Speaker 1 (00:00):
A surprise guest in studio.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
If I had to wear the diaper, I would do it.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Yeah, that guy.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
So I guess I'm on next Wednesday and not today.
I got my schedule Wednesdays mixed up, apparently.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I got a text from our boss, Dave Tepper last week.
He said, hey, can you work next Wednesday. I didn't
look at the date six twenty five. I just assume
next Wednesday is next Wednesday. I'm gonna look at the calendar, right,
So I'm here. I'm here, guys.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, the our hardest working people in business.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Right, exactly right?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
So what do we got going? I mean, just out
of curiosity? What do we got going? On the left wrist?

Speaker 3 (00:38):
There? What do we got going? Three? What do they
call these? Looks like beads? Well, they're beads. I've worn
this day since COVID. Yeah, my wife got me.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
These work as like protection, you know, protection from when
the virus was going around, and I'm afraid to take
them off because I'm superstitious.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
You've never noticed then, well he wondered why you rattled
when you walked?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
But okay, yeah, I've been wearing these for those protect
you from getting covid.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Well it's.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
I'm superstitious like that, all right. Yeah, and once it works,
I'm not taking them off. And you haven't got it
since started? Well, if I got it, it was a
very very mild case. Yeah, and so yeah, kind of
afraid to take it about. You know, I just wanted to, yeah,
deal about them.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
For me, it is very designer, kind of a rock star.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, look right, yeah, so I'm going with Yeah, then
you got the what's the necklace?

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Cross?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
You notice how you always bring deal in because you
know how much I love her.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Whenever you bring deal in, I can't really I know,
And that's she she got this in Ireland? What's that? What?
What is the necklace? What is that? What is that?
It's a cross? Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
And what does that protect you from?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Kidding the devil? Okay? What do you think I'm all for?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
That sounds like it's better than I remcton.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Uh yeah, apparently it does. Yeah, rick with you guys
for a few minutes from there. I brought snacks Dave here. Yeah,
thank you appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I mean it's not quite from dairy queen, but you know.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
That does sound good today right hot outside? Yeah, sounds
like a.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Perfect Rockies by the way, three game heater, heater, three
game heater, second three game winning streak of the season. Yeah,
like Jimmy Hendrick says, let me sitand next to your fire.
Oh very good, hot, nice nice well heater.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Great song. Yes, one of my favorites in that, Mitch Mitchell.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah, yeah, they're a wagon right now.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
And it's the offense, right, I mean the offense is
I mean the tide a franchise record seven home runs
last night.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
It's remarkable, like.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Four and one inning one like the seventh or eighth inning, fourthe.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah, I was, it was remarkable. It was cool.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
We're actually have Jack Corgan joining us for a couple
of minutes before the game to talk about the seven
home runs that happened in that game. And yeah, you
said they're a wagon right now, Daves. They've won three straight,
tie the season high. And I think sixteen sixteen wins
now right correctly? Uh yeah, I think that would be right,
sixteen and fifty seven. Okay, run ourway. I'm looking forward

(03:24):
to it. The Florida Panthers. I do have a Broncos
thing I want to ask you about here in a second.
But the Florida Panthers last night they the over.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
I was watching that game, geez.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Thinking about you, because it had no business whatsoever coming
close to that six and a half.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yet, well, it had no business coming close to the
six and a half because Edmonton did not show up
on offense. Sure so, but I thought I might, I
might get a back door cut.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I know, I was waiting for the net.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Wait, you guys are betting hockey.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Now, it just showed me the money. Oh kay, you
know it started a little. We would take it very
seriously though.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I was gonna say, Gambley problem calling one eight hun
gambler if you're betty hockey, you guys in particular.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Now, interestingly enough, the Colorado Avalanche are actually tied in
odds with Florida. And I want to say it's Edmonton,
but one other team, uh for to win next year.
How do you feel about that? Do you think the
Avalanche a lot of returning players? They are dead last
in the NHL in salary cap space. They have one

(04:28):
point two million in salary cap space. So the team
is the team.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I take it.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I'm good. Yeah, I take it. I think they're there. Yeah,
I hadn't. I'll be honest about I hadn't given it
one minute's thought. I mean, I think the ads are
going to be good, but I think the ADS are
going to be good as long as the nucleus stays
intact and healthy, I think they're going to be good.
Every single year. Florida was impressive to me. And I

(04:55):
know they made they made the deal for marchand which
really help them, But I just thought, by and large,
I thought Florida was a lot scrappier and tougher.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Than Edmonton.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Edmonton's got, you know, the best player in the world
and another one that is probably in the top three
or four, but they couldn't. I don't think they could
sustain any sort of depth with Florida. And I think
in the goaltending, I thought Florida had the better of
goaltending play in that series. Am I think the only

(05:35):
one that thinks it's weird that a Florida team, actually
two have repeated in the last five years, Tampa and
UH and Florida Panthers. That Florida teams are winning Stanley Cups.
To me, that just doesn't feel right, you know. Growing up,
I love it In Michigan, old school hockey guy when
there were I think there was maybe only six teams

(05:56):
when I was KB eight right when there?

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah that old.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I mean I have to go back and look, but
it just seems weird to me that that Florida teams
would be the dominant teams in the National Hockey League.
It just doesn't feel right.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
The more weird that a Florida team is winning championships,
or that a Canadian team hasn't won in thirty three years.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
That's also weird. Yeah, yeah, Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Winnipeg, right, yep,
none of them. They got to get it together up there. Well,
Florida's embarrassing, Canada.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Get Orlando back at the studio.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
I thought about the lafside.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Too, we get you USA, USA.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Well, you're said to get here, even though they are
a whole bunch of Canadians that playing for Florida.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I must admit that. No, I thought that. Again.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I just think that they they were tougher physically. I
thought they won a lot of the individual battles.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
You know, the.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
You'd have to say the system that they employ. I mean,
they've been to the Stanley Cup finals the last three years.
Florida has winning two of those winning two of those three.
So and they were the underdog in this series. They
did not have home ice advantage and they went it
in six. They won four of the last five games.
Ebmonton won the opener, so Emonton had two wins and

(07:22):
the series both were in overtime. But if you stop
and think about it, even there was an overtime win
for Florida had that game and there were opportunities for
Edmonton to win that game. Had that one game in
overtime that marchand gets the breakaway and scores. Had that
game gone the other way, the series is three to
three and heading back to Edmonton for Game seven, but

(07:44):
it didn't.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Wow, we just got some interesting breaking news.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
The Bus family is going to sell the Los Angeles Lakers.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Seven seven something the seven billion. This is saying ten billion.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Well, I have to help my offer who owns the
Dodgers is going to purchase for approximately ten billion per
per Shan Sharani. Wow, how lucky is Canadian j Moore
who married Jeanie Bus like a year ago and they
live in separate houses.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
They do, so Ryan and I are going to actually
defer to you on this. What what kind of negotiating.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Process is that you can stay married and your wife,
who is to own the Lakers, lives in a different house.
Now I don't know Genie Bus, but I know j Moore,
and I would say Jay is a high maintenance guy,
and uh, there's a lot of good things about j Moore.
But I could see why that would work for them
with not I've never met her, but Jay told me

(08:46):
that too, that they live in separate houses, but you know,
like I think, on the same property, but to dinner together. Yeah,
so they get together when they want to get together,
and then when the one they don't, they're Yeah, they
got their own little space. But I wonder how much
of that money Jane Moore might end up with, just speculating.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
You're wondering if there's a prenup.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Is that what you're I would think there would be, right,
I think, yeah, although I don't know if Jane needs money,
but if he doesn't have as much money as Janie does. No, No,
not even.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Close, especially not close.

Speaker 4 (09:19):
Although it does look like she's going to continue on
per Schams, is that she's going to continue on as
the governor of the Lakers after the sale, so she's
still part of the Lakers just not owning the Lakers,
which is ten billions.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Wow, I mean, what was it?

Speaker 4 (09:33):
The Broncos were four point six y five four point
sixty five as an NFL franchise. Although I don't know,
I guess worldwide, Lakers will probably be considered the bigger marketing.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I think, just one of the biggest sports brands. I mean,
I think they're out there with the Yankees. Stop starting
to think about this. In what world does the asking
price and final price of four point six y five
billion now three years later seem like.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
It was?

Speaker 2 (10:04):
It was a great deal. That's ridiculous point, And it's
just going to keep going up. It's just gonna keep
going at some at some point, it has to, doesn't it.
It has to stop at some point, or does it.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
I don't know. I think it probably keeps going up. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
The Commanders were six point oh five billion when Josh
Harris purchased them in twenty twenty three.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I mean, the Cowboys have been valued at over ten billion,
although I don't I don't think the Jones family has
any interest in selling them.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
What are the Yankees valued? Oh man, that's a great question.
I don't know. I would have to think. I would
have to think it'd be more than ten billion. Same.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
This says eight point two on here, eight point two
billion with a B.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Yeah, that's according to Forbes.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
What does it say?

Speaker 2 (10:53):
What does Forbes say the Rockies are worth? Just out
of curiosity?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
More of a curiosity.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Hey, listen, we're not We're not making any changes the
Rockies on a heater. They've won three in a row.
We're not changing anything. So eight point two for the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Do you want to guess, just for fun, you want
to guess what the Rockies are?

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Well, less than eight point two would be my guess. Yeah,
quite a considerably less. I'd say, Well, let's see, they're
averaging twenty eight thousand games. So I'm going to say
Yankees are eight point two billion. I'm going to say
the Rockies are eight eight hundred and thirteen million.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Less than a billion. It's over a billion. To take
one point two billion. That's what I would say to
one point two.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
You can't say what I say one point four.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Stop doing that.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
You get your own set under your own guess one
point four for me, one point four to seventy five.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Okay, Rick close, all right, Rockies don't really have a
TV deal.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
The lowest do you want to hear the just just
out of curiosity?

Speaker 3 (11:58):
So Yankees are obviously number one.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Said the lowest would be where where's Oakland play these days?

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Oakland is second lowest. What are they valued?

Speaker 1 (12:06):
At one point one billion? One point one eight?

Speaker 4 (12:10):
Actually, to be specific, the Miami Marlins are one billion
flat and they're the lowest on this list.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
In a big city, in a big city, and they
just they don't draw anybody.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
We talked about Miami the other.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Day, like four or five thousand people in the game.
I think that's exactly right. It's like five thousand a game,
the weirdest thing. And they're worth one point one billion flats.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
You could almost buy the Marlins.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Dave see, I can't even get the point one.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Yeah, he would have walked in and said, hey, how
about five hundred.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I'm on the right side of the dot and I
can't make it work. You know, we could pull our money.
We wouldn't make the point one even worse.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
No, well, congratulations, uh to the new ownership there.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Mark Walter is now the going to be the owner
of the LAA.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Where about marky Mark? No, not Mark Mark Wahlberg. That's
water Mark Wahlberg. Yeah, who's Mark Walter. He's the owner
of the Dodgers. All the Dodgers owner.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Now yeah, hey, Matt Magic's got part of the Dodgers too,
So I wonder if Magic. I would have to think
Magic is involved in this deal. I have to think
soach thinking ownership capacity, I would imagine it's a lot
of ten billion to come up. Has been a lot
of things before we get to I want to ask
you about the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Interesting move this afternoon, adding a cornerback in drier Alexander.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
But we did get this before the show started.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Shart Shore Sanders was taken to driving one hundred and
one miles per hour and sixty miles per hour zone
out there in Ohio.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Now exactly.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
I think the headlines in the off season the jew
Shoudre Sanders you want to be making But I don't know, man,
Is that.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Is that just immaturity?

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Is that just you're I don't even know could because
he's supposed he tries to measure himself, Dion tries to
measure that family at a higher level than that.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
So I don't really know what to make of that story.
Other than to say do better. Yeah, I don't. I mean,
first of all, you can't drive that fast.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Second of all, let's be glad that we're not talking
about somebody getting killed. I think of the Henry Ruggs
situation in Las Vegas. What a tragedy that was. Yeah,
I think it's I mean, you just can't. He can't
do it. So hopefully Shudur will learn from this. Does

(14:36):
this say where he was?

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Yeah? Then hold on, let me see if I can
grab that real quick thought. It wasn't a duy, No,
it was your point, Dave.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
And when you've got a Lamborghini, I'm guessing that's probably
what he was driving. That's what you do. Why would
you guess he's driving a Lamborghini. I believe he has
a couple of lambergreins, a Lamborghini's couple of rolls.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Rice. Really Yeah, I haven't followed it.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Sub of Strongsville, you did?

Speaker 2 (15:05):
I had to uh, two separate homes, lived there for
I don't know six or seven years, sir. Highway high
wait forty two. There are no highways that you can
go one hundred and one miles an hour. Okay, I
will assure you of that.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
It's driving one hundred and one miles per hour on
seventy one North.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Well, that's that's on the main interstate twelve twenty four
am driving.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Did it say what kind of car?

Speaker 2 (15:28):
Typically they'll tell you does not say so here, So
seventy one would be very similar to I twenty five
in Denver. Right, it's an interstate, it's a highway. Still,
you mean you don't want to be going that fast? Obviously,
So glad nobody was was injured.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Oh wait, as there's a video. I don't have to
watch that video that they showed me the car.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
One thing I want to ask you, guys, So JayR
Alexander signed a one year contract with the Ravens today.
Very talented cornerback. Which secondary would you rather have? Which
secondary is better between the Broncos and the Ravens. Ravens
with Jyr Alexander, Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Chadobi Woozier, Kyle
Hamilton and Malachi Starks versus the Broncos, Certan Moss, Baron McMillan,

(16:17):
Afanga and Jones.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
You've got two guys in the Ravens secondary. I think
that could play basically for anybody, but I would take
the Broncos secondary. I've always felt like Jayyer Alexander I
think is a good player. I've never I've never felt
like he and I know he got paid as a
great player with the Packers, but I've never just in

(16:40):
kind of watching whether the Broncos played the Packers, or
getting ready for the Packers game, watching the Packers the
cutup of what they do in the back end. I
don't know. I've never I've never felt like he was
one of the top five corners in the game. Now listen,
I don't have to run routes against him. Maybe maybe

(17:00):
he would, you know, back in the day, maybe he
would eat me up.

Speaker 3 (17:04):
I don't know. I don't think so, you know, but I.

Speaker 4 (17:07):
Think I take the Broncos too. But most of the
responses say I put up as a pole question and.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Now Hamilton would play in Denver, in Las Vegas, in
LA in Kansas City, Kyle Hamilton would play on anybody
in anybody's secondary period.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
One hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
A lot of people chime me in on this one said,
I still have a lot of questions about the Broncos secondary.
Can Riley Moss repeat some of the success he had
early last year, obviously got injured and sure didn't look
as good.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
We don't know what Jodday Barron is necessarily.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
As a pro Jacuoni Millen had some struggles there towards
the end of season, so I can see why there's
some questions. But I think when all are right and
all are healthy, Rick, I probably take the Broncos. And
maybe that's just a Homer take, but yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
To me, the addition of Baron I think I think
gives the Broncos the edge there. I think Baron's going
to be a really good player, and you can move
him around as well, so he provides not only star
quality talent but also versatility. I think the Broncos secondary

(18:10):
is debatable, but I say they're one of the best
in the league, if not the best. Who else other
than cal Hamilton am I missing in Baltimore, Jayar Alexander?
Who else is there? Marlon Marlon h is a really
good player. Nate Wiggins, I'm not overly familiar with him.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Yeah, they added a woozy a the cu Kid, really
good players, and they drafted Malachi Starks out out of Georgia.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Georgia.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, Okay, I mean that's that's a good group too strong.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
That's a good group too.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
I'm just not I'm not as high on Jayar Alexander
as I think some people may be in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
I think if the Broncos hadn't added Talanoa and hadn't
added jad A, this maybe would be a different conversation.
I probably tip it to the Ravens as they are
constituted right here. But I think to Rick's point, the
addition of Berry and even the unknown of what he
is and then telln't know Whufunga is an absolute upgrade
over what no offense to PJ. Locke is an absolute
upgrade there to the secondary big time.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
So the pole question to put up right now is
not really fair because it's me as a.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Well look at you being self reflective.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
I mean, I have acknowledged that I got killed by
Ravens fans already. They're like, well, of course you're putting
this up as a Broncos person media member, and it's
like the fact.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
That you have Ravens fans that follow you. Yeah, I
think it's a testament really to your stay in power.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Seventy eight percent right now, say the Broncos are the
better secondary well.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
I mean on the Broncos station. I mean, what the
hell really?

Speaker 4 (19:42):
I was like, I was like, this feels a little
skewe now, like I wanted to bring like I thought.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Whyt to be fair about it.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Why don't you do a poll maybe before we get
off the air, about where who has better crab cakes?
That way, you know what, you'll you'll kiss up to
Baltimore fans a little bit, yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Figling yourself to the Ravens fans. Mom, can I I
can't like.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Put Broncos in there because we serve crab I mean
we serve crab cakes here Denver.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Crab cakes. Yeah, like poutine.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
I have had Poontine here. I've heard this discussion before.
You know, Rick, have you had some? Just like roll
your eyes back, good Poontine. You know what, Dave, you
never forget if you do, I know, and it's something
you just never forget that.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
He's different here. Yes it is.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
You know, maybe I wrote a pole question on that
better Poontine in Baltimore and Baltimore and.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
See, yeah, let me just be the first to say
I vote Denver.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
Maybe I'm a homer, you know, I I the one
time I visited Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
I did not like it there.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
You didn't get any poontine, But I didn't get it right,
You didn't. You didn't. I did not have any try,
so you're not a good source.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
It was an unbelievably dirty hotel that we stayed in,
and the people are not too friendly.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
So I'm not It was a dirt prey hotel. Are
you back there for a Bronco trip? No?

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Was there on tour. We were there on.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Tour tour meaning music. What we were playing music. I
was a musician and we're to you went on tour
on tour? Did you get one of them big greyhound buses? Well,
we had a conversion van. I bought a conversion van
and we put a trailer on it.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Nice. Okay, you guys all sleep in the vand and
you didn't.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Get the poonin and you were a traveling musician, couldn't
afford it.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
We never paid for the poontine.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
That's when you go out with friends and friends buy
you the pontine, or you get poontinum on your own,
but you know you never paid for it.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Every day I learned something.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Your lasterday, I learned about blackjacket today on learning that
I shouldn't pay.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Yeah, well, Rick will attest to the blackjack thing. Rick,
You're you're playing blackjack, okay, and you have an A
seven delt you okay, what's the dealer in a six
and the dealer has six?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (21:52):
ACE six to Rick and the dealers shows six. I
would hold yeah, I would hold on a sixte.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
That's the right answer. Is that's the long answer.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Why. That's why there's big buildings out in Vegas because
of YouTube?

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Guys, Well, right guy with Jack Corgan, the one and
only Jack Corgan voice the Rockies. You'll hear him and
the broadcast coming up to the top of the hour
at four o'clock from Washington.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Jack, my friend, good to talk to you.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
How are you?

Speaker 5 (22:25):
I am good, Ryan, And Hey, I like the Stevie
ray Vell and lead in. Then you can do that
anytime with me. He's one of my guys. I love
his music.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
So Jack, let's let's get on to the important topic here.
I just want I want to I'm counting on.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
You Jack for this.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
You're in Vegas and you're playing black jack, and the
dealer gives you an ACE six and the dealer turns
over a six or a five or a four four
five six?

Speaker 3 (22:56):
What jack is your move?

Speaker 5 (23:00):
You're gonna You're going to stay Corrigange.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Jeez, I tell you what, had never been more disappointed
in a guy that I think highly of in the
sports world.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
So let me let me tell you one thing, Dave.
I could tell you the number I could count on
one hand the number of times I've played blackjack and
a casinos, so I'm hardly an authority.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Well, I can count on one hand the number of
times that I've actually won in a casino in Las Vegas.
So hey, let me I mean we were we were
kidding the other day, you know, on a one game heater,
on a two game heater, they won three games in
a row and looked like they're playing better baseball if
in fact, as you call every single game, they look

(23:50):
like they're playing better baseball. To you, what two or
three things have stood out in terms of why that
is possible?

Speaker 6 (23:57):
Well, I think a couple of things.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
They've certainly, more often than not in the stretch of
maybe the last three weeks plus of games on most nights,
they're getting better starting pitching. And I think so often
in the horrible start they had. They just put themselves
in such a hole, you know, being down multiple runs

(24:21):
early innings with a young lineup trying to find itself
just not a good formula. So I mean ermon Marquez
has pitched better, Antonio Sensintela was good last night, Free has,
Kyle Frielan's been pretty good all along. When you hang around,

(24:42):
you know, then then you have more opportunities.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
So there's certainly that.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
And while they still strike out more than all of
us would like to see evidence by all the strikeouts
they had in Atlanta, but even in the day, like
Warren Shafer said to me in the pregame yesterday, he goes,
we strike out sixteen times and then we scored nine
runs and win ten to one. I mean, that's the

(25:08):
craziness of baseball. I just think they feel better about
themselves right now and understand that, you know that it's
the process. I think they did get overwhelmed a little
bit with you know, people projecting this and projecting that.
Invite people to listen to Michael Tolia's comments to me

(25:33):
when I recorded a pregame interview with him for tonight show,
talking about projections and all of that, you know, there
are so many games left, and baseball is so crazy,
you just have to you just have to play them
out day by day, as difficult as that might be
for fans who look much bigger picture than we do.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Certainly, and I tried to make this point yesterday.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Dave shot me down because it is professional sports, and
in the end, the wins and losses are tend to
be what you're measured by. But I did notice, especially
when you're talking about the offense, that the Rockets are
getting out some leads here. And I guess for me, Jack,
I'm just looking for something to show me that the
tide is turning a little bit.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Are you noticing, ZEI, Well, you turned it moral victories
in fairness fair There are no moral victories in professionals.

Speaker 5 (26:22):
Yeah, right there with you, Dave, yep. I think it's
there are guys, you know. I think Tyler Freeman is
a guy that they needed, you know, not someone who's
going to hit a bunch of home runs or whatever.
But he doesn't strike out, he gets on base, he runs,
and he's a good complimentary piece to some other things.

(26:45):
I thought it was interesting. Warren Schaeffer and I were
talking in his office after recording one of his pregame shows,
and he said, you know, it's wonderful to have big boppers,
and it is still you know, part of it because
of course Field and all that. He said, but look
what the Giants did in the two games. They rallied

(27:07):
against the Rockies on the last homestand they didn't hit
a ball hard, but they hit the ball. And I
think as the Rockies adjust a little bit, you're still
going to have to have, you know, a couple three
boppers in your lineup.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
But I think as they find.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
More people that put the ball in play, you know,
the old cliche of keep the parade going to the
next guy, pass it along, I think that has a
chance to play better for this group, and we're seeing
some of the young guys embrace that opportunity.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
So, Jack, you.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Mentioned Warren Schaeffer, and we had anyone the show. I
don't know, a couple of weeks ago, maybe it was
right after, not probably longer in a couple of weeks ago.
But from your standpoint, what what couple of things are
most different? If there are a couple of things between
Schaeffer and Buddy Black, I think all of us loved buddy.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
We're getting to know Warren Shaeffer.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
But from either a strategy standpoint, a personality a temperament standpoint,
does anything strike.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
You as being different with Warren Shaffer?

Speaker 5 (28:17):
Well, one of the things that jumps right out Warren,
and I think it comes from his time as a
minor league manager and as a minor league player. By
his own description, you know, a good fielder who absolutely
couldn't hit, as he told Jerry one day in an interview.

(28:37):
But I think he appreciates that idea of everybody has
a role and opportunities. I think tonight'll be another example.
He's not afraid to mix up a lineup and play
different people in different spots, whether it's a position spot
or a spot in the lineup.

Speaker 6 (28:55):
And that truly that.

Speaker 5 (28:59):
Idea of you know, I've got to use everybody, and
I've got to figure out a way to get the.

Speaker 6 (29:05):
Best out of these guys.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
And I think the players feel a little more engaged.
He is certainly intense, but in a baseball intense kind
of way. It's not like Bill Belichick, Bill Parcells kind
of football intensity, or even a Sean Payton. You know,
get after it because you couldn't do that in baseball,

(29:27):
and it'll grind you up. But he plays with an
edge as a manager, if you can understand my process there.
And Buddy was you know, Buddy was a veteran, and
Buddy had seen the ups and downs and all of
that and played more the steady hand shape. Not that

(29:48):
he's getting in people's faces, but there's some electricity coming,
you know on Clint Hurdle helps with that too, but
I think the guys are feeding.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
Off of it. I love it. Jack.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Looking forward to the call tonight's and we're gonna hand
things off to you here in about fifteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Really appreciate the time, sir.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
All right, thanks and Dave. So I'm supposed to take
a card. Then when I'm at sixteen, you double that.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
I want you to. I want you to.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Yeah, I would.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
I didn't know I had that option. See again, that's
my intell Again.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
That's very problematic for me, and I think you I
was counting on you, and so I've got to go
back to the drawing board.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
Jack. Thank you, Jack, Okay, I appreciate it the great
Jack Corrigan, Jerry Shevell. They'll be on the call tonight
for the Rockies and Nationals.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
It's pretty pretty.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
So are you here?

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Here you go Trapes and and dance being down the road.
You don't really like Hendricks. I sound like a backhand
handed compliment.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
I was saying, I wonder what is considered the best
Hendrick song?

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Like, that's not even an.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Along the Watchtower.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
It's a good Yeah, Purple Hazes, that's pretty. It was
an out loud wonder you didn't like Purple Hayes. I
did like Purple Hayes. Okay, I like Purple Hayes. Right,
I'd say I think fire might be That might be
it for me.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
It was my favorite hinder.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yeah, that's pretty good. Good drums as you that's that
is really great. Thank you to Jack Corgan for joining
us a moment ago again. Rockies Nationals come up here
at the top there. We're gonna do that for show
me money.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Ask me by the way, Ryan, Jack busy getting ready
for the Nationals Rockies game coming up here in a
few minutes. He just said, Dave, I was just kidding.
I would definitely double a six against the four or
five six.

Speaker 4 (31:33):
I hear a text of Jack, my favorite text of
the day so far. Where do you find all these
guys who don't know how to play black jack. Dave,
it was part of the screen process for the show actually,
and then.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Dave Tepper, our boss, walked in the studio during the
break and I asked him the same question.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
He said, Oh, I don't gamble. He doesn't even play cards,
never plays cards.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
There's something I mean, that's that's there's a little bit
of a communistic flair for me from tap on that one.
You know, it's like you're a CIA operative and you
were put in this country and you were told do
not gamble, do not play cards, and do not play golf.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
He does wear a lot of red.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
He didn't play He didn't play cards or golf.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Next thing, you know, he doesn't drink whiskey either.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah, what's going on? Well back to mar three o'clock.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
But she all be Harris great Johnson, I Durant appreciate
two Rocky so Nationals coming up next, The Long Fall
