Speaker 2 (00:00):
Looking at the weather.
Speaker 1 (00:01):
Speaking of the weather, when we look at what it
would be like, obviously a bye week for the Broncos
today of this weekend, but if we did have the
weather going on for this weekend, it would be a
chili chili game, a snowy one, possibly a rainy one
for sure, because right now what we're seeing is the
possibility of some rain moving into our area later this afternoon.
(00:23):
That would be the biggest factor because it's been so
dry and so unseasonably warm for the past couple of days,
the past couple of weeks really, and I know that
our ski areas are really suffering trying to get some
actual snow, not the man made snow that they continue
to see all the time. Joining us now on the
Kwa Common Spirit Health Hotline is Fox thirty one meteorologist
(00:45):
Kylie Burst.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Kylie, appreciate your time as always.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Okay, so finally we're seeing some change in our forecast,
which is much needed after a very very dry, warm
couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Can we even say months at this point?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I mean, yeah, it's been a dry a few months,
but we've gone twenty three days without any sort of
moisture whatsoever. I was looking back on those, you know,
going back to October, which was already not a very
wet month in general, and we haven't had snow in
over two hundred and sixteen days. So finally some rain
is on the way. We're gonna see that snow moving
in from the south. So it's the warmer cord system
when we're talking about the chance for rain versus snow,
(01:22):
and the closer we get to it, the warmer it's looking.
I think most of the action arrives for the Metro
area after the sun goes down. There's a chance we
could get a couple of brief showers right around three
four o'clock. Most of it will be later on tonight
overnight into tomorrow morning. My only place is in the
Metro that I could possibly see some snow, and again
it's looking warmer is down over the Divide and on
the west side, where those elevations are a little bit higher.
(01:44):
We're talking over sixty five hundred feet maybe seven thousand, and.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
When you talk about snow over the divide, is that
just going to be like just some flakes?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Would anything really stick if we saw anything.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
You know, I mean, we're right on the edge of
that temperature line where yeah, if it drops three more
to they could pick up a slushy inch or two.
I just think that it's going to be so warm
leading into it, and then it's going to be right
on the edge. So I think our best bet is
that if we get some snow, it's going to kind
of melt on contact. So I'm not fully ruling it out.
I'm just saying it's not the likely scenario.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Kiley. Where's the system coming from and where it's coming from.
Is it a rain maker or snowmaker anywhere else?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, it's been really impactful in Phoenix and we so
we've seen it in Arizona in New Mexico. And that's
part of why we're talking about rain and not snow.
Despite the fact that we're what three weeks into November
at this point, and we are way way behind when
it comes to that first snowfall, so there's a much
warmer system. Usually once we're getting into this time of year,
we're talking about systems that are dropping in from like
the Pacific Northwest or to our north, and that would
(02:41):
be a much colder cord system versus this one that's
bringing that wamp. So it's mostly rain.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
I know the ski resorts are really trying to do
anything they can to get more and more runs open,
making their own snow mainly. But are they going to
see a lot of snowmaking events natural snow?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
I should say in the coming days, you.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Know what, Over the next week, things are looking much
more unsettled, which is good news for our ski resorts.
I'll be completely honest with you, Me and are other
meteor eldis. We were sitting down this morning, every single
other run is saying, this day gets rained. Now this day,
this day gets some snow. So it's definitely right. Now.
There's a big question mark at dependpoint whether the team's
going to be watching it because there are some rain
and snow chances next week. Great news for our ski
(03:18):
resorts could potentially be bad news when it comes to
holiday travel. So we are going to be watching that
and hopefully the models get it together by next week.
Because my goodness, I mean that is so unusual.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
It literally took me until now for when you said
that for me to go, oh, my goodness, yeah, Thanksgiving
next week, we should probably focus on holiday travel and
everything that could be impacting that as well. Fox thirty
one meteorologist Kylie Burst. Kylie appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Thank you
