Speaker 1 (00:07):
I forgot about this one, Shannon, were so amped up
to talk about a Broncos victory. I didn't even think
about our dead rockers that we need to talk about.
You got the censored version right. You're doing all right,
Ginaana Keena Dixon on Colorado's Morning News. We'll get to
that in a moment. But a thrilling come from beyond
victory for the Denver Broncos defeating the New York Giants
thirty three thirty two on power Field at Mile High yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
The Broncos scored all thirty three points in the fourth quarter,
stunning the Giants, and Will Lets's game winning thirty nine
yard field goal was the cherry on top as time expired.
Joining us now in the KOA Common Spirit Health Studio
is Broncos color analyst and hosts of The Rick Lewis
Show on one of three five the Fox.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
It's Rick Lewis. I MG, just no other room to play.
Come man, unbelievable. I hardly slept last night. Still have
adrenaline flowing through my body. My hands were shaken last night.
It was that exciting. I've never called the game like that.

(01:06):
I don't think I've ever seen a game like that.
Bronco's up twenty six to eight with six minutes to
go in the game. That's the most improbable come from
behind victory you will ever see in an NFL game.
And all you people that left early, yeah, right, you
missed it. Unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I loved all the people that were saying DT was
watching from heaven smiling because man, it was the Super Bowl.
Fifty teen was probably watching for a little bit with
one eye closes, being like, oh gosh, what it is. Please?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It was so ugly for a long time. And then
you know thirty three points in the fourth quarter, which
is a Broncos record, by the way, Yeah, unreal.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
And I mean you mentioned the twenty six to eight
with six minutes to go. We said at one thy
six hundred and two consecutive NFL games that a team
is led by eighteen or more with six minutes or
less and they won until yesterday. I mean, it's such
a Bronco thing to do this year, right, is goin
to turn it on late in the game.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
We saw that happen the week before in London against
the Jets, but not to the level of thirty three
freaking points in the fourth quarter that you only see
happen in a high school game. Yeah, it's just so improbable.
Nobody saw that coming. And you know what, it could
be a magical season. It really could. When you see

(02:24):
things like that happen and this team is now five
and two, this maybe could be a special year.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Well, it's funny that you said high school game, because
I think Bonick said it during the interview with Dave Logan.
He went, Dave, ask, when was the last time you've
seen this? I think he was like the junior year.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yeah, it was like something like that.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I was like, wow, all right, So it was just
mind blowing for everybody. Rick, what do you think was
maybe one of the key plays of the game that
maybe turned this around and said okay, wait, we're watching this.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
It was the interception Justin Strnad had that big pick
and he he thinked that he was gonna blitz and
Jackson Dart, the quarterback, thought he was gonna blitz, and
then Strenad backed off into coverage right in the middle
of the field. Dart didn't see him through the ball
right to him. That changed the entire game. When that happened.

(03:10):
I started thinking, man, we're gonna win this football game
and so and Strenad's played so well in his backup role.
He you know, with all the injuries this year. And
Drake green Law did play yesterday, by the way, just
the first half. But Strnad's been a really good football
player in Greenlaw's absence, and he made the play of

(03:31):
the game last night.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
We saw a much different thing kind of happened last year,
right where the Chiefs were the team that we're pulling
rabbits out of the hat every week, and now it
seems like another AFC West team is doing that this year.
You said it could be a special season. These are
always kind of the signs when you look back at
maybe a Super Bowl videotape, you know the old VHSS
that you used to get, and you would see those

(03:54):
early games and you're like, wow, they start to add up.
Here does it feel like that?

Speaker 3 (03:59):
You know, it's starting to feel like that, And go
back to the Super Bowl fifty year. That's what they
did that They weren't dominating people the year they won
the Super Bowl. They were finding ways to win, and
this team started the season finding ways to lose. Those
first two losses. They really should have won both of them.
Now they're finding ways to win, which is a big,

(04:21):
big step for this football team.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Coach Payton said a week following is a challenge when
you steal a win because then every game, every team
is more hungry to be Like, now, we got to
beat the Broncos. So going into next weekend the Cowboys,
what can we expect, Well.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
The Cowboys have the number one offense in the league.
Broncos have the number one defense in the league. So
I think it's a good matchup for the Denver Broncos
and eventually this offense is going to get off to
a good start and score points early. I feel like
offensively there's still a work in progress, but they have
all the pieces they need to be successful on the

(04:57):
offensive side.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Of the ball.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Week to start that way against the Dallas Cowboys because
I don't like them being in a shootout game, but
I think our defense will be able to slow that
Cowboys offense down.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
It seems almost improbable, but you look at the Broncos
going to Philly beating the reigning Super Bowl champions. Now
you get a chance to you just knock off another
NFC East team that's a difficult division. Now you get
a chance to play the Cowboys. We know the Commanders
are down the line. It's a good sign. But how
good is this? You know when it comes time to
start playing the Chiefs and getting down to some of

(05:32):
those November December games against the Chargers and some of
these AFC West teams.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Well, the Chiefs, by the way, have put it together.
They're looking like the Chiefs again. But the Broncos are
in the driver's seed right now. A three out of
the next four games are at home. Broncos have won
eight in a row at home. Bone Dix has been
a really good at home as well in his very
short football career. I think this is setting up pretty

(05:58):
nicely for this football team.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Host of the Rick Lewis Show on one of three five,
the Fox and Broncos color analyst is Rick Lewis Rick
Before We Let You Go, Channon was playing it there
at Limp Biscuit. I completely forgot because I was so
excited to talk about the Broncos bass player Sam Rivers
passing away on Saturday at the age of forty eight a.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
News I was looking at you like, did Biscuit so
who died? Ind in Limp Biscuits so the bass player.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Bass player Sam Rivers, he was only forty eight. I'll
be honest, I don't know much else about him except
that they were just here with Metallica at Empower Fields
a couple months ago.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
Most people couldn't name the bass player in any band, don't.
I don't care. I mean, this is how it is
with bass players and drummers. Nobody knows their name. But no,
when I heard the limp biscuit, I'm thinking, what did
I miss it?

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah? Sorry, what's going on? Man? So?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, you know, it's a rough life being a touring musician.
A lot of these guys die young. Unfortunately, it's not
a healthy life, not a healthy lifestyle.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Missed ace with you as well as.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Freely now that one we did talk about last week,
And yeah, he's a legend. The spaceman from Kiss and
once again too young. I think he was seventy three.
He was in poor health for quite a long time.
And Kiss, you know, they basically Gene Simmons. It's the
one who said, hey, man, we're not gonna We're gonna

(07:20):
use a different guitar player now, you know, And they
basically kicked him out of the band. But he was
there from the beginning. He was there for the first
ten or eleven years when they became such a massive
rock band. So our thoughts go out to Ash Freeley's family.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Rick Lewis, appreciate your time as always on this victory Monday.
It's nice to have you back in the studio too.
I know London kind of you know

Speaker 3 (07:40):
It's true and everything London thrown me off still to
I'm still waking up at two o'clock in the morning,
so yeah, thanks ver, good, good to be here.
