmare to block for some
of these bigger offensive linemen.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Dave, Can location, time change the acclamation just overall travel
play a role in this game or do you think
they've had plenty of time to get well adjusted, have
those practices in London. And then on a personal standpoint,
how in the world are you going to be able
to adjust heading out to London on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Well, yeah, I wish I was twenty five. I think
i'd probably fare a little bit better. Your first part
of the question, Gina, Yes, I think it hand. You know,
coaches NFL coaches like to downplay where they're playing and
it's just another game and we just we've got our
schedule and they've they've done a really good job keeping
that crew on schedule over there. Right when they got
(03:14):
their Monday morning, they lifted, they worked out, they've had
full practices this week and so it'll feel the same.
But they're still I mean, there's still a big difference
playing in that big a different time zone for players.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Me.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
I'm going to catch up with them. I'm leaving around
dinner time tonight. Should get to London in the afternoon
on what day, that would be Saturday. Yeah, get a
little dinner, go to bed, get up Sunday, go to
the stadium, call the game, hopefully it's a good game,
and then I'll fly back with the team immediately after
(03:51):
the game, and we land in Denver I think at
midnight or thereabouts on Sunday night, which will be seven
am London time. So Sunday is going to be a long,
long day for sure, but looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
And you're going to join us right here at five
am Monday, right, Yeah, I'll let me.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
Think about that, Brenda, and I'll make sure I text you.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
And confirmed it sounds good. I have to ask. I'm
one of those people who roots for two teams, the
Broncos and anyone playing the Chiefs. The Chiefs have dominated
the AFC for nine seasons. Any chance this year that's
finally going to change?
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Oh yeah absolutely. I mean the Chiefs are a great team,
and I've said so many times that people listening to
KOA are tired, but I'm quite certain as long as
fifteen is playing for the Chiefs, they're going to be
a factor. That said, I believe this is the year
that the Broncos have an excellent chance to find a
(04:50):
way to win the West. Now it's easy for me
to sit here and say that because I don't have
to go out and play, but I really think that
they have that kind of ability. Still a couple of
games with the Chiefs. They go to Kansas City on Christmas,
which could be dicey weatherwise, and lots of things have
to happen. But I do think that this is the year,
(05:11):
and I said it before the season started, that the
Broncos would win the AFC West.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Wrapping up with you, Dave, Usually after a European game,
don't teams have a buye after that? Why did the
Broncos not have a buy do we know?
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Well, I think it would probably be ideal, but you know,
the schedule maker in the NFL had different ideas. I
thought either the players or the broadcasters, one of the
two should definitely get a buye. But it doesn't look
like the players are going to get one, and I
probably won't get one either.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Boys of the Broncos. It's Dave Loewi and Dave, thank
you so much for your time. As always, safe travels,
