Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave Logan, Ryan Edwards the Rockies winning in a walk
off eight to seven over the San Francisco Giants.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
So we got so excited with the Rockies come from
behind win after trailing seven to two. We started ripping
things apart here in the studio and damn sorry, and
there it is now figured out how to get on
the air. What a great win for them, oh man?
And that's what a weird season.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
I don't know. Thinking about the season, I'm thinking they're
one to o. They're on a heater. They are a heater.
That's right.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Thirteen seven wins now at home, thirteen wins on the
season in the last nine.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
I'm looking for like positives. I see where we're going.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
You know, not many years has the statement they are
four and five in the last nine been positive, But
a damn sure is this year? Yeah, they've won one
in a row and then and they're four and five
in the last nine. But it was I mean, seriously,
it was a pretty cool win. I mean, down seven
to two to the Giants, about to get swept and

(01:03):
you find a way to battle back and win in
the ninth.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I mean, and so improbable in so many ways, right,
I mean you're thinking of in the ninth inning, you
get out, Jordan Beck almost goes yard, but it ends
up being and out, and then you end up loading
the bases. And there's been so many examples here of
the Rockies loading the bases and things still not going well.
I mean, they've had a couple losses this year where
they've put themselves in a position to go ahead and

(01:29):
still lose. But this is what it sounded like a
little bit ago with Jack Corgan two to.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Two, pitch outside ball three from O two to a
full count, with the bases loaded, the Rockies down a run,
people on their feet, Rodriguez ready the three to two
line drive, let field base hit here, Corumas mc man, he'll.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Score ball game.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
The Rockies due to the Giants.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
What happened in.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
The last two games, what a clutch too, out of
hit for Orlando Arcia.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Final score Rockies eight, Giants seven.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
I feel I feel good for I feel good for Jack. Yes,
how are you too?

Speaker 1 (02:23):
And then that I mean again you you've been a
part of calling seasons for the Broncos when things aren't
going well, and it just feels, yes, I have these
go bad and they'll continue to go bad, and you
just expect it at that point, don't you.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
I mean, listen, it's uh, it's obviously it's a lot
more fun to call again.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I mean, it's cool to be.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Able to broadcast professional sports anyway, but in all honesty,
it's a lot more fun to broadcast when the team
is doing well. You spend a lot of time with
the team, you travel with the team, and your life
is just a little bit better when team is playing well.
So and then it also, I mean there's a there's
a professional obligation, I think, to try to steal even

(03:08):
when the team is not playing well. You've got to say, hey,
they're not playing well. But you also have to make
it as entertaining as you possibly can to the people
that are sitting at home that literally figuratively die with
every single game in this case with the Rockies or
every week's game with the Broncos. First season I started
broadcasting the Broncos, they the year before I started, they

(03:32):
were in the Super Bowl. That didn't end well. The
next year, my first year, they were five and eleven.
That was not all that good, you know, it just
it just wasn't. It was like, well, damn, what happened.
I thought I'd jump in here and maybe get back.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
To the super Bowl. But yeah, so I.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Feel good for Jack and Jerry and feel good for
the Rockies.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
It's okay even though things haven't gone very.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Well, it's okay to celebrate victory.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
And they got one today. Well that's and that's it, right.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I mean, I saw comments on Twitter like, ah, boy,
it means nothing, thirteen.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Hey, you take wins.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
You saw those guys celebrating there on the field. It
means something to them. They're still playing hard. And you
know I were talking to right before the show came
on the air, the Rockies.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
They desperately do not want to be the worst team
in baseball history like that.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
They wouldn't think so. I mean, but that's like they care.
Like there's this.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Perception I've I've seen no evidence that the players that
the players don't care.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
The players care, I would say the organization, even if
they they didn't think it was going to be this bad,
they don't. They're bringing Orlando Arcia for a reason, Right,
you don't sign Orlando Arcia, who was an All Star
at one point there with the Braves. You don't bring
him in if your anticipation is just to continue to
be a bad team. You're bringing him in because you

(04:55):
want to give some pop to your team.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Nobody likes, nobody likes get embarrassed, yes, right, professional athletes
for certain. And I've said this before. I've spoke to
mainly NFL guys, but I would have to think the
same for Major League Baseball guys. They're prideful, right, And
if you I mean this kind of year, you're hearing

(05:18):
it from everybody. You're probably hearing it from neighbors, the
guy that delivers the mail. It's like, what is going
on with you guys? So again, it doesn't it doesn't
erase what has gone on so far, but it does
give them the ability to at least, you know, have
a nice dinner and celebrate a little bit and feel

(05:40):
good about it, at least for twenty.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Four hours on their flights to Atlanta.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Was going to be a tough series over the weekend,
So a couple one last thing on this, I'll put
it like this. I do think for the Rockies, as
bad as this season has gone, there are certainly things
to be happy about. And again, I know that that's
sort of tough, but I liked the fight here. I
like what Jack said there too, because in the last two games,

(06:06):
specifically two games ago the beginning of this series, they
absolutely should have won that game, like they had no
business really losing the game, especially giving up four runs
in the ninth inning.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I mean, that is a heartbreaker. Happens to baseball.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
You're gona play one hundred sixty two games, that sort
of thing is going to happen. But this team, it
happens a lot too, So they should have won that game.
Last night's game, they were up as absolutely brutal, and
I mean it just got away from him.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
But they had.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Opportunities, and in this one they they got the two
runs and then a fourth inning made it a four
to two game. Give a three run homer in the
fair in the top of the fifth, yep. And that
was and I heard them say it on the broadcast.
It was perfectly diagrammed. That's been the season. Just when
you think you're going to start to cut into a lead,

(06:52):
or you're gonna put yourself in position to maybe to
fight back, something bad happens. And you wouldn't blame the
rock He's players specifically in this case, for feeling like
here we go again all the time, because this is
just what the season has been.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
No matter what you feel good about, something bad is
about to happen. And here it is.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
They're down seven to two in a game where nothing
is going right, and they battle back and win. A
seven is pretty cool stuff, all right. So we're on
until six o'clock tonight. We'll have things out to Broncos
Country tonight. We have a lot of stuff to react
to from the Broncos today, their final day of mandatory
mini camp.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
But for a moment, I did want to give you
your kudos for going Tuto last night. I'm trying to
climb back in the race, trying to climb back in it.
You faded me, and that proved to be a very
smart way. It's proven over the years how long we
worked together. I think they're third years, Is that? Is it?

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Seriously? Yeah? So third year doing the show? Really? Yeah? Man,
I'm flies when you're having fun. I was hoping you'd
say that, yes.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
No, but I uh, I was just trying to I mean,
I listen, I've been so so far I'm wrong. I'm
going to be right by the end of this series.
I still believe that. But Indiana has played better than
I thought they would. I did pick them last night,
but I picked them plus five and a half, and
now they've got a two to one lead and Oklahoma

(08:19):
Statey's still the favorite in this series. And I still
think the Thunder will find a way to win this
series because I think they're a better team. But I
have to admit I was wrong in terms of how
Indiana has been able to kind of hang in there.
The Thunder's biggest issue thus far is given up a
fifteen point lead in Game one in the fourth quarter
at home, and Indiana with Tyrese Haliburton, hits a shot

(08:43):
with pointy three seconds to go. They're only lead of
the game, and they win Game one, because I mean,
the Thunder should have had to. You knew they would
win Game one had that happened. Even with Indiana's effort
last night, the Thunder still would have a two games
to one lead, all right.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
They don't, and so they've.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Got to find a way to win tomorrow night, which
I think is capable. But I have been impressed by
Indiana's teamwork and they are playing hard, They're matching the
intensity level of the Thunder, and they've got They've got
a group of guys that are not afraid to cast it.

(09:24):
I mean, they've got who's the guy coming off the
bench that I didn't even know about?

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Ben?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Thank you? I mean, I'm an NBA guy, I love
the NBA. Of've broadcast NBA games, But this guy started
the series and I'm.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Like, who is this guy?

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Twenty seven points in twenty minutes, couldn't miss at one
point he was nine to eleven, he finished nine, twelfth,
he's pulling up, you know, off the dribble from seventeen cash,
catch and shoot from three cash. I'm thinking, where's this
guy been? But I guess he's had injuries. And I
mean they were saying, like night in the telecast that

(10:01):
when he's healthy.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Now, I don't know if he's.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
Better than Tyree's Halliburton, but he's he's as good as
player as they have.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
So what an addition to this series?

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Well, and again you see what having that kind of depth.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
I mean, I'll give Indiana credit.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Man, they are scrappy team, and we talked about it
before the show started with there's just something about their
mentality as a team. And I think again, it sort
of does start with Tyree's Halliburn and Pascal Siakam.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
But they're not a team of superstars like in the.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Traditional sense of what we usually see this time of
year in the NBA Finals. You usually see in Lebron
James and Kyrie Irving. You're seeing the big three there
with Golden State, you know, the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
With their star power. There's not a star power with Indiana.
They're just scrappy.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
They they're playing as though nobody believes in them. They've
been They've been running that banner out there now for
quite a while.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
In fact, if I am the Pacers and seeing that
the OKAC is still favored to win this series today
and a significant favorite se twenty, yes, if I have
seen that. If I'm Indiana, I am running that out there. Guys.
We had a big win last night and they still
don't believe in us.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
I think the guy they have coaching him has sort
of flown under the radar by most NBA standards in
terms of you look at coaches and he's not a
high profile guy. I mean, you think back Rick Carlisle
was the coach when the Mavericks beat the Heat and
nobody saw.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
That one coming. Yeah, I like Rick Carlisle's He's done
a hell of a job.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
I would say right now he is out coached Mark Dagnall. Yes,
And because I think Oklahoma City is a more talented team.
And yet Indiana has done a really nice job in
their spacing, in their motion offense. I thought they played
and Shay last night really well, picked him up a

(12:02):
little bit further out and tried to tried to be
physical with him. And if Oklahoma City, I think, and
this sort of plays to Indiana's strength, but I think
Oak City's got to get out and run a little
bit more. Right, Indiana has done a nice job of
pushing the pace that I thought they wore down the

(12:24):
Thunder a little bit. And also, you don't want to
play if you don't have to. You don't want to
play all the time against against Oak City's half court defense, right,
and Indiana has done a nice job with that. So competitive series,
I still think Oklahoma City is going to win. If
I had to bet my own money, I would I

(12:46):
take Oak City. But Oklahoma City is going to have
to win at least one game in Indiana.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
They're gonna have to win this one, probably end up tomorrow.
I rof and rolling here on a Thursday. We'll come
back with some of the latest from Broncos Mandatory Mini
up the final day, some Sean Payton fun, Sean Payton sound.
We'll get to it next, playing things off the Broncos
country tonight. We'll be back tomorrow, of course at three

(13:12):
o'clock for our shows. We walked up to Rockies and
Braves good win for the Rockies this afternoon on a
walk off over the San Francisco Giants eight to seven.
Today was also the final day of Mandatory Mini Camp.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Salt not sugar, A little bit of both though, it's
a little bit of both. Yeah, it kind of like
a caramel peanut roll.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Oh that's good stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
You like salted carmel? Yeah, I love salta carmel. Yeah,
big big fan.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
What was what was that? What was that brand? Like
Rollo or.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
What was the It was a brand of assaulted caramel
peanut roll.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Well, there's like pay day. It was okay, yeah, payday
with the peanuts on the outside. Yes, nothing wrong with
a good paid day. Hey, and the Broncos practice today.
It was a little bit of a paid It was
a little bit of a paiday. Yeah, it was I mean,
the pacing of it was relatively similar to the other
two practices, just much more condensed. They only did one

(14:15):
series out there of team that. He said, there's a
couple of nice things. Troy Franklin had a really nice
catch over the middle on a sort of a side
arm throw from Bonnicks, which is really cool. Kind of
a Bonix rolling out to the right and hit him
on hit him his stride. And then Caleb loaner Man
again trying not to get too far down the rabbit

(14:36):
hole on excitement about receivers in off season training and
mandatory mini camp.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
But I've really liked what I've seen from.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Gayal aletic and Goodses's nose, he's long, but he's tall
for sure to use a vance.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Joseph, he's tall, he's tall.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
What is he talking about, jackce Lynch, Yeah, he's talking
about Paxilin.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
He was accurate.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, he had an acrobatic diving catch down the right
sideline and that was from Stidham actually, and you know
yesterday he had a nice catchdown the scene. I mean,
there's just something about a six foot seven receiver, and
I can see why Sean Payton as far as a
project Goes was kind of into him. But you know what,
you know what I what I'd say that there's something

(15:20):
about a six foot seven receiver.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Not many of them, not Miniam make.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
It, no, No named the greatest six foot seven or
bigger receiver.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
That you can think of in the NFL. That was
a good player. Yeah, I mean, Jimmy Graham was not
six not six seven. Hell HeLa was.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Antonio Gates six four and a half six five, six'
five is about. It there's been one guy THAT i
can think, of and this is he was before. Me
But Harold carmichael was six, eight probably is still six.
Eight but not many receivers over six. Five there's JUST

(16:06):
i don't know, why but maybe maybe there's too much
body to.

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Hit but we'll. See we'll see About Caleb blower'll speak
of tight.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Ends AND i don't know IF i brought this up at,
all but when we've talked About Evan ingram and his
role on the, offense and he looks really good out.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
There does not work with the tight. Ends he works
with wide receivers just a. Little he looks just watching
him on tape at. Camp He.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
I'm not saying he's as fast as every wide. Receiver
i'm not saying that at, all but just in terms
of how he. Moves he's really, fluid you, know stops
and starts for a big, athlete a little quicker than.
MOST i think HE'S i think it's going to be
fascinating to see How John payton and other offensive coaches

(17:04):
sort of Fit Evan ingram into this.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Offense what set gonna look. Like i'm excited to see
it as.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Well but when they were doing individual drills before they
get to the team portion of practice or even the,
sevens he's out there with the, receivers the tight ends
and fullbacks are off doing their own. Thing he's not
working with. Them so just a little bit of an
observation of what that role might look. Like he's not
going to be out there if they're running twelve personnel
with two tight. ENDS i, mean everybody, blocks, right receivers

(17:32):
half the. Block everybody's got a. Block but that's not
his predominant.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
Role, no that's not why you brought him, Here that's
exactly that's not why you paid him whatever you paid. Him,
yes so he's he's got to be able to block
a little. Bit BUT i, mean if you discover guys.
UP i mean that that will keep you on the
field a, lot and that will that will stress a
defensive coordinator because if you've got a tight end that

(17:59):
just refuse to, block he's really when he's in the,
game especially when he's attached when he's an in line.
Player that's an issue with with the running. Game so
as long As Evan ingram gives you some sort of,
effort WHICH i think he, will he doesn't have to
be a dominating, blocker WHICH i don't think he. Will
but if you if he covers up defensive players in

(18:20):
an effort in terms of the run, game he'll be just.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Fine he'll be just. Fine you want to hear some
fun chan paynon. Not oh, Yeah I've i've sort of
sniffed this a little bit.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Earlier today soon fun for some fun for fun for
some fair Enough Devon vley was not a mandatory mini,
camp not one of the practices The broncos up to
this point and maintained no big. Deal they haven't told us,
why but they maintained it's no big. Deal so once,
again you, know it's the final day we're going to

(18:50):
ask About Devon. Vley Parker gabriel asked About Devon.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
Vley, no, no, no he's gonna be full go start
a training.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Camp everything's. Good we should. Be that's that's.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
It you hear, me that's what that's it.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Means that means it. Stops we should.

Speaker 5 (19:13):
Be there may be one, Player perry that might go
a week into training camp and then be ready depending
on how the summer. Goes but outside of, that we
we expect everyone.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Back and That's Chris, thomason who has had some moments
With sean in the. Past following, UP i, mean, Uh
i'll say. This chris sort of jumped in earlier the
follow up on which you're gonna have to follow up
because he, said, no if it's, fine he's gonna be
here full go training. Camp AND i understand from media,

(19:52):
Perspective you're, like, well can you give us more?

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Information and he said, no that's.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
IT i, said that's, It and As chris is trying to, continue.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Well One, Sean sean And chris have a, history, right
so it's it's kind of like sitting on one of
those little.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Little cat.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Die you get a little little little cac die right
in your seat when you sit down and you're, like,
oh so's just keep that in. Mind but so like
maybe if somebody else asked that question like a follow,
up he might have had a. Yeah And, chris you,
know AND i, LIKE i, like we Like. Chris chris
does a good. Job you, know he jumped in a little.

(20:35):
Early SO i don't, know, Man, uh it's All it's
humorous to me just at times to see the interaction you, Know,
Leggy Jeff legwall's out there.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
FROM, espn and you, know he's of all of, US.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
I think he if if he had to pick one
dude that was least likely to worry at all about
what he, asked it would Be. Jeff AND i say
that like as a sign of, respect BECAUSE i, Mean
Leggy's leggy's covered THE nfl FOR i don't, know thirty

(21:16):
years but probably. Longer he's he does his, homework WHICH
i appreciate that about. Him he's he's well, schooled he,
studies but he's going to ask, questions and even With,
sean And sean has the Ability Sean sean to, ME
i think at times can be sort of like when

(21:37):
you go to a rodeo and you, know you see these,
guys these young cowboys that are that are getting into the,
stall getting up on a, bull And i'm thinking when
that gate opens that that bull is going to try
to throw your ass fifteen feet in the. Air sean to,

(21:57):
me is a little bit like the. Bull at time
when he comes, out he sort of got a quarter horse.
Trot but other, times when when the shoot, opens it's
like he's a brahma, Ble he's a bull and he's
trying to get you off his. Back so it's one
of the reasons AGAIN i choose not to ask, questions

(22:18):
BUT i BUT i enjoy the banter back and, forth.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
And quite, literally as a, writer you don't know what
day is going to be the day for that.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
BULLY i, mean AND i don't think this is this
is just exclusive To Sean. PAYTON i THINK i THINK
nfl coaches AND i think organizations in general they want
to limit to an extent how many questions they have to.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Answer i'm going to answer these.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Questions i'm not going to get into you, know QUESTION
a and QUESTION. D i'm going to answer it the
WAY i want to, answer and THEN i don't WANT
i don't want any follow. Ups if you want to
follow up follow up on QUESTION b and see they
all want to as best they can control the. Narrative
it's just the way the league. Works and the really good,

(23:10):
reporters the really good beat, reporters or those who cover
the team in a regular, basis have found ways to
at least at. Times it doesn't happen all the, time
but at least at, times be, granted you, know a
four or five question opportunity to the head, coach maybe

(23:30):
away from everybody else, where you can actually get one
of your questions. Answered but in that whole big thing
when he does the press conference thing post, practice.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
You know, what it just sort of is what it.
Is that's how things. Go, yeah, well Then i'll credit.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
You you actually said something yesterday THAT i AFTER i
thought about, IT i agreed.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
With that's hard to. BELIEVE i, mean really three years
and that may be THE i think it's the second.
Time but, LISTEN i should feel good about.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
It, yeah you.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Said that most of the time for for the reporters out,
there they're just trying to ask a question and get,
information and they're not necessarily.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Trying to an.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Ambush, NOW i THINK i think there are some guys
and and and females as.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Well over the.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Years that that that that that was sort of their.
TACTICS i, mean there are some in our business that
deliberately asked questions trying to stir the pot and to
get a bite and and AND i think get a
reaction from the head coach or player that then he

(24:41):
or she can use on their particular show or. Whatever
i've never liked. THAT i just NEVER i understand, it
because you're you're trying to you, know pump your own
show up or your own. Brand you're trying to get
clicks if it's if it's. Online, OKAY i get. THAT
i just don't like. It BUT i think for the most,
part people are asking. Questions you want to ask questions

(25:04):
that you think your, audience whatever audience that, is would want.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
An answer to.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Agree and you, KNOW i THINK i think coaches in,
GENERAL nfl coaches in, general what it would be easier
for them if if they understood sort of, gosh this
is sort of how the process.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Works.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Right, Agreed this was a good answer here on what
he learns from non padded practices and during.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
OTAs so it's really.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Important is assignment? Alignment you know that can keep a
player from, playing does he we always talk about three
three ways you're being. Evaluated does the player know what to?
Do is he trying to do what's being? Coached and
then lastly how well does he do? It so, assignment alignment,
technique those.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
Things, YEAH i couldn't agree. More and so, oftentimes Because
i'm asked, OFTEN i imagine you are as well as
doing this as long as you, have like why why
should we care about mandatory mini?

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Camp why should we care about?

Speaker 1 (26:02):
OTAs what are you actually learning when you're watching things out?
There and certainly the coaches are learning a. Lot they're
learning a lot about their. PLAYERS i, mean obviously you're
working with your kids right now during off season no
games are, happening but you're learning a lot about your
players as. Well AND i do think that there's so
much to gain from these. NOW i will say from

(26:23):
a media member, standpoint there's sometimes some conclusions that we.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Jump to that are maybe. Wrong, listen this is three
years of, us we're going. Together you've bored off on
me to a point now WHERE i do.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Make these things, well sometimes don't get too far, down they'll,
go don't too.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Far but there are sometimes WHEN i look at this
And i'm Like, Okay now there's here's the.

Speaker 2 (26:50):
DEAL i think there is not much to be learned
from members of the media with respect To, OATES i
think from a coaching, standpoint and What sean alluded to
was assignments in. Alignment all, right do you know what

(27:11):
you're supposed to do on a given?

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Play, well the coach would know.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
That nobody really watching practice would know, that all, right
are you doing it the way we have taught you
to do? It, again the coach would be able to
know that after he watched the film of. Practice we
wouldn't you know WHAT i? Mean and then, ultimately you,
know did you make the? Play, well we can see
if a guy catches the ball or or something like.

(27:36):
That SO i JUST i have never, ever as a
member of the, media thought there was a lot to
gain from sort of GRADING ota. Practices you can, see you,
know LIKE i was able to See Evan INGRAM i
like the way he. MOVES i get. THAT i was
able to see in PERSON R. J harvey impressive, looking

(27:57):
young Guy Pat, bryant same. Thing but until we see
them in you, know, now training camps a little bit.
DIFFERENT i think you CAN i think you can gather
information watching practice and learning players and so, forth because
you're you, know you put them in pads a little.
Bit you see some padded practices a little, bit so

(28:18):
you can gain a few things, There but for for
me at, least not not a.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Lot as a member of the media FROM, ota WE i.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Don't thin we're gonna gain specifically the things that they're looking.
FOR i think that we're gaining through our own prisons
for our Own give.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Me two things that you you conclusions that you came
away with that you didn't know.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
With these THREE ota. Practice, sure, yeah the first.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
One and let me just all set it up with
this this sound bite From sean actually on Bon. Nicks
this was one of the biggest TAKEAWAYS i had from
from watching offseason practices that we had is watching how
quickly Bon nicks, operated and it did feel as though
it was it was a lot more seamless for, him
And seawan agreed with.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
That less, balls less hesitation with the play call in the,
huddle less, pause less hesitation in the. Pocket he's playing
fast and again protecting the. Ball he's hard to. Sack
he was hard to sack in, college so you're you're
seeing him play faster with more.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Confidence now he's not getting sacked out there and training,
right and that's never going to. Happen but you can
see the processes being a little more.

Speaker 2 (29:28):
Streamlined what does that mean to somebody listening that didn't see?

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Practice, Okay, so LIKE i was out there last. YEAR i,
MEAN i am out there for this my, seventh sixteenth
year covering the. Team So i'm out there for all
the offseas hard getting. Older, yeah he's in the gray. Hairs,
yeah BUT i was out there last year Watching bonnicks
and here was a quarterback, competition if you. Will but
it's out there Watching bonicks last, year and there were
some some rookie it felt like rookie moments Where sean

(29:55):
had to stop practice and call everybody, back, like, NO
i don't like the way you're lining.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
UP i don't like how it's long it's taking for.
You would you attribute those stoppages to Bone.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
KNICKS i attributed those stoppages to the offense not operating
the way he wanted to.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Operate, now you could say it's a Bone nicks, thing
or you could just say the offense isn't doing what he.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
Wants but he was animated and he was, yelling and
it's not just a simple we're going to redo this
until we do it. Right we didn't see any of
that this year this, offseason so it's just an operational
standpoint for what the offense is trying to.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Do it seemed a lot.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Smoother, YEAH i think that's probably a fair. ASSESSMENT i
think that's probably. SOMETHING i mean that that would be
a reasonable conclusion to come to watching these three. DAYS
i also thought sometimes it's fascinating to see how coaches
want to make their draft, picks especially their really early draft,

(30:52):
picks earn their. Opportunities Johday baron isn't inserted immediately into
the first.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Team he's working his way up and he's been playing
with first team, defense but he's not a he's not
a fixture on the first team defense.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Yet, MEANWHILE. Rj harvey is a fixture with first.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Team Pat bryant has been elevated as a result Of
Von velay not being out there because the early portions
of OTAs that we saw it Was Devon, vlay Was Courtland,
sutton it Was Evan. Ingram those are like the predominant
Guys Marvin mims all running with first team right because
they're quote unquote startering. Receivers Pat bryant was not until

(31:28):
now With Devon. Bild it just tells you that that his,
play especially when you couple that With shawn's talking yesterday
glowingly About Pat bryant that he is impressing. Him it's
not just us, watching he is impressing the coaching staff,
enough BECAUSE i don't BECAUSE i do think that we've
seen enough times where receivers and among other players with

(31:50):
their not doing what the coaching staff, wants whether you,
know lining up or coaching and learning the things they,
want then those guys don't get the same.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Opportunities you.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
See WHAT i would say is in training camp last,
year either the first or second, day in watching, practice
there was an exchange between i'll this say a coach
And Troy. Franklin and it was an EXCHANGE i remember
that lasted for PROBABLY i don't, know forty five. Seconds

(32:24):
hearing that. Exchange the way the way wasn't necessarily what he,
said it was the way he. Said what he said
told me that one of two, things AND i didn't
at that time know which one one That Troy franklin
was having maybe a challenge knowing exactly what the concept

(32:47):
was and what it called. For, two that Maybe Troy
franklin was having a little bit of a challenge in
terms of what's going to be acceptable pace in AN
nfl practice from a wide dress LIKE i don't want
to See he didn't say, this but you, know maybe
a little bit too much walking and not enough. Running

(33:11):
and so that exchange told me whether this is a
fair conclusion or.

Speaker 3 (33:17):
Not i'm not.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Sure how the early part of, this either preseason or
once they get into the. Season not sure how that's
going to go for For Troy. Franklin to your point
about the rookies in, OTAs, HOWEVER i would say the
fact that R. J harvey has had some reps with
the number ones And Jaddy baron has not had as

(33:40):
many reps with the number one, defense to, me speaks
almost solely about how good each room. Is AND i
think For johnny BARN i mean you're going into a you,
know a room of secondary members THAT i, mean it's
even before he got, here AND i think it upgrades,

(34:01):
now but it's one of the strongest positions on the.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
TEAM.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Rj harvey walks into a running back room and it's
like and, This this was a lot of this was BEFORE.
Jk dobbins. Signed he didn't really participate in the practice.
Anyway BUT. Rj harvey walks in and it's, like, huh,
okay Well i'm second round draft. Choice, Hell I'm i'm as,
good if not better than anybody in.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
Here So i'm.

Speaker 2 (34:28):
READY i, mean it's going to be a little bit
of a break, now But i'm ready for training. Camp
and you, know you have three preseason, games AND i
think there's a lot of excitement this, year AND i
think it's a legitimate excitement this year for The broncos.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
And talking some. Noise, yeah he was.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Texting me last. NIGHT i don't, know ten o'clock or.
Whatever i'm, thinking what who is this it's? Been And
i'm just gonna guess he was on Full but it
was it was a Good we had some good banter
back and. Forth he's gonna walk in here in ABOUT
i don't, know ten minutes or, so And i'm gonna
double down on WHO i still think will win THE Nba,

(35:12):
championship which will Be Oklahoma city like?

Speaker 3 (35:15):
It, SO okaycne, six that's where we're.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Going, Yeah i'll be, yeah, Yeah well that means they've
got to win two more games In. INDIANA i Think
Oak city will win tomorrow. Night that would make it
two to. Two it should be three to, one and
then it would end In Oak. City but it, Isn't,
Dave he's not three to. One it'll be two to,
two and Then Oak city wins In Oak, city it'll

(35:40):
be three. TWO i don't know IF i like him in,
six which would he'd win one of the two stakes
if it goes to. Seven BUT i do still Think
Oklahoma city will win the, series even though they do
not have home court advantage as we.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Speak, OKAY i you, Know, dave for the, Chaos i'm here.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
For. Yeah, plus you know what the beauty of this
whole thing.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Is, NO i don't you realize that you've also been
crushing me on The Oklahoma city. Thing SO i actually
am rooting for you to win this thing because THEN
i will be proven.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Rights no you, Won't, no you.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Won't oh you said you. Were you were An Oklahoma
city fan. Boy we have it on. Tape they had
the best record in the, league and you know you're, Like.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
OH i Think Oklahoma cities go just a great. Grade
you stumbled because you didn't know who do?

Speaker 2 (36:34):
It like Between Oklahoma city And, minnesota you were worried,
that you, know The nuggets can't be.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Here SO i was just trying to help. You you
were trying to help. Me in the process of, it
you end up proving me.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Right so you're gonna make me. Roofer so what happens
in your world wherever that? Is Should indiana Beat Oklahoma?

Speaker 3 (36:52):
City, WELL i was still right because they got to the.
Finals would you be right if.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
A seven hundred to seven hundred to one one favorite
lost the, FINALS.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
I would be right about them getting to the, finals
which was the original point THAT i was making the.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
Final keep we keep track of these shows and.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
Then but BUT i would fall short of fully being
able to spike the football because they didn't finish it.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Off they they've got the best, team they should be
able to finish this. Off So i'm Still i'm stuck.
BETWEEN i Bet benjamin That Oak city is gonna. Win
but if they, WIN i have to hear you in
sort of a faulty victory.

Speaker 3 (37:38):
Lab you put yourself in this.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Situation, yeah, well you know What i'd rather win, Stakes
So i'm Picking Oak. City so you're gonna Pick Oak,
city and even even though they do not hold home
court advantage and they're down two games.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
To, one and then you'll have to give me my flowers,
too will? Not but what else you? Got what else you?

Speaker 1 (37:56):
GOT i have this really fun But banana's stat for
you ON. Jk dobbins Versus Javonte williams as far as
their longest runs last.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
Year, oh this is this is not this is not
going to go well For. Javante it is. Not, Yeah,
so first of, ALL.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
Jk dobbins didn't have in a single game in thirteen
games that he ran.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
Last, year he went sixty? One did he not.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Hit a sixty one to forty, three a thirty, four
a twenty nine to a Twenty he didn't have a
single game where his longest run was single. Digits you
want to know how many Games Javonte williams had where
his longest run was still in single?

Speaker 3 (38:40):
Digits, WELL i called every one of. Them and this
was in sixteen seventeen.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
GAMES i would say in seventeen Games Javante williams had
a game in which his longest run was not double,
DIGITS i would say fourteen.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
Times, cool it's not that many but you're ten ten
times ten.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Times, TECHNICALLY i just DON'T i just don't remember him
breaking off a.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
LOT i guess the eleven yard or a ten yard
run would not be would not Constitute, no.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
It's a long, run but it's longest for long.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
Runs his longest run was Twenty, yeah on the, season
and then he had, one, two, three four or five
six games where he had in the, teams, well one
was ten yards the longest.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
Run he even had a game where he had one
carry for one.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
YARD i was Against Kansas, city and then he had
one game where they didn't even hand him the, Ball.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
SO i remember that zero carries for zero.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
Yards he had two catches though he. Played he, played but,
yeah so you look look AT. Jk dobbins and not
one game last year did he have less than Ten
his final game of the season was a ten yard
was the longest run hit some twelve thirt. Teams but
he had those bigger runs right sixty one forty, three
AS i. Mentioned But Javonte williams's longest run of the

(40:06):
season was twenty and he Had i'll just Say i'll
call it nine games nine games with single digit yards
as his longest.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
Run, YEAH i.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
THINK i mean again not to not to crack On
javante who WHO i do, like good young. Guy but
whether or not you say he was never the same
after the, injury maybe maybe that was. True whether you
say his running style sort of where his mindset was
coming into the. LEAGUE i MEAN i remember called every

(40:39):
one of his, games every single game he played as
A bronco and his rookie. SEASON i, mean he showed
some some real power and. Toughness BUT i remember saying
in a, Broadcast he's gonna have to modify was the
WORD i. Used he's gonna have to modify his running.
STYLE i, mean you can't in that league survive if
you are seeking out guys whose numbers start with, five

(41:05):
you have TO i, mean you just don't run right
through the, middle the middle of their. Septum you just
have to pick a shoulder and you know WHAT i.
Mean and he just wasn't having. It he was a contact.
Magnet it was almost like he loved.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
It he sought it.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Out AND i, MEAN i, hope, LISTEN i hope he
makes the team In. DALLAS i hope he has a
good season In. Dallas BUT i think you didn't have
to be the smartest guy to look at that running
back room last year and then go back and look
at all the games they, played including the postseason game In,
buffalo and just, say AND i said it many many,

(41:45):
TIMES i think they left yards on the field with
some of the moves that the running backs made or
maybe more accurately did not.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Make it's quite perfectly in. Line AND i agree with,
you this is quite perfectly in line What sewan even
said yesterday about explosive. Runs he's, like when it's blocked
a certain, way we need those running backs to do something.
More and you look at those numbers right there tell
you everything about What sean why he WANTED. Jk dobbins,
here why he WANTED. Rj harvey, here because he can

(42:15):
see that and, say, gosh if we just had a
we had a running back that averaged on their longest
run fifteen yards per, carry.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
Maybe even on the, SEASON i could add.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
This up price be closer to twenty yards on his
longest run per game average of twenty. Yards what that
does for our offense if we have a running back.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
That could do, That, YEAH i think you know the
running backs that at the end of the season we
all go back and look and, see, hey what do
he average per?

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Carry AND.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
Jk dobbins has been a four point six guy right or.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
Thereabouts.

Speaker 2 (42:47):
Well one of the, reasons and this would apply to,
most if not every single running back in the. League
one of the reasons you have an average like that
is you were able to break a big run or
two almost every single.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Game you look At Saquon.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
Barkley what Did berkley average per carry last year With Philadelphia?
Eagles now you, know and they used him in the
passing game as. Well But saquon was such a home
run hitter they were playing games and think about The Super.
Bowl he Really Kansas city With Steve spagnola's the defensive,
coordinate they did a great job On Saquon. Barkley they,

(43:24):
said you are not going to be the guy to
beat us if The eagles beat. Us, Right but for the,
SEASON i Bet saquon average over five yards of carriage
eight five point. Eight, well that's not him every time
he touches the ball getting six. Yards that's that's not
how that, average how that average. Works that's him you,

(43:47):
know getting, one getting, zero getting, four getting twenty. Seven,
yeah and then they added up and the average is
five point. Six and that's what The broncos did not
have nearly enough of last. Year Dave Logan ryan there

(44:12):
Words Benjamin albrights nationally last.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
Night about ten. O'clock so you want to get out
of your? Bet that to?

Speaker 2 (44:20):
You, yeah he, Offered, wow IF i wanted, To i'm a. Gentleman,
yep so you KNOW i wanted. TO i want to
allow him a.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
You, know a safe That Oak city wins the.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Series that'll be two steaks on them, winning AND i
have one steak on could lose because they could go
seven because they.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
Gave Away game. ONE i actually brewed FOR i Bet
indiana last. Night you. Did i'm totally. Confused what the
Hell i'm.

Speaker 6 (44:49):
DOING i said, THAT i said exact that stat yesterday
to try.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
To get you guys to vote Oak city that eighty one.

Speaker 6 (44:56):
Percent After game, TWO i sent him at stat to
try to tell you guys to get your Autoak. CITY
i got them, One oaks, said he didn't get you on.
IT i was trying to get. THEM i was trying
to trying to run away with the. Week i'm not
worried you'll finish. Seconds you always find a way to
coffid up. Late, yeah you're gonna you're gonna lose this.
Week But i'm The Melvin gordon of this. THING i
fumble it. Late you don't even know, hockey so you're
gonna lose the. Nights Where's Melvin gordon by the way the?
Couch SO i, WONDER i wonder if he does he get?

(45:19):
Signed do you think before?

Speaker 3 (45:21):
CAMP i, mean if somebody goes, down they might like
after camp. START i don't think he's, anywhere, RIGHT i,
MEAN i really don't think he's. Anywhere, NO i don't
think he's. Either BUT i imagine he was doing a. Podcast,
yeah he's a free. Agent he was with The ravens most. Recently,
YEAH i remember. That what's coming up ON Bct Luke

(45:42):
evan's gonna make His Broncos country and my debut from the.
Post we'll talk to him and that'll, be uh'll be
a little bit of. Fun So nick AND i are
gonna get into. It we get. This have you seen?

Speaker 6 (45:51):
This uh this guy who PITCHES i think for the
Bow Sox and he was claiming his dad pitched for The,
yankees and then it came out that his dad never
pitched for The, yankees or is not the.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
One that SAID i would rather retire than ever pitched
for The yankees and his dad never pitched for The.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
Yankees dad never pitched for The.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
Yankees like nobody can find any record of his dad
ever been anywhere within The yankees, organization major minor.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Leagues oh, boy oh. Boy So dad was telling some
whoppers back. Home so, yeah, Right SO i didn't even
know that
