They have to just like the Broncos, they have three
preseason games. Joe had success when they brought him back

and Kevin Stefanski was the head coach then, so I
think he gives you a bit more stability than any
of the other three quarterbacks, and I think depending on
how he plays and what can the start they get
off to, that may very well decide win one of
those young quarterbacks. I think that the interesting thing to

watch about the Browns quarterback room is which one of
the young quarterbacks kind of surfaces.

Is it can he Pickett who's been in the league

I think Flacco will be the guy, and they hope

maybe they try to move can He Pickett to a
team that is more quarterbacks starved than even the Cleveland Browns.

I guess with Joe Flacco because of his better leadership,
you got Kenny Pickett, who is a Super Bowl champion,
by the way, and then you get a couple of rookies.
I'm not exactly sure how that is expected to work.

So here's how I see that playing out in Cleveland
for both people here listening to the show that actually
care about the Browns. I think Joe Flacco will be
the starting quarterback Week one, and I don't know how
it's going to shake out the competition in the preseason.
They have to just like the Broncos, they have three
preseason games. Joe had success when they brought him back

and Kevin Stefanski was the head coach then, so I
think he gives you a bit more stability than any
of the other three quarterbacks, and I think depending on
how he plays and what can the start they get
off to, that may very well decide win one of
those young quarterbacks. I think that the interesting thing to

watch about the Browns quarterback room is which one of
the young quarterbacks kind of surfaces.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
And is next in line.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Is it can he Pickett who's been in the league
a couple of years whatever, or is it Shador Sanders
or Dylan Gabriel. Gabriel a third round pick should do
or a fifth round pick. I don't think where they
were were picked necessarily will matter, but one of those
young quarterbacks, if the Browns get what they want this year,
I think Flacco will be the guy, and they hope

he plays well and then one of those either Dylan
Gabriel or Shador Sanders surfaces and he is the heir
apparent and ready to go at number two.

Yeah, who basically Flacco wins it. Picket isn't there, and
whichever one of the rookies picks it up the fastest
with the edge probably to Chador. Gabriel's got better tools,
but I think Schador's got to hire football like you.

So they're just gonna cut pick it to that point

got me thinking more about like, hey, I hate quarterback competitions.

This one with four guys. It's bad enough with two
or three.

Maybe, I mean, at least the Broncos narrowed it down
between sort of two guys by the second week of
training camp. I don't even know when you're gonna narrow
this thing down, well, not really, I mean, you think
about it.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Zach Wilson sort of factored in in fact, he played
which preseason game was that last year?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Played a lot? Was that the last one? Last one? Yeah?
And played pretty well.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
So, I I mean the staff in Cleveland probably know,
like after that preseason game number two sort of what
they're doing and then the starter won't play at all
in the preseason game number three, and they'll maybe they
rotate those two young guys and then maybe if if
they think one of those two young guys is the answer,

maybe can He Pickett doesn't get any reps, or maybe
maybe they try to move can He Pickett to a
team that is more quarterbacks starved than even the Cleveland Browns.
But you know, I don't think if Flaco's the guy,
then I don't think Pickett makes the team. If Picket's
the guy, I don't think Flacco.

Makes the team. But one of those two young.

Guys, if they're the only way that you keep both
Flaco and Picket is in my estimation, if both Shador
and Dylan sort of show like, wow, they're not ready
to go, they may be Okay. At some point, neither
one of these guys right now do we feel comfortable
putting in a game and they can lead us to

a win, then you've got the two veterans.

In fact, if I were a betting man, which I've
been known to be, I would put money on Kenny
Pickett being an Orleans Saint. Yeah, familiarity with Kellen Moore
in that quarterback room is Tyler Shug, Spencer Rads, Jay Hayner,
and Hunter Deckers.

Get to tonight's game, which is going to tip in
about an hour and a half, I'm going to give
some love to the Pacers.

I think they in terms of the rotation, I think
they've got a better team than the Knicks, certainly deeper
team and a less than Knicks. Want to change how
they approach the game from a defensive standpoint. They they're

You know, you've got to I mean defense, even at
the NBA level, I think so much of that is effort,
some of it is scheme, but you've got to be
willing to when a shot goes up and the other
team gets the ball, or a shot is made and
the other team takes the ball out of the basket,
you have to run back on defense.

Kat and other Knicks players not not really busting there,
you know what, to get back on d You have
no chance against Indiana. The interesting matchup for me would
be Oak City and Indiana, and I think Oak City
would They would be a prohibitive favorite in the in
the series, they would have home courts and their defensive

mentalities a hell of a lot different. So you're going
to see Tyreese Halliburton getting picked up about when he
gets the ball thrown in from out of bounds under
the pacer basket, and it'll be it'll be much more contested.
He had so much He played great last night, but
he had so much room to kind of activate his game.

And I just don't think, you know, New York can't
beat Indiana. If Indiana's scorn one hundred and thirty points

You look at Kat Karl Anthony Towns and I made
the comment during during a break, He's the absolute dumbest,
really good player in the world.

Sort of personal attack attack, but just watching him play,
he does increditly dumb things for being a really good play.
He is really talented for a for a seven foot
or just under seven foot maybe maybe even seven foot
to have that kind of skill set, to be able
to shoot the ball outside, you'll be able to put

the ball on the floor, take it to the basket.

He just does some stuff.

You're like, you just cover your eyes and say, what
exactly are you doing? He got his either third or
fourth file last night. He's defending high screen role. His

him by the arm and just tugs on him and
holds it and almost looks at the official, And I'm like.

What it's an effective tactic?

You know, I sort of pull for the Knicks because
I think it'd be a cool story. I'm a big
Jalen Brunson fan. Neither Brunson nor Cat are very good
defensive players for sure, and then when you put your
defensive players in, you're challenge to score because you get
your two best scores off the court. So I think Indiana,

The one thing we didn't get to in the Attleman
comments the first segment was talking about shooting.

He said one of the biggest biggest needs for this
team is shooting. But not just like well, I know, I.

Know David broke correcord right, but he said it's timely shooting.
Like the way he framed it wasn't so much about
a volume conversation, more about we need guys that can
make those timely buckets and boy, yeah, like screaming from
the raptors man, like we all can see that it's been.

And so either you're saying that message to the guys
that are currently on the roster, like hey, Julius rather
who's sitting front row by the way, become that guy
for us.

I think Strawther's got a chance to become that guy.
I think he's got to get physically stronger, but he's
a kid that has some shooting ability. But I look
at some of the other teams you look at, I mean,
Oak City has a defensive mindset, but they also have
guys that can knock shots down.

From the perimeter. You look at Indiana.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Indiana has an offensive mindset, a continuous motion offense, but
they bring guys in off the bench that are smart,
tough players that I mean TJ. McConnell is not a
great three point shooter, and yet he's a solid enough
player that he can knock down a fifteen foot jump
shot and do so with regularities. So I think those

guys are out there. You can't tell me. I've said
this for years and years. I mean, you can find
those guys that are twelve to seventeen minute per night,
guys that are smart and tough and dependable and will
play hard and open. By the way, if they get
an open shot, open look, and you're gonna get open

looks with Jokic, they have the ability to knock shots down.

I think Nikhil Alexander Walker is going to be actually
a free agent off Minnesota.
