Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards five six six nine zeros are
Kwa common Spirit health text line. We'll get back into
the Nuggets and their big win last night over the Clippers,
going up now three two on the series. But there
were some tough news and you heard it there a
moment ago with Kathy Walker in the newsroom. Jeff Spurbeck,
longtime friend and business partner, former agent of John Elway,
(00:20):
passed away today. John Elway just issued a statement through
nine News. I'm absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing
of my close friend, business partner, and agent, Jeff Spurbeck.
There are no words to truly express the profound sadness
I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has
meant so much to me and my heart and deepest
sympathies go out to Jeff's wife, Corey, his children, Carly,
Sam and Jackson, and everyone who knew and loved him.
(00:43):
Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship
and love he brought into my life and the lives
of so many others.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
So very sad.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
We talked about this a couple of days ago because we
heard about the accident and then today he officially passed away.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah, just credibly sad. I mean it's there's there's no
other other way to put it. And you just hope
that that his family, as as John's statement read, do
you hope they can find strength and comfort? Uh in
(01:19):
just an unbelievably difficult time.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
I think that's perfectly said. Did you did you know j.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
I had met him? Okay, yeah, I had met him,
but I mean he'd been gosh, he you know, without
getting too much in detail, he'd been a big part
I think of John's life for a long long time. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
I mean again, you talk about that relationship, we can
talk about business partner, agents, flung, his longtime friends. They
were they were golfing, of course, as people don't know,
he fell out of the carts and I guess he
was writing the passenger side. That that's like the only
details I have is he was writing the passenger side.
He fell out of the cart and he hit his
head on I'm assuming the golf cart the path.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah, I don't, I don't know, but really tragic.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Really tragic.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Anyways, Again, those were John always comments and certainly sending
out condolences to his family. Five six six nine zero
is our Kawe comments Bury Health text line. We did
get a lot of reaction in the last hour to
our conversation about the Nuggets as well as Bill Belichick
and should Or Sanders.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
If you ever miss any parts of the show, check
it out on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
On the Nuggets for a second here, So you're pretty
optimistic about tomorrow night?
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Are you optimistic?
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Because you think the Nuggets showed something last night that
can be recreated, as in, they figured out some things
about this matchup specifically or about themselves specifically. They're gonna
be able to ride this wave into that game tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah, I'm optimistic. I like what I've seen the last
couple of games with respect in the Nuggets actually challenging
the Clippers in a much more physical way on defense,
so that that gives me as much optimism as as
(03:11):
anything else I think they have. They have made it.
I think Brown can make it difficult at times. On
the Beard. I think Age physically matches up as well
as anybody in the league on Kuhi, and the Clippers
(03:33):
cannot win unless both those guys are, you know, going
to be really really involved. I mean last night, the
Beard just had one of those games, whether you credit
the Nuggets defense or just ten and off game. But
the Clippers, you know, the Clippers had trouble. But I
but I also think this. I think that last night
(03:56):
was Now I don't I don't know that we're going
to see Jamal go for forty three tomorrow night. But
how he got his forty three was as impressive as
the number to me. He was aggressive. There were times,
as we said earlier in the show, when they would
swing the ball. Jamal's really never been a catch and
shoot guy. He's a guy that creates off the dribble
(04:17):
and if he gets a look off a high screen roll,
he'll take it. If you force him to back it out,
then he tries to, you know, beat you either to
the basket or with a step back three. But he's
not been really a catch and shoot guy. He was
a catch and shoot guy several times, handful of times
last night, and I think that is such a big,
(04:39):
big thing for him in his arsenal. So yeah, I
think and they've had basically, they've had twenty point leads
in each of the last two games over a team
that was favored over them in the playoffs, so I
like their chances.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Moments ago, the most improved Player was announced. It was
not You've Zubots. Who I thought was going to be
a runaway win is Dyson Daniels at Atlanta. He ended
up getting forty four first place votes three hundred and
thirty two. I bring this up because Christian Brown actually
showed up here in fourth place in the voting. So
was Daniels out of Atlanta, Zubots out of the of LA,
(05:17):
Kate Cunningham, who's tremendous out of Detroit, and Christian Brown.
He ended up beating nine first place votes for most
PREMI player.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
He really has improved his game. Oh yes, right now,
I think. I mean he's he's an excellent defender, He's
got very good athletic ability. He's fearless, he'll take the
battle of the basket. He'll throw it down on top
of your head too if he gets a chance. And
I think he's an improved perimeter player. Now. I think
that's the one area of his game that still can
(05:48):
go to another level or two where he becomes a
more consistent perimeter player. But he is so improved in
that area. So good on Christian for getting to a
few of those votes.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Yeah, you went from averaging a more minutes he's a starter.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Now it's a big deal.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
But he averaged seven point three points per game last year,
one point six assists, three point seven rebounds, and now
he's averaging double that, fifteen point four points per game.
He almost doubled his assists, and he almost I went
from three point seven to five point two rebounds. But again,
what a jump, and well how significant that is? Because
(06:25):
you and I talked about it before the season, we
were like, I don't know, maybe he makes sense as
a starter, really like his energy coming off the bench.
Really don't want to mess with that too much because
he won a championship doing that very thing.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
But I think he's been phenomenal as a starter for
the Nuggets.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
No, I do too, you know you can. I mean,
very few teams are going to have There are a couple.
I mean Oak City plays really good defense. I think
the Clippers are one of the better defensive teams too.
The Nuggets. That has always been sort of the question
about them. Hey, they when when you get to the
playoffs and teams are more likely to play in a
(07:01):
half court offense, are they gonna as we say, hunker
down and play some defense, try to stay in front
of the ball or not. Christian Brown's been a guy
that has always had that mindset. When you have when
you have him and Aaron Gordon, you have two I
think elite on the ball defenders. I think Jokic is
(07:22):
an underrated defensive player, very smart, plays passing lanes, has
great anticipation, which kind of goes with his basketball IQ.
And then you have Michael Porter Junior and Jamal. Now
Michael Porter Junior is playing with one arm, so I
give him a lot of credit for exhibiting the kind
of toughness that he has shown. And I thought Jamal
(07:43):
the last two games, see, that's that's to me when
I look at that and try to be honest about it,
I'm happy to see it. But I would say to him, bro,
I know that's in there. Now. See you have proven
that that's in there when you want to move your
feet and accept a challenge. Is he a great defensive player, No,
(08:04):
but he's more than adequate when he wants to play.
In the last two games, I thought Jamal gave really
good effort on the defensive end too well.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
And that's that's something as an effort thing. Right, We've
talked about that multiple times. And it's not to say
that there are reasons why maybe some nights we need
you to be more prolific on the offensive side, because
you said it. Two games ago, at least scored thirteen points.
He was five of seventeen, thirty percent from the field.
It's a bad name, but you know what he showed
(08:33):
up defensively. He did, He absolutely did. They don't win
that game in LA without his defensive efforts. So it's
one of those like, hey, if it's not working, And
this is what we gave credit to Michael Porter Junr
a couple of years ago. I remember he was on
that slide where he was. He couldn't hit anything from
beyond the arc. He couldn't hit any shot, but he
showed up in rebounds and he showed up at least
his defensive try toughness.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
The last couple of games, yes, with the shoulder injury.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
But the last night, of course, yeah, forty three points
and you said it's in there, but you see.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
He shot the ball. That's why he can't use the
excuse anymore like I'm saving myself for the offensive end. No,
you had forty three points last night, and if you
go look at his defensive effort, it was pretty damn good.
It was pretty good good. He's out contesting twenty feet
from the basket, bodying up Kawie at times, the beard
(09:24):
at times. I mean, so that's the kind of mentality.
And I'll tell you this, I'm going to give some
of the credit to David Adelman. Yeah, I mean, I
just think, you know, we hire and fire coaches, we
run them out all the time. But you know, this
team has they've played, i mean, for the most part,
(09:45):
in a very small percentage of games, right, small sample size,
they've played better defense, They've played harder on defense.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
They have you know what's the most impressive thing about
Jamal's performance last night?
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Jumie times he would to the charity stripe.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
I don't off the top of my head, but not
probably not not many.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
One time, really one free throw and I was on
a tech like he just shot a tech a tech
free throw because it was a I think it was
a clear path whatever. But but the point of is
it one free throw attempt and that's sort of compared
to in.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
It started to interrupt you. But I just remember one
play and he hit the three pointer from the top
of the key. He the defender ran through his body
and there's no call, no call. He gets up like
and I'm at home thinking, what what are we not
seeing here? Yes? Right? So he was so good and
(10:41):
had the jumper work in last night. He did take
it to the rim a couple of times, finished uh
one or two with the left hand. But Jamal is
he's not his game really is not drawing a lot
of fouls. He'll occasionally when he gets going, he'll pump
(11:01):
fake you and get you in the air and be
able to lean into you. But he's not a guy.
I mean, you're not gonna see Jamal uh in the blocks. Yeah,
well hard hardens, crafty and tricky, but you know, like
guys that post in the blocks and then will isolate you,
you're gonna faul him sometimes because you're real close to
the basket. Jamal's game, more times than not, is a
(11:24):
perimeter based game, percent with you one free.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Throwing to run free throw for the entirety of the game.
And maybe there's something to learn there for him. Because
I was gonna reference Shay Gilders Alexander who took thirteen
free throws to get to thirty eight points the other
night against Memphis, and again that's part of his game.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
His game is too, He's pretty it's pretty crafty to.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Create that contact and get to the free throw line.
I know people tend to hate what James Harden does
and what he's done to the NBA because of how
you say crafty.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
A lot of people will say.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Not dirty, but just SGA it was crafty, yes.
Speaker 1 (11:58):
But James Harden, like with the flopping and and the
constant like drawing contact to draw contact. But he does
that in a way because he can a sort of
control the clock in the pace of the game. He
gets to control that and b if for some reason
his shots aren't falling, he's going to get to the
free throw line fifteen times a game if he wants to.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
I mean, he took the ball up to the court
one time and Christian Brown just cut in front of
him took the ball away. Now, when I first saw it,
I'm like, oh wow, I can't believe they didn't call
a foul in that. Then I went back and looked
at the replay and actually Christian Brown reached in with
his right hand and went across the body of James
(12:39):
Harden and deflected the ball before there was any contact.
So you know what I think it was. I think
it was the right call to have a no call.
But I think the athletic ability and length of Christian
Brown has bothered James Harden more than I thought it could.
And I don't want to jinx and all of a
sudden Harden goes for forty seven Tom. But I'm just
(13:00):
saying I think I think Christian Brown has played really
well in the series. And when you look at Kawhi,
he had the thirty nine spot in Game two against
the Nuggets here in Denver. Of course, other than that,
before last night, I don't think he'd scored over twenty
(13:21):
three or twenty four points, which is still you know,
it's a good number, but it's but you sometimes you
expect Kawhi to go for forty. Yeah, he can get
into super Bowl. Last night twenty okay, so it's pretty good.
So they played five games and I don't have this
in front of me. He had thirty nine in Game two.
Every other game he's been between twenty and like twenty four.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I think that's correct.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
So twenty two in Game one thirty nine, twenty one,
twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
So I hate said, that's pretty good work. I think
by ag largely in dealing with a guy that when
he gets a going, he's so unbelievably strong and a
good athlete. He's a little bigger than you think he is.
He's got a great mid range game in draw foul.
(14:11):
So to keep that guy in five games, four times
between twenty and twenty four, that's that's winning basketball.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
What is rough night for James Harden? I mean, were
talking about him a second ago. He had eleven points.
The game before where they lost, he had fifteen Christian Brown.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Once again, I.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
Think it's undervalued what Christian Brown has been able to
do in this series.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
He basically, I mean, he made him disappear. He's three
for nine, like he only took nine shots, and he
still gets to the free throw line for eight attempts.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
He will come out eleven points. As from guessing tomorrow night,
Oh yeah, game starts whatever, eleven thirty PM. I think
because of TV, you're right, you know, no, he'll come
out tomorrow night, and my guess is James Harden will
be unbelievably aggressive in the first quarter of that game
at Stape Center.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, no, he has. It's one of those deals.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
It's like you you bet on certain things, certain traits,
and you're gonna have to just sustain whatever the Clipper's
gonna throwout you. But I would say, if I'm not
a betting person, I would say, James Harden and Kawhi
Leonard are going to set a tone, like almost immediately
in that game, They're going to set a tone. And
Zoobox has been great all the way through, by the way,
which is we thought, Yeah, he's been very good.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
He's been as consistent.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
I wondered if you ever got into foul trouble what
that would mean for them, But he really hasn't had
too much of an issue there. But more than anything,
if Kawhi and James Harden come out on fire, that's
going to be sort of fascinating to see if the
Nuggets can sort of sustain that.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Understand this is just part of the deal.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
There are lives, they're basketball lives in this series and
the season are online.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
You know what I said, I really believe this. That
little devil sits on every competitor's shoulder when you have
a three to two lead, and a best of seven,
and you're going on the road and you know there's
game seven at your place in your hip pocket, and
your coach has told you all the right things. Hey,
we're trying to close this out now. Don't let these
guys have any life. We got to come out and
(16:04):
play with desperation, play like this is game seven, all
those things, and that's fine. And then two or three,
three or four times in that game, the Clippers, you
have a stretch where they you know, they have a
thirteen to three run and now they're up seven, you know,
to start and fourth the Nuggets have to fight through
(16:28):
human nature at that time, saying all right, man, we
maybe it's not our night. Maybe they go down twelve.
Can they battle back and not think about, well, we
still have game seven, and if they do, I think
the Nuggets can find a way to win that game
tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
You got to keep it within I don't know, maybe
maybe ten fifteen into the fourth even last night, by
the way, and the Nuggets were in control basically the
whole way through, but there was a moment in the
fourth quarter got down to eight and there was just
like this, oh boy, don't don't lose focus now Jamal.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Jamal hit a three pointer. That's why. I mean, obviously
he's so key, but there was no hesitation in him
last night. And even even when he's had it going
at times, you know, I've seen him look for almost
the perfect shot yo yo, back and forth, a high
screen roll. You come off one side, they hedge or
(17:23):
maybe they try to trap you. Then you back out
and go to the other side. You know, at times
I like him off the ball, spot it up and
then let the defense rotate. If you swing the ball,
you're gonna get Jamal, who's your best perimeter shooter with
wide open looks. And that probably happened three, four, five
times last night.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Is this Will Ferrell?
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Will Ferrell, And I like Will Ferrell, but he's the
same in every movie.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Right, Yeah, I's versions of so like even Anchorman is
like the Ron Bergendi Will f It's like a Will Ferrell,
you know, sort of spin off. It's like was it Yeah,
I'm trying to think of another act.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Miami, Yeah, semi pro when he was on a pro
team in Miami, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, or as in Detroit, Detroit, Yeah, Miami, Flint, Michigan, Tropics, tropics,
way to go Yeah, the Flint trop.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Get the Tropics and thought it was Miami.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Anyways, Will Ferrell's great classic, but that one right there,
Frank the Tank so so good. Hey, how are we
feeling about the Broncos after the draft? It's been interesting
watching some of the reaction on social media. Otherwise this
feeling of I keep seeing I'm underwhelmed. I was underwhelmed
by the Broncos draft. That word keeps getting used, and
(18:45):
I think a lot of it stems from lack of
name recognition for some of these players, especially in today
two and day three. Is that like, I think that's
a little bit of a reach. But I also again
not to tell fans how to feel. I've come away
pretty excited about what they were able to accomplish.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
What about you? Yeah, I think and we talked about this.
Was it yesterday or the day? I can't remember better.
I think at times things like this are just going
to happen fans, no matter fans of the Broncos are
fans of any of the other thirty one professional teams
(19:25):
NFL teams. They see names and they become familiar with
names in college and then and I'm talking specifically about
the running back situation right, and everybody knew about Ashton Genty,
and I think Ashton Genty, and I think we said
it before the draft. I mean, he was sort of
on the level of his own with respect to the
(19:47):
running back the available running backs in the draft, it
was Ashton Genty and then it was a bunch of guys,
not that they can't be really good players, but Ashton
Genty was just a better prospect I think in most
NFL teams, if not all of them, would agree with that.
And then when you get to running back two, three, four, five,
and six, I think it depends that it would depend
(20:09):
on who which team you talk to. But there were
there were teams that had two three, four, two three, four,
five and six all kind of lumped in and maybe
they lean towards liking one guy a little bit more,
but they they all were kind of lumped in really
(20:31):
deep running back draft class this year. And so I
I didn't think, and I said it before the draft,
I didn't. I didn't get the feeling that Omarian Hampton
was going to be a guy that the Broncos would
use the twentieth pick in the draft on because I
think the Broncos felt like, you know what, we like him.
(20:54):
If we draft him, then what we say is we're
done with the experiment with Audric Estimay. And I don't
think the Broncos are completely downe there now. Maybe O'marion
Hampton is a better player than estimate. I you know,
maybe probably could be. I don't know, but I think
they felt like we can get one of those five
(21:14):
that are sort of lumped together in the second round.
So therefore we're going to take the best player on
the board in the first round, and that was.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Barren, which was again a great player.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Like I mean again, I think he's going to be
a special player for the Broncos. But you think back
to the draft we did where PS two was picked
with the ninth overall selection. There were plenty of fans
we fielded. Maybe it didn't take calls, but the text line,
you know, why would you you need a quarterback? Why
would you not take justin Field?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
That's similar here you need a running back? Why would
you not take Omaron Hampton?
Speaker 3 (21:50):
And my answer was what happens if they really liked
justin Fields? But the people making the decision, they get
aid a lot of money to do, so maybe didn't like,
didn't love Justin Fields, So why would why would you
advocate if they like Justin Fields taking him at nine
(22:11):
as opposed to getting a corner that they believe would
be a generational talent. And I think that belief has
been proven easily, right, So I think same thing applies
with the running back things. So I get it from
the fans perspective. They know about genty. You know, everybody's
talking about a Marion Hampton.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
And even Trayvon Henderson.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Traveon Henderson of Ohause Day, who I think is a
really good back. But I listen, I'm not so sure
that they didn't get a really good player. You Now,
that sounds kind of like a backhanded compliment. I'm just
saying I think R. J. Harvey is going to be
a guy I think can turn into somebody the Bronco
fans are really going to like.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I completely agree.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
And I think that for Broncos fans, again, not to
tell you how to feel, because you're going to do
whatever you want, but it's just a let's see the
planned playouts a little bit, right. I mean that the
design for these players in year one, two, three beyond.
I always like what Sean and George both say, is like,
when we have a guy on our board, we have
a plan, We have an outlook of what they're supposed
to be, not only in your one but beyond. We
(23:13):
think about them in your one, Okay, what's the plan
for them there? What's the planning your two? So on
and so forth. And that's where I think you have
to sort of suspend a little bit of that.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
I hesitate to say.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Overreaction, but that's the only way I can look at
it is the overreaction of I'm underwhelmed the Broncos missed
an opportunity. There's just things that are some of the
fans out there are saying about the draft. I don't
agree with it. And it's not just because we do
this show and we're on here and we talk about
the Broncos all the time. I actually really genuinely like
a lot of these players. I say, the one that
surprised me the most was probably Pat Bryant. I'll say,
(23:47):
of all the picks that they got, but I've really
liked what I've seen after the fact, right, I mean,
I knew of him. But Illinois offense has not been
particularly great. Their quarterback is not very good at all.
They had some struggles, but he was the best player
on that offense. Like he was the best of that offense.
It's just to say there were other wide receivers in
(24:07):
that range, and I think that that's where people sort
of get stuck on him. Maybe it's just a conversation
about where we're at with how people absorb draft content.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
Right mock draft machines.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
You have everybody out there telling you exactly who's going
to go and where they're going to go, and who
is the best names and who are the best players,
and then the Broncos don't come away with any of
those guys.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Then yeah, maybe that's the natural result of it.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
I think that with respect to Pat Bryant, he played
at a school that wasn't on national TV much, and
so I think people, again, they become familiar with, especially
in skilled position players, which Bryant is, they become familiar
with three four five names, whether as you said, they
(24:53):
listen to their favorite draft prognosticator where they watch college football,
or they see on ESPN highlights, W guy makes a catch.
I remember that guy, And I think Pat Bryant was
was maybe also a pick that I think you'll help
immediately on special teams, and I think he may very
well be a pick that was might have been for
(25:19):
after Courtland Sutton. I don't know what they're gonna do
with court you know, are they gonna are they gonna
bump his contract up? Are they gonna extend him? Is
he gonna be here for more than one year? I
think I think they'll bump him up some. I don't
know that they'll extend him, and I don't have an
answer as to whether he'll be here for more than
one year. I'm getting the feeling now and I wasn't
(25:41):
even sure about this maybe a month ago, that he's
gonna be here this year. But the Pat Bryant move,
I think was as much about you don't draft a
guy in the third round strictly for culture. So I
think you'll be a big contributor and special team. I
do think he'll bring a toughness to the room, and
(26:03):
I also think it's an insurance policy after this year
that you got a good player who's going to be
going into a second year that has learned your system.
And the thing I like most about him is he
is a really gifted ball catcher. He will make tough catches,
(26:23):
which I think in the league now, and I've said
this as a former wide receiver, is an underappreciated art
because the balls in the air so much that, ah,
if you drop one, you know what, I'll catch the
next one me. You drop one, That's how you kill
a break, you kill a drive. Yes, if you don't
catch a third down in ten that was on the money,
(26:46):
your punt team comes on. It literally can change the
outcome of a game. So I want guys on my
team that are about it, that understand like, hey, when
the ball you've already when the balls in the I
think it's my ball ninety ten. Those guys and I,
you know, I just have an appreciation for him. But
(27:08):
those guys you can win.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
With Broncos Country tonight. Come up at the top of
the hour. Benjamin all Bright, Nick Feryson, Hi, Ben, how's
it going.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
It's good. Good job today with your reporting.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
The report out there that the Broncos were going to
sign Shidor Sanders as a college free agent if he
got all the way.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Through the draft. That was not true. Hey, that was there.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
There was a good five minute moment on Twitter earlier
today where a mutual.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Friend of ours.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Yeah, there's a good guy, good day. Yeah, but he
also hates the Broncos and Sean.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
It's such tough thing, right because you don't want to
you want to frame it that way because he may
genuinely believe the thing he's reporting, but at the same
time it's pretty far fetched, especially because you and I
appreciate what you do. You went to not only the Broncos,
but you also you went multi sourcing with all of it.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:09):
Well, when you're when you're going fishing, it helps to
have multiple lines in the water, right, So I went
to uh, I went to Shoot Doors Camp to get
a statement, and I went to the Broncos and get
both of them got back to me.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
So, like, when you actually go fishing, you you have
more than one rod.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
I mean if you're fishing to eat, yeah, you know,
if you're fishing just to fish and relax, I know,
you just rotten reel.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
But if you're fishing, if you're fishing for food, yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
You have warm more of a liner in water.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Okay, sounds like some Arkansas kind of thing.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Well, I mean that's if you're not using your hand
to get out and doing some noodling.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Get out there and fish.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
You ever doodled?
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Really? Yeah, we're pretty any good out it's catfish now, I'm.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Really not out there doing a professional catfish noodler.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
So it's called midling. I know it's I know it's
called that.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
I do know that.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
I grew up in you know whatever, Mexico. Yeah, they
got a lot of fishing out there. We did some
fishing out there. They got a different kind of catfish
in New Mexico. Yeah, I see where you're going with that,
But I'm not gonna take the bait. All right, I
see what you did there. What do you guys have
coming up on the show tonight?
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Ry Michael's gonna join us, so we'll get a chance
to uh deep dive into some of the data on
this draft class and take a look at that.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
What is we're just talking about a moment ago? What
is some of the reaction you're hearing on this draft class?
Because it I keep seeing words like underwhelmed, And.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
That's what happens when people get caught up in their
own narratives.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
They get caught up and I want this player, and
they become emotionally attached to the idea of getting that player,
and then when that doesn't happen, then they I'm underwhelmed
by all I didn't, you know, and especially if it's
guys that they didn't, you know, maybe watch a lot
of tape on or whatever.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
It's funny.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
We got a guy going off and I think both
of our mentions talking about watching the tape, and I'm like, Buddy,
almost one game worth a pat Riot the tape, like,
oh thatsa was the broadcast? You know, it was mostly
a broadcast. I don't know what you're talking about. And
then there's of course, you know, the people are trying
to say that r. J.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Harvey is small.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
R J.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Harvey's not small. He's short, he's five eight, but he's
not small. I mean he's two hundred five pounds. He's
the same size Aaron Jones. Do you think the running
back room needs more?
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Dave?
Speaker 2 (30:03):
I'd like to have a veteran in there, wouldn't, wouldn't you?
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Well, Dave? Other day I was trying to be the
devil on dave shoulder there. Oh I had listen. I
had a little devil before I even met you. You
believe I've had that little devil my entire career. So yes,
I think they will add I think they will add
to the running back room. Yes, okay, I think it'll
(30:28):
be a veteran guy.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
A veteran now and again I'm not asking you to
specifically spell it out, but a veteran that has started before,
or like a Chris Evans type, the one they've invited
in for the rookie mini camp coming up.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Yep, that's right, Okay, one of those no, I think, yes,
I was talking about in addition to Okay, Chris Evans.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
Yeah, I wouldn't be I'll say a name. I wouldn't surprised,
seef Ni Chubb get signed here, I wouldn't be surprised.
So it seems like a lot of interest on the
Bears on Nick Chubb. It's a lot of interest around,
interest going around. Some pretty good videos out there of
him doing some workouts.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
There are he's back squatting, I mean good.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
After that injury.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
That dude's doing more than I could ever dream of doing.
Oh man, I think look at these workouts.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
I'm like, oh my god, I mean you are my
best day in my prime. I couldn't do twenty percent
of that.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
I mean, people are rolling through and saying, well, he's
clearly fallen off after last year he played in eight games.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
I felt like.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Some of what we saw was not only coming back
off the injury, but also.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Just the fucking round sunk and they hit a quarterback.
Everybody was packing the box.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
So I'm listen. I'm intrigued by Nick Chubb, JK. Dobbins,
a couple of guys that are out there. We'll see
if they end up doing that.
