Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards, Orlando Franklin and shooting.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
What's up O. I'm good man.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
I was a bit under the weather for the last
couple of days, but starting to finally feel back good
like myself. Unfortunately, I'm in that age group with my kids.
I got a seven year old and a four and
a half year old, so they get sick.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Oh, her entire household gets sick.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
And I feel like.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
It's every other day somebody brings something home from school.
So it really sucks. But it is what it is.
And there's only what a week and a half left
of school to go, so hopefully we could get through
it with's nothing new. Hopefully this is like the last
like sickness in the household of.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
The year, Let's hope.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
So yeah, we were talking about a little before the
break and or before coming into the show, and my
kids have been telling me every single day all this
kid is sick and this kid is sick.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
I'm like, I just just you.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Know the names, stay away, get away from them.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
You're almost out shirt, We're almost out of the woods here.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Let's just get get through this thing. So I'm not
saying like, go out of your way, but go out
of your back.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
In the day, they used to put it like the
two fingers signed. This person asked cooties. That person's say
they have cooty stay.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Aways to stay.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
I'm glad to hear you're on the men's and certainly
glad you're here with us for the next three hours
five six, six, nine zeros our Kawae comment Spirit Health
text line. If you want to interact with our show,
we got all sorts of fun stuff to get to.
Of course, we have game six tonight. The Nuggets are
taking on the Thunder. They are trailing three to two
in that series. We'll talk a little bit about what
we learned over the course of the first five games,
what we expect for tonight's game.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
We do have some news on Jamal Murray. Got to
get to here in a moment.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
The Broncos schedule is out, so we'll you know, we
reacted to it last night. If you missed any of
that with Dave Logan, myself as well as Benjamin Albright.
Speaker 4 (01:46):
That's already on our podcast page.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
You can listen to our visceral Immediate reaction last night
at six o'clock. But we'll spend some time sort of
discussing the ebbs and flows and maybe some other thoughts.
We have a little less than twenty four hours removed
from that, so we'll get to into that.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Kit Williams.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Holy cat, This Caleb Williams story, it's really blowing up everything.
We'll get into a little bit of Caleb Williams more
or less admitting that he and his dad had no
intention of him being drafted by the Chicago Bears. They
admitting that today, and they were planning a coup. They
were planning on forcing their way out until they changed
their mind. So we'll get to all that coming up
here in just a little bit again. Five six six
(02:20):
nine zeros are kaway Common Spirit health text line. So
I think we sort to start with tonight's game. We're
gonna Bill Hanslick coming up here at three thirty. I'm
sure he'll have some thoughts, but I don't know. Man,
you're trailing three to two. The Negants haven't found themselves
in this situation very often, as it turns out, right
(02:40):
in the Jokic era, now they've been they were down
three to one. Of course in the Bubble twice.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
They came back.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
They were able to complete those games and win those series.
But here's a weird situation where they're down three to two,
and in many ways, I think both teams could make
the argument that this series should be over.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Right.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
So, Oklahoma City losing on a buzzer beater practically a
buzzer beater in Game one, they felt they were in
control of that game the whole way through, so they
probably make the argument that we had that game.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
It was a bit of a flukey game.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
They end up blowing out the Nuggets in Game two,
because that's the only real blowout of the entire series
is Game two. And then the other game that the
Nuggets won, they had to go to overtime and they
had to come back once again Aaron Gordon with a
huge clutch three to tie the game to send it
to overtime. So they thunder probably looking at this is
like this series should be over.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Meanwhile, I think the Nuggets are in the same boat.
I think the Nuggets.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Probably feel as though the last two games where they
had fourth quarter leads, they should have closed those things
out too.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
This is a very weird series.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Oh and so when we comes to Game six tonight
and we're finding out that Jamal Murray is questionable with nils.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
I really have no idea what to expect. The flu game,
MJ flu game, Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Let's go Murray, Let's go, I mean questionable with the illness.
The Backs again against the wall, Right, it's win or
go home tonight, Let's go. You know that you're this
basketball team is a better basketball team when you win
that lineup, and you just got to do whatever you
gotta do. It's not like football where you just take
the shot just to tourt all shot. Right, You're expected
(04:16):
to play football games if you're sick. They don't even sick.
Let's go, what do you need IV before the game?
Let's get out there. So for me, I think Jamal
Murray he understands what's at stake, but also this whole
entire season and how it's went right. Your head coach
gets fired, your GM gets fired. These are guys that
(04:37):
were part of this organization. Watched you grow, watched you develop.
One of my favorite quotes of Jamal Murray that I
will ever that I will take to the grave with
me Ryan is what he says to Mike Malone, like, Hey,
we're not kids anymore. You could have talked to us
like grown ups. And that was a couple of years ago,
and then they ended up winning finals because of it
later on during the season. So I you don't see
(05:00):
him not finding a way to go, and I don't.
And I think when guys are in positions like that
and you know that your team really needs you, it's
not like you're the sixth guy off the bench short
or you're the fifth guy. You are very much. It's
a one to two punch. It's always been a one
to two punch. That's why the Nuggets have been having
(05:22):
so much success. That's why it turned into a destination place.
That's why people said, Hey, I want to go play
with NICOLEA.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Jokics. I know everybody always talks about the.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Joker, but Jamal Murray is very much a part of
that package as well, because Nicola Jokic. I don't believe
Nikola Jokic could do what he does if he doesn't
have a guy like Jamal Murray that is willing to
sit back there, doesn't want any of the credit. I'll
sit back here. It's your basketball team. They'll just call
me the blue Arrow whenever I hit a three. So
(05:51):
I like today and tonight's odds. I think he's going
to go out there. I think he's going to take
care of business. And that's just because this is a
resilience basketball team. This is a team that fired their
head coach in GM with a couple games left in
the season, and now we're in Round two, right and
it's three to two. Yes, okay, see is ahead of
this thing. But at the same time, for me, this
(06:13):
is a series where a lot of people said, man,
get out the brooms, they're gonna get swept, and Nuggets
have no chance and they still have an opportunity. So
you take care of business tonight and you see what
happens in Game seven.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Yeah, and that's exactly right.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
This game certainly is going to be a gut check
moment for the Nuggets, for the opportunity that there's going
to be in front of them.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
I feel really good about their chances of winning this game.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
But I say the other side of that again with
Jamal Murray news, it just, you know, whatever shaky ground
I think some people feel out there about the team,
about their mentality, about how.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
Tired they are.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I'm sure people are done talking about it, but how
tired they are that tends to sort of jump into
this entire conversation.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Say, two games in the NBA season though, you guys.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, and then you did a seven game series against
the Clippers, and you're into game six and you you've
been every other day playing, right, there's been no time off.
I mean, you won game seven with the Clippers and
you flew out to Oklahoe City the very next day
to play the next series.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
So Dave, good to see my friend. See you guys too.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
We were just sort of sort of chopping up this game.
Jamal Murray news he's questionable tonight with an illness. How
does that frame what you think might happen? You didn't
mean to kick in the stomach. Does you walked in
the studio.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
If you were trying if you're trying to that sound,
you were trying to put letters to it?
Speaker 6 (07:44):
What?
Speaker 2 (07:44):
What what would that look like?
Speaker 4 (07:46):
It found sounded like a gut punch, like a What
would the.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Letters be if? Like you you went So, I do.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Know what.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
I think I think the entire city started with it.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
F Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
I mean, I don't know, don't know what the illness is. So,
I mean, obviously not good and I think they'd be
even harder pressed to win the game if if Jamal
is not able to play.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
So they were.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
Almost immediately after Game five they were a four.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
And a half point underdog in Vegas.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
So it's gone to five and a half, five and
a half, but it's still on the board, still on board,
So that tells me Jamal is going to play if Jamal.
If they weren't sure that Jamal is going to play,
I would say they would take that game down and
they'd make certain they didn't put it up until they
were able to figure.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Out whether he was playing or not.
Speaker 5 (08:56):
My handed dandy app right now, I guess if that
game is still up, that tells me Jamal is going
to play.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Okay, I was asking though a moment ago, about what
he even expects to see in this game, because I
think both teams can make the argument that this year
series should already be over for for either one of them.
The Nuggets blowing two fourth quarter leads should say they
could have had this thing in hand, it'd be done. Meanwhile,
(09:22):
Oklahoma City could look at the Nuggets wins and say
both of those were kind of last second. You know,
Aaron Gordon making the three to overtime, made the three
to win it near the buzzer. The Oklahoma City Thunder
probably could say they've controlled most of this series. It's
a weird it's a weird series to break down in
that respect, and maybe that is the reflection of just
how good these two teams are.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
I don't know, Yeah, I think I think Oak City
looks at this and they see Minnesota knockout Golden State.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Still on the board. What's that still on the board?
Speaker 5 (09:53):
They see Minnesota knockout Golden State last night, and I
think Oak City won seeing this as soon as they can.
They also don't want to go back, even though Game
seven would be at home. You're still playing Nikola Jokic
and he is capable, and you saw it in Game
five of almost almost single handedly putting them in a
(10:15):
position to win the game, and so you're gonna get
Oklahoma City's a game tonight for sure.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
And I think the Nuggets. I think the Nuggets.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
Feel like, hey, you know what, if we play our game,
we can beat this team. We've already proven that, and
we're at home, and we want to force game seven
because they've got the best player in the world. The
Nuggets do so again. The Jamal thing is the great unknown,
but the fact that the game is still on the
board in Las Vegas tells me that Jamal will in
(10:47):
fact play.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
I mean, how don't you go though, if you're Jamal
and I.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Get it, trust me before you got here, Dave, I've
been down and I've been sick for the last forty
eight hours.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
I've been in bed, not to and anything. And guess what, you.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Get your ass out of bed, come do this show
exactly because look at you.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
You are committed exactly right back against the wall the
guys need tomorrow morning.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Believe this.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
I'm calling you, blaming you for bringing your sick fanny
to work.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
We are seven ft away. If you're a go. I
feel better though today, and I've been I've been.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
All the medication in the world, and I don't get
the team doctors.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Jamal should be having an IVY and as as we do. Theything. Hey,
it wasn't available to me. What if it was, I
might have I might have considered.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Period.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Hey, it's trying to help.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
It does it does solve a lot of things.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I mean, you might create some other issues, but I
think it would solve some things, almost any any ailment.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
It gets right in your system.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
That's right, quick and fast.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Oh, it does get right in your system. It's right
up here and there, right up in there. That's the
way we said, right, and they were right up in there.
That's the best way to take.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
That's the best way for it to for some get
some someday.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
He brought up Oklahoma City's mindset, and I actually thought
inside the NB, I don't if you heard this. Last
night they were talking a little about it, and Shack said.
Speaker 7 (12:17):
This, I'll tell you what. Okay, so you better win tomorrow.
They don't have to win tomorrow. Never got to win tomorrow.
He got to win tomorrow. Never got to win tomorrow. Hey,
the Knicks didn't have to win tonight. Hold for Game seven, Okay,
what that means? That don't mean nothing, Gym. And he knows,
(12:37):
he knows what happened. The back's going to be tight.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
They were tight last night.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
They won.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I would say this game seven, yes, matter where it is.
Speaker 7 (12:47):
Yeah, you have to know that there is a from
from the bulking Man.
Speaker 2 (12:56):
Every different and he is a different.
Speaker 7 (12:59):
And I wouldn't want to have that one game against him,
not one.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
The old Pewter hole checked their backs getting tight. You
might as well have said that I didn't.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Hear that, but that's that's what I mean.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
That's why I think Oklahoma City will come out tonight
and do everything possible to try to end it.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
They can play loose, they can play free, but they they.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
They do not want to have Yokic in a one
game certain no matter where the game is, one game,
winner take all, because we've already seen that picture.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
We've seen what he is capable of doing.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
And in game five, if you forecast Game seven, a
game that Jokic could have a similar kind of game,
here's what would be different. The rest of the Nuggets
are not going to be one to fifteen in the
fourth quarter. So I think tonight's going to be one
of those knockdown dragouts. And you know, I hope Jamal
(13:58):
is able to go, but I think you're going to
get great effort from both teams.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Yeah, no doubt. And I love what Shaq said because
I truly believe that that's what it is. If OKC
comes out tonight and they do not win, strike up
the band. I'm bet in the house that the Nuggets
are in the Western Conference Finals. The Nuggets have been
here before, and we've seen it all season.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
So this is what I hate. It's a love hate
relationship that I have with the Denver Nuggets. And the
reason is.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
You'll watch them play games in November and December, games
that some would say these games don't even matter. And
your expectation is Nicola Jokics is going to play twenty
maybe twenty five minutes, because they should blow this team out.
They should get an early lead, they should be able
to sustain it, and now let's develop our younger players.
(14:53):
But for whatever reason, this team does not have that
cutthroat mentality that they should have. So now you see
a guy like NICOLEA. Jokis in the game, that does
not matter that they should have been blowing this team out.
All of a sudden, you look at the box score
and he's playing thirty five minutes. This team is built
to go to Long Haul. They went and played against
(15:13):
the Clippers. We were talking about it right before we
got on air. They beat them in game seven. All
of a sudden, you got to turn right around, you
gotta fly to OKC. You're getting ready to play for
the second round. I like this team's odds when it
comes to playing overtime. I like this team's odds when
series goes deeper because they have done that time and
(15:33):
time again in the regular season.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
And oh, by the way, we all live in.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
The greatest state right here in the whole entire country,
in Colorado, and we benefit because of the altitude as well.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
So if OKC does.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Not get it done tonight, I'm betting the house on
the Nuggets winning Game seven and making it to the
Western Conference Finals because they've done it time and time again.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
They were doing some on court interview stuff with the
guys from the Oklahoma City Thunder and I didn't pull this,
but Alex Caruso is asked about the mindset of the team,
knowing they really have two shots at this, and they said,
we don't have two shots.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
We have to win tonight.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
We can't make we can't make this a game seven.
So we know that we know that this is this
is a win. This has got to be treated like
a winner go home. And he's right, I mean, because
you once you get to game seven, it can go anyway.
And we've said this before, Dave, we said this after
the loss of Game five. The pressure squarely goes on
the home team in that game seven. I get squarely
on the number one seed that wons sixty eight games
(16:36):
in the regular season that everybody said, this is their time,
they've arrived. Theoretically, had the MVP hasn't been announced officially yet,
but theoretically have the MVP on their team, the pressure
would also be squarely on them in that game seven.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
So that's the that's the Nuggets job tonight is force that.
Speaker 5 (16:52):
I think Oak City would would feel pressure. I think
the pressure, I think they would feel what you just described.
I think the pressure would be the same. Here's the
difference between the two teams in a in a game
seven situation. The Nuggets late in the game know exactly
what they're doing. Now you know they got away from it.
(17:14):
You say, well, what the hell happened in game five? Okay,
I mean that that point would be valid. But more
times than not, I know what's gonna happen. It's gonna
be a two man game, whether it's Jamal and the Joker,
whether it's Ag and the Joker. The Joker is going
to have his hands on the on the basketball. I'm
still not completely sure. And I said this even before
the series started, which is why I gave the Nuggets
(17:36):
a puncher's chance to win this series.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
As great as ok City has been.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
At the end of the game, I mean, it's it's
sga on, a lot of ISO stuff and four guys
standing trying to make sure they know when the ball's
going up so we can go get it.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
So I I'm like Orlando.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
I I mean, if the Nuggets can find a way
to win tonight, I I like their chances in Game
seven going back to Oklahoma City. I really do, because
they've got the best player in the world in a
one game, winner, take all situation.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
It's also a young basketball team as well. And you
know when we saw that Game one and everybody gave
the Nuggets no chance, right, and oh look at OKC
and they've been resting.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
They got the sweep in the first.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Round, Nuggets came out, continue to play basketball when you
have a young basketball team, and you know, you look
at SG eight, he is the oldest person in their
starting lineup, twenty six years old.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
Pretty wild.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
I just think that if tomorrow does, if tonight does
not go their way, I could see a lot of
bickering on the sidelines. I could see a lot of
you know, kind of pulling apart of a basketball team.
It's a young basketball team. That's what I loved about
the Nuggets a couple of years ago. When we go
get Jeff Green, and we go get a couple older guys,
(19:01):
we keep it DeAndre Jordan. We have some older guys
on the ground that help keep this thing together. When
you are a young basketball team that has not been
there before, and the expectations are so high and now
you're not able to capitalize on that or do the
things that you're expected to do, it literally, the Vulcan
could erupt that at any given moment. So they have
(19:23):
to win tonight. If they don't win tonight, I'm going
to have my eyes glued to their bench the whole
entire time during Game seven, because when things are not
going right, you're going to see it. You're going to
see the frustration on the players. You're going to see
the frustration on the coaches, because everybody's going to be wondering,
what the heck happened? Why are we not able to
(19:44):
get past this team. We're supposed to be the best
thing since Lifespread, and this was supposed to be our
year to go win our first NBA title.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Great point, by the way, with the SGA, Dave, I
don't think we talk about them as a team of
their depth so often, but I think sometimes it's ignored
by the design of what they are. The great defense, right,
we talked about that, they're swarming defense. But when it
comes to the offensive side of the ball, it is
it's hey, what can SGA create and maybe some dish
outs to these guys on the perimeter, get some shots
(20:16):
like that. And if it's not gonna be the case,
then Hardenstein's going to be crashing the boards. They'll just
send a couple of guys to crash. But yeah, it's SGA,
it's the SGA show.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah, he's He's a great player, for sure. I just think.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Oklahoma City is better when everything is free flowing, when
shots are going down. They love to get out and run.
They've got a terrific collection of athletes. That's not the
game you want to get in. But late in the game,
in a close game, things things slow down a little bit.
So but it all comes down to what happens tonight.
(20:50):
I mean, the nugget, it won't matter. Game seven if
the Nuggets don't take care of business tonight.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
No doubt about it. All right, We're off and rolling
here on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Can't wait for the games that I got moved up
to six thirty so for all people that don't like
staying up super late like myself, very excited about that.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
So we'll obviously spend a lot of time talking about
that game.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
We got a couple of NFL stories, including the Caleb
Williams story that came out today that I want to
get to in.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
A little bit.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
But when we come back, Bill Hanslick is gonna join us.
We'll get his thoughts on a pivotal game six tonight
and that's next Okawa.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
Six thirty tip.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
And to help us break it all down, we head
out to the Ka Commas Spirit Health Highline and bring
on Bill Hansley from outstew Television.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Always great to catch up with your hands. You're on
with Dave Logan Ryan Vers in Orlando, Franklin.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
How are you man?
Speaker 6 (21:35):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (21:35):
Life is good? You know why because I'm headed to
my favorite bike shop, Adventure Cycling, and I'm plan on
getting a bike ride in before this big Nugger game.
It'll calm the nerves. Eric's got me all tuned up
over there, and I'm I'm pumped.
Speaker 6 (21:51):
I'm pumped for this game tonight.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
So I've got to ask you here.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
You're the only friend that I know that actually, when
you get ready to go on a bike ride, you
get in a car for and drive to a bike shot.
Speaker 8 (22:03):
Yeah, because I got my bike had a little mechanical
issue when I bike done it on Tuesday, so I
took it in and he told me he was ready.
Speaker 6 (22:11):
I said, time is perfect, Eric, I'm.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
Coming over nice all right, hands before the bike ride,
Let's just cut to it. Give our audience the two
most important things in your mind the Nuggets have to
do tonight if they're going to get a win in
Force Game seven.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
WHOA okay, Dave.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
Number one, you got to defend. In the games they've won,
they've kept that score of Oklahoma City.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
Kind of down.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
I don't know the exact numbers, one hundred hundred and five,
and they're kind of playing a zone, matchup zone and
they've been pretty good with that.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
So that's number one.
Speaker 8 (22:48):
Number two got to shoot it in the fourth quarter
one for twelve the last two fourth quarters against Oklahoma
City from the three point line.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
Ouch, just say if you made three of twelve, you might.
Speaker 8 (23:03):
Win one or both of those games. So got to
shoot it better than the fourth and play good.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
D Hans.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
I'm a football guy by nature. That's what I've done
all my life and when I've been in locker rooms.
One of my favorite coach is Adam gaseon his philosophy
was always let's see how fast we could get to
thirty five so we could rest our starters. When I
look at the Nuggets and the last couple of games
happened to lead in the fourth quarter and that lead
(23:30):
dwindling away. Is that a coaching thing? Is that a
player's thing? What exactly is that it's like? And can
that be fixed?
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (23:41):
Well here's my thought. First, you gotta give Oklahoma City credit.
They are a very deep team.
Speaker 6 (23:48):
They play a physical brand of basketball and they rotate.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Players in and out.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
The Nuggets don't have that luxury.
Speaker 8 (23:55):
They got to primarily be starters, got to play the minutes.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
Uh, there's not just not a lot of production. They
can get off the bench and they can win with that. Okay,
it's not saying you can't, So I'm not you know,
using your timeouts at the right.
Speaker 8 (24:11):
Time to maybe get starters rest so they can play
more minutes that that enters in the picture.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
I'm sure coach Adelman has thought about that, particularly in
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 8 (24:24):
Just going over the bench and you know, sit for
a couple of minutes at a normal time out can
be a big bonus for the Nuggets. So, yeah, the
fourth quarter is just huge. And give Coke Oklahoma City credit.
I mean, they're physical, they wear you down, and it
has impacted the Nuggets shooting in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
In my opinion.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
So we have certain expectations about what nicolea Jokis is
gonna do. I certainly hopefully now questionable. Jamal Murray hoping
he's played tonight, obviously need him. Aaron Gordon is gonna
has been pretty i think, relatively consistent. I think the
wild parts of this game and this entire series have
been MPJ and Russell Westbrook, and considering the way the
game ended in Game five, I imagine they're expected to
(25:10):
bounce back. What are your expectations for MPJ and Russell
Westbrook tonight.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
Well, I'd add a third component part into that. Christian
Brown has been incredible defensively on.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
Alexander.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
He's done a great job. There are no complaints there. Offensively,
he hasn't been quite at the level that he was
at in the Clipper game.
Speaker 8 (25:32):
So if you get a little more production from him,
a little more production from MPJ.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
And you get Russ making some buckets, that would be
a huge mango slip for the Nuggets. So even if
you got two out of those three guys giving you something,
that's big because you know, as good.
Speaker 8 (25:49):
As Joker is, we saw it the other night, he
cannot carry the whole team the whole way if you
did everything possible that you could possibly ask to win
this game, and they needed a little more production from
some of those guys.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
We're talking to Bill Hansleck.
Speaker 5 (26:06):
Can you see him on Altitude TV, former Nugget player,
former Nugget head coach as well. My final question hands
David Adelman, and I think he's done a pretty good
job honestly, since taking over for Michael Malone. Has he
done as we sit here today before Game six, has
(26:29):
he done enough to be the next head coach of
the Nuggets on a full time basis or has that
yet to be decided at least in your opinion?
Speaker 8 (26:41):
Well, here, Dave, that's a great question, and I kind
of said this right what he took over what would
it take for David Adamman to be considered the next
Nuggets head coach full time, not interim? And I thought, well, first,
you got to win your final three home games, because
that's going to give you a home we're in the playoffs. Next,
(27:01):
you got to win that first playoff series, and they
did against even when seven.
Speaker 6 (27:07):
Games they did against the Clippers, and the Clippers.
Speaker 8 (27:10):
Remember they had won eighteen of twenty one games to
close out the season.
Speaker 6 (27:15):
They were on so we obviously did a great job.
Speaker 8 (27:18):
And my fird thought was, if you don't win the
Oklahoma City but you can really have a good showing, yes,
in my opinion, that would be enough.
Speaker 6 (27:29):
Now.
Speaker 8 (27:29):
I don't know what they're thinking about on the inside.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
I absolutely don't, but I think those three things add
up to a big plot positive for David Adelman.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Completely agree. Last one and a half for your hands,
appreciate the time. So we were having a conversation right
before he came on. Win game six and the momentum
shift theoretically would be in the favor of the Nuggets.
The pressure would also seemingly be on Oklahoma City as
the home team in that Game seven.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Do you agree with that sentiment?
Speaker 8 (27:58):
Oh, I totally. I think there's some pressure on again.
How can you keep the pressure and intensifiable. That's you know,
win game six and start off game seven really well.
But the more that you get him to miss some shots,
the more.
Speaker 6 (28:14):
The pressure kind of mounts.
Speaker 8 (28:15):
And yeah, I think.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
That's a possibility.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
I mean, I don't. I don't.
Speaker 8 (28:22):
Not with this veteran Nugget team, I don't think they're
scared of a Game seven on the road.
Speaker 6 (28:27):
I think they can win it.
Speaker 8 (28:30):
But we'll see Oklahoma City. They only lost fourteen games
all regular season.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
So they are good, no doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Hands enjoy your bike ride before tonight's game. Man, Thank
you so much for the time.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Great great talk with you guys.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
You guys are awesome, great show.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Hands see you hands great, Bill Hanslick, that's so awesome.
I love his energy. But I'm on the way to
get a bike. I'll go for a bike ride.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
So does he leave the bike where he picks up
the bike? Does he leave the car where he picks
up the bike?
Speaker 2 (28:59):
From them?
Speaker 1 (29:00):
That you got to get a ride too me logistics there,
don'n't worry about it. But he's gonna he's gonna ride
his bike.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
He's just gonna get the bike rid in. That's all
the matter is get the bike, ride in, forget the car,
pick up the car later on somewhere down the road.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Something like that.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
I yeah, I guess that would be probably the case.
It's pretty windy out there. I don't know what bike
riding the wind I don't know. Maybe the best time
to do it. No, it's amount of sweat, it's it's
a it's a.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Great day in Colorado windy. It does it too windy
for you to take a bike ride today? Good lord?
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Not much of a bike ride guy, anyways.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
You don't like to ride bike?
Speaker 7 (29:41):
Really?
Speaker 4 (29:42):
It's okay. It's a it's a little overrated. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
I do what you like about it? Physical exertion. You
gotta get you a good seat. I'll tell you you
one of those who likes the bike to be powered.
They want you don't really have to pedal. That's called
a motorcycle. You like, better get that one in.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Let it do it.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Yeah, that's for you. Gets it a lot faster, I'll say,
that that's true. Is it a lot faster?
Speaker 6 (30:07):
No?
Speaker 8 (30:08):
I just don't know.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
I just have them in a big bike. Cry guy,
would you get.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
A good hard workout to where you know you're I
mean sweating and the endorphins are flowing?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I mean, what does that workout look like? Getting? You
don't like bike riding, so what do you do?
Speaker 4 (30:23):
It's been so long since I've done that, I'd have
to like you.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
I mean no, seriously, we go to the gym.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
Once or twice a week, and that's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
What does it look like? Just weird stuff?
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah, free weights, Okay, that's usually with my wife and
I do, and then we just walk around the neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
So good for you.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Yeah, a new Year's resolution. We got a gym membership
and we go once twice a week.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Good for you.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
I had a fun thing, but yeah, just a not
a big bike I do. I used to do stationary
bike though, so it was kind of okay. Yeah, I
could take that good work out, warm up the legs
a little bit, A little bit, a little bit, all right,
we're act to hands there also the Bronco schedule get
into us all our thoughts A day later on that
(31:06):
We've had some really fun shows over the course of
this week. We appreciate you guys joining us, and again
you can set KA Sports as a preset like you said,
Kaway's a preset on You're completely free and totally awesome.
iHeartRadio app So we'll come back to the Nuggets here
in a second. Dave, we did the schedule release show
last night for the Denver Broncos the twenty twenty five
NFL season. You were pretty bullish, if I remember correctly
(31:30):
last night. After how are you feeling about it today?
A little bit less than twenty four hours removed from
You'll just fine. I feel just fine good, I feel
just fine. I feel just fine.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
No, what did I pick twelve?
Speaker 1 (31:43):
You know you on areas at eleven, but as soon
come the microwelve you said, I think I'm at twelve's I.
Speaker 5 (31:49):
Mean, that's that's aggressive twelve and five. I think it's
going to take twelve to win the West. Now, I
mean it's two ways looking at it.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
There are three.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
I'm I'm gonna assume the Raiders are gonna not be
in the playoffs. Could be wrong, but I'm gonna assume.
So I think there are three teams in the AFC
West that more than likely will find their way in.
I think you're gonna need twelve to win the West.
That's one way to look at it. The other way
is the Chiefs played the Chargers twice, the Broncos twice.
(32:21):
The Broncos played both of those two teams twice. So
they're gonna beat the hell out of each other. And
maybe maybe it doesn't take. Maybe maybe you win the
West eleven and six.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
I don't. I don't. I think you have to win
at least eleven to win the West.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
I think twelve, and I mean they're gonna have to
play good football, and they're gonna have.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
To hold courts, so to speak, at home.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
When this team has been a dominant team in the past,
they've been really good at home. They were better at
home last year than any of the preceding years, leading
all the way or going all the way back to
twenty fifteen. But they're gonna have to be Is it
nine and eight or eight and nine this year home?
I can't remember. I think I think I think it's
(33:05):
I think it's nine and eight, isn't it?
Speaker 4 (33:08):
They got nine home games?
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Nine home games, all.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
Right, So realistically, if Denver is going to be that
team and win the West, which I think they can,
they got to be seven to two in nine home games.
Then in the eight road games you split, you got
to be a five hundred team on.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
The road, and you're eleven and six.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Right, So that's the bare minimum if you're realistically talking
about knocking the Chiefs off. The Chiefs have won the
AFC West every single year since twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Well is that right? Wait? No, no, no, the Raiders
won once, didn't they No, No, the Chiefs they wanted
every single year.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
That's remarkable. What do you think, oh, when you have
a chance to look at.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
It as far as just winning the AFC West, well,
I just.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Think of what do you think?
Speaker 1 (33:59):
It's drools or anything that jumped out to you, things
that you liked about it's as far as the ub
and flow of it.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
I liked everything about this schedule. But one thing, to
be honest with you, well, two things. After going to London,
you gotta come You don't get a bye week after
coming back from London. But also the week before you
play against the Philadelphia Eagles. So you're playing a tough
Philadelphia Eagles football team. You're gonna get beat up, You're
(34:26):
gonna have practice all week. Then you got to get
on a flight and you gotta fly halfway around the country,
and flights for a big boy, it's a nightmare for
a big boy. The information starts stepping in and you
just get cramped up and it just feels so much
worse coming off of a flight after flying.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
For so long.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
So those were my only two gripes about the schedule
when I saw it.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
You don't get the buye right.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
After playing against the Jets in London, and the week
before going to London, you're playing against the Philadelphia Eagles team.
But other than that, man like what I see. You know,
even with playing Philadelphia, it's a short week, right, you
get Cincinnati on Monday night and then you got Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
That's that Sunday and then everything else. For me, I
like it.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
I like how they scheduled it. I like week one
playing against Tennessee. I think not only Broncos Country, not
only the Tennessee fans, but there's gonna be a lot
of other fans tuning in to see the number one
overall pick in the twenty twenty twenty twenty five draft.
Pick in cam Ward from my alma mater, University of Miami.
(35:35):
I will one hundred percent be chairing on the Denver
Broncos the heck with cam Ward in that game here.
But I think you're gonna get a lot of fans
chairing on for the Broncos or watching the Broncos are
getting a look and seeing what has bo Nicks taken
a big step?
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Where what can this football team be this year?
Speaker 3 (35:55):
So just seeing how it all kind of shook out,
I like the Bronco's chances. I love the fact that
got that Week twelve by that's right around the time
where you kind of need it. You get two Thursday
night football games in there. Those are many bye weeks
as well. The rest of the body love the fact
that Week seventeen, when you played against the Kansas City Chiefs,
(36:17):
you have a Thursday night football game right there, and
you only have one more game after that, right so
you get a nice little bye. You have to finish
off the season. You might be playing to win the
AFC West at that point, and then it's playoff time.
So I think this schedule how it shook up, it
shook up in Broncos' favor for sure.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Nice all right, you know, Dave, you brought up something
and let's get to it.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
On the other side, I think it's very very important
for his distinction of way it all lays out.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
We'll explain next
