Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dave Logan Ryan at works five six six nine Zeros
or Kakuna Spirit Health text line if you want to
interact with us Broncos Country tonight, coming up at the
top of the R six o'clock. They'll walk you into
the evening.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Again.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Happy fourth to everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Hope everybody's got a safe and exciting plan for the
holiday weekend. I know we're looking forward to it. This
is a pretty funny text, Ryan, Who did you cheer
for in Rocky four? Oh, I have thought about that.
I hadn't thought about that.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
What do you think I rooted?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I think it's a simple I don't know. I think
it's a simple question.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Definitely Rocky. Listen, don't give me the side eye.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
For what it's worth, Drago was kind of undefeated. He
was like the say, here you go, best in the world.
I mean, he said, to acknowledge greatness.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
One of the first times I met you true story.
One of the first times I met you. I came
into the studio. I don't think it was the first
day we started working together. But what struck me what
I can't remember the last time I've seen someone perusing
a biography on Joseph Stalin. Now, I'm a big history buff.

(01:08):
I I really have an interest in history, and I
was like, wow, here's this young guy that is really
interested in, you know, World War two and before history
of what took place in Europe. So but it's now,
see it's sorting. It's all starting to sort of come together,
coming together, not just you know, I.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Just didn't want to be interested in the world and
the way things happen.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
You want to see.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah, plus you know the mustache and yeah, you know
I mustache.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Yeah. He was one of the first guys that had
a porn stash, right, I hope I'm not insulting any
any of Russian lineage, but somebody else that it was
one of the greatest stashes of all time for real anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, but anyways, anyways, I absolutely absolutely to ask your question,
and I'm honest, very much rooting for Rocky in that one.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Well congratulates.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Actually, Rocky four might be my favorite Rocky of all
of them.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Really, yeah, I mean it's.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Right there with with for the first one. It's like
one of four. One is what is a classic?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
Right? Is classic? So like nineteen seventy six maybe, yeah,
let's get that seventy six.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Let me see when that came out. Seventy six, good town,
it's good. Yeah, and Rocky four because Rocky four came out.
I mean, seventy six is before my birth, so nothing.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
I was gonna say.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Yeah, So when Rocky four came out, I remember like
being really add for it.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
So I how old were you then? Ryan? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Do you really want to know? So Rocky four was
eighty five? So five five?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah? Great?

Speaker 3 (02:48):
How old were you in nineteen eighty five? Negative six?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
God man, negative six? Look at you guys.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well anyways, Uh excited to be here with you guys.
For the five six six nights. There was a KWA
Common Spirit Health text lifef you want to hit us up,
let us know what you're doing for July fourth. We'll
obviously read some of those coming up in just a
little bit. So, carrying one more thing for the Nuggets
before we get the Broncos. I wanted to ask you
because last year the Nuggets says, as we noted, thirty

(03:17):
one point nine to three point attempts per game. Number
one team was the Boston Celtics to forty eight point two.
And it's not to say that the Nuggets way anywhere
close to that. But you sort a factor in you knows,
valoniunas thing aside. You know, you bring in Tim Hardaway,
junior sharpshooter Bruce Brown as a proclivity there. Certainly Cameron

(03:37):
Johnson is gonna I mean he has from a volume standpoint,
he takes more three pointers per game where in the
David adamman Era. I don't know if there's anything you
could take away from either his time with Michael Malone
or just maybe even his dad, but I say there's
a possibility based on the move they made, that maybe
this team is going to be more prolific from beyond
the arc.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
What do you think, Well, I think they have to be.
I mean, I think that's that's been one of the
sort of central issues that a really good basketball team
in this I mean, the Nuggets have been a really
good basketball team for the last handful plus years, right,
obviously winning the championship a couple of years ago, but

(04:19):
they they really have not been a good three point
shooting team in terms of percentage, in terms of how
many times they shoot it. And so I think, yeah,
I mean I think both those moves. I mean, Cam
Johnson is a good three point shooter. The only issue
I think Nuggets fans will have with Cam Johnson, who
was acquired in the trade with MPG, will be kenny

(04:41):
state health. He hasn't. I mean, his track record would
indicate that. I mean, I don't think he's played seventy
games in a single season in his career as not.
So you'd like to think that that's going to change.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Yeah, sixty six is the most okay, so, but he
can shoot it when he's held.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He's a really good player. He's got a better handle
than MPJ. I think he's a better all around player,
is he? You know, MPJ when he was right was
a prolific perimeter shooter. Is Is Cam Johnson like that? No?
I think he's probably a notch below that. But Cam

(05:22):
Johnson is an improvement for the Nuggets in terms of
their ability to knock down perimeter shots. He also is
a willing defender. He's a guy that can get in transition.
He's just I think at this stage he's just a
better all round basketball player than MPG. And that's that's
not throwing shade at MPJ.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
I like the way you frame that, like they need
to be I like that because I completely agree with
you on that. Again, they've been a very good team
shooting at least amount of three pointers. It's not to
say that they can't still be a good team, but
you just look what the modern NBA is. Again, they're
not going to get up into the fifties like Boston
Celtics do. And you know, I remember going over some
of those games in the past when they're shooting.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Over sixty in a game, and they're ever going to
be that.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
But I mean, even if you're kind of middle of
the pack, you know, in this group, I mean we're
talking like dead middle of the pack is the Phoenix
Suns and the Memphis Grizzlies. At thirty eight, you know,
I mean, you're like, hey, seven more threes per game.
It's not really asking a lot. And especially with the
moves that you've made, it seems to indicate that you
think you'd like to be better there too.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Yeah, And I think Tim Hardaway Junior can help in
that regard. I mean, he's regarded as a really good
three point shooter. In fact, if you ask somebody who
had watched Tim Hardaway Junior during his NBA career, he
named the three things he does best three point shooting
would be in the top three, maybe number one, right,
So I mean you don't acquire him if you're completely satisfied,

(06:43):
like Golden State probably would not have had an interest
in Tim Hardaway junior couple. So, but I think one
other thing has to has to change for the Nuggets,
and I think Bruce Brown will really help in this regard.
They have to have a different mindset in terms of
their defensive effort. And you know, you got a guy
like Christian Brown, who he's that guy. He gives you

(07:06):
great effort, gets out in transition, finishes strong. He's one
of the best finishers in the league. Not a consistently
great perimeter shooter, but I thought he got better last year.
But you need some guys that are willing to step
up at key times of games and really contest things

(07:27):
with their bodies, stay in front of the ball. Bruce
Brown has shown an ability and willingness to do that.
Jamal Murray in the playoffs in Oak City, in stretches,
showed a defensive intensity that I just hadn't seen on
a regular basis. We got to have more of that, right,

(07:48):
And this is where I think Valentiunis is such an
important addition because as great as Jokich is, the Nuggets
prior to the Valentniss deal did not have a rim
protector and so one of one of the one of
the I think things that made Oklahoma City so aggressive

(08:11):
and so dynamic on defense and the willingness of guys
like Lou Dort and Alex Caruso uh to extend their
defense and I mean get up in people to where
I mean it's hard even to dribble the basketball, much
less make a move and try to go buy somebody.
But they were able to do that because you had
a rim protector behind them and chet Holmgrimm and to

(08:34):
a lesser extent, Isaiah Hartenstein. So that's that's where Valentnis
I think is really big for this team because he
can be He might not be home grin in terms
of terms of block shots, but he's a seven footer
who's athletic, and he will change a few things. After
somebody beats one of the Nugget perimeter defenders and gets

(08:56):
into the paint, that guy can change some he's mind
in terms of just having an easy shot or maybe
now he's going to kick it out and you don't
have to you don't have to collapse from a wing
and then give your guy that you're defending a wide
open three point shot from the corner.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I almost sound like I'm thinking outside the box too
much here, But let me ask you a question. Would
you ever consider and I guess maybe some matchups might
dictate this having Valance Unis and Yokic on the floor.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Ever, at the same time, sure.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I said that in the first Yeah, first segment. I
think when you see what Oklahoma City did this year
with Homegroun and Harden, this is what I'm thinking about. Yeah,
I mean that's you know, then Youkach can play a
facilitator or you can play at the high free throw
line extended. He's he's got a good enough perimeter game,
so you cast some real issues and then you know,

(09:51):
depending on who's playing him, you know, then if it
if it's a smaller power forward, well then you know
Youkich is a beast down the block. So yeah, I
sure hope the Valentounas thing works out, because I think
that is as big a move as any that the
Nuggets made in the offseason, including Cam Johnson.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
I completely agree, and the thing I like about it
is not only the minutes that you're going to be
saving Nicole Yokich, especially in the regular season.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I mean, we talked about that midway through that last year.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
We were just like, man, he is trending towards some
unbelievable numbers. Now he's going to be phenomenal in the
average a triple double. For a reason didn't win the MVP,
which is unfortunate. But the fact is he is banging
with these bigs down low night in the night out
because he plays demnar every night. They barely give him
time off. What I like is to wear and tear
portion of it too. And so you whether you have

(10:46):
him on the floor a ton together or not. Jonas
is built for this. Like you look at that that guy.
He is built to be that guy and Yoker is two.
But that's not the strength of his game. The strength
of his game is not not the bad bigs and
collect fowls. In fact, you want the opposite to happen
with Nikola Jokic, But Yonas can do that.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Its can battle these bigs. He can collect fowls if
you absolutely need him to do that.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Are we have any good Greek restaurants here in Denver. Oh,
I'm sure we do. I love Greek food, but I
couldn't tell you. Gosh, you used to go to one
what was the name of that? Maybe we need to
make Jonis valentiunis aware of how great the Greek food
is in Denver.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
You know, you might not. He might not really realize
that nor believe it. Like Denver, Colorado known for Greek food.
I don't know. I mean or Uzzo, I mean.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
Oh right, hey, Husos, I'm here for that.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
Yeah, they I doubt he you know, the deal becomes
official on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
I doubt he's here on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
But then as soon as he you know, he's here,
I would welcome him with some kind of hey, why
don't we meet at this restaurant? Or you just bringing
to the facility in Greek spread? Right, Dave, that's good stuff?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Did we do that?

Speaker 1 (12:01):
We just let him know you don't have you don't
have to fly clear across the world to get great
Greek food.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah, I mean assuming that's you know, who knows? Like again,
who knows what the reason is for the sort of
affinity that evidently he feels towards plane in Greece. I
don't know.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Well, the read I had on this on the original report,
and it was actually kind of funny because when it
first came out, let me let me pull this up here,
because when it first came out, the reporter said, Yonas
Valentiunis is nearing a stunning euro League move and exiting
the NBA. The leaded that tweet or edit it and
said Yonas Valentnis is considering a.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
Stunning euro League They changed it.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
They did.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
The person who initially had the report changed the framing
of it, so it went from nearing a stunning Oh wait,
those are.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Two totally totally different things.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Yes, significant, significantly different.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
But the way this is reading is he values the
stability of the three year deal that he'd be getting
in Greece versus the technically one year plus a team
option here, even though there's well.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I mean, we can we can figure that out, can't we?

Speaker 3 (13:14):
I would think so.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
I mean, especially because of what we just described as
his ballot thirty. He is thirty thirty three, thirty three
Yeah in May, so just turn thirty three.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Man, I you know, I'm playing with somebody else's money here,
but I would do almost whatever it took to get
him signed. And you know, whether it's guarantee another year.
So instead of the one year for ten, what if
you have a two year for twenty two? Right? And
then the two year for twenty two looks a hell

(13:48):
of a lot better than the three years in Greece for.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
How much three years in Greece for thirteen?

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Yeah, I you know, not in a good math or not,
but two years and twenty two seems like a better
deal than three years and thirteen.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Somebody says we should let him know how good the
Denver poutine is.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
You know what? On a different note, is he he's married?
Oh you knew that.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
I looked it up because you were asking about that.
I didn't look up the kids.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Or any He might not care. He might not care about.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Well, how does that impact gravy and fries?

Speaker 2 (14:25):
Yeah? Well, because you know, I mean, he's big. Guys
have to watch. Oh that's sort of their poutine intake,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
That's a tall individual yourself.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
He's not only tall, he's thick. He's seven he's a
seven foot or anyways, how many ways to eighty y? Right?

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Yeah, this one Pete's just east of East High School.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
That's the one. I've been to Pete's so many times
that I couldn't remember the name of it. But years
ago Pete's very very good.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Have you ever been there? I have not, Ryan, you
should go. I don't think I've ever had Greek food.
I've listening, I haven't lived.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
You should. You should get out a little bit. I
mean ask your wife. It's if it's okay, but maybe
next week we can stop out, have a lunch of Petes.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
I'll check it with her here. Yeah, if that's cool.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
I'm still wait to hear back about if my uh.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Well, I don't know. And you texted her like an
hour ago, and this is this is telling is a problem.
Well no, not a problem for me. It's not a
problem for me at all. I I uh just listen.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Would you test your wife? She responds, well.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Your your mother. I mean this was your mother in law, right.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Yeah, like she allerged the beaches, something about getting a
peach tree. She probably just she probably thinks I text
the wrong person. You think they really want you seriously
to come tomorrow. I know they want to see it.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
I mean, if they could in a nice way see
your two daughters and their daughter, you think they go
for that.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
I don't think I'm that well now now I'm stand think.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
About I'm just saying, do you think you think they would?

Speaker 3 (16:02):
You know, you bring up a good point.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I think it is they said they liked me. That's
the first sign right there that they met to.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Actually tell you like, you know, I mean, we like
you very quickly. The best the best was so I
asked my father in law for permission, right smart, kind
of an old school thing, but I thought it was
you know, I listen, I don't want to propose to
their daughter and find out after the fact that they
really didn't.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
They were just pretending all along.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Yeah, and so I wanted to do it in person,
but I didn't have enough time, like we were, because
I had a plan.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Please tell me you didn't text team I called. I called.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
It was over the phone.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
I did, I was.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
It was it's not great.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
No, it's not it's not Not only is it not great,
it's not any good. But go ahead.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
It's not great. But we were living in four columns
at the time, and how far is that dry?

Speaker 2 (17:00):
This is long drawing to marry my daughter and you
can't drive from Fort Collins to where Centennial. Okay, that's
an hour. It's a traffic man, it's an hour, all right,
go ahead. So I can see why they don't really
like you, but go ahead. So then what happened?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
So I called him God, and I said, listen, you
know a typical thing.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
And I asked, I asked, what would it be?

Speaker 2 (17:24):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (17:25):
And he paused, and I'm telling you, man.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, you know why because he did this. He held
the phone away from his ear and mouth like it
had the stinkiest smell on it that he'd ever like.
And his face was like, you gotta be kidding me.
So what did he say?

Speaker 1 (17:45):
He paused, and it felt like an eternity because that's
one of those moments like you need, like you're putting
yourself out there if this thing goes bad? Yeah, what
am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? We're
we're signing a lease I was gonna propose to in
a park near nearby or new new apartment in downtown Denver.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
So I was like, boy, if he says no, like,
because my entire life flashed before my eyes during this
probably probably five second pause, but five seconds is eternity
when you're waiting for that answer.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Especially when you're doing it on the phone, which was
probably part of the part of the issue.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
And then and then he came back on which again
after like ten minutes.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Did he cover did he cover the mouthpiece? Could you
tell what? Well?

Speaker 1 (18:25):
I don't. I couldn't tell, okay, and so he he
We'd be happy to have you as part of our family,
which was very sweet. But yeah, the pause is what
I'll always remember, definitely after what he said, which is
the permission, but the pause before that, my entire life
flash before my eyes because there was a moment there
I'm like, what am I going to do?

Speaker 2 (18:44):
It's it's similar to I think when a husband would
have a maybe a question from his wife, the old
standard honey, do you think this makes me look fat?
And there there's a very it's almost certain death pause.

(19:08):
Either way, if you answer it too quickly, you're not
putting enough thought into it. But if the pause is
too long, like your now father in law's pause was,
that's not good either. No.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
So, but it's something for me to think about because
I have.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
To do the rest of your life.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
But I have two daughters and I have already instilled
in both of them that I have an expectation.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
So if if when when the first one decides to
get married and some nummy calls you on the phone
and he's living twenty minutes from you, and he says, hey, Ryan,
first of all, first of all, your name's not Ryan, right,
your name is not Right's right? But so nummy calls

(19:54):
you instead of knocking on your door and walking in,
What exactly are you going to think.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Well, I can't get mad at the movie calls because
I can't.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Oh, yes, as yes, you can be like hypocritical, yes, yes,
because but listen, because you screwed things up, you know,
fifteen years ago. Don't let nummy screw things up for
your daughter, right, I mean hell, you'd be like, I'm sorry,

(20:23):
am I on the phone? Right now? We're certain we're
certainly not having this conversation on the phone, are we?
Oh boy?

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Hell? Like hell? No, no, no, no, I mean no,
there's not no, Dad, I'm not saying it's never happened,
but no, Dad, if you have your brothers and you
have a daughter, and the daughter has a boyfriend, wants

(20:54):
the boyfriend to call him and say Hi, I was
just asking for your permission to marry your daughter. Like, bro,
unless he lives in I don't know, unless he lives
in the Bahamas.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Somebody backs me up here though, Like it's like two.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Hour drive from for Collins to Centennial.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
And eight two hours absolutely care talking about.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Marrying his daughter. Hello, you ought to come down the
day before, stay at the holiday inn, get yourself a
good night's sleep and a little courage, and then knock
on that door, stick your chest out and say it
with it. Hey, I would very much love to marry
your daughter, but I want to ask your permission, sir,

(21:42):
and then hope like hell, so.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
You say I should breed two Peachtree, I bring it up.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I bring it up the July fourth get together.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
You married years years ago? Yeah, now sixteen years ago?

Speaker 2 (21:54):
Absolutely? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Probably this one great show. Appreciate the laughs.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
Been stuck in LA traffic for three hours calling her
dad to avoid traffic seemed fair to me. My dad
called up my grandpa and said, your daughter has an
incurable disease.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Only marrying me will solve.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Oh that's that's a bold strategy creatio for sure.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
My son in law called me to ask what he
was stationed in Alaska and was flying my daughter out there.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
That it's a little bit different. It's kind of the
same ballpark. Fort Collins to Centennial and Alaska to uh
anywhere else? Have you have you driven that Alaska? Oh?

Speaker 3 (22:38):
No, Fort Collins to Centennial?

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Yeah? Have you driven I don't know, Fairbanks to how long?
You think that drive is probably probably lost?

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Yeah, somebody's calling you a self, dave.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
I read that from the seven to oh five to
one eight Broncos calling me all, I'm not sure me.
Broncos country deserves such better representation than you two. Well,
I guess that would be me. You two sellouts. KOA
and the Broncos need to make changes. We are a
fan based without representation. Disgusting. Listen, bro, what what are

(23:17):
you upset about? And we're not right now talking about
the Broncos. There's nothing going on about the Broncos right now.
There's no bigger Bronco fan than me and and we'll
soon be talking about the Broncos basically NonStop, you know,
once the once training camp starts. But there's really nothing

(23:39):
going on right now. And he continues, if I can't
go to the radio home of the Broncos for content.
Where the hell am I supposed to go? You moron?
And that goes for both of you. Well, you know what,
I'm choosing to stay in a good mood today and

(24:02):
because years ago I probably would have a retort for you. Listen, man, stop.
I mean, we talk about the Broncos more than any
station in town. But this is the day before the
fourth of July, right, there's a whole bunch of people
that are already off work. So we're just having fun

(24:23):
and talking about a few things and talking about the
Nuggets and the fact that Ryan's in laws hating and
we're you know, we've we've sort of bounced around from
topic to topic. So here's my suggestion. Just stop, just stop.
That's all impressive vocabulary there.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
I didn't even know you just got lot more on.
Oh yeah, yeah, my bad. That's it's uh, just didn't
know there's intelligence for that.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
But but thanks for listening as well every single day,
because he text us every single day five six six
tight zero. Again, if you want to interact with the show,
I did have a Broncos thing I wanted to.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Ask you about back in the day. Just just and
then I'm sorry to interrupt you. Back the day when
we used to take callers, you know what I would
have called him like on the air. You have come
a long way. I don't know. Well, I say that
part of me likes to revert back to my old form.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
I've actually sat in the studio when you've would like,
give me a second here, step it out.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Well, I mean, listen, you do you do? You know
you do talk radio for a long time, and it's
an it's an inn I think it should be interactive.
We don't really we don't really take calls anymore, but
we try to read some text. But and then, and
you're gonna say some things. You're gonna have opinions that
people will not agree with, and that's okay, right, But

(25:37):
when when you start to get real like personal with
your objections and you sort of revert into the name
calling kind of thing, then you know, I'm I'm old
school when it comes to that sort of thing. Now
I have grown up a bit the last few years,
and probably i'm a bit more it's a good word,

(26:00):
and now get a little bit older. So I don't
revert to that too many times. But hey, man, I mean,
if you got options, I said that in the text.
If you don't like it, turn the down and then
come back and we'll be talking Broncos. I promise you,
we'll be talking to them every single day as we

(26:20):
get a little bit closer to camp training camp.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Imagine going to Voice of the Broncos. We just celebrated
thirty five flipping year. No, no, it's no, I see,
I don't look at it like that. I just look
at it as I mean, it's misguided frustration.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
I mean you, I mean as a long time Broncos
maan I looking at it that way.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
We're not talking about the Broncos. I mean this is
this is a sports talk show, and you know, every
now and then we like to delve into stuff just
to have a good time and find a little bit
of humor and hopefully if you've been you know, at
work all day and you've had your assche and you're
driving home, maybe we can, uh maybe we can make
that drive a little bit better. That's the whole idea

(26:59):
about doing what I you know, like an entertaining show.
Right So, but in terms of like sports topics, promise shit,
we're going to talk about the Broncos more than anybody else.
There's just not anything going on right now. They're really
honestly isn't trying. OTAs are over this is I mean,
coaches now are on vacation, players are trying to get

(27:20):
some downtime before you know, training camp starts. And that's
the That's just the truth to it.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
So there we go a lot of support here on
the text. I appreciate you guys, thanks for thanks for
the kind of words as well. All right, so for
a couple moments, and maybe this is something we can
talk a little more on the other side with Ben
when he gets in the studio. But the Broncos were
phenomenal last year in sacks given up, as we've noted
right with Bonix. Yes, twenty four sacks given up for

(27:47):
the offense was tied for fourth best in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Could that number actually get better?

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Do you think? Let me ask you a question, Okay,
go for it. Are we talking about the Broncos now
to appease the guy that's pissed off? I'm not.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
I put this on the rundown for really, I was
gonna say, because if we are, I ain't doing it.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
I would never I'm not doing it.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
I would never. I would dig in most of the time.
I just wanted to ask you that question.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
What Bo nicks sacks and what the Broncos were the
fourth best team in the NFL in sacks given up?

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Yes, twenty four.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Yes, there are only two teams better Green Bay and Buffalo.
Buffalo only fourteen sacks given up. Can they even be
better than this.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Year than that?

Speaker 2 (28:24):
This year? You know, Sean has has said several times,
well three or four times, how difficult it is to
sack bow And I mean personally, I don't know. I mean,

(28:47):
I I'd almost prefer I think it's true, but I'd
almost prefer he sort of gloss over that, you know,
because you think the football gods sometimes have a way
of sort of evening things out. But that said, I
think his point is valid. I think Bo's really good
at sort of feeling pressure and knowing when to step

(29:10):
up and knowing when, hey, I got to get out
of here. And I thought he got better as the
ear one on in terms of knowing when I'm just
going to throw the ball away and live to fight
another day. But there's certain downs that you're going to
take chances on, and you've got to stick that thing
in and there's there's risk to this throw, but the
reward is big enough that you have to take that opportunity.
Rarely does that sort of mindset, I think entered the

(29:32):
picture on a first down and rarely even on a
second down, especially early in a game. And I think
bo is really good at that, I mean, unusually good
for a young guy in his first year in the NFL.
So and I think Sean and I think Sean knew
that when when they drafted him, he could just tell
the guy has a real presence in the pocket because

(29:55):
he was I mean before bo Nicks really played a game.
He was talking about that Bo Nicks wasn't sacked a litet.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
Of all the traits, and there are obviously a lot
of them we should talk about in the pre draft process.
That might be one of the singular traits that any
coach would absolutely want in their quarterback. Just pocket presence,
an awareness of the rush. Right, A lot of good
texts here. We can read some of these.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
On the other side, it's I mean, if you go back,
and I'm sure there are analytics that would substantiate this,
but in the NFL, I mean, if you give up
a sack in a series the chances of you scoring
points in that series are just unbelievably low. So it's

(30:42):
I mean, you have to the league is all about
staying ahead of the sticks. And if on first down
you give up a sack and now it's second down
to nineteen, and now the defense knows, okay, they're going
to try to get half of it back, and so
you know they force it just with what they call

(31:03):
on defense to either run a draw or hit the
check down because they're dropping eight and you're not going
to take any chances, so you check it down to
the tight end or the back, and then they come
up and tackle the back and that's third down and eleven.
Go back and look at how many teams what the
conversion rate is on third down and ten plus in

(31:24):
the league. I can tell you from the Broncos standpoint
it and I don't know where they ranked in the league,
but you would be and I'll remember you. I brought
that stat up. I think it. I mean, before we
get out here, I'll go back and see if I
can find that stat in the stuff we had last year.
But it was astronomically low. You just don't convert on

(31:46):
third down to ten.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Plus on occasion arks, I don't know, you know so
deep that deep soul rhythm.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
So what that is?

Speaker 2 (31:57):
That's what that is?

Speaker 3 (31:58):
You wouldn't know anything about that. It's it's it's a musk,
that's for sure. Nedverts. Uh, good to see man. How
are you doing pretty well?

Speaker 2 (32:07):
How are you guess doing?

Speaker 1 (32:08):
I didn't mean to interrupt the haterfest, I know, but
actually it's turned into a positive most.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Of the textures chiming in here, I was like, are
these people just waiting for my show to come on?

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Because this is what my Twitter account usually is a
lot of positivity here on the text line except for
the one guy, but everybody else seems to be very
very happy with the show and we'll continue to do it.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Uh, what do you have coming up tonight on BCT. Well,
we're putting together a pretty big show. Here we go,
Ryan Blackburn, I know for sure.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
It's like.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
We're gonna have one guest. And then she had a kid,
who's the she roman.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
She heard her chair her leg as she heard her
leg breaking news here like light up like broken leg.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
Not broken, but like I think to or something or whatever,
I have to go back.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Not a good time of the year for that. Yeah,
so she's like laid up with like a you know, and.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Her mom's taking care of it all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Well, thanks for giving us all those d tails. Yeah,
I'm sure she appreciates that. Did you get something taken
out of her knee or whatever?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
But hippo. Yeah, she's friends with everybody. We're friends with her,
all right.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Well, stay tuned to whatever tonight got. The new Look
Nuggets Okay, very good
