Speaker 1 (00:00):
Today. I'll be back with us on Monday.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
Benjamin Albright hanging out with me here on a Friday
here in the Male High City.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
Ben, Hi, I'm still fuming. Well, this is man. You
don't understand. Uh, basic, it's ham. It's black forest ham.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
And how dare anybody try to override me on a
McDonald's question.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Nobody in this building. It's more McDonald's.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
In fact, if I suddenly cease to exist, if I
pass away, sell your stock. But you all people understand marketing,
and the marketing is Canadian bacon. You're just wrong that
you can call it whatever you want. At the end
of the day, it's ham and it's black forest ham.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
And I'm right. So if you missed.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
This, this was of the day moments ago on the
Manny Connell Show and Ben lost on a technicality because
he said ham instead of Canadian bacon on the egg McMuffin.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
And my friend, this is on you not only lost,
but last place.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I think that's an important decision.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
You're right right, you're not first, your last, you were last.
It's literally called the McDonald's Ham and egg McMuffin. That
was what it was originally called.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
So they listed the ingredient as Canadian bacon when its.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Marketing ploy bio marketing.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
It's just weird that they continue to say Canadian bacon
even though you so how he did that because they
don't actually make a hammock like an only ham McMuffin
like they do the sausage McMuffin.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
That's why they changed it. Facts.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
I had to recount Jeopardy's lawyers will be hearing from them.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Rigged. The election was rigged, be lawsuits. It was rigged. Yeah,
we do we lose. It was rigged.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah, you should have won. Stop the steal side. That's right,
Stop the counts. You probably had to lead. In fact,
she probably came from behind right right there. She's smugly
getting on the elevator right now. I went from zero
to negative one. That's the first time I finished in
the negatives. I'm upset by the may Maybe there's list.
It happens to every man at some point. It's like
(02:07):
a revitalized health add confusing him for Canadian bacon.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I think we.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Started out we recorded BCT for later. We started doing
Men's Healthy Men over forty tonight talking about our back
issues and work it out and oh man, Anyways, very
excited to be with you.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
We have a short show today.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
We're on till four thirty because the Rockies are in
New York taking.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
On the Mets.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Should be an entertaining game. Hopefully the Rockies can get
a win, get to double digits, that would be great.
But we're gonna spend most of the time talking about
the Broncos. Many Fowler is gonna join us to studio
at four o'clock. He's gonna talk a little bit about
the Marius Thomas although about what he saw out there
practice yesterday at OTAs.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
We do have a poll question up at our Edwards Radio.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
You also find it at all Bright NFL and at
Zach Underscore Seekers. Zach tweeted as well a discussion we
got on a BCT which is funny because it's going
to be like reverse order, so like the BCT pod
will air tonight. Already doubled upon this discussion, right and
here we are going to be bringing it onto h
KA Sports. But for Evan Ingram, who I'm pretty excited
(03:19):
about his role on this team, we were having a
debate earlier sort of.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
About the expectations of his season.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
If the Broncos could only have one of these happen,
one hundred receptions or ten touchdowns, which would you choose. Now, again,
this isn't a projection. This isn't us saying that this
is what we think is going to happen, because I
didn't want a bunch of people in my mentions being
like that is never going to happen. He's never. No,
not saying that. Amazing if it did. But if you
(03:44):
could only choose one, well would you choose? And I
am stunned, frankly stunned by the responses so far that
people are taking the points, they're taking the ten touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Which is like double what Ingram has ever done in
the season.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Hey, listen, Steve Owler is right last night you you
are so wrong on this.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
You couldn't be more wrong. I'm literally correct.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Literally you're saying, no, you're you're right about the actual stats,
about the usage, about the way Sean Payton may view
Evan Ingram might be different than say Doug Peterson, different
than what he did there at the Giants. You bring
in a player for a skill set, and you do
some of it based on what they've done, but you
may have something else in mind, and you know he
(04:31):
tweeted out that whole joker gift. I'm not saying that's
exactly what he's gonna do here, but the fact is
Sean Payton might have.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
A little bit of different role. You don't know, Ben,
just saying you don't know. Okay, well we'll see.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Compelling and rich, great color, right I I I respectfully
disagreement Ingram has always been a between the twenties field stretcher,
you know type guy, or they'll use him on the screens,
as you know, but the heavy slot, you know, we
get the buzzword in there real quick. That's what he is.
(05:06):
He's not really a tight end. He's really an oversized
receiver that plays tip of the spear in the bunch
and then you you know, you use him on some
some screens and some other stuff to stretch the field
between the twenties.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
But he's not He's not that go up and get
it jump ball guy in the red zone. He's never
been that guy.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
He's most touchdowns he ever had a season with six
his rookie year and then it's been four or three
ever since then, sometimes one.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
But he has have a hundred receptions before. He has
had a.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Hundred receptions and they throw the ball to him, you know,
and spam him with those kind of targets, And I
think that's I think there are two questions here. I
think the pole question, which would you rather you're going
to take the points, because you're going to take the points.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
But I think the which is more likely would be
the receptions.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
I mean, it would be more likely that he'd wind
up with a hundred receptions than it would that he
would be have ten touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
I'm having Zach look this up. I want.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
I can't think of the last time the Broncos even
had somebody with a hundred receptions who wasn't.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
In the meantime. Sorry, a different stat nugget I got.
Jared Cook had never had more than six touchdowns in
any given season before signing with the Saints, then had
sixteen touchdowns over two seasons.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Boom, so he was eight. He averaged eight in a season.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
After never having more than six. He was another guy
who topped out at six. Had a lot of years
of four, three, two. He was like Evan Ingram.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
His best season was six, and he went up two touchdovers.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Three all the way to nine, all the way to
nine and then the next year he had seven.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Yeah, Ingram his best season is six from nine would
not be that ridiculous. You know that's the same ballpark.
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Bringing some logic into this conversation, yah know, just yeah, No,
I mean because Carlon Sutton got to ten touchdowns just
last or two years ago. One hundred receptions, Yeah, on
hundred receptions. Last time in the Broncos had a receiver
had one hundred receptions. Uh, well, I know Sanders did
his first year in twenty fourteen, so that would be
(06:47):
it has to be. If it's more frequent, it's gonna
be the Manning years for sure. Yeah, Cat had some
after fourteen, you know. Yeah, and we did Welker get
to one hundred. Well, this is twenty fourteen, so welcome
would have been before or that. Yeah, So I don't know,
you have to you have to look at like Damarius
had one hundred and five receptions in twenty fifteen.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
It would be that Da Marius season in twenty fifteen
where you had one hundred and five.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
There it is.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah, so it's been over a decade, says you had
a hotter reception. It's only been two years since we
had a double digit touchdown receiver, right, but it's been
over a decade since you had well, I'm saying, I'm
saying em an Ingram. I don't know why you keep
getting stuck.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
On this because he's between the twenty eight. It's it's
a different world we live in now. He's in a
different world.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
He's a thirty one year old heavy slot who's gonna
be here's not going to get ten touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Even more so, Cortland Sutton's eighty one last season is
the closest any Broncos receiver has come to that one
hundred mark since twenty fifteen.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
It's good start there.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
As we spread the ball around a lot point being here,
hundred receptions should be the vote here. It just it
feels like that's because and I understand the argument of
what people are saying here on Twitter. They're saying, well,
you take the points. Take the points because ten touchdowns,
because what does that mean for the rest of the group.
Right if he by himself is getting ten touchdowns, I
(08:08):
see what you're talking about. I feel like the hundred
receptions for him will continue to lead for good things
for the rest of the team.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Besides, you're expecting to be better in the run game
as well.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
So this for me would be more of a continuity
conversation of keeping the offense consistently on the Field's that's
what Evan Ingram getting a hundred receptions would mean to me,
or it means they're just throwing it to him on
third down and it's not getting there.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
I mean, they have a lot of sources for touchdowns
in the offense, like Pat Bryant should thrive in the
red zone, kurtland Sutton, We've seen that over the past
two season. I would be Marvin Nins can get like
gadgeting and designer touchdowns here. There maybe not a high
volume guy. They don't have that yeah b laser great
red zone target. They don't have a guy right now
who projects is like an easy, high volume option. If
Evan Ingram could be that, that answers more of a
(08:57):
need I think than like the red zone touchdown Monster.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Adkins will have more touchdowns this year than have anger.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
You feel to me like you're still sulking about the
Ham thing that that's what this ham are you? Are
you ready to actually do the show or do you
need a minute? I'm Corlunton had w eight. Last year
he had Mims had six. I mean, those guys, you're
gonna see touchdowns get spread around. You know, in this offense,
as far as it goes, you probably have more to
the running backs than they had last year. But you know,
(09:24):
with the addition of Harvey and the outflux of Javante.
But I don't know, man, I just I'd rather have
the points. Like at the end of the day, it's
just easy to have the points.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Somebody on the text line Mandy cheated again? Yeah, did
you text that? Is that your number? That it's not
my number? I had to check. Evert Ingram averages two
point three four touchdowns per season.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Here. Canadian bacon tastes a little better than ham because
the Canadians treat their big is more plays.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Oh my god, guys are killing me, absolutely killing me.
That's good. I thought it was because they wear plat
Oh you know, maybe that's it is a.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Okay, Well, anyways, keep voting on the poll question at
or Edwards Radio. Definitely a chimeing here on the text
line five six six nine zero. If you've got some
insight on that. On Evan Ingram, I think we're all
pretty excited about what he can be. Whether you want
to just label him as a heavy slot like Ben. Again,
that's a drinking game, so be careful out there. Or ever,
every time you say heavy slot, I quite literally text
(10:25):
grant drank. You guys need to you guys need to
put out some kind of PSA before the show, because
Ben is gonna say heavy slot probably four or five
times in a segment, and.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
It's just that safe man. This is a public health notice.
That's what he is.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
That's what Mike Evans is for Tampa. Okay, he's listed
as a tight end. Do you want to tell you sure?
Listed as a tight end? The listed Tim Tebow as
a quarterback too. It's because he played quarterback for a
playoff game. Playing quarterback, I then lost one and embarrassing
fashion night after that. That's not what we're talking about, though,
(11:01):
I know you know there was Justin Field's one.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Of the AFC West as quarterback.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
It wasn't didn't wh it wasn't did he win that
because Kyle Orton went to the Chiefs or whatever They
wasn't that?
Speaker 1 (11:15):
What do you have to add qualifiers?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
I was that year, wasn't It was like something ridiculous
Orton won a game with the Chiefs against the Broncos
that year.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
I'm stating a fact just to acknowledge the fact and
move on.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Yeah, that is full of more blank than a Christmas turkey.
If your Christmas turkeys are full of blank and you're
serving those of the 's something wrong with you. Although
the person right before that says, I'm with Ben here,
the Ingram hype needs to slow down a little.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Ah. That is also about my number a lot of
wet blankets.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
I'm just like, like, look, I think if it Ingram's
a great addition to this. I think what he the
value that he adds is more and what he opens
up for other people. I don't think he's going to
approach a hunter receptions or ten touchdowns, but you know,
I mean, I think it's a valuable add to the offense.
And and Nate Atkins is the low red zone guy.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
They go to, I want to talk about Zach Allen
for a minute.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Article up here on ESPN talking about contract negotiations for teams,
and they talk about Nick Bonneto on here they talking
about Corland Sudden, then talk about Zach Allen. Zach Allen
led the NFL last year in quarterback hits with forty
quarterback hits. Yep oteke Zua out of Dallas was second
(12:27):
with twenty three, Chris Jones at twenty. Somebody responded to
this saying, based on this stat I think it's clear
to see Zach Allen as twice the player that Chris Jones.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Hits a lot of control.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
It's so great, But Zach Allen not listening as we
can get to Nick Benito and Corland Sutton, who by
the way, both out at OTAs same thing with Zach Allen.
He's out there as well. What is Zach Allen's situation?
What's the contract look like in your opinion? And when
do you get that done? Well, you'll have done this
year because there's I mean there's still you've got a
(13:03):
grace period, because there's money. I mean there's the contract
years for next year, although there's no guaranteed money in that.
You know, his contract this year is a base salary
at twelve point seven six point five seventy five million,
signing bonus five hundred and ten thousand per game roster bonuses,
so the cap numbers nineteen point seven. But the next
(13:23):
year's all those void years. So he's got a twelve
point two cap number next year despite having no base salary.
You know, there's just pro rated signing bonus stuff that's
that's going on there. That's the danger of getting into
those void years in that kind of stuff. So you
need to get a new contract in front of him
because you're at twelve point two cap number with no savings.
(13:46):
So you want to you'll want to find a way
to you know, to manipulate that his number. I mean,
you're looking at a pretty high number. I mean, Benito's
the conversation starts at twenty five million. Courtland Sutton, the
conversation starts at twenty five million. Zach Allen, the conversation
starts around twenty five million.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
You can probably do two of those and not three.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
And I would suggest that continuing to keep your defense
together rather than paying a thirty something receiver, that's.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
You know, he's probably the way to do that.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Well, we had the debate yesterday or a couple days
ago with Dave Logan about the timing of Courtland Sutton.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Again he's shown up to OTAs.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
I mean, that's that's not nothing, because he didn't do
it last year and he still had two years left
in his contract last year, and he was I guess
theoretically more unhappy, if you will, at that time decided
not to or to use a little bit more of
his leverage during OTAs he should have from manatory main camp.
But he made it very clear he wanted a new contract,
he wanted something. They gave him some bumps with incentives,
(14:44):
but theydn't really do much with his contract. So here
he is out there at OTA's right now. And I
guess the read for that for me, and I guess
you include Zach Allen and and Nic Medio to a
certain extent, is that they all feel confident that something
is coming. Meanwhile JFM, John Franklin Myers, and I'm not
(15:04):
panicking about this is all voluntary, but he is not
out there. He's gonna make it from back for mandatory
Mini camp. But he's been pretty vocal on Twitter saying
that he wants a new contract and he's unhappy with
where he's currently at because his production should warrant more money.
But you just said it two out of three, as
Meatloaf would say, looking at.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Yes, I mean that's that's probably what you're looking at.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
You probably can't afford to pay all three what they
want and go from there. And then there's some others
in there. You're paying John Franklin Myers. You know, may
it'll be a lesser number, but are you paying him
as well? You know, you got to figure out the
right tackle of left guard spots. You know, the mcglincheyan
Powers contracts will be coming up to year after that.
What are you gonna do there? Boe Nix's contract will
(15:50):
be coming up a couple of years after that. So
you've got to plan judiciously here. And that's the thing.
It just doesn't make a lot of sense to invest
in money in Courtland suttunless.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
It's all front loaded.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
And if you're doing that, that means you've got to
figure out a way to backload or smooth the Benito
and Zach Allen things, because if you don't, you're you're
in trouble.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
You're not gonna be able to pay her buddy. Text
line five six six nine zero.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
The original egg McMuffin introduced by Herb Peterson is an
herb or herba is that hard h We went over
this last night in nineteen seventy one, contained Canadian bacon.
It was not initially hand it's black Forest Ham. That's
called Badian bacon. I'm sure the Texter said that it's
black Forest hamb Peterson.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
It's not Herb that's texting you. Herb died. Are you
sure we should be careful about that? We don't want to.
It was the truth that I said to it. He's
still he's still be around Herb Peterson. We want to
place the bet on that.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Well, I'm just saying, like, you gotta be careful about
killing off people. Terry Bradshaw's died, how many she's just
gonna be really? Herb Peterson died in two thousand and eight. Okay,
all right, well then officially yeah, but that doesn't officially well,
that doesn't dimiss the points it was introduces Canadian bacon.
I'm sure they called it that, but the reality is
it's black Forest Ham. Canadian bacon is just back bacon
(17:05):
versus America bacon, which is belly bacon.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
You guys gonna get into Brekfast Foods with me? Really?
You just gotta take the l you already name. I
refuse one.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Oh, I'll starts sounding like loosely lawless and whatever that
show was is he know what.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
This is herbs Kid so great herbs Kid texting it,
There's no way if it really is, that would be
the greatest ever. Yeah all right, so so so for Zach.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Just as we ran out this conversation, we have some
more insights to get through from practice coming up the
next Segond. Well, there's some sound from bo Nix and
uh Sean Payton, But Zach Allen seems like the priority
of that group to me. And it's not to say
that Nick Bedito shouldn't be, because again it's edge Rusher
versus d Line. It's to say that I feel like
(18:01):
I have a pretty good beat on what Zach Allen
means to this team, what Zach Allen is going to be.
I still want to see more, even though I don't
want him going anywhere with Nick Benito, and I think
Nick Benito is a is a good franchise tag candidate
on the other side of this thing, if you absolutely
had to do it, and then Corln Siden is just
I don't even know what to do there.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Honestly, I think I want to keep him happy.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
I would see if some incentives for this one year
would make some sense for him, though he's got one
big contract in him that at that age, like, there's
no way my agent would be advising me not to
take it.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
So would he force his way out?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Like?
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Is he forced a trade?
Speaker 2 (18:36):
I mean maybe, you know, I don't know if he's
I don't know what force your way is the way
to do it.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
But I think you can come.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
To an agreement like, hey, look, if I'm not going
to be the guy and I'm not going.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
To earn the money here, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
You know I've I've suffered through the lean years here,
I've carried this team through the lean years. Here, It's
time you spiffed me back and then send me on
my way. Pittsburgh's been sniffing around. It'sburgh and New York,
the Jets, Okay, Pittsburgh is just trying to get done
with maybe Johnny Smith. Yeah, they're trying to get somebody
a little more dynamic than than Friarmouth in there as well.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Frying Pans.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Yeah, he's just kill it hands, He's just yeah. I
don't I don't think the Broncos can afford to pay
Courtland Sutton and keep it all together. It is possible
that I'm wrong there. I don't think that's the direction
they're going. I don't think they've wanted to commit to
him long term. I think they have the opportunity to
do it before the market increased. And you know, I
think he wants twenty five to twenty seven million a year,
(19:29):
and I don't think that they think that that he's that.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
Kind of player.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
And when you're looking at what the floor on Benito
and Zach Allen's going to be, which is that twenty
five number, I mean that that's you know, doesn't make
a lot of sense. So I guess the question for you,
and the question for Broncos fans if you could just
get Zach Allen Nick Benito done like I mean, whether
it's before camp, before the season, or just know those
two are done around twenty five million. But that means
(19:53):
you're gonna have to let go of Courland Sutton and JFM.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
How do you feel about that? It's nature of the business.
You know.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I love JFM what he does when he revised, but
you drafted Savion Jones to replace him. I love Courtland
Sutton what he's done, but you drafted the bomb Aley
and Pat Bryant to replace him. That's that's the nature
of the NFL. It's the nature of the business. That's
the nature of the beast. We have a lot of
experts on bacon and Canadian bacon. By the way, that
this is herbs. Isn't Herb's kid like the surfer girl?
(20:19):
What's her name, Lakey Peterson. Isn't herb Peterson's kid like
Lakey Peterson? I don't know. There's a lot of Peterson's.
I mean, it could just be the same.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Last name. I could, I could, I could.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
Be wrong on that is Anthony Edwards on TV. He
plays for the Minnesota Timber.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
And Anthony Edwards the actor. Clearly we're all the same,
you know, the brother They just share this the same name. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
No, I'm pretty sure I'm right on that. Okay, but
somebody's gonna look that up for me and tell me
I'm right or wrong.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Nothing to suggest the relate that I can find online,
Lady Peterson.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
I'm telling you the Lady Peterson. It's like her dad
or grandpa or something. So is this laky texting in
right now? Well, that's what I'm asking.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
I'm like, if this is the kid, like, is this
the surfing champion? This is listening to kaa sports because
if so, we'd love to have you on.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Nothing on either of their Wikipedia pages about them being related.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Okay, somebody says Ryan Groke is calling bs on Ben
Grooks's Canadian bacon. It's not some back with or hack
with Black Forest Ham.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Dude, you you grow Wikipedia again. Listen pulled it up here.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Hert Peterson is the grandfather professional surfer Laky Peterson.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
It's literally the last thing on that page. I'm not
a surfer. I run a subway Chaine. It's so good.
Contextually that's so good. It's even better, so good, And again,
who would know better? Who would know better? You know what?
It's a difference between Ham and Canadian made a die
on this hill with all those l's all right, we'll
(21:56):
come back.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
We're gonna get to some insights from yesterday's practice.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Benjamin all right, Ryan Edward, Zach Seekers hanging out.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
On a Friday on Kawa. We have a special guest,
Benny Fowler.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
What's up? Studio up, Betty. He heard you.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Crying about the Ryan get together thing, and he said
we need more Ben Benny action in here, so here
we go.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Yeah. And we got the black T shirt.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, we got the MEI Mom, we're reading each other's
minds right here.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
I I am happy that you guys are happy. People
often mistake me for Benny Fowler. It's a physique, Kid's
definitely not the amount of hair, though.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Ben. I'm just happy to have as to the quick,
I'm just happy to have a bed in here that
went to practice yesterday.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Practice.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
I had to go get breaks on my car. No,
that's that's really act as I was driving to practice.
Oh wow, allegedly allegedly driving to well, I'm glad for that.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I'm glad you the camera, did you really? Why did
you say yeah? Because I'm annoyed by it. Upset Still,
I'm still.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Can anybody tell me why we got Kenny pickets stats
on this computer screen right here? That's a good question, Ben,
did you look up Knty Picketts. It's not been on
that computer. That would be Zach seekers over there. Oh,
Zach was looking at Kinny Pickett.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
I was on NFL dot com, man, I was. I
was doing research for whatever we were talking about. Uh late,
what did that have to do with Kenny Picket?
Speaker 1 (23:30):
I can't remember right now. Okay, two passing TDS one it.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Listen, I'll just saying this one time, Zach, just be
careful what you google on these computers.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
These are computers.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Any picket will get you flagged. That's why I always
log in as Ryan Edwards, so I never had to work.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
To be really careful.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
You know, you all of a sudden like Hr is like, hey, Zach,
you know we got six searches for Kenny Pickett. But
what's going on with you a little worried about it?
Speaker 1 (23:59):
So just so do you want to ask you?
Speaker 2 (24:01):
We were talking about this a moment ago, the pole
question I put up at Ooredge Radio. If you could
have one, this is a projection, just a preference one
or the other. One hundred receptions or ten touchdowns for
Evan Ingram this year?
Speaker 1 (24:13):
What would you choose?
Speaker 2 (24:14):
I take a hundred receptions all day. Evan Ingram has
one hundred receptions for the Broncos next year. That means
he's moving the chains a lot. That means there's a
high volume of connectivity with him and Bow And let's
think about it. You said we haven't had it since
Damarus Thomas. I don't think people know what a hundred
receptions actually looks like. That means somebody's dominating, and that
means the defense can't do anything to stop it. And
(24:35):
that also means that the connection between Evan and bo
is incredible. So I would take a hundred receptions all day.
Ten touchdowns, Yeah, that could be great. I think Courtland
had ten touchdowns what two seasons ago. That doesn't necessarily
mean that we're winning more games, So good point. I
take one hundred.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
That point. Every ingram has had a hundred receptions before. Yeah.
And the Jacksonville Jaguars went nine to eight. Yeah, but
they're not. Their roster's not as good as us. There
it is. We're pretty good. We're taking Bow over Trevor
Lawrence for sure?
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Are we thought? We are? Absolutely are? When we're taking
Sean Payton over Peterson for sure?
Speaker 1 (25:16):
They both have the same amount of Super Bowls.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Oh my god, man, you're just this Canadian bacon thing.
You lost sour about it all weekend only. I'm gonna
sit at home, locked in my in my my place,
brewial the lights off, just furious.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Come back. Your face is gonna be like stuck in
the scowl. That was wrong. Good Canadian bacon and Pam,
you don't draw it on your wall like Canadian vacant
not have like a hundred times written on the wall.
Ark said, exactly.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
But I mean, but I'm just saying, I hear what
you're saying, and there's something to be said about the
offense having continuity. But at the same time, points and
points and and ten touchdowns is the equivalent of twenty
field goals and some change.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Uh, Will Watson's get workout? If we're not putting that
thing in the end zone.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
I don't just because we you know, every Ingram doesn't
have ten touchdowns doesn't mean we're not putting the end zone.
But you know we're spreading around to Courtland Sutton. You've
got Vele in the middle, and then you got Evan
as well, and you got r. J.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Harvey.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I mean, there's just so many different weapons that you
can actually use in the red zone. So that's kind
of how I'm seeing it. But one hundred catches gets
you down to the red zone more. I'm just saying
he had those hundred catches. Nobody on that team had
eight touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Was the top.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
It was the top with Calvin Ridley, Ingram had four,
Christian Kirk had three, and everybody else had like two
or one.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
They didn't.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
They had twenty two receiving touchdowns despite Ingram's one hundred
reception season. Well, we're gonna actually blame that on Doug
Peterson and Trevor Lawrence not you know, like we can Okay,
that's where we're gonna go with that. They didn't hate
on Sunshine. But to his point, like we've seen Cortland Sutton,
he had ten touchdowns. He had eight touchdowns this last year, right,
I mean eighty one catches. That it's a good season. Right,
(26:50):
It's a great season for Courland Sutton and made the playoffs. Yeah,
that's right. His productivity is only going to increase the
result of Evan Ingram all that attention, right, There's enough
passes to go around in that respect. So and again,
I think for Evan Ingram, if you're going to use
the Jacksonville season as reference, those were a lot of
those short passes, you expected him to sort of get
(27:12):
a lot of yak as a results, And I think,
do well, leave man, what is it just I'm trying
to motivate it at Ingram. I'm chuck full of self important.
So you have a smile, Just take around town, take
a breath here, Ben and I'll take over here. Also,
one of those games with C. J. Bethar did not
Trevor Lawrence. So to be fair, what did you notice
for practice yesterday? What's sit out? I think what's stood
(27:34):
out the most is, you know, you and I were
talking off air, is the continuity in terms of offense
getting in and out of the huddle. And now I
know that's something small and something you know, people won't
put a lot of attention on, but getting in and
out of the huddle is one of the most important things.
And that's what OTA is for, is the continuity coming back.
I think it's bows, you know, first time he's had
a play caller, you know, two years in a row.
(27:57):
Sean hasn't had a signal caller, you know since what
twenty nineteen, since I played for the Saints in twenty
twenty when Drew you know, bringing Drew Brees back. So
that's what I saw and that's what I'm impressed with. Also,
you know, I'm always looking at the receiver, so Vlea
really stands out in terms of his size, his strength.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
He caught a nice little slant out of the slot.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
I think he will have he will continue to build
off of last year when he had forty three catches
last year. So I see Velay making even more improvements
and more strides. Troy Franklin, he looked explosive. You know,
I was like, who is number eleven? Because he I
forgot that he changed numbers, So he looked explosive. But
then R J Harvey quads, I mean, yeah, it was.
(28:40):
It's different in person when you see him, even in
the walkthrough of just some of the little shifts that
he was making.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
He's he's a quick guy.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
But at the end of the day, I'm also just
really excited about the fact that we don't have to
worry about the quarterback. And it's different when you go
to a practice, you come into an off season when
you know that the quarterback position is solidified. So I
was really excited about that, and just even Bo telling
(29:09):
a couple of people where to go. That's big, that's huge,
And Sean Payton talked about that. Bo talked about that.
You know, he was worried about what the offense was
doing last year at this time. Now he's thinking about
the defense and where to go with the Reeds, how
to check in and out of plays.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
That's exciting.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
And then I talked to Evan after practice just for
a little bit, and you know, he's talking about the
Lucy Route, which is the option routes that he'll be running.
He's going to be running some corner routes. He's going
to be running some drag routes. He might be in
the backfield a little bit. That's going to be exciting
to see. So, you know, you got your big Joker
and Evan, you got your mini Joker and Mems. I mean,
I think I think this offense will be better for
(29:47):
the continuity.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
The question is the probably the end game productivity.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
You know, I mean part of that schedule, part of
that's you know, people getting tape on your quarterback and
you know and all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
So I think there are questions there.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
I think this team is going to better, and that
might not be reflected in the record. Yeah, I and
I agree with you because they do have a tough
schedule and they got to get they gotta have to
get off to a great start. They got to start
three and oh before they get to Philly and Cincy.
You got to be you got to start three and oh.
And also, yeah, they are going to have tape on bow.
But I think this is where Sean and him having
(30:18):
Bow and really liking Bo coming into this year, we'll
be able to design more things. I think more quarterback
run as long as Bo is healthy, will actually help
BO this year. Having quarterback run r J. Harvey along
with the RPOs with Ingram and Vle in the slot,
Courtland on the outside mimes, Sean will be able to
design some good things. I mean he won some games
(30:40):
with Teddy Bridgewater and take some Hill a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
And so he knows how to design some things. So
we'll see.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
We will have to see the creativity this year and
who Sean Payton really is supposed to be big fowler.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
And studio with us. We'll come back.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
I do want to ask you about DT and going
into the ring fame. We'll get to that when we
come back, all right, Ryan, the Wward's big followers studio
of us for a few more minutes, so we run
the day off. I know I went back. Yeah, people
get days off. I don't know he's got stuff going on,
but it'll.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Be back goes a Monday, very much looking forward to that. Benny.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
I know we get you only for a couple more minutes.
Hopefully get you back in studio coming up here very soon.
I want to ask HI about DT man. What cool
thing this week to find out he's going to be
inducted to the Ring of Fame. Of course you were
a teammate of his, or what are some thoughts about
DT and obviously what he meant to this team. Yeah,
DT was incredible, not only what he meant to the team,
but what he meant to this city in this organization.
(31:34):
When you think about somebody, when you think about drafting
a first round pick and the impact that you want
them to have on the team in the city, you
think about a guy and you look back at it.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
I like Damarius Thomas in.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
His career, incredible player, somebody who made an impact on
the game, and you knew he was out there every
game because of his physicality, the way he ran routes,
the run after catch. But they'd also remember the smile,
and then you remember the boys and girls. You remember
him dressing up as Santa Claus for different occasions for kids,
and all the things that he did to give back.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
That's what I remember the most.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
And I was close with DT and I followed him
around for four years because Number one. I was an
undrafted free agent. I was a bigger body receiver. But
I want to know how he moved like that. My
best friend, one of my best friends at Michigan State
AJ Troop, we used to watch his highlight tabe in
college and now we become teammates. I followed him every
day for four years. I mean, if you guys were
in that locker room at that time, my locker was
(32:31):
two down from his, and I was always talking with
him about certain things. We enjoyed the basketball banter back
and forth in the locker room. And you know, I
was one of the Paul Bears at his funeral, and
you know that his mom called me about that, and yeah,
it's a tough moment. And we'll be celebrating him, you know,
with the ten year reunion of the of the Super
(32:53):
Bowl team, And although that will be a bright moment
for all of us, it will still be a little
dim because he will not be there. There was a
movie going on Twitter right now, people that are donating
eighty eight cents to Boys and Girls clubes. Everybody do
a micro donations eighty eight cents and honor of DT.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
So if you guys want to get involved in that.
That's something that's going around. That's cool, that's incredible, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Yeah, I mean certainly I described it to Dave Logan
when we got the news that you know, he's sort
of a heartbeat guy not only of the team, but
he really of the fan base and every single person.
I mean, because so many great highlights what he did
on the field, but everybody starts with him as a
person like that, and I think that really kind of
resonates a little bit of the impact, the lasting impact
that he's had on this community and the fan base. Yeah,
(33:32):
he was just such a strong guy. The way he
carried the ball, the way he carried even some of
the tough times in his career, you know, people talking
about drops and this and that, and the way he
would respond to certain things, and the way he would
come out and then dominate a game. I mean, one
of my favorite games that I watched is my rookie year,
would be the game against the Cardinals, and that just
(33:53):
showed how dominating he was.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
And then yeah, between twenty.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Twelve when Peyton got here too, and fifteen, you could
argue that he was the best receiver in the league.
You could argue that in terms of walking into the
building fifteen hundred yards, double digit touchdowns, and then five
straight Pro Bowls. So, you know, just an incredible person
player and somebody that I miss a lot. I just
missed conversations with him, you know, are my last year
(34:19):
in Denver in twenty seventeen, his birthdays on Christmas and
he came over to my house and we celebrated his
birthday at my place. And then twenty twenty, we don't
know if we're all playing and him and Emmanu will
come over to my house, which is kind of funny
to think about the two veterans and guys I looked
up to coming over to my place. But you know,
that's the type of relationship we had. And I appreciate,
you know, those guys so much. And I really appreciate DT.
(34:41):
You know, he really taught me how to be a pro.
And I stuck in the league so long because I
was disciplined, and he taught me the game from a
receiver standpoint, how to get open and you know, how
do you set certain picks without getting called. These are
all the little things that helped us become a great
team and winn a Super Bowl that year. But you
really have to appreciate and we've referenced this before, getting
on the same page of Peyton Manning is not for everybody, right,
(35:04):
Cody Latimer, It is not something and again I liked
Cody plenty. Is just not every receiver can do that.
And you can speak to that. I mean you certainly
you played on that Super Bowl team. You played with
Peyton Manning. He was an exacting person. The way he
and the expectations he had for everybody around him, not
just the receivers, everybody, the offensive line, everybody was very precise.
(35:27):
But DT like embraced it from day one. And you're
considering a guy coming off of the Tim Tebow era,
where it was just hey, do whatever you gotta do
out there. You're probably gonna be blocking more than're gonna
be receiving anyways, and now you go shift all the
way over to the Peyton Manning offense.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
I mean that doesn't get talked about enough. Yeah, it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
I mean DT, Yeah, he became a really polished route
runner the Peyton Manning years and you really.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Got to see his talent.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
I equate it to what we got a chance to
see with saquon this year with Philadelphia, It's like, oh,
SURROUNDO wasn't really good talent.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
It was like, oh, there he is.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
And then you know, I know DT was got off
to a little bit of a rough start here in
his Broncos career. But then people, really, guys, chance to
see the first round receiver that was drafted out of
Georgia Tech and all the ability that he had, and
you talk about somebody dominating games and really just understanding
the game and what he was able to do. I mean,
you know, double team people hanging on him whatever may be.
(36:20):
The one handed catches. It was just incredible to see
and witness and even in practice some of the things
that I saw were it's like, Okay, it doesn't matter
how much I lift or run, I won't be able
to do that. Well, hey man, this went too fast.
I know you got to run because you have some
stuff to do. Definitely want to get you back in
because we got to talk about Pat Bryan. We were
talking about their to break. You have some really cool
thoughts on him. And then of course you gotta talk
(36:40):
about your guys, Draymond being overrated. Oh Ben, can you
believe what this guy say?
Speaker 1 (36:46):
He said?
Speaker 2 (36:46):
He said overrated. He's got to be the most overrated
Hall of Famer shlu dort fan, though I don't understand it.
I just overrated Hall of Fame going the same thing.
I don't Hey, yeah, and what I talk about is,
you know, Yelkich is the best player in the league.
But like, are we gonna do any finals appearances anytime soon?
Or is it that we just have the one?
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Oh boy, I think.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
I think y'all leave right now. Oh wow, that's cold.
I mean we're given they're given Anthony Erwards a lot
of heat right now. But yoak Ha scored what twenty
points in Game seven? He got pulled early? Is it?
I mean? To be fair, the whole team didn't really
in Game seven, didn't really show to be fair, it's
always great. Uh, you're doing a famidous job with d
(37:29):
n v R. Love your stuff, Love what you guys
do over there, and appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
Swaking by man, Hey, thanks for having me. You're right
back here on k
