And he's actually going to mandatory mini camp next week,

for a second, what do you think about that, Dave?
I mean, does that elevate the Pittsburgh Steelers. They're a
team that is always over five hundred anyways, like they're
always kind of in the mix.

They just losing the playoffs. So how much does this
elevate them? I guess I want I'm asking him.

Yeah, a lot to me, So.

I probably have a higher regard for Aaron Rodgers than
some fair ryan, but I think he's a guy that
I mean, They're always going to be pretty good on defense.
They've got to have a much much better running game,
but I think Aaron Rodgers when you look at who's

played quarterback for them since Ben Roethlisberger retired, Aaron Rodgers,
in my mind, is without a doubt, a significant upgrade
even at whatever he is, forty one, I think something
like that.

Think I'm The key thing for me is to see
how Arthur Smith uses him, how well Arthur Smith over
his time as an offensive coordinator and a head coach
with the Falcons, he's the guy that likes two from
time to time get his quarterback involved in the running game.

So that part of his offense, which he's really been
pretty creative with, is going to have to change, and
he obviously he can.

I think this makes the NFL just a better package altogether,

puncher's chance to beat Oak City in a seven game series.

I think maybe you do is so to me.

Here's here's why Aaron Rodgers makes them better. I believe
even if they win ten games healthy Aaron Rodgers and
they go to the postseason has a better chance of
winning a postseason game than they have with Russell Wilson
than they have with Mason Rudolph and Will Howard. So,
in my opinion, if I could step in here, please,

Aaron Rodgers does make them better. If he stays healthy,
they could win a playoff game if they make it
this year last I think they could be with that defense,
and I don't even know where they ranked. I just
consider them to be an above average defense. Maybe statistically
that that would not bear out. And I think I

think auditioned by subtraction with George Pickens. Right, so, you've
got you've got DJ who they acquired, you get rid
of your running back, the kid that went to the Chargers,
Nagierra's Najie Harris, And I thought I thought Jalen Warren
was a better back anyway. They had a La Johnson Well,

the kid from Iowa. Right, So, I mean, I I
don't know. I don't know if they're gonna win the
win the North. And I'm a big Mike Tomlin. Yeah
I am too, So I think they'll be I think
they'll be better. I think it'll be interesting to see
how he fits in. Seriously, Pittsburgh is a football town,
is not an Iowash.

Yes, so true David not and and I don't see
him as a Mike Tomlin type. Dude, he's close to Tomlin.

I think they've got a good relationship, at least they've
talked about it in the past. If Tomlin gets him, uh,
that could make things way different than it was in
New York last year because that coach didn't get him.

By the way, their first game is against the Jets. Oh,

I want to say it's at New York Hold and
I'll tell you. But yeah, he's his first His first
game of the season is going to be Yeah, it's

I think that for Justin Fields too, that's a big
who was also really yeah obviously swapped there.

Yep, Well, you know I say this, and I do
want to talk about the Broncos in practice secause there's
some cool stuff to learn. I'd say for Aaron Rodgers,
the processes might be better, but he took forty sacks
last year. He still he is great, but he looked
like the steps back were starting to happen, at least

from my view. With Aaron Rodgers, there were some highlight moments,
especially with him and DeVante Adams and Garrett Wilson. But
the expectation to be able to just suddenly carry that
over into this year in his twenty first season, his
forty first year. It's just it's expecting a lot. The
reason I said that about Mason Rudolph and Will Howard
is because Mike Tomlin teams have shown the ability to

just win no matter who they kind of plug in.
They're not saying they weren't great with Ben Roethlisberger. They
were amazing with Ben Roethlisberger. But they've always had a
good defense, they've always had a good running game, and
with those kinds.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Of didn't have it. Didn't have it last year at
one of the worst running games in the league, and they.

Speaker 4 (15:11):
Still got tim wins. I'm just saying, like they are
so well coached. I believe more in that system, in
that staff than almost anything.

I think this shows you the desperation a little bit
of Mike Tomlin pressure he's under. You can say, yeah,
they've been good in the regular season. No, they've never
had a sub five hundred record, But the fact of
it is, I think since twenty sixteen they've won one
postseason game, and they've been in the postseason a bunch

of times.

You can't win.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
It's hard enough to win in the regular season, but
it's easier to win in the regular season with the
pedestrian quarterback than it is trying to win a postseason game.
That's when quarterbacks really make their money. So I don't
see the drop off as significant as Ryan does with
respect Aaron Rodgers, and I just look at arm talent.

Some of the throws I thought he made some you know,
he tried to fit the ball in a few times
last year where it's like, wow, you know, probably shouldn't
have made that throw. But I think he'll be a
significant upgrade at that position. He didn't look good early
in the season. He didn't look good when we played
him in New York. But he played better on the

tail end of the season. And when you look at
his staffs for the year, in a better year than
his last year with the Packers, he had more yards passing,
more touchdowns, less interceptions.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
And I mean there was all due respect Rick, they
had no pressure on them whatsoever, Like the Jets were
playing for nothing.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
They had no there are no expectations, and I'm not saying.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
That you think that would help him acquire stats.

I'm just saying that they weren't playing with the Do
you think.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
That would help him better? For him, that is a
good question.

I'm saying that when when you're playing without the added hey,
we need to win this game because it matters.

Do you think that would help him acquire stats? Yeah? Okay, Well,
then once again we have found yet another difference between
us in terms of how we how we look.

I I mean maybe maybe from the team standpoint because
they sucked, but the reality of it is, you really don't.
You don't realize how bad you suck until like the
last probably third of the season, and then guys are
playing for their jobs.

So I don't I don't think it will. I mean,
I don't look at.

His stats, which I didn't even wasn't aware what they were,
as sort of meaningless stats. Now, if you're if you're
behind in a game and you're you know, you're getting
yardage against prevent defenses, than that at times can be
I mean, those can be meaningless stats.

But I don't.

I don't know that the Jets got blown out. I
mean they got blown out at Buffalo because I watched
that game. But I think there were some games that
they were very much in and they just found ways
to lose, like the Broncos for instance.

Yeah, and they lost to the Rams nineteen to nine.
Like there's a couple of games in over. Yeah, thirty two,
twenty six and overtime to Miami. But then the last
game of the year they won thirty two to twenty
and he put up monster numbers in the last game.
But Miami was playing for nothing. They were playing for nothing.
That's kind of my points is that there just wasn't
a lot of incentive at that point.

I just have been the case. Miami sucked worse than
the Jets.

He could have been.

Yeah, he threw two interceptions, no touchdowns versus Buffalo the
second to last week of the season.

So was that the forty something to little Yeah, they
were awful. They were awful. He was awful.

Steelers have a better roster. I think, better coach, better
coaching staff.

Doesn't have better weapons though not necessarily, Yeah, because Garrel
Wilson and Vante Adams is pretty elite. Yea DK Metcalf
me I like like DK Metcalf, Pat Fryar moveth They're
trying to get John who Smith.

That'd be kind of interesting. The other tied end, Yeah,
that'd be kind of interesting. There was the other receiver.
Now the Pickens is gone, who who will be the
other receiver? As we talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers way
too long, I can't think of who that other receiver is.

Yeah, I'm trying. I remember them they were going to
acquire somebody. I'm trying to remember who ended up being.
I know they have Roman Wilson there. Who's a draft
pick from last year, Calvin Austin, Robert Woods I think
went there. I don't know if they have another guy

It'll be better than the running game without Najee Harris
and with Jalen Warren and the kid from Iowa, and.

The better the defense will keep him in a lot
of games as well. Oh yeah, no doubt about it.

the Broncos. I know it's early in the process, but
any similarities you see, uh, from what you experienced defensively
in San Francisco to what Van Joseph and the defense
the coaches like to run here.

Yeah, you know, at the end of the day, I
think it's just a style of play, you know. I
think the aggressiveness is very similar. I'm glad that I
just got to be a part of a great team
in San fran but I'm really really excited to be
a part of a great team this year with the Broncos.
I think just all around your super point seven. He's
the guys you have to keep the player of the
year coming off a great feasing that he had. Of course,

for me, it's just how can I add to him?
How can I humble myself in this this role and
come in here and earn the respect to go out
there and make plays with my guys.

Well, he's you know, he's the guy that just goes
out there and works very hard.

you know, his arm is just incredible. The decision making.
You know, of course, I want to get into such
an every time I go out there. That's my goal.
And I'm trying to make it hard on him because
when you're going against some good defenses this year, you know,
we want to make sure he's prepared and go out
there and be successful. So great, great guy first and
foremost and the guy that you want to leave this

team so very reade the right decision for sure.

For the defense as you've kind of been assimilated into it, now,
what are some of the things that you think this
defense is going to be known for, Like for last
year we talked about how it was going to be
an attacking or downhill defense or see you seeing some
of the same things.

Almost definitely.

You can just see with the numbers that they played
last year I think the league of sap and so
for me it was just that's just downhill first. But
I think we want to be a team that take
the ball away, you know. I think that's something that

through injuries, and some of us are more fortunate than others.

of injuries. I think Bronco fans would like to know
how how are you feeling physically and where are you
in terms of being ready for camp coming up here
in a month and a half or so.

Well on percent, you know, I think a great addition
of me coming in here is the fact that the
Broncos lead the league and their training staff. You know,
the amount of injuries they had these last couple of years,
They've really turned things around. Sean Payte uh just coming
here and he made his presence known of like what
things that they strive for, and the training staff has
done a great job. And so for me just coming

in and just seeing how they they buy into their players.
They make sure that everybody's accounted for and if they
want to make sure everybody's going out there feel one
hundred percent. So I'm very blessed man, and I can't
wait for training camp. Still got to go through this
mandatory mini camp. But when training camp hits and the
season starts, man, I'm ready to roll.

This is not a football question, but I know Broncos
fans would like to get to know you a little
bit better. You grew up on a farm, and my
partner Dave Logan, and I are taking them out buying
a farm. What animals would you recommend? Like goats, cows, chickens,
or pigs.

I said cows first off, and then goats second. Interesting
story about me and myself growing up on the farm.
